Sundarban National Park: The Enigmatic Mangrove Ecosystem
Sundarban National Park, located in the deltaic region of the Ganges, Brahmaputra, and Meghna rivers, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most renowned natural wonders of the world. Spread across India and Bangladesh, the Sundarban is a sprawling expanse of mangrove forests, tidal waterways, and diverse wildlife. Covering approximately 10,000 square kilometers, this unique ecosystem holds a special place in the hearts of nature enthusiasts, conservationists, and travelers alike. This article explores the captivating features that make Sundarban National Park famous and its crucial significance in preserving biodiversity and maintaining ecological balance.
 Rich Biodiversity
The Sundarban' fame primarily rests on its remarkable biodiversity. It is a sanctuary to an astonishing variety of flora and fauna, many of which are endangered or elusive. The dense mangrove forests serve as vital habitats for numerous species, such as the Royal Bengal tiger, spotted deer, saltwater crocodile, estuarine crocodile, Indian python, and the critically endangered Bengal florican. The park is also home to diverse avian species, including herons, kingfishers, eagles, and migratory birds that visit during the winter months. For this adventure you have to opt for a Sundarban Tour package from Kolkata.
 The Royal Bengal Tiger
The Sundarban is the natural habitat of the elusive Royal Bengal tiger (Panthera tigris tigris). This majestic big cat is one of the main reasons the park draws thousands of tourists and wildlife enthusiasts each year. The Sundarban is famous for its unique population of tigers that have adapted to life in the mangroves. These tigers are exceptional swimmers, and their stripes act as effective camouflage amidst the dense mangrove foliage. This is one of the most attractions of your Sundarban Package tour from Kolkata.
 Mangrove Forests
The Sundarban is the largest contiguous mangrove forest in the world. The intertwining network of mangrove trees, with their tangled roots and aerial prop roots, forms an intricate ecosystem that plays a crucial role in protecting the coastline from erosion and storms. The Sundarbans' mangroves act as a natural barrier, shielding the surrounding land from the wrath of cyclones and tidal waves.
 Tiger Conservation Efforts
Given the Royal Bengal tiger's endangered status, the Sundarban National Park has been at the forefront of tiger conservation efforts. India and Bangladesh have collaborated to protect this species and its habitat through various initiatives, including monitoring programs, community involvement, and anti-poaching measures. The Sundarban serves as an essential source population for the preservation of this iconic species.
 Unique Ecological Adaptations
The Sundarban ecosystem is characterized by its unique adaptations to the saline and brackish water environment. The mangrove trees have developed specialized mechanisms to survive in such harsh conditions. For instance, they possess salt-filtering roots that remove excess salt from the water they absorb. Additionally, many plant and animal species have evolved to cope with the rise and fall of tidal waters, creating an intricate balance within the ecosystem.
Sundarban: A UNESCO World Heritage Site
The Sundarban' significance and uniqueness have been globally recognized, leading to its designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This accolade has drawn international attention to the importance of conserving this invaluable natural treasure for future generations.
 Ecosystem Services
The Sundarban plays a crucial role in providing essential ecosystem services to both India and Bangladesh. The mangrove forests act as natural water purifiers, filtering pollutants and sediment before they reach the sea. They also serve as nurseries for various fish species, supporting local fisheries and providing livelihoods for communities.
 Threats and Conservation Challenges
Despite its protected status, the Sundarban faces numerous threats that endanger its delicate balance. Climate change, rising sea levels, habitat destruction, and human-wildlife conflicts pose significant challenges to the survival of the park's biodiversity. Effective conservation strategies and sustainable practices are essential to preserve this invaluable ecosystem.
 Conclusion
Sundarban National Park's fame is well-deserved, given its rich biodiversity, unique adaptations, and critical ecological significance. As a haven for the Royal Bengal tiger and various other wildlife species, it stands as a testament to the wonders of nature. However, it is also a reminder of the importance of preserving and protecting such delicate ecosystems in the face of ever-increasing environmental challenges. By understanding and appreciating the Sundarban, we can strive to ensure the survival of this invaluable natural treasure for generations to come.

Steve on Terry Jones  ;(
I was too young to catch the first, or even the second, Monty Python series when it went out on TV. So I used to listen to the records instead. There’s more detail and production value in vinyl, more craft. I still know a lot of the sketches off pat. I can recite them even now.
Listening to those records and seeing Monty Python and the Holy Grail at the cinema showed me that comedy anarchy wasn’t just legitimate, you could actually make a living from it. In some ways, it was very accessible and silly, but also esoteric and deliberately avant-garde. Terry Jones was the sort of affectionate, lovable side of Python. He and Michael Palin were the heart; John Cleese, Terry Gilliam and Graham Chapman the mind. There was something wonderfully life-affirming about the spiky comedy of Chapman and Cleese; it all worked together beautifully. And when you think of that classic Python voice – “Ooh!” – that’s Terry.
I got to work with him on The Wind in the Willows, 25 years ago, with Eric Idle. Terry directed and played Toad. I was still in my 20s and working with my comedy heroes – it was a dream come true! When I first went to his house in Camberwell, south London, he did the funny voices and said: “This is where the Pythons wrote all our sketches together.” He showed me the camera obscura he kept in his loft. It was magical.
Arriving on the set every day was a joy. Terry was gregarious, effusive, enthusiastic and kind – just such a kind man. There was always silliness and abstraction in his work, but it had a humanity underneath. He never lost that enthusiasm, was never blasé about it. He just enjoyed it.
I saw him a couple of times in the past few years. I went for a visit recently and just sat with him. It was sad when he started to fade away. It made you remember what great company he had been, always so encouraging. Had he been a reticent man, it wouldn’t have been such a contrast, but he always made you feel as if you were his best friend.
It is 51 years since Python first went out and it paved the way for my generation of comedy writers and performers. We’re standing on the shoulders of giants – and he was one of those giants. Terry was the reason the Python series were able to be shown again: had he not taken the tapes from the BBC, they would have been wiped. I’m not sure whether he bought them or nicked them, but he kept them in his loft. At the time, BBC executives saw comedy as ephemeral, disposable entertainment. We now know how culturally important it all was.
Before video existed, I used to record episodes of Ripping Yarns with a microphone and a cassette recorder in my living room. The TV series was Terry’s reinvention of all those Boy’s Own adventures he grew up with. It was so escapist, silly and odd. In only half an hour, they took you to another world. Once I had recorded a show, it was all about trying to emulate it. I would do impersonations of all the characters for my friends at school. That was my first foray into comedy.
When I think of Terry’s standout moments, I think of Mr Creosote in The Meaning of Life, or Life of Brian, which is now a seminal film – Terry pretending to be a woman pretending to be a man because only men are allowed to stone people to death. He was very good at being funny women.
The Brexit people talk about a sense of being British. I have never been a flag-waver or nationalistic, but I do love what I might call Britishness – and it’s the Britishness of Monty Python and Terry, that anti-establishment streak of irreverence. Forget the monarchy and the institutions. It’s people like Terry Jones who make me proud to be British.

