ok so Kang and Michelle Pfeiffer definitely explored each other’s bodies on that little quantum farm🤨🤨 “a woman has needs” yeah and have you seen Jonathan Majors?

People: Cassie Lang should date Peter Parker in MCU.
Me, knowing she dated teen Kang in the comics: You guys have no idea how to have fun.

Honestly, I only wanted one thing from Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania. Just one. And that was father/daughter fanservice with Scott and Cassie. The best part of Scott’s character (in my opinion, ya’ll) is his love for his little girl.
90% of the movie was father/daughter fanservice and I was so there for it. Loved Protective Ant-Dad. Loved Cassie kicking ass. Loved their hugs. Even Cassie calling Hank “grandpa” was a nice bonus.
So, yes. I was satisfied with the movie and I liked it. All I wanted and needed was that father/daughter material.
Family bonds FTW.

“Ant-Man 3 was a bad movie” Yeah, because it wasn’t an Ant-Man movie, it was a transition/set-up movie for the rest of Marvel and their next phase. If they hadn’t tried so hard and pushed to set up what comes next, then they could have made a good movie. They’re too focused on trying to make more movies that they’ve forgotten the importance of making a good movie now.

Absolutely terrified to engage in fandom on Thursday after seeing Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. The last time an MCU movie dropped and I engaged in fandom, y'all attacked the shit outta me. Y'all was telling me I hated my own people and shit 😭
Legit terrified. This fandom used to be more chill, but goddamn, after the Wakanda Forever week of terror, I dunno. Y'all better be nice to me. I'm just trying to enjoy the things, I'm just trying to have fun.

While on our way to see Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 This week we did do some pick-ups starting with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania on 4K and there was only a few left! I do have to say I am a lil disappointed that was was no Slip case for it but anyway we then also picked up Max Fleischer's Superman on regular Blu-ray! I enjoyed Quantumania I thought it was pretty good and I was waiting for the Superman thing I have it on DVD but was thinking of replace that with this

A Review of “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023)”
Tumblr media
Who would've thought that a hero called "Ant-Man" would succeed in a trilogy? I massively enjoyed the first one but found the second one to be quite forgettable. I loved the idea of smaller stake stories for Ant-Man films. It was a little surprising to hear that Ant-Man 3 would have bigger stakes as I didn't find this to suit the character. Is this a good entry for the little guy or quantum garbage?
Tumblr media
The greatest highlight of this film is the antagonist, Kang the Conqueror, played by Jonathan Majors. Kang is fearsome and menacing with a terrific performance by Jonathan that reminds me of Darth Vader. He steals the show in every scene, to the point that I was actually rooting for him. I am also glad that his performance is vastly different to the variant we saw in the Loki (2021) show. I can't wait to see more of Kang in the future! In terms of performance, I also enjoyed seeing more of Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet van Dyne. She was barely in the second Ant-Man film but here she is front and centre. She shines in her performance and perfectly illustrates the guilt and fear her character is experiencing. Paul Rudd is still charming and charismatic as Scott Lang. His relationship with his daughter Cassie (Kathryn Newton) is still the main core of his character. We get to see 'some' serious moments with his character which was nice to see.
Tumblr media
Another thing I liked was the overall design of the Quantum Realm. The world and the living beings in the Quantum Realm were interesting. It had a very Star Wars/Mad Max feel to it with the blend of sci-fi, deserts and alien-like creatures. The 3rd act of the movie is also quite entertaining. For the most part, it's a giant CGI battle with lots of things happening on screen but it is fun to watch. I especially loved seeing Kang in action because we get to see how much of a beast he is compared to previous villains.
Tumblr media
However, the writing is very weak. There are a lot of silly dialogues that just made me roll my eyes. It doesn't help that for some reason Marvel is still doing forced unnecessary humour. If this story is meant to be higher stakes then make it serious! The quips get overly repetitive. The first half is a little dull too with minimal interesting things happening. It doesn't take until over halfway through the movie to actually see Kang. Additionally, the ending was disappointing. It is very bland and safe which is a shame as this film could've delivered a shocking and memorable ending. This movie is also meant to build up hype for the next Avengers film but that ending fails to do even that.
Tumblr media
MODOK is also in this film and it is a pointless addition. Not only do they change the character completely from their comic counterpart, but their role in the story is also absolutely irrelevant. Could take them out of the story and nothing will change. Despite the film being called Ant-Man and the Wasp, both Scott Lang and Hope feel like side characters in their own film. They have no character development and are just kind of there for the ride. Janet is more of a main character than them. I also don't like this trend in these recent Marvel films of Marvel characters looking out for these young characters. Cassie is the next in this trend and is also an annoying character like many of them before. I think Kathryn Newton is fine in her role but her character just isn't written well to be likeable enough for me to care. This is also a very CGI-heavy film and for the most part, it is okay but there are definitely times when it looks rough. The editing, especially during action sequences, can be really bad. They tend to do too many quick cuts during action sequences and for some reason use the shaky cam in 2023!
Tumblr media
Overall, Ant-Man 3 is a bit disappointing. There was a lot of potential for this to be something great but the execution is quite poor. This isn't a great start to Phase 5 and I am getting worried about the future of the MCU. They need to do a better job at making people hyped for the next Avengers-level threat as this film isn't making me think this is a threat equal to or better than Thanos. I'm hoping future Marvel films start building up this new threat because they need to show us that this new threat is worthy of our attention.

