#And Bobby knows they're talking about Ravi but he thinks maybe with a little more time Buck will agree with him about the other thing too.

911 Characters + dogs you think they should own
okay im sooo sorry it's taken me so long to reply to this but i wanted to really mull it over and i've been thinking about it a lot and i've come up with a basic list for the main chars (+ a few that are Main In My Heart) i've paired off the canon couples since they would be getting the dog together.
bobby (and athena, but i'm putting bobby specifically because athena is allergic to dogs and thus this is His dog) - Chinese crested dog (i originally was debating between bichon and toy poodle but then i saw the error of my ways) bobby rescues this older, a little bit in need of some tlc chinese crested and it's perfect because they're a pretty hypoallergenic breed (the hairless ones at least, which is what bobby rescues), athena is hesitant about the dog at first,
henren - golden retriever / mix, i know they had a smaller dog in the past but personally i think they should have a medium/large dog next, a rescue who is a little older (past puppyhood/young adult bc hooo boy you don’t need a puppy and a baby at the same time), idk if it’s a full golden or a mixed breed with some golden in it but it’s a very even tempered fluffy dog who’s a total sweetheart (if sometimes a little stubborn about moving… i’m not speaking from any person experience what are you talking about)
madney - staffy mix, okay i’m giving credit to maddie (@thebuckley-hans) for getting me on the madney getting a staffy agenda and also the wonderful staffy mix at my work who is an ANGEL. again they rescue a little older of a dog (bc i am NOT subjecting my blorbos to puppy & young child i’m not doing that!!!! getting a puppy when you have a baby is a trend that needs to die out imo <3 why would you subject yourself to that On Purpose)
bonus for madney - i also think they should get a boston terrier, maybe a little later when jee is a little more grown up, bc hooo boy bostons can be fucking wild but i have a soft spot for bostons and also THE madney ep... boston... yeah
eddie - english bulldog. this is based on approx nothing except for the fact that we had our bulldog regular, George, at work recently and i thought it would be funny if eddie somehow ended up with a bulldog and i’ve been stuck on this concept ever since
buck - irish wolfhound. this is absolutely me projecting my captivation on the breed that ive had for so long (my original want for him was a newfoundland, for uh, similar reasons, but i feel soooooo bad putting on in california) i just think he should have a Real Big Dog (as @scattered-winter has put it, a dog that could just lie on him and be like a weighted blanket)
ravi - okay i have two VERY different vibes for ravi that i cannot decide between. one is a border collie, theyre... very intense but i think he would go all in on the training, it might be a little challenging with his long shifts though, they dont do well with being left alone/boredom but he could have a pettsitter situation. now on the COMPLETE OPPOSITE END OF THE SPECTRUM, i could also see ravi with a little spoiled purse dog, i'm thinking lhasa apso? (am i biased bc one of my dogs is supposedly 20% lhasa, maybe) i think he would would dote on that dog sooo hard and spoil her and she have little spa days and maybe her and bobby's dogs are friends......
lucy - shetland sheepdog. i cannot explain it but i got it in my head of her having sheltie(s) and its stuck like glue. she just has the Sheltie Person Vibe I CANT EXPLAIN IT
may - mixed breed as a bonus i think may should have a scruffy lil mixed breed, not small small but like medium small. just a scrungley guy (maybe a cairn terrier mix?)
okay yeah!! i think this is it!! apologies again for the long ass ramble and the delayed response but i thought about this a lot and im just!!! thank you for this ask!!!

5x18 Ending Scene
So I found this ending scene interesting:
Tumblr media
This is after the frontal shot. Here you can see Ravi more towards the front as is Chim, behind Bobby. Buck has moved forward, past Eddie, and almost seems next to Lucy who is also next to Hen. Eddie is straggling behind. They're all running to their positions to get into the fire engine.
