“So,” you stare at Jace, “How long have you had a crush on me?”
Jace goes red in the face and chokes on his water. He begins coughing and pounding on his throat, before finally calming the fuck down.
“Who says I have a crush on you?”
“Okay, if you don’t have a crush on me,” you smirk, “What’s your excuse for acting the way you do?”
“Wha- I don’t act any way-“
Your sushi arrives and both of you thank the waiter before starting to eat. As you do so, you begin your analysis.
“Exhibit A, first grade phys ed. I was wide open. You refused to pass me the ball because you said and I quote,” you make your voice as shrill as possible, “You can’t make a free throw to save your life, Shaq Jr.”
“Okay, that was like… Over ten years ago!” Jace protests, “And in fairness? You were absolutely shit at free throws, so I don’t think I was exactly in the wrong!”
“Exhibit B,” you continue, ignoring him, “Third grade. When you heard me tell Baela about my days of the week underwear, and like a little fucking perv, you came and asked me if you could see them.”
His ears turn red at this, “Okay, so I was a little… Precocious.”
“Oh, that’s a big word, Jace, maybe it’ll be on the SAT,” you snark.
“Well, what about you?” Jace retorts, “You didn’t invite me to your twelfth birthday. You said the invitations got ‘stuck together’. What kinda bullshit excuse was that? Stuck together my ass.”
“You got invited in the end!”
“Yeah, by your mom and dad! Not you,” he slouches in his seat, “Oh! And when you didn’t ask me to the Sadie Hawkins dance freshman year? What the hell was that?”
“We’re mortal enemies! Why would I have asked you to Sadie’s?!”
“Fine! You wanna know how long I’ve had a crush on you? I’ve had a crush on you since probably even before I knew what a crush is! That’s why I tease you all the time, that’s why I’m always flirting with you, and that’s why I did what I did in the movie theater! Because I’ve got a fucking crush on you, okay?!”
His chest is heaving slightly by the time he finishes his little rant.
“You know,” you continue your earlier movement of stroking his calf with your foot and grin to yourself, “You’re kinda cute when you’re all worked up like this.”
Jace is absolutely dumbstruck and he can’t stop himself from staring at you, “You think I’m cute…?”
You lower your voice, “Would I do what I did in the movie theater with someone I don’t find cute, Jace?”
“I um,” he stutters, “I guess you wouldn’t.”
And he smiles, a genuine smile. And it’s almost…
“Wait,” you ask, amused, “Are you feeling shy right now? Oh my gods, I’ve got you on the ropes, don’t I?”
Jace lets out a laugh, running his hands through his curls, “Yeah, yeah. You’ve got me feelin’ a little shy, Y/N. Well done.”
You decide to test your newfound victory over Jace by sliding taking off your shoe and sliding your foot to rest on his inner thigh. Jace takes a sharp breath and gives you a look that’s half amused and half annoyed. He doesn’t want you to know he actually likes this. And more than that, he can’t let you keep the upper hand for too long.
“Oh, so now what?” Jace asks, sounding a little bit like a brat.
“Hm?” you question, feigning innocence as you eat a piece of your sushi, “What’s up?”
He shakes his head, “You really think you can control everything, don’t you?”
You shrug, leaning forward and speaking a little more softly than before, “I think you’re a boy who gets whatever he wants and you like that I’m making you work for it so hard.”
“And what makes you so sure about that?” Jace teases you.
You smirk, “Anytime I challenge your whole little alpha male bravado thing you got going on, you get this look in your eyes. And that’s what makes me sure of how you’re feeling.”
Jace grins, knowing that you’ve absolutely hit the nail on the head, and questions, “And how do you think I’m feeling right now?”
“I think you’re feeling,” you lean in even more as you murmur quietly, “Very fucking turned on.”
Jace’s eyebrows nearly fly to his hairline because how the fuck are you able to read him so easily?
“Maybe,” he replies, trying to keep the quiver out of his voice that threatens to come out.
“Just ‘maybe’? Well, maybe,” you mock, “I should go home then. Looks like we’re out of sushi anyway.”
Jace thinks he’s going to get whiplash from the 180 degree turn you just pulled on him; he replies quickly, not wanting you to leave, “And who says I want you to go home?”
Your gaze is piercing as you meet his eyes once more, and he thinks he might just forget how to breathe if you keep looking at him like that, “Then what do you want, Jace?”
