i love that the entire kitchen is aware Something's going on but they have no clue What or just how deep in it max and george are. charles and pierre definitely debrief after a long week and gossip and i think that's so funny. charles after two shots like. who's going to bring up the elephant (george and max are definitely fucking) in the room first and once they start, they can't stop. i also love that landoscar take it 10x more serious than max and george... them both being paranoid about slipping up, always checking over their shoulders, maybe even referring to george and max in code names Just To Be Safe. whole time george and max are so public and open about it, you'd think they'd already told the kitchen.

THIS IS GOOD FUCKING FOOD. the news that russell is there... because nobody calls him george... like. everyone stops momentarily. the pause is like. .2 seconds but Everyone notices. charles and pierre eye each other, alex and max have a stare down (alex's eye twitches) and oscar's about to pass out (bless his soul). when max silently clocks out for his break, nobody knows what to do. seriously? the article, max? when max drops them the compliment, lets charles take over and run the kitchen AND bumps oscar into the sous position, everyone's Sure Max is about to get excommunicated from the food-world for fighting a critic. only, when pierre steals a glance at the table (the best one in the house, of course), max has this look - one he's never seen before, and george is wearing it too. they're both absolutely smitten with each other.

alex still calling max chef despite max being on break is fucking comedy and beautiful and in this essay i will- also im so glad we both agree pierre and alex are waiters. like. to add, i think lewis needs to work at the same firm as george <3

charles and pierre sharing a cigarette as they walk through paris on a chilly friday night after closing the restaurant just gossiping because What The Fuck? how could max not tell either of us? but it's the best piece of gossip that's circled through the kitchen in literal months so they're rinsing it to filth. ILL GO CRAZY. max is usually so good at hiding what he's thinking. that's what his father trained him to do. a good chef Never lets anyone know what he's really thinking. but max blushes the meanest red and feels like a victorian woman seeing an elbow for the first time when george looks at him *that way* or touches him for the briefest of moments. like. he's out of breath and feels slightly manic. he's so insane i love him.

YES YES YES. YES. YES. YES. and max experiments with food all the time because they're a high-end restaurant in fucking paris. they cycle through menus regularly, and george is Always the first to try or see max's little creations. think it would be funny if max just Sends pictures of the food to george. doesn't even attach a message with it like *hey what do you think?* no it's just the food. it's okay though because george sends him back a 3 paragraph essay and then has Even More Thoughts when he's able to try it later. also the menu names??? don't make me fucking crazy. princesse could definitely be a dessert of some kind, they name the first dish max ever cooked at george's flat champs elysees and of course pierre and charles are on the same page. this Has to relate to george somehow.

max is literally in charge of oscar and i don't make the rules. like. max has kitten adopted him you are so right my angel. it's very rare that george drops anything other than food reviews, so the article about oscar takes everyone in the kitchen by surprise. like. oscar definitely cries about it after he's seen it because He Knows and lando's just so happy oscar's happy :) oh my god what if what if what if just for shits and giggles george writes an article about the restaurant after max's third michelin star and he's just in the kitchen overseeing max work and he's so incredibly fond. lando's there too snapping away and max has to be like *aren't you supposed to be taking pictures of the entire kitchen?* and lando doesn't even feel bad because he has. like. 30 really good shots of oscar working on this pesto.

max is just. so incredibly happy after his third star. what if he opens another restaurant in marseille after the third star :) i'll leave us off on that

7. yuki- you might expect that because he's small and cute and loves food that he would be higher on the baby waby scale, but he's shown a bit of a propensity for deviousness and general trickster behavior, especially when it comes to convincing others of his baby waby status, which knocks him down a few places overall

Cutie Reviews: TokyoTreat Feb 20

Hello! Before I begin the review I wanted to explain that this box had a LOT of repeat. Like I've been doing lately I won't be reviewing the repeated items unless I have reason to. I do this not out of laziness, but because I don't think a review would be very interesting to constantly write/see "I had this before. It's good like last time/I hate it still." for each thing. So if I don’t write anything for certain items, you’ll understand why.

(It’s probably just me but every time I look at this picture I keep thinking that these girls are third-wheels to the other... am I the only one?)

