From Rod Serling to Frank Lloyd Wright
Here they are again, quotes for November this time. As usual they represent a variety of viewpoints from various folks, some better known than others. Enjoy!   The writer’s role is to menace the public’s conscience. He must have a position, a point of view. He must see the arts as a vehicle of social criticism and he must focus on the issues of his time. — Rod Serling Nothing splendid has ever…

ABOUT THOSE WHO ABANDONED KISTER
edit: apparently the WALTEN Files official twt has been going around harassing Alex’s supporters so I’ve removed Martin Walls from this list.
Now that Alex has been confirmed to be innocent— well— of the manipulation and predatory behavior, there are still things they had done wrong (and taken accountability for), lots of people are hating on those like Chezzkids, Ty Osborne, Spidey, and the others who supported Ven/etc.
Yes, if they had read the document, they would have immediately seen how fishy it was. Yes, they should have stayed neutral at the very least. Yes, they “followed the crowd.”
There is not a single person who should be debating that their decision to do as they did was immoral. They chose PR over an innocent persons reputation and life.
We shouldn’t be defending or excusing these actions, but we should also be aware of WHY they would immediately support victims.
A good part of the blame rests on the shoulders of the fans/audience.
If certain people didn’t take these events as an excuse to dox and threaten people, this wouldn’t have happened. If certain people were capable of acting like civilized human beings, this wouldn’t have happened.
People who supported DID support got harassed, threatened, and doxxed.
I do not support the ex-crew members actions, but I will not condemn them for it. They were not protecting their reputation and career, they were protecting their life and privacy. Doxxing can be deadly.
You CANNOT create an environment where a blow to one’s reputation can endanger their LIFE, and then have the audacity to act SURPRISED or OFFENDED when those people act purely to save their own skin.

-MY TWO CENTS
so being apart of the tmc fandom and having taken a lot of inspiration from alex this whole situation has been sketchy from the start but i’m gonna talk abt ty and other people who left the tmc crew
the biggest, most likely, reason why they left is guilty by association. a lot of people forget that factor when it comes to things like this. it’s also why SO many ppl who supported alex got send fucking DEATH THREATS.
ty claimed to know about the situation and the allegations, but not enough to make a good judgement, but reading the documents he made his decision to leave. ty presented no evidence, no sympathy, and was entirely empathetic with the victims. he had only claimed to spoken to two, Ven and most likely DB because only, as i’m aware, have been three victims including Ven, DB, and mitcha.
not to mention spidey had also left. am i saying that they both hate alex with all their hearts? no. but am i saying that they most likely left due to their own reputation at stake and being accused of the same things that have happened to multiple people, in legal and in not legal cases, before? yes.
EDIT:
not to mention how there was over TWENTY VICTIMS?? that seems WAY to unreasonable if this doc was started in i think april of last year😭

I've had this little Spider-Verse of mine for a while now, but never really got back to it. I'd like to try and make some more content for it though because I love the designs I came up with for each of them,,,😩 Of course Since The Holidays are here at last, as a treat, I will also put some of the original doodle gatherings [First one being from february, so just note my style developed a bit since then] here:

That Milt Khal appreciation post reminded me of [this article] I read, years and years ago(peep the upload date), that serves as a guide of sorts to how to point out which animator was at the helm for a storyboard for "The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack". "Flapjack" was one of my favorite shows at the time, primarily because of the art style, and coming across this article helped me fall that much deeper in love with it.
(Aside: these are screenshots of the article because the link leads you to Pop-Up Hell lol)
But it's distinguishments like these that 1. inspire me to continue craving collaborative art and 2. are a great example of why the best animation cannot be made with an algorithm. I know that puppet-rigs like ToonBoom are cost-effective and good at simplifying the "task" of animating(the first mistake was treating art like a task, but that's a rant for another day), but it's so damn limiting. The potential for showing personality and life in your characters is shrunk considerably, and what's even worse, your artistic eye and hand are robbed of their personality. Fifty people working on the same program, picking from the same set of frames for mouths and eyes and hand positions to just flicker between, is (at least to me) not nearly as aesthetically-pleasing as what's going on in those pics up top.
Tumblr media
Look at these wiggly-ass proportions! I love it!
This isn't to shame any individual artist who does use ToonBoom, btw. I'm directing this complaint more towards animation companies who have all the money in the world to spend on more traditional animation and actively decide to throw all that art into a machine instead. And also, this is just entirely the opinion of one schmuck: I would rather any proportional errors be born of a manual drawing oversight than a mistake in plugging in the right code any day of the week, but for all I know I could be the odd one out. I just like seeing people's personal flourishes being visible in their work, and not completely homogenized into the Animation Singularity to the point where certain parodies can be made aesthetically indistinguishable from the original work.
idk, dude. I just wanna see some more head-swaggles.

