pairing: bangchan x fem!reader
genre: angst, fluff
warnings: mentions of tears, sadness
author’s note: hello! how’s everyone doing? decided to write this hurt/comfort imagine of chan cause i just cannot accept the fact theres only one chan in the world. pardon for my poor grammar and mispellings if present, other than that, happy reading! <3 remember, it’s just a bad day, not a bad life; it shall pass to. my dms are open if anyone wants to talk ab anything (:
————————————————————————
nobody said marriage life was easy. the day you said yes, the both of you were expecting the ups and downs, the happiness and sadness.
“i’m home!” chris exclaimed as soon as he stepped into the house, one of the few places the both of you feel comfortable enough to call home.
silence from the other side, he was baffled. confused was an understatement, why isn’t his wife scrambling to his arms? you’d usually greet him in ragged breaths, as if you’ve just completed a marathon.
going up, unsettling thoughts clouded his mind. although he knew deep down it will never happen, everyone’s gotta prepare for the worst, right?
wrong.
opening the bedroom door oh so quietly, he managed to make out your figure huddled under the thick comforter. oh, you’re sleeping.
but it’s just 4 in the afternoon?
deciding to kneel so he could be at eye level with you, he froze upon the sight.
chris felt his heart shatter as the seconds passed by, this is never a sight he wants to come home to. why is his favorite person in the world crying?
you’d be lying if you didn’t notice chris entering the room; you tried to play it off by pretending to sleep. but boy, did chris see through you.
he shook you gently, not wanting to invade any further into your personal space. looking up at his pretty eyes, your tears started to well up for the 3rd time this afternoon.
“oh no,” chris started to panic. “what’s wrong babe, hmm? talk to me,” he tried to coax you into reaching out to him.
you covered your face with your 2 hands, not wanting the man that stood beside you see the woman he married.
if chris had to list the top 10 most heartbreaking sights he’s ever encountered in his life, this will be the first. never in his life, he saw you this vulnerable. you always had this strong facade; but even strong people can crumble too. they just decide to not show it.
sitting on the edge of the bed, he guided you onto his lap; he knew, his woman needed his physical affection to ground her.
while patting your head with a few kisses to your temple peppered here and there, he tried to keep his guard up; as much as he wants to cry too, he needs to be strong for his one and only. silently praying the pain in her heart will subside soon, he continued his loving acts.
“deep breaths baby, you can do it,” chris whispered, ensuring the person cradled in his arms is still getting sufficient oxygen. “i’m here now okay? you can rely on me, you can talk about it, you have me,” chris continued, not wanting to aggravate any painful memories.
“i- i’m sorry,” you managed to blurt out while trying to keep your shit together. you knew he was exhausted, visible from the eyebags and the way his shoulders sag. “i know you’re tired, i’m sorry you had to come home to whatever this is,” you continued. “i’ll be better.”
chris wanted to explode; who the hell made his wife feel like this? she’s everything he’s ever dreamt of; kind-hearted, a little clumsy, very dreamy, independent, smart, adora-
his train of thoughts were cut short when he hears your crying started to worsen.
“no,” chris said firmly while still holding your frame. “you, my love, are the definition of an angel. now, before your thoughts get the best of you, let me explain.”
hearing no response from his woman, he let out a small okay, to make sure you were fine with whatever he said and will say — which you were.
“who isn’t tired? we all have our own problems, some we can fight alone, some we need others to help. whatever you’re thinking now, it’s all the exact opposite of what i think of you. you’re perfect, and before you start with your nobody is perfect speech, to me, you are perfect. heck, i often ponder to myself, what did i do in my past life to deserve such a woman?”
responding to what he said, you simply held him tighter and buried your face in his neck. now only hearing sniffles, chris felt relieved you’ve calmed down.
chris had to get to the bottom of this — “is there something you want to tell me?”
after a good 2 minutes, you lifted your face so you could stare into his face and man, nothing ever prepared chris for what his love was about to say next.
“this morning, i went to my pilates class as usual. there were these group of women, i don’t know them at all since they’re new,” you paused, needing a breathe because you felt your throat closing up again.
with a nudge to your side and a kiss to your forehead, chris encouraged you to continue.
“i heard them talking about how they were able to travel around the world with their partners, having the time of their lives, while i’m rarely at home for lengthy times due to work. it’s not that i want to stay away from you, if i could choose i swear i’d choose spending time with you over anything else in the world. i’m sorry, i’ll be home longer, i’ll make you happier.”
a single tear rolled down your cheek, and at the speed of lightning, chris managed to kiss it away.
looking into her eyes with so much adoration one can ever have, chris replied, “you’re enough for me, baby. we have holidays where we can spend time with each other 24/7 and we communicate with each other pretty well. you make me the happiest man alive and don’t change yourself; you’re perfect just the way you are. i understand your feelings, but please don’t ever underestimate yourself, you’re literally my favorite person in the world and i don’t like the person i love the most get hurt because of her thoughts, okay?”
resorting to a nod to respond to his answer, chris felt his heart swell looking at his wife. someone so selfless, she even let her thoughts get the best of her.