His answer is simple. He doesn’t hesitate. He doesn’t even think. He just says it.
“You. More than anything.”
You raise an eyebrow and give him a small smile, “Well, look at that. Finally some honesty.”
Jace leans forward and takes your hand in his. He lets his thumb trace your knuckles and then the back of your hand, “Stay with me.”
You glance at your phone before speaking, “I’m all yours until eleven. That’s when my sister’s picking me up.”
“Why eleven?” Jace asks curiously.
It’s past ten. He doesn’t want you to leave so soon. Jace just wants a little more time with you, even an hour longer.
“My parents will actually murder me if I miss curfew,” you shrug.
“Just a little later?” Jace pleads, squeezing your hand softly.
“How much later?”
“Midnight,” he grins, “Just till midnight.”
You’re enjoying this side of Jace quite a bit. The whiny little baby who doesn’t want you to leave and wants you to stick around even if just for another hour.
“Just till midnight?” you repeat, teasing him as you ask, “I’m surprised you didn’t ask me to try and sleepover at your house and use Baela as a cover.”
Jace’s eyes brighten considerably and a sly little smile spreads across his face as he asks, “Do you wanna try and stay the night?”
You pretend to think for a long moment before grinning and speaking, “Nah. I’ll stay till eleven.”
Jace crosses his arms and literally pouts like a child, “Seriously? Why?”
“Rule number one of being a girl, Velaryon,” you drawl, “Leave ‘em wanting more.”
He shakes his head at you incredulously before responding, “Rule number one of being a man then. Never leave a woman wanting more.”
He holds his chin high as he gives you a self-satisfied little smirk. He thinks he’s dropped some very profound knowledge on you and is feeling exceedingly proud of himself at this point. He thinks he has the upper-hand again and that you’ll come running to spend this extra hour with him.
“Then we’re at an impasse,” you say, “What time is it?”
“10:38,” he informs you.
“Looks like it’s almost time for me to leave then,” you say, pulling out some money from your purse and paying your share of the food.
Jace tries to protest but you give him a sharp look which he is, honestly, a little too scared to argue with. Jace watches as you stand up, gazing at you once again, from your bare legs, to your feet, all the way up to your eyes.
“You gonna walk me out?”
He nods, paying his share, and resting a hand on the small of your back to lead you out. The night is almost over, and so is his time with you. He feels genuinely sad about it and wants to make the most of these last few minutes. The two of you stand side by side, waiting for your sister’s car to arrive. When it does, she pulls up and starts honking. At this point, you turn to Jace, a coy smile playing on your lips.
“And now, for the big question of the night,” you pause for dramatic emphasis, which evidently works, judging by his wide-eyed expression, “Did you earn a goodnight kiss?”
“Yes, I really did,” he insists, leaning in toward you, giving you what you’re now finding to be… Kind of an adorable smirk.
Your sister honks again, gesturing for you to get in the car. You sigh and turn as if you’re going to leave, making Jace frown slightly. Then, you quickly turn back to him and let your lips gently brush against his in the absolute barest of kisses, so quick that if you blink you would’ve missed it.
“Goodnight, Jace,” you whisper against his lips.
He watches as you walk away and get in the car, unable to tear his eyes away from you, nor wipe the goofy grin off his face, “Goodnight, Y/N…”
Monday is swim day in PE again, and as usual, you and your friends finish your laps and hang out at the corner of the pool. You sit on the pool’s edge, thinking about your weekend. Your date.
And Jace can’t stop thinking about it either. Aegon and Cregan are both absent today for some reason (Jace personally thinks they ditched), and so he slowly wades over to your little group. He watches the four of you quietly for a moment, hanging out at the edge of your little circle.
“Oh, hey, cuz,” Helaena smiles at him, “You wanna hang out with us today?”
“Hey, guys,” Jace smiles back, “Uh, yeah. That would be really cool.”
Jace’s eyes shift over to you as everyone keeps talking. It’s like there’s a magnetic force pulling him toward you. He can’t stop looking, admiring you as you sit there, zoning out, smiling to yourself.
Baela sighs, “Man, she’s been zoned out all day. Must be that secret date she went on.”
“Do we know who it was with?” Helaena questions.
Aemond shakes his head, “All we know is movies, second base, dinner.”
