Some of the world's largest companies, such as Amazon and Disney, count among their suppliers a mining company that was the target of a Federal Police (PF) operation against illegal mining in the Yanomami Indigenous Land.

The Yanomami people are experiencing a humanitarian crisis due to the activities of gold miners and organized crime in their territory, located between the states of Roraima and Amazonas.

The company investigated by the PF is White Solder Metallurgy and Mining, a major global tin producer.

According to the company's website, it operates "across the entire tin production chain, from cassiterite mining to solder manufacturing." The Yanomami territory is rich in cassiterite, which yields tin.

"NEW YORK (AP) — An internal Amazon memo has provided a stark look at the company’s carefully laid out plans to grow its influence in Southern California through a plethora of efforts that include burnishing its reputation through charity work and pushing back against “labor agitation” from the Teamsters and other groups....

The memo was leaked to the nonprofit labor organization Warehouse Worker Resource Center and posted online this week. The Associated Press independently verified its authenticity.

Sheheryar Kaoosji, the executive director of Warehouse Worker Resource Center, said in a statement that the organization works directly with Amazon warehouse workers in the region who consistently talk about low pay, high injury rates and other concerns.

“These are critical issues that impact the entire Inland Empire, but specifically the 45,000 people who work for Amazon here,” Kaoosji said. But, he said, the memo details Amazon’s strategy “to paper over these valid concerns with donations, media clippings and support for policy changes that either benefit Amazon or hurt their competitors.” "

Amazon's Audible lands in Brazil

Amazon has introduced Audible, its audiobook platform, to the Brazilian market. With an extensive collection of over 100,000 audiobooks, the service has kicked off in Brazil with 4,000 titles in Portuguese, 1,500 of which were recorded in the company’s studios. With this expansion, Brazil became the 11th country worldwide to host Audible’s operations.

The initial offering includes well-known titles narrated by famous Brazilian actors. George Orwell’s  “1984” is narrated by Globo’s Otávio Muller; “Dom Casmurro,”  by telenovela legend Marcos Palmeira; “Pride and Prejudice,” by comedian Denise Fraga, among others. 

To entice potential subscribers, the service offers a one-month free trial for non-Amazon Prime members and a three-month trial for Prime subscribers. Once the trial period ends, users can subscribe for BRL 19.90 (roughly USD 3.90) per month.

Since it's been so long. i don't think it's gonna be released as wad dvd (not anymore, lol). i still call it dvd because it's easier. it can be put on a streaming platform. he didn't record the whole show during his tour but he has recordings of some shows (segments of some shows) that were used for promo. and i'm sure there is more footage than we have already seen. i think it's a good backup that could be used if other plans went to shit. did they go to shit though?

at the end of October i was told that Inter Talent was reaching out to companies trying to sell wad movie rights, basically (hello, op if you're still here). and then in November Dan told us that, "the oven has almost reached temperature" and i would assume they finally sold the rights. to what exactly? i have no idea. a one-man show? has something to do with the place and the festival we shouldn't name? BBC is involved again? if he actually performed wad show in front of some audience we would have known, i assume. so it leaves me with a theory about the "gay and not proud" format that was surely adapted to wad as much as possible. Bo Burnham: Inside (Daniel Howell edition), idk. or another theory - a mix of the footage they have (the promo one) and Dan "performing" on stage alone. no idea how they would make it look natural but they could try.

in both October and November people called the product a movie and a film. it also makes me think that there's gonna be either bts or actual acting in the final product, instead of just what we saw live. so, not the same vibe for sure.

also, since there were adjustments to the script for almost every live show he probably had to make changes for dvd as well. and also he had enough feedback to modify some jokes. this whole delay of wad dvd is a blessing and curse, honestly. he had a chance to perfect it, and i hope he did.

p.s. if he is only about to perform it in front of an audience for filming purposes, and he was selling only the movie idea to get funds, i'm gonna cry. but it would be funny.

Imagine how much love and joy Aziraphale felt that day, just thinking about it makes me feel overwhelmed.
