accident
The morning sun cast a soft glow over the streets of Seattle as Y/N drove to her training session for USWNT. The familiar scent of coffee filled the air, but her mind was focused on the upcoming game and the challenges that lay ahead. As she approached an intersection, the traffic light turned red, forcing her to come to a stop.
Just as the light turned green, Y/N accelerated, her mind still occupied with thoughts of tactics and strategy for the game. The intersection was busy, cars moving in various directions. However, in the blink of an eye, a distracted driver ran a red light, colliding with Y/N's car from the side.
The impact sent Y/N's car spinning, metal crunching against metal. The sudden jolt left her disoriented, the world spinning around her. As the chaos unfolded, she heard the distant wail of sirens, and through the haze, she saw the familiar faces of Maya hopping out of the fire truck and the Station 19 team rushing to the scene before her eyes started to close shut.
Maya takes in the scene,  her eyes fall on the license plate number she has seen dozens of times. Her mind jumps to y/n, who she knows is in Seattle for the game coming up later in the week. The y/n who she and Carina took under their wing after she showed up several times to clinic days. They opened their home for her until she was steady enough to be on her own and when she isn’t with USWNT she is home in the UK playing for Arsenal.
Panic and concern etched across her face, as she sprinted towards Y/N's car. Reaching the damaged vehicle, she instantly saw y/n out cold. Reaching for the door handle, it wouldn’t budge. “Fuck! Guys it’s y/n. We need the jaws of life to remove the door and maybe even windshield for more access.” Travis went to grab it as Warren and Andy came with the med bag as they were on Aid car 19. “Y/n, I’m not sure if you can hear me but I need you to try to open your eyes. It’s Maya. You are going to be okay.”
Maya makes the decision to break the backseat window and enter through there before crawling front to the passenger seat. Andy did the same but remained behind y/n as she helped stabilize her neck with a c-collar after Maya checked for a pulse.
With all the hands touching her, y/n started to stir awake, moaning in pain. “Shhh. Y/n, it’s going to be okay, just try to remain still for us.”
Hearing the familiar voice, y/n turned her head as much as possible with the collar on to the source. “Cap…” She whispered.
“Hey there, kiddo. You took quite a big hit. Andy and I are in the car with you. Can you tell me if you are in pain and where?” Maya scans over y/n as y/n thinks the question through.
“Um. My head is pounding and the light makes it worse. Chest might be bruised… Maya…” y/n’s facial expression changes into a panicked one.
“Y/n, what’s wrong?... Y/n talk to me…”
“...legs… I- I can’t feel my legs. Maya- no no…” Y/n begins to spiral as realization hits her.
“Y/n, I need you to listen to me and breathe. We will figure it out but don’t focus on that right now. I need you to get your breathing under control.”
Warren assisted Travis in preparing the jaws of life while Maya focused on Y/N's immediate needs. Andy opened the med bag, retrieving equipment to monitor vital signs.
"Y/N, I need you to stay with me. Andy's going to monitor your vital signs, and we'll make sure you're as comfortable as possible," Maya explained, her voice a steady presence in the chaos. “Nice deep breaths.”
Andy secured an IV line, administering fluids to address potential shock. Maya continued to assess Y/N's chest and abdomen, searching for any signs of internal injuries.
"Good job, Andy. Let's keep an eye on those vitals. Y/N, I need you to let me know if anything feels off or if the pain increases," Maya directed, her focus unwavering. “Y/n pay attention to me. Eyes on me. We will worry about your legs when we pull you out.”
“Cap, my legs are everything. You know that.”
“I know, Y/n, I promise I know.” Maya is reminded of how soccer saved Y/N life and helped lift her from her rough past.
As Maya reassured Y/N, the situation took a dire turn. A faint hissing sound emerged from beneath the wreckage, followed by the acrid smell of gas. Maya's heart sank as she realized the danger they were in.
"Warren, Travis, we've got a gas leak! We need to get Y/N out of here, now!" Maya's voice cut through the chaos, urgency evident in every word. With adrenaline coursing through their veins, the team intensified their efforts.
Travis and Warren redoubled their efforts with the jaws of life, while Andy swiftly prepared Y/N for extraction, mindful of the looming threat of fire. Maya coordinated the rescue operation with precision, her training kicking in as she assessed the risks and devised a plan.
Suddenly, a spark ignited the volatile atmosphere, and flames erupted, engulfing the front of the car. Time seemed to slow as panic surged through the team. Without hesitation, Maya made a split-second decision.
"Grab Y/N, we're getting her out, now!" Maya commanded, her voice unwavering despite the inferno raging around them. With synchronized movements, Andy and Maya carefully lifted Y/N, their actions swift yet deliberate.
“Stop it-it hurts! Maya, stop!” Y/n screamed and cried as her body was hastily carried out of the vehicle.
“I’m sorry, Y/n but we need to leave now!” Maya screamed over the chaos. As they lifted y/n out and placed her on the stretcher, they ran as Vic and Jack foamed over the gas leak.
“Leah… I was on a call with Leah before.” Y/n suddenly remembered having her girlfriend on the other end of the line before the crash.
“Don’t worry, I will call her, right now.” Maya climbed into the back of the ambulance, her eyes never leaving Y/N. "You're doing great, Y/N. We're right here with you," she said, her voice filled with reassurance.
Andy followed suit, bringing the medical bag and equipment into the confined space of the ambulance. Y/N's eyes darted between Maya and Andy, seeking comfort in their familiar faces amidst the uncertainty.
“Speaking of the devil, Leah is facetiming me.” Maya says unlocking her phone but as the ambulance doors closed, Y/N's panic resurfaces. The confined space and the realization of the severity of the situation weighed heavily on her. "Maya, I can't... I can't breathe. It's too much," Y/N gasped, her chest rising and falling rapidly.
Maya quickly grabbed an oxygen mask from the medical bag. "Y/N, slow your breathing. This will help," she said, placing the mask gently over Y/N's face. "Deep breaths. In and out."
“What’s happening? Maya what happened to Y/n?!” Leah yelled through the phone panicked by Y/n’s panic.
“Y/n look who I have on the phone, wanting to see you.” Maya tries to distract the woman in front of her. Y/n pauses for a second to see her blurred girlfriend on the screen.
“Baby, you’re going to be okay, Maya is with you and I am sure Carina will meet you in the hospital. I’ll be on the next plane over.” Leah reassured y/n.
“Leahhh,” Y/n cried. “I can’t - can’t feel my legs. I’m so scared.” Leah pauses and a panic look crosses over her eye but she tries to remain as calm as possible.
“Wait until the doctor’s check you out, it could just be from slight inflammation. Just focus on what Maya says. She is with you and looks like Andy is there too. You are gonna be fine, baby just remain calm.”
“Leah, we are pulling into the ambulance bay in a minute so I am going to hang up and get her sorted for the medical staff. I’ll call you back as soon as I can.” Maya tells Leah knowing how protective she is of her girlfriend. With that Leah gives another word of love to Y/n before canceling the call.
“I texted Carina as well, I am not sure if she’s in surgery or not but she’ll come to find us once she sees it.” Maya informs y/n knowing she is able to calm down more when Carina is around. “We are almost there, but it’s going to get chaotic. Just breathe, it’ll be alright.”
The ambulance pulls up and doors open to reveal Amelia, Bailey, Kepner, Teddy, and Carina.
“What do we have?” Bailey starts.
“23 year old female in a MVC, airbags deployed, head laceration, possible spinal injury, she says she can’t feel her legs. C-spine precaution taken. Y/n had two panic attacks already and is in pain but no pain meds given as unknown head trauma...” Andy trails off.
“Alright, trauma 2.”
Y/n is rolled in as everyone takes on a role and several hands are trying to assess her injuries to the full extent. Y/n takes her deep breaths as she reminds herself they are here to help her.
In the entrance of the room Maya whispers to Carina, “Carina, she said she can’t feel her legs. I tried to stay calm for her but it’s never good. She was freaking out…”
A loud groan of pain takes them out of their moment as they see they have turned y/n on her side to check her back before placing her back down. Amelia does a head work up and then moves down to y/n’s legs. Carina steps closer to y/n for support as Amelia asks her if she can feel her touching her feet.
“I can’t feel it.” Amelia moves up the leg and to the knee. “Nothing.” Amelia moves mid-thigh. “I barely feel that.”
“Okay, don’t worry, we will get a CT scan and check you out. Might just be inflammation on the spine that will go away.” Amelia reassured the girl Carina took under her wing.
“And what if it doesn’t,” Y/n asks the question she knows the answer to.
“Let’s see what the scans say and we will take it from there.” Amelia places her hand on Y/n’s hand but she pulls away.
“I’m going to be sick.” With that, y/n turns her body as much as possible and only dry heaves.
“Bambina, you are stressing yourself out. I know you are worried about playing soccer, hell even walking but one thing at a time. You can’t think of what ifs. I am here now. I will make sure things are in order. Maya and I will be there for you every step of the way. I am going to need you to practice the breathing exercises. I don’t want them to sedate you but if your panic gets in the way…”
“No, no I promise.” Y/n cuts her off and closes her eyes trying to regulate her breathing. The team talks to her about the next steps of imaging and makes her a priority case.

Joining station 19 and immediately connecting with everyone. You and Andy fall for each other hard and right before you two are going to confess the station gets a bad call where you get badly injured. You need blood so everyone gets tested to see if they are a match. Jack Gibson is and the doctor figures out that you and Jack are twins. Everyone is shocked. Especially Andy. Falling for your ex's long-lost twin sister is crazy. She ends up distancing herself away from the reader who gets hurt and confused. Maya can tell she is hurting herself while doing this. So she tells Andy that if she really cares about the reader then she shouldn't care that her and Jack are twins. Andy goes to the reader and explains herself. Then the two get together. Fluffy and angsty please?

Authors note: Very long story for my standards, and not proofread. I apologize if there are any grammatical errors! ♥
ᕚ---ᕘ
You slowly walked through the open gates of Station 19, your gaze focused, but a friendly smile played on your lips. The fire station, which was full of hectic activity, seemed to pause for a heartbeat at that moment as the eyes of everyone present were focused on you, who walked in with a confident step.
The new members of the team had seen many new faces come and go, but there was something about you that caught everyone's attention. Captain Bishop stepped forward first, offering you her hand with a gentle smile. "Welcome to Station 19, y/l/n. We're glad to have you here."
You shook her hand firmly and nodded happily before pulling away from her and looked around your new workplace. "Thank you, Captain. I'm excited to be a part of this team."
Maya gave you a little tour and led you through the station, introducing you to the other firefighters. The welcome was immediately warm, but when you met Andy Herrera you felt a special connection. Andy, the experienced lieutenant, looked directly at you and for a moment the world seemed to stand still for both of you. "Y/n, right? Nice to meet you."
"Yeah, exactly. And you're Andy, right?" you asked and she nodded at you, taking the friendly route to your new locker. It didn't take long for you to get along with everyone. You showed the team respect for their experience and knowledge of firefighting and impressed your new colleagues with your skills.
Over the next few weeks you became an integral part of the team. During the exercises you showed the full extent of your abilities, but what impressed the others was your dedication and your ability to keep a clear head in stressful situations. Your positive attitude and the way you interacted with those affected by fires infected everyone, and it seemed as if you had been a part of the station for years.
A close bond developed especially between Andy and you. You understood each other on a deeper level than words could express. The looks you exchanged spoke volumes, and it was as if you had found a common language that only existed between you.
In the quieter moments, you often found yourself near the emergency vehicle, deep in conversation. About your past, about your dreams and the challenge of the fire service. But despite the obvious and ever-growing attraction between you, neither dared to speak the words that were hiding in your hearts.
One evening, after a long mission, you sat on the edge of the station and looked out at the city at night. The silence between you was comfortable but also tense while the atmosphere between you was charged. “Y/n, can I ask you something?” She asked into the quiet, catching your eyes as you looked down at her from the city lights, lost in thought. You both tried to understand your own burgeoning feelings and put them into words. "Of course. Ask me anything you want."
Andy struggled with her words, not knowing how she wanted to express her feelings, and just as she was about to say a word and break the silence, she was interrupted by a loud alarm that echoed through the station. Everyone immediately jumped up when the emergency call went out.
"There's a major fire downtown! All hands on deck!" Maya Bishop shouted, the words piercing the air as the station filled with frantic activity. The Latina's confession was suddenly shattered by the reality of fire service. Without another word, you grabbed your gear and ran to the emergency vehicle.
The journey to the fire site passed in hurried silence. The sirens wailed as the images of the burning building grew closer and closer. When the emergency vehicle arrived on the scene, smoke billowed into the air and flames leaped wildly into the darkness. "Y/l/n, Herrera! You are responsible for floors 8-12. Clear the apartments!"
You quickly rushed into the burning building, working hand in hand and coordinating your actions while handing over your stay and condition to the team. The intensive cooperation and trust that had developed between you at the station was now put to the test. But it was precisely in this extreme situation that you found a remarkable synchronicity.
In the middle of the mission, as you tried to save lives and control the fire, Andy and you briefly looked into each other's eyes. At that moment, the flames around you seemed to disappear and time slowed down. It was like your emotions were about to explode in that intense moment. "Andy, there's something I really need to tell you."
"Later, y/n. Let's finish this first." the Latina's words were drowned out by a sudden, loud crash as part of the 10th floor structure collapsed. The floor was flooded with a blinding wave of heat, while screams and the crackling of the ravines merged into a deafening carpet of sound.
You jumped towards Andy to save her from the burning column of rubble that was rushing towards her amidst the chaos. But the heat wave hit you and you were thrown to the ground. Andy saw the scene in horror and picked herself up from the ground before immediately rushing to you. "Y/n! Can you hear me?!"
