“Harry was also abused but he didn't turn into Snape”
This argument is likely, once again, to blame Snape. With a speech that sounds a lot like: "Harry also had a bad childhood, but he didn't become like Snape, he could have chosen to be good too" Do we really want to compare them? Let's go in order, I partly understand where this phrase comes from. Harry and Snape are in similar situations as children, as is Tom Riddle. Recluses in the Muggle world, poor, halfblood, misunderstood, treated badly by parents and peers etc... The similarity is fitting up to a certain point and fascinating BUT from the age of 11 onwards it no longer holds.
When Harry arrives at school he is no longer poor, he discovers that he has a mountain of gold left by his parents, to put it in a refined way: he is filthy rich. Snape never will be. Once Harry arrives at school he makes friends with Ron and other Gryffindors, makes positive friendships, is welcomed by the Weasleys, and finds people ready to protect him. Snape, on the other hand, had only one true friend (we will return to this point in the next chapters), Lily. Everyone else in his house wasn't really friends with him and had a bad influence on him over the years. He never had the support of teachers or other responsible adults. No one ever defended him, in fact he was heavily bullied for years in the place where he should have welcomed him and no teacher, no one defended him. Indeed he was blamed.
The similarities between the two disappear once they arrive at Hogwarts, Harry is famous and popular, Snape is not. Harry is respected, Snape is not. Harry has real friends, Snape doesn't. Harry has people protecting him, Snape doesn't.
So out of the love I have for Morgana, let's avoid making comparisons that don't hold up. If and I mean IF Snape had found himself in the exact same situation as Harry perhaps he wouldn't have become who he became and vice versa. Harry found support, if he had been alone, bullied and marginalized he would have made decisions and a different path.
I'm putting all the Snaters' false accusations into a Wattpad collection, if you have any other points not yet covered let me know in the comments or privately COLPE e MERITI - G. Monti E. - Wattpad

It was a long time ago that he was able to sleep. There were times, he had to fight with himself to stay awake, because Dumbledore wanted to see him over and over again...
Now, after many things left behind, he is able to have peaceful nights without any hint of nightmares. On weekends he often stays nearly all the time in bed and he only gets up to make coffee or tea. He reads a lot, but no books about magic. The only magical thing at his side is his wand, but this one is not really in use.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Chapter 5 | An Excess of Phlegm
"Harry read the parchment through several times, his breathing becoming easier with each reading. It was all right: He had always known that he would fail Divination, and he had had no chance of passing History of Magic, given that he had collapsed halfway through the examination, but he had passed everything else! He ran his finger down the grades... he had passed well in Transfiguration and Herbology, he had even exceeded expectations at Potions! And best of all, he had achieved "Outstanding" at Defense Against the Dark Arts!
He looked around. Hermione had her back to him and her head bent, but Ron was looking delighted.
"Only failed Divination and History of Magic, and who cares about them?" he said happily to Harry. "Here... swap..."
Harry glanced down Ron's grades: There were no "Outstandings" there...
"Knew you'd be top at Defense Against the Dark Arts," said Ron, punching Harry on the shoulder. "We've done all right, haven't we?"
"Well done!" said Mrs. Weasley proudly, ruffling Ron's hair. "Seven OWLs, that's more than Fred and George got together!"
"Hermione?" said Ginny tentatively, for Hermione still hadn't turned around. "How did you do?"
"I--not bad," said Hermione in a small voice.
"Oh, come off it," said Ron, striding over to her and whipping her results out of her hand. "Yep... ten 'Outstandings' and one 'Exceeds Expectations' at Defense Against the Dark Arts." He looked down at her, half-amused, half-exasperated. "You're actually disappointed, aren't you?"
Hermione shook her head, but Harry laughed.
˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜˜
Here we have a great big exemple of evil, toxic, jealous Ron Weasley not only being proud of his own achievements even though he had no outstandings, being HAPPY AND PROUD FOR HARRY, saying he knew his best mate would have done well, and just KNOWING Hermione would have done brilliantly, while still actually getting how she felt, because he knows her so well.
The way some people talk about Ron, you'd think they must have had their head stuck up somewhere while reading this. Wasn't he the worst character ever, who would be so jealous and moody his best friends did better than him? Well, no, as you can see. That's cannon Ron, supportive of his friends. The bad friend Ron is just a reading some people made up because they can't stand a poor character daring to have complexity. Oh, and I highlighted Molly praising Ron was well. Because although scarce, it is there. I think Molly really doesn't deserve the hate she's been getting lately.
Just a love letter to Ron. And Molly.

Ok but can we talk about that one scene after Snape kills Dumbledore though
Death Eaters: Are clearly running away from a crime scene
Buckbeak:
Death Eaters: Continuously try to hex Hagrid (man who fought a literal court case for him)
Buckbeak:
Death Eaters: Set Hagrid's hut on fire
Buckbeak:
Snape: Hexes Harry to the ground

Personally, while I think that the Half Blood Prince is the weakest entry in the series, I do get why people might have been disappointed in Deathly Hallows.
It might be because it is a massive departure from the usual Harry Potter formula Rowling had used for the last six books. Without that formula, Hogwarts and the other characters to use, Rowling struggled with the pacing. There were plenty of chapters in the other books where nothing really happened, plot wise, but it had the zany hijinks of Hogwarts classes, the other students, teachers and Qudditch to fill in. All the stuff people love about this series.
That's not to say I disapprove of changing things up for the last book. It could have been a chance to really explore and flesh out the Wizarding World beyond Hogwarts, but that's not really what happened. The trio just camped in the woods for most of the book with no real plan, lurching from one disaster to the next.
For what it's worth, HBP is also quite awful, truly very awful. It's a worthy contender. It's just, at least for me, everything HBP did badly Deathly Hallows did worse.