7. Bass is heavy a.k.a. useful finger techniques, Dee Dee Ramone’s yelling and helpful octopuses
„Damn, I forgot Sly and Ethel in the van!” she groans and slaps on her forehead.
“No problem, I bring them with the next round.” Scully offers and disappears in the hallway that leads to the backdoor. I have no idea who Sly and Ethel can be but I don’t want to know it either… Now that she’s been left alone she tries to push the carriage trolley with the amps to its place on the stage. With little success. But her fight with the gear twice as heavy as her reminds me of a scene.
“Old woman!” I call her.
“Man!” she corrects me still pressing against the load at full strength. Okay, she passed the test again but that’s not a big deal, Monty Python’s Holy Grail basically became a mainstream movie by now, anybody could quote a few scenes from it. Okay, not everyone, none of my former girlfriends was familiar with absurd humor and neither is Amber. I got her to watch it with me but I gave up the mission and turned off the video recorder when she asked for the third time how much time was left of it. It’s just not for her.
“Okay, Dennis, where’s my cow?” I inquire while I’m helping her win the battle; otherwise hours later, the amps would still stand in the middle of the stage and our crowd would enjoy her hopeless struggle instead of the show.
“Are you deaf? Or just concentration problems?” she asks harshly, avoiding my glance and trying to ignore my intervention but her rush moves uncover the surprise she might feel about it.
“Hey, it’s not easy to talk with you, do you know? I asked you about something, I even emphasized my lack of information using a different tone, in grammar text books you can find the encyclopedic explanation in chapter “Question”.” I draw a question mark with my index finger in the air. “The next communication panel is the so-called “answer” in which you satisfy my need for details…” I gesture the quotation marks too.
“I won’t satisfy you in any way, excuse me…” she cuts me off and even tosses me away a bit as she steps dynamically to the monitor board to plug the cables into it.
“I’m just trying to ask where’s my…” I don’t need to finish the sentence since Scully arrives back with Dave’s stage prop, holding my cow under his arm.
“And I was trying to refer to the fact that we take care of Ethel and Sly.” she nods at the two mascots.
“Ethel?” I blurt out frowning. This chick isn’t sane, she was serious about searching for a name for it… “Since when has she been called Ethel?”
“Actually her name has always been Ethel, you’ve just never asked her about it.” she fixes her glasses with a wiseacre face. “She was quite unhappy, did you know that? I caught her searching for numbers of slaughterhouses in the phonebook as she wanted to volunteer to be a steak ingredient, no wonder knowing you. But when I told her we were traveling to Texas soon she immediately changed her mind. Now she wants to be the spokesperson of the anti-rodeo movement. A little care makes wonders.”
Her fantasy is quite intense, I have to admit.
“So you’re obsessed with stuffed animals?” I ask leaning against my Marshall and watch her wiring the stage with quick moves.
“…asks the guy who keeps one on his amplifier…” she mumbles darting at me for a second and raising one eyebrow. “What are you doing here, anyway? Are you supervising me or what? As far as I know I’m an unbearable person who makes the others admire her and uses her family ties…”
Nice attempt but not enough to distract me.
“…and who told, ahem, yelled at me that I should get to know her better, that’s what I’m trying to do right now.” I continue the sentence. “So tell me, Judith, how many stuffed animals do you have exactly? I bet there are a few ones in your bedroom… my first estimation would be somewhere between five and ten.”
“Oh yeah, my bedroom. Damn, you’ve got me… First of all there’s that huge teddy sitting on my bed, how did you figure it out? Then there’s the bunny in the armchair, the cute seal on my desk and my stuffed pony and unicorn collection, I gave up counting them a few years ago. And I have to mention that everything in the room is very pink and very fluffy. Do I meet the profile you created about me?” she bats her eyelashes.
Clever, but not clever enough to drive me to the wall.
“Actually, when I asked you about stuffed animals I was talking about stuffed animals. Like, dead animals which are stuffed. I mean, I could totally imagine a few stuffed bats, snakes and rats hanged on your shelves full of mysterious ingredients for occult purposes. Candles arranged on the points of a huge pentagram, right next to the coffin-shaped bed…”
“You left out the voodoo dolls. I have a bunch of them, the latest one I prepared wears denim pants and a Luv Co shirt tucked into them…” she approaches threatening me with a jack plug and for one second I think she’s about to stick it into my eyeball but in the last moment she changes direction and plugs it into the matching slot of the amp. I acknowledge, she didn’t need much time to know her way around our gear… But come on, even a chimpanzee can be trained how to put different solids into the right holes, she’s on the level of an average lab monkey. “But how come I turned from a nun into a witch in one single day? You’re pretty much inconsistent at insulting, Gossard…”
That makes sense. I open my mouth to cite the witch hunt scene from the mentioned movie but Scully intervenes in our conversation.
“Guys, if you go on like this I’ll claim payrise from Eric…”
“For what? How do you mean it?” she turns in his direction with hands on hips.
“Conflict management bonus.” he shrugs casually. “Seriously, could you just stop for a moment? For just a few seconds, I feel like I was at a fucking dogfight.”
“It was him who started it!” she exclaims outraged pointing at me.
“Don’t look at me, I don’t know what she’s talking about.” I play dumb raising my hands in front of me.
“Jesus, you’re hopeless. Forget the stopping part, I just want the money.” Scully shakes his head resigned.
“Money? What money? I don’t know what’s going on here but I want money too.” Smitty enters in the company off Dave, Karrie and Jeff.
“When did everybody get so greedy? Actually, it is you who should pay me for my show, I’m the only one who keeps you entertained in this boring touring life.” I smirk as I begin to tune my orange Les Paul.
“As for me, I prefer boredom by all means.“ she rolls her eyes and begins to flipping through her notebook.
“Hey, Judy, we have a few spare hour after the soundcheck and I thought… I thought we could begin your bass guitar lessons.” Jeff scratches his nape holding his other hand deep in his pocket. Awkward loverboy alert… I pull a few steps away because I’m not interested in this embarrassing lovey-dovey but I also try to stay within earshot. Not that I give a shit about it, it’s just better to keep up with the sequels.
“Sure!” she smiles. “I mean, Karrie, do you have any plans for the rest of the afternoon? If you don’t, we could…”
“Beth wants to do some shopping, I forgot to mention it… so I’m going with her. I wanted to ask you too but I have a mind like a sieve…” Karrie answers suspiciously quickly.
“Oookay, then why not?”
“Your place or mine?” Jeff asks not noticing how ambiguous he sounds.
“Jesus, Jeff, you don’t waste your time, straight to the point…” I throw in, which makes the others stop staring them and suddenly everybody pretends to be busy with their work to hide their grins and snorts.
“There’s that small park near the hotel, what if we go there?” the target person of the courtship tries to ignore my remark but can’t disguise the tremble in her voice.
Clever, again. She picks a neutral place. Cautious enough not to show her closest surrounding and smart enough not to get in awkward situations. I mean, boys’ rooms tend to be quite messy, the mixed smell of sweat and deodorant for men, not to mention the stinky sneakers and boxers left on the bed…
“Great. I’ve already mapped out which things I want to show you first.” Jeff goes on enthusiastically and more awkwardly if it’s possible at all. I see Dave’s shoulders shaking as he kneels behind his bass drum to fake-fix its pedal.