“like we agreed, let’s talk about whatever’s bothering each other yeah? no secrets between us, i know you trust me as much as i trust you,” chris concluded, not wanting another wave of sadness wash over his beloved.
“i love you, chris,” you whispered as to not ruin the comfortable atmosphere blanketing the room.
“i love you most, my beautiful wife,” chris replied, with a kiss to your forehead, cheeks, nose and lips.
nobody said marriage life was easy. but one thing you learned was, it’s always the two of you versus the problem, and with the right person, marriage life can feel comforting, like hot chocolate on a snowy day. with chris, you always felt at home.

I've read Going Postal approximately a zillion times because its my favorite Discworld novel, and by extension I've read Making Money a fair few times because it is What Is Done after reading GP. But I've never liked it as much.
Making Money is lacking the drive that Moist gets from a foil as fantastic as Reacher Gilt. He was a perfect antagonist because he was Moist writ large. Reacher is the logical endpoint of the road that Moist was walking down when his angel came for him.
I just don't get what Cosmo Lavish and Cribbins are supposed to say about Moist. Like, the difference between Moist and Cribbins is that Cribbins has no respect for people, no style, and is willing to get violent. But I don't think this really reveals any truths about Moist as a character. We already know that Moist has style, that he cares about people in his way, that he is sickened by violence. Revealing Cribbins as his mentor is interesting, but he doesn't really push Moist to grow or change.
Ditto Cosmo. He's a cunning adversary to be sure. But the only real point of contention he has with Moist is that Cosmo wants to be the Patrician, whereas Moist gets uncomfortable thinking Vetinari's way. Otherwise, Cosmo is a very self-deluded Quixotic egotist, while Moist is much more of a realist with a huge ego and a small self-esteem.
Reacher showed us all of the talents and skills Moist valued, raised to excellence, but it revealed Moist's morality. He saw the absolute apex of what he wanted to be and was horrified. Reacher made Moist into a better person just as much as Adora or Vetinari by showing him everything he didn't want to be. To not be a hammer.
I dunno. The story just lacks that strong character glue that makes Going Postal such an effective read.

Okay I do want to watch another episode tonight instead of just back-tracking to watch stuff from earlier episodes over and over and roll around in my feelings and yell about them at my partner
BUT (this is from Corridors)
Tumblr media
Yeah yeah Horde Prime is evil and the actual villain of the series but the fact is: he could see into Catra's mind. And while obviously he sees affection/love/etc as bad things, he still nevertheless tells Catra (more than once) to her FACE that she still has feelings for Adora.
And yeah the feelings are often a mixed-up mess of envy and resentment, which comes out of Catra as anger and a need for revenge, and which Horde Prime accurately interprets as very painful for Catra--none of those feelings would be as strong without the love and grief under it all and causing so much of it.
It's a cliche but it's true: the opposite of love isn't hate, it's indifference. And Catra might feel many things for Adora but indifferent is not one of them.
And it's just SO TELLING that after Horde Prime's next line: "Don't you want to be free of it?" Catra doesn't think "ha ha yeah that would be a relief lol"
She bristles and gets angry.
Tumblr media
And then looks terrified
Tumblr media
And YEAH obviously some of it is a logical reaction to being threatened with joining the hive mind.
But also she doesn't actually want to be freed from her feelings for Adora. And I don't know if she even knew it until that moment.

(For more of an explanation to why I picked these ships in particular, check out this post)
Edit: I should probably explain everyone’s strengths and weaknesses for reference~
Red Team ❤️🌙🍔
Adora can turn into a goddess who can blip someone out of existence, BUT she actively holds back. Catra has advanced cat abilities. BUT she also has all of the extra weaknesses a cat has (I.E. fear of water)
Batman is able to take down most enemies due to his advance martial arts and trained intelligence, BUT he has a major no kill rule, and he also tends to hold back. Joker can create weapons and is way stronger than he looks. BUT he’s often prevented from killing others due to Batsy holding him back.
Ekko can control time and is overall very strong, BUT he struggles with murder and often needs a team to help him fight. Jinx is very smart and can create mass weapons of destruction, BUT she is very self conscious about being alone, her perception of reality can become messed up, and often doesn’t play by any rule.
Blue Team 💙 🪱 💤
Hannibal is a cannibal who is good at manipulation, and is much stronger than he looks. BUT he is co dependent on Will and how well he’ll fight. Will is also a pretty good fighter, BUT his perception of reality can become messy and he doesn’t have the best aim.
