Reflexiones ilustradas.

Andrea Ucini’s ‘Illustrated moments’ exhibition looked at emotion and expression particularly towards death, dying and loss. Many of his paintings in his exhibition displayed a simplistic, sometimes surreal, still image of dealing with these emotions. To me, I viewed a lot of his paintings as a depiction of loneliness and that was the emotion I empathised with while looking around. Ucini commonly put the main part centre image and left the outer space empty, with minimal detail, allowing all the focus of the viewer to be placed in the foreground. This technique allowed the subject of the painting to have an isolated feel and therefore suggesting sadness and loneliness. I think Ucini was also able to portray these emotions by his muted colour palette of earthy tones and his prominent focus on calming light blue hues. This exhibition made me want to focus more significance on my use of composition and colour palettes in order to pull emotion out of the viewer.
