Giving this its own post too because I'm right and I'm going to say it no matter how many bigoted autistic people it pisses off.

I’m so fucking tired of neurodivergent (usually just blatantly autistic coded) characters being evil and we’re all just supposed to pretend it’s okay because uh *checks notes* “autistic people are pure innocent babies and can never do anything wrong” (Even when they're doing blatantly evil shit on purpose and having fun with it)

No. Shut the fuck up. Normalize beating the shit out of bigots even when they’re autistic. I’m so fucking tired of other autistic people saying it’s okay for them to be bigots because they’re autistic.

Especially if you're allistic and you write an autistic character who's an absolute fucking trashcan of a bigoted human being but then you pretend it's okay because "they're just a wittle baby uwu" you need to delete the fucking save file and stop infantilizing autistic people.

Pro tip, all of you assholes: Putting autistic people up on a pedestal and pretending we can never do anything wrong or never be bigoted is literally just another form of infantilization and ableism, and especially when you're claiming we can't be bigoted, you are actively oppressing other people.

Boy, do I have news for you.

Almost everyone in the comments seems to think being autistic means you’re some innocent angel who can do no wrong, which is incredibly dehumanising. Why do allistic people insist on either painting us as cute little babies or as the devil incarnate? It’s so stupid.

PSA: Stop Infantilizing c!Slimecicle

I’m making this post because it frustrates me a lot. Treating c!Slime as a child harkens back to some very shitty and ableist opinions about autistic adults and I’m begging this fandom to stop.

c!Slime is not a child. He is explicitly an adult. Other characters don’t treat him like a child. The only reason any of you see him as childlike is because of the autistic traits he shows.

While I don’t think the coding was intentional, it is extremely strong and is there regardless.

Let me explain. Canonically, c!Slime doesn’t understand human social cues. He is seen as naive, innocent, and gullible. He takes everything literally and doesn’t understand non-literal meanings. He seeks sensory stimulation through repeated phrases and the pressure of enclosed spaces. He tends to overshare and struggles to understand social boundaries. He doesn’t understand personal space, and greets people and says goodbye by kissing them, not seeming to understand that this isn’t normal. He lacks typical fear when put in dangerous situations. He copies other people’s mannerisms to better pass as human.

These aren’t child-like traits. These are autistic traits. And the entire narrative of pretending to be human just drives this home more - it mirrors the real experience of how many autistic adults have to “mask” being autistic.

Regardless of intent, c!Slime is coded as an autistic adult. Not just in a way where you can interpret him that way, but in a way where this is the strongest interpretation.

And this is the problem. Autistic adults constantly have to face infantalization as allistics don’t see us adults. They see us as mentally being children. They see us as lesser.

This is why I’m begging you guys to stop treating c!Slime like a child. Because to the autistic people in this fandom, it’s extremely uncomfortable.

Stop calling him c!Quackity’s son, stop treating him like an “innocent little baby”. Stop making jokes where the punchline is him not understanding an “adult” topic or complex social situations. Stop making jokes where the punchline is that he needs a babysitter.

Because while c!Slime isn’t canonically autistic, he is so strongly coded as such that treating him like a child in this way feels really uncomfortable. And I know I’m not the only autistic person who sees it this way.

happy autism acceptance month! here are some random things in no particular order, mostly for allistic people to take note of:

respect autistic people who arent ‘savants’. this should be basic knowledge but i still see people expecting every single autistic person to have some special talent or something. it makes us feel as if we’re only worth as much as our labor.

erase the word retard from your vocabulary. this includes insults with -tard as a suffix. just because you didnt say the full word, doesnt mean its not offensive. i cant believe i have to say this in 2019. stop saying retard as an insult. this is not only offensive to autistic people, but to anyone with a developmental disorder (and even people with physical disabilities such as genetic disorders get it). stop trying to be edgy and ironic. its not funny.

