The series would lose Best Feature (CoS) to FFVII Advent Children, but win Best Long Series, Best DVD Packaging, Best Cast, and Best Theme Song (Rewrite). Source (1), (2), (3)
Over five years after its Japanese debut and four years after it's North American start, as Brotherhood begins airing in Japan FMA still ranks #7 for best selling anime series on DVD in North America for spring 2009!

adding on to the merch convo! while this doesn’t really count, some vendors will sell the official plushies and figures at cons. they’re usually not officially partnered with pjsk, and obviously aren’t at every con, but I’ve seen a fair share of them! you just have to know what you’re looking for.
it also depends on what the con’s market is, anime and japan-oriented cons tend to have 1-2 vendors selling pjsk merch. personally, i’ve seen miku figures and plushes (for the different sekais) as well as the nuis.
so that’s a thing to look out for if you’re a con-goer!
Yeah cons are really good for getting more obscure merch (not just prsk)!! If american comicons are anything like the english ones (aka mostly animanga stuff) then there’s a chance those might sell prsk merch too.

What if Bella was Fae and didn't know it? The parameters for this are broad, so let's just say shortly after Bella was born, Renée took a trip to Ireland and left Bella in a stroller by the woods. Bella gets switched with a changeling and Renée never finds out.
Assuming Bella makes it to Forks, how does Twilight go down? (Feel free to give Bella whatever powers you think she should have/shouldn't have.)
I mean, first off, even if we get to Twilight, things are going to be very different.
Bella Loves Forks
Forks, a rural town with relatively little iron and steel compared to large American cities, feels great for Bella who's in constant pain in places like Phoenix with her mother.
Renee really hates on Forks, and Bella wants to hate it for a long time, but good god it's like getting medication.
However, we'll say that Renee got weird on Bella liking Forks too much so Bella awkwardly stopped going because it was clear shit would go down at home if she kept going. Bella and Charlie's relationship becomes strained then non-existent because of this.
So she only ends up in Forks in 2005 but uh... very clearly jumps on the excuse to go. Oh, you're married, Renee? Well gee shucks I've got to go live in Forks now, byeeeee.
This is made awkward as Bella can't lie (even more so than in canon, she physically cannot lie) so she has to dance around the topic whenever Renee asks her why she wants to move.
Bella's in Forks Now
Bella's determined to be a normal teenager. She fucked up at her last school by being weird all the time, but now is her time to shine. She will be a normal person, with normal friends, and nobody will think she's strange!
Bella fucks this up by speaking in verse at lunch about getting drunk on wine under the full moon's light.
"FUCK" - Bella Swan
Well, she's hot enough that this doesn't matter to the guys and Jessica... stares a bit but goes with it. So Bella's a huge nerd, she can date Eric and they can go to Comicon together dressed as hobbits or whatever.
Across the lunchroom, the Cullens stare and ask for dirt on the new girl. As before, Edward finds her overrated but finds he can't read her thoughts. He concludes she's uppity and has a desperate need for attention based on her constantly talking in verse.
They get to Biology where...
Edward doesn't smell the smell. Bella's one of the fair folk now, she's not human, she's going to smell weird but not delicious. Edward gives her a very funny look and concludes, eventually, she's not like Ephraim was (as Edward also thinks the shifter line died out).
He and Bella spend the lecture giving each other the side eye. Bella's spidey senses are tingling with this one and she tries to ignore it because nothing good comes from her spidey senses, it always leads to weird.
She decides it's just because he's hot and she must like him.
Yes.
That's what normal girls do.
Bella is a normal girl.
And Then?
See, the thing is, I doubt Bella can or will drive because too much fashioned metal. Bella tells Charlie, for reasons she will not explain, that she must walk to school. Charlie at this point doesn't question this, Bella's hated cars since birth.
As a result, she does not nearly get crushed by Tylor's van and is not carted off to the hospital where Carlisle would certainly no she's not human.
So, nothing happens.
Bella and Edward sit next to each other, but he just thinks she's weird and boring. Bella, for her own part, continues to tell herself she's hopelessly in love with Edward Cullen (because look how hot he is) and that these aren't the spidey sense tingles.
Weird stuff happens, I imagine, like Bella accidentally turning things into trees, being unable to cross lines of salt, being unable to cross running water, but everyone ignores this as the Cullens don't care and everyone else is too weirded out.
Twilight never happens.