You could only nod weakly as deep pain pulsed through your body. "Captain, y/n is injured! I need medical attention immediately!" she shouted through the intercom, waiting as other colleagues arrived to fight the fire and rescue you from the rubble.
Your thoughts were heavily clouded by the stabbing pain, but in the midst of the agony and struggle with unconsciousness, you felt Andy holding your hand. "You'll get through this, you hear me? Stay with me!"
While Hughes and Warren took care of you and got you out, the fire was gradually brought under control by Andy, Gibson and Travis. But the emotional flames between Andy and you were brought to a new level by this dramatic incident in which you tried to save her life. The fire in the Latina's heart now burned not only with desire, but also with worry and the desire to be by your side forever.
ᕚ---ᕘ
The bright lights in the hospital waiting room were tense. Your entire team waited with worried faces for news about your health. The quiet hum of the lights and the muffled murmur of other waiting patients filling the room. "What's taking so damn long?!" fumed Andy, who was driven crazy by the long gap in knowledge without any further information about you.
Unbeknownst to them, your situation worsened when you were now lying awake in the examination room and had found out about the need for a blood transfusion when Doctor Meredith Gray determined through all the tests that you urgently needed a blood transfusion.
It was only when Meredith approached the group with a thin smile and wanted to share the news with them that Andy was able to breathe a sigh of relief, but her eyes were still filled with worry. "What's wrong with her? Will she be okay?" Victoria asked immediately, even before the blonde had fully entered the waiting room. "She was lucky in misfortune. A few broken ribs, injuries to her leg, but nothing that she can't overcome. However, she lost a lot of blood and therefore needs a blood transfusion."
The doctor's words echoed through the room and an unpleasant tension settled over those present, but after a brief period of shock, each of the firefighters volunteered to be tested for you.
After a good three quarters of an hour and a thorough examination of the seven samples, the surprising news came that was to give everyone another shocking piece of news that evening. This information would stick with Andy in particular for a long time. "I'm sorry, Lieutenant Herrera, but your blood is not compatible."
The confusion on her face was palpable, as she fervently hoped that she could save your life like you had done for her. Disappointment was reflected in her eyes, the uncertainty about what would happen next hung heavily in the air. "What? That can't be right. I have to be compatible. Test it again!"
"We've already tested it and there's no match. It looks like Jack has the right blood type, though," a brief moment of silence followed as Meredith fiddled with her tablet to double-check. that she recited the correct bullet points that she had discovered. "A genetic hit, even. You can donate immediately."
Shocked looks passed between each team member and Jack as the realization of the family connection sank in and he nodded without hesitation and made himself available. Andy's gaze lingered on him longer than usual, her brow furrowed as she bit her lip and folded her arms under her chest. The doctor's words struck her like a thunderclap, shattering her reality. "Both of you...siblings? That's impossible!"
"It seems so, Andy. Genetic testing seems to have confirmed it. I didn't know myself." Gibson spoke cautiously, the only one knowing that the Latina had had feelings for you for weeks. The revelation left a bitter taste in the air between Andy and Jack. The confusion in her eyes betrayed not only the surprise at the unexpected family connection, but also the fact that Jack Gibson, a former ex of hers, was now identified as your brother. The silence was broken by a heavy sigh as Andy voiced her thoughts. "That can't be right. You and me, we were..."
Jack interrupted immediately, holding his hands to his chest in a calming gesture. "Andy, I didn't know. I swear. But now we're all here to help y/n. We can sort this out later."
You could feel the tension between them both, and the situation suddenly became much more complicated in Andy's eyes than ever before. Andy's thoughts about her feelings for you were overshadowed by the newfound sibling relationship. The feeling of uncertainty spread through her and she didn't know how to deal with this unexpected turn of events.
The dynamics within the team had changed, and the revelation of familial ties not only upset blood relationships, but also brought with it a flood of emotions that were difficult for Andy to handle as Jack was prepared for the blood transfusion and the other firefighters remained in the waiting room, their minds still dominated by the surprising information.
During the transfusion, Andy continued to sit in the waiting room, her eyes wandering between hope and worry. She couldn't ignore the sudden siblinghood and felt that something had fundamentally changed in her life. It set off a chain reaction of emotions that were difficult to process.
After the successful transfusion, Jack entered the waiting room again and the eyes of the others turned to him. "How did it go? Were you able to donate the blood she needed?"
The young man just nodded tiredly and sat down on one of the chairs next to Maya. She gave him a gentle tap on the shoulder, expressing her gratitude for the help and support. "Y/n is stable. The transfusion went well. She will be fine."
A sigh of relief filled the room, but the tension remained. Andy, still torn between emotions and uncertainty, didn't know how to deal with the new reality and you in general. Your hospital stay had revealed not only physical wounds, but also emotional ones that had developed between both of you.
ᕚ---ᕘ
In the days and weeks that followed this revelation, you felt a noticeable change in Andy's behavior towards you as you returned to duty. The usual closeness and familiarity between you seemed to have been broken by an invisible barrier and you didn't quite understand why. The Latina avoided long conversations and your gaze as if she was looking for distance.
You tried to understand the change, but every attempt to talk to Andy about it was met with a cool reserve. Even the small gestures of connection you had previously shared seemed to fade. You could see a look of confusion and uncertainty in Andy's eyes every time she looked at you.
One day you couldn't take it anymore and confronted her, blurting out your emotional distress. "Andy, can you finally fucking talk to me? I don't even know what your freaking problem is. You've been so incredibly distant to me since I was in the hospital and I don't understand why!"
Andy froze when she heard your vulgar pronunciation for the first time and hesitated in her answer for a moment before lowering her gaze. She had to find an excuse. Some excuse that didn't involve her feelings for you. "Everything is so messed up right now! And it has nothing to do with you, but with me."
"That's what they all always say, and basically it has something to do with you. You know what? If you don't want to talk, fine. Then leave it like that and drag our friendship through the mud!" You spat and Andy sighed as she took a step back, even though she just wanted to be close to you. "I'm sorry, y/n, but it's all just too much right now. I need time alone to process some things."
You could see the clear pain in her eyes. Your words left a painful chasm between you that you couldn't ignore. The situation crumbled the delicate structure of your relationship and your attempt to save your connection through another conversation had failed hopelessly.
With a heavy heart, you accepted her answer and disappeared from her surroundings, completely ignoring her from now on. In the time that followed, the distance between you both grew even greater, and the uncertainty put a strain on your work together as partners.
While the Latina tried to process the complexity of the situation, you were left alone with your physical and emotional injuries.
That same evening, after a tiring day on Station 19, where she saw you in every corner of her existence and her heart ached, the brunette looked for some distraction in a nearby bar. The dim lighting and quiet murmurs of the guests created a relaxed atmosphere that helped her sort out her inner turmoil. She sat at the bar all alone, her gaze absently fixated on the glass of whiskey in front of her.
The captain, Maya Bishop, also entered the bar with Carina, and immediately noticed the thoughtful expression on her best friend's face. The bad mood taking over her aura. They ran straight up to her and sat down next to her, the Italian woman already ordering their drinks for the two of them. "Hey, Andy. Are you okay? Where's y/n?"
Andy looked up, a shadow of uncertainty and sadness in her eyes, as the light of the bar began to glitter in her moist eyes. "Hey, Maya. It's... complicated."
The blonde nodded in understanding, sipped the beer she had just received and leaned on the bar before she revealed her observations of the last few days. "I've noticed you've been withdrawing from her lately. Are you still worried about the sibling thing?"
She hesitated for a moment before nodding slightly. Maya gently placing a hand on her upper arm. "Andy, I can see that you're both really upset about what's happening between you right now. But you can't just cut ties with y/n just because Jack is her brother."
She hummed, took a long sip from her glass, and looked thoughtfully at the wall. "I don't know how to deal with it. It's all so complicated.
"I understand that this is all complicated. But don't you think you're hurting yourself by distancing yourself from her? You both have something special and it would be a shame to give that up because of external circumstances."
"But Maya, they're siblings. That's just too much." Andy sighed again, her thoughts seeming to race before her eyes and mine seemed to see a hint of understanding in them. "Yes, it's unusual and complicated. But if you really want to fight for yourself and your connection, you shouldn't let something like this stop you. You love her, that's clearly out of the question. That's what matters ."
Andy's gaze shifted to her best friend as she took in her words. A moment of silence followed before the Latina finally realized the truth. "You're right, Maya. I shouldn't let these circumstances destroy what is between us."
Maya smiled encouragingly and picked up her bottle. A gentle smile also appeared on the brunette's lips and she also pulled out her glass before drinking it down. "I'll get her back. This evening!"
"Exactly, fight for what's important to you. And if you really love her, then don't let something as unimportant as this sister/brother thing destroy that."
The two women sat in silence with Carina for a while, Andy's thoughts swirling around as the bar around them filled with buzz and laughter. In that moment, she began to realize that perhaps it was time to overcome her own doubts and fight for what her heart truly desired.
ᕚ---ᕘ
Night had fallen over the city when Andy stood in front of your apartment building. The night enveloped the streets in an impenetrable darkness as a light rain began to bathe them in a shiny pattern. Maya's words had touched a chord within her, and the urge to find clarity in all the chaos drove her to take the step.
She stormed across the street with hasty steps, the rain lashing against her skin and the cold breeze emphasizing her fear of what she was about to say. Her heart pounded against her chest as she entered the building and climbed the stairs to your apartment. A nervous tingle ran through her limbs as she stood in front of the door. She took a deep breath before tapping her shaking hands vigorously against the wood.
After a moment of listening intently to the footsteps coming from the apartment, you opened the door, surprised to see Andy in this upset state. Your eyes met and the tension between you was palpable. "What are you doing here so late at night?"
"Can I come in?" She asked, completely ignoring your question. You nodded and opened the door wider, your forehead furrowed slightly. She entered the apartment, her soaking wet hair dripping all over the floor while the silence enveloped you like an invisible veil with unsaid words. "Y/n, I.. I can't carry this around any longer. I need to explain something to you."
You sensed the seriousness in her voice and nodded, leading her into your small but cozy apartment. "What's wrong? Did something happen to you on the way here?"
Andy hesitated for a moment before taking a deep breath and saying the words that were trapped inside her. "I've distanced myself from you and I know it hurt you a lot. I was afraid of the whole sibling thing and it confused me about Jack being your brother and our past. But Maya opened my eyes. I can't just let this ruin everything between us."
You listened intently, shifting your gaze from the floor to watching her. Her expression was a mix of confusion and hope. "I felt it and it hurt me deeply not knowing what was going on. The distance in particular was... intense."
"I'm sorry, I really am. But now I'm here to make it right." There was a moment of silence between you before she locked her gaze back into yours. Andy took a deep breath and walked towards you, placing her hand gently on your cheek. "Y/n, I can't hide this any longer. I love you. No matter what happened between us or who our relatives are, I can't deny how I feel for you."
You looked at her and in that moment the insecurities and fears seemed to fade away. Feeling a pang of surprise in your chest, a warm feeling of joy followed and a smile crossed your face. A glimmer of tears glistened in your eyes as her words hung in the air.
"Andy, I love you too. And no matter what life has in store for us, I want to try and share it with you."
The words barely had time to sink in before your lips met in a passionate kiss. A flood of emotions flowed through you as you finally found each other - the uncertainty gave way to the certainty that your love was stronger than any external influence or challenge. The tensions of the past few weeks melted away.
Your apartment seemed to fill with the intensity of your feelings and a hint of romance and warmth. The world around you melted into a blurry background. In that moment you had found what you were looking for. As the night progressed, you stepped hand in hand into a future together, ready to face any challenge and nurture the love that was stronger than any insecurities. You two had found something special in each other.

Dating Andy Herrera Would Include...
Tumblr media
Requested by anon: Dating Andy Herrera (and being from station 19) would include please?
Andy had a crush on you the day you joined Station 19
She'll always want to "help" you with things, even though you tell her it's okay
When asked by the team if she liked you, Andy pretty much yelled "no" while blushing
Maya flicked a piece of egg at her and told her to boil it on her forehead whenever you came back around
She'll show up at your apartment after a particularly tough case to make sure you're doing okay
You tease her by asking if she shows up to everybody's home to just "check up on them"
She'll start stuttering and choking on her tongue before you let her in
One visit turns into spending time with each other after work a couple of nights per week
Andy is very big on taking care of you and always wants to lay her head on your lap whenever you're watching TV together
Always touching you so she can calm down a little bit
Taking turns cooking for each other
Everyone thinks you're a cute couple, and will whistle every time you walk in the station together
Every time you kiss her on the cheek she blushes and starts stuttering

Looking around the downstairs of the firehouse, Y/N has an impressed look on her face as she nods. “Your girlfriend is the captain of this place?” She peeks into the barn where the firetrucks are located, letting out a small ooh sound.
“Yes.” Carina laughs, her brows raised as she stares at her younger sister. “You like it?”
“Yeah, it’s cool.” She shrugs, trying to seem nonchalant, but Carina knows her sister.
Grabbing her arm, Carina starts leading her upstairs. “Let’s go, they’re cooking dinner and we’re joining them.”
Y/N gasps. “Is this one of those situations where your girlfriend tries to make a good impression on me, because you won’t date someone who doesn’t get along with me?” The words come out quickly, at times stumbling over them.
“No.”
“It totally is.”
With a sigh, Carina rolls her eyes. It is that kind of situation. She just doesn’t want to feed Y/N’s ego by letting her know how valuable her opinion is to her. But she knows.