ant-man & the wasp: quantumania
i’ll be honest, there are only 2 things keeping me from completely hating this movie:
1. scott and agent woo finally going on their dinner date (only to have it paid for by the #1 ghost hunter in the world ryan bergara)
B. jonathan majors’ performance as kang (though his career has pretty much been torpedoed at this point)
otherwise, it’s kind of disappointing, especially cuz i enjoyed the other ant-man movies
lip service is made yet again to the aftermath of the snap/blip without it having any actual effect on the world or plot (hey remember the sokovia accords? those haven’t had any major changes on the world either!)
the quantum realm is very muted and dark. most of the cool visuals that should’ve been bright or standout more are just bland. that’s what happens when you make your VFX teams crunch under tight deadlines without proper compensation and frankly we need to speak up more about it. fuck disney/marvel for this
as previously stated, kang was the best part of this. jonathan majors could’ve been the next tom hiddleston as far as i’m concerned, a popular villian actor that nails the character so well he’d have staying power. unfortunately, with the recent events and allegations of domestic violence, it seems highly unlikely he’ll be returning to the role.
one of the best parts of the other ant-man movies is that scott is trying his best to be a good dad despite his circumstances and has a good, healthy co-parenting relationship with his ex and her new husband. judy greer and bobby cannavale do not make an appearance at all in this film, and the idea of scott being a bad dad for even a second is less than appealing to me.
evangeline lily is an anti-vax plague rat licker and i can’t look at her the same way again. super goddamn disappointing to be sure
michelle pfeiffer and michael douglas continue to be a delight
i miss the 3 wombats
i say this punintentionally and emphatically: ant-man works better on a smaller scale when the problems are contained to his life and not as a set-up for larger shit down the line in the mcu