‘I agree,’ said Professor McGonagall. ‘And in any case, it is not true to say that Dumbledore never envisaged a situation in which Hogwarts might close. When the Chamber of Secrets reopened he considered the closure of the school – and I must say that Professor Dumbledore’s murder is more disturbing to me than the idea of Slytherin’s monster living undetected in the bowels of the castle …’ (HBP, Chapter 29 – The Phoenix Lament)
Sometimes I wonder why people don't comment on how cult-like the Order of the Phoenix is. At least people like the Malfoys, Snape and even freaking Bellatrix doubted Moldy Voldy at some point. The OotP treat Dumbles like a god, following orders like blind believers. It's disgusting. They act like how pop culture thinks Christians act - brainless puppets. Jesus Christ had more resistance from his disciples than Dumbles ever does from his! And Jesus is God! Let that sink in. Ok, mini Christianity rant over :)
Also, people bash Snape for being a terrible teacher while worshipping 'Queen McGonagall'. She has her moments but she's a crap teacher too. Honestly, as far as I am concerned she's WORSE than Snape. Because just like many other Gryffindor characters, her faults are never acknowledged.
Good to know, Minerva, that a monster threatening the lives of your dear students is less disturbing than an old man being murdered. You certainly have your priorities straight :). With the way how this woman fangirls over Dumbles, if I did not know better, I would believe she had something happening on the side with the old geezer.
Hogwarts truly does not give a single crap about students.

I'm curious to know other people's opinions on this extract, as to Dumbledore's thoughts and emotions. Harry himself recognises, rather embarrassed on his own behalf, that Albus is emotional. But we don't really get any insight into the Professor's perspective.
Tumblr media
My thoughts immediately flit to the fact that Harry had been incredibly angry at the end of the previous school year, and Albus knows this. So, to hear directly from the young man himself, that Harry still holds such a strong regard for him, in spite of everything, must be incredibly touching.
On another level, but still kind of the same, I imagine Albus must be in amazement that Harry hasn't just 'given up' on him. Albus knows he messed up quite spectacularly the year before, where Harry is concerned. And now he can't quite believe it, when this is as good as Harry telling his mentor that he forgives him. I imagine Albus has never really experienced that, not on a personal level.
Anyway, what are your thoughts? I'd love to chat. 🥰

Severus survived, moved abroad in a muggle neighborhood and wrote 7 "Potions for Dunderheads" books, one for each year he taught at Hogwarts, using his own recipes.
He put wayyyyyy too much indications on every steps : color, potential dangers (risk of irritation, toxicity, etc), developed a mortality /100 scale for each step, indicate the margin of safety (3 more or less drops and you're 3rd degree burned dunderhead) .
By the seventh book, he learned biochemistry and organic chemistry, and added the pH, reaction equations, active ingredient, what protections to use (gloves, glasses) and progress tables.
Then he wrote "Muggle Techniques Applied to Magical Potions", in which he explains how to take off your gloves in safety, how to sterilize the supplies (including dragon leather gloves), when and how to use an autoclave, a centrifuge, and everything you can find in a muggle lab.
Through the years, he wrote many books :
Fresh, Dried, Fermented or Chopped : a proper use of plants in magical potions ;
Raw, Rare, Blue, Well done or Burnt: a proper use of animal parts in magical potions ;
Healing Spells and Potions for Daily Life ;
Why Using Your Wand While Brewing is the WORST IDEA EVER ;
You Blow Your Cauldron : Healing Spells for Dunderheads
Ancient Runes and Alchemy: How to Make the Lab Dunderhead-Proof
Starry Sky and Unicorn Poop : Potions for Toddlers and Children (under a pen name)
Easy Peasy, Potions Easy (under a pen name)
Those Legal Potions That Should Be Worst a Dementor Kiss (very controversial, includes Amortentia)
He also published many papers in potions magazines, all controversial, and that's how the word "Snience" started to spread.
He has been offered many jobs in potion labs, but never accepted it. However, he agreed to teach some summer camps when he's short of money, where he met very skilled wizards in herbology, magical creatures, spells and alchemy, whom he befriended.
They called themselves The Mad Snientists Team, since they all started to use muggle knowledge to improve their research.
And then, from above, he watches the first prom of students of the Severus Snape Magical Institute for Very Skilled Witches and Wizards attend their first class.

"Yes, Riddle was perfectly ready to believe he was - to use his word - 'special,' " said Dumbledore.
-- Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
I know that he's trying to imply here that Riddle already had budding megalomaniacal tendencies. But come ON. His powers were highly developed. He could move things with his mind. It's not unreasonable for him to conclude that he is special and can do things others cannot; that's just the literal truth. Also, I'd like to point out that Riddle actually first says "I knew I was different." But I guess Dumbledore wants to skip over that bit.
And over the implications. Riddle is, as far as he knows, the only person who can do what he does. He knows nothing about the magical world or what he is. For all he knows he really is haunted or possessed by a demon or something. Part of him must have wondered if he really was mad and imagining it all. His initial, violently fearful and aggressive reaction to Dumbledore when he thinks he's a doctor certainly is very telling and has a lot of implications about the treatment he's experienced during his first 11 years of life.