When they walk into the kitchen, Y/N notices Carina’s girlfriend stiffing a pot, having seen a picture of her, but she isn’t the one who takes her attention. A brunette setting the table is. It’s like she can’t take her eyes off of her.
“Carina!” Maya exclaims when she notices them. “You’re here early.” She turns off the stove and walks over to the two, wiping her palms to her pants first.
“Our shift ended early.” Carina kisses her before pulling her near Y/N. “This is Y/N, my sister. This is Maya, my girlfriend.”
“Hi!” Smiling, Y/N shakes Maya’s hand. “Nice to finally meet the famous Captain Maya Bishop. Carina talks about you all the time. Maya is so hot. Maya is so muscular. Look at this picture of h-”
“Y/N!” Carina slaps the back of her head. Giggling, she steps away from Carina’s reach, rubbing the spot she got slapped on. “Behave.”
She rolls her eyes. Maya looks between the two, not sure how she should react to the two sisters. “Uh, it’s great to meet you too.” She points behind her, where the rest of the team is, introducing everyone to Y/N. They all wave and smile, saying their his, but Andy walks up to them.
“Hi!” She shakes Y/N’s hand. “You’re doctor too?” Andy looks at the white doctor’s coat she is wearing.
“Yes, I didn’t want to be the family disappointment by not becoming a doctor.” Carina glares at her, but Y/N ignores her. “I’m in general.”
“Awesome.”
The two stand a little bit too close to each other for someone who just met each other, but the others pay no mind to it. They just finish cooking the food and gather around the table, immeasurable bombarding Y/N with questions.
She answers to them to the best of her ability, though most of her attention is on Andy.
Humming quietly to herself, Y/N looks through the patient files on the tablet. She keeps glancing at her phone, frowning when there’s no new notifications. Her and Andy have been texting nonstop ever since they met, but now, Andy hasn’t answered to her in hours. Usually it doesn’t take her that long even if she’s working.
With a sigh, Y/N pockets her phone and sets the tablet down to a table. She has a surgery in half an hour, but until then there’s really nothing to do.
“Y/N!”
She turns towards the sound, her brows furrowing once she notices Andy walking towards her. “What are you doing here?” She meets her halfway. “Did something happen?”
“There was an accident during a call, but I-“
“Are you okay?” Y/N’s eyes start going up and down Andy’s body, looking for any significant injuries. She has a bandaid near her eye, but nothing else catches her attention.
“I’m okay. I wanted to see y-“
Y/N interrupts her once again, “are you sure? Did you already see someone? I can page someone over.” She takes out her pager, but Andy grabs her hands.
“Y/N, I’m okay. I wanted to see you, because I need to tell you something.” Nodding, Y/N stays quiet, giving her the space to talk. “I have feelings for you,” she starts, her voice quieter now, “and I would really like to take you out on a date.”
A big smile appears on Y/N’s face. “That’d be nice.”
“Okay, great.” Andy nods, smiling too. They look like two lovesick fools in the middle of the hospital hallway. “I’ll pick you up today at eight?” She raises one of her brows. “Wear something casual.”
“Got it.” Grabbing the tablet again, Y/N starts backing up slowly. “I have a surgery to go to, but I’ll see you today.”
Andy waves with a grin before walking away, feeling victorious.
Knocking on the door frame, Y/N walks into the locker room. “Hi, mi cara.” She smiles when Andy turns around.
“Hey,” she walks over to her and grabs her hand, pulling her deeper into the room to kiss her, “I am so happy to see you here.” Andy grins, moving them towards the rest room.
Y/N giggles. “I’m happy to be here,” she kicks the door closed once they’re inside the room, “the others have already gone home?”
“Yeah,” she kisses her, “we have all the time we need.” Pulling away momentarily, Andy pulls the doctor’s coat off of Y/N. “You look incredibly hot in your scrubs.” She eyes her body up and down.
“Even when I’m all hot and sweaty?”
“Even then.”
Rolling her eyes, Y/N pushes Andy to sit down on the bed before getting on top of her, draping her arms over her shoulders. “You look very hot in your work clothes too.” She mumbles, going back to kissing her.
Andy grabs the sides of her waist so she wouldn’t fall. Y/N’s hands are about to go down to the hem of Andy’s shirt, but the sound of the door opening interrupts them.
“Y/N?”
Their heads snap towards the now open door, where Maya and Carina are standing, both shocked to see them together.
“Carina!” Y/N struggles to get up from Andy’s lap. “What- what are you doing here?” Andy stands up as well, her eyes wide. Truth to be told, she’s kind of scared of the Italian, especially now that she walked in on them making out.
“What am I doing here? What are you doing?” Her hands start moving in the air. “Since when have you two been together?”
They glance at each other. “Like, six months.”
“Wh-“ Carina groans, throwing her hands in the air while mumbling in Italian, which makes Y/N scrunch up her face. “Six months and you didn’t think to tell me?”
Y/N shrugs, “sorry, there was never really a right time, so, you know,” she glances at Andy, trying to come up with some kind of explanation, “it just never came up.”
Carina has her arms crossed over her chest and her face is in a deadpan look. Maya has a tightlipped smile on her face, “well, I’m happy for you two.” She turns to look at Carina, her brows raised.
With a sigh, Carina walks over to hug Y/N and Andy. “I’m happy too, but you are supposed to tell me things.” She points at Y/N once she has backed away from them, giving Maya room to hug them both.
“I’m not ten anymore.” Y/N smiles, holding Andy’s hand.
“You’re still younger.”
She sighs, but nods, there’s no use to fighting Carina. “We were about to go out to eat, do you want to join us? Or did we interrupt something?” Maya smirks, looking at the jacket still laying on the ground.
“Maya!” Carina looks at her with wide eyes. “That’s my sister.”
“Oh, shut up, you had a study on orgasms.” Y/N picks up her jacket and puts it on. “We’ll join you, but I think we have to change first.” She looks at Maya and Carina’s nice, fancy clothes before turning to her and Andy’s work clothes that they’re still wearing.
“We’ll wait for you in the car,” Maya states while they step out of the room, “don’t take too long!” The door closes.
Andy turns to Y/N. “That’s one way for them to find out.” Laughing, she grabs Y/N’s hips. “I’m guessing you’re borrowing some of my clothes?” She mumbles and smiles when Y/N nods. “I love to see you in my clothes.”
“Don’t start anything now.” Y/N raises her brows, pulling away from Andy to go to her locker and grab some of her extra clothes from there.
“After dinner?”
“Definitely.” She kisses Andy and winks at her, before going to the bathroom to change her clothes, leaving Andy to the locker room with a grin.

Secret relationship with Andy Herrera. 5 times you almost get caught, and the one time you do? Please? I love Andy so much!!
yesss! i love andy soooo much too. with a shy reader because why not?
eight months
1.
When the two of you first started dating you were always in the kitchen for some reason. You’d cook each other breakfast, as well as enough for the rest of the team when they came in so it didn’t look too suspicious.
The two of you would both come in early. It was something the both of you had a habit of doing even before you started dating.
It was actually how you became so close and when you had your first kiss.
Once you started dating, the two of you would come into the kitchen and hangout. You’d talk and make breakfast, just spend time together.
But the first time you almost got caught the two of you were eating together at the table.
“This is really good Andy,” You licked your lips, pulling in any left over cinnamon from the french toast Andy had just made.
“Thanks,” Andy smiled.
She’d been done eating minutes before you, and was watching you eat at this point. Not in a creepy way, but in an admirable way. Like she couldn’t believe you were hers.
“I made it because I know it’s your favorite,” The firefighter rested her elbow on the table with her chin placed in the palm of her hand.
Your lips curved into a half smile as you finished your last bite of breakfast.
You turned yourself in your seat—you’d always been clingy towards people. It was how you showed your love, even though you were shy—and you pulled Andy’s chair closer.
“Alright,” Andy chuckled as you pulled on the chair. “before you get too comfortable let’s at least take care of these first.”
Andy took both of your plates, rinsed them off in the sink for whoever was on dish duty tonight, and made her way back to you.
“Now, you can be as clingy as you want,” Andy moved impossibly closer to you.
You placed your feet on the rungs of the chair Andy was sitting in. It was the only way closer to her without actually sitting on top of her, and that was another risk all in itself— but it was one Andy was willing to take.
“Come up here,” Andy jerked her head and you became shy all of the sudden. You dipped your head into her neck and that made Andy shake her head with a chuckle. “Don’t be shy now, sweetheart.”
She lifts your chin and pulls you in for a soft kiss, pulling away after a second to look into your eyes.
Andy may have pulled you in for more if the sound of laughter and footsteps coming down the hall into the kitchen hadn’t made way.
Andy gives you a kiss on the cheek as you scramble off her lap and onto your own chair. You scoot the chair over a few feet to make it look like two friends just had breakfast.
“Hey.. guys?” Victoria looked at you with a frown and you really thought you’d gotten caught right then and there. “Aw man, you guys already ate? Again?”
“I swear,” Maya shook her head. “You guys get here at like four am. And I thought I was an overachiever.”
“What can I say?” You put your hands up, trying not to sound suspicious.
2.
On the next occasion, a few months later, you and Andy were laying in a bed together in one of the rooms at the station.
For some ungodly reason, the two of you were on your monthly 48 hour shift, and you were catching some sleep before the next call.
Well, you weren’t actually sleeping, as much as cuddling and talking before dozing off for the night.
“You know, maybe we could go on a real date soon,” Andy suggested. “There’s an amazing restaurant I want to take you to.”
“But?” You sensed something.
“But we might run into someone we know,” Andy sighed.
“Maybe we should just tell them,” You suggested back, tilting your head towards Andy.
“Not yet,” Andy shook her head slightly. “I like having you all to myself right now.”
“I like being all yours but.. I have to admit it would be nice to go out with you,” You smiled shyly.
“Well, we can just risk it,” Andy smirked excitedly. “Yes. It’s settled. We’ll go after our shift.”
“You didn’t even ask if I wanted to go!” You threw your head back. “And I will at least need to sleep a few hours after our shift before I go anywhere. And how nice is this place?”
Andy was about to reply when the door swung open and you launched yourself out of the bed.
Travis stumbled in half asleep, “Why are you on the floor?”
“Um…” You tried to think of a good reason but then Travis stumbled into a bed on the other side of the room.
“It’s not the weirdest thing I’ve seen tonight,” Travis mumbled, already half asleep.
“That’s was close,” Andy said once she was sure Travis was asleep.
“Yes. It was,” You lift yourself up off the floor and lay in one of the other beds. “That hurt.”
You laughed along with your girlfriend, wishing Travis hadn’t walked in. It was probably for the better, because if it had been a few more minutes the two of you probably would have fallen asleep in the bed together, and that would’ve risen more concerns in itself.
“We can take a nap before we go,” Andy said after a minute of silence. “At our place, and I’ll help you pick something to wear. But if you don’t want to go, we can stay in—“
“No. I would never turn down seeing you in a dress,” You joked. “And I’d go just about anywhere with you, so..”
“Is that so?”
“Yeah,” You said as you stared at the ceiling, Travis’ snores lulling you to sleep.
3.
And so Andy did take you out alright.
You were living together by now, and were still, somehow, a secret to the station. She picked out a beautiful dress for you—of your favorite color—and a light green dress for herself. Slivers of skin peeking out of the dress at her sides.
She took you out to a nice Italian restaurant on the other side of the city; hopes of not running into anyone there.
It’d been going pretty well for the moment.
Andy had her elbow on the table again, her chin resting in the palm of her hand while she lovingly gazed at you. It was something she’d come to do around you, and you got giddy at it every time.
“Thank you for taking me out,” You tilt your head to the side. “But I am helping you pay.”
Andy rolls her eyes, “I figured as much.”
You chuckle.
The food came quickly after that, and you were just about to order dessert when you saw Carina and Maya make their way in.
You clench your jaw and said, “Maya and Carina are here. We should probably pay and get out of here before they see us.”
“I already paid,” Andy looks away from you guiltily as she takes a sip of her wine.
“Andrea!” You smack her arm.
“What?” Andy shrugs. “I was taking you out. Not the other way around. It’s only fair if I pay.”
“But— but—“ You sputter as Andy stands up and takes your hand, leading the both of you out of the restaurant. “You were just going to let me think I helped you pay?”
“Maybe,” Andy surveys your face, which gets redder but the second when Andy backs you up against the passenger side door. “Or maybe..”
Your breath hitches as Andy pushes your hair back and lowers her lips to your ear, “You can just pay for desert.”
Your cheeks are hot, and Andy smirks at your newfound weakness.
She opens the door for you and waits for you to sit in the seat before shutting the door and making her way to the drivers side.
4.
For your birthday you decided you wanted to just have a little get together and your—and Andy’s (although no one knew it was hers too)—apartment.
You were never one for big parties, and you didn’t really have any friends outside of the station. So you decided this would fine.
Everyone decided they’d all just bring something, that way there was plenty to eat.
The day before during dinner Maya, your best friend, had brought it up. You’d invited them to come over weeks in advance, because you knew how the firefighters liked to make plans.
You told them you were just going to order takeout and you could watch a few movies, maybe drink some beer.
But Victoria didn’t like that one bit. She complained and decided she’d bring a cake—whether it was one she made herself, or not, you’d never know—and everyone agreed with her, deciding on what they’d bring or make.
Andy ‘arrived’ first. She’d brought some fruit and vegetables, mostly just because she knew no one else would and that you’d be eating random unhealthy food for the rest of the night, so she figured it wouldn’t hurt if you had some healthy food to pick at.
“Hey gorgeous,” You beamed as she placed the trays on the counter in your kitchen.