This is the front shot before it:
Tumblr media
Here, you can see Buck is actually looking at Eddie (while we were never shown where Buck was coming from like we did the others) and he gives a little smile (Oliver makes choices as does this show) even though Eddie isn't looking at him or saying anything. This is meant to show the 118 is back together and in sync butttt
When you watch the end of the scene, going back to the rear shot up above, after it, we see Chim and Hen get into the right truck (because now they are completely back in sync, which is also why on the front shot, they may not be walking together in order to give Bobby the foreground but they are maintaining the same stride; they kept the newbies on the outskirts but while Lucy is walking neck and neck with Hen, Ravi is still a bit behind Chim because he's still a probie; they purposely kept Buck and Eddie in the back maintaining the same stride; he only begins to move past Eddie once everyone else does, i.e. Chim and Hen) but everyone else heads to a different truck.
Then we see this:
Tumblr media
Buck and Lucy are neck and neck while Eddie is behind. (while Bobby and Ravi are up front) It's not exactly the same framing as the Buck/Taylor/Eddie deal but pretty close to it.
Then the next shot we get as the trucks pull out is this:
Tumblr media
That's Lucy and I'm thinking that's Ravi maybe? (especially since Chim and Hen supposedly got into a different truck and we know Bobby is in the captain's seat) We don't get to see who Lucy and Ravi are talking to but if we assume Hen and Chim are in a different truck (though tbf it looks like the same one) then it's got to be Buck or Eddie.
And considering the only times we've seen Eddie in that seat Lucy has is earlier in season 5 when he was teasing Buck and in season 2 (2x04) with Christopher, and we've seen Buck usually in that seat one way or another, plus Lucy and Eddie don't know each other that well yet, I'm going to say it's Buck. Which is on point if we go by the framing, that while Buck and Eddie are back together in action, and their friendship is solid, there's still something that's still throwing them off sync. It could be Eddie's absence, though from that front shot I tend to doubt it (plus look at how well they worked together at the dispatch center fire). Personally, I think it's because Eddie is now in a prime position to not only figure out what he wants in his life but also to go after it. He's in a good place right now and that shows, especially by him being back with the 118, even after showing up at Bobby's with the line of "Don't worry, I don't have any transfer requests in my hand." He did the work Bobby wanted him to do and it shows. He's doing better.
While Buck made a decision that was better for him (ending things with TK) and he's Buck 3.0 (or whatever version he is now), in a better head space as well, it still feels like he's not quite in the same place as Eddie. (which if you think about it is an odd choice for them not to show us where Buck was coming from) Buck is confident in who he is, knows what he wants, he's made a lot of progress, we've seen that. But we also see him being a bit OOC this season and we didn't get a view into him as much as we usually do. Some can blame the writing/planning of the season (I'm sure that contributed) but I think it's also purposeful. (why else cut out all of the supposed Lucy and Buck flirting scenes? It wasn't just to knock down Lucy's role and change the purpose of her character)
So here we are again, with Buck and Eddie back together, somewhat in sync but not completely 100%. Something is still off. Especially when looking at all of this and realizing that the show purposely had Chim and Hen get into a truck together and chose to keep that shot in that sequence. We didn't see anyone else get into the truck (which was odd, don't we usually see Chim and Hen get into the ambulance?), instead the rest of them walking past it, to emphasize the contrast in the two partnerships. They could have had Hen and Lucy get in. They could have shown Bobby rounding the truck to get in the captain's seat but they didn't. They purposely chose for that shot to happen and for the audience to see it. To have Buck running ahead but keeping stride with Lucy with Eddie lagging behind. That Bobby and Ravi basically all but disappear from view. They chose this angle for a reason.
Do I think this sets Lucy up as a love interest for Buck? No, I don't. For a few reasons. 1) They didn't lay enough of a romantic foundation between the two. Instead, they removed all of the flirting scenes, had a Taylor jealousy scene be about Taylor and Buck and not about Lucy, had Lucy write off the kiss as a drunken mistake to Jonah, and had it become a butt of a joke for the 118 to laugh at this episode. (which interestingly enough they chose to do without Eddie being present, just saying) 2) I have no idea if AK will be around next season, has that been confirmed? and 3) it would be weird for Buck to end the BT relationship which they built up at the end of season 4 only to dismantle it this season (after showing us all season how Taylor was trying hard to be what Buck needed but couldn't quite be) only to jump into another one and with a fellow firefighter in his unit no less. Also, I do believe Lucy was a stand-in for Eddie for Buck and now that Eddie is back, I see her being relegated to another member (if she sticks around) like Ravi. At best, maybe another friend for Buck. But that's basically it. I don't see them turning sexual either but even if that were to happen, the emotional foundation (for it to turn romantic) just isn't there and again, why go the same route he did with Taylor right before this? We all saw how that panned out, especially Buck.