Venom has super strength and overall enhanced abilities, BUT he needs to be with Eddie at all times, and he is weak to fire/noise. Eddie makes for a unstoppable host for venom, BUT he’s also just kind of a guy.
Villanelle is a trained assassin who is fluent in multiple ways of murder, BUT gets easily distracted by Eve, and can become reckless when defending Eve. Eve is a fantastic investigator who could hypothetically figure out everyone’s weak points, BUT she’s also more hesitant to kill.

i just have to say this. she-ra was a weak hero.
don't get me wrong, adora was a very compelling protagonist. she was flawed, relatable and had good character growth (until s5, at least). but she-ra, as her superhero form? i feel like she was just lost potential. i mean, sure, she lifted tanks and stuff. but she never did anything truly mind-blowing as she-ra.
in her fights with catra, i guess you could say catra had the upper hand because she was adora's abuser. but in general, there were very few satisfying fight scenes involving she-ra. most of the “fight scenes” were just catra repeatedly and remorselessly torturing adora, all while berating her.
i mean, come on, i get that adora didn't want to hurt catra. but she couldn't even dodge or block catra's attacks? she couldn't figure out a way to restrain catra without hurting her? even a simple punch from catra seemed to really hurt she-ra, so what was the point of the she-ra form? if just seems to me that she-ra was a regular person who was taller and slightly stronger.
even in s4, where adora finally got tired of catra's shit, there were very few instances of her fighting catra as an equal or defeating catra. i guess some of it had to do with the fact that catra didn't want to face adora and sent double trouble in her place instead.
she-ra didnt really do much for the plot, she certainly didn't make adora's job any easier, since adora got her ass beat whether she was in the she-ra form or not. she was taller and stronger but the strength didn't really matter.
if she-ra was really created as a weapon, you'd think that the first ones would make it more durable and strong. but the outfit was flimsy and easily torn through, the sword didn't seem too different from a regular sword and there wasn't much improvement to her agility. it seems like all that's needed to defeat the legendary invincible warrior is a teenage catgirl who slacked off during her training and had only her claws for weapons. doesn't seem like a very powerful weapon to me.
and honestly, i feel like adora herself was mostly reduced to the dumb blonde jock stereotype after a while. i've mentioned this before how in s1, adora was shown to be very diligent, strategic and a capable fighter. but all of that is thrown away in the later seasons and her only strength seems to be her physical strength, which she doesn't use much of.
what's even more disappointing is that adora never faces off with hordak. hordak is literally the leader of the horde, adora is trying to bring down the horde. you would think that she would have some sort of animosity with hordak. you would expect to see fight scenes or at least a confrontation.
especially after the revelation that hordak was the one who adopted adora and took her into the horde, you would think that this would bring up a new dilemma. in any other story, i wouldn't be complaining. but this is literally a story about a war, where the chosen one is fighting the army led by an evil dictator. you would think that she would have a direct relationship with said dictator.
but no, the only person adora really seems to be opposing is catra. we're supposed to believe that there's a war going on, when the only rivalry that matters is adora vs catra (which is reduced to “oh they were just exes who couldn't get over each other haha silly lesbians” in s5).
(this isn't hate on adora btw it's a criticism on the crew-ra who had to go and make a regular catgirl stronger than the literal warrior goddess being.)

It's so beautiful how Bow and Adora are so close. Supporting each other the best whenever one needs it the most, and Bow started off from the very beginning.
And in spite of how strong their relationship is, with the focus on their show, none of this lead to any mlw chemistry. That shows you a lot, doesn't it?

So I said I was gonna write something about an aspect of Amiya as a character that really hooked me when I saw the anime and made me go play the game.... So, I really like paragons. Superman, Adora, paladins in DnD, etc. So naturally I was already liking Amiya as a fairly paragon hero from the get go. A hero fighting for her ideals and with a strong moral compass. (Also big jacket is just great design) So, the moment I knew Arknights had its hooks in me... Lets talk about episode 7 and 8 of the anime. Skullshatterer, someone who essentially represents the very people Amiya wishes to save, tries to murder the doctor to save his sister (I actually got some very cult like vibes from Reunion in the early chapters as a group preying on people with very real problems and directing them into blind loyalty towards the group and their doctrine and hatred of those not in the group, this is of course moved away from in later chapters. I think the more morally gray anti-hero portrayal Reunion moves into over time works better overall, but I did find the kinda cult vibe fascinating too). It is of course a classic scenario to have a situation where the easy out is for a paragon to compromise on their morals but they still will not.... Except Amiya does. She kills Skullshatterer out of desperation to protect the doctor. And this horrifies her. The realisation that she is willing to compromise on her own morals because of her own fears and hangups makes her feel like a huge failure. Amiya is essentially a person *trying* to be a paragon, but her own flaws and situation often gets in the way of that.
