Roisia in her original Divinity: Original Sin build was a witch and witchcraft spells are a combination of D&D's Necromancy + Enchantment schools. I replicated that in-game and had a think about the… complications that might arise when Astarion realises that this unassuming woman has also been a bit of a deft hand at persuading, deceiving, and manipulating her targets too.

I love this relationship, we’re both holding each other accountable. Gale tries to stop Croissant from licking corpses, Croissant tries to prevent Gale from succumbing to his crippling hubris.

Gale: *spends the entirety of Act II moping about having to blow himself up when we find the Absolute*
Tav: *spends the entirety of Act II telling Gale his goddess is kind of a bitch and we can most certainly defeat the Absolute without him blowing himself up*
Gale when we reach the Absolute: Alright. It's time to die. And nothing you say can convince me otherwise.
Tav: I love you 3000.
Gale: Actually, you make a solid argument.

Lyra is irrationally angry about Gale being all "yeah ok that sounds like what I deserve and should do" when Mystra tells him to nuke himself.
Not because she cares about Gale. They aren't friends. She doesn't even like the poncy wizard, really. At all. Definitely not. Any sane person would have this amount of vitriol about your stupidity Gale because it's just that annoying, ok???
When he drops his Big Sad line about how 'when you're young you feel like you have all the time in the world and then suddenly realize how little you actually do and how easily your life might be cut short'
I think it will be hard for her not to laugh. Lyra has known every single day could be her last since she was 7 years old. She never had the privilege of taking time for granted. She's had to claw and steal and manipulate for every single next sunrise.
When he tries to follow up with this being a good thing because he's known his days were numbered but now he can die for a good reason (some petty bitch's fake love)...
I think she's going to be so irate her storm sorcery is gonna have static crackling around her.
Knowing it might end at any moment, for her, means fighting against that for as long as possible, by any means necessary, the desires of others be damned. She wants to survive.
No one else is ever going to decide how Lyra should live, and they're damn sure not going to decide how she should die. That isn't love, that's ownership.
Mystra's full of shit. And Gale is way too smart to be this dumb.
Really, I think Mystra turning her back on him hits a little too close to home. Lyra was also betrayed by an authority figure she wanted to please and felt special to. But Lyra coped with that by setting his ship on fire and killing several of her ex-colleagues and really thinks she'd feel better if she could just eviscerate him. If her old captain tried to woo her back, or offer her a way to make "amends" she'd laugh and chuck a firebolt in his face.
And look, yeah, too much empathy is a weakness. But it's not because she cares about Gale. She doesn't. She's just irritated having to be around this amadán. Ridiculous fancy people with their inane ideas about how the world works. Mystra didn't love you Gale. Get a grip. Make up your own mind. Preferably in a way that doesn't also get Lyra blown up.
(Unfortunately Lyra is not only projecting, but also beginning to feel some affinity for these people and being dragged kicking and screaming into caring whether they live or die)

Ultrakill spoilers for the scenes/ends of Act I and Act II ahead.
Also lots of swearing. I swear a lot when it's something I'm very passionate about / raving about things. Swears just kinda emphasize sentences for me. lol
Anyway ramble time because I have no one else to ramble to about this specific thing at the moment without it being spoiler territory. Lol.
ACT I
The end of this act pissed me off so much when I first encountered it. Like, until that point I was mad at Gabriel because I kept getting my shit kicked in by him.
But then I saw the ending scene.
And unholy fuck the HATRED I felt for the council was beyond anything I've felt in a game before. Like they pulled off the whole fucking holier-than-thou parasitic religious vibe so well it's like they took from personal experience with that one. I got so fucking ANGRY I had to put down the game for a bit to cool off because FUCK.
Major props to how well written that was, they really hit the nail on the head there. 10/10. Definitely felt empathy for Gabriel after that.
Act II
So when I tell you I literally fucking CHEERED like a dude at a sports game when I saw the end of this act, I'm not joking.
'FUCK YEAHHHH, FUCK YEEEAHHHHH! LETS FUCKIN GOOOOOO!'
I was so fuckin happy for Gabriel like unholy shit, you go dude, you're awesome as fuck. Murder all those fucking parasitic shitstains.
I was so fuckin happy that when it was revealed he'd die after a few hours or so, it hit like a truck. I'd seen some fanart and stuff mention it but I'd been given the slightest bit of hope it wasn't true when the scene went on for as long as it did with focus on the council.
But it's true. A part of me hopes it's not. Just because it's said doesn't mean it'd happen. Maybe it's a delusion from the council that they'd die without the power. or something. My brain really trying to look for any optimistic outcome here, even if it's painfully likely it wont happen. lmfao
Godfuck that was a rollercoaster of emotion.
I fuckin love Ultrakill.

The excutioner's axe falls. Again, and again, and again. Ripping into supple alien flesh.
Soft spoken words and shattered faith, yet the pale light of the moon burns just the same.
A mad angel soars through the sky, vengeance in her heart and wielding the wrath of gods like a sword.
Below, in the mud and the blood a devil screams, spewing fire and ripping undead in half like chewtoys.
Deep in the fleshy pits pure evil awaits as its doom comes with the rage of bared steel, the unstoppable fury of the fire of the Hells, and the cleansing gaze of the heavens.
Death comes for all, and the Hells will not be denied their reward. No amount of cobbling together bones and sinew will change this, now burn, Apostle.

I'm just going to headcanon that Roisia was too insufferable to be adopted by Myrkul as his new Chosen...

I am loving the Act II area of BG3. Lots of horror and dark fantasy elements and I am soooo here for it. The House of Healing reminds me so much of the clinic from Bloodborne, specifically.

i also think a lot about isobel being brought back and her father being unrecognizable to her; when she says she wants him to be killed she means it, and in no small part i think that's also because of ketheric himself. because whatever he is now is so distant from the father she knew growing up, the father she loved. as much as it's suggested he didn't approve of her relationship with aylin, i do think they still had a mostly positive relationship when she died. isobel herself downplays his original disapproval, when talking about his concerns being because aylin is immortal and making it reasonable when honestly i think no matter who she fell in love with he'd never think anyone was good enough.