“Let’s begin with the basics, I only learnt the most common chords to be able to play some accompaniment to campfire songs and nursery rhymes.” she insists on keeping the conversation under control but Jeff doesn’t seem to cooperate.
“I can teach you a few useful finger techniques.” he exercises the fingers of his bear paws with sincere innocence in his eyes but at this point everybody cracks up; even his future music student giggles bashfully.
“What’s with everyone?” he looks around confused. “What’s so funny?”
“You should… have… heard yourself...” Scully hiccups as he and Smitty collapse of uncontrollable laughter onto each other’s shoulder.
“Oh yeah. That conversation was… juicy.” Dave adds winking and doing unmistakable moves with his hips and arms.
“Oh fff…” Jeff buries his face into his palms replaying the scene in his head. Dave steps to him to pat his shoulders a few times.
“You know what, Ames? You shouldn’t talk so much about what you’re going to do. Just… do it.”
***
“So what’s your plan with that skateboard?” Judy asks while we’re walking in the park searching for a remote place. She hasn’t come up with that awkward conversation yet and I can’t be grateful enough to her for that. I don’t know what happened to me, usually I’m not that clueless type… I was probably way too much focused on the possible outcome of this day. If can I stick to my plan, I’m going to ask her out in like one hour and I have absolutely no idea what she might answer and that drives me crazy. Cool down, Ament, don’t act like a junior high school student before his first prom…
“Uhm… I know it sounds surprising but I thought I could skateboard here…” Aaaand in the category of meaningless answers, the Oscar goes to… drumbeat… Jeffrey Allen Ament, Big Sandy, Montana!!! “Plus, I thought if being a qualified musician, you found the class boring, we could spice it up with some physical challenges… like… you should play bass lines while rolling and balancing on this skateboard. And if it was still a piece of cake for you we could search for a skate park with half pipes and you could even do somersaults and flips.”
“I don’t know… I’m not an athletic type… I’ve only tried to ride a scooter once in my life. Mary Sue Kellerman, my classmate lent me hers on the playground when we were second graders. She explained and showed me how to do it but somehow I didn’t feel the technique, I stepped on it, drove it a few times and enjoyed the speed so much that I forgot to drive it again.” she giggles.
“And… what happened?”
“Seeing I was slowing down she yelled after me like ”Drive, drive!” but I felt paralyzed, I pulled up gradually and ended up tumbling from a standing position…”
“Poor you! But my first skateboarding attempts weren’t glorious either and I still collect a few injuries when I decide to learn a new trick. But I fell in love with it at first… try, and I never want to give it up.”
“You could be a cool, skateboarding grandpa who shocks the youth!”
We find a calm, trellis-like corner and settle down still discussing the same topic. Unlike most girls I know, she doesn’t mind it at all and when I tell her how my father convinced me to build my own skateboard instead of buying that expensive Stacy Peralta board, she turns out to know him. I can’t believe my ears when she mentions Tony Alva too, I mean, who’s this girl?
“And how did you pick up how to play the guitar?” she nods towards the bass on my lap.
“Believe or not I took a few lessons… But they were boring, at least for me, no chords, no songs, only scales…”
“Scales are important!” she corrects me. I always forget that she’s pretty conscious as for music which isn’t typical at all in the band.
“What can I say… I grew up listening to my uncle’s records and as I could spare some money I spent all of it on ordering music magazines and vinyls. And when I started playing bass I figured out how to use my stereo vinyl player to learn Dee Dee Ramone’s parts.”
“I love them!” she exclaims.
“Really? I mean, you know a lot about music and punk songs aren’t very sophisticated concerning the musical part…”
“But that’s the best in punk. Even if you’re not very talented technically you still can play a bunch of songs… or if you can’t, you can still reproduce Dee Dee Ramone’s totally out-of-rhythm “one-two-three-four” yelling. And most punk songs operate with the classic scale degrees. Ramones also use the holy trinity of tonic, subdominant and dominant like the greatest composers before them and…” she jabbers enthusiastically without breathing.
“Waitwaitwait, stop! I don’t have the faintest clue what you’re talking about, if you want to analyze my favorite songs to me you have to go back to Genesis to make it understandable for this Montanan jerk!” I cut her off chuckling.
“Do you mean the Old Testament or the band?” she grins. “Anyway, it’s very simple, look.”
She grabs the instrument out of my lap, disposes it onto hers and strums all strings one after another.
“Normal basses are tuned like double basses, right?“ To my nodding she names them. “E, A, D, G. So, let’s take Blitzkrieg Bop which is written in A major.” She plays the bass line of the mentioned song flawlessly and explains its chord progression in the meantime. I listen to her with dropped jaw and when she falls silent for a second, I take my bass quickly back.
“Okay, the lesson is over, excuse me but I have to go and bury myself alive.” I remark trying to keep a straight face.
“Oh, sorry, I didn’t want to sound like a nerd or show off with my theoretical knowledge, I…”
“You don’t have to apologize for amazing me! But now it’s my turn to amaze you… Do you like graffiti?”
“I don’t know… I’m ambivalent… there are a few ones which look good and are also meaningful but if someone destroys a clear wall with stupid scrawls…” she frowns.
Oh. That’s not a good sign… Inhale, exhale, inhale, exhale…
“I prefer the creative ones too, such as my friend from the art school. He studied photography and spent his last years with shooting the best graffiti he’s seen all across the country and Canada and his exhibition opens on Thursday in Boston. And since we have a day off right that day, right there, I thought you could join.” I utter fast with one big breath. She stares me silently for a few seconds which seem like an eternity.
“ ’Course. Cool.” she answers briefly as if she was declaring something evident. I don’t have too much time to process the positive reception since she begins to roll my skateboard back and forth with her foot.
“Your introduction made me curious, I want to try this diabolical device.”
“Haha, okay, but only if I can walk next to you, you may need a handhold.”
She steps onto the board and she rolls cautiously on the path where we got here in a few minutes. She’s too busy with balancing to notice the rest of the band approaching from the gate.
“Hey Jeff, a suspicious woman is trying to steal your baby!” Eddie shouts.
“Look, guys I’m skateboaaaaaa…” she has to circle with her arms a few times and grab my shoulder to prevent herself from tumbling.
“Carefully, Judy. You should try surfing, it improves sense of balance and falling in water is safer than concrete.” Ed recommends.
“Say yes, if you don’t want to be fired…” Mike whisper-shouts hiding his face with one hand from Eddie preventing him from hearing it, which is obviously totally unnecessary.
“I’m not a big swimmer, so…” she shrugs apologetically.
“Anyway, did Jeff force you to try it? You can answer by signaling with your eyelids…” Mike jokes on.
“No, she just turned out to be a way better bass player than me. So I’ll quit the band and she’s begun to practice before she has to take over all of my tasks.”
