"A long, long time ago, a giant called Vold lived in the hills above Kåseberga. There are those who believe it was he who laid out the stone ship. He also turned on his own mother, the giantess Kitta who knew secrets of sorcery. Using magic of his own, Vold kept his mother tied up at a place called Kittabusken (= the Kitta bush), near Ystad, where he forced her to expose her body for public amusement. Kitta gained her revenge by asking passing wayfarers to dance the night away. She would keep them dancing until the cock crowed and the sun went up, by which time they had worn the soles of both their shoes and their feet to shreds and danced themselves to death. One day Vold was being pursued by foes of his, and was forced to make a precipitous escape. He drew a ship in the sand, and sailed away from the shore for ever."

Most people in the world have heard of the awe-inspiring and mysterious megalithic site in England called Stonehenge, but of course, it doesn’t stand alone. Sweden’s Ales Stenar is equally as mysterious, as the reason for its construction or the method used remains unknown. These 59 stones were placed in the shape of a ship but was it more than a burial ground?

I don’t even know what kind of question to ask but I always like asking people who live in different countries this: If you could pick 3 places in your country for people to visit/ things to do what would you recommend? What 2 things would you recommend they eat? What is one souvenir they should buy?
Hi darling! Thank you so much for your question and for participating!

I’d say the megalithic monument of Ales Stenar, consisting of 59 large boulders forming a stone ship, in Ystad. The Botanical Gardens in Gothenburg. And Malmö as a whole. It’s an amazing city.

If people are visiting, I’d say they should try a traditional meal of meatballs, boiled potatoes, brown sauce and lingonberry. And smörgåstårta. I’ll include a picture.

A dalahäst. It’s made out of wood and traditionally painted in a red colour with patterns. Made in Dalarna, you can buy it in a lost of other places. It’s supposed to bring good luck.

One hundred and sixty-six weeks vs. Two hundred and thirteen weeks / Forty-nine months vs. Three hundred and four weeks. I visted Ales Stenar today. It’s a very, very long road to reach the stones and it was so painful in my ribs and my back but it worked out. I saw so many swallows today. They flew so close to me and I wish I was one of them. Up by the stones, it was very windy and in the wind I heard voices from the past. I saw a big white, fluffy dog in the harbor and its eyes seemed so kind and its tongue was so long. It was an old dog, I could tell by the way it was walking and it felt so special to see it. It felt like I was looking at Lullaby. A seagull was on the building behind the dog. It was picking its bib feathers and I looked amazed at it. Thomas often fixed with his bib and I often called him seagull. I heard the blackbirds sing and I heard the nightingale sing. I saw so many different types of flowers and it all felt so unreal. The weather to visit was perfect today. Sunny but cold; I still burned my face and it hurts so much. As we were driving from Kåseberga towards Sandhammaren, mum pointed out a roadsign to Backåkra. I didn’t turn my head to see and she said it again. I ignored her trying to not let the flashbacks consume me so they devoured me. I was there 6th of june 2019, Lullaby’s last summer. She was waiting for me at home while I visited the museum for Dag Hammarskjöld. Ever since she was taken, there’s this weird closed in smell all over the house. The if only’s will echo in my head even after I’m gone.