Butttt while I think Buck and Lucy have settled into a comfortable camaraderie in the 118, it should be interesting to see how this newfound dynamic will impact Eddie and/or possibly his partnership/friendship with Buck. We saw Buck talking to Eddie all season about things that were for lack of better wording, affecting him emotionally. We never saw Buck discuss the cheating/kiss with Eddie. That means something and you cannot tell me differently.
One thing is for sure that we all know by now: this show makes choices. Tim and KR may not be in a rush to define the Buddie relationship but everything else they do points to what they're not willing to come out with just yet. And while some may say QB in order to keep interest/ratings, you're only half right. They know this is one of the biggest relationships they have going in the show, next to the other three of course, and is part of the reason why some tune in. They're not going to cave into fan demands to define it or give them what they want so quickly or easily to turn around and lose ratings/interest. Henren was established from the pilot. Bathena became canon the end of season 1 and they double-downed on it in season 2. Madney became canon in season 2 (with JLH's entry into the show) and has been a sure thing up until this season. And even though their fate as a couple is up in the air right now, they share a family (which, isn't that an interesting parallel to Buck and our Diaz boys? just saying) and clearly still care about one another. Buck and Taylor didn't work out. Eddie and Ana didn't work out. They only have 4 other new characters: Ravi, Lucy (who started as possible monkey wrench for Buck and remains to be seen for Buck if she stays in the show), Taylor (who was with Buck; now she's gone at least as a romantic partner), and Albert (who we have only seen hook up with Buck's ex-date Veronica in season 4). So unless they intend to bring in some new characters, my point is: the four main relationships on this show is their bread and butter (besides the phenomenal story telling of the events and character arcs). Obviously, it's not all about romance, but I'm mentioning Buddie specifically here for a sec.
They're not going to cheapen it or take the easy way out. Not while they can continue to squeeze it a little more. And definitely not when they have put this much work into layering the foundation in each Buck's and Eddie's story lines to work them up to a point where they come together in the middle and it will then be seamless. Not to mention they also have Christopher involved. Buddie will happen, I'm confident it will. It just won't be something they'll throw out into a season premiere or on the off hand episode in the middle of a season (unless it's a mid-season finale) which will end up being a flash in the pan and boom, it flames out. They still have a bit more to go with the story telling of these two but trust me, they know how important this relationship is to a lot of people and they know just how vital the relationship is to each character's story now. They made that very clear by choosing to have Buck talk to Eddie each time he needed emotional support and emotional intimacy (yes I'm using that word because that's exactly what it was) and even chose to show us the contrast of him talking to Taylor. He had to almost vie for Taylor's attention at times; he never did with Eddie, Eddie was just there. He didn't always feel comfortable talking to Taylor and almost seemed hesitant at times, like he couldn't trust her or he was worried about what she would say; that's not how he feels when talking to Eddie. And vice versa. While we didn't see as much of Eddie and Ana's relationship as we did of BT, it was enough. Not to mention Eddie's 5B arc.
So they know and it will happen, we just don't know when for sure. Depending on how successful the show continues to be and actor contracts (and if they get renewed/the actors want to stay), we could be in for a long haul. But tbh, I wouldn't have it any other way. The writing on this show is so phenomenal, the structuring, the performances, the story telling devices they use, the constant balancing act of all of the ensemble cast's stories, I am way okay with the slow burn they're giving us. Because the payoff is going to be absolute fucking amazing when it happens. And it will all be worth it in the end.