Ok, so I don't mention a lot of things about comics, especially American comics but there are two upcoming crossovers revealed at San Diego ComiCon I think are worth mentioning. The first is Justice League Vs. Godzilla Vs. Kong where the DC Universe's premier super team had to battle the King of the Monsters and Protector of Skull Island.
Tumblr media
The second has fewer details but features a meeting between three heroes each from Tsuburaya Productions and Marvel Comics: Ultraman, Ultraseven and Ultraman Taro meeting Spider-Man, Captain Marvel and Iron Man. Not much is known about this one but this promo image features classic Ultra Kaiju Bemular!

As an American person of Filipino descent young adult person based in the greater Chicago, IL area in the US, who's into the world of entertainment and popular culture, making it as a the largest American-based arts, entertainment, and popular culture brand, who's into animation (cartoons), anime, video games (mostly with Nintendo (as I'm currently playing games on the Nintendo Switch) and Minecraft (Java and Bedrock Editions), live-action, movies, and other types of media like advertising and company mascots. As the animation cast is based in the Los Angeles, CA area (the city I went to back in 2005, when I went from there to Mexico with a cruise from Royal Caribbean, and I was only 6 years old at that time), and the live-action cast in Albuquerque, NM.
Aside from The Casagrandes Movie that will be released next month on March 22nd on Netflix, and new Loud House and Casagrandes graphic novels that are coming soon this year, I'm soon going to get a Luna Loud lithograph to be signed by Nika Futterman at Planet Comicon next month from March 8-10, as I ordered from GalaxyCon, and planning to get a Lori Loud lithograph to be signed by Catherine Taber from Celebworx, and The Really Loud House Season 1 DVD.
Once I get the Luna and Lori Loud, that will be signed by Nika Futterman and Catherine Taber soon this year, I might be one of the Loud House fans that will have all the pieces of media from all of the cartoon-based voice actresses of the Loud sisters. Liliana Mumy will be the lone person, as I only have a Cameo from her. I have yet to get a Leni Loud lithograph to be signed by her. I have both Cameo videos and lithographs from Grey DeLisle, Jessica DiCicco, and soon from Nika Futterman, while I have lithographs signed by Cristina Pucelli, Lara Jill Miller, and soon from Catherine Taber.
This is my special thanks to: Cartoon Based: @catherinetaber, Liliana Mumy, Nika Futterman, Cristina Pucelli, @jessicadicicco, @greydelislegriffin, Lara Jill Miller
Live-Action: Lexi DiBenedetto, Sophia Woodward, Catherine Bradley, Aubin Bradley, Annaka Fourneret, Ella Allan, Mia Allan, Lexi Janicek, August Michael Peterson, and Emily Ford
Honest: Eva Carlton, Wolfgang Schaeffer, and Brian Stepanek
The Loud House is one of my favorite cartoons of the 2010s-2020s era cartoons, even for my favorite voice actresses and longtime voice actresses, Grey DeLisle, Jessica DiCicco, Lara Jill Miller, and Nika Futterman, these ladies have been doing animation voiceover work back when I was a kid in the 2000s watching cartoons airing on Disney Channel, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, Nicktoons, Nick Jr. (TV channel), Noggin, and PBS Kids). 1990s (I was born in 1999) for Grey DeLisle, Lara Jill Miller, and Nika Futterman.

PIC INFO: Resolution at 810x1156 -- Spotlight on a pin-up of Brandy Carter of "Liberty Meadows," cosplaying as Wonder Woman, looking like she's just about ready to burst out of her entire "costume," artwork by Frank Cho, colors by Brandon Peterson.
"Here's the San Diego Comicon print of Brandy that we did this year. Brandon Peterson did a great job of coloring it. I thought he did a nice of capturing that "Dave Stevens color palette". Only 250 prints were made, signed and numbered by me and Brandon Peterson."

Matthew Goode blond rewatch - Watchmen
Tumblr media
Concluding my Watchmen rewatch talking about Matthew Goode's beautiful acting. An unpopular casting choice, he gave, I thought, a nuanced, soulful performance in what is a film of extremes. He conveyed Adrian Veidt's moral ambiguity and mystery wonderfully.
Tumblr media
Adrian Veidt in Watchmen is supposed to be the perfect exemplar of intelligence and beauty and of course Matthew Goode fits the bill and makes it convincing. But he also manages to portray an incredibly charismatic psychopath, almost making you believe it's ok to destroy a whole city for the ultimate good of mankind. "I have made myself feel every death", chilling.
Tumblr media
Matthew Goode said he doesn't like talking about process, it's self-indulgent as an actor and he cannot really explain what goes on in his imagination. But he made an exception for Watchmen because he felt it was needed (and probably worrying about the high-maintenance fanboys' reaction).
It was challenging to play Adrian Veidt/Ozymandias, a mysterious character with no back story. Matthew gave him American and German accents to convey his public and private personas. There is a hilarious footage of Matthew explaining this at the San Diego Comicon (https://youtu.be/lu32QAnS44c). The audience is in stiches.