This had me really intrigued, and it helps that the anime version portrays how badly shaken up by this Amiya is *really well* and the fallout with what Misha ends up doing in chapter 8 and such is also handled pretty well in the anime. I do think that the anime making Amiya more easily rattled by horrifying things then she is in the game has the potential to maybe undermine that scene in chapter 8 where Amiya breaks down crying once the mission is done, but it really improves the Skullshatterer and Misha arc. Amiya of course grows a lot from here, and we learn a lot more about *why* she sees it as such a personal failure to not be able to be a savior but it was a very interesting starting point to me and the thing that made me decide to check the game out. I wanted to know where Amiya´s arc would go from there and know why she was the way she was, why does a teenager believe it is her duty to save everyone? What drives her to be so dedicated to her ideals and where will she go from here? Will she gradually have her idealism crushed out of her (like what we eventually learn happened to Talulah) or will she persevere and manage to actually grow into the hero she feels she should be? Something entirely different?
My taste in media tends to lean... dark but hopeful. I like seeing characters plunged into the pits of despair manage to climb their way out and grow and become better then before, they may never be what they wanted to become, but they can still grow to be better.
Amiya has grown to be one of my all time favorite characters in anything.

The Power Of Adora
Episode 4 of She-Ra, Flowers For She-Ra is the first war story in the series. It depicts the cost of war on people and places, and if it wasn't for how obnoxiously lovable the citizens of Plumeria are, it might be genuinely harrowing to watch (Let me know how it went for you if you didn't find the Plumerians endearing)
But I would like to focus on something else. Adora herself. Up until this point, the series has been showing off how powerful She-Ra is and how she is so useful and so strong and bla bla bla. But this episode focuses in on Adora herself, and what she can do.
Let me explain.
SPOILERS AHEAD
Tumblr media
"Can Adora do this?"
I would like to examine how Adora reacts to danger. She runs towards it, she is determined to be useful, and she sees She-Ra as her way of helping. What I'd like to focus on is her vernacular. She refers to the form she is not in as a separate person, and how she refers to each facet of herself is pretty obvious. She-Ra can do things, Adora cannot.
So what happens when She-Ra can't fix the problem? That's what this episode explores.
Tumblr media
In this episode, we see Adora's experience of the Horde in full effect. Turns out, having someone who understands the enemy on your side is useful. Who knew?
In this episode alone, we see Adora's understanding of the Horde's tactics used to predict the use of the poison and her knowledge of their routines used to effectively infiltrate the base. There isn't much analysis to do here other than to contrast that with how She-Ra is represented in the stories. She-Ra is a warrior where Adora is a tactician.
It's also worth noting that She-Ra's healing would only have been treating the symptoms of the poison, where Adora went to the source of the problem.
Tumblr media
Hope. This is an episode about hope.
Adora's defining skillset isn't She-Ra, and it isn't her background, it's her resilience and perseverance. Adora rarely gives up, she instead seeks a new way to fix a problem. And that has an effect on people.
Tumblr media
This is a shot from The Batman (2022) and I promise you its relevant. It's important here that Batman isn't carrying people to safety one by one, he's leading them to a better place. He's helping them to help themselves. This is one of the reasons this is the best live action Batman, because it's not about punching the bad guy, it's about saving people. And the way that is done, isn't by solving all of their problems for them, it's by shining a light and inspiring them to do better and to fix their own lives.
This is the effect that Adora has on people. She inspires people to help themselves. What's interesting is that hope is very much associated with the She-Ra personality. She-Ra is a symbol. Maybe there isn't so much of a difference between She-Ra and Adora after all.
Yes, I just linked She-Ra and Batman. No, I am not sorry.
Tumblr media
But there is another effect that Adora has on people, and that isn't any effect that she can see. This episode makes a point of showing the effect of Adora's defection on the Horde itself.
Tumblr media
"I know you're lying. You have to be lying. What did you do?"
I don't need to explain how bad this is. Not from a writing perspective, but as something for a mother figure to say to her prodigy.
In any case this little scene displays what Adora defecting has cost these two individuals. Shadow Weaver covets power, she seeks to control every piece on the board, and her most influential has just left her side.
Meanwhile Catra gives this line:
Tumblr media
"What did I do? She left us, she left me."
Here we see Catra's abandonment issues coming out. She has taken Adora's leaving personally.
There's a neat little trick with her character design that I want to highlight here. Catra is mostly symmetrical, her mask, her hair, her costume (with a couple of flourishes). Even the marks on her arms match each other. The exception to this is her eyes. One blue, one yellow. Eyes that she can't cover up. Everything about Catra is perfectly even, but it's a facade, and the imbalance in her creeps out through the way she sees the world.
In 1810 Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe wrote that yellow and blue are the two primary colours that are in the greatest opposition to each other.
"Yellow is a light which has been dampened by darkness; blue is a darkness weakened by light."
