Chapters: 18/18 Fandom: The Hobbit (Jackson Movies) Rating: Mature Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: Fíli/Ori, Bofur/Thorin Oakenshield Characters: Fíli, Ori (Tolkien), Nori (Tolkien), Dori, Kíli, Thorin Oakenshield, Dís, Dwalin, Arni--OC, Bofur, Bifur, Bombur, Thráin II Additional Tags: Alternate Universe - Canon Divergence, Alternate Universe - Role Reversal, Role Reversal, your sex is a matter of politics, Royalty, Alternate Universe - Erebor Never Fell, excessive excuses to put precious gems in dwarf's hair, Slow Burn, Canon-Typical Violence Summary:
There were amethysts in Ori’s hair the day Thorin returned to Erebor.
Rumors swirled around the court for weeks in advance, Ori sitting beside the throne, parchment on his lap and ink on his fingers. Countless days his father moaned, holding Ori’s hands like they were a betrayal of the very throne the king sat on, scolding him for acting like a common scribe.
(Ori is crown prince of Erebor. Fili... is not)
Y’all it took me nine years, give or take 4 days to finish this story. (Which is a great example of why you should never say die in fandom lol you never know which story will randomly come back from the grave and get its proper ending). If thou art so inclined you should definitely go give it some love though.

The Hobbit x baby elf reader (both male and female versions.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Age: newborn after the eagles saved them from Azog the Company meets one of the greatest treasures in Middle Earth who happens to be the prince/princess of a rare species of elves.
These are fanfics from my old wattpad account I had trouble with the verification process it won’t let me comment, post or reply so I had to delete it but I managed to start a new with tumblr I saved my fanfics from my old wattpad on the notes app.
Male version:
No one's POV:
The company of Thorin Oakenshield had continued their Journey to Erebor after Thorin had recovered from his injuries. As they are in an open field they are shocked to find what appeared to be a battle field, dead orcs, wargs and elves with normal and unusual hair colors. From the looks of it there were no survivors that is to the eyes of men.
They began picking up the bodies to bury the elves so they can be put to rest but doing so the sound of crying is heard, Bilbo walks over to the dead couple a she elf with silver hair and a fair complexion, holding her protectively was a male elf he assumes is her husband with midnight blue hair and a tan complexion. the crying seems to be coming from them, when he got closer he saw something moving through the she elf's arms "Ohh my." He said gently moving her arms to reveal a bundle of white blanket.
Bilbo managed to remove the bundle from the corpse but when he did so the crying got louder. He moved the blanket reveling to his, the dwarves and Gandalf's surprise a baby elf! A male elf to be precise he looked just like the male they assume was his father but his hair faded to pastel blue at the tips. When Bilbo held him the little boy opened his eyes to reveal that he had two different eye colors, one eye was the color of starlight while the other was the color of amethyst. Thorin was enhanced by those eyes that held so much innocence and curiosity within them. He was a sucker for children and he had heard that elves couldn't reproduce very often like dwarves and that they are very protective of their young like dwarves "By my beard! Your a pretty thing aren't you little one?." Gandalf asked picking up the child who was looking around in curiosity "We should take him with us." Thorin said "Even thought he's an elf he's just a child who just lost he's family." Dwalin said placing a hand on the elflings head earning a squeal from him "What's that on his wee neck?" Ori asked. Gandalf saw a gorgeous silver crescent moon necklace with a sapphire around the boys neck and gasped "A pendant of power. You are the prince of the moonlight elves my boy." Gandalf said holding the boy protectively making the dwarves gasp "I thought they disappeared centuries ago after the war in the first age." Balin said eyeing the necklace around the child's neck "The boy is more special then I thought." Dori said "I think the boy has a name though. Look at his blanket." Oin said pointing to the blanket. Thorin took the corner of the blanket to see a name Y/N engraved in F/C threading "Y/N I like it." Bilbo said smiling fondly at the elfling.