“Gorgeous?” Andy smiles at the new nickname. “I should be calling you gorgeous. Look at you.”
You tip your chin downward, growing slightly shy at Andy’s words.
“I’m serious! Look at you,” Andy grabbed both your hands and spun you around, dipping you down as if the two of you had been dancing.
The hand Andy had on your back, holding you up, soothingly caresses your hip as she leans in for a searing hot kiss.
You moaned as Andy lifted you up while she bit your lip. She led you towards the couch, climbing on top of you.
Andy pulls down your shirt a few inches and leaves a mark on a patch of skin that is assured to be hidden by your shirt.
For once, you’re glad the front door to your apartment is located in the kitchen.
“We’re here,” Victoria sings from the kitchen, everyone filing in.
“Every time,” You shake your head, your hands resting on Andy’s hips.
“That’s not true,” Andy’s curly hair falling around her face. “Last night—“
You push her off your lap with a shy expression.
“Happy Birthday, beautiful.”
5.
It was nearing the ends of your shifts, and you and Andy planned to catch dinner and a movie afterward, so you decided to take a shower at the station— together.
Andy figured it would be safe because everyone else was heading out to the bar, and had asked if you or Andy wanted to come, but both of you denied.
Andy attacked your lips, her hands wrapping around the sides of your neck, her thumbs resting under your jawline to hold your head up.
You ran a hand through her hair while the other ran down her side.
“Mm,” You leaned your head back, your girlfriend’s assaults moving onto your neck. “We should get washed—“
“Shh,” Andy pressed her finger to your mouth.
“But—“
“My love,” Andy laughed. “We have time, I promise. We will make our movie—“
“Y/n?” Maya opened the door to the shower room. “Are you in here?”
You pushed Andy down and peek your head out of the shower, holding the curtain in place as not to flash yourself to Maya.
“What?” You asked a little rudely.
“Do you work tomorrow?” Maya asked with an antsy demeanor.
“No,” Your face softened.
Her wedding with Carina was coming up and you and Andy were both going to be her bridesmaids. You knew she was freaking out since it was so close.
“Well I need help finding something to wear and we still need to— to do a bunch of stuff—“ Maya paced the steamed up room.
“I got you, okay? Get me a list and me and whoever else is off tomorrow will take care of it. Okay?”
“Yeah, okay. Yeah,” Maya nodded. “You’re a lifesaver. Are you sure you don’t want to come tonight?”
“Yes! I am sure.”
+1
Maya and Carina’s wedding came faster than the two of you—you and Andy—could have noticed.
You’d been running around like a crazy person trying to figure out everything and anything for Maya, that way she wasn’t so stressed.
You made sure that the flowers, the catering, the guests, anything else imaginable, was in place for your best friends wedding.
The to-be-married couple requested that the two of you wore red dresses. Victoria and Ben were also told the bridesmaids dress code (Ben wore a red tie because Maya said she would probably call off the wedding if he showed up in a full red tux).
The four of you left your shifts early to help decorate, that way the two women could be calm and relaxed on the wedding day.
Once you’d all decorated, you headed home to get ready.
Andy wore a tighter fitting red dress that ended mid-thigh, with her curly hair framing her face, and it took your breath away when she revealed herself.
“Wow,” You looked her up and down.
“You don’t look so bad yourself,” Andy looked you up and down as well, and you felt yourself growing shy.
You were wearing a longer darker red dress. It had spaghetti straps and a slit up the side of the skirt.
Andy kissed your cheek, and it left a lipstick mark.
“Ugh, Andrea!” You moaned in complaint. “We need to go! You can’t do that!”
“I think I already did,” Andy laughed and licked her finger, moving towards you to rub the stain off your face but you backed up.
“Ew!” You put your hands out. “I’ll just wipe it off and redo my makeup on the side in the car. You’ll drive.”
“Yes, sweetheart,” Andy agreed, and the two of you were on your way.
When you got there, you and Andy helped Maya get ready while Victoria and Ben helped Carina.
Well, more Victoria than Ben. He was really just there as moral support. He was the only one at the station who was still currently married, so he was there to calm Carina’s nerves.
The wedding was about to start when Andy pulled you out into the hall, away from the crowd of people the women invited.
“You’re gonna smear your—“ You try to warn Andy before she placed her lips on yours, but she was too far gone. “lipstick.” You mumbled.
“I don’t care,” Andy lifted one of your thighs, your leg wrapping around her hip, the satin red material of your dress bunching around at your own hip.
“I do! You know we’re gonna— mm,” Andy smooshed her lips back onto yours, making your words go muffled.
“Shh,” Andy laughed once more. “You worry too much, my shy, shy girl.”
You duck your chin as always, and Andy lifted it to give you a few more kisses.
“Hey guys..” Maya lead the group of firefighters into the hall.
“We’re about to start— oh my!” Travis put his hand over his eyes.
Andy removed herself from you, dropping your leg to the ground when she does so.
“How long..” Ben asked awkwardly.
“Uh..” You coved your mouth, all of the sudden acting as if you didn’t know what was happening. “That’s an amazing question.. Andy?”
“Just like.. eight months,” Andy shrugged nonchalantly.
“Eight m— eight months?!” Victoria feigned hurt.
“How did you..?” Maya shook her head.
“We’re very good?” You asked.
“This is living proof that opposites attract,” Carina shrugged.
“Yeah, that is true..” Jack nodded. “Wait, so if you’ve been together eight months.. are you living together?”
The silence was deafeningly loud.
“How did we not see this?” Travis asked in a high pitched voice.
“Wait, now that I think about it, there were a lot of occasions..” Maya put her hands on her hips.
“Okay,” Andy put a hand out. “Let us fix ourselves up, and we can get this show on the road.”
Carina dramatically sighed, “How are we gonna put on a wedding after this?”
“Okay, babe, let’s go,” Maya rolled her eyes at her soon-to-be-wife. “Please don’t mess around in the bathroom. You have three minutes.”

"oh captain my captain" your boots echoed into the kitchen as you made your presence known, leaning with your hands on the counter.
"I'm not your captain (Y/L/N), you know that" Andy replied, not raising her head from the toast she was preparing.
"but you're my favorite captain" you shrugged your shoulders, then quickly turned to look at the door "don't tell Sullivan I said that"
Her focus was still on your previous words, so she could only mindlessly laugh at that.
Andy was used to your flattery, this was definitely nothing new, but it never failed to make her blush.
"why are you here all alone by the way?" you asked, stealing her food.
"Hughes, Bishop and Miller are on a call, the others are doing chores. And that-" she slammed her hand on the counter "-is my breakfast"
You reached for the bowl in the middle of the marble top, grabbing an apple and handing it to the brunette
"here's your breakfast, no need to thank me"
Andy raised her eyebrows at your smirk, shifting her gaze from your eyes to the fruit next to your face.
"how's your butt? Birdie told me you fell down the stairs on the last call"
The last call you were on had a big case of termites, and no one living there ever bothered to do anything about it.
So, when you were called because they heard the floor squeaking and you tried to get the old lady out, the wooden stairs failed on you.
Thankfully no one got hurt, except your butt.
"oh my butt's just fine. I don't know if I can say the same about yours"
She tilted her head to the side, silently questioning you. Her lips curled into an amused smile.
"birdie told me," and you both knew you were referring to the same birdie
"you got lucky last night, some 'handsome hair guy' gave you his number" you took another bite of her, your, food.
"well, not that it's any of your business" Andy started and crossed her arms, drawing a step closer to you.
You two were nothing, you two have never been anything but friends. Close friends even, yea sure, but not even between best friends there's usually this...tension.
A touch of a hand or a brush of a shoulder, or the look of encouragement shared before going inside of burning building; all of this was definitely not just friendly, and you could both feel it.
But none of you ever acted on it, for whatever reason.
So, even though it was none of your business, Andy wanted to made sure you knew the truth.
"his number was all I got, I didn't call him"
"ohw, are you scared to go on a date Herrera?" you challenged, lowering your head so your faces were even closer. "is it been that long since your last kiss?"
In a way, you weren't wrong. In the last few months, whenever Andy tried to get with someone, let it be a one night stand or a coffee date, it never felt right.
And she never wanted to admit to herself why it felt wrong, so she just put the dating scene aside, avoiding casual hook ups and flirting with strangers.
But you weren't a stranger.
And to say the tension was a secret would be a great lie. Everyone with working eyeballs could see it, and they all had things to say about it too.
But they don't always notice when they're interrupting a moment,
like Travis right now, barging into the room with his loud voice.
"what's for breakfast? I'm so hun- oh"
he stopped in his tracks, after seeing the position you two were in, making you take a step back from each other.
"did I interrupt something, cause I can go back and we can pretend I was never here"
"no nothing happ-, don't worry about it Travis" you waved your toast in the air, dismissing his entertained expression.
Andy brought her hands on her hips, still trying to wrap her head about what could have happened.
"and there's nothing for breakfast, it was Miller's turn but he's on a call"
The woman then turned to you, and leaned over you to grab the apple you offered her moments ago.
"you're lucky if you can make yourself a toast"
It was meant for Travis, but she never took her eyes off you, watching you take the last bite of her food, smirk on your lips.
2
Vic's posture was slouched and her lips were slightly moving as she counted the money in her hands.
You entered the break room and took a seat on the sofa across from her.
"are you handing out free cash?"
She didn't take her eyes off the bills, afraid she might lose count.
"I'm handling a bet actually, don't distract me"
At that, you let out a sound of surprise, clearly exited
"who are we betting on? I want in"
"I don't you can, since we're betting on you" Vic counted the money again, then put it in her back pocket.
"when are you going to man up and ask Andy out?"
You groaned at her words, throwing your head back onto the backrest of the couch.
"why are you even betting on that? I'm not going to, we're just friends"
It took Vic all her strength not to burst out laughing at you. And you don't think you would have blamed her either.
"alright. Who says I will?"
"oh everyone actually" she shrugged her shoulders, plainly amused by your reaction, "we're just betting on when it's going to happen"
"you're impossible" you replied, knowing damn well you would have loved this bet if it were about anyone else.
"and you're in love with Andy" she accused, slapping your shoulder.
And while you were having this conversation, Andy's day was not going very differently.
"I'm not in love with (Y/N), Maya"
Andy and Maya were assigned with cleaning the lockers room and the blonde tried to make it not so boring with some light conversation, except it wasn't all that fun to the other woman.
"oh come on everyone can see that"
"then everyone is blind" she stopped removing dust from one of the helmets to look at her best friend.
"why are you so persistent on denying it Andy?" the task at hand was long gone by now, and the two were just talking
"You used to tell me everything about Gibson or Tanner or anyone, why won't you tell me about them?"
"because-" the brunette raised her arms in the air, one of her hands still holding the rag she was using to clean the gear
"there's nothing to talk about, we're just friends"
Maya wanted to scoff, or laugh at her face, but much like Vic did, she kept to herself, returning her attention to her assignment.
"besides, why are you so sure they're into me?" she asked after a second of silence, keeping her eyes on the dirty lockers.
If you were into her, she wanted to know. Just out of curiosity, nothing more.
The other firefighter raised an eyebrow, then proceeded to shrug, before answering.
"the way they look at you, the way they talk to you, the way they look at your-" she was stopped just in time by the shirt Andy threw at her face.
"that's just...flirting" Andy tried to justify your behavior, but for some reason she didn't believe it, didn't want to
"they're flirty, I'm flirty, it's just a way to keep things interesting around here. Sorry you're too uptight to understand that"
"oh I'm too uptight?" Maya pointed a finger at herself, laughing in disbelief.
"okay so you're telling me," she put the false accusation aside
"that if you let your hair down, undid a couple of buttons, and swayed your hips, they wouldn't try to sleep with you? not even try to kiss you?" she challenged, pointing with her fingers at every part of her body she was talking about.
Maya enjoyed the hesitation on Andy's face.
"no, they wouldn't." she settled on.
"okay. Let's test it out"
"what?"
"let's test it out" the blonde repeated "and if they really don't try anything, I'll stop insisting"
Andy bit the inside of her cheeks, pondering her answer. She really wanted to get Maya off her back, but she didn't know if she was ready to face the truth.
"(Y/L/N), lieutenant Herrera wants to see you, in the lockers room" Maya's head appeared into the break room, making Vic raise her eyebrows and voice her thoughts in a teasing tone.
"wonder what the lieutenant wants in the room where everyone goes to get naked"
"you're insufferable" you glared at the woman, getting up from the couch. You would have said something else, but by Maya's choise of words it was probably something important, so you let her go.
"thanks Bishop" you nodded your head, exiting the room.
Unbeknownst to you, as soon as they were left alone, the two women instantly started gossiping about their recent conversations.
"lieutenant, Bishop said you wanted to see me?" you asked as you appeared into the room.
"lieutenant? so I'm not your captain anymore, (Y/L/N)?"
You were left with your mouth agape for a couple of seconds, you only called her that way when the situation wasn't serious.
"you..needed my help, as my lieutenant?"
"I needed your advice actually, on something not really work related" she explained, and you relaxed a bit.
"sure, ask away" you shrugged, leaning your back on one of the lockers.
"you think this is appropriate, for a date?" she opened her arms to better show her outfit, which was just her uniform. The only thing that really changed was her wavy hair, now free from the ponytail she always had at work.
You blinked a few times, before nodding
"uh I guess? perfect for an after shift day"
"do I know them?" she saw you fiddle with one of the hanging coats, but she didn't mention it, "another firefighter? someone you met at the bar, or-"
you turned to look at her, "mister 'handsome hair guy', you finally called him?"