Here Comes Fall, and October's Quotes
Well, another month has gone by and as we await the arrival of Fall, weather-wise, here in the Southern States, let me present the Halloween month’s array of quotes. October showcases its share of genius and, hopefully, awe-inspiring thoughts from a variety of well known, and not-so-well known folks. It’s still a good read, though!   Chaos is the only thing that honestly wants you to grow. The…

Very loose skeleton of a storyline/plotline for The Cryptid Crawler as well as little “origins” to the villains, a linking series of unfortunate events, domino effect:
[plus some bonus info at the end, this is a long read, but it’s a fun one!]:
=======
Acedia: Issue 1) introduction, tour part 1: the origins. Homemade closet costume. Setting the stage, essentially. Glimpses of future characters and villains to be introduced.
Doc Ock: Issue 2) incident with Norman, loses himself physically and mentally, revenge rampage. Costume enhancement after Otto's recovery as a payment of gratitude. New suit, new look, beginnings of a friendship.
Vulture: Issue 3) seeks out Norman as he is unable to find or contact his friend anymore, that was the last straw. (Came back from business trip to find he can't contact Otto?) Distracting him from Norman to keep him from making a mistake he will regret. A struggle to fight, a losing battle against him, Otto comes in to protect Acedia and stop Adrian, gets him to calm down and snap out of it. Things get explained, but there are still questions left to be answered.
Lizard: Issue 4) tour part 2, seeking answers about powers, Otto's curiosity. Genetics gone wrong, detour in the sewers. Otto teams up. Otto manages to gain samples and help with research to find cures and reverse the incident. Curt is out of work for the moment.. Axolotl reasons.
Electra [2-part?]: Issue 5) post-Connors incident, repairs needed. Norman shows for business, leaves with mysterious power outage. Messy lab, heavier equipment, an electricians nightmare. Horror story begins. || Max is sent into emergency care. Things seem to only get worse. Psychologically distressed, goes on a meltdown rampage, not on purpose. Eventually gets incapacitated and sent back to get more special care. She's very unwell.
Shocker: Issue 6) Tracking down Connors Lab saboteur, seeking explanations, find Montana. Questioning leads to forced removal from bar-- Answers received. This is the guy. Fight Shocker, keep asking questions until he settles and explains everything. Norman.. || Norman has been privately funding some top secret underground projects, but otherwise has no further involvement. But whose projects are these?
Ferrol [”venom”]: Issue 7) Trail has currently run dry, visit friend’s research celebration and speech with Otto, Norman is there, friend leaves on ocean expedition trip, comes back with an unearthly specimen. Back on land, Norman finds out and shuts down the research, keeping the findings to himself and removes friend’s name from the records, friend isn’t happy and sneaks in to break out their specimen-- bonds with specimen, a symbiote, and wrecks havoc on the Oscorp labs, has to be taken out and subdued by Acedia. taken back to Otto’s place after and explains everything. Otto allows friend to stay and offers friend and their coworkers to work for him instead. Friend likes that. Norman is prime suspect and lead. || Norman is furious at the sight of his labs destroyed and his specimen stolen. He’ll have to do something about this problem.
Rhino & Sandlady: Issue 8) Victims of circumstance bond over tales of what brought them to a shared cell. separated and sent to different places, the two experience their own unfortunate life-changing fates. unbeknownst, their events were linked by the same source. || Following the lead, get to Oscorp, find a pink sandy trail. Forget the lead, rescue Norman unknowingly, get chased by a woman of sand, fight nearly ends bad until a new baddie shows and takes out the Sandlady.. Now there’s 2 threats. Otto comes in to help take on one of them, Norman essentially escapes punishment for his actions once again. The lead will have to continue at a later point.
Mysterio: Issue 9) Media is popping off with activity hearing about the wild events occurring in NY, but things have settled and calmed.. But not for long. new villain debuts with a spectacular bang. Psychedelic experience ensues. Fun, despite the mental torment. || Mysterio escapes custody, escape artist? During escape encounters another in hiding. Tinkerer.
The mysteries just keep coming..
Fate is cruel.
==================
Further Ideas:
- Green Goblin has appeared in NY but has yet to make his appearance known with a grand display. has been secretly scoping things out. odd happenings have occurred around the city, but no opportunity and risen to really try and check them out. He has already set his sights on Norman.
- Tinkerer is identified and located, trying to initiate friendly contact with him causes the paranoid recluse to bolt, requiring time to chase him down for questioning. it’s fine, he’s unharmed, but he has things he needs to discuss back at his place in his personal life.
- Kingpin is eventually found out to be the big one in charge after some encounters with Tombstone and Hammerhead separately. Hammerhead was more cooperative than Tombstone in dishing out some information about the Kingpin. However, Kingpin is a hard man to.. pin down. (pun fully intended hehe)
- Electra returns and is kind of a wild card. Learns of who actually did this to her.. seeks out a sort of revenge on Montana/Shocker who has to fight her off and explain to her that it was not his intention. It takes awhile, but she finally calms down and and registers his words. They do end up being an odd pair of friends in the end tho.
- The Sinister Six is surprisingly NOT founded by Otto, but instead Adrian.. and it’s founded from a good place in his heart. He tracks down and brings together Mysterio, Shocker, Sandlady, Rhino, and Electra to create the Sinister Six. They want equal revenge on the same man, but they also have a secondary and even bigger person they’d like revenge on, too.. The Kingpin. Otto isn’t entirely left out.. playing the role of “Master Planner” in a way where he’s helped them with a few plans of what to do on occasion.
- The Daily Bugle is what’s mostly giving titles to some of the villains. like “The Lizard” despite Curt having changed into an Axolotl, a salamander (Jonah doesn’t care, it’s a lizard looking creature, therefore it’s a lizard, who cares?). or Sandlady, tried to call her a Sandwoman, but she came by to correct him that she is a LADY. And also Doc Ock. Funny, the Bugle can never get a good picture of Acedia, but the pics of the bad guys are usually quite good.. this is why Jonah refers to Acedia as “The Cryptid Crawler” since the photos of Acedia look similar to pictures of Bigfoot. Always blurry and unfocused, hard to make out details.
