Ever think about how Mal was like, one of the only good things about the orphanage to Alina back when they were kids?

No cause she took that so PERSONALLY. She latched onto a single person as a child, and was like “yes, this is gonna be my personality for the rest of my life.” Honestly, I get it. I don’t blame her. Mal loved her without receiving anything in return, without her being “special” and powerful.

I try not to think about it too deeply because I don’t think Alina is a bad person at all, I love her. But I wonder what life would’ve been like for her had Mal not been so determined to find the right orphanage. She wouldn’t have had as clear of a reason to defy the darkling, or to give up power, any of those decisions that ended up saving the world in the end.

I don’t know, according to fate, Alina and the darkling are two sides of the same coin. Mal’s fate was to die, to be enveloped and used by Alina. They said no. I just think that’s so romantic, and selfless in nature. I can’t stand it!!!

One of my possible headcanons for Jax is that, if they do end up finding the exit door, Jax is going to be the one who doesn't want to leave the digital circus. He's been here for so long with these people he's come to kind of sort of care about in his own mean Bugs Bunny kind of way that he's terrified of losing them. Not only will none of them know where anybody else is, none of them remember who they used to be, including Jax. Even if he's too much of an ass to say it before right now when they're all about to leave, he really doesn't want to lose his friends.

But there's also the possibility of him having no change of heart or character growth from his loveable wise-crackin' asshole demeanor and I need you to understand that I would love him all the same.

They can’t miss this deadline. This is the final class of the semester, and the majority of the grade relies on this final paper - this one stupid essay into the history of a society they hadn’t known even existed six months ago.

Their fingers tighten on the pen, the ink on the page smudging under their palm. 

Releasing a heavy breath, they flip the book they’ve been using for reference shut, the heavy pages falling together with a loud thump. 

“Lovely?”

He hums, tracing cool, soft fingertips along the slope of their shoulders, tracing down to where the strap of their tank has fallen. He pauses there for a moment, his thumb smoothing over the skin, before he ducks down, pressing his lips against their shoulder, and oh.

“Vincent….”

“You’ve been working all night. You should take a break. With me.”

ok so i decided to rewatch russian doll from the beginning bc i did something and skipped the recap and i can't get back to it again but now i'm glad i did because i'm picking up on things i didn't before

Beyond the bigger conversation they're both having and the things they're projecting onto each other, this tiny bit makes such a poignant point about trauma and how it's often so invisible. and how we can seem fine, normal, maybe without any visible marks, everything tip-toe the same as usual. "you seem fine, this trauma didn't seem to leave any marks, did it really happen?"

and the narrative says: it did. even if there seems to be no physical marks. even if there's nobody else to confirm it (although we learn soon that there's someone else experiencing a similar situation), even if nobody else sees it or believes it. it happened and it affects nadia and that's enough.