“The season of romance is upon us! But you know what they say, partners come and go but friends are for life! That’s why this year, we wanted to make a box for gifting and sharing that says “thanks for being a friend”. And where better to find snacks and sweet treats than Japan, home of Tomo-Choco (friendship chocolate)! We found some tasty Japanese goodies with unique flavor combinations for you to share with your squad. So grab your besties and come with an empty stomach, it’s snack time!“

This month’s flavors are Strawberry and Azuki.

Before we get to the review I had a couple of things to cover first.

In this box we received an ad for a new show known as Gochi Gang, along with a notice explaining that the strawberry pocky we were going to get this month was replaced with the strawberry koala’s march. This was done because during this period, there were several poor koala harmed from wildfires and left homeless.

Lucky Treat & Photo Contest

For this month, the lucky treat consists of cardcaptor themed goods. The photo contest featured Rilakkuma, Korilakkuma, and Kiroitori.

Blendy Stick Hojicha Cafe au lait

As I’ve said before, I really don’t like tea all that much. In January’s box we got tea, which wasn’t terrible, and other tea I’ve tried hasn’t been the worst either. So I try to remain hopeful when I try out new things like this.

This hojicha blend is roasted, giving it a smooth caramel-ish scent when mixed with a creamy milk. As usual, I wait until I do the review to try a product, so I heated some up with milk since I usually don’t mind milk tea very much.

Okay, so I don’t know if it’s because I suddenly got a headache or what, but this was pleasantly delicious! I didn’t need to add sugar or anything. It’s not really sweet, but it has a faint caramel creaminess to it.

It’s very soothing, and oddly enough I feel like it actually calmed my headache a little. If I end up finishing this box I might order some more, I wouldn’t mind drinking it more often.

Strawberry Heart Marshmallows & Strawberry Soft-serve

Here’s an example of 2 items I had before. But I did want to mention that these are the types of items that do not hold up very well over time. But in different ways- for example, the marshmallows were still pretty fresh when I opened them, in comparison to the ultra-chewy soft serve marshmallow.

The marshmallows are still yummy now even though I did these pictures at the beginning of the month, they’re just a little hard but not crunchy or stale tasting. The soft serve left a nasty taste in my mouth though.

Oh, where to begin with these... Okay, well first, they look very cute. The packaging is also really cute. Gummies are delicious, and I do like sour candy, but I’m not a huge fan of honey when there’s too much...

Okay, so originally I thought I’d love these. Then I hated it so much when I actually tried them, but now that I slowly ate one piece-by-piece and kept them in my mouth I found it tolerable. I only feel like I could eat one at a time, but I didn’t cringe or anything :D

Strawberry and Milk Cream Cake & Uncle Pierre’s Roll Cake

The cream cake was delicious but lightly flavored, which would probably be ideal if you don’t like overwhelming sweetness. The coating of the cake is sorta transparent, in comparison to the white clearly shown on the packaging. Would recommend.

The roll cake is fine, pretty basic. The cream is very yummy, but it’s not like pink like the package shows. The cake outside is pretty basic.

Caramel Corn, Strawberry Daifuku KitKats, and Strawberry and Chocolate Hearts

CC - ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ surprisingly, this one actually has peanuts in it! It’s a first for me :D I don’t like peanuts, but they gave it a different flavor than usual.

SDKK - ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

SCH - ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ I love these a lot, would recommend!

Veggie Hearts, Dragon Chips, and Aji Cheese Chips

ACC - ♥ the texture is pretty nice, but even if I eat these super-fresh upon arrival they always taste stale. I’ve had them a couple of times and it’s never any different.

VH - ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ I love vegetable chips but they’re so light in flavor. THESE however, are very strong in flavor. I love them!

Meanwhile, our new item, the “Dragon Chips“ are a combination of tarako and buttery flavors. It’s a unique taste that I thought was pretty good, and they’re fun to look at. I’d recommend them too.

♥ Cutie Ranking ♥

Content - 2 out of 5. Besides one item everything was fine, I didn’t really hate anything. BUT, I didn’t feel like the box deserved a high content ranking from me personally because it was almost entirely composed of repeats. Theme - 2-3 out of 5. Obviously with the strawberry, chocolate, and hearts we can say they had a cute Valentine’s theme going on. But considering how “sweet oriented” last months box was, I felt like this one could have probably been a bit better? You know, more sweets, more cute fluffiness.