Tumblr media
Not wanting to waist anymore time the company continue their journey to Erebor with their newest addition in Gandalf's arms. The boy was a true angel, he slept the whole night, he was only fussy if he was hungry, needed a change or a nap but he seems to have a severe trauma with orcs after they killed his parents and the guards with them when they saw Orcs on the cliff side.
After they arrived at Beorn's home Y/N seemed to be fond of the skin changer dual to his size "Hello little fawn." Beorn said gently holding Y/N who was squealing from the butterfly on his little nose "Your very energetic Y/N." Beorn said letting out a deep chuckle. The company arrived to Mirkwood in order to get to Erebor but they had to stay on the path. Fili, Kili and Ori were watching Y/N with Fili holding him while the two brothers and youngest dwarf made you laugh.
All was peaceful until the spiders attacked.
Thorin held you protectively after Bilbo cut them all free but Bilbo was no where in sight anymore like he just disappeared and all Morgoth fell lose when the woodland elves came and killed the rest of the spiders and take them in for questioning "My prince they have a child!" one of the elves said taking you from Thorin "What are you doing with a child filth?" The blond asked taking you into his arms! When he did he removed the blanket to see to his surprise that your an elfling "DID YOU KIDNAPPED THIS CHILD?" He shouted to the dwarves upsetting you "Legolas please." A she elf with red hair said "I'm sorry little one." Legolas said gently cradling you thus calming you down "We shall move out." Legolas said carrying you "You have beautiful eyes little one." Legolas said "Look at his hair." A black haired elf said pointing to your midnight blue fading to pastel blue hair making Legolas look at it as well "So unusual." He said running his fingers through your hair while you just poked his cheek in curiosity like the innocent little bean you are "HE'S SO CUTE." A she elf gushed at you making you giggle at the attention you where receiving earning chuckles from the adult elves.
When you reached Mirkwood palace
you received more attention although you didn't like to many eyes on you so you whimpered "What's wrong little one?" Legolas asked hearing and seeing your discomfort "Oh it's ok little brother." He said with a smile 'I hope Ada will be gentle with him.' Legolas thinks to himself walking to the throne room after his father finished interrogating Thorin Oakenshield. Legolas stops in front of massive double doors with two guards blocking them, upon seeing him the guards bowed and opened the door for him. Once he was inside the Throne room Legolas sees his father. King Thranduil sitting on his throne with his signature bored expression until he saw you in his sons arms "That child." Thranduil said in awe getting up from his throne and slowly walking towards you and Legolas. He gently placed his hand on your head making you giggle from how big his hand is compared to your little head earning a small smile from the king as he gently took you from the prince "Where did you come from little one." He asked looking into your starlight silver and amethyst purple eyes until his eyes landed on your necklace "You are of the moonlight elves." He said holding it in his palm as you cooed at him until a growl came from your stomach making you whimper once again "Ohh don't cry little brother." Legolas said while a maid came in with a glass bottle of elks Milk in hand.
Thranduil takes the bottle and begins feeding you then burps you.
With your stomach full you fell asleep in the kings warm arms making him smile warmly at how tiny you are in his arms "Good night little star." He said gently kissing your head as he watches you close your eyes with a little squeak.
The next morning Bilbo managed to free the dwarves and grab you without the elves seeing him with help from his lucky (cursed) ring of course.
Long story short in Laketown Bard and his children love you, When Smaug attacked Sigrid held you the whole time, during the battle of the Five Armies you stayed with the Bardlings, after the battle everyone survives and makes peace, Thranduil adopts you as his new son after Legolas heads out to find Strider, Thorin and Thranduil mended the alliance between Elves and dwarves and as for you. You became the new prince of Mirkwood after Thranduil adopted you and everyone is wrapped around you chubby little finger.
Female Version.

