@katoska Absolutely agree 100% - and I'd like to take that one step further.

The efficiency excuse has nothing to do with the crew at all certainly and it never did. Because it *isn't* the *crew's* efficiency that is being affected; it's Isaac's.

Isaac is the one having challenges processing Claire's daily absence; Isaac is the one who made a calculation error (which should not be possible) when he and Claire broke up the first time; Isaac is the one who - this season anyway - is having a lot more trouble clearly expressing himself without pausing between his words; Isaac is the one who started questioning the Kaylon Primary's actions after it began to fully sink in that Ty loved him (which - again - for a machine part of a hive mind, should not be possible which indicates malfunction - that also makes his reaction to Ty's saying that they love him all the more important because it's a very visible "Aha" moment for him; *that's* why) and disobeyed a direct order (*again* a machine getting a command and disregarding that command independently) when he recognized that Ty was in danger; Isaac who jumps into the conversation about Topa that has nothing to do with him and offers his assistance when Claire's career and "wellbeing" is on the line; and Isaac is the one who came about his "logical conclusion" to end his own life after he found out not only that it was Marcus who was scared of him - who hated him and wanted nothing to do with him and wrote Murderer on the wall - but that he wished he were dead and says it to his face.

But you'd think no because Marcus also indicated that *no one* on board liked him or wanted him around. But the long and short of it is that Isaac never seemed to care about that before because, bluntly, it did not affect him in any way. It's literally water off a duck's back.

Isaac didn't seem to care much at all when he was being harassed by other members of the crew, or people were leaving when he sat down with them, or whispering about him, or figured that writing was from someone else. He says himself that it'd been happening for a long time. He didn't really seem to care when Charly said what she said to him. When Bortus told him he was happy he wasn't like him, Isaac took in stride. He had no problems before cutting people off or interacting with them bluntly or unintentionally insulting them (though again to him that's really nothing personal- he's an Arificial Lifeform and, like Ed said, they really did and do have an issue with projecting things onto him). The only time crew efficiency in relation to him ever mattered was when *Marcus* indicated it was so. When Claire started taking notice. When Ty gave his assurance that he didn't think badly of him. And, most importantly, when all of that full circled and made it so *his* efficiency decreased. Because Isaac may not care much about everything or everyone else, but he does care about the Finn family.

Isaac - for all intents and purposes- does not understand or recognize what it means to have one's feelings hurt or experience upset because he has no point of comparison. His systems malfunctioning and rearranging his subroutines and decreasing their own efficiency are, most likely, their own way of processing these new experiences (think as though when your stomach hurts or chest tightens when you are upset or anxious). Isaac's (very human like impulse I might add) is to look for outside sources to blame when he doesn't understand what's happening to him. He doesn't associate these errors with "emotion" because, as far as he is aware, it's not possible for him to experience these things. So he turns to the outside - it must be the crew's efficiency that is being affected, not the other way around.

Bottom line? His connection with the Finns rewrote his programming to the point where Isaac is getting his mechanical feelings hurt and affected so strongly that he doesn't know what to do about it. So he turns to outside excuses to try and rationalize why he "feels" the way he does and is doing what he is doing. Otherwise there is no logical explanation - he just loves them and that, as far as he is aware, is not possible for an Artificial Lifeform.

Ninjago Dragons Rising Season Two News! Sets and Plot Info!

HELLO EVERYONE! I have some great info for you guys on the new Dragons Rising Sets and Seasons! I worked REALLY hard on this article, so I hope you all enjoy it. There's a lot to talk about so let's just jump in. Below the cut. SPOILERS!!!

Our Sources for all this info are these two interviews here.

Now, let's get started.

First off, the mechs. The third wave will be for Part Two of Season Two! The mechs have interchangeable parts. So you may mix and match different sets to build your own mechs. The suits in the first wave the Ninjas are wearing are called the mech suits. There are only for when they are specifically in their mechs. They wanted to make sure everyone had a mech suit. So even though Zane doesn't have a mech, he got one anyway. The mechs did best in testing. They aren't as relevant to the story as the other sets.

There is also a short series coming that will showcase Sora building the mechs from the first wave. (It's important to note, that since there is a Cole mech, perhaps we can expect to see him in the shorts.👀) Also, Cole's golem form from the show was based off an early version of this Cole Mech.

I heard people asking why Sora and Arin haven't gotten any new suits yet. This has been addressed. The reason is Sora hasn't gotten a new suit since she's only been present for one wave. This means she might eventually get new variants. On a side note, Arin had a new hood now. Maybe not a full new suit, but hey. It's a start!