Once again, this is the influence Adora has had on Catra, and the influence the horde has had. Notice how the hoard bears a green that, in this specific shot, is very similar to Catra's yellow eye. The Horde corrupts. And notice how much the blue stands out. Notice how it is the closest to Shadow Weaver, almost protecting Catra from her. Adora weakens the darkness so that in the end, Catra can be free. I'm definitely clutching at straws here, but it's a neat little rabbit hole.
Tumblr media
I'd try and summarise my points here, but I think Glimmer says it best.
"Adora, She-Ra isn't the reason we like you. We like you because you're our friend."
She-Ra is a story about purpose, and acceptance. And Adora's journey is about realising that she doesn't need to fit one single purpose for people. She can live her own way.
The two personalities, Adora and She-Ra, represent the sides of Adora as powerful and Adora as herself. In this episode, we learn who exactly that self is, and what effect that has on the world of this story.

Sea Hawk clearly has ADHD
Which isn't something I've seen people talk about much. So here's a list a list of his ADHD traits I've noticed.
Very impulsive.
Adora: We go on three. Ready? One... Sea Hawk: Forward! Adora: I said on three. Sea Hawk: I got excited.
His tendency to set ships on fire - poor impulse control. Also his love of fire could be connected to visual stimming?
ADHD seems to be common in pyromaniacs. (Sources include Pyromania: fascination with fire - The Diamond Rehab Thailand, Pyromaniac: Meaning, symptoms, and treatment, Pyromania - an overview | ScienceDirect Topics, and others. I went down a rabbit hole trying to get statistics on what percentage of pyromaniacs are diagnosed with ADHD, but found nothing.)
His thing with singing. Vocal stimming.
RSD! His fandom wiki article says he has “a strong desire to be liked due to him being quite far from home”, but rejection sensitive dysphoria also checks out.
Tends to be very loud - trouble controlling volume?
When is he like, actually still?
Randomly starts doing squats. Not just to show off or anything either; just… to move? And what normal neurotypical train of thought would lead to one just randomly doing squats there like that?
There's some other traits I totally imagine him having too, but those are fully in headcanon territory, not things we see in the show, so I'll stop here for now.

Holy shit! I JUST realized something about Spop and Kyle! Idk HOW I missed it before. But I only just realized it, and now I’m gonna make it everyone else’s problem.
So we all know Kyle is the designated butt-monkey of the show. He’s a relatively good guy despite being with the Horde. And he’s mistreated and abused by characters in the Horde. The characters who mistreated him aren’t characters like Shadow Weaver or Hordak, who have SIGNIFICANT power over him. No, it’s his peers. And Scorpia (acts more like a peer despite having a higher rank) and Catra (always mistreated him, no matter if she’s a higher rank or equal). Despite being told they’re good people deep down or later in the series, Lonnie, Rogelio, Scorpia, Catra, and Adora all do this. Even the NICE characters do this, like Scorpia and Adora. And his BOYFRIEND never stands up for him. It’s appalling. Seeing a GOOD person get mistreated by SUPPOSEDLY OTHER GOOD people isn’t funny.
But here’s what IS funny. In a cosmic sort of way…
This is Mantenna
Tumblr media
He was the original butt monkey if She-Ra. And by that, I mean he gets shit on. A lot. By Hordak. And it’s actually funny.
You see, nothing brings OG Hordak joy like trapdoors and using them on Mantenna. The way it works is that whenever Hordak is pissed or unamused (he once made Mantenna try to make him laugh for example), he presses a button of his throne and Mantenna drops through the floor. And occasionally there are twists added to keep things fresh.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Spring trap door
Tumblr media
Backup trap door
Tumblr media
Multi trap door
You get the idea. It was mostly for slapstick. It was never meant to be taken seriously. Unlike with Kyle.
For me, the major things that set Mantenna apart from Kyle are these.
1. Mantenna is evil. He’s a pipsqueak and dogged on. But he’s still evil. Kyle is a nice and kind person and by all means shouldn’t be with the Horde.
2. Mantenna is tormented and talked down to by Hordak and Catra, his superiors. Kyle is torments by superiors AND peers
3. Kyle is mistreated by ‘good’ people. Lonnie and Catra are two of the worst offenders, but they’re good people, I swear, they’re just in a bad situation. 😒 Seriously. Those two are painted as good people deep down and still hurt Kyle. Scorpia and Adora did it too, despite being nice and good as visibly as possible, even in the Horde. And again, Rogelio is supposedly Kyle’s boyfriend, and never helps.
Mantenna on the other hand is mistreated by people like Catra and Hordak, who are unabashedly BAD people. They’re never painted as gods deep down. They do bad things like abuse and berate Mantenna, because they’re bad people. And because most of the people in the Horde ARE BAD AND EVIL(there are some good people that leave, but they pretty much lave the Horde as soon as possible without sticking around, and everyone stuck around in the reboot for no reason), they genuinely do not care.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This guy? Just saw this whole thing play out. He don’t give a shit.