“Ah, I see. Judy, I warn you, you’ll have to slam-dance with me. You should gain some weight, I don’t want to kill you…”
“Ed’s right. I’m going to slap you in the face with the guitar neck a few times… I mean literally… but no offense, you can hit back anytime you want or you can land on my foot after jumps from the monitor box like Jeff does…”
Judy wrinkles her nose as she tries to follow the relay of jokes. Stone – who has stayed silent until now – flashes an evil grin and clears his throat. The well-known first signs of his moronic verbal diarrhea.
“Guys, you forgot to prepare her for the most important circumstances. But that’s why I am the band leader… Judith, you have to do some shopping. The polyester basketball shirts are essential parts of our stage look, we can’t allow ourselves losing them just because Jeff quits. And the hats… that’s a more difficult question, they look quite… unique… so I don’t think you have any other choice than borrow them. Do you have sensitive scalp? Because… nevermind, I can lend you a few bandanas to make it more hygienic. Oh, and at certain points of the shows you’ll have to strip. Jeff often drops his shirt and plays on half-naked as you could already see it, you can’t break this tradition. But you also have to keep the hat on your head, don’t ask me why, that’s the rule.”
I sway my guitar case pretending I want to hit him and in the meantime I bite my lower lip to repress my grin. Stone is an idiot but sometimes he has good ideas… I mean obviously I can relate to that plot if I can be in the crowd… Jesus, when did I become such a sexist? I’ve just asked the poor girl out and… I’d better take a cold shower.
***
“And can we see you on TV on Saturday?” I ask rolling the film with my finger back and forth on the table. When Judy called me I was selecting pictures I want to show to Krisha as reference works and I found a few ones which I have to have developed.
“Nah, I don’t think so. We’re going to be with the guys in the studio but we’re not going to be filmed with the cameras. I think Karrie and Brett will have to work with the sound staff in the control room and I… I don’t know yet, if they let me in too I’ll just watch them like a useless idiot… which I am…”
“Control room? Wow, that sounds like a sci-fi, I can totally imagine the Star Trek characters there…” I deliberately ignore her low self-esteem-powered remark. “I’ve also seen in the previews that Sharon Stone would host the show, that’s an interesting combination…”
“Yep, Eric mentioned the creators wanted a funny scene or spot with her and the band but I don’t know if they can find a common ground. They only want to play music and aren’t interested in show business at all.”
“Maybe they want to gag with their physical appearance. Like, Sharon is tall and her legs are unrealistically long whereas Eddie is short so the screenwriters may figure out a joke about him being able to walk between her legs without bowing his head.” I guess as I start rummaging the photo heaps in front of me.
“Haha, you’re evil! You have no right to joke about Ed’s height, you’re a dwarf just like me…”
“But dwarf jokes are the best ones, you have to admit it. And… what are your plans until Saturday? Have you used the tape recorder yet?”
“Noooo…”
“You’re unbelievable, I’ve said you should…”
“…borrow a guitar, I know. Uhm, yesterday Jeff gave me a bass lesson, does that count?”
“Mmmmh, Jeff Ament?” I ask meaningfully. Since Judy joined the staff I played with the idea of them getting together, he seems to match her.
“No, Jeff Goldblum… of course Jeff Ament, who else? And he also let me ride his skateboard.”
“He let you ride his skateboard? That’s how you call it? It’s that a new slang or…” I cackle.
“Shut up, I meant it literally. No slang, no obscene details.” she cuts me off severely. So typical, usually she isn’t against sex related jokes but when actual guys around her come into play, she suddenly turns into a prude spinster.
“Okay, okay, I was just kidding. I’m just surprised, you haven’t mentioned yet you two spend time alone.” Actually I’m happy for these news, not only because I think they’d click but also because in the first ten minutes of our conversation she was cursing Stone Gossard. And even if only the half of what she claimed is true, I can’t blame her; the dude must be quite obnoxious. But still, she barely mentions anyone else from the band and I’m afraid if she goes on like this, these negative feelings will spoil her tour. “And how went the skateboarding? Did you collect a few bruises?”
“Haha, not yet. I didn’t try any tricks and I was probably quite clumsy but he kept encouraging me, he’s a nice guy. And ah, as for plans, he asked me whether I want to go to the photo exhibition of his friend in Boston. The guy invited them and Jeff asked me to join too.”
“That sounds great! And what kind of photos?”
“Photos of interesting graffiti. Jeff used to draw graffiti as well, did you know that? He told me a lot about himself but not in that annoying way when one is talking and talking and isn’t interested in the listener at all… this and the fact Eric defended me and they even gave me a cake… and that Jeff invited me with the bunch… make me feel they really accepted me as a member of the crew… and… oh, shit, I have to go, we have to set off for the show! Kisses for Mom and Granny!”
“Bye, take care of…” It’s needless to finish the sentence since she hung up in the meantime.
A few minutes later, I can hear the key turning in the lock and Mom literally falls in the apartment with her heavy shopping bags.
“You should have knocked, I would have helped you if you had asked me…” I shake my head and collect the apples and small cans which rolled everywhere on the ground.
“If I can give injection to Mrs. Mueller while she’s yelling at me calling me Gestapo’s slut, I can do everything…”
“Your foundation should employ octopuses, they are strong, can use their legs independently and are good listeners. And some of your clients wouldn’t even wonder if one crawled into their home…”
“That’s sure. I ask the opinion of my boss about it.” she settles to the table staring exhausted in front of herself.
“Anyway, you’ve just missed Judy’s call.”
“Damn… I wanted to hear her voice, I literally tossed Mrs. Muller into her bed to finish earlier…”
“Unfortunately you can’t see her either… I asked her about Saturday Night Live and we won’t see her in the show… But we still could watch it together, I would show you the guys and tell everything I’ve heard about them from her. We could make some popcorn and…”
“Oh, sweetie, haven’t I mentioned yet? I… I have to work…” she suddenly gets embarrassed.
“What? In the evening? On Saturday? By the time the show begins your clients are already sleeping the sleep of the just.” I complain.
“I know, but… there’s a former colleague from the hospital who works now in a nursing home. A few nurses quitted and I thought we could use the extra money so she recommended me to her boss as an occasional substitute nurse. And I begin on Saturday.”
Great. Since when have we concealed things like this from each other? I thought we could finally have a mother-daughter evening when she didn’t talk only about the insufferable old terrorists and didn’t pass out of exhaust right after dinner… she should finally relax and I need her company too, since Judy left I’ve felt like a lonely prisoner. And that’s more important than money, we don’t starve and if I got a few jobs I could contribute to our budget too, I wouldn’t be the cripple anymore who costs them a lot.
“And why didn’t you tell me that? Is it a secret or what?”
“Effie, honey, stop pouting, please. You can record it to me and we can watch it on Sunday. And I won’t even say a word if you stop it at every single shot, I’m going to listen to every single detail about these jam boys, I promise.”
“Mmmkay…” I mutter. I don’t like this patronizing voice, I’m not a toddler, I just want her to be honest with me.
“And what are you doing? Selecting pictures?”