Also, there is a new sword Lego piece. So if any of you guys for some reason collect Lego weapons, nows the time to add to your collection. Lol.

And the dragon in the Wyldefyre set is just called a Source Dragon. It's not actually one. This is possibly for marketing. On more thing to remember is that there will be January, March, Summer set wave. So more sets ARE coming.

Now, the villains. Cinder is confirmed to be the new Elemental Master of Smoke! The designers don't know if Cinder is actually Ash. Or what happened to Ash. We can only assume we'll find out in time.

Second, the wolf army and Lord Ras! The wolf army is called the Wolf Clan. Ras's wolf warriors are humans in Wolf Masks. Not werewolves or anthromophic wolves. It is also interesting to note that The people that worked on Chima worked on designing the Wolf Warriors. And the Wolf Mech is based on a scrapped Nexo Knights Malware Wolf model.

Now for Ras, we now know that Ras's Shadow Dojo is located in a place called The Shadow Forest. It's where he uses the BloodMoon's power. The Gong of Shattering is apparently ANOTHER tool Ras uses to power/command his wolf army.

As for this Shadow Forest, the designer stated that the highly anticipated climbing suits will be for when they are climbing in the forest.

Last but no least, we have Egalt. The Master Dragon Not much is said about him other than he will take on a mentor role, much like Master Wu.

For our last topic, we have this very exciting news about Pixal! She has been confirmed by the designer to be returning to the series! Her name is on the storyboards and everything!💜🤍💜🤍💜🤍💜🤍

The Marda clan's origin myth, and the significance of winter, the moon, and the pine tree

My brain's a little scrambled right now so this won't be very well-written just a thought dump bc I've talked about this before in replies of some posts and stuff, ow my head.

So the clan's origin myth begins with someone named Araya.

Or rather, something named Araya.

You see, the divine has had beef with humanity for a good long while now, and decides a little genocide can purge out the world and leave some good god-fearing mortals behind to start anew or something. And so they sent a weapon, an agent of destruction, hoping that humanity would show its ugly side to that destroyer and prompt them to hate humanity and proceed to go all murder-happy on them.

Said agent of destruction was Araya.

Araya landed on the mortal plane, in some buttfuck of nowhere random forest, and gets taken in by a grandma and raised as her grandchild in a village.

(raised is somewhat of a loose term as Araya doesn't age but we'll get to that later)

Under her careful guidance, Araya instead comes to love humanity instead, and decides to go against the divine to protect humans. Kind of. They just wanted to live peacefully and happily in their quaint little village but it got destroyed with everyone inside murdered and so they're kicked off onto a journey where they meet lots of people go on quests and adventures blah blah blah and they stubbornly remain loving and protective over humanity.

The gods are, predictably, rather pissed at Araya and tries to kill them or bring them back to their side bc they were the gods' favourite creation/toy/whatever but Araya keeps stubbornly resisting and is eventually forced to flee into the far remote northlands where the sun does not rise for several months straight or does not set for several months straight, somewhere the gods won't think to look.

This is the ancestral/mythical homeland of the Marda people, originated by Araya and their band of disciples who settled in on this island.

Eventually though Araya finally dies— they thought it was impossible, they've been living for thousands of millennia by this point, they've lost track of time and years and were functionally immortal so this came as a surprise to everyone.

When Araya dies, one of their closest companions/disciples, a healer, couldn't deal with the grief and tries to bring them back, and fails.

But what they did end up achieving was creating a pine tree, pure white and iridescent, straight as a lance and tall as mountains, to spontaneously manifest and bury Araya's body to rest in its roots— imbued with so much magic it becomes capable of making its surroundings a forest despite the island being located in the Arctic circle, and thus becoming the first “heart tree” or “moon tree” that protects and nurtures the “moonswoods” around it.

The concept of the heart tree was based on the real biological concept of trees and plants sending signals and nutrients to each other via the mycorrhizal fungi network that connects their roots, and the somewhat anthromophized/mythologized “matriarch tree” concept where the oldest, largest tree in the forest provides nutrients to the younger plants regardless of species to keep them alive. I got inspired by it, and this delivers the themes of community and cooperation and closeness with nature etc etc. I also plan on making like, explaining real scientific phenomena w like fantasy magic spiritual jargon in this AU so like that's fun.

So that's the pine tree down.

The moon? Remember how I said Araya had to run from the gods? The Marda people believe that Araya is represented by the moon and the reason the moon has phases is because it (Araya) is constantly running from the gods so it had to disguise itself regularly to escape the gods' notice.