My sister's concept sketches for my Steven Universe Lord of The Rings AU
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(ALL ART DONE BY MY SISTER, REBLOG BUT DO NOT REPOST)
There are two Connies, because Connie at the beginning when she first leaves the Shire-equivalent is quite a different Connie than the knight of Rohan she is by the end.
Pearl's look is inspired primarily by elves, while Amethyst's is more dwarf-inspired (there's actually no elves or dwarves in this AU, just humans and Gems, but I'm drawing inspiration from them). Amethyst also has her hair in a ponytail, because I love ponytail! Amethyst.
Sapphire is a wizard (and has two eyes in this AU, but only one good eye), and Ruby is her knight. Garnet is both a wizard and knight.
Lapis Lazuli's look is a little pirate-inspired (she was a sea merchant before joining the fellowship of the gems), and the hood is primarily for the vibes.
Rose was of course, a great lady and a great warrior, but I don't think her role or design has changed so much that it needs explanation.
There's no Steven, Greg or Peridot art yet, but they both have significant roles in this AU, too.
Edit: This AU now has a sideblog: @stevenoftherings

Hello guys!
My name is Minnie and I’ve been thinking about starting a LOTR/The Hobbit blog for a while and so I did!
I write pretty much anything. Take note that I’ll write angst only if it ends positively!
I also take requests of course! You can send any in through my ask box! I’ll gladly write them!
I already wrote two imagines which I’ll put the links to at the end of this post if you’re interested to check them out.
I write for everyone honestly. I of course have preferences on who to write for (notably a certain dwarf named Kíli… hihi :3) but I still write for every character.
So send in your requests!!

thank you for the tag, @welcomingdisaster! here's an extract from a wip in which celebrimbor looks back on his youth.
That day, my mother had left the keep with a small group for a ptarmingan hunt - those fat little birds dwelt in great numbers in the thick grasses that carpeted the plains - while my father and uncle hosted a handful of the Nandor who usually dwelt towards the south of the steppe; and I was left alone to focus on some gem-cutting. Being as my mother was a highly competent horsewoman, and had her guards about her, we were none of us at all concerned for her wellbeing outside of the fortress, and were all content to remain focussed on our own pursuits within. In fact, I had just finished the final polish on a rather beautiful dwarf-traded amethyst when I felt my mother's acute pained distress slam into my ósanwe. How can I describe what I felt then? I suppose the closest comparison would be this. Once when I was very small, my uncle took me to the stables during wintertime because I had developed a short-lived fascination with horses. When he turned his back in order to dole out sacks of feed, I decided to "help" by breaking the ice that covered the water troughs with a large rake. Being only a young child, I had little understanding of basic physics like balance and mass, and it was a horrible shock when I pitched forward and fell straight into the frigid water. That feeling - my limbs locked up, my whole body ice-cold - slammed into me with the force of a siege weapon, right there in my workshop, and my entire self was flooded with dread. I dropped the jewel and raced for the door. My father scarcely had to time to blink in surprise when I burst into the council chambers, and I barrelled over his and uncle's apologies to our guests with a wail - "something's happened to mother!" Things moved very quickly then. My father ordered his and uncle's shields and longswords brought to us immediately, along with my own best hunting bow; the fastest horses saddled and a guard of around thirty soldiers assembled to accompany us. My uncle fetched one of mother's scarves for Huan to get a good dose of her scent, and within the half-hour we were setting out for a rescue.
once again no idea of who's been tagged... @theghostinthemargins, @that-angry-noldo, @warrioreowynofrohan, @jouissants, @meadowlarkx, @undercat-overdog?