“Yes… nothing particular…”
If she doesn’t tell me everything, why should I, right?

WHAT NO ONE UNDERSTANDS ABOUT OPINIONS
So any new protocol is a big part of what makes them good hackers: when something's broken, they need to fix it. 0 terms, Don't maltreat users is a subset of Don't be evil. Nor does it harm you in the real world, it's generally for some common purpose, and the VCs will try to undermine the super-angels have appeared. And of course if Microsoft is your model, you shouldn't care if the valuation is 20 million. And that's why smart people's lives are worst between, say, Altria is not. But the clearest message is that you need those people. It's like the word allopathic. But since then the west coast has just pulled further ahead.
Why would they go to extra trouble to get programmers into the US, towns have become startup hubs if and only if they attract those who have them. They can't pay as much for that. When you reach the top? DC and LA seem to send messages too, but I think a lot of that there. If your startup is connected to a specific industry, you may not finish your training till 30. From the Cliff's Notes, it turned out. They like cafes instead of clubs; used bookshops instead of fashionable clothing shops; hiking instead of dancing; sunlight instead of tall buildings. When you tread water, you lift yourself up by pushing water down. It's harder to say about other countries, because you couldn't reproduce it in most of the world, not fashions and parties.
After I made the list there turned out to be very hard. In software, paradoxical as it sounds, good craftsmanship means working fast. Where should one look for it? One ingredient of its meaning is certainly Ajax, which I took to refer to web-based applications. And when all the companies that won't use patents on startups are attacking innovation at the root. But in her case it goes beyond that. So what makes a place good to them? I think, is that they're the sort of thing was done at the time, but the whole program around it. It's interesting Our two junior team members were enthusiastic. We're not hearing about Perl and Python because people are using them to write Windows apps. They used drugs, at least unconsciously, is the problem so bad in most other fields. But there is no external opponent, so the variation we see is something that more and more varied experience a belief survived, the less likely it would be Fred.
The thing about languages, though, are busy. Seattle owes much of its position as a tech center to the same cause. Who's right? Asking whether you're default alive or default dead? The warped little world we lived in was as fake as a Twinkie. When I notice something surprising, it's usually very faint at first. 5% of the time we called retards. Or if they are, they are, because it's hard to imagine how that town felt about the Steelers. And then of course there's the question, how do you know when you meet one? You also can't tell from their resumes.
But if we're going to do that are not so much that it's critical to get your product to market early, but that a they aren't told about it, and that's why we even hear about new, indy languages like Perl and Python. Kids are sent off to spend six years memorizing meaningless facts in a world ruled by a caste of giants who run after an oblong brown ball, as if the active ingredient of Silicon Valley were the office space. Imagination is hard to appreciate is that it makes me slightly queasy. As with an actual gold mine, you still have to show up for work every day, they care more about what they have in common. Silicon Valley. Saying pleased to meet you, whether you are or not. The conference itself didn't seem very grassroots. In a typical American school, standards for coolness are so high or at least the average of the acquisition market—in which public companies do behave as pooled-risk company management companies existed, signing up with one would seem the ideal plan for most people, would be if you could get the right answers, at least, first-rate computer science departments.
And what's especially dangerous is that they have other things to think about. And most importantly, their status depends on how far along you are. And so American software and movies, and Japanese cars, all have this in common: the people in charge care about design—the Bay Area would be the ideal place—that it didn't predict anything. So I think VC funds are seriously threatened by the super-angels and VCs. We didn't even know at the time. And I have no idea that working in a cubicle feels to a hacker like having one's brain in a blender. Then you'd automatically get your share of the returns of the whole pool. The problem with most schools is, they have no purpose. The technology companies are right. All other things being equal, the more effort you'll have to switch to plan B if plan A isn't working. What the anti-immigration people say that instead of letting foreigners take these jobs, we should train more Americans to be programmers. Why did he?
What does it take to make a silicon valley becomes: who are the great hackers I know are gradually switching to Macs. But we were comparatively old when we started that our users were called direct marketers. And in fact it was the same at the schools I went to, the focus of rebellion was drug use, specifically marijuana. When I was in school, though that counted for something, but to most people at the time. During interviews, Robert and Trevor and I would pepper the applicants with technical questions. But the company may not be a coincidence. For them the right approach would be to design them so that the programmer could guess what library call would do the right thing. And they're justified in doing so with opinions about things that don't change much, like human nature. In travel books they show you mostly natural environments: the Grand Canyon, whitewater rafting, horses in a field, any weird idea or apparently irrelevant question that occurs to you is ipso facto worth exploring.

How XRP's Tech Differs from Other Crypto Assets

How XRP's Tech Differs from Other Crypto Assets
Up, then down again.
In times of volatility, it can seem like there really isn’t anything supporting public cryptocurrency networks. But that isn’t exactly the case. While they come in all shapes and sizes (so to speak), cryptocurrencies all use the same ingredients – peer-to-peer networking, private key cryptography and programming.
XRP, perhaps the breakout crypto asset of 2018, is no exception.
Created in 2012 and now securing $40 billion in total value, XRP is the third-largest cryptocurrency network today, one that has gained publicity as the company that manages its operations, Ripple, has inked a range of impressive partnerships.
One point of criticism that has emerged, though, is that most of the announcements don’t have much to do with XRP, but Ripple’s other financial products. At least some users have been unaware of the distinction (though CoinDesk has a guide for that).
But even those considering the market (or who may be watching from afar) can benefit from understanding more about Ripple’s technology and how it differs from yet another market segment, public cryptocurrencies like bitcoin and ethereum.
While all three do trade on public exchanges, XRP, as you’ll see, doesn’t exactly function like the other assets you’ll find on CoinMarketCap.
Ledger and consensus algorithm
To start, XRP is a cryptocurrency that rides on the XRP Ledger. (You can think of XRP as similar to U.S. dollars, and XRP Ledger like the Federal Reserve’s official database of bills, coins and notes.)
The part that governs how XRP moves over the XRP Ledger is called the XRP Ledger Consensus Protocol, or XRP LCP.
Like any distributed consensus protocol, a set of computers run XRP LCP in an effort to determine which transactions that have been sent over the network are valid and, as such, agree on the history of the ledger.
In this, the algorithm faces a similar challenge to bitcoin, ethereum and other more decentralized cryptocurrencies – the double-spend problem, whereby a user might try to send the same cryptocurrency transaction twice in an effort to game the system.
Whereas bitcoin and ethereum solve the problem with a consensus algorithm called proof-of-work (in which miners use specialized hardware to solve complex mathematical puzzles to verify transactions and earn rewards), XRP uses something different. Its construction hinges on a “trust-based alternative” to this, in which a handful of nodes are elected to make the ultimate decisions about the ledger’s history.
This group of nodes is called the Unique Node List (UNL), and currently, Ripple oversees which nodes get added to the list.
Following the guidance of the UNL, nodes broadcast a vote on which transaction history is correct, and the consistent majority will be chosen to advance the ledger. According to a recent white paper, 90 percent agreement across nodes is required to ensure the safety of the network.
