People are adept rationalizers, so insecure people seeking control are good at coming up with a rational account of what the other person has done wrong.

question: do ppl ACTUALLY say things they don’t mean when they’re angry? or is that just an excuse after letting something true slip? i wouldn’t ever say something i don’t mean in anger, so the concept confuses me.
but something was said to me that is bothering me, though apparently was said in an argument and wasn’t meant. but i don’t rlly believe it wasn’t like, deep down true thoughts/feelings??? anyone have any insight? anyone say things they don’t mean in anger?
EDIT: this was a hastily worded post that i didn’t expect to get notes. this is a genuine question asked in good faith that i got a lot of amazing answers to!
also re: the many ppl saying “OP is lying about not saying things they don’t mean in anger because everyone does it”— i genuinely have never done that. if i say something mean while angry, i meant it. that’s literally why i asked this question and why the concept confuses me, because i wouldn’t do something like that so i wanted perspective from people who do it. idk why y’all can’t believe that lmao not everyone is as prone to anger and outbursts

Was it so hard to do all of this amazing promo that is happening with Percy Jackson cast now for Lockwood&Co?? Silly interviews, watch parties, photoshoots... don't get me wrong, I love both so much, but I'm so bitter. It's unfair.

im listening to old fnaf songs again and just got reminded that i never really expressed my opinion about the fnaf movie because i stopped doing fnaf content so here is my full opinion where the fuck was phone guy. like im so serious right now, where was he. words cant describe how disappointed i was that he wasn't in the opening of the movie saying 'hello hello' like what were they thinking they can ruin the original trilogy of the games, they can ruin purple guy, they can ruin everything that fnaf was, but they cant fucking do this to phone guy 😭 dont give me excuses or reasons why he wasnt in the movie i do not care!!! there are no excuses for this!!!!! "oh but william was like the phone guy cause he had the phone and-" NO SHUT UP i wish i could've enjoyed the movie more, but im dead serious when i say phone guy not being in it killed the experience for me, they better redeem themselves by putting him in the second film i feel insane because no one else is talking about this as far as i've seen, where are my phone guy fans please tell me i'm not alone

spillways really is THAT song for me. like the whole “fuck forgiveness let yourself be bitter and you’re allowed to feel that way AND it’s okay to be angry and even though you try to bury that shit deep inside of you and move on IT’S OKAY TO LET IT OUT and be PISSED” vibe of the song hits directly home. that shit really does just resonate so much with my trauma

You can outgrow that behaviors from your past that you regret. You can change, you can go to therapy, work on yourself, and surround yourself with people who choose kindness and compassion. You can learn to express yourself through new means, instead of yelling or physical violence, you can learn to respond with thoughtful words and action. You are allowed to have space to change and become a new person. Don’t let your shame hold you back.

fr tho i do think there’s this really interesting contrast where, on the one hand, john is literally in a 10,000 year long revenge quest against long dead billionaires. but when the sluts are duplicitous he’s really just like. cries in bed about it lol.

Grudges are a terribly heavy burden to carry through your life. -- Michael Lipsey

Grief, and the helplessness it typically brings with it, are usually not well addressed by allowing anger to take the center of the stage. All too often, anger becomes an alluring substitute for grieving, promising agency and control when one’s real situation does not offer control… The way to deal with grief is just what one might expect: mourning and, eventually, constructive forward-looking action to repair and pursue one’s life.

The compelling thing about Jason as a character is that I never doubted that he cared about the world just because there weren’t panels of him being overly zealous about “restorative community care”
I’m not coming after anyone who wants to see that kind of stuff, but I do think seeking | that | as confirmation that Jason cares about the world is pretty narrow
#shoving an arc like that into his comics to “show he cares about people”#after having him repeatedly say things like “nothing I ever did was for good. it was all just selfish anger” in recent comics#would be the final nail in the “see! he's redeeming himself! he CAN be likable!” coffin (pathetic)#it's literally what his antis have been suggesting would make his character “so much better”#kelseethe#see also: “people would have a hard time knowing whether Jason loves them”#why did he gift Thomas' watch to Bruce all those years later + possibly even after utrh happened#why is he always silently forgiving the shitty treatment from his family almost like he wants to maintain some sort of relationship w/ them#as for “showing that he cares about the world”#the most obvious “evidence” is right there#why would he continue to fight tooth and nail to have a place in Gotham as a vigilante#both warding off and enduring harassment after harassment from Bruce while hearing the same message every time#“hey. you're doing this to yourself. you can make it all go away if you just do as I say and quit for good.”#“you'll even get to be my son again”#it’s not like he gets recognition/praise for doing what he does either unlike Bruce Dick or Tim#what could possibly be in it for him#wouldn't it be that much easier to “not give a crap about the world” on a beach in Capri instead of in the Gotham sewers every month#anyway Jason should decapitate rapists and poison more child traffickers and not cry about it five seconds after

Is there a cat in cannon who got a good death who you think didn't deserve it? Especially if they committed crimes?
Tom the Wifebeater and his redemption death. No question. It's not even close.
Not only do I reject to the "redemption death" on the grounds of it being Tom the Wifebeater who is bullying others until his dying breath, even taunting Thunder about Turtle Tail is dead and the kits must be very torn up about it, but I reject "redemption through death" entirely. I don't like it in stories. It's a theme I deeply object to.
And again it's fucking wild that every time a character is a father, even if they are a wifebeater or a child abuser, the writers think that it bestows a glimmer of goodness into them which every abused child is forced to appreciate and cry about. Breezepelt, Thunder, Tallstar, Tom's children, all of them forced to reconcile and admit how much they wuv their papa.
Abusive dads in WC regularly get redemption deaths, too. Clear Sky dies saving his grandchild, Sandgorse died saving a rando in a tunnel, Tom the Wifebeater saving his daughter.
But Tom the Wifebeater is the worst example of it. Hands down.