stop sharing ableist memes. i doubt you understand how it felt to be an autistic person during the long, LONG era of people sharing that “moon moon” meme, when the original post it came from literally called the dog a retard and the rest of the jokes were all based around the hilarious idea of someone with a mental disability or developmental disorder trying to navigate everyday life. and when people tried to point this out, we were made out to be crazy hysterical sjws.

stop infantilising us. we arent children. a 21 year old is a 21 year old no matter where we are on the autism spectrum. yes, even autistic people who flap in public or are non verbal or need a caretaker. autistic adults are still adults and we dont need to be talked down to.

also, stop erasing us from our own conversations. stop talking over us. if you are an autism mommy or friend or caretaker or whatever - you are NOT autistic. your voice is not an autistic voice. stop acting like we cant speak or think for ourselves.

stop infantilisng, desexualising, and marginalising autistic characters. canon autistic characters are few and far between, so often autistic people will latch onto autistic-coded characters. those are more common, as creators will wittingly or unwittingly use a bunch of autistic stereotypes and traits, usually in order to denote a character as stupid, slow, oblivious, socially inadept, etc. whether or not autistic people choose to reclaim these characters, i see allistic people in fandoms ALL THE GODDAMN TIME taking autistic characters and stripping them (even if theyre adults) of any sexuality (”my sweet innocent baby”, acting like they dont know what sex is, excluding them from fanfic etc), infantilising them (saying theyre the baby of the cast or that other characters of a similar age are their parents, acting like they cant do things unsupervised, etc etc) and marginalising them (excluding them from fanart/fics, acting like they arent as important as other characters) yes, this is all stuff that mostly happens on the internet, but we know that fiction affects reality and the experiences i (and my autistic friends) have had in fandoms that do these things is not pleasant.

these are just a handful of things you can adjust as an ally to make an autistic persons life a little easier. of course if you want to do more, you can donate to foundations founded and run by autistic people (ASAN is a good one) attend protests, events, and the like, and educate yourself! none of us are the same, but all of us have needs that arent being met in this world

I was scrolling through trying to find this autism acceptance question-a-day thing I had on my phone a while ago, and I found THIS.

Oh, have I got a thing or two to say about this.

Let’s first take a look at what each word means: AWARENESS:

knowledge or perception of a situation or fact: "we need to raise public awareness of the issue" synonyms: consciousness, recognition, realization, understanding, grasp, appreciation, knowledge, insight, familiarity, light-bulb moment, cognizance.

The closest thing to acceptance in its synonyms is appreciation. But just because you appreciate something doesn’t mean you think it’s a good thing. It can also mean “a full understanding of the situation,” something a shit-ton of the NT community lacks. Most likely they mean “consciousness” or if we’re talking about April 2nd, “light-bulb moment.” Now let’s look at acceptance: the action of consenting to receive or undertake something offered: "charges involving the acceptance of bribes" synonyms: receipt, receiving, taking, obtaining, undertaking, ▪ a draft or bill that is accepted by being signed. 2. the action or process of being received as adequate or suitable, typically to be admitted into a group: "you must wait for acceptance into the club" synonyms: welcome, favorable reception, adoption 3. agreement with or belief in an idea, opinion, or explanation: "acceptance of the teaching of the church" synonyms: belief in, trust in, faith in, confidence in, credence in, ... more ▪ willingness to tolerate a difficult or unpleasant situation: "a mood of resigned acceptance" synonyms: toleration, endurance, forbearance, sufferance

(We’re gonna pretend that last one isn’t a thing.) Most likely what we’re reaching for is the 2nd definition: “the action or process of being received as adequate or suitable, typically to be admitted into a group: "you must wait for acceptance into the club" synonyms: welcome, favorable reception, adoption.” And, oh, look at that; awareness isn’t a synonym of acceptance. So, you’re telling me that if we keep spreading awareness of autism, we’re gonna create acceptance? BULL. SHIT.

Y’all’ve been spreading “awareness” of autism for 10+ years and it hasn’t done shit for us. It’s only to make life easier for you. “Autism Awareness” DOES NOT lead to Autism Acceptance.