Ant-man 3 is proof Marvel's peak has come and gone.
<Spoilers, but I am doing you a favor. Read this; do not watch it.>
-Should have been called 'Ant-man deals with his daughter who has Tony Stark's brains, but teenage hormones.' Cuz the Wasp is in it as much as her fucking parents, so she's not the headliner, and not till the end does it even really feel like they super focused on Ant-man.
-His daughter was practically the lead, and it feels like stupid hawkeye; they're trying to give the next generation a spin, pass the baton when....we can just call it. Make up new heroes. She was boring. Not a thing interesting about her or stood out. Seriously: give me 3 adjectives to describe her that make her different from everyone in the movie. Smart? Determined? Heroic? You mean EVERYONE in the movie?
-BTW: why the FUCK is EVERYONE a super genius now? The mini tony stark in black panther 2, ant-man's daughter when...she's just a fucking kid. From a thief and a regular person; why is she so smart!? Ant-man is kinda a fucking idiot. Genetics DOES come to play. 'Hank taught her in her spare time.' WHY? But ok. COOL. I was great at math, A's, then I met calculus and no one could teach me. Not everyone can be taught HOW TO MAKE A MINI VERSE SATELLITE! I just...why can't heroes be heroic and mindful? Smart people don't need powers to help...
-Ant-man movies always kinda sucked (compared to other heroes). Ant-man is funny, but...his powers are boring, and there are limited things you can do with them. Big, small, woot. They were good because of the special effects (fight at the end of 1. Car chase in 2.) But now ALL CGI ALL THE TIME?! No real sets? Ew. And you cut his crew? The FUNNIEST parts of the first 2 ant-man movies? Because Hank and his wife were that important in ANT MAN and the WASP being they are not either of those?
-Fairly, Thor 4 was a trash pile so unforgettable it somehow made Thor 3 look bad because it had similar tones. So thor started this fall from grace, but ant man 3 was the nail in the coffin. Thank god; let it rest.
-Ant-man 3 is not the funniest, the most original, or at all got a good hook. I am not fucking around: There is not a single fucking thing that surprised me in this movie. Even Mordok being the villain from the first movie (sorry). Why? BECAUSE I DIDN'T EVEN FUCKING CARE! NO ONE DOES! Mordok, his origin, arc, and ending is the largest isolated incident of failure to watch for. He/it it so fucking bland and pathetic. The trailer IS the whole movie. Or at least the best parts...
-I feel bad cuz the end of loki, kang seemed like he would be a GREAT bad guy (LOVE the actor. Watch Lovecraft Country if you have not. AMAZING. A great stand alone season), but in this movie, he is such a fucking 1 dimensional basic bitch, he stands out from no villain. And I know THAT Kang was a different one, but the difference was (hint) BETTER WRITERS!!!! Even tho the loki kang was all monologue, it was at least fun. Chaotic. This Kang is like thanos, without ANY proper motivation but control. CONQUEROR. Who cares? Bad guy #3671 step up, get knocked down. Don't get back up again. No different or better than Justice League.
-And they did the 'save it all from grace from outta no where' endings. Summary: hyper intelligent ants went into the quantum realm with them, but experiences millions of years of evolution (why the ants and not them? Fuck if I know. And how did the ants get back to the cast? WE NEVER KNOW!), and they come to fight kang on behalf of hank in the end. I could do crack, acid, and meth and that still wouldn't fucking make sense to my brain. I guess it was the only way they could keep the word ant in the title cuz they come to play NEVER anywhere else.
None of this movie matters. Worst ant man. Def top 10 worst marvel movies (of recent. Not all time).
'Ant-man and the trailer that gave it all away, 3': 2/10.
Best part? All of them are in the trailer. No worries.
<Side note: what the FUCK is with the inconsistent powers? Ant-man: Big and small (NO FLY yet). Wasp: Flying and Small (NO BIG). Daughter: Small, no flying (tho AFTER the wasp's suit was made) and, oh wow, I can hack this at the perfect time, I can go big now! Why would you not make a suit with it ALL for EVERYONE? The fuck you thinking? I know: it will be more dramatic (but stupid as fuck logically.)>

Honestly, one of my favourite scenes from Ant-Man 3 is when all the different Scotts started making a hill and pulling Scott up so he could get to Cassie. And I loved how they were saying stuff like: “Let him through!” “Pull him up!” so on.
And I was like: “Yeah, go get your baby girl!” (not out loud of course because I have some theatre manners lmao)

Review: Ant-Man and the Wasp - Quantumania
“Scott Lang and Hope Van Dyne, along with Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne, explore the Quantum Realm, where they interact with strange creatures and embark on an adventure that goes beyond the limits of what they thought was possible.” So this movie is the third in the Ant-Man series of films, and it honestly might be the worst one. Truly on a whole this movie is a big mixed bag. No pun intended,…