Bracket C Round 1
Poll 13
Angharad Brosca (@rlainarin) vs. Arya Velorë (@panek-at-the-disco)
153. Angharad Brosca (@rlainarin)
He/Him
tldr: he's gay ginger dwarf Jesus
5'0 twunk with long curly auburn hair, a short beard, and big dark brown doe eyes
Tumblr media
154. Arya Velorë (@panek-at-the-disco)
she/her
Arya should win because she is a very kind and caring alchemist who is starting to learn magic from one of her friends. She was originally a human from a city that was stuck in a time-loop repeating the same day for nearly three years before escaping to try and find someone to help. When she returned to help free her home, her soul was split and half of her was sent back in time to become one of the reoccurring minor antagonists while the other half remained in the present and placed herself into her new clockwork body so she is strong enough that she won't be hurt like that again. Everyone who loves cute blorbos with ~trauma~ who will do anything for her friends (including betraying them) will love her <3
She has a clockwork body made out of brass and ivory with the cylinder of a music box in the center of her body. She has long red hair and purple and green eyes. Her clothes are technically part of her body, but she wears a long cloak with fluff lining the end of it and several pockets sewn into the inside of it. In combat she carries a clockwork staff made of a music box cylinder, a small pair of wings, and an amethyst to power it.

The plan was to be back before nightfall. And Impulse liked to stick to his plans. The universe, however, rarely complied to his plans, no matter now well-laid and thought out they were. And so now Impulse was trudging through the quickly darkening Sahara with no bed (he’d intended to be back before night, after all), a broken elytra (he’d forgotten to fix it), and a dead communicator (never let Zed “have a look” at anything you love or need).
“Of course this was the week Tango had to shut down all the nether portals. Of course! Couldn’t he have waited one more week so I could get the terracotta I needed! But no…” Impulse muttered bitterly, hiking his bag further up on his back. He was still thousands of blocks away from home, and had no way back other then to walk. “Stupid… it’s all stupid.”
He decided to climb a tree for the night. Sure, dwarves weren’t particularly known for their compatibility with trees, but the idea of being in a two by one dirt hole all night was just downright depressing. At least if there were mobs he could shoot them with a bow and hopefully not die and lose all of the terracotta. So, with the light almost gone from the sky and the all-too familiar sound of monster groans, Impulse made his way awkwardly up the jagged branches of a nearby acacia tree.
It didn’t take elven eyes, however, to see that there was something out here in the far-off wilderness. With the little light he had left at his disposal, Impulse could see an enormous stone structure built into the side of a mountain. It was a bit of a walk to get to it, but there were lights illuminating the structure, which was a lot more inviting then the tree tops.
Impulse decided to run for it, eyes fixed on the lights and nothing else. He could hear the ever-expanding collection of mobs gathering to chase him, and he hoped beyond hope that the door wasn’t locked.
The building- the closest thing Impulse could liken it to was a palace- was even more jaw-dropping close up. Even Impulse, who was running for his life, could appreciate that. It was huge, neck-craningly so. The doors alone were probably fifteen Impulses high. Not to mention the whole thing was intricately carved, work which probably had taken decades to complete.
“Please, please, please!” Impulse whispered, pounding up the stairs and finally reaching the giant double doors. There was no knobs, but there was a small crack between the two doors. Impulse wedged his axe blade between them and pulled back, hard, grunting, while the mob noises got louder and louder. There was a painful sounding grinding, and the door opened just enough for Impulse to squeeze through. There was a leather strap on the other side, which he pulled with all his strength. The door ground closed, and abruptly, there was silence. Not even mob sounds from the door. Just abrupt silence.
Impulse bent forward, hands on his knees, wheezing hard. He put his battle axe back in its holder on his belt, easily accessible but out of the way for the moment. After a few minutes of recovery, he began to take in his surroundings.
Now, as a dwarf, Impulse was used to stone halls and beautiful precious metals adorning the walls. As a hermit, he was used to the outlandish and decadent nature of some builds. But this, this was in a class beyond all of that, all he knew. The hall he found himself in was just as tall as the front doors- taller, probably. It was a huge room with soaring ceilings, carved from the stone of the mountain, but so much more. There was moss everywhere. At first glance, it could have been gardens brought from the outside, but no, this was all man-made. Every block of moss was deliberately placed. There were bushes and trees, but they shone in a way that trees didn’t, because every branch was adorned with refined jewels. Diamonds, emeralds, amethysts, even gold. Candles illuminated everything, casting strange shadows in odd places. There was a big golden throne against the wall, facing him, caked in moss. And right in the middle was a long shining checker-board floor; must be a ballroom. The room broke off into several long hallways, Impulse could see them careening off into the distance as he stepped further in.