Meeting Cindy Williams
I am still in utter shock at the sudden passing of Cindy Williams. So I thought it might help me if I tell the story in written form of the time I met her back in 2021.
It was a typical August, well maybe not so typical for me. My mom had been through a major health challenge and I had recently quit my job due to depression and suicidal thoughts. I even spent a few days as an outpatient in a mental hospital because of it. As all of that was slowly coming behind me, my favorite (and nearest) comic con, Planet Comicon, was about to occur in Kansas City, Missouri, a few hours away from where I live.
The guest I was originally looking forward to had cancelled last minute due to COVID travel restrictions (hence why I went as Princess Leia but I’ll mention that more later). But as I looked through the guest list another name caught my eye. Cindy Williams from Laverne & Shirley. Now I had seen Laverne & Shirley once before, the episode with Carrie Fisher which ironically didn’t even have Cindy in it. While the episode hadn’t kick started me into the series back in 2016 when I watched it I remember throughly enjoying it. So I thought I’d watch this show again and see if I actually like it without Carrie Fisher to tide my attention. I tried finding episodes online to watch, which was difficult but I did anyway and eventually found Pluto TV which at the time was only showing select episodes at certain schedules.
I enjoyed the show and decided I would meet Cindy at the con. It was a lovely Saturday morning at around 10:40ish am. I went up to her table. And she was so delighted to see me. As I mentioned earlier I was dressed as Princess Leia, hair buns and all, because of the other guest. I knew so little knowledge of Cindy at the time that I had no idea she had auditioned for the role of Princess Leia. But she wasn’t offended or anything. She genuinely liked my cosplay, and was impressed that I did the hair buns using my own hair, which was pretty long at the time. I noticed she had a Laverne & Shirley face mask, and I commented that I liked it. She offered to give it to me, if it weren’t for COVID safety. This woman was so sweet. If anything I want people to take that away from this story. So sweet, so kind, so caring. She did my autograph, inscribed: “Love, Peace & Happiness to Brianna.” She signed it and asked if I wanted her to include “Shirley.” I did, even though I didn’t realize the picture I had picked out wasn’t just a generic photo of her. It was from More American Graffiti.
Anyway, next it came time to take our photo together. Now I rarely look good in pictures. But this one came out really well for the both of us. It’s been my screensaver on my phone since late 2021. We then said our goodbyes and I told her I would see her later at the professional photo op and her panel. Later at the professional photo op she remembered me, not my name but my face and outfit. And she asked me again what my name was, and I told her. That picture is nice too but the one at her table is my favorite so it is the one I always share.
Later that evening at her panel she shared many anecdotes from her life and answered questions including favorite episodes (she said “Guinea Pigs” here). And she mentioned her upcoming one woman show “Me, Myself & Shirley. From that moment on I was determined to see it, buying tickets to four different shows over the past year and a half that all got cancelled. It just wasn’t meant to be.
My biggest regret from that day was not getting to tell her how much she and Shirley and Boo Boo Kitty meant to me. But I was so new to the show then and didn’t yet know that, so I guess my biggest regret is not getting to see her show and tell her these things. My most recent plan was to go to Austin, TX in May to see her show there. But again, it wasn’t meant to be.
I’ll always remember how warm and kind Cindy was to me. May she rest in peace.