It also ties in with the idea that spirits and stuff awaken or are more powerful at night, and nights are longest in winter (the ancient island experiences Polar Nights, remember, the sun literally does NOT rise for MONTHS), and the moon is free to reign free in the sky so moon -> night -> spirits -> winter -> moon. The moon also controls the tides and everything, and since the origin homeland was an island that's kinda important.

Also, the clan comes to live in the northern part of Pars (Mazandaran) that has a coastline of the Darband Inland Sea, so the ocean connection stayed intact even after Kaykhusraw's betrayal causing them to flee inland faraway from the seas.

So... yeah.

My 2,200th fic on AO3! Yay! I figured I'd try a new fandom for it, The Sandman, and see how it goes. An answer to prompt 22 of the 30 Day Writing Challenge (Write for 15 minutes without deleting anything)

Craving Something Warm - Lucienne thinks some heavy thoughts about humanity and warmth.

Morpheus was cold to the touch. He looked human, albeit really pale, but in the Dreaming, he was paler, nearly chalk white, and his skin was ice cold.

That was probably why Lucienne enjoyed their forays into the waking world so much.

The chill never bothered her; she, too, was nearly as cold as ice, but the Dreaming was a cold place. It wasn’t as though she was a creature of warmth freezing her arse off. But when she was in the waking world, it reminded her of when she was Eve, the mother of all mankind. It reminded her she’d had a purpose and a place and a history.

Not that she didn’t have them now as Lucienne the Librarian, but the scope had been bigger.

Sometimes she’s look in on the humans as they slept, the people who were all related to her in some way or another. And she’d see the love they felt towards others, the hate, the horror caused by the nightmares who had run rampant for far too long. They lived, the loved, they felt.

And then she would really feel cold again, and the tears of jealousy that slid down her face, however briefly, would freeze before they dropped. She missed being human sometimes, but there was nothing to do about it now. She had a duty of care to Morpheus, to make sure the Dreaming stood tall amidst all the changes going on all over the universe, and it was important.

But she missed the chance to be human and imperfect and small in the scope of the universe at large.

Morpheus didn’t understand. He had been an anthropomorphic being his entire existence. He tried, he did, and she was grateful for that. That was part of the reason she would never leave his side, no matter how much she craved to be human again. He had her heart, her being, and if he asked for it or ever needed it, her life. Her entire existence was wrapped around him now, and he was the center of her world. So when they could go into the world of the waking, holding hands, and she could feel warmth coursing through her veins and feel him be less cold, it was almost enough. It was just enough to keep her going until the inevitable end of all things.

I'm saying this as someone who's dedicated five years of my life volunteering with animals and as someone who doesn't eat meat. If you wanna know about why tumblr hates "vegan activism", I imagine they're the same reasons I do; the majority of it comes from a very white population with an even more white framework. Like extremely white. The rampant racism on an active level (ESPECIALLY towards indigenous people, if I see one more person try to ban seal hunting for Inuit I will shank someone; likewise as a Jew I'm going to spit on the next person who compares eating meat to the holocaust), ableism, a severe lack understanding of animal psychology/biology and the anthromophization of animations that puts our projected feelings over their wellbeing, ableism, classism, a SEVER SEVERE lack of understanding how many 'cruelty free' materials are actually worse for animals and it's not even close (shearing sheep doesn't hurt them shearing sheep doesn't hurt them shearing sheep doesn't hurt them please GOD there's so much microplastics), the absolutely MASSIVE amount of misinformation that's shared uncritically, the harassment and attacks of local farms (not factory farms, I mean actual small scale farms), etc. I'm not saying Every Vegan Ever is guilty of this, but I AM saying it's a MASSIVE problem.

Like. Nothing wrong with being vegan. But to act like veganism, even in its most umproblematic form, is THE unanimous solution for everyone or even for most people is just, objectively wrong, and I'm tired of people acting otherwise. Food, animal welbeing, and the environment are more complicated than that. I really want you to understand that a lot of criticism towards vegan activism is coming from impoverished individuals and/or POC, myself included. ESPECIALLY listen to indigenous voices when it comes to criticism of vegan activism. I'm imploring you as a white person to please listen to POC when we make criticisms. If we want to make progress with environmentalism, animal welfare, and food scarcity, veganism has to be an option, not the end goal.

I hear you, and it was never my intention to imply there weren't any problems with vegan activism. I just feel like this particular form of activism gets a disproportionate amount of hate on this site compared to others that are also not without issues.

I'd have more to say about this, but sorry, my brain has been absolutely fried by heat and I can't seem to figure out how to string together English words at the moment.