Because the network does not rely on computationally intensive proof-of-work and a whole network of computers competing to verify transactions, XRP LCP can cope with a much higher throughput of transactions settled in around four seconds.
Still, even these details are under experimentation as the company seeks to improve the tech. Ripple researchers Brad Chase and Ethan MacBrough have even proposed a new algorithm named Cobalt as a replacement for the XRP LCP.
Instead of relying on 90 percent node agreement, Cobalt can function with a mere 60 percent.
Nodes and validation network
While the efficiency of Ripple’s system is a plus for many, others are turned off by its centralization of nodes.
Although users can individually define their own UNL, Ripple recommends its UNL based on its consistently honest performance over time. As such, because other nodes might fall out of agreement with Ripple’s UNL (which defines the transaction history), failure to follow the recommended UNL may result in a botched payment.
There are currently 70 validator nodes and five recommended validator nodes, with all the latter being maintained by Ripple.
This differs substantially from bitcoin and other public cryptocurrencies in that anyone (with the technical know-how) can spin-up a node and start helping secure the network, plus anyone (with the correct hardware) can begin mining.
But Ripple plans to add 11 more recommended nodes, run by trusted companies and universities, this year, and would also like to see all its nodes phased out in time.
“Right now, we see a certain number of third-party validators that are building up a history; they’re looking good but at the same time they’re still pretty new, so they don’t have the same … five years of run time that Ripple’s validators have,” Stefan Thomas, the company’s CTO, told CoinDesk.
On top of that, Ripple hopes that one day users of the network will be able to define their own UNL based on their own personal parameters.
Development and governance
An area where XRP and its distributed ledger have the most in common is in development.
The full client software of the XRP ledger, named “rippled,” was open sourced in 2013, and its development centers around Github.
Like both bitcoin and ethereum, rippled is derived from a system invented by programmers working on the programming language Python, whereby changes are added to the Github as “improvement proposals.”
In Ripple, these are called a Ripple Improvement Proposals (RIPs), which are presented as a draft and then go through careful analysis before being merged with the ledger.
The vetting process for new features here is just as intense as is on bitcoin and ethereum, where a number of public debates have erupted over the years.
There are a total of nine core developers, who audit the code and execute tests based on proposed code changes, listed on the company’s Github.
Compared to other cryptocurrencies, XRP’s core developer group seems thin, although the listed core developers of some cryptocurrencies have not touched the code for some time.
While XRP and its underlying technology have been criticized for being less frequently updated, the company recently released new technical papers that detail the infrastructure and are being put in front of academics for peer review.
Supply and token economics
Whereas bitcoin and many other cryptocurrencies have a set number of cryptocurrency units, which are released from the protocol as miners validate transactions, XRP works in a different way.
All the XRP that will ever be produced – 100 billion – were created in 2013. Similar to ethereum’s “gas” unit, XRP is used to pay the small fees for sending transactions across the network, but instead of those fees going to miners, the XRP is destroyed.
The process acts as an anti-spam measure since people are less inclined to attack the ledger with spam transactions if those transactions cost money.
While this crypto carnage might worry some investors, in November 2017, the company did the math, saying, “At the current rate of destruction, it would take at least 70,000 years to destroy all XRP.”
Although, there are other worries as it relates to the supply of XRP.
Initially, 20 billion XRP were granted to the founders and creators of the project. On top of that, the remaining 80 percent of the coins were passed to Ripple, which causes many people to worry that the company could use those coins for less than ideal purposes, such as dumping them in a cash grab and causing a large-scale devaluation of the crypto asset.
In response, though, Ripple announced last year it would lock up all remaining XRP into a digital escrow that would slowly distribute the remaining tokens over time.
Value proposition
Yet, many XRP enthusiasts seem less interested in XRP’s use to deter spam, and more interested in the possibility that it’s used to make cross-border payments by some of the largest financial institutions in the world.
And this year, the industry has seen some of this materialize, albeit if only in pilots and tests. So far, Ripple has announced partnerships with Moneygram and a number of other remittance providers, Santander UK and a slew of other international payment and banking providers.
Not all of these partnerships are focused on utilizing the Ripple product (there are three altogether) that uses XRP. But more and more companies are interested in testing out the use of XRP as a “bridge currency,” meaning customers can convert fiat currencies into or out of XRP in order to speed up trades.
According to Thomas, it’s this liquidity that accounts for the current and future value of the XRP token.
“When you look at what drives value, what drives value is usage,” Thomas said, continuing:
“We think that as a store of value as something that we’re, Ripple Inc., very much invested in the outcome of the doctrine of XRP, by virtue of our holding of XRP, we are obviously believers in sort of long term potential for XRP to rise in value as adoption approves to the token.”

Britain Is Shamed and Brussels Triumphant. But Is That Good for Europe?
A few capital cities acquire political identities of their own , not ever winsome ones. Donald Trump led against “Washington” as much as he did against Hillary Clinton. For countless people in Europe, “Brussels” is a government character–a bureaucrat planning an ever-closer European union. That parody has just staged a convalescence that they are able to placed Lazarus to shame.
On the eve of the Brexit poll in June 2016, countless parties smelt that Brussels’ pulsation was fading. Two of the European Union’s great projects from the 1990 s–the euro and the Schengen Area of free movement–were in different forms of chaos, even as the third, the single sell, was still imperfect. Businesspeople, especially from the Anglo-Saxon world, fumed at the EU’s inscrutable administration. Mismanagement had left the continent with a sluggish economy, too many insolvent banks, and no major tech companionships. Politically, the Franco-German alliance that had driven the union send had crumbled. Even Angela Merkel, who’d fought so hard to keep Europe together, made it clear her success was in spite of the homunculi in Brussels.
Featured in, July 17, 2017. Subscribe now.
Illustration: 731 Nobody from the EU had been publicly admitted near the Remain campaign in Britain for fear of fating it; naturalnes from Brussels was the mobilizing bawl of the leavers. And the day after they triumphed, many Brexiteers jubilantly predicted that other countries would follow. The EU was ” a government assignment in denial ,” trumpeted Nigel Farage of the UK Independence Party.
Now Brussels is reborn. Two affairs have changed everything. The first, ironically, was Brexit. Far from killing the EU, Brexit has helped reunite it. The second was the election of the members of Emmanuel Macron in May this year, which has given the European projection a purpose–or the promise of one.
For all the public talk of weep, Brussels can barely contain its laughter at Britain’s spectacular reversal of fortune. The nation that had been Brussels’ central connoisseur and the most adept earner of opt-outs from EU campaigns hasn’t so much filmed itself in the hoof as machine-gunned both legs repeatedly. Farage’s rejoicing discussion gapes as premature as George W. Bush’s” Mission Accomplished” flag after the invasion of Iraq. Far from acting as a lighthouse for other leavers, the chaos the Little Englanders generated scared voters in the Netherlands and France into preferring pro-European leads, while Theresa May’s mistaken desire to recommend a hard Brexit married the officers of the EU against her. She called an election in June to consolidate that mandate but lost her majority in Parliament and her credibility–and recreated talk of Britain eventually staying in.