It is interesting to see Vas get up to drama because Vas even the successful ones like Tom Kenny only get up to comicon once a year
You're comparing American voice actors to Japanese seiyuus, for one thing. Voice acting is taken a LOT more seriously in Japan and with that comes a higher level of celebrity (and money, since they're not paid in dog shit crumbs like dub anime VAs)

Sunday’s TWD Special
Okay, here we go. On Sunday, they aired a TTD special. The kind of thing they usually do pre-season, and we figured it was to hype 11c. And it was. Kind of. Honestly, there wasn’t tons of TD smoking guns in it. And it was more hyped Tales of the Walking Dead, which starts next week, than it did 11c.
Tumblr media
That said, there were still a few things we raised our eyebrows over. Here they are.
So, let’s start with Gimple and his shirt. It’s very western-style, which I honestly don’t think I’ve ever seen him wear before. Meanwhile, there are two sunburst-like designs on the front of either shoulder, and he’s wearing dog tie. Hmm. Given some of the hints from the press release, and such, I can’t help but see this as a hint toward something.
@galadrieljones commented: Generally, the look is super Southwestern. The bolo tie + the flowers give off a Native American influence. So, I thought, New Mexico.
Tumblr media
Gimple also said they’d be “playing with reality” a little. He was referring to Tales, rather than 11c, but still, that caught my ear. It shows that they’ve done this in the main show as well *coughs* Leah *coughs* and that it’s something they do.
Terry Crews was a guest on the show. He was adorable. I mean, who doesn’t love Terry Crews. He told a story about how he basically fan-boyed all over Norman at Comicon, which I thought was funny. He also revealed that he’s a motorcycle guy, which I didn’t know about him. An episode of Ride for him might be inevitable at this point, lol.
Tumblr media
Some of the clues came from sneak peaks they had of the Tales episodes. In the one featuring Terry Crews, there was a “route 122.” Significant number.
In the Anthony Edwards episode, it seems he’s a research scientist. (Another scientist character; total coincidence, I’m sure. (Sarcasm.) In it, he called the dead “homo mortis” and talked about a group called Skull Hunters. No idea what all of that is leading to, but it’s very interesting.
Tumblr media
I won’t go into the entire, long discussion, but we’ve also noticed an ER tie here. In 11b, they talked about having to do a medical scene at Zeke’s animal hospital. They removed someone’s appendix, iirc. And by happy accident, the woman directing that episode was an actor for years on the show, ER. She played a nurse. Now, they will have Anthony Edwards (also a long-time actor on ER) do an episode of Tales. Just some tie in which they can pull in actors from that show because people in the industry know one another. Not anything to side-eye on it’s own.
But then we realized Anthony Edwards shares a last name with Steven Edwards of Grady. Yes, yes. I know that’s most likely a coincidence, as no one can control what the actor’s last name is. But go with me on this a little farther.
In ER, Anthony Edwards’ character was named Dr. Green. Same name as Beth, just spelled without the final e. And over the years, we’ve seen lots of references specifically to the Emergency Room setting:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I would even throw in that Bob was a trauma medic. That’s very similar to what’s done in the ER: basically trauma triage until others like surgeons and specialists can come in and do the repair.
So anyway. I’m not saying they’ve been aiming to have Anthony Edwards on the show and that’s why the ER symbolism. I suppose it’s possible they’ve had him contracted for a long time, but not likely.
I do, however, think it’s VERY likely that the ER symbolism is intentional because of some future, Beth storyline. And it suddenly occurred to Gimple that getting Anthony Edwards, who played Dr. Green for like 10 years, to be on the show would be perfect for the symbolism, so they specifically asked him.
I made this joke to my fellow theorists as well, but they’re using him for his symbolism. Lol.
Anyway, we could be reaching with that, but it’s definitely interesting to consider. If it’s a total coincidence, I gotta say, that’s one hell of a coincidence. (Actually, it’s like 10 of them in a row.) Moving on...
Samantha Morton will also be in one that’s pretty much Alpha before the turn. She’s on a river boat. Think about that. River. Boat. So again, just interesting symbolism that we’re already seeing in the short clips of these episodes. I think Tales is gonna bring us all kinds of symbolic goodness.
Tumblr media
Of course, the best part was when Gimple talked about the spinoffs. He talked a little about the Richonne spinoff. Didn’t give us more than we already knew. Although, he did mention the Red Machete. He said we’ll see a little bit of the older, more brutal versions of Rick and Michonne, including “Red Machete Rick.”
Now, I don’t think the red machete will necessarily be part of the Richonne spinoff. (Though it would be interesting if they used it to in some way reveal who Legs is.) I think it’s more likely that Gimple went out of his way to mention the red machete as a hint.
As @wdway commented:
When Scott describes the Epic Love Story, yes, he's talking about Rick and Michonne but don't you feel like he's also talking about Daryl and Beth.  Being separated for so long and being different people. The other thing is that mention of the red machete, I mean seriously that red machetes been gone from Rick since s7(?) for years. It was last seen being picked up by what looked like a female.
She also made a good point about how they originally tried to sell the Daryl/Carol spinoff:
@wdway:
Remember at the beginning when Daryl and Carol spinoff was first announced and they indicated it would be more light-hearted and even humorous I think what we see with Tales wil give us a glimpse of what they meant by humor it's dark humor, sarcasm that type of thing.
Great points!
Then, Gimple addressed the Daryl spinoff. He confirmed what we already knew about it taking place in France. Then Chris asked if we had a hint toward that story line in the coda of TWD. (The part where two people spoke French and then the woman turned into a super-walker.) And Gimple said (and I paraphrase) “Yes, exactly.”
Tumblr media
So let’s unpack that a little. First, it always gives us a thrill when they refer to an after-the-credits scene as a “coda.” It shows that the coda symbolism (including the title Beth’s “death” episode) is alive and well. I’ve said this before, but I honestly don’t think tptb starting using that word for them until after TD did. Back in S5, when we had some Morgan codas in 5x01 and 5x08, they simple called them after-the-credits scenes. Sure, maybe they called them codas and I just missed it. After all, 5x08 hadn’t aired yet so our brains weren’t attuned to that word. But it seems like ever since TD started using that term for these scenes, suddenly Gimple and Kang do it all the time now.
Just makes me happy.
He also confirmed the tie between that France coda and the Daryl spinoff. In other words, when Daryl goes to France for whatever reason, he’s going to come into contact with both the CRM and these super walkers. Which does suggest that he’ll probably come into contact with Beth and/or Rick in some way.
I know I’m preaching to the choir here, but think about it this way. We’ve been saying forever (because symbolism) that Beth is with the CRM. Ever since getting the details about the spinoff, we’ve highly suspected the spinoff might be the story of Daryl discovering Beth is alive. Now, a tie between the spinoff and the CRM has been confirmed, and there’s that interview where Norman says Daryl will come into contact with “missing” characters. Hmmm. Amazing how on-track TD can be at times, isn’t it?
Tumblr media
On a last note, @wdway went and read the messages/questions sent to by the fans. If you watch TTD, you know they always answer at least one fan question on the show. Of course they get hundreds, if not thousands of them, sent in every week, and just pick one. @wdway informs me that the Carylers flooded them with questions about guess-what-topic.  🙄 It’s just worth noting that all such questions (which to be fair have already been answered many times by tptb) were completely ignored.
So yeah. As I said, no massive smoking guns, as it was mostly focused on Tales, but I still enjoyed it and am very much looking forward to Tales starting next week. Anyone see anything I missed?

