God alone is Almighty, not the devil.

We are told in Psalm 24:1: “The earth is the LORD’S, and all it contains, The world, and those who dwell in it.” We belong to the Lord.

Scripture also tells us the devil is the “ruler of this world” (John 12:31) and that he is the “god of this world” (2 Corinthians 4:4). The devil has no power over the children of God, but only over the “children of wrath” (Ephesians 2:3) — the ones who are not born-again Christians. He is the ruler and the god of those who opposes Christ and His kingdom.

The devil will not rule over hell. As a matter of fact, he’ll be “thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are also; and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever” (Revelation 20:10). Such a destiny isn’t only fated for the devil, but all who follow him. All who are not in Christ are His enemies. You are either with Christ or you are against Him. Remember Christ’s own words: “He who is not with Me is against Me; and he who does not gather with Me scatters” (Matthew 12:30).

There is only One whom you should fear: God. As Ecclesiastes 12:13 tells us: “The conclusion, when all has been heard, is: fear God and keep His commandments, because this applies to every person.” Worth noting this is a fear to be encouraged, for it is a reverential awe of God.

Another important point to make is that Satan not only knows Scripture inside and out but he also knows God. Beware of being a great theologian like the devil — knowing God without having a heart for Him.

Ultimately, the devil, along with all who oppose God, will kneel before the King of kings (Philippians 2:10-11).

Thursday of the Fifth Week of Lent

Gospel Jn 8:51-59

Jesus said to the Jews:

"Amen, amen, I say to you,

whoever keeps my word will never see death."

So the Jews said to him,

"Now we are sure that you are possessed.

Abraham died, as did the prophets, yet you say,

'Whoever keeps my word will never taste death.'

Are you greater than our father Abraham, who died?

Or the prophets, who died?

Who do you make yourself out to be?"

Jesus answered, "If I glorify myself, my glory is worth nothing;

but it is my Father who glorifies me,

of whom you say, 'He is our God.'

You do not know him, but I know him.

And if I should say that I do not know him,

I would be like you a liar.

But I do know him and I keep his word.

Abraham your father rejoiced to see my day;

he saw it and was glad."

So the Jews said to him,

"You are not yet fifty years old and you have seen Abraham?"

Jesus said to them, "Amen, amen, I say to you,

before Abraham came to be, I AM."

So they picked up stones to throw at him;

but Jesus hid and went out of the temple area.

Forgiveness is an absolute necessity.

Those who absolutely refuse to forgive may be showing that they are not willing to receive God's forgiveness for their much larger debt of sin. This does not apply to those who want to forgive yet are grappling with it. Even if we're not perfect, we can demonstrate willingness to obey. We can live consistently with an understanding that God has forgiven us for far more than we will ever need to forgive in others.

The Fear of the Children of Israel

Exodus 14:10-13

[10] And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the LORD.

[11]And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt?

[12]Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness.

[13]And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.

The poor Israelites were so afraid that they'd rather stay enslaved and never take a stand than for Moses to provoke the Egyptians in attempt to free them, even with God's power and all that He displayed throughout beforehand. It's so easy for us while sitting on a church pew or in the comfort of our own homes to judge the Israelites as faithless, but in moments of fear like this, we are so guilty of losing faith in God, sometimes to the point where we'd rather keep our heads down and stay in a lower state than believe He can and will deliver us. Though it is good to endure and necessary suffering, we mustn't be afraid when God leads us down a difficult path that leads to His promise!

#and I'm a total hypocrite for posting this because nobody's more afraid than me #I'm so convinced that i can only serve God by suffering through the rest of my life and smiling throughout while suffocating human emotion #it's examples like this that get us in trouble for doubting God because of said human emotion! #but that's why these notes are important. Almighty God, sebuah album baru dari sang veteran metalcore asal Bandung, Beside, telah resmi beredar pada 2 September 2022. Rilisnya album ini sekaligus menjadi penanda kembalinya vokalis lama mereka, Agung Suryana. Beside membawa kesan yang epic untuk memperkenalkan Almighty God dalam racikan yang sempurna, dimana beberapa materi pilihan dari album awalnya berhasil dikemas dalam kemewahan format akustik.

Total ada sembilan lagu yang diambil dari Against Ourselves (2007) dan Eleven Heroes (2015). Komposisi musiknya benar-benar diperhatikan secara cermat sehingga tiap petikan gitar dan pergantian dinamika riff-nya bisa membuat kalian nyaman namun masih terasa punya kegagahan dalam materi itu sendiri.

Balutan permainan instrumental orkestra, string, dan kool vokal di sekujur bagian menambahkan elemen pada Almighty God punya sisi mewah yang nyata. Pastinya ada perbedaan signifikan pada kesembilan lagu tersebut yang saat ini dituangkan dalam format akustik.

Terhitung cukup memakan waktu lama hingga dua tahun untuk merubah keseluruhan notasinya dan apa yang kalian dengar sekarang, bagaimana Almighty God bisa mewakili bahwa karya band lokal bisa segila ini.