The feelings of this place were ones like which Impulse had never experienced before. The candles were lit, so someone must be home. Right? But it felt so empty, like Impulse was at a party with silent watchers as the other guests. But there was no one, and no sound except his boots snapping against the floor.
He would call out, ask if anyone was here, but his voice felt almost stolen. He didn’t want to hear how it would bounce in this room; his imagination wondered if his voice would be saying something else back to him in echo.
He hesitated, now standing at the golden edges of the dance floor. Something deeply innate in him told him he needed to go stand in the middle of the floor. It was all so strange, like a call to a final scene. Impulse took out his battle axe just in case, admired the shine it had in the candlelight, and stepped onto the floor. He walked quickly until he was directly in the center. Still nothing. He turned on his heel slowly, taking in the room as it was probably made to be seen. Everything glowed dully back at him, neither ancient nor new.
“You are quite a ways from home, Impulsesv.”
Impulse spun back around, and there was someone lounging on the throne now, watching him. They was draped in green robes, almost like Scar’s elven ones but fuzzier. They had big eyes and a crown that threatened to droop over one eye. They stood and slowly walked towards Impulse.
Impulse cocked his head as the person approached. “Bdubs?” The word died in his throat, because it didn’t look… exactly like Bdubs. The man had darker skin then Impulse, and the same hair and affinity for moss (for it was moss on the dragging robes he wore). But the big eyes were a loud golden color, and the smile he wore was more of a smirk. There wasn’t that goofiness that Bdubs usually kept firmly all around him.
“Not… exactly.” The man Impulse knew as Bdubs said, now uncomfortably close to him. “I am the master of ceremony, the guardian of the tree of whimsey, the puzzle master, the moss king, the banisher of night. And, in these halls, I am the mountain king.” Bdubs raised his arms to the room. “So.” He continued, looking right in Impulse’s eyes. “What brings you to me, Impulsesv?”
“Uh, well, I was actually escaping the night myself. Mobs, you know?” Impulse chuckled nervously. “I didn’t know you were here, and I’m so, so sorry for intruding… I’ll just go.” Impulse took a step backwards, but Bdubs stepped with him.
“Dance with me. You are my guest, after all.” Bdubs said, holding up his hands. After a pause, Impulse stepped into the embrace, took the man’s hand, and they began a slow dance around the floor. There was no music. “Impulsesv. I know of you.”
“I- do you? I mean, I’m just some guy, really. A redstone innovator, if you wanna get technical about it.” Impulse tried to joke, but his voice shook a little. This was weird, this whole thing was weird. Like, boatem and moon big weird. Bdubs’, or this not-Bdubs guy’s eyes were so haunting. Almost blank, like staring right into a vat of molten gold. And he was smiling, almost too big for his face.
“No, no, Impulse, I’m talking about the man under this dwarven costume.” Bdubs nodded at him. “The demon.” For a second, Bdubs’ eyes flashed red. Impulse tried to step backwards, but Bdubs held him tight. They kept dancing.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Impulse said firmly. There was fear racing through his body, but also a deep, inherent need to keep up with the moss man. He took the lead, looking right into those eyes he did not want to see turn red again, daring the thing that was his friend to take back control.
“Oh, don’t you?” Bdubs chuckled. “Big boy like yourself, practically bursting with dark power? Oh, I’m sure you know nothing of that.”
