When I first discovered Tumblr and that wonderful subgroup of the site, fitblrs, some eight years ago, I had just started on my current fitness and health journey. I was enthused by all the health and fitness memes available, and I would download and keep anything that inspired me or looked like good advice. Like any new convert, I had to get my hands on anything that would advance my cause one millimeter in the right direction. I download literally thousands of images with inspirational messages. I discovered websites like Girls' Motivation (okay, so I wasn't a girl; the images were inspirational so who cares?) and great fitblrs like a gifted artist by the name of Kim who posted under the name of ARThlete. (She is the source of the image above.)
After a few years I sort of retired my collection of fitblr memes. I still downloaded the occasional image, but they had gotten fewer and further between. Eventually I moved my folder to my portable hard drive and pretty much left it there.
As I wrote a few posts back, I am getting back into the swing of healthy and fitness after an 8½ month layoff. I got to thinking about how those images from 'way back when "cheered me on" when I first started, so I got out the portable drive and copied the folder over to my laptop. The images might be old, but the advice in them is good and might be just what I need now to remind me of how much I need to avoid any more "layoffs" like that.
A lot has changed in the intervening years: for example, the ARThlete blog is still out there but Kim seems to have retired from making new posts on it. But some advice is good no matter how long ago it first appeared.

lolanbq replied to your photo “Okay, first of all: bullshit. Second, why the false dichotomy?”
I fight people who say dance isn't a sport. Like have they ever seen a dance ever
tbth I definitely don’t view dance as a sport bc imo sport implies an innate competition and means of keeping score. While those can be built into dance (e.g. competition dance), they aren’t actually inherent aspects of it.
but I don’t think athleticism can be exclusively relegated to the realm of sports. Hiking isn’t usually a ‘sport’ but it is athletic. Dance is a performance art and arthletic
