Another traditional piece I did some time ago.
This was for the publication of Monosmilus, a new, more than 1 m long sabertooth anchovy. It has a unique dentition with the prominent single saber tooth in the upper jaw and two asymmetrical tooth rows below. It looks like a fish drawn by kindergarten kids. Absolute bonkers.
Its from the Eocene of Pakistan and here it's going after some of its own relatives while a basal whale is on the hunt after our Monosmilus itself.

Anchovies!
Some anchovy species can grow as long as 40 cm (15 and a half inches) while some can be as small as only 2 cm (1 inch)! Anchovies are typically greenish in colour but appear blue or grey due to a reflective stripe running along their sides.