4. It’s slapstick. Slapstick humor isn’t meant to be taken seriously. Mantenna is a bit of an awkward, nervous guy. But he never read as the same level of traumatized as Kyle to me. Maybe I’m misreading it though. But the point is that a trapdoor is a completely different joke than being deprived of rations for a cake that goes to waste.
And 5. Mantenna actually gets wins. I can’t post many pics now. But there have been times where Hordak actually doesn’t get the drop on Mantenna. Once he tries the trap door to find it filled with flowers because of Perfuma. Once Hordak used a trap door on a boat, sinking himself in the process. And once Mantenna turned the tables completely.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kyle though? He got a sort-of win in one episode? Even then it was only after he almost killed himself moving the tank.
My point here is, rather than have an established character, used for a much funnier and lighthearted gag, with a genuinely fun design, Nate and his crew decided to use Kyle. A regular, not very strong, not very skilled, not very masculine boy. He’s gay. He’s possibly neurodivergent. And he’s got the biggest heart. And Crew-Ra decided because he commuted the ultimate crime of being a cisgender white male, he must suffer constant abuse. If that isn’t proof of what the reboot REALLY is about, I don’t know what is. It’s not about friendship. It’s not about being gay. It’s not about breaking the cycle of abuse. It’s about using this show to send very negative messages to children. To hurt people for no good reason. And with the casual and brazen contempt for the original that Nate and some of Crew-Ra displays, I’m honestly surprised they named him Kyle, and not Lou, or Micheal, or Larry.
Sorry for the long message. I just felt like this was a major discovery on my part.
Exactly! The original did it in a way that's actually funny and doesn't leave you feeling bad. I seriously do not see the humor in seeing a relatively nice guy (despite being in the horde but even then he free Bow that one time) so it's just not funny when you see him getting made fun of for the millionith time. Another series that does butt monkeys well is Ouran High School Host Club, since it's actually funny. Tamaki gets actual development, even the people who make fun of him are shown multiple times to really care, and he actually gets wins

catra having implied BPD do NOT justify her actions.
nothing justifies. she IS an abuser.
explanation under the cut.
i can tell because i also have BPD. and saying that catra's actions are okay because she has BPD is the equivalent as:
1. implying that people with BPD are, by default, abusers;
i know this may seem like an exaggeration, but pay attention: by saying that catra's abusive actions are acceptable because she has BPD, you are correlating the fact that she is an abuser with the fact that she has BPD. i mean, i, as someone with BPD, never tried to kill someone and abuse them for my entire life.
2. babying people who have BPD and making it seem like we shouldn't suffer consequences for actions like ABUSING OTHER PEOPLE.
yes, we should. we tend to victimize ourselves more than others, we tend to have a lot of anger issues and we tend to see ourselves as bad people when we do something we consider wrong. but that doesn't justify hurting another person in such a harsh way as abuse. it just might explain some of our actions, but that's it. for example, i already had a very strong "anger attack" and ended up offending people around me without thinking, but i realized i was wrong and regretted it not long after. Yes, i apologized. yes, i redeemed myself. and yes, i have recovered from that bad experience as well as the people i offended. catra could have done the same: realized what she had done wrong and tried to improve, but she didn't. she continued to feed her own hatred and act worse and worse. I KNOW: every person with BPD deals with it in a different way. catra's abuse also have contributed to her character. however, it's just as i said: everything may explain. NOTHING justifies.
3. making adora's abuse about catra.
i don't really think i should explain this one, but here we go: if you already understood what i explained in the topics before this one and still try to find a way to justify catra's awful actions, then you're simply making adora's abuse entirely about catra. i mean, if your friend was being abused and told you that, would you ask "but what about your abuser? did they got abused too?"... no, you probably wouldn't.
that's essentially it. i tried to handle this subject in the most simple and easy to understand way, while also trying to be as delicate as possible.

Daniel Watches She-Ra
& The Princesses Of Power
-S1E3- 'Razz'
Todays' She-Ra Watchthrough Art: Look I have been having a real shit week or so let me just bullshit this one thanks
Tumblr media
Dumb question but why is Glimmers mom British? Also this is probably just me but it looks like her wings are attached to her hair & I can't stop thinking about it.
Tumblr media
Oh also yo the theme song?
Yeah that's pretty swell.
A big step up from the original cartoon which was just.....sad? It's just like a sad attempt of being a cool retro cartoon theme song. It fails to live up to any of the greats of decades past.
TMNT 87? Iconic. Badass. Groovy. Radical.
Transformers? Iconic as well. Absolutely fucks.