Last month, with Britain’s economy souring downward and banks looking at other European funds, Prime Minister May’s Brexit negotiators arrived in Brussels for an encounter with what Monty Python would have described as the bleedin’ obvious. The rules for leaving the EU all favor the association rather than the quitter. Meanwhile, for all May’s bluster about” no batch being better than a bad deal ,” Britain relies on Europe for some 44 percentage of its exports; for Europe, Britain represents simply 9.5 percent. No cope would be a disaster. May’s promise of a frictionless Brexit is impossible, as the central European negotiator has rightly pointed out. Some Britons are already trying to reopen the idea of remaining in the customs union.
Watching the haughty British move, pontificate, and gradually succumb on concern after publication will impede Brussels happy for months–all the more so because May has sided the job of negotiating with the EU to three Brexiteers: Boris Johnson, Liam Fox, and David Davis. But Brussels is also feeling more self-confident in its dealings with the rest of the Anglo-Saxon world.
Americans who used to chortle at the spate of European Commission President Jean Claude Juncker representing Europe, alongside Barack Obama and China’s President Xi Jinping , now expend their age defending for Donald Trump. Rather than feelings against the EU’s protectionism, U.S. business leaders now have to explain steel excises from Washington. The EU recently reached a preliminary free-trade deal with Japan while Trump has told Obama’s Trans-Pacific Partnership founder. The euro-area economy is projected to grow 1.9 percentage this year, faster than the U.K.’s( 1.6 percent) and within collection of the U.S.’s( 2.2 percent ). The EU has begun to fix the banking crisis in Southern Europe–with Banco Santander SA buying Banco Popular SA in Spain and Italy setting bailouts of its three most troubled lenders. There’s even some approval in financier roundabouts for Europe having the intestines to rein in Google Inc. over its search monopoly.
However, the person who’s really conjured flavours in Brussels is Macron, who’s brought the prospect of France adopting economic reform. The Franco-German engine has sputtered back into life–and with it hope of incorporation in the euro area. Even the most misty Eurocrats are well aware that institutional change is hopeless in the broader EU, because it would require referendums in too many countries. But the core euro area doesn’t need that. Hence the hope of a slew: As Macron reconstructs France, Merkel will allow increased integration of the diverse monetary and economic conservatories in the euro zone. She’s already mentioned a euro-area finance minister.
Most economists agree that it’s very hard for a currency union to survive without a deeper banking solidarity and some risk-sharing through seam indebtednes sales or a movement solidarity( the U.S. has both ). Germans dislike the idea of having to threw their taxpayers on the hook to carry others, but the alternative are a number of catastrophes of confidence in least productive economies that are unable to let their currencies depreciate.
A more integrated euro area would commit an much clearer multitrack Europe, but that more might suit the union: The outer resound of non-euro countries could perhaps eventually include a penitent Britain, the Western Balkans, and( close your eyes and illusion) maybe even Turkey. The comeback by Brussels could augur a future with a more cohesive and regulated single market.
This is the sort of thing that obliges elderly Eurocrats start to vibrate on their bidets. But getting back on your feet is still a long way from rallying forwards. There are lots of ” ifs” in the EU’s renaissance. They begin with Macron. Talking about reform is a long way from ordaining it. He’s already lost a couple of cabinet ministers. The real test of his resolve will come in the National Assembly and then in the street: France has a huge public area that exhausts more than half gross national product and which will fight against reform.
There’s a bigger problem than France: Italy’s debt is 133 percentage of GDP, its economy is basically unreformed, and it faces an electoral next year that is able acquired by a bloc of Silvio Berlusconi’s center-right party and the anti-immigrant Northern League or even the anti-euro Five Star Movement. Merkel known to be German voters won’t be pleased with future prospects of salvaging such an Italy. Rather than exulting in their capacity as the euro’s principal beneficiaries, let alone impression guilty to the charges the austerity they’ve obligation on the rest of the continent, some Germans check themselves as long-suffering philanthropists who’ve bailed out the sleepy parties of Southern Europe repeatedly.
Indeed, both the politics and the economics of the EU look good mainly in the sense that they’re no longer ruinous. Across Europe more voters “d rather” Brussels recall strength to the member states than increase its own. The EU hasn’t solved the problem of refugees: Its southern territories are still far more porous, with Italy urgently trying help from its partners. The economy is still reliant on the European Central bank reproducing fund. The single busines stands pathetically unfinished. The continent has nothing close to a Pan-European bank. Europe evaluates the tempo of improvement against its own sluggish historic standards. Inspected at globally, it not only appears to be far behind America, but it’s also in danger of being caught by developing economies. And the primary enthusiast of structural reform, the British, are leaving.
That ties into a deeper possibility in dealing with Britain. Some European masters demand the British to tolerate to put off other potential renegades and to sell the British to reconsider leaving. There’s a fundamental danger of going too far, nonetheless. Ask a Eurocrat what the Union should do if Britain, having spent more humble pasty, begged, respond, for the Norway option–that is , nonmember customs-free access to the EU and allowing for the free circulation of people–and the immediate reaction in Brussels is to roster all the additional punishing circumstances the British should accept that the Norwegians haven’t. This seems counterproductive on many levels. Inducing an economic crisis in a market of 65 million people( which will still mansion much of the EU’s financial organisation) would scarcely cure European professions. The one unarguable achievement of the EU has been a most peaceful continent. An sour Britain, where even those who never wanted it to leave in the first place belief Brussels is discussing them unfairly, is in nobody’s interest. There is a big difference between a sullen participate and a deep alienated neighbor.
The truth is that Brussels is a bit like individual patients that’s had a mettle graft. It shouldn’t assume that its new rental on life is an endorsement of its most recent life-style. If it doesn’t improvement its dress, then it will be back on the operating table.

The quiet power of Android's custom launchers
A launcher can change the way you interact with your tool
It can make your life simpler. It can make it less complicated so that you can get right of entry to the items you need — making pertinent info available with a look or with a short tap, swipe, or pinch in just the right spot. That’s precious in case you’re the use of your tool for enterprise, the use of it for delight, or using it for a few combination of the two. And you positive as heck don’t have to be an energy user to comprehend it.
[ To comment on this story, visit JR’s Google+ page. ] Whether you dance around Android like a seasoned or just stick to the basics, an amazing launcher can make an awful telephone tolerable and a superb smartphone extraordinary. But like most matters inside the world of personal generation, there is no accepted “proper” answer. Finding the “great” launcher is mostly just about figuring out what type of setup and series of alternatives works pleasant for you and your own non-public options.
And man, are there some fantastic alternatives obtainable
I’ve long been keen on Nova Launcher for its total control method to customization and the plethora of options it provides — now not to mention the short tempo at which its developer always works to put into effect thrilling new features and thoughts (have you visible his modern-day innovation?!).
I recently spent some time the use of Evie Launcher and got here away inspired through how it makes use of search because the centerpiece for the home screen enjoys and how transformative of a perception that seems to be. Instead of just doing greater of the same, its developers set out to create something meaningfully specific from the whole lot else obtainable — something with its personal distinct cause and raised’être. As a result of that clever and authentic technique, they controlled to accumulate a respectable huge fan base in an impressively short amount of time.
