Guillermo del Toro's haunting gothic horror film Crimson Peak is headed to 4K. Arrow Video will release a deluxe 4K Blu-ray edition of the 2015 film this spring. The film has been restored with a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray presentation in Dolby Vision, personally approved by director del Toro, and will be packaged in a case featuring all-new art by concept artist Guy Davis.
The set will also include a wide array of special features, including an audio commentary from del Toro, the feature-length documentary The House is Alive: Constructing Crimson Peak, and a wide assortment of featurettes; they will include a tour of the movie's lavish lets with star Tom Hiddleston, and closer looks at the film's costumes, production design, and nightmarish creatures. The set will also feature deleted scenes, trailers, and an image gallery. The package will include a double-sided, fold-out poster, four double-sided postcards, and an 80-page book with essays from David Jenkins and Simon Abrams, an archival interview with del Toro, and concept illustrations by artists Davis and Oscar Chichoni. The set will retail for $45 USD; it will be released on May 21, 2024, and can be preordered from ArrowVideo.com.
What is 'Crimson Peak'?
"Crimson Peak" is the nickname for Allerdale Hall, a dilapidated mansion noted for the red clay that constantly seeps out of its grounds. It becomes the new home for aspiring author Edith Cushing (Mia Wasikowska) when she marries its owner, Thomas Sharpe (Hiddleston). Unfortunately, the mansion is also home to Thomas' sinister sister Lucille (Jessica Chastain) and a bevy of horrifying ghosts (noted creature actors Doug Jones and Javier Botet). Meanwhile, Edith's father has been gruesomely murdered, and her childhood friend Dr. Alan McMichael (Charlie Hunnam) is on the case, uncovering dark secrets from the Sharpe siblings' past. Soon, those secrets are revealed, and Crimson Peak becomes a place of murder and mayhem - where the living are far more terrifying than the dead.
Arrow's 4K edition of Crimson Peak will be released on May 21, 2024.

OKAY the Tandy Memorex Video Information System is a hilarious console that Tandy/Radio Shack came up with in 1992.
It's called the Tandy-Memorex VIS partially to distance itself from Tandy, but Memorex was owned by Tandy at the time, and this is entirely their fault. Back in 1992, the CD-ROM was the NEW HOT THING and everyone wanted to get in on that. Arguably every console that tried failed to some degree or another, until the Sony Playstation in 1994. But the VIS failed spectacularly hard, selling something like 11,000 units, and Radio Shack was nearly giving them away towards the short lifespan of the console (1992-1994).
It got about 20 games, and another 24 releases that could charitably be called "multimedia products". Things like encyclopedias, photo albums on assorted issues, and spoken-illustrated-book things with minimal animation. Of those 20 games, many of them were edutainment games, things like word puzzles, math games, drawing tools along the lines of kid-pix (on a console with no way to save pictures or print them out, so... yeah).
On top of this, it cost 699$. IN NINETEEN NINETY FUCKING TWO. Plug that into an inflation calculator and it comes out at about one and a half thousand dollars, for a console with barely any games and the ones that it did come with are designed for the little kiddies. This thing never had a market.
But here's the thing that makes it so memorable to me: While the games available for it were not interesting, and it's just another example of a failed CD-ROM console alongside the endless failed or barely-survived ones that littered the early-90s... (Every played a CD-i, 3DO, NeoGeo CD, PC-FX, FX Towns Marty, LaserActive, Commodore CD-TV or Amiga CD32? How about one of the add-ons, the Sega CD, TurboGrafx-CD, or Atari Jaguar CD? Hell, this is what the Nintendo Playstation was supposed to be, before that deal went sideways and it became two separate consoles)
The thing is that technologically the VIS is super unique because it's an idea that wouldn't really be repeated until 2001, nearly a decade later: The VIS is a console that's a computer.
Yeah, I know, all consoles are computers (except maybe arguably some early pong units), but I mean like a desktop PC. The Tandy-Memorex VIS is an IBM PC clone running Windows!

