It takes the patience of a saint (or a fool) to put up with a century of this.

Just a note to say this is not a historical story and I'm not aiming for 100% period accuracy with this or any upcoming flashbacks. Please don't call me out if you notice any anachronisms!
Bartender: Sir, that’s the finest whiskey you’ll find in this city! In times like these, you shouldn’t let a single drop go to waste!
Caleb: [hisses disapprovingly] For God’s sake, Lilith! You’re barely a block away. It’s reckless of you. People could see.
Lilith: Oh, what does it matter? I was hungry, and it’s so dreadfully dull lurking in the shadows.
Caleb: You’re already blood drunk, by the looks of it.
Lilith: [grins impishly] Don’t spoil the mood, brother. Do you want in or not? He's dregs by now, but he may have enough left for a sip or two.
Lilith: Gosh, hunting for two really wipes a girl out. When will you start finding your own meals? It’s been years, and you’re no less squeamish. I never would have turned you if I knew you were going to be such a pussy about it!
Caleb: You’re growing too coarse, Lilith. It’s unbecoming of-
Lilith: Of a lady? We are vampires! How many times must I remind you of that? The rules of polite society no longer apply.
Caleb: We should have never gone to Straud. He changed you.
Lilith: He did nothing of the sort! I’m speaking only for myself when I tell you this existence is a gift. Why eternally tether yourself to petty human concerns when you can so easily choose to rise above them? Remember, I didn’t have to give this to you. But I thought you could handle it. The old man had reservations, as you very well know, but I told him you would rise to the occasion. Don’t make me eat my words. Wouldn't it be a shame to prove that dusty old windbag right?

I lost one of my chickens :( she was caught and carried away by a fox... I’ve been growing complacent about my chickens’ safety I think because we’ve only had one other attack before, a goshawk that swooped in abruptly (unsuccessfully), but no fox sightings nearby so I’ve been assuming Pandolf was a great deterrent. Which he is, just not foolproof. I’ve talked to some people in town about this and they were pretty philosophical about foxes stealing chickens, like “it’s the tribute we pay to woodland animals, it’s just a few hens here and there.” I don’t begrudge the fox for being a fox, if anything I have a renewed respect for foxes because everyone I talked to proceeded to give me their best / worst fox stories, and most of them involved foxes outsmarting humans (learning people’s habits / timetables, opening latches, faking a limp...) Still I feel terrible for my hen, she was only three. RIP Cordy :( You’ll be remembered fondly... (except by the cats.) I feel bad for the other hen too, who just lost her pal!
When I said that last thing, one of my neighbours jumped on the opportunity to try and convince me again to accept a rooster from him. He had a rooster baby boom last summer and I’ve been telling him for months that I don’t need a rooster, I don’t want to raise chickens I just want eggs, and his new argument was that a rooster would protect my hen (or if it comes to that, would heroically sacrifice himself rather than let the hen be eaten—I’m sceptical...) I asked around for a young hen but there aren’t any to be had in this season, so my remaining one is going to be alone until the spring, and my neighbour said she’d get stressed and male company is better than no company. (I wish I could ask my hen what she wants! Maybe she’s penning A Coop Of One’s Own as we speak.) I said the rooster was more likely to stress her out and harass her and he said nah they’re free ranging all day, it’ll be fine, and he’s young so your adult hen will boss him around. I was like, but then will he be any good at protecting her? etc. etc. and after a while I caved in.
When I told her about this on the phone my mum sighed “you’re terrible at saying no”—excuse me, I said no so many times and the guy just kept ploughing on until he could foist a rooster upon me. I’m good at saying no, other people are terrible at hearing it! I reassured her that I had only agreed to take the rooster for a short probationary period, and if he bothers my hen too much I’ll drive him back to his native farm. My mum was like “Drive him back? look I’m sorry I raised you as a city kid but there’s no need to waste gas on driving a rooster around, I’ll have no qualms about wringing his neck for dinner if he’s more trouble than he’s worth.” The rooster’s fate is not sealed though, if he is anywhere from vaguely useful to not actively problematic I’ll keep him, so we’ll see...!