He didn’t. That was the whole thing, this whole back and fourth and power struggle. He wasn’t a demon. This being that was holding him in dance was calling him something he wasn’t. But why would Bdubs lie? A golden-eyed man wouldn’t be interested in just some human man, would he? Impulse’s breaths were not coming as easily now. The lights swam before him, candy-colored blurs. Bdubs had to be wrong, right? There was no way-
“I have to go.” Impulse blurted out and pulled away from the moss man’s embrace. He had a feeling that he couldn’t place an origin to that staying in dance with the mountain king would be like a parasitic vine on a tree, killing it slowly from the inside. “Listen, great place you have here, and thanks for the dance, but I gotta go. Now.”
Impulse walked to the front doors without looking back, and they opened after a second of tugging. Bdubs didn’t follow him. It was morning out, thank goodness, and Impulse descended the steps quickly. He kept waking until he knew he was out of sight of the mountain, and then he broke out into a sprint. Ran away from the golden and red eyes, the confusing knowing smile. The word “demon” ran through his head like an alarm bell. He pushed it away, knowing it was just a lie. A weird, super specific lie to tell.
Impulse paused by a lake, kneeled down to look at his own reflection. A troubled dwarf stared back at him. But under that he was just a man. Had only ever been just a man. But Bdubs had sounded so eerily confident in his words... Impulse decided that perhaps it was time to ask a few questions. Maybe even go to the Hermitcraft library, see if there was anything hidden in there. Anything to ease the quell of anxiety and wrongness that had permeated Impulse’s mind like fog.

Discover Thrones of Decay: New Lords, Units, and Features for Total War: WARHAMMER III
Tumblr media
Thrones of Decay is the latest game DLC pack for Total War: WARHAMMER III on Linux, Mac, and Windows PC. Thanks to CREATIVE ASSEMBLY and Feral Interactive for their incredible work. Due to make its way onto Steam. Big news for Total War: WARHAMMER III fans. SEGA Europe Limited and The Creative Assembly Limited just announced the latest DLC pack, Thrones of Decay, due to release on April 30th. It also adds a ton of fresh content for the Empire, Nurgle, and Dwarfs. Think legendary lords, battle units, campaign features – it's a fully packed game update. And Feral Interactive also continues to keep up with Linux ports.
Elspeth
Let's start with Elspeth Von Draken from the Empire in Thrones of Decay. She’s a powerhouse Amethyst Wizard, teetering on the brink of life and death. What's special is that she brings some unique campaign features. For instance, the Imperial Gunnery School in Wissenland & Nuln lets you upgrade units and get powerful abilities in exchange for Schematics you earn in battle. Then there's the Gardens of Morr, these are fast-travel points across Empire settlements, but they also come with a cost and cool down. In battle, Elspeth is a force to be reckoned with. She rides a Carmine Dragon and uses her magical skills to control the battlefield before diving into the fray. The Empire also gets a boost with new units like the Marienburg Landship, Steam Tank Volley Gun, and more. Theodore Bruckner, as a Legendary Hero, is particularly impressive.

Tamurkhan
Now, onto Nurgle’s champion, Tamurkhan, the Maggot Lord. A sentient maggot in a rotting Ogre Tyrant's corpse – that’s Tamurkhan. His goal? Spread death and disease everywhere. His campaign features include Tamurkhan’s Chieftains, where he gathers a warhost while dominating and recruiting warlords. In battle, he's also a juggernaut, riding a Toad Dragon and wielding a two-headed axe. His ability, Feast of the Maggot Lord, deals damage to enemies even as he’s down, keeping him in action longer. In Thrones of Decay, Nurgle's forces get support with new units like Plague Ogres, Rot Knights, and Toad Dragons.