"are you jealous, (Y/L/N)?" Andy squinted her eyes, and made a show of crossing her arms, making you follow the movement.
That was a big mistake, because now you were hyper aware of the few buttons missing from her shirt.
She took a step closer.
"why would I?" you licked your lips, and mimicked her action. Neither of you noticed, but those two steps were enough to get the two of you face to face.
"do you want me, to be jealous?" you lowered your voice, two of your fingers slipping into the loop of her pants, pulling her towards you.
"I-" her breath seemed to get stuck in her throat and her arms threatened to fall to her sides.
"(Y/N).." she whispered, and you could feel the word on your lips.
"Aid car 19. Medical response requested" the loud voice echoed into the silent locker room, but it didn't interrupt your staring contest.
"I'm on aid car today" you explained, and you knew you could get an earful from captain Sullivan if you didn't run to the truck right that instant, but you couldn't get your legs to move.
And Andy wasn't helping at all.
"I know"
"Aid car 19. Medical response requested"
"(Y/L/N), you ready?" you heard another voice yell from the other room.
This time, you took a step back.
"coming Warren" you yelled back, making sure he heard you.
"I have to go" you said, with more urgency then before, and all you got back was a distant nod.
"you'd look great in anything, by the way" you added once you had one foot out of the door, then shut it quickly behind you, missing the blush that covered Andy's cheeks at your comment.
3
The sound of the big door opening and the motor of the engine shutting off made your ears perk up, and you turned to see half the team getting out of the truck.
The captain instantly went to his office, but that's where he always was when he wasn't on a call, so that didn't surprise you.
What surprised you was that a certain brunette didn't even spare you a glance, going up the stairs.
You furrowed your eyebrows at her behavior, but you couldn't catch her attention as the man on the phone was still talking your ear off, and you were trying really hard not to be rude.
"and I'm sorry that happened, sir, but you can't call the fire department for something like this" you pinched the bridge of your nose, hoping to end this as soon as possible.
When he repeated the same problem for the third time you restrained a groan, leaning back on the chair, making someone laugh behind you.
You craned your neck to look at her, then motioned for her to come closer with your hand.
"there's nothing we can do sir, if someone stole your car you need to call the police, not us"
Maya laughed again at your words, leaning on the counter beside the phone.
"yes, yes, hope you can get it back, yes, goodbye" your tone grew more impatient with every word, until you finally ended the call, slamming the phone back on the table.
"desk duty is so fun right?" she mocked you, and she was less then effected by your glare.
"yea sure, that's what I dreamed about when I applied to be a firefighter" sarcasm laced your answer.
"hey uhm" you stalled for a second, Maya was acting normally, but it was very weird for Andy to ignore you, unless she wasn't in the mood to interact with anyone
"did anything happen on the last call?"
You saw her shake her head, almost confused by the question.
"I don't know, Andy seemed weird. But, she probably didn't see me" you tried to reason, but Maya nodding her head made you rethink what you said.
"nothing happened, but you should go talk to her"
Even though her words did nothing but fuel your confusion, you briefly thanked her, then went up the stairs.
You mindlessly played with your fingers as you paced back and forth in the hallway; despite Maya's words, you still didn't know if bothering Andy would be a great idea.
Maybe she wanted her space, that's why she ran straight to her room, or maybe she didn't have the courage to ask for the help she needed.
While your head was busy thinking about different scenarios, your feet made the decision for you, stopping you in your tracks, and your knuckles tapped two times on the wooden door.
Andy heard you calling out her name, and much like you did moments ago, debated whether or not to let you in.
A whole minute has passed with her biting her lip in thought, and keeping her eyes everywhere but on the door itself.
And when she finally made her decision, she was afraid it was now too late.
"come in"
To her surprise, you had been standing there the whole time, turning the handle at her words, and stepping slowly into the room.
She moved to one side of the bed, to make room for you. And you mimicked her position, leaning your back on the wall.
Since you didn't know what she needed just yet, you meant to stay silent, but she was the first one to break the silence.
"she would have died"
She kept her gaze ahead, even when your head turned to look at her.
"if the team followed my lead, she would have died."
"what are you saying Andy?" you whispered, noticing how she took her time to form words; and when she did, her words were hardly coherent.
"on the call, Sullivan asked me if I had a plan, and I had one. But we ended up doing as he said" she paused, her gaze falling to the hands on her lap "and thank god we did, because if we waited like i suggested she would have died. And it would have been my fault"
"but she didn't"
"yea because I'm not a captain, (Y/N)" for the first time she looked back at you, with furrowed eyebrows and a pleading look in her eyes.
"I've been so fixated on thinking I should be the captain because my dad was, that maybe- maybe I don't deserve it" she concluded, lightly shaking her head.
It was no secret that having Sullivan as a captain has been hard on everyone. You could handle a strict leadership, sure, you were used to hostile situations anyway, but this team has always felt like a home, and someone suddenly entered the family, altering its balance.
And it was definetly no secret that the one who has suffered the most from it was Andy. She had to see her father step down, and the station she grew up in being commanded by someone else, someone who knew nothing about any member of the team.
She tried not to let it show, always claiming she accepted the change, and just wanted to make a good impression on the new captain.
But you could see how it was eating her alive.
You reached for her hand, linking your fingers together. You didin't say anything, waiting for her to look at you, and she did.
"we don't know what could have happened" you whispered "maybe you would have changed your mind halfway through, or you would have taken your teammate idea and changed the plan. You would have saved her, I'm sure of it"
Judging by her silence, you thought she was considering your words, until you heard her take a sharp breath in, and her hand in yours briefly loosened it's grip.
She was finding it harder and harder to keep eye contact, she felt the corners of her eyes burning, and if it were anyone else right now she would have just asked them to leave.
But you weren't anyone else, and she found herself hanging onto your every word, your tone showing a warmth only the touch of your hand could recreate, and with the way you were looking at her, she has never felt more naked, more vulnerable.
"you don't know that" she breathed out, sounding almost defeated.
"no I don't" you admitted, because you didn't. "but I know that you would have done anything in your power to save everyone, like you always do, as a captain or a lieutenant or as a person. I would follow you into a building on the verge of collapsing if you told me to do so, which could happen tomorrow" she lightly chucked, knowing this was a very plausible scenario.
Your tone became serious again, "because I know you pondered every other possibility, and I trust you to make the right choice." your tongue came out to swipe against your lips, and Andy couldn't help but follow the action with her eyes
"I mean it when I say you're the best captain this station could ever have"
"(Y/N)..." she didn't know why she called your name, you were right there, but you were the only thing on her mind at this point.
You were so close to her, she just head to tilt her head and she would feel the lips that uttered such comforting words on hers.
But when she scooted closer, or maybe it was your doing, you blinked rapidly, almost as if you just realized what was about to happen, then cleared your throat.
"you should get some sleep"
You almost regretted your words as you took in the hurt expression on her face. You would have wanted nothing more than to allow her to zero the distance, to finally give clarity to this weird relationship between you two, but you didn't want to take advantage of her vulnerable state, and confuse the need of comfort with love.
"I'll see you after my shift?" you forced yourself to ask as you got up from her bed when she made no move to talk.
"yea" she only noticed you getting to her door when her hand started to get cold again.
"thank you"
"anytime" you replied softly, then closed the door behind you.
4
You took another sip from your cold beer, while you leaned your back on the wall.
You stopped interacting with the others a little while ago, just content with listening to them talk.
To be honest you weren't really following what they were saying, all became a blur to you after the second, or the third beer, but you could recognize their light tones and careless laughs, making you feel at ease.
You could make out Travis and Jack's voice, with some interventions from Dean here and there, probably warning them not to get their feet on his coffee table.
You could also make out the sound of the water by the deck slowly moving with the wind.
The one sound that came crystal clear to your ears was a certain brunette's laugh as she talked with her friend a few feet away from you.
Even if Andy, and Vic for that matter, caught you looking in their direction multiple times, you could just say that you were looking at the water behind them, not that they would believe you. Vic definitely wouldn't.
As you raised the bottle to your lips you found your mouth empty, and a little frown took over your face.
You didn't bother warning the others, it's not like you were participating in the conversation, and headed inside.
And once you were back in the house the lack of the wind running through your hair made your cheeks feel really warm, making you realize they were probably red on the outside.
You actually went inside to get another beer or something to eat, but once your eyes landed on it, you couldn't resist the couch in the middle of the room.
"careful with your head like that, you might throw up"
it was only a few seconds of you sitting on the couch with your head leaned back in the air over the headrest until you heard her soft voice, and her heels coming closer to you.
"and you followed me to make sure I wouldn't?" you changed position, guided by her hand on the back of your neck, and saw her sitting next you.
"it was more so you wouldn't get another beer" she chuckled, turning so her middle was facing you.
"I wasn't going to get another beer" you lied.
She began speaking again, about what you didn't know, you weren't even sure she was talking; you could just see the way her lips moved, lips that had much more lipstick earlier this evening, she must have removed it by accident with a napkin after eating.
Her makeup was still on point though, you saw her subtly checking it with her phone before, but you were too far away to tell her it was perfect.
You were used to her wearing make up, she did that for a night out or, in this case, when you had little parties at Dean's house.
But there was one thing you didn't see often.
"what are thinking about?" her words finally entered your brain, making you blink rapidly.
Your voice came out slightly unsteady, but Andy was the only one to notice
"your hair"
"my hair?" she raised her eyebrows, cackling.
Between the alcohol turning your gears and her laugh stopping them, you struggled to find your next words "yea it's-" you scooter closer, one hand reaching to twirl a lock of her hair between your fingers "-different, I like it on you"
She got out a small "thank you" as she saw you playing with the ends of her curly hair, and she could feel your breath on her collarbone from the way you were leaning into her.
"sorry, I don't want to ruin it" you apologized, letting your hand fall next to her thigh.
When you raised your head to look at her you found her really close to your face, lips mere inches away from each other.
"it's okay" she reassured in a whisper, but she had a feeling your head was somewhere else.
In a bold act, probably guided by the alcohol, you propped yourself up on the couch to get even closer to the brunette, and closed your eyes.
You opened them again when you felt a hand on your chest, Andy's fingers gently grabbing the fabric of your shirt.
Her mouth was still agape, trying to grasp the right words.
"you're drunk" she whispered, but it felt more like an inconvenience rather than a statement.
She didn't give you time to reply and just got up from the couch, excusing herself as she went back outside.
Even after you were left alone, your eyes were still on the same spot were Andy was seated, trying to translate abstract thoughts.
Then, letting out a big sigh, you resumed your position on the couch.
And suddenly, the alcohol in your system wasn't nearly enough to stop you from realizing what you just did.
And how Andy reacted.
You felt the couch dip beside you, and it was only then you reopened your eyes, finding Maya next to you.
You two sat silently for a while, she didn't drink as much as you did, but you could see the light redness on her cheeks and her relaxed eyebrows.
She probably came in here to get away from the voices that seemed to get louder every second; as some of them tended to get loud when drunk.
You cleared your throat, but your voice still came out in a whisper.
"I almost kissed her"
And if you weren't so distracted you would have slapper her for the surprised laugh she let out
"you what?"
"I almost kissed her" you repeated, this time louder "and she pulled away"
While you were looking at the ceiling you missed the way the blonde fully turned her body towards you, adjusting one leg under the other. She squinted her eyes, almost hoping you were so drunk it was all just incoherent blabbing
"what do you mean she pulled away?"
"she pulled away, she rejected me, she refused me, she turned me down- is it clear now?" you asked sarcastically, placing the empty bottle that was still in your hand on the coffee table in front of you.
The blonde furrowed her eyebrows, deeply confused with this turn of events.
"...Andy?"
"yes Maya, Andy. Who do you think I'm in love with?" normally you would have never let something so big slip, especially when she was in the other room, but you were too drunk and confused and hurt and tired to care about filtering your words.
Thankfully she didn't make it a big deal, and tried her best to comfort you. Truth was, Maya herself didn't know how to help you, she was so sure Andy had feelings for you that she couldn't think of any reason why she did what she did.
So, when they all got back inside to end the night and Andy saw you sleeping on her shoulder, and offered to drive you home, Maya tightened the hold on your shirt, stating you didn't need it, and you could just sleep at Dean's for the night.
You made sure to thank Maya the morning after at the station, while feeling a pair of eyes on the back of your back.
5
After the "accident" at Dean's house, you expected Andy to treat you differently, or even to avoid you, but to your surprise she acted normally around you.
Or at least she tried to.
While you tried to pretend nothing ever happened that night, for Andy's sake, Andy couldn't stop thinking about it.
It was not the first time you almost kissed, so it shouldn't bother her this much; but it was the first time she pulled away.
This time there was no call, no one entering the room, no one interrupting them but herself.
She tried telling herself that you didn't really want it, that you were too drunk to actually realize what you tried to do, but it was all just an excuse not to blame herself.
Every time you looked at her she couldn't get the image of your eyes closed and your red cheeks out of her head, every time you talked to her, Andy couldn't stop thinking about how you so softly complimented her hair, and it was becoming harder and harder not to confront you.
But thankfully, with your line of work, she was able to put personal business aside and just treat you like a coworker.
"(Y/L/N), Bishop, what's the situation?" your lieutenant asked through the radio.
She was assigned by the captain to the hoses outside the condo with Montgomery and Hughes, while you and Maya had to go inside the building to check where the smoke was coming from.
"we're on the fifth floor for now, there's still no fire but I'm starting to smell the smoke" the blonde replied, before shutting down the communication.
"you know what I was thinking about" she started, casting you a quick look and seeing your raised eyebrow through the mask before continuing "Andy's been acting weird around you"
"yea I wonder why" you sarcastically remarked, ignoring her laugh.
