Films I've watched in 2023 (106/119)
The cinematography is so quintessentially Sven Nykvist and absolutely beautiful.

The Christmas Season makes all kinds of music endeavours come out of the woodwork, trying to cash in on the phenomenon of Christmas Music. Antonio Fargas was known in the '70s for his role as informant Huggy Bear in the TV Series Starsky & Hutch. Capitalizing on the popularity of this character, a Christmas single was released.

Movie #1,097 • TRUE RANDOM, VOL. LI
Tumblr media
Well, after I relatively long run of solid to good/great TRUE RANDOM choices, we got a definite meh one here, folks.
There are some fun parts (the open market shootout and hospital/ambulance chase sequence) and some LoL random things (why is there an unlit cigarette dangling out of Robert Blake's mouth the entire movie?) but too much shitty neo-noir dialogue and rote exposition bog it down. Haven't really seen too much of Elliot Gould or Robert Blake in leading roles, though, so that was interesting. And it's always good to see A+ character actors like Allen Garfield and Michael Lerner. Not quite a recommend from me but certainly not terrible.
SCORE: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Lindy: I'm so tired of you running off at your mouth it's getting me down honey. Why don't you just leave? And be an assassin? Or is the only thing you're good at shooting off is your big mouth?
Duane: Will you please get out of my face you sorry looking faggot.
Lindy: Who you calling sorry looking?
[Everybody laughs]
Duane: Can't ya'll see "she" aint funny?
[laughter stops]
Duane: She's just another poor example of how the system is destroying our men.
Lindy: Honey, I'm more man than you'll ever be and more woman than you'll ever get.
