Adelheid had been up early in the morning baking bread when the contractions set in. The only thing she could think was that it was too early, and then it was over. Tobias Lehmann was born on the 7th of july, 1887, and by the next day he was gone.
They all suffered of course, even little Paul who hardly understood why, but Adelheid took the loss the hardest. Peter and the girls tried their best to give her time to grieve, but still, nothing hurt Peter more than finding her sitting on their bed in the evenings, staring blankly at the entry in their family bible, tears welling up in her eyes. But still, there were no words to ease the loss, and all he could do was hold her as she cried.
But they had to keep living, and so while Dete took over everything to do with the chickens and the goat and tended to her mother’s herb garden in the afternoon, Johanna kept house almost on her own, and Peter was quite busy doing everything the girls couldn’t and hardly entered his workshop.
It felt like years went by this way, but it could not have been more than a few months until Adelheid began to leave the house again.

Dete was soon followed by little Paul, who, after the easiest labour Adelheid had endured yet, was born on the 5th of May, 1885, though that fact would not make it to the records, as, given the general business of harvest season, time went on and Peter continued to not find the time to get the birth recorded, and before anyone knew it it was too late, and so the baby’s birthday swiftly became the 13th May instead.

𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐮𝐩𝐨𝐧 𝐚 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 … snow white lehmann was known as the stoic & kindhearted princess with a reputation for being a natasha liu bordizzo doppelganger . but now , under the stress of the war on the horizon , the natural born hero human has become widely known for being rather self-sacrificing & inflexible . let’s see how long the adelheid native will last during this war . after all they’re only twenty four years old . + she/her & cis female , snow white .
pinterest !
snow white was raised to be the perfect princess: mannerly, kind, elegant, skilled in all the things a princess should be skilled in. as a naturally quieter, introverted person, this wasn’t difficult.
she was softer, kinder, before her mother died and her father remarried to a woman who hated snow white for her beauty. he died shortly after, when snow was only fourteen, and snow and her sister were left orphans.
you probably know the story after that – the queen sent a huntsman to go and kill snow white. she escaped, went to live in the woods with dwarves, yada yada.
the queen tried and failed to kill her three times – once with a corset laced too tight, once with a poisoned comb, and once with an apple. suffice it to say, snow’s learned her lesson about trusting too easily. she’s much more cautious now. any stranger could be the queen in disguise.
snow never actually didn’t expect to ever fall in love. as a princess, she knew she’d probably be expected to marry for duty, to whoever could benefit their kingdom most. and as a fugitive, she was much more focused on surviving.
but all that changed when prince florian discovered her in hiding. at first, she was terrified he would tell the queen where she was. but he did the opposite – he sheltered her, and brought her food and company. and slowly, even though she had nothing to offer, no money or status, he loved her. and she loved him.
she’s very practical, and has lost her childhood dreamy optimism. but she sticks true to what she believes in – kindness, and peace. she’s a staunch pacifist, stubbornly believing that violence is never the answer.
she’s rather set in her ways, and can tend to view the world as black and white, good and bad.
she also tends to always put others’ needs before her own, to a point where it’s not great. if something upsets her, she just pushes it down and smiles, afraid of being selfish and upsetting others
she’s been pretty conflicted recently about her pacifism – she still believes violence doesn’t solve anything, but she’s tired of being scared, weak, unable to protect herself. she’s tired of always hiding.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Hey, y’all, it’s Sass again!
ABOUT THE CHARACTER
𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐮𝐩𝐨𝐧 𝐚 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 … Rose Red Lehmann was known as the sanguine & audacious princess / spy with a reputation for being a nina dobrev doppelganger . but now , under the stress of the war on the horizon , the natural born villain/hero gifted (split mind) has become widely known for being rather two-faced & manipulative . let’s see how long the adelheid native will last during this war . after all they’re only physical twenty-six years old . + she/her & cis female , snow white & rose red .
EXTRA INFORMATION
As sister to snow white, rose red is considered the more adventurous, more outgoing and passionate of the two, but her eagerness to see the world and her extroverted nature didn’t always have its perks. Rose Red met Ursula about four years ago at a lake and immediately believed her lies. Unfamiliar with the concept of good and evil Rose Red believed everything and eventually ended up signing a deal that would grant her power, more than she could ever wish for -- in exchange for her, in a more twisted sense, divided attention. She gets to explore the world, meet the most dangerous and exciting people. The formerly guarded princess has been nothing but a pawn in Ursula’s game, hidden behind her optimistic facade lies as pawn for the villains, the thieves and the monsters.
Rose Red is cursed. She has a split mind, meaning she can effectively portray two different people if needed, depending on the company. A heroine at day and a villain at night, she lives in a never ending cycle of trying to be good and hoping to be bad enough to be rewarded.

Lookbook: Johanna Lehmann
Johanna is the oldest daughter of Peter and Adelheid Lehmann. As of 1887 she is six years old. Her clothing reflects her family’s status as better off working people- pieces of Peter’s furniture can be found in fashionable saloons of Europe, though the family only sees a portion of that money, and so Johanna has some nice clothes, but nothing too impractical. She still has to help with the chickens after all!

The day Adelheid finally went into labour had been as busy as it could be. The chickens were revolting, and Bertha’s egg had finally hatched, against everyone’s expectations.
Even worse, the labour was a long and painful affair, but after many hours Johanna Lehmann (and Haensel the chicken) saw the light of day!

Adelheid found herself in other circumstances rather faster than anticipated. Perhaps a bit too fast, she thought to herself. But now that they were married, it hardly mattered, and Peter’s carvings earned good money. Yes, she thought, as she went to find Peter to tell him the good news, the road ahead looked bright.