"no I mean, good weird. She looks at you more from across the room, she always seats beside you during breakfast, she asks you how you are during a call" she finished, referring to what she did a few seconds ago.
"she asked us" you clarified "and she is not acting any different, you're seeing things"
Not that Maya told you, but after that night Andy came to her to confide in her best friend, and finally told her the truth.
"I think you should tell her how you feel, maybe she just needs to hear you say it" she encouraged you, now that she knew both sides she couldn't help but try to push you in the right direction and end this endless pining.
Without stopping, you answered "oh you want me to be direct? Sure" you mimicked her action, shrugging your shoulders "do you remember when I tried to kiss you and you pulled away? yea well, I wanted to tell you that I really like you, in case you wanted to turn me down a second time."
You scoffed at your own words and turned a corner, but when you saw her stopping in her tracks you also stopped, confused.
"there's the smoke" she announced, making you look at the apartment at the end of the hallway, and while she ran towards the door, you opened your radio.
"captain, we found the source, east side of the building. We're going in"
Turns out the apartment belonged to a single mother and while she was distracted by her kids the stove she was cooking breakfast on caught on fire, and the flames instantly engulfed the door, forcing her to hide in the other room with her two boys.
While Maya helped the woman and the kids evacuate the building, you stayed behind to extinguish what was left of the fire.
After receiving confirmation that there wasn't anyone else left in the apartment, you got out of the building to finally get some fresh air.
You sat at the back of the engine, with the oxygen mask covering half of your face. You were looking in front of you at the smoke slowly disappearing when suddenly someone blocked the sun from hitting the side of your face, making you look up at her.
"you're using our vics' masks" Andy leaned on the door of truck, but made no move to grab the device.
"oh I didn't know-" you went to take it off your face, but her hand on your wirst and her laugh stopped you.
"I'm kidding, they used it while you were inside." she explained with a smile. But then it seemed to falter for a second "are you okay? Maya said it shouldn't have taken you that long to extinguish the fire. I could have sent someone up to help you."
You closed one eye and furrowed your eyebrows when her new position exposed you to the sun once again, but you kept on looking at her with the other eye.
You found it cute how she offered you help without realizing she couldn't have made that decision by herself anyway.
"don't worry about it captain, I was just checking for any gas leaks" the fake title rolling off your tongue as sweetly as the last time you used it a couple of weeks ago.
She saw you putting the oxygen mask behind you and let her gaze fall to the ground. When she finally told Maya how she feels about you, the blonde never revealed what she knew about your own feelings, and only told her to "go for it", which didn't help. at all.
"what's up with you?" your fingers reached for her belt loops and brought her closer. Andy widened her eyes slightly in surprise but when she noticed your relazed eyebrows, she realized you just moved her to block the sun.
"what do you mean? I'm fine" she knew it was useless with you, but she still tried to play dumb.
"I know you Andy, I can see when you're lost in your thoughts"
You gave her time to answer but she took it to look at your features.
The full face mask you wore before made your hair messier that they normally were, and your uniform had now dust and ash traces. Since her body covered the sun from hitting your face she couldn't see the brightness she was used to admire in your eyes, but they still held the same softness they always held while you were looking at her.
What she couldn't really take her eyes off where your cheeks. Being close to the fire made your body temperature grow, and gave your cheeks the same hue they had the night at Dean's house.
And that made Andy think.
Maybe your action weren't completely controlled by the alcohol.
In a spur of confidence, Andy grabbed your rosy cheeks, bringing you closer to her. And suddenly, much to your surprise, her lips where on yours.
You put one hand behind you so you wouldn't fall on your back with the force she was using, while your other hand went to reach behind her neck.
Andy could almost taste the smoke you inhaled minutes before, but the fact that you were kissing her back was enough to make up for it.
When she pulled away and straightened her back from the uncomfortable arch it was in, you slowly reopened your eyes and you honestly couldn't tell who looked more surprised.
"I thought-" the hand on your cheeck was making it just that bit harder for you to think "when I tried to kiss you-"
"you were drunk" she replied "I wasn't sure you really wanted it and I didn't want to finally kiss you when you wouldn't be able to remember the next day"
You kept looking between her eyes during the explanation, your hand going back to her waist mid speech.
"I will definitely remember now" you remarked, before pulling her in a second kiss.
Before you could detach yourself from her lips, you heard someone's footsteps coming towards you, then a loud cheer sounded from behind Andy.
"I see you two finally did it"
"and now I don't have to keep your secrets anymore" Maya added, following Vic.
"wait you knew? why didn't you tell me, Andy?" Vic looked between the two women,
"because you suck at keeping secrets Vic" the woman next to you answered, crossing her arms. She shifted her weight, slightly leaning into you hand still resting on her side.
"you really do, Vi" you chuckled, backing Andy up.
"yea whatever you know what?" she pointed at the both of you "I still won the bet, so thank you anyway, love birds" Vic proudly announced, but before getting in the back of the engine, she turned to the blonde once again
"and you're not getting anything, since you already knew"
At that, Maya groaned, following her "oh come on, that's not fair"
Their argument got lost on you as you turned back to look at Andy, who looked both amused and confused. She probably wasn't aware of the bet.
You got up and kissed her cheek to bring her attention back to you.
"do you want to drive?" she asked after a second, knowing that with her as lieutenant you'd sit next to her.
"yea, I'd like that. And,"
you took a step forward, your lips hovering hers "we can talk about this later?"
She nodded with a smile, but when she tried to close the distance, Travis honking from the aid car startled her.
He was a few meters away, so he wasn't able to see what was happening, or he would have never interrupted.
But Andy decided right this moment that she didn't want to get interrupted by anyone anymore, so she put her arms around your neck, and leaned in to kiss you again.
"let's go back, before we get another call" she spoke up once she separated from you, then walked past you to get into the passenger's seat.
And as soon as you started the engine, you heard Andy's incredulous voice, making you laugh out loud
"why did no one tell me about the bet?"

Summary: you've been together with Andy for almost a year, but when your toxic ex comes to Seattle looking for you, who knows what Andy could do?
Andy Herrera x f reader, depicted violence and emotional abuse, mature audiences only
Prev. Parts can be seen in this mega list
You've been together with Andy for almost a year. You've been working at station 19 roughly around the same time, and you couldn't be happier. Everybody enjoys your company as you enjoyed theirs, they shared their secrets as you've learned to share yours. Andy opened her heart to you, and you to her.
Neither of you have said the L word to each other yet... But you know you have been feeling it for quite some time for Andy, and you want to say it out loud, proclaim it from the rooftops, sing it to Andy, the list goes on.
But it's not gonna be today. Your heart drops at the sound of her voice over the phone call, beguiling and disarming—everything you've tried to run away from when you transferred away to Seattle.
Your ex girlfriend, Bonnie.
"baby, listen to me. I'm in town, and I want to meet up. Just hang out, y'know?" Her voice crackles over the line, luring you with her intoxicating allure, though now you feel that she's toxic, more than anything.
"that will never happen. Who gave you my number?" You pinch your eyebrows, trying to keep your voice even as you look for a hidden corner in the barn to continue talking.
She's quiet for a while, and you can feel it. Bonnie is pissed, but she hides it with a sweet voice, like so; "I have my ways, baby. I know where you work, I'll drop by and say hi soon,"
You hang up without saying anything, shoving your phone into your pants pocket a little too roughly. you sit in the back of an open aid car, hands on your head.
"is... Everything okay?" A voice calls out from behind you.
You immediately whip your head around to see Andy, in the middle of restocking the medical supplies. You compose yourself, shaking your head a little too vigorously to be believable. "It's, it's all good, Andy, I..."
Andy gives you a concerned smile, and she immediately put her task aside, sitting down next to you. She gently squeezes your thigh, making you sigh. "No, no... You promised me that you will be honest with me, remember? We can be honest with each other, so tell me,"
You look into her eyes, your whole being reflected in them, and you hate it. You hate being vulnerable, you literally became a firefighter a decade ago so you don't have to do all the touchy feely stuff. But you love Andy, and you promised her. So you sigh. "I... My ex is in town,"
"is that the problem?" Andy asks, a little confused. She knows you well enough not to be miffed, and instead asks you with curiosity.
You shake your head... And sigh. "yes and no. Bonnie was... I guess, still is, in a way, toxic,"
"toxic how?" Andy follows up, taking your hand in hers, her warmth making you feel like you're on fire, yet completely okay.
"like... She was so controlling, I... I met her when I was 16, and she was... 23," and now that you say it out loud, you wince to yourself, wondering why you ever let yourself date Bonnie.
Andy's eyebrows raise, and she takes a deep breath. "Okay... Not a good start of the story..."
You nod, if not a little pained at having to tell Andy one of the lowest points of your life. "I thought she was the one, y'know? She... Made me feel special, treated me like I'm a grown up, we... we got into so much trouble together, and I was feeling weightless in the middle of it all, like I'm flying in the clouds... I thought I loved her, but it turns out she... What's the word, she was... Uh, brushing—"
"grooming," Andy corrects you, smiling a little at your mishap. You can't help but smile at how easy it is for her to know your thoughts, for better or worse. "And then what?"
"and yeah, she was... Grooming me to be her child bride or something... So I gathered the courage to uh, to move to a new city, applied to be a firefighter, and... Here I am, ten years after," you shrug, not really knowing what else to say about the matter.
Andy looks at you with nothing but affection in her eyes, and it only solidified after your story. She takes your intertwined hands and put it up to her chest, keeping it there. "I'm glad you're here, with me,"
"me too," you purse your lips, leaning your head on her shoulder.
"...did she hit you?" Andy asks, with a quieter volume... But a louder emotion she can't quite place.
You shake your head. "No, never... But she was always making me feel terrible when I couldn't spend time with her, like I always have to be available to her... I skipped so much school because of that,"
You can feel Andy's muscles tensing from her shoulder you're leaning on, and she huffs out a grunt. "Don't tell me you're going to meet her,"
You laugh, almost a little offended. "Fuck no,"
Andy relaxes a little, but she doesn't let go of your hand. "I'm... sorry, I... I hate the idea of you seeing her again,"
You grin to yourself, sheepish from Andy's protectiveness. "I won't," you look up to her, giving her a peck on the lips—which she welcomes.
"Engine 19, aid car 19, requested to..." The alarm sounds out the rest, and you two reluctantly part, getting ready for the call.
Later that afternoon... it's an empty station, save for Travis in the barn, mopping the floor from grease. Nobody is manning the receptionist desk, and a woman walks in.
Travis looks to the source of the sound, and he makes his way to the front. He greets the nondescript looking woman, who's looking at the pictures of station 19 crew smiling with kids on the bulletin board. "Hi, can I help you, ma'am?"
She turns around, smiling disarmingly. "not at all... I'm looking for..." She looks at the pictures, pointing at a person smiling next to Andy, and points at her. "For her? Is she in today? I have something I needed to talk about with her,"
Travis shakes his head no. "No, sorry... She's out on a call. But maybe, if you want I can deliver your message to her...?"
The woman shakes her head no, with a devastatingly charming smile. "No, it's okay. I'll come back later, thank you,"
Travis nods with a courteous smile, then goes back to the barn, resuming his mopping.
After seeing Travis gone, the woman looks around again, and seeing as nobody else is present, she takes the picture she was pointing at earlier, off the bulletin board.
She leaves the station with a memento.
You and 19 finished the call, nothing you can't handle together. You walk with Andy back to the aid car, as you're on driving duty. Andy nudges your shoulder with a cheeky smile.
"so... You wanna fool around in the aid car for a bit?" She asks, giving you a sly expression.
You bite your lower lip...
"yeah," you said easily, amused yourself by how Andy is 90% of your impulse control but also the cause of your impulses.
She speeds off to the aid car, leaving you in the dust. She beckons you to speed up, which you do with a small smile.
-
You're kissing Andy in the back of the aid car (with the doors closed), straddling her lap as she cradles your face in her hands, your hands all over her back, and your clothes are starting to feel really bothersome.
"rookie... You want...?" Andy asks, panting inbetween kissing you, her hand at the buckle of your belt all of a sudden.
You groan. "No... Andy, remember the last time we did that...? We got caught and was turned into a meme in the group chat,"
Andy chuckles, but she doesn't let go of your hips, as you're still sitting on her lap. "The memes were funny,"
You give her a look.
She sighs. "Fine... Let's stick to just making out then,"
You comply without a second's hesitation.
In the evening, as the engines and aid cars park back inside the barn, A shift is getting ready to go home for the day. You're just about finished taking the last of your things out of the locker when you feel a hand wrapping around your hips, making you instinctively grin.
"Andy, stop..." You turn around with a cheeky smile, and rightly so, Andy is biting her lip, pulling your hips flush with hers in the middle of the empty locker area.
"wanna grab dinner at our usual food truck?" She asks, giving you a conspiratorial smile.
You sigh a small smile. "We can just call it by its name, y'know. nobody's around,"
"you don't know that, rookie. They have ears everywhere, and I want to gatekeep the food to ourselves,"
You caress her cheek with one hand, amused at her immaturity you only recently discovered her having. "You make a good point. But... I need to go to the self storage tonight, finally found a buyer for the couch,"
Andy nods, if not a little disappointed. "Right. That's $150 for me, $30 for you, right?"
You scoff in disbelief. "Oh, and when did we come up with that agreement?"
She shrugs with a devious grin. "Last night at my place, after... I don't know, the fifth round?"
You let out an involuntary laugh. "That doesn't count, that was post-orgasm talking—"
"what are you lovebirds talking about?" Vic suddenly comes into the locker area, a knowing smile on her face as she takes her fine toothed comb out of her duffle bag.