It's a modular windows, a sort of embedded-windows that only runs off a ROM chip, but it's still an Intel 286 with a relatively normal VGA card, a megabyte of RAM, and a 1X CD-ROM drive. This thing could basically play a ton of DOS games, it would just be a matter of some basic porting.
And it just never happened. Instead all the games are custom-designed edutainment/multimedia things, and no one ported Duke Nukem or Commander Keen or Kings Quest to it (Actually Sierra did make a test port of Kings Quest 5, but it never came out. Reportedly it was slow as hell)
It could have been a very interesting console that let us play tons of DOS games in the living room in 1992, but Tandy mismanaged it with the ridiculous price and bad policy regarding games releases which meant it never really amounted to anything.
Anyway I've got one in my room right now, and I'm planning on building a CD-ROM emulator for it so I can easily play around with making homebrew with it. I want to port a bunch of DOS games to it and make it reach its potential, like Tandy should have done in 1992.
They already had a successful line of PC compatibles in the Tandy 1000, and the VIS is partially made of advancements they developed for that weird line of computers. If they had leaned into that angle, sold it at a better price, they could have really built something special. So many advanced DOS games (and even more advanced ones made possible by the CD-ROM format) that would blow away anything else in the console market in 1992 could have been VIS releases. Instead we got some (barely-)FMV games and a bunch of sub-par Math Blaster and Reader Rabbit clones on a console that no one wanted to buy because it was too damn expensive.

In addition to design and bar management at Myer Farm Distillers, I managed inventories and ordering for various types of shirts with different designs and styles, working with an existing apparel partnership with PSP Unlimited (Ithaca, NY) as well as bringing Upstate Merch (Whitney Point, NY) into the mix for new alternatives. The distillery received numerous compliments on the unique art style by local designer Q. Cassetti (Trumansburg, NY) whose illustrations formed the majority of the labeled spirits, so we discussed creating a new shirt design to feature an assortment of her work. Although these designs were never printed for retail sale, the layouts were used for a few special edition in-house creations for staff appreciation.
As well as the shirt designs, I came up with new versions of the existing grain logo for use on new merchandise, such as coasters, bumper stickers, and gift boxes. In-house, I also created coupons for tasting room usage and versions to be distributed to local AirB&Bs, hotels, and other hospitality industry compatriots; as well as pourings and other offsite events to encourage patrons to visit the tasting room after their experience at the events.

Epilogue
I think I’m done with the journal. I waited a couple of days, and its now officially day 9, and I don’t feel like I’ve backslid. Yeah, I’m a little sad but I’m mostly at peace.
I just want to say thank you to everyone who picked this up with me and stuck around. If I’ve shared this link with you, and you’re reading this, you mean the world to me. I’ve never been one to open up, so this has been a refreshing experience.
This journal helped me explore my thoughts and feelings in a way I’ve never experienced before. If you ever thought of journaling, I highly recommend it. The Therapist and the destroyer weren’t just little characters I came up with. They’re real voices, and this is actually what it sounds like in my head. They always existed, I just gave them a name. Okay, I did do grammatical edits, but if it helps you to start journaling yoruself, I’d feel things and think things throughout the day, and then I’d sit and just write. It really helped explore more deeply not just what I felt but why I felt those things.
My takeaway from all of this was really that there is nothing more special than forgiveness and saying that you’re sorry. One of my favorite pieces of content is John Milton’s Paradise Lost, an epic poem of ten books of ten thousand lines about Satan’s fall from heaven. Except the poem kind of sucks. I’ve read most of it, its alright I guess. But it is a great concept, and it’s explored by several other pieces of media that I adore.
The first is Gustave Dore’s assorted illustrations of Paradise Lost. People are always saying that art makes them feel things, or that art tells a story. But Dore’s prints are on a whole ‘nother level. Plenty of artists have tried to take on Paradise Lost, but Dore’s drawings make you feel something, and beyond that, actually understand something. They tell Milton’s wordy mess of a story in just a couple of pictures, and nothing gets lost in translation. If anything, the experience is more full.
The second is “Fallen Angel” by Alexandre Cabanel depicting a sad boy crying Satan after his fall. I think something about his depiction of Satan in his raw emotions always makes me think deeply about how how people we hate, dislike, mildly distrust or even are apathetic to have their own feelings and thoughts and stories.
The third is the poppy music video for “White Flag” by Delta Heavy, an English drum and bass duo. The music video depicts, in video game style, Satan’s quest to save the world after it burns following God’s righteous fury. The first time Satan begs for forgiveness, God smites him down painfully and angrily. He is cast down again, but he regains his strength, and flies up again, and just begs again. This time, God responds and unleashes a torrent of life-giving water back to Earth.
I think forgiveness is something people think is tied to apologising. These days, people don’t forgive unless someone says sorry, including me. But I think I’ve learnt that real forgiveness can come from within, and can happen even if no one apologises. Sometimes, you just have to accept the situation, but not hold any grudges or hurt against anyone anyway. And this isn’t something that applies just to other people who may hurt you. Sometimes, the most important person to forgive is yourself.
All things considered, I’m glad I was able to get through things my way. It still sucks, but I didn’t burn any bridges, break any hearts, or ignored how I thought and felt. It was a pain, and I still feel bad from time to time, but I’m out the other side.