So even if Lucy becomes a thing or another character is introduced for Buck or Eddie or both next season, don't worry. It's all blips on the huge Buddie roadmap we're meant to follow to get to the end destination which is:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So going back to the ending scene of 5x18, all of that framing and editing tells us one thing: Season 6 is sure going to be interesting. And if Lucy sticks around, it will be even more interesting because you know who (aka Eddie Petty Bitch Diaz) will be making a comeback. And I would sell half of my soul to watch that shit play out each week. (I'll need the other half for when Buddie does finally happen and I ascend on the spot)
Hang in there, peeps. <3

I know this is probably the worst thing to want, but the more I think about it, the more I want Bobby to die in the season 6 finale. I don’t know why this thought has hooked itself into my brain. I’ve been pretty unsatisfied with parts of seasons 5 and 6, I’ll easily admit. Usually, killing someone off is the last thing I want. I think killing off characters for shock value is just the worst.
But think of the changes that would force in the narrative! Chimney’s being forced into the captain's role. The shakeup at the 118 as the team dynamic would face a permanent switch up, production wise there's a main spot open for Anirudh, so Ravi could in theory step in to help with the shakeup.
Imagine the emotional scenes with Angela as she plays a grieving Athena. Imagine Athena trying to deal with this loss. Imagine Athena, who is probably both sad and angry at this, but with no bad guy that she can focus on. You think of Athena, and you think she'd raise hell to bring the ones responsible for her husband's death to justice. But this was just an accident - what will Athena do when there's no bad guy to bring to justice?
Maybe this would force some character growth for Buck that could stick? Sorry, but Mr. Buckly - who is so unimportant at this point in Buck's life that I can't even remember his name. He and Buck's mom are really just the sperm and egg donors, and you can't convince me otherwise. Anyway - Bobby's death would be Buck losing a parent, really. And Buck and older men dying are kind of a thing for the show.
God, Buck having to deal with the death of a close loved one in this part of the season is so focused on death, while he's still trying to come to terms with his own brush with mortality. If he wasn't spiraling before about why he survived, he would be after losing Bobby.
Also, just putting it out there, Conor and his wife letting Buck name their child, or asking him for a name and him asking if they can name them Bobby - I don't remember if they're having a boy or girl, but it works so freaking well here because Bobby can be a boy's or girl's name short for Robert or Roberta.
You want me to care about Buck and the baby he's giving up for adoption? Or whatever the term for the legality around this is? Have him hold little baby Bobby, a new life that reminds him that life is a precious gift. Or something.
Hen? We could see her doing her Hen thing and just being there for everyone. Athena, Chimney, and Buck - she's their rock, their pillar. And then we see her break down because she lost a friend, her captain—dare I say a father figure? Headcanon is coming out here - but I kind of like to think of Bobby as firedad; he was very dad shaped for everyone. But yeah, it would be cool to see a strong and wise Hen cry and tell everyone, "I need support too." I'd cry, you'd all cry; you know you would!
Eddie, goddamn, losing the man that fought so hard for him to join his team. No one really points it out, but Bobby was the first person to look at Eddie in the show and say, 'You're enough; you're exactly what I want for my team, Eddie." And I keep thinking back to when Eddie left the 118 and tried to getback,k and how Bobby was part of the reason he got help. He told Bobby that he saved him and Chris, and I do like Eddie's story of reconnecting with Raymon. I hate Helen, but I get that some people want to and can forgive their parents for the things they say. So it might be nice to see him deal with the loss of Bobby with their help.
Basically, I'd love to see the Diaz parents realize Eddie is mourning this man because, for the longest time, he didn't have them, and he'd turned to this stranger to fill a parental role. And then I could enjoy them trying to do better—actually, I think that's why I've been okay with Raymon; we've seen him actually acknowledge what he did wrong. This post will become much longer and more profane if I start talking about Chimney and Buck's parents and how they were pardoned by their children, so I’ll just not.
I guess I just need something big to get me to feel for these characters again. But to be honest with how this show's being run right now. If they did kill off Bobby I could see half of the development just happening off screen. They'd be like, who wants to see these characters talk about their problems and feelings? But I could at least hold out hope for something a little more interesting with a bit of a gut punch.

