At first I was wondering if Manet really cut his brushstrokes in half. But then I got intrigued with how wikimedia poweruser Sailko's hi-res but cropped af photo of Manet's 1882 painting of white lilacs propagates online. Actually, what I really want to know is why doesn't the Alte Nationalgalerie make higher-res images available of all of this ravishing painting, so I can zoom in on brushstrokes, not pixels