Jace struggles to hold back from saying anything. He panics internally. It’s only a matter of time before they piece it together. He immediately switches his attention back to you when you speak.
“What are you guys talking about?”
“Your hot date,” Baela says dryly, before turning away.
You give Jace a coy smile when the others aren’t paying attention, raising a finger to your lips. He looks at you with a huge smile and leans in, giving you a tiny nod. It’s your little secret. For now.
“Wanna sit by me?” you ask him, patting the space beside you.
Jace nods, moving to sit beside you, your bare thigh pressed against his in his swim trunks, your bare arms touching.
Your friends watch the two of you suspiciously before returning to their own conversation. When they do so, you drape your legs over Jace’s, making him let out a tremulous breath.
“So how was the rest of your weekend?” you ask him quietly.
He struggles to hold himself together as he replies quietly, the two of you almost whispering to each other, alone in your own little world, “It was good… How was yours?”
“Hm, good,” you nod before meeting his gaze, “I couldn’t stop thinking about you. About what we did in the theater…”
He feels his skin flush as his voice drops an octave, responding, “I couldn’t stop thinking about you either.”
“What the fuck are you two whispering about?” Baela demands.
“Just the movie we saw-“
Jace’s eyes widen as he realizes he’s given away their little secret. You look at him, mildly horrified.
“YOU WERE THE HOT DATE?!”
Aemond.
“WHAAAAT?!”
Baela.
“Whoa…”
Helaena.
And Aemond speaks again, “Jace went to second base… In a movie theater…”
“What a stud,” Helaena cheers, ruffling his hair, while Baela grins at how much game her brother has.
“Guys, leave him alone,” you scold, “Chill.”
Jace gives you a grateful look and leans into you again, “Thanks.”
You nod, leaning against him, resting your head on his shoulder, “Anytime.”
He rests his head on top of yours, wrapping an arm around your shoulder. Your legs are still draped across his lap, so Jace, rests his free hand on top of them.
“You don’t mind this, do you?” Jace asks quietly.
“No, I don’t.”
“Does this make me your boyfriend now?” Jace’s eyes are hopeful as he meets your gaze.
“It fucking better.”
Jace is about to lean in and kiss you when Coach Lannister blows his whistle and everyone starts disbursing back toward the locker rooms. You and Jace stay in place until the pool empties out. The two of you sit there a moment longer, enjoying the silence and the feeling of just being beside each other.
“Who woulda thought, huh?” Jace laughs quietly.
“Who woulda thought,” you repeat, looking at him.
And before going back to the locker rooms, you and your new boyfriend kiss again. And a few more times after that.
It looks like senior year is definitely going to be pretty entertaining.

i hope I'm not monopolizing your time but I saw you reblog that New Ask Game and I wanted to be one of the firsts to ask xD. Can you do 13, 30, 37 (cause we all need inspiration!) and 50?
Don't apologize please, I love answering questions and you're not monopolizing my time! Thank you for the asks, @writingpotato07
13. How do you deal with writer's block?
Honestly, if it's just for one wip I'll work on another or work on snippets for that wip I've a writer's block for. Sometimes I'll just watch my favourite tv shows or movies and inspiration kicks in same goes for songs. I also write quotes for my characters.
30. Favourite line you've ever written?
Oh, this is a hard one! I've several. I'll do one for the three wips I work on most even though I've like 12 wips waiting.
Ballad of Empires:
Golden orange eyes slowly looked up, raging anger reflected in them as the song of fire and wrath devoured its way from her innermost core to the last fibre of her body.
Where Stars are buried:
The stars were silent as the man collapsed amidst the remains of the ancient temple on the planet. They remained silent as the burning pain in his chest became excruciating and he scrabbled desperately at the crimson dirt ij an attempt to get away from it. Then it was as a falling of a great tree and darkness without stars and light consumed him.
Space Girl:
It was beautiful to witness a star dying, as millions of colours burst into one and shattered time and space.
37. Most inspirational quote you've ever read or heard that's still important to you?
Oof, I've many.
One is "Veni, vidi, vici" by Gaius Julius Caesar, meaning "I came, I saw, I won" and "per aspera ad astra" by Seneca meaning "through hardships to the stars".
Another quote is "A pen is to me as a beak is to a hen." by J. R. R. Tolkien.
50. Weirdest story idea you ever had?
A crossover/ what if where all my characters meet.