If awareness truly lead to acceptance, parents wouldn’t be giving their children bleach to “cure” their autism.

If awareness truly lead to acceptance, people wouldn’t still believe the bullshit that vaccines cause autism. 

If awareness truly lead to acceptance, people wouldn’t be denying the experiences of some autistics because they’re too “high-functioning.”

If awareness truly lead to acceptance, autistic people wouldn’t be abused by their parents and carers.

If awareness truly lead to acceptance, parents and carers wouldn’t take a video of their meltdowns and upload them to the internet. 

If awareness truly lead to acceptance, you NTs wouldn’t be playing the fucking martyr/savior/tragedy cards.

If awareness truly lead to acceptance, more autistics would be employed.

If awareness truly lead to acceptance, ableist TV shows, movies, and books wouldn’t exist.

But guess what? EVERYTHING I LISTED is still happening to us.

So no, whoever the fuck made that fucking picture; autism awareness does NOT lead to autism acceptance BY ANY MEANS. Because it’s been going on for 10+ years and we are STILL oppressed by people like you. We are still not considered human by society. We are still demonized, dehumanized, abused, used, denied, exploited, and discriminated against; what’s worse is that a large portion of it’s due to the most well-known “autism advocacy charity” in the world. 

We try to tell people about how bad they are, how much they hate us, and how a good majority of the autism community despises A$, and yet people still believe them over us.

I am not to be a passive, submissive autistic you try to paint some of us out to be.

I am infuriated, sick, and tired of us being treated as subhuman or even less than subhuman. And yes, I mean us. Not as self-centered as you claim we are, huh? Yes, we actually do care about others. WHAT A FUCKING SHOCK!

allister’s squire and confidant. lower in level of training and certainly younger, but social status is entirely up to you! this is a romantic or romance-centered connection, seeing as this squire is likely the first person allister feels romantic love for. this is definitely a scandalous plot seeing as the event is centered in times when homosexuality was seen in a bad light so it’ll likely be secret, meaning that it’s a possibility that this relationship comes with a ton of frustration and angst. add on the fact that allister is married and you’ve got more drama.

the wifey™. they very much have a loveless, arranged marriage. whether they have kids or not is up for discussion! despite there not being any romantic connection, they get along well and respect each other. she may or may not be aware of allister’s bisexuality or even the fact that he’s cheating on her.

anyone from opposing kingdoms who has felt the aftermath of war and has been affected by imber’s violence against other nations. maybe they have a personal vendetta? maybe they just want to make the military commander see what his actions have caused? it could go any way, really and is applicable to more than one character!

a woman, of any social class, who catches allister’s eye. this is really vague but the general idea is that she’s the one who makes him realize he’s interested in both sexes, and a source of further confusion in his love life.

basically goes out to whoever ends up being the ruler/s of imber! this is their king/queen so you know, they’d be close due to al’s position. the nature of this relationship is 100% up for discussion!

so i recently got into a new SI and there's an autistic character ! it's great !! But.. a LOT of NT ppl hc her as aroace and it really irks me? like there seems to be no reasoning behind it other than the fact that she's autistic. im fine w autistic people who hc her as aroace, but when i see NTs calling her their "pure baby" and "innocent aroace who must be protected" it just makes me feel really uncomfortable

However, “being autistic” shouldn’t be a criteria for an aro/ace headcanon so I know what you mean about being uncomfortable with that kind of reasonning from allistics :/

Allister and Hop friendship.

They met each other in the Gym challenge. After Hop beat him Allister ran back into the graveyard to play /talk with his Pokémon. Hop ran after him because he had many questions about ghost pokemon. The Reaktion of the ghost pokemon was to scare hop, but he thought it was funny and knew that the pokemon won't harm him.

Allister was confused by this (because normal humans run away from his friends) and they talked.

Hop had many questions and Allister actually liked to answer them.

They and their team became fast friends and Allister won't hesitate to cures anyone who makes his first human friend sad and Hop protects Allister from pushy people.
