The pure & auspicious moon of Odisha, Dr. Bimalendu Mohanty

Dr. Bimalendu Mohanty (born on 14 July 1937) is a well-known academician, civil servant, historian, writer, columnist, Major (NCC under the Ministry of Defence), and social activist with a career spanning over six decades. He is the former Vice Chancellor of the Utkal University of Culture, India's first-ever Culture University.

His interest in Buddhism has motivated him to document and produce scholarly works on the rich legacy of Buddhist history, its arts & architecture in India. Till date, he has published 28 books on the legacy of Buddhism & various other topics in Odia & English languages and continues to contribute regularly to various newspapers and publications like The Samaja, Sambad, Prameya etc.

He was awarded with the 2nd Global Buddhist Literature Award at the International Buddhist Conference, at Bodh Gaya, in February 2019 and was felicitated for his contribution to the Buddhist World.

Note about the latest comic, I changed the values of the average combined diameter of the planets (changed accordingly, as per WolframAlpha's computation (2023)). I also added more sources regarding the distance of the moon; the apogee and the perigee.

I thought this was a necessary post since I want to stay as accurate as possible, despite this being a work of fiction with artistic liberties. I provide links in the posts of my comics for readers to assess for themselves as well.

Thank you for understanding! And remember, there's always a footnote for sources regarding most of the comics, often from NASA.

I think it depends.

#there are many lenses under which you can read ethics #I say ethics and not morality because I don’t think the truth of things can be found in a social construct #the perception of which changes throughout different eras and cultures #ethics follow logic and logic is an absolute #some years ago I had the chance to take the most precise ethical test ever constructed #it was a limited collaboration between universities #one of the major academicians of ethics conceived it to test which students to admit to his class #it can detect how purly ethical your mind is #of course it would have been more precise if the actual test had actual real consequences on reality #much like for the trolley dilemma #I scored really high rather unsurprisingly #my orientation towards philosophical dilemmas always tend to be purly logical #there are endless arguments to eviscerate regarding the ethics of murder #I don’t think an absolute truth exists #situational factors and different perspectives can change my answer #in a perfect utopia murder would probably always be wrong #in our reality it really depends on many many factors #also right or wrong are always in the eye of the beholder #anon #asks/replies #one and one thousand stories lis told #ethics