SaL anon here a bit early bestie, ostensibly to wish us luck for tonight's LS episode which will finally give us a Grace storyline but is tragically coupled with yet another Owen's sex life storyline which I could not give a fuck about and OMG last night's episode was SO FUCKING GOOD!! Finally we were fed well with the Chim content, and he really did get to shine. Pairing him with Ravi, getting him to be the one to push Ravi back out there the way Bobby kind of did for him, I loved every second. We even got spoiled with some Buckley-Han family crumbs that were absolutely adorable!! Loved seeing Bobby desperately looking for criticism from his team and every one of them just noping out (again LOVED Chim finally giving in at the end with the "why don't you just tell us?!!"). I did appreciate that if they are determined to do this whole Nathaniel thing they're following through, though I'm a little 😒 at the way it was shoved in at the end). And God the Eddie "dating" stuff was so much better than I was expecting (ignoring the utter and complete lack of setup). Ryan's face the entire time was just priceless, if these aren't choices on his part like what are his scene notes?? Eddie looks at Buck *look like you're Cinderella and the prince just asked you to dance*. Eddie looks at or talks about a date *look somewhere between panicked and like you have an ulcer*. We'll see how this goes since there's not much season left but at least for this episode I had fun. We got, at least for one glorious episode all the firefam feels and I'm taking the win!! Maybe even with a song...
Oh yeah, uh, good luck watching LS (guess I should have saved the scene muting comment for this episode and Owen) 🍷🍷🍷!!!
Yes yes, very excited about Grace as always, and Owen is...whatever. Though the compressions on the frozen guy could at least be interesting for emergency related fun stuff.
ANYWAY, HOW ABOUT THAT EPISODE LAST NIGHT?!?!?! The TVFanatic review was absolutely spot on with my issues in regards to Eddie's storyline, as well as wondering if it will ultimately turn out well, but it was SO much better than I was prepared for. And while the message of "Eddie has no gf and therefore MUST be lonely" that was being pushed on him was very 😒 it was shown to absolutely be coming from a place of love. (Eddie is the favorite grandson and nephew, you cannot change my mind.) Ryan's choices have been very...loud, not just in his scenes with Buck but how he's approaching this whole dating thing so we'll see how it turns out! (Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll cut the Folger's girl stuff? It's never too late to manifest!)
The Bobby stuff this episode was EXACTLY the kind of fun firefam stuff we needed while still serving a purpose, and it really felt like old times, and it was so good seeing Maddie back at work even briefly. And I know some people found it cringy but I too could not help but sing along if I heard music so 🤷🏻‍♀️ I get it, kid! I think the Nathaniel stuff will probably end fine, but again we have another bungled set up that really just needed a touch of tweaking but at least we got a Hen/Athena talk out of it!
Every. Single. Second. of the Ravi and Chim stuff was RIVETING and felt so much like home. It was so so so good and I petition for Kenny to have more storylines and do more interviews! I am sooooo happy to have Ravi back home again (even if they could have given a crumb or two instead of erasing him from the show for almost a whole season and bringing him back with no warning), and I'm excited to see how the big emergency in the finale plays out.
Cheers friend, and I can't wait to hear what song you've got for us!

ok but for ravi's graduation ceremony at the 118 they all pitch in and buy him a blåhaj
please i'm going to burst into tears
"Ravi," Buck hisses, "Just—just come over here for a second."
Ravi's long since given up on trying to understand his coworkers-that-border-on-family. Buck is hiding behind the locker room; the small hallway that leads to the bunks, and Eddie's poking his head out over his shoulder.
It's pretty quiet around the station—Ravi's graduation ceremony was earlier, but everyone's left now so all that remains are pink and blue ribbons and half a cake that reads "You Panikkan!"—and even though he's no longer a probie as of four hours ago, Buck is making him sweep the floor for confetti anyway.
"What?" Ravi asks, brandishing his broom like a weapon. Buck's holding something behind his back. "That'd better not be a chainsaw."
"It's not!" Buck protests, and behind him, there are several muffled sounds of protest, "Ow, Hen, that was my foot!". "It's better!"
"Buck," Eddie says placatingly, patting his...whatever's shoulder. "Maybe, don't talk about the chainsaw as better...or good."
Behind Ravi, there are footsteps. Immediately, Ravi knows they're Bobby's, and then he kind of hates that he knows that, because he still gets Marcus and Avi mixed up sometimes, and he'd like to think he spends more time at home than with the 118.
(Obviously, he doesn't. But he'd like to think so.)