Andy doesn't let go of your hips, but her grip slacken. "Just sex stuff,"
Vic nods without much thought. "Huh, y'know, at first you two were such a hot topic when we all first found out, but now you're just overwhelming us with your PDA that it becomes boring,"
You protest. "Hey. We're not boring,"
Andy shrugs. "We kind of are,"
Vic laughs on her way out. "When's the wedding?"
She leaves the question to die in the air, making you both swallow the sentiment without talking about it.
"right, I gotta go," you remember your couch situation, and Andy lets you go. You give Andy a quick kiss on the lips, and she hugs you goodbye.
You enter the self storage space in downtown Seattle, a good twenty minute drive away from the station. You wave the manager lazily sitting behind the counter, who doesn't acknowledge your arrival other than giving you a grunt.
After walking a bit, you stand in front of your storage space, fish your keys out from your bag, but you accidentally fumbled and dropped it.
"still clumsy like the old days," a voice dryly chuckles, alarming you.
You whip your head around, begging to the gods that it's not who you think it is.
It's who you think it is.
It's Bonnie, your ex, in the flesh.
She gives you a charming smile, but it quickly drops, and as it drops—you feel something heavy hitting you on the side of your temples...
And everything goes dark.
You don't know how much time has passed. Everything in your vision is spinning as you slowly come to, though you're slowly starting to be able to focus on what you're looking at.
"Bonnie," you sit up groggily on the ground, clutching the side of your temple and feel something wet. Blood.
Bonnie sits on the couch you're trying to sell, and now you realize she's locked you both inside your storage room. She looks at you with nothing but calm on her face, but you know she's never calm. "I tried looking for you earlier at station 19, but that sweet freckled guy told me you were out on a call,"
You sit up, fully come to, head throbbing and your heart pounding a mile a minute. "So you followed me,"
She shrugs, leaning back on the couch. "You ran away from our hometown, our friends, you ran from me—what the hell happened, baby? Why the sudden move?"
You feel like you're going to throw up. Bonnie has never been like this. Back then, she was emotionally immature, yet manipulative—impulsive, yet scarily calculating when it comes to her own best interest; but this? This is serial killer level behavior.
You try looking for your phone, but it's in your bag... Your bag, sitting pretty right next to Bonnie. Bonnie looks at where you're looking at, and she looks back at you with a thin smile.
"I'm not a serial killer, baby. I just wanna talk,"
"then open the doors, let's talk," you bargain, but you know it's futile. When Bonnie wants something, she always have to have what she wants.
"the last time I let you talk, baby—you left me and our whole town, and I couldn't find you for ten years," Bonnie mutters rather sharply, her tone spiking at the end, however still calm and composed.
You sit up straighter, trying to think of your options. You could talk to her now, see what she wants, maybe she wants to hang out like she said!
But you know better than that. Bonnie was malicious then, but judging from the way she bludgeoned your head and locked you both in here without a way for you to escape, Bonnie is volatile now.
"talk, yeah, okay... Talk about what?" You ask, at the same time trying to think of a way to call for help.
Bonnie thinks for a moment. "What about this?" She takes out a paper from her shirt pocket, and it's a photo. A photo of you, smiling with Andy, big toothed grin on your faces. "Who is she?"
You swallow nervously. "Just someone I work with,"
She clicks her tongue, seemingly getting agitated. "Doesn't look like just a co-worker, baby. Who is she?"
"that's not why you came here, is it? You came here for me," you try to distract her, eyes scanning your storage space, trying to remember where you put things.
"yes, that's true," Bonnie nods, getting up from the couch, walking around your space. She then whips her head around at you, face scrunched up in confusion. "What the fuck happened to us, baby? It used to be just you and me, huh? And now you... You just... Ran away?"
You're terrified for your life. You truly, truly are. But you've watched enough true crime documentaries and observed Bonnie for so long to know that if she walks out of here after killing you, she's gonna go after Andy next.
So you breathe.
"Bonnie, what's between us was... It was great, y'know? But... We got into so much trouble, and, well... Our time has passed, Bonnie. We gotta move on with our lives, doesn't mean that I ran away,"
Even though you actually did ran away.
Bonnie doesn't want to accept that as a valid answer. She shakes her head, and grabs you by the collar, dragging you to your feet. "We were in love,"
"our time together has passed," you insist on the sentiment, trying to keep yourself calm.
She roughly let you go with a grunt, looking away from you. "Does your new girlfriend make you feel like you're flying high? Like when you're with me?"
"no," you shake your head, spotting your gardening tools at the corner of your eye, sitting on the corner of the storage. "She makes me feel like I'm standing on solid ground."
"and how is that better?" She scoffs.
"she makes me want to be a better version of myself. Firefighting is my calling, Bonnie—we were never meant to be together,"
"don't fucking say that," she sneers, visibly displeased with your choice of words.
It's now or never.
You dive sideways, snatching a lighter from the corner of a nearby table. You skid into the corner where your gardening supplies are, grabbing a bottle of pesticide.
Bonnie's eyes widen at your actions. "What do you think you're doing?"
You flicked the lighter open. "Run, Bonnie. Get out of here,"
She only scoffs. "You don't have the guts. You think you have what it takes to kill me? You think that'll work?"
You keep the lighter open near the pesticide bottle, holding them both up. "Get out, Bonnie."
She shakes her head in disbelief. "And what if I don't? What if, instead, I take you home with me, back to our hometown, and we live happily ever after?"
"and what if I don't come with you?"
"then I'll go for your girlfriend," she shrugs easily. "Clearly, she's the reason you don't want to leave Seattle,"
You've made up your mind. You're not gonna let that happen to Andy.
So it should only happen to you.
You opened the pesticide, poured it onto the ground around you, and you drop your lighter, and everything goes ablaze.
Bonnie's wide-eyed expression of shock is the last thing you see as you stagger backwards, the fire creating a wall between you and her.
Andy hasn't left the station, as it turns out. She's busy talking to Maya about shift changes in her office, when the alarm suddenly rings out.
"engine 19, aid 19, requested to..."
Andy can feel her heart drop. She turns to Maya, expression horrified. "That's where rookie is at right now,"
Maya doesn't waste time. She nods at Andy, and they both get out of there, and onto the destination.
-
"...you don't think it's her, do you?" Warren asks as he drives the engine, Andy sitting shotgun in the senior man spot.
Andy's growing restless, failing at trying not to show it. "I hope not,"
Warren sympathetically nods, eyes still on the road. "I know we make jokes and memes about you two being a thing, but... I think you're both..."
"...meant to be?" Andy finished Ben's sentiment with a small smile, despite herself.
"yeah, something like that," Warren shrugs.
"I know," Andy leans her head on her hand, as her hand leans on the engine window frame. "Because I feel it too, and yet... I haven't even told her I love her,"
"call her, then,"
Andy doesn't even argue. She pulls out her phone, and dials your number.
Nobody picked up.
Andy sighs, focusing her gaze on the road instead.
They drive the rest in uneasy silence.
As 19 arrives on the scene, the storage space lot is halfway engulfed in flames, but luckily, nobody is found injured so far.
Maya talks to the manager of the space, trying to remain focused. "Excuse me, can you tell me if anybody is still inside?"
The manager thinks. "Uh... There's the... The ditzy kid, the firefighter? She hasn't come out,"
Maya nods uneasily. "Which number?"
Andy hops off the engine, taking the hose down, getting ready to kill the fire.
Maya approaches Andy, face somber. "She's in there, we're gonna send a team to get her,"
Andy's eyes widen, dropping the hose without hesitation. "I'll go in there,"
Maya shakes her head, holding Andy back from rushing in to the active fire. "No, you're too close to this, Andy—we'll send in a team,"
Andy feels red in the face. "No, not when the woman I love—"
Maya doesn't budge, though her microexpression sheds a shred of sympathy. "I get it, Andy, but you can't go in there—"
And as luck would have it, the recovery team steps out of the entrance, carrying an unconscious you on a backboard... And Bonnie.
Andy immediately rushes to your side, tears free falling from her eyes as the team walks on. "Rookie? Rookie, oh my god, rookie, wake up!"
"Herrera, you can ride with her in the aid car," one of her colleagues carrying the backboard nods at Andy, which she doesn't pay attention to, too preoccupied at the thought of losing you.
"rookie, wake up, rookie, my love..." Andy pleads, cradling your face in her hand.
You slowly come to at the sound of Andy's voice, echoing in the back of your mind. "... Andy,"
She let out a choked sob, a relieved laugh escaping her lips. "Hey, yeah, yeah, I'm here... I'm here... Your, your head is pretty banged up, too, aside from these burns,"
You lift your head up slightly, and see Bonnie loaded up into a different aid car. "That's... That was my ex, Bonnie,"
Andy's face darken, despite her tears. "What...? Did she set fire to the place...?"
"no, I... I..." Your head hurts so much, and everything else hurts too.
You feel yourself being loaded into the aid car, and Andy rides with you.
They close the doors, and the aid car is on its way to grey sloan.
"what the hell happened, rookie?"
"well..." You groan weakly, the drip of saline being infused into you not really kicking in just yet.
You manage to tell Andy the full story, and her face journey fluctuates between saddened and angered... But as your story ends, she's just so relieved you're still here.
She squeezes your hand in hers, her face full of unsaid things. "I'm just... I'm glad you're okay, rookie..."
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to worry anyone—"
"you should know by now that you have people that care about you, rookie,"
You slowly nod, fully understanding the weight of her words. "I guess I'm just starting to really accept that,"
"I... I love you, rookie," Andy said slowly, but surely. "Our job is dangerous, and... I don't want another day to go by without me telling you this,"
You feel your cheeks splitting from the smiling you're doing, though part of that is also from the burns you've suffered from the fire. "Really...?"
"really," Andy nods, resolute. "I don't even know why I didn't say it sooner,"
You bashfully sigh. "I... I love you, Andy,"
Andy grins brilliantly, radiantly. "Yeah?"
"I think that's kind of obvious," you offer with a sly smile.
"...maybe. but it's nice to hear it out loud," Andy chuckles softly, kissing your knuckles.
You were given a four week leave due to your injuries, and you were discharged after week one. The night you were admitted into grey sloan, detectives question you, and you told them the truth.
It took some convincing from your captain, but the detectives decided that you're not found guilty in lieu of self defense, while Bonnie will be charged with assaulting a firefighter, and will face time.
You persuaded the detectives to also give Bonnie a psychiatrist beforehand, as your ex also showed symptoms of narcissistic personality disorder, and they shrug out a maybe.
It's been three weeks into your paid leave, and you decide to use your day off to visit Bonnie, still in the hospital.
"hey," you slowly walk over to the edge of her bed, and she watches you without any expression.
Her heavily bandaged limbs makes you feel almost sorry for her, if not for the years of emotional violence you've suffered under her hands. She scoffs at your arrival. "Came to take a gander at your work?"
You purse your lips. "I told you to run, Bonnie. That it didn't have to end this way,"
"and I'm going to prison today, right after they discharge me. And all I wanted was your love,"
You swallow. You're not falling for this again. "You don't want my love. You wanted somebody to control, but I outgrew you."
She chuckles dryly. "Why'd you do it, then? Why ask some psychiatrist to counsel me and shit if you hate me so much?"
"I don't need to like you to give you a helping hand, Bonnie. I'm a firefighter. I save lives,"
Bonnie doesn't answer. You tap the metallic edge of the bed railing with a nod, giving her a goodbye.
You exit her room, immediately bumping into Andy in her civilian clothes. You raise your eyebrows. "Andy? Why are you here?"
Andy shrugs. "I thought I'd find you here. I also heard they're gonna take your ex to jail,"
You nod with a small sigh. "I'm glad you're here,"
Andy gives you a small smile, hugging your sides. "Give you a ride back home?"
"perfect," you nod, content.
"but... You go first," Andy gives you her keys. "I have to use the bathroom,"
You nod, leaving grey sloan with Andy's car keys in hand.
Andy wordlessly watches you leave, and after your silhouette is well gone from the view, she enters Bonnie's hospital room.
Andy stops at the edge of her bed, getting an eyebrow raise out of Bonnie.
"so you're the girlfriend," Bonnie mutters amusedly.
"I'm not just the girlfriend," Andy exclaims, hands in her pockets. "I'm the girlfriend that's going to make her so unbelievably happy, that you will be nothing but a decade long bad dream,"
Bonnie scoffs.
Andy leans forward, no sort of sympathy in her eyes. "I hope you rot in jail."
And with that, Andy walks out of the hospital.
After a long while, Andy finally gets into the driver's seat, with you shotgun.
"took you long enough," you softly chuckle.
Andy shrugs. "I got a little side tracked,"
"ready to go home?" You ask her.
She nods. "I love you,"
"I love you too," you say it back without hesitation.
"let's go home." She smiles at you, and drives you both home.

Dixon gave these to me. You're not gonna love what's inside. I had some ideas about what to do with those but I figured Herrera's ideas will be betther than mine. It's Sullivan and Ross. We gotta go to the chief, right?

The excitement in the air was palpable as Carina Deluca drove side by side with you through the busy streets of Seattle. Your eyes reflected your longing to finally visit the fire station. Until now, however, your big sister's and her girlfriends hectic work schedule had always ruined your plans. But today was different. Today Carina would introduce you to a world that you had only heard about through the lively stories of her girlfriend Maya. The fascinating world of the brave firefighters from Station 19.
"Ci stiamo avvicinando, Bella. Sono così felice che tu possa finalmente incontrare tutti." (We're getting closer, Bella. I'm so happy you can finally meet everyone) Carina said with a bright look of anticipation and placed her hand reassuringly on your thigh. "I feel your excitement, y/n. Once you cross the station's threshold, you will be a part of them," she assured you with a warm smile.