Total Rank: 5 out of 10. It was a perfectly fine box with a nice, well-rounded mix of items. I’d recommend it, especially the tea if you can find it. I still can’t get over how much I liked it, and my headache is gone too :3 But as I said, on a personal level I’m.... pretty disappointed with the box overall. They have made better ones in the past. I love getting to try out new foreign items, so I really hate getting so many repeats in the same box.

Lately, I’ve been considering dropping TokyoTreat and picking up a new brand that I found. I really don’t want to, but it feels like it’s becoming harder to look elsewhere lately...

Great Comet 8/17

I was sitting stage left banquettes, row BC. A lot of this is stuff I didn’t notice the first time around in the orchestra, or specific actor interactions!

-I told the usher who showed me to my seat that he had, the best job in the world and he wholeheartedly eagerly agreed with me, saying he gets to watch the full show every other night and that he’s started sitting on the opposite side of the stage to get a different view. Everyone involved in this show loves it with everything they have and that is part of what makes it so special.

-During Prologue Natasha and Sonya cross arms so Natasha drinks Sonya’s shot and Sonya drinks Natasha’s shot what cuties!

-Dolokhov fist bumps so much i love the little party man

-at “minor charaaacterrrrs’ an ensemble member made eye contact with me and put his thumb and pointer finger close together. I did the same and he nodded emphatically

-Scott Stangland was on as Pierre and honestly his physical acting blows me away? He moved so slowly and heavily. It seemed like every step took such immense effort because he’s just so weighed down with despair. It really helped me sympathize with Pierre even more than I already had

-From where I was sitting Pierre’s back was to me when he sat at the piano, but the spot where sheet music usually goes was mirrored, so I was able to see his facial expressions! which is just, so genius. When Pierre wasn’t there the conductor placed an ipad with all his sheet music there

-Anatole walked across stage and rolled his eyes at Pierre when he sang ‘left it toothless and bald’ and ensemble members on the staircase next to me laughed/pointed fingers at Pierre :(((

-Marya hits every note with such a wonderful balance of aggression and playfullness and it will never cease to amaze me

-Sonya and Natasha held hands as they walked aw

-Mary and old prince Bolkonsky were onstage this whole time, in the area below the platform by the big door. Mary was reading a bible and bolkonsky was whittling. He trembles SO MUCH him holding a pocket knife was. a fright.

-At bolkonsky’s “people enjoy me though” I felt a light on me and he made direct eye contact with me and squinted and I squinted back and then he like nodded and waved and I waved back and then he continued singing

-Marya played a cowbell upstage later on in the song

-I was like right in line with the violist and two cellists and I kept getting distracted by how crazy their shifts and slides are omg

-During the Opera for “no I am enjoying myself at home this evening” Pierre did a half-hearted/sarcastic ‘raise the roof’ motion

-there is one point, I cannot for the life of me remember when it happened bc I was so caught off guard, but Anatole like crawled on the woman in front of me and had his mouth up to her ear and his hand was on the back of the seat literally inches away from my knee and it was. A lot. ((later he gave this woman the most intense bedroom eyes and like, damn. Natasha, girl, I get it))

- At anatole’s “we’re off to the club” he dramatically swings on his leather vest, grabbing it out of Pierre’s salon

-at one point Anatole turned away from pierre and leaned on a bar and blew air out of his mouth to flutter his lips it was so goofy

-okay the strobe lights paired with the music so intense I could feel the stage vibrating paired with everyone in the fricken bdsm leather outfits made for,, the most surreal experience of my entire life

-Marya dragging that riding crop slooooowwwllyy through her legs like? kill me? wow?