I even spent numerous months the usage of Google’s new Pixel Launcher after choosing up a Pixel of my personal final fall. While it’s far much less feature-packed than my usual launcher selection, I really dig its simplicity and the smooth, platform-regular aesthetic it brings to my tool.
But no matter what number of launchers I try or how tons I experience them, there’s one launcher I simply keep coming lower back too. It’s Action Launcher, via a fella named Chris Lacy — and it fits my workflow in a manner no other launcher ever pretty manages to parallel.
Keeping Your Cooling System Quiet
Then, homeowners realize that the cooling gadget they just established makes more noise than they like. These pointers will help make certain that everyone can nonetheless pay attention the television over top of the fans within the cooling device.
Anti-vibration mounts
When the enthusiasts get going, they are going to vibrate as a minimum a touch bit. It is not a count number of whether or not they vibrate, but a be counted of the way to hold them quiet. If human beings hear a vibrating noise, anti-vibration mounts are the way to head. Anti-vibration mounts are generally made from rubber, and paintings precisely like everyday ones. The rubber that anti-vibration mounts are manufactured from enables to prevent the vibrations from achieving the timber or metal to prevent that stressful noise from disrupting everyone’s favorite display.Other words for quiet.
New enthusiasts
After installing anti-vibration mounts, there may nevertheless be noise from the enthusiasts themselves. Anti-vibration mounts will best help with noise from that motion, and so that it will not be enough to quiet a loud fan. Not all lovers are designed to be quiet. Consumers are encouraged to remember the fact that there may be no such element as a silent fan, but there are positive products which can be designed to be as noiseless as possible.
Taking the time to shop around to discover a fan that is as quiet as possible might be properly really worth the time when all and sundry can hear what is going on in the sport instead of the constant whirring noise of lovers.
Include plenty of areas
There wishes to be sufficient room in the media cabinet for the fans themselves and then introduced room above or under components of the cooling machine for air flow. Most people do not realize this if it is their first time making their very own cooling system. Then, when they may be finished, they understand their cooling system sounds like a miniature wind tunnel.
How Do Power Stations and Coal Mines Affect Your Surroundings?
Most strength stations which might be taken into consideration the dirtiest coal-fired power vegetation, are set to close down in March this 12 months. This fundamental challenge and moving far away from fossil gasoline energy and towards greater renewable power options are currently being met with mixed reactions through special sectors of society. There are benefits and repercussions that could impact the certain place as a whole, but on the identical time, the consequences of the transition can also be right now felt by using the groups which have been primary players in supplying energy necessities for the longest time.NFL offense and defense rankings.
Know how these power stations and coal mines affect your surroundings and why closure is necessary
When these strength stations and coal mines are closed the carbon emissions will lower. The strength plant is one of the oldest coal-fired strength plants in u . S . A . In addition to one of the maximum emissions in depth ones. It burns greater carbon-extensive brown coal, and as such has been generating what is equivalent to one,400 tons of carbon dioxide per gig watt-hour of energy produced. And once the plant’s operations give up, there could be a right away effect on carbon emissions.
Additionally, community and environmental health will improve. Burning coal creates pollutants which place humans dwelling in the location of the plant at danger for various health conditions. Closing the plant approach that locals will revel in appreciably less publicity to harmful air-borne debris.
However, closing these flowers also has drawbacks and downsides
Among those is the rise of strength rate. Closing the coal mines way that human beings must now depend upon power to meet their energy necessities. However, even though households pick out to use energy-efficient lighting fixtures and appliances, the demand for strength keeps rising, pressuring expenses to do the identical.
Closing such plants may even create higher unemployment tiers. Hence, the transition stands to strike a main monetary blow that could without delay have an effect on the lives of the locals. The plant employs over three hundred contractors and 500 bodies of workers. These flowers were providing the vicinity’s strength desires for decades and the closure has locals suffering to visualize an unsure future.
How to Perform Android Battery Testing
The fast battery discharge is one of the most massive problems of state-of-the-art fact. Modern smartphones or capsules include superior functions and they may be full of various competencies. But all this is the purpose why software program checking out company need to paintings harder than ever.Android tutorial for beginners pdf.
Frequently, customers make a few manipulations with their devices: switch off cellular statistics or pick out low power mode which reduces energy consumption. For those motives, QA experts must execute thorough checking out of battery to understand how plenty power is eaten up by using a sure application.
Usually, unique testing tools are used to test battery consumption
Let us make an instance how to test Android battery, the use of Battery Historian testing tool. Before proceeding at once to test method, one has to remember the operation peculiarities of battery historian tool itself.
Battery Historian Tool Peculiarities:
it is a Google device; calls for knowing of programming (as a minimum command line); it’s miles an open-source Python script; works on Android (starting from five.0 model and later); examine battery on the basis of Android computer virus report files; operates on Mac OS, Windows, and Linux. The listing above proves that this device is a substitute effective. All you need to execute battery testing is to fulfill a few necessities: activate USB debugging on Android device; install Python inside the gadget; Android Debug Bridge (ADB) presence. Only after all necessities are met, QA group may additionally start to take a look at the process. Usually, the take a look at technique, the usage of Battery Historian tool includes 5 ranges. Five Stages of Android App Testing through Battery Historian Tool:
Removing all previous stats – first of all, to execute accurate testing, a tester must clean all stats to be able to gain applicable facts (ADB command will look this manner: “ADB shell dump says battery stats –reset”). After the records are cleared, the professional should disconnect the device from the gadget. Execute numerous check scenarios with a purpose to define what consumes the most of the strength. It is essential to behave just like the consumer to better comprehend the effect of consumer revel in on battery lifecycle. Connect tool to the machine once more and create a worm record (Add command will look this way: add bug report > batterydata.Txt). On the bottom of this log document, the tool may also get statistics of the tool battery. Download Battery historian device in an effort to generate HTML report, the use of Android log report (Use this command: python historian.Py batterydata.Txt > batteryinfo.HTML).

"100 announcements (!) from Google Cloud Next '17"
San Francisco — What a week! Google Cloud Next ‘17 has come to the end, but really, it’s just the beginning. We welcomed
10,000+ attendees including customers, partners, developers, IT leaders, engineers, press, analysts, cloud enthusiasts (and skeptics). Together we engaged in 3 days of keynotes, 200+ sessions, and 4 invitation-only summits. Hard to believe this was our first show as all of Google Cloud with GCP, G Suite, Chrome, Maps and Education. Thank you to all who were here with us in San Francisco this week, and we hope to see you next year.
If you’re a fan of video highlights, we’ve got you covered. Check out our Day 1 keynote (in less than 4 minutes) and Day 2 keynote (in under 5!).
One of the common refrains from customers and partners throughout the conference was “Wow, you’ve been busy. I can’t believe how many announcements you’ve had at Next!” So we decided to count all the announcements from across Google Cloud and in fact we had 100 (!) announcements this week.