The Super Mario Bros. Super Show? Fucking ART that makes Hans Zimmer look like an absolute fucking dork.
Sonic Underground? LITERALLY THE GREATEST FUCKING PIECE OF MUSIC EVER COMPOSED BY MANKIND.
80s She-Ra? It's like watching a cat spray diarrhea across my carpet for a solid minute. It's just sad.
Okay so I literally don't know any of their names but uh-
These two. These two evil goons right here.
Are-
Tumblr media
Okay so are they like gay? I don't know why but my brain saw this & went "Is this dude dating that lizard? are they going to smooch?"
I have no evidence or any proof to back up my claim here.
But I'm gonna just assume these two are gay & smooching & holding hands & stuff.
Anyways these goon squad characters are lame, also fuck that one girl who was bullying Cat-Ra, like, damn. The fuck is her problem?
Like leave that cat alone she's a fucking cat. Who bullies a cat??
Fuck you!!
Yeah so the only two goons I find myself enjoying are these two because I just get a strong feeling that they might be gay.
Again, I have no proof or evidence. But I'm gonna just say that they are anyway because I decided that I want to & you can't stop me.
Tumblr media
Also one of them is a lizard dude. Like I said, that objectively makes him cool as fuck because reptiles are rad as hell.
ALSO GLIMMER & ADORA ARE SO GAY??
Tumblr media
LIKE- OKAY FIRST OFF THIS POSE ABOVE THIS SENTENCE? THAT AIN'T A POSE OF A STRAIGHT PERSON. SHE'S AT THE VERY LEAST BI OR LESBIAN OR SOMETHING. BUT NAH THAT POSE IS GIVING ME VERY HEAVY FAG VIBES /POS
GOD THEY'RE GAY THEY'RE GAY THEY ARE GIRLFRIENDS IDC
Tumblr media
I fucking squealed at this they're SO IN LOVE AAAAAA
GOD THEY ARE SO GAY
SHE'S BEING SO GAY JUST TALKING ABOUT ADORA/SHE-RA
GAY?? GAY
REAL
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
IF THEY DONT KISS & HOLD HANDS BY THE END IM GOING TO PISS ON MY NEIGHBOURS MAILBOX
POV: Glimmer introduces you to her wife (she's magic & can become very tall & glows bc she's just cool like that)
Tumblr media
Also I like, find She-Ra so fucking funny from the design itself?
She's just.....tall. She's a tall lass. Big. Large. Massive. A Tree.
Like, the fact that she's just....big. Like this is a needed change for her transformation. Being taller is an essential part of it.
One of her magical powers is just being really tall I guess. Like that's part of the transformation, she gets BIG. So that's just considered a power, because it makes her taller.
Being a tall fuck is considered a magical ability in this universe.
Also why did this episode just turn into Pixars' Brave (2012) for the middle part? I'm not upset I'm just confused bc I didn't expect to be hit with this sudden flashback to 2012 shit. But I like this old lady.
But (good job daniel you used but twice in a row, you're so good at writing you stupid fucking idiot-) I just kept being reminded of Brave while watching. I don't know if that's a good thing or not. I haven't watched Brave in like a decade. Like, damn though, this part just reminded me of it a lot & I feel it's worth mentioning.
Tumblr media
I should rewatch Brave sometime.
AHEM-
SHE'S SO FUCKING CUTE I WANT TO CRY SHE'S LITERALLY THE SCRUNKLY SCRIMBLO BLORBO AND ALSO A FAGGOT. I LOVE HER. PROTECT THIS SPARKLY FAGGOT & HER MAGICAL WIFE.
GRAHHHHHHH
Tumblr media
Whore-Dak Update:
Okay Hordak, you get points just because you told Shadow Weaver to go fuck herself. That's incredibly based & awesome of you. To not only tell the wizard bitch to shove her stupid fucking shadow magic fart clouds up her ass. But you also were like "Hey angry lesbian cat, you get a promotion because you're epic" & that's so real.
I respect a villain who doesn't bully cats for no reason.
(other than because you're a huge bitch cough shadow cunt cough)
Tumblr media
You're still nowhere near being Skeletor. But you are definitely a far better villain than the original 80s Hordak was. Keep it up buddy.

I’m gonna continue saying this till everyone hears me LOUD AND CLEAR:
The Reason yall praise Lumity while giving Catradora so much flack is because Lumity is “Rivals to Lovers” at Best. they never cross that territory that would put them into enemies. Not Once.
“Catradora is so toxic! Catra is so mean! Blah blah blah!” YES! they are ENEMIES that is apart of the “Enemies to Lovers” (Well specifically childhood friends to enemies to friends again to lovers but I digress) Enemies are toxic, they are messy- what? were you expecting them to magically hold hands and skip through fields like Adora was expecting in s5 ep6? Cause that’s not how this works.