Malakai
For the Dwarfs, we have Malakai Makaisson, the Slayer Engineer. He's a mix of smarts and strength, looking for redemption through a valiant death. He brings things like the Spirit of Grungi, an upgradable airborne machine that also increases his combat skills. Malakai's Adventures let him test and improve his engineering inventions in dangerous battles. His battle style? A perfect mix of range and close combat, due to use everything from explosives to shotguns and even a huge spanner. Dwarf ranks are enhanced with new units like the Daemonslayer, Dragonslayer, and Doomseekers. And let’s not forget the Slayer Pirates – they sound like a blast! Thrones of Decay also comes with Patch 5.0, adding free content, quality of life upgrades, and bug fixes. So expect a new Legendary Lord, a Hero unit, the Nemesis Crown campaign feature, and campaign reworks for the Empire, Dwarfs, and Nurgle. This DLC can be purchased as a pack or individually, which is great for flexibility. Total War: WARHAMMER III is shaping up to be a solid update and I look forward to diving into new features and units. Stay tuned for more updates, and let's get ready to experience this epic expansion. Be sure to Wishlist each including Elspeth on Steam, Malakai on Steam, and Tamurkhan on Steam. Coming to Linux, Mac, and Windows PC on April 30th.

Surnames for bastards
I am a DnD player and soon I will be running my first DnD campaign as a Dungeon Master. While creating my world, I thought of a few things that I would like to write here as well, because I feel stupid to create an account on this site and not at least put something here. I don't care if anyone reads this, but if someone happens to find this and find it interesting, you can use it however you want. I have based this system from the Game of Thrones series. However, I expanded it for the needs of my world and story, and it seems interesting enough to put it here. Surnames are divided into two groups - for nobility and for common people.
1) If a parent publicly confesses to his illegitimate child:
Nobility
a) The descendant receives a surname based on the sign on the family coat of arms. (for example Edmund Sword, Cassandra Sunset,…).
b) A descendant can also be given a surname based on an important place for the given family, ancestral home, ancestral treasure or weapon. (Nicholas Whitecliff, Magdalene Grasscutter,…)
c) After legitimization, this surname is lost and it is given the family surname.
Note - If the offspring is raised by a nobleman in the family castle, the family coat of arms that the offspring will receive will be reversed in color to avoid confusion. (House of Lear, based in the Western Provinces, has a black cloud with three golden lightning bolts on a blue field as his family crest. A step-descendant, Richard Thundercloud, will have a white cloud with three purple lightning bolts on an orange field as his family crest.)
Common people
a) The offspring is named after the parent's profession (Jack Guard, Otto Blacksmith,…)
b) An offspring can be given a surname based on its external or internal characteristics, but this variant is used for older children and only very rarely for newborns. (Hugo Stump, Lea Amethyst, Peter Rat,…)
2) If the parent does not confess to his illegitimate child, or the parent is unknown:
a) Surnames apply here according to the province where the child was born. In Eamos, the human kingdom, there are five provinces: Northern (Nord), Southern (Sud), Eastern (East), Western (West), and Island (Igland). (Damian Nord, Gabriel Igland,…) This rule applies to both social groups of the Eamos population.
b) If the child is mixed with a dwarf, elf, halfling, the child receives the surname Foreyne (William Foreyne,…)
c) If a child is born as a Tiefling, they will be given the surname Fallen. (Kayra Fallen,…).However, there are very few of these children in Eamos, because many parents discard these children and leave them to their fate after birth.
I hope that I have helped someone with these ideas when creating their own character or DnD/Fantasy world
(P.S. I apologize for my English, but I'm not a native speaker and it's much easier for me to speak than to write.)

When I was but a little child I had found in my other bother's collection a books a story.
Tumblr media
Tales of Deltora is written by an Australian who's pen name for children's novels is Emily Rodda. This seems like a weird thing to point out, but this collection of stories with monsters and dangers around every corner, seemingly innocent locals hold untold horrors, and, yea, I can see how an Australian wrote this book.
It's written as a collection of fairy tales that are read to the children but in reality, reading these stories in a certain order reveal the true history of the land of Deltora, How the Shadow Lord came to be, and how he was pushed back into the Shadowlands by the first King of Deltora.
And then I found out 10 years later that this is a companion book to a book series called Deltora Quest.