Sneky Snake
Tumblr media
Ku: I seem to be fighting some sort of soldier. Sending a visual, footage and analysis.
Toffee: Mmmmh... I can detect nanomachines in his bloodstream, but that's all there is. Wizard, what does the database have to say? Surely, there's something about a super soldier in there.
Wizard: Solid Snake, a soldier who's part of the secret services.
Ku: Oh great, just what we needed.
Wizard: Hold on, Ku, the file says more... uh? Someone's else hacking into our comms-
???: Ah-ah! Not so smug now that your system's been hacked, uh!?
Ku: What-
Toffee: Wizard, who is this!?
Wizard: Uh... one of Snake's mission controls, I believe. His codename is a bit weird... Comicon, I think?
???: It's Otacon!
Wizard: Not much better.
Otacon: I'm not hearing it from the guy who legally got his name changed to Wizard!
Wizard: Hey! There was nothing legal about my name change!
Otacon: That's what you're bragging about!?
Toffee: Great, this is C.J. and his mech all over again... what, were you and Snake sent by the government too?
Otacon: Actually, neither of us work really work for the American government anymore.
Ku: Really?
Otacon: Yeah. If anything, you and Snake's beliefs align more than they clash, and... why am I telling you all this!? You're the enemy!
Wizard: Don't worry about it. I accidently told Snake about Ku too, back then.
Otacon: Really?
Wizard: No~
Ku: Uh, Wiz? Could you stop messing with this guy and tell me more on this Snake guy? He keeps throwing explosives in my face and I'd like some help.
Wizard: Oh sure, sorry about that. You should-
Otacon: Oh no, you don't!
*call cuts off*
Ku: Wiz? Wiz, come in!... the line got cut off.
Toffee: He should be fine, just a hacker battle gone out of control.
Ku: Tell me when he's back on.