I do think it would have been better if we had a bit of a longer run time with the show to showcase more of these two however yall have GOT to STOP comparing Literal apples to oranges in this case.
(I also want to give a bit of a think piece towards people saying that “Adora and Prime don’t have strong Antagonistic chemistry” and I think thats kinda the point cause Prime functions in a very similar way to Shadow Weaver in getting to Adora by using those around most namely Catra and that during the runtime of the show Adora and Hordak had ZERO antagonistic chemistry cause up till that point it was mostly “dumbass gay vs disaster gay” make of that what you will.)

All right, one of the main things I talk about on this blog are ships, so here's a quick rundown of my favorites.
Tumblr media
Kyoko Sakura/Sayaka Miki (Puella Magi Madoka Magica
Ah, KyoSaya, my beloved. What can I say about them? Let's start with how they are each other's perfect foils, with several important similarities to draw them together while several major differences to keep that spicy clashing. They are the perfect example of soulmates, two characters who, when in opposition, constantly get worse and worse, but when they're on the same page, they bring out each other's best qualities. Not bad for a relationship that started with mutual murder attempts and had a murder/suicide as its midpoint!
Canon? Eh, sort of. Obviously, PMMM likes to skirt the line, but they definitely knew what they were doing. So, not officially confirmed canon, more of, "And they were roommates!"
Tumblr media
2. Suletta Mercury/Miorine Rembran (Gundam: the Witch from Mercury)
You know a pairing is strong when it's the most recent one but also rocketed up to the number two spot.
Suletta and Miorine are opposites attracting in its purest form. The socially anxious and all loving country girl and the cold and cynical corporate heiress, these two are such fundamentally different people that if it weren't for the bizarre circumstances that brought them together, they probably wouldn't even be friends. But they were brought together, and as the grew to understand one another and got closer, both they and we found just how much they had in common, and how perfectly they complemented one another, with each of their strengths covering the other's weaknesses.
Canon? Absolutely. They're married, bitches! No further interpretation needed!
Tumblr media
3. Shinji Ikari/Asuka Langley/Rei Ayanami (Neon Genesis Evangelion)
The one poly ship I am absolutely feral over, AsuShinRei (or the Israfel Special) are an example of a ship that cannot work in canon, would absolutely be a terrible idea in canon, but man, don't you wish you lived in the world where it would work? For as toxic, avoidant, and abusive these three are to each other, their respective traumas and personalities are such that if they could get just the slightest bit better and reach out to one another instead of pushing each other away, they would click so wonderfully well. Alas, it is not meant to be.
Canon? Lol, no.
Tumblr media
4. Princess Entrapta/Hordak (She-Ra and the Princesses of Power)
I debated putting this one so high up over the heavy hitters that it sits atop upon, but at the end of the day, as a grumpy autistic introvert, these two just meant so much to me. It's like each represents different aspects of my personality, and watching them interact made me feel seen in a way I didn't even know I needed.
Canon? Kind of. At the very least, they're extremely close friends with a possibility for romance.
Tumblr media
5. Luz Noceda/Amity Blight (The Owl House)
I had a real hard time choosing whether this or Catradora should take the number five spot, but while Catradora has that wonderful enemies to lovers with so much delicious angst, Lumity edges it out by being the rare pairing that got together at the midpoint, letting us actually see their relationship build and grow instead of ending on them getting together, and it was wonderful.
Canon? Absolutely.
Tumblr media
6. Adora/Catra (She-Ra and the Princesses of Power)
But let's not take anything away from Catradora. I love enemies to lovers. It's that spice of conflict between two people that are at constant odds but also deeply understand one another better than their friends do that makes all the difference, and them being former best friends just pushes it over the edge. You can feel how much they care, no matter how often or how violently they fought, and Catra being pulled back from the brink and the two finally being honest with their feelings was so cathartic.
Canon? Hell yeah.
Tumblr media
7. Nanoha Tamamachi/Fate Testarossa (Lyrical Nanoha)
An oldie but a goodie. Nanoha and Fate are probably my first real ship, and set the standard for many of my ships to come. Enemies to lovers, close personal relationship, battle couple, whole nine yards. And while it predates me truly getting into shipping, meaning I'm not as gaga over them as I am the others, you have got to respect those who paved the way.
Canon? Basically. I mean, the time period and culture prevented them from outright saying it, but come on.
Tumblr media
8. Marisa Kirisame/Alice Margatroid (Touhou)
To be honest, I don't ship/ship these two like I do the others. More of, I read a lot of really touching doujins about these two when I was first getting into Touhou and I like their dynamic. But like NanoFate, you have to give it up to the OG's.
Canon? Nah.
And any other ships fall into "I liked them when I was a kid, but feel really weird talking about them as an adult" or "MC x Best Girl in a harem series, but does that really count?" or stuff that I like but don't feel strongly enough about them to include.