-Balaga literally lifted Sonya up on the ledge above where bolkonsky had been sitting earlier and mimed eating her out and sonya tilted her head back so it was kinda under another girl’s skirt geez. And then later at the bouncy ‘here’s to the health of married woman’ part balaga gave sonya a piggy back ride?? Like jumping with her on his back omg

-Helene and Dolokhov full on kiss and the music short circuits and everyone falls to the ground and it was so fricken intense

-Pierre puts his arms out before Dolokhov raises his gun like he’s just so ready to die and it. h u r t s

-after dolokhov shot pierre doubled over and stayed that way for so long. Long enough for an ensemble member to lean over and mime to ask if he was okay

-dust and ashes started off so tentatively and timidly he’s so hurt and scared but by the end he’s fiercely grabbing the air in front of him, so resolved to change and I love love love the contrast

-during charming two people hold up the dress for Natasha to glide into and then she walked downstage a little and looked at Helene like um, help? And then the two girls came up and buttoned the back of the dress for her.

-Natasha’s eyes glittered so intently during the ball. Her and Anatole dancing was so mesmerizing it really felt like they were the only two people in the room

-when she said ‘you’re hurting my hand’ Anatole released her so quickly and held his hands up in surrender and shook his head a little

-anatole and Natasha kissed for like a full minute and everyone on stage, every ensemble member, every musician, every part of the cast, held a glass of water and rubbed the rim to produce such an eerie sound. I didn’t see anyone pick up or put down these glasses I swear they materialized out of thin air

-during letters Anatole went on his knees and wrapped his arms around natashas waist and she makes a stubborn ‘I won’t look at you face’ and averts her eyes. Anatole kept moving his head around to try and make eye contact and he held out the last just say yessssss for so long his voice wavered and almost cut out and then came back in lucas steele is so good at hogging all of the attention

-sonya alone made me cry so very very much bc brittain ashford is a literal goddess

-anatole fumbled putting his suspenders on during preperations and I don’t know if it was lucas having trouble or Anatole being nervous but either way it was adorable

-Before the show started we had all been instructed that, at the line ‘everyone raise a glass’ we were supposed to mime raising a glass. We all practiced. It was swell. Cut forward to the abduction. I’m mesmerized by anatole’s coat. So mesmerized that I didn’t fully process that he had sung “everyone raise a glass” until I saw Marya out of the corner of my eye. I turn and shes glaring at me. So intensely. Of course she is. I missed my cue. I’ve brought shame on this family. I tentatively raise an arm, miming holding a glass. She leans across the couple sitting next to me and really aggressively puts two arms out in front of her. In my face. In this moment I thought Grace McLean was literally and truly going to strangle me, and I was ready. But my self-preservation instincts kicked in and I raised my other arm as well. She started to back away and then I pick up my water bottle and lift that, so I have one arm miming a glass and the other holding a water bottle and finally she looked satisfied. Thoroughly exasperated, but satisfied.

-everyone swayed back and forth in the audience once we were all successfully raising glasses and it was really special

-Dolokhov handed his guitar to the kid in front of me and shouted “can you hold this?? I need to go DANCE!”

-Anatole wildly and randomly playing his violin with the most crazed look on his face

-Helene and Marya kissing and touching, teasing and hungry

-Pierre started to do the ‘woooaaAAhhaHHh’ bit but he stopped, breathing heavy. Faked starting again and stopped and then finally did it for real LOL

-for ‘that’s the way’ about the fur coat Cathryn caught my eye and pointed and nodded

-During my house (which marya killed. I mean of course she did. She had almost strangled me for not following directions of course she was able to rip anatole kuragin a new one with just her voice), at one point when Natasha was running away Sonya leaned forward and silently mouthed PLEASE with so much horror and helplessness

-When pierre went to find Anatole, Anatole was lying with his head in helenes lap and she was petting his hair

-later when pierre was confronting Anatole with how awful he was Anatole was cowering and pulling at his hair so stressed and overwhelmed

-when Andrey is done talking with pierre he goes upstage and pushes past mary so gruffly but also in an annoying brotherly way. Poor mary. Always poor mary.

-Natasha walked down the stairs sO gingerly, toes, mid-foot, heel, whole body shakes, hands gripping the bannister with every ounce of strength she had

-pierre delivered the spoken lines so shyly/tenderly, ashamed of himself and who he was. I cried.

-and I sobbed through the entirety of the last song. From where I was the comet was in my line of sight before pierre, so being able to see that giant force of energy and looking just past that to see pierre, dwarfed in comparison, gazing up in such awe, wrecked me. The eerie tangling otherworldly notes are the perfect way to end the show, as everyone stares along with pierre at the great comet of 1812