The car stopped around the corner and you entered the fire station grounds shortly after. An atmosphere immediately surrounded you, permeated by hustle and courage. But at the same time, you could also feel an air of excitement and determination surrounding the people. It was like being immersed in a whirlwind of commitment and solidarity as the dull drone of work filled the air. Everyone who was here exuded an aura of determination, ready to face the challenges of the day. It was a place where every moment mattered, a place that embodied the essence of heroism and solidarity.
As you passed through the wide open gates of the guardhouse, you were greeted by a young woman who was bustling around the area with a radio in her hand. The sight of her was impressive - her face bore the marks of hard work, but her charisma was incomparable. It was Andy Herrera, the charismatic leader of Station 19. Her eyes were full of light as she kept an eye on the action on the premises. Every step she took seemed like an expression of leadership, and yet there was an aura of calm about her that immediately instilled confidence in everyone who met her. It was clear that she was a natural leader, ready to face any obstacle with unwavering courage.
"Carina! It's great to see you," Andy greeted her with a bright smile. Then her eyes fell on you lingered there for a slightly longer time. "And who do we have here?"
"This is my sister, y/n. She was invited by Maya to get an insight into what we do here," Carina explained proudly. Andy nodded friendly and held out her hand to you, which you accepted gratefully. "It's very nice to meet you, y/n. Welcome to Station 19," she said with a warmth in her voice that immediately put you at ease and made you feel like you were in exactly the right place.
Her charm had an irresistible attraction for you. You had never met anyone like her before - someone so confident and yet so caring. As you looked into her warm brown eyes, you felt something awaken within you that you had never felt before. It was as if her charisma ignited a hidden longing within you that had previously been lying dormant inside you, unnoticed. Every small gesture, every word of hers seemed to touch you and awaken your senses as you let yourself be captivated by her charisma. It was a moment of realization that this encounter with her was taking your life on an unforeseen but exciting new path.
While Carina and Andy were engaged in animated conversation, you felt enchanted. Your eyes couldn't leave the Spanish woman, and you were sure she noticed. But instead of feeling uncomfortable, you found comfort in the knowledge that Andy was just as attracted to you as you were to her. It was as if there was an invisible connection between you that was revealed in every look and every smile. The atmosphere around you seemed to change, and you felt a special energy building between you that fascinated and filled you at the same time. It was a moment of magic where the world around you seemed to stand still as you lost yourself in the eyes of the mesmerizing woman in front of you.
When Carina finally suggested getting Maya to explore the fire station with her, the spanish woman immediately took the opportunity to get to know you better. "I'll be happy to walk you through everything we do here," she offered enthusiastically, taking a few steps forward to signal that you should follow her.
A wide smile crossed your lips as you decided to follow her. "That would be amazing. I'm really excited to find out more," you replied eagerly.
As you strolled through the fire station together, Carina couldn't help but smile as she searched for her girlfriend. She felt that this encounter with Andy had the potential to change your life forever. It was as if the threads of fate were weaving around you both, leading you down a path full of surprises and new experiences.
ᕚ---ᕘ
The days passed and you kept finding a reason to visit the fire station, supposedly to see your "sister". But deep in your heart you knew that your real reason was something else: you wanted to see Andy again, the fire lieutenant who made your heart beat faster.
Andy quickly noticed that you were showing up more often than would be typical for a normal visit for your sister. Still, she always greeted you with a bright smile and always found an excuse to spend time with you. And the more time you spent together, the stronger the hidden feelings that grew between you.
You found yourself around them more and more often, be it at lunch with the entire team or in discussions about operational plans. You enjoyed watching her lead her team, burning with compassion and passion for her work.
Andy also couldn't deny that she was attracted to you anymore. There was something about you - your liveliness, your enthusiasm for life - that she couldn't ignore. She increasingly found herself staring at you when you talked to Maya or helped Carina with the supplies, as if trying to capture every nuance of your being, and she longed for the moments when she could be alone with you.
But despite the growing attraction between you, neither of you dared to reveal your true feelings. She feared the possible consequences of a relationship between her and her best friend's sister in law. So she kept her feelings under wraps, even though she felt more alive than ever around you.
One day, when you visited the fire station again, you found a rare moment of privacy. Together you sat next to each other on a bench on the roof terrace, surrounded by the calming silence of the evening and the soft city lights glowing on the horizon.
“Y/n, there’s something I’ve wanted to share with you for a while,” she began hesitantly, weighing her words carefully. You looked at her intently, your heart starting to beat faster. Had Andy finally found the courage to reveal her feelings?
"I... I really appreciate our time together," she continued, her eyes searching yours. “You’re special, y/n, and I feel really lucky that you’re here.”
A hint of disappointment washed over you as you realized she wasn't saying what you had hoped. But at the same time, you also felt relieved that she valued your presence as much as you valued hers. "Thank you, Andy. That means a lot to me," you replied sincerely, a hesitant smile crossing your lips.
You sat next to each other in silence for a while, enveloped in the evening and the unsaid words between you. But despite the words that remained unspoken, you both knew that there was something special between you, something that you couldn't ignore even if you wanted to. The atmosphere was charged with a suppressed tension that your hearts felt even if your mouths didn't say it.
A blaring, loud siren from the reporting station suddenly pierced the silence, breaking you out of your quiet moment. Both were frightened and Andy jumped up as the shrill sound blared through the air. She quickly gave you a kiss on the cheek and in that gesture, she paused for a moment, shocked at her rash action. "I'm sorry... I have to go. I'll see you again soon, yeah?"
You nodded, feeling the heat in your blushing cheeks. You too were overwhelmed by the gesture, but you tried not to show your excitement. While she disappeared through the exit and you saw the fire trucks drive away shortly afterwards, you also made your way home, unaware that something unexpected would happen that you had never imagined.
While working in a burning building, Andy suddenly found herself in a dangerous situation. An unstable structure collapsed and falling debris struck her. The team was eventually able to rescue her and bring her outside, but it was obvious that she was injured and needed to be taken to the hospital.
Using blue lights and sirens, Andy was taken by Warren and Hughes to Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, where doctors did everything they could to carefully examine her and make sure she had not suffered any serious injuries. Hours passed like years as they waited for news of her condition.
Finally, as the sun rose over the horizon, the good news came: Andy only suffered a concussion and a few bruised ribs. But the thought of what might have been if the injuries had been more serious made her shudder. She suddenly understood the preciousness of life and how quickly it could be over.
When Andy was finally released from the hospital, she didn't hesitate for a moment. After everything that had happened, she was determined to stop hiding her feelings. She knew she had to tell you how much she loved you before it was too late.
She made her way to your apartment, ignoring the pounding in her head and the doctor's orders to rest. Your heart was pounding as you opened the door and saw the tired, vulnerable look in her eyes. A stab of pain shot through your chest. "Andy, I'm so sorry you had to go through that. I can't even imagine what it's like when you..." you started, your voice cracking with emotion, but Andy cut you off, her eyes wide open yours resting without once letting go. "Kiss Me."
You looked at her in surprise, your eyes widening in amazement. "What do you mean, Andy?" You asked quietly, your voice barely above a whisper.
"Kiss me," she whispered again, biting her lip. The words hung heavy in the air, and for a moment time seemed to stand still between the two of you. "I love you, y/n. But I don't know if you feel the same. So if you do, finally kiss me."
A smile slowly broke across your face and you took a step towards her until you were close to each other. You placed your hands gently on her cheeks, pulling her towards you before your lips met. You felt her shoulders relax and her tense posture lessen as she too gently placed her hands around your neck and gave in to the kiss.
"Y/n... I love you," she said quietly, her voice still shaking. "I wanted to tell you before, but I was afraid. I've felt it since the moment I first saw you. And after everything that's happened, I know I have to tell you. I love you."
„I love you too, Andy.“ You spoke and in that moment, surrounded by the first rays of sunshine and the aftermath of a life almost lost, you finally found each other. The world seemed to stand still as your hearts united and you knew that this love would conquer all.
ᕚ---ᕘ
Six months had passed since you and Andy revealed your feelings for each other. During this time, you had kept your relationship a secret from her colleagues at Station 19 and your sister, for fear of possible consequences and not to compromise the professionalism of Andy's work. But despite your efforts, you couldn't hide your love, and your secret meetings were a small comfort in the midst of the hectic everyday life with different work shifts.
Today you had returned from your home country of Italy after your family asked you for help, and Andy couldn't wait to hold you in her arms again. The longing for you had become so great that she could hardly stand counting the hours until she would see you again after you had disappeared for almost a week.
When you finally stepped through the guard gates, she felt a wave of relief and excitement wash over her, and her heart began to take a flight. She immediately rushed to you as you greeted the others and talked to Carina about the situation in your home country, her hand reaching for yours as if she would otherwise lose you.
“Y/n, I missed you so much,” Andy whispered quietly as she pulled you into a more private setting, leaning her forehead against yours as you held onto each other. “I missed you too, Andy,” you replied, your voice full of affection. "It feels like an eternity has passed since we last saw each other. Even though it was only a week."
You spent the whole day being with your family on Station 19, catching Andy's stares and big smiles as you constantly lost yourself in each other, satisfying your longing for closeness and touch as best you could while you moved carefully around her team. But the attraction between you was so strong that it became increasingly difficult for you to hide your feelings. Every glance, every accidental touch seemed to electrify the air around you, and you both knew it was only a matter of time before your love would come to light.
But after the lunch break, when you both sat next to each other at the table and had lunch with the team, Andy could hardly suppress her longing for you. She had to feel you, touch you, kiss you. A wild rush of excitement ran through her heart as she dragged you with her by your shirt while you helped Travis with the dishes.
As soon as she closed the door behind her, you fell into each other's arms, your lips pressed together in a desperate attempt to outsmart time and capture the moment. You were so engrossed in your passion that you didn't notice how the door slowly opened and two figures walked into the room.
Only when you heard the sound of a thick throat clearing did you break apart and turned around to see who had disturbed you. To your surprise, Maya and Carina stood in front of you, their faces a look of shock and surprise.
"What... what the fuck?" Maya stammered, her eyes wide but a mischievous grin gracing her lips. Carina was speechless, her hand pressed to her mouth as she took in the scene before her. "Andy, what are you doing with my sister?" She finally managed, her voice barely above a whisper.
Andy and you looked at each other, your heartbeat raging in your ears. Both of you had no idea what to say, how to explain this unexpected revelation to your sister, and you recognized the panic welling up in your girlfriend. The situation suddenly became complicated and full of unpleasant surprises, and you had to decide how you would deal with it.
As your sister's words filled the room, the spanish woman felt a pang of fear in her heart. Andy knew that her relationship with you didn't live up to the expectations your sister might have had for you, but she had hoped that Carina would accept it. But when she saw her sister's angry look, she feared the worst.
“Y/n, cosa ne pensi?" (Y/n, what are you thinking?) Carina continued, her voice trembling with indignation. "Lei è molto più vecchia di te! Questo... non è giusto! (She's much older than you. That's... that's just not right)
You looked at your sister calmly, your eyes momentarily lowered to the blonde who was standing next to her, smiling and intertwining her fingers with the Italian woman's. "Carina, mi dispiace che tu abbia reagito così, ma amo Andy. E l'età non conta quando si tratta di amore.“ (Carina, I'm sorry you reacted like that, but I love Andy. And age doesn't matter when it comes to love)
Andy felt your support and warming hand on her shoulder, even if she didn't understand exactly what you were saying, and felt strengthened in that moment. She knew it would possibly be a long road for your sister to accept their relationship, but she was determined to fight for your love.
Before Carina could protest again, Maya suddenly laughed loudly, a sound that permeated the room and broke the tension. "Oh, Carina, what's so bad about it? The most important thing is that they're both happy," Maya said between fits of laughter and received a silent glare from Carina who kept her arms crossed under her chest.
The brunette looked at her girlfriend, but then she noticed the look of calm on Maya's face and her words slowly sank in. Maybe she was right and it didn't matter what age difference you had as long as you were happy and Andy didn't hurt you in any kind of way.
Carina slowly let go of her anger and a smile spread across her face. "You're right, Maya. I should be happy that my sister found someone she loves so much. I'm just... surprised, that's all."
You felt a wave of relief wash over you. You had feared that your relationship with Andy would cause a fight between you, but now that Carina gave her consent, she could finally breathe a sigh of relief. It was a moment of reconciliation and understanding that strengthened your bond as sisters.
“Thank you, Carina,” you said quietly, a sigh of relief escaping your lips as your eyes shone with gratitude. "This really means a lot to me."
Carina nodded and held out her arms, which you sank into after you pulled away from Andy and hugged your sister tightly. "I love you, y/n. And I'm glad you're happy. Ma se Andy ti fa del male, la ucciderò.“ (But if Andy hurts you, I'll kill her)
A giggle escaped you and the atmosphere in the room changed. From tension and conflict to love and acceptance. But then, out of nowhere, as the four of you walked out of the locker room together, the blonde started laughing again, and Carina joined her in putting her arm around her shoulders.
"Oh, you two lovebirds! I can't believe we caught you making out!" Maya teased, tears of mirth in her eyes. "I feel like I've been blown back in time. It's like high school."
Carina joined in, and together they began to tease Andy and you, their words full of warmth and joy. And as you both rolled your eyes together and smiled at each other, your hands clasped tightly together, you knew that you would be paying for hiding your relationship from your sister and Andy's best friend for a very long time. But in that moment, everything was forgotten except the love that radiated between you.