"What's going on?" Bobby asks, and in tandem, they walk over to the hidden corner. Buck, Eddie, Chimney, and Hen are all gathered looking pleased with themselves, though they're all squished together...definitely hiding something.
In Ravi's experience, that usually means he's about to get bullied (affectionate, but also a little derogatory). "What is it?" he asks. "Are you going to confess to switching up the graduation song to Party in the U.S.A.?"
"It's a gay anthem."
"It's literally not, Buck." Ravi shakes his head, mystified. "How do you—"
"Anyway," Hen interrupts—that grin with teeth that screams I am the only woman in this friend group and I can't escape. "We have something for you, Ravi." She pushes Buck forward and he stumbles a little.
"We got you a stuffed shark," Buck announces, pulling out a two-foot-long stuffed animal out from behind him. "Because you're j—"
"Oh my god!" Ravi exclaims. "Is that a Blåhaj?"
"—awsome," Buck finishes, frowning. "What's a Blåhaj?"
"He's a Blåhaj," Ravi says, waving his hands to emphasize his point. Eddie looks vaguely amused, Hen looks proud but also like she'd like to go back to studying for Med School, and Chim smacks his gum. "I'm naming him Sharky."
"You're not fucking naming him—"
"I am," Ravi declares, because it's incredibly fun to annoy Buck. "He's perfect."
"You're welcome," the 118 declares all together—Ravi really does not need that to become part of his personality, thank you. Bobby shakes his head, mystified, and Eddie takes the broom from him with a smile, prodding Buck as he goes.
Sharky doesn't fit in Ravi's locker, so he sticks him in his duffle bag and leaves the zipper open so that he can breathe, snapping a picture and sending it to Sebastian: look!
Nice! comes the response. You named him sharky?
just like we talked about, lol. worked perfectly. Because the two foot long thing has been sticking out the window of Buck's jeep for the last week, and even though he parks in the back, it's less than inconspicuous.
He hangs it up in his room, right next to his shield.

liz i thought i sent this but. my question is what is your favorite ravi headcanon!
hi grace! it's all good i'm only just back online now anyways hehe
ok omg obviously shout out to @queerpanikkar em's sebastian like no. 1 ravi headcanon that's now absolutely canon sorry i don't make the rules BUT besides that
my absolute ride or die hot take is ravi has a crush on buck. a colossal, monumental, blushing in the locker room crush. this isn't groundbreaking i know a lot of people have talked about this but like. i just think that buck. even though he's an absolute terror to ravi at first. still so obviously has a kind heart beneath those rippling pectorals and eddie's still recovering from his bullet wound when ravi switches to A shift so he's first exposed to a buck sans eddie who is. who is a little sad. and a little lonely. and ravi? ravi recognises that. of course it doesn't hurt that buck literally looks like he could grace every single month of the hot firefighters calendar but still. still. and when buck acts like a dick to ravi he can temper that crush a little, knows it's never going to happen, especially when eddie comes back to work and ravi's like *pikachu meme*
but then. but then? buck tries to transfer. and says ravi should take his place? and when ravi tells him he likes being who he is and buck gives him that smile in return... well, let's just say he's glad buck's divorced ;) wait what do you mean buck and eddie aren't divorced
further shoutouts to shark slippers ravi, he/they pansexual ravi, can actually cook really well ravi who does dinner for the firehouse one shift and they're all like. what. the FUCK THIS IS AMAZING PROBIE?
but yes. simp for buck ravi. who maybe years later when he and sebastian are steady and buck and eddie are engaged admits to eddie, a little tipsy, that he used to have an absolute monster of a crush on his fiance. and eddie, a little tipsy himself, leans over the gap between them so his deck chair (they're at bobby and athena's) tilts dangerously and pats ravi seriously on the bicep.
"me too," he confesses solemnly, then wobbles and tips all the way over. buck finds the two of them sprawled out on athena's neatly scrubbed pavers ten minutes later, giggling hopelessly into their glasses of rose.
"do i even wanna know?" he asks dryly, which sends eddie and ravi into another fit of laughter.
tipsy once more, ravi tells the story at buck and eddie's reception, to great applause. buck's blushing bright red when he finishes.
sleepover weekend time!