Weird Horsegirl Ganondorf fun fact of today is that in Ocarina of Time Ganondorf rides without a bridle! Even in the concept art his horse lacks any bit or reigns (as does Epona, and every other horse).
What it mainly means is that the N64 didn't have the power to mess with an unnecessary complex item to render -- but what it could be interpreted to mean for the sake of fandom fun is that the horses are raised and trained to be ridden bridleless.
Not to be up my own headcanons about horses being a big thing in Gerudo Valley and Malon's mom being Gerudo and there being a reason that Gan's horse is specified as a pure black Gerudo Stallion because other Gerudo horses don't look like that but -- have you seen the dressings on the other horses?
All of them, even Zelda's horse, have a call to Gerudo patterning. Except for Epona, who was only able to be approached, touched, and ridden by Link and presumably Malon herself.
It's no secret that the Gerudo are more or less pulled from African and Arabic cultures, but fun fact about Arabian horses, they used to be given as prized gifts to royalty and important political figures.
So if they are inspired by Arabian horse history --
Although the specific area of the Arabian Peninsula where the breed originated can’t be pinpointed, it is widely accepted that around 2500 B.C., the Bedouin people were responsible for developing the desert horses that became the ancestors of the Arabian horse. The nomads’ keen horse sense and meticulous attention to proper care and breeding created an animal that could withstand the harsh environment of the desert, surviving extreme heat and cold with little water and the food they shared with their handlers. A life of travel also required horses with great lung capacity, endurance and stamina. (x)
It's very possible that all of the horses in OoT have ancestry in Gerudo Valley!

If lady sneasler went back home with Ingo i think eventually she would want to try battling with him. I mean it looks fun, everyone tells her it's a good bonding moment for both trainer and Pokémon and it's a golden opportunity to show off, why not? Who's going to stop her, the pearl clan?
Ingo takes a bit of convincing, out of respect for both her and the traditions of the pearl clan, but he relents eventually. He can't deny he's been wanting to do this as well. After a bit of training they have the time of their life destroying people's (read: Emmet, the elite four, other Frontier Brains and generally just other strong trainers (sorry i didn't include Elesa. I love her very much but she is not on their level methinks 😔. Id love to be proven wrong tho)) teams, with a mix of Ingo's old and new team and her as the ace for once in unregulated matches. (Turns out, noble Pokémon naturally have insane stats and therefore cannot partecipate in league matches or official battles. Ingo has to nerf sneasler/the rest of his team or use less Pokémon as a result, but he loves the challenge. He's thrilled when people defeat him.)
(Emmet takes this as a challenge. As long as his Pokémon are on board, he's building his way up to defeating Ingo when they're not holding back. He gets scarily close every time.)
I ran out of space in the tags but blankshippers dni pls. Let's stay in our respective lanes and not interact

i wonder what kaycee’s warrior cat oc would be… do you think she watches warrior cat content creators?? like moonkitti and such???? i think she worships the entire first arc and the only literature she reads is warrior cats so i feel like she just has all of the books in her possession
anyways sorry for this ask it just appeared in my mind at the mention of kaycee and warrior cats in one place
ill do her some justice and say she has probably mostly outgrown Warriors by the time she was working on Inscryption in her 20's but i could definitely see her being crazy about it when she was younger and be that weird little girl who roleplays as cats all the fucking time fgndfg
i think her catsona would be an edgy as hell all-black cat, like a rogue or a bloodclan cat who is a little evil and murderous and doesnt take any shit
and you kno in her teens she'd work on animations and shit on yt njdfgnjfd
but even grownup kc would probably hold nostalgia for the series and own all the books. the real question is whether or not she could get Leshy into it too