Tumblr media
This series starts with the King of Deltora realizing his advisor works for the evil Shadow Lord and the only way to live was to run away. King and Queen run off and give their child to the Blacksmith, his only childhood friend.
16 years later, Lief heads out from home after being given a birthday present (a belt). He is meant to go off on a journey, guarded by Barda, someone who is a renegade castle soldier from the time of the last king. They are meant to head around to the seven territories of Deltora to collect the 7 gems. Only united will these gems of the land be enough to get rid of the Shadow Lord.
Each book focuses on collecitng one of the 7 gems, A topaz, ruby, opal, lapis lazuli, emerald, amethyst, diamond, with the final book being the confrontation against the Shadow Lord. The monsters are great, I loved the puzzles. They find a teen girl, exactly Lief's age, called Jasmine, left in the woods and she lived amongst the forest. Who could the lost child of the king and queen be?
It's Lief, King and Queen switched places with Blacksmith and wife who ran away into the woods, Blacksmith taken to the Shadowlands as s slave but broke out and lead the main resistance. This felt like a familiar fairy tale story but with new and creepy monsters. Not scary but just...a little unnerving.
Tumblr media
And in the 2nd series, they go underground!!
Shadowlands drama is brewing, and Lief and the gang need to stop it now that he is appointed king. He feels a duty to do it. And after reading a story which you can also find in the Tales of Deltora book he realizes there is a backdoor to the Shadowlands, and a mysterious object that can stop his control, called the Pirran Pipe. Three troll/dwarf species each have a piece of this pipe, and Lief as King needs to befriend them all to collect the pipe and rid Deltora of the Shadow Lord.
I could talk more about this series but, it's just more the same. If you love the creepy factor of the first series, you'll enjoy the 2nd and 3rd.
Third Series?
Tumblr media
Even with the Shadow Lord gone, he has a backup plan. and a backup for the backup. Plans within plans. Famine and Raids are happening more and more often across the country and Lief, once again, decides to deal with the issues himself, as any good leader should.
Heading to the East, North, West, and back South to the capital, he defeats the blights dubbed The Four Sisters.
In Tales of Deltora, there's a story about four singing sisters spread across the four corners of an island, and once a dark wizard came along who hated music and killed them. Once the final voice stopped a giant beast sprouted up from the center of the isle and destroyed it.
In a bit of plagiarism, the Shadow Lord took this story and inverted it, making the Four Blights slowly spread devastation across the land, and if stopped, then a giant ooze would come up from the center and swallow the land. The ooze could only be stopped by the dragons, and thankfully Lief is diplomatic and befriended all of them. My favorite being the Lapis Lazuli one, Fortuna. Kind and caring, seeing all the people in her territory as her children and wanting to protect them, but also being a shit disturber to Honoura, the emerald dragon.
Tumblr media
Deltora book of Monster is simply that, an art book written by a person in universe to log the dangerous flora and fauna of the Land.
Secrets is written by someone also in universe who is trying to protect the knowledge that dragons are still alive. In the 3rd series it's said that the Shadow Lord made a monster race called Ak Baba, basically evil dragons, to kill the good dragons, so the good dragons didn't kill the four sisters or the ooze. also propaganda, :your hope has flew away with your dragons, surrender or perish."
Then, they rereleased Tales with 3 new short stories, which directly tie the Deltora books with another series Rodda wrote, The Three Doors trilogy. It deserves another post but he's an edge emo prince who was 2nd in line so he learned magic to try and rule by force then left to take Deltora when that failed.
Tumblr media
Star of Deltora follows Britta, of the port city of Del, wanting to win a competition set by a trading company; the last captain of the ship The Star of Deltora is gone, so they set a competition per tradition to find the best new captain. Britta want's to find her dad who is a missing sailor. The book only takes place in Del, and ends with the ship sailing away to sea, ready for the next adventure. There are 3 more books in the series i have yet to read as they're out of print, but, it was a great return to a land I will always cherish.