CROTCH ACTIVATE!
Laser Cannon" that connects to the figure as an over-shoulder weapons array. The pieces can also form a turret that a Microman figure can sit on and operate (that's what the tiny handles on Megatron's fusion cannon are for), but this feature was naturally left out of the Transformers version's instructions. Megatron also came with a chromed silver "high-density infrared laser cannon" that plugs into either of his hands.The original Microman release of the toy that would be Megatron featured a spring-loaded firing mechanism that allowed the toy to shoot (dangerously small) plastic bullets one at a time from its barrel. A similar launching mechanism was also built into the stock piece, which could launch the bullets when the accessories were configured into their weapons emplacement mode, or attach to Megatron's hip when in robot mode and launch the bullets through his barrel. As with all missile-firing gimmicks, this feature was removed from the Hasbro release of the toy, though the ports into which the bullets were inserted are still present.Megatron has had several variations, reissues and redecos released down through the years; this article strives to list each distinct edition of the toy under its own respective series. The earliest variation of the toy came in 1985, when (like all toys originally available in 1984) a factory-applied rubsign was added to Megatron's right arm while another version had the rub sign on his left hip guard. Then, the following year, when he was no longer a part of the toy assortment sold at retail, Megatron was made available as a mail-away item in the "Digital Doom on the Highway to Destruction" flier packed in with boxed Transformers toys. He cost $21.50 and five Robot Points. To coincide with the 1986 animated movie release, he was also offered in 'The Autobots Have A Special Mission For...' mail-away pamphlet and came with a special "Movie Edition Certificate" and a round sticker that read " Movie . Edition . Transformer" with the Autobot symbol in the middle. (This item is considered rare.)Perhaps the most significant variant of Megatron released in these early years was the version of the figure released by Takara in Japan (pictured below). Instead of using the Microman "U.N.C.L.E." figure as Hasbro had, Takara released the standard version of the Gun Robo P-38 Microman figure, in its grey color scheme, which featured flat grey plastic on the chest and arms (where Hasbro's toy was chromed), and blue plastic on the inner arms and legs (where Hasbro's was red). Most notably, like that standard Microman figure, Takara's Megatron did not come with the stock, silencer and scope accessories (lacking even the attachment point for his cannon on his right arm), but instead came with a silver-chromed sword and retained his original bullet-firing mechanism. Takara's package art for the figure was an entirely different illustration from the Hasbro version, showing this toy's accessories, but it still erroneously showed the figure with red plastic on its limbs. This coloration was later repurposed by e-HOBBY for a new character named Megaplex.Megatron is probably the most troubled Transformers toy in all of Transformers' history, due to being originally Japanese which had different toy laws, he is frequently banned due to being a realistic gun while lacking an orange cap to indicate it's not a real gun. Some countries banned it or deemed it illegal due to criminals or kids misusing it as a real gun and terrorizing others, or law enforcement mistaking it for a real firearm and shooting innocent people dead (as has happened multiple times in the past). For you American fans, it may actually be easier to own a real Walther P-38 handgun than this original Megatron toy.
