@borskovlegacy that NA tony thing we talked about
You’d think that by now, after more than a few months in this universe, that Tony would be used to running into old friends. But he’s not. Partly because this universe is strange, sideways, people who are the wrong age or have different powers, different stories. The core of his team are accounted for, but there are many people who don’t seem to even exist.
He’s not expecting Ivan, simply because he had yet to see any sign of the man in this universe. Admittedly, he hadn’t LOOKED either. He’s not expecting ANYONE else in the hallways of Stark Tower this early in the morning, which is why he runs almost straight into the man, managing to collide with the wall as he swerves at the last second.
Tumblr media
“I’m so ----- Ivan!” the name is startled out of him before he can control himself.
He’d only popped in to use Stark’s workshop, not to confront old ghosts. Again.

Tony’s Childhood. Part 1: Identifying facts
Tumblr media
In the MCU, Tony sometimes acts like a kid. There is a reason behind every behavior, so I wondered what it was like for him when he was a real kid.
So, the questions of the day: what do we know about Tony's childhood? Did he have one? And, most importantly, how did it affect him?
Let’s first list what we know from the movies:
At age 4 Tony built his first circuit board (IM1)
At age 6 built his first engine (IM1)
Was sent to a boarding school by Howard (IM2)
Cracked the Pentagon’s firewall in high school on a dare (AoU)
Had a nanny until the age of 14 (IM3)
Went to college at 14 (IM1)
Built Dum-E and U when he was there (IM1)
At 17 graduated summa cum laude from MIT (IM1)
Continued his education until his parents’ death (CW)
Tony’s genius gave him two things: the brain and the pain. And by the pain, I mean that instead of interacting and bonding with his parents, enjoying life, playing, having fun, making friends, taking care of pets, and all the other things children do to gradually prepare for adulthood and grow up "healthy", he got this list of achievements. That doesn’t make a person normal.
Parents
Tumblr media
We know his relationship with Howard was complicated. Howard loved him in his own way. He had too many things to do to be a good father: SI, S.H.I.E.L.D., scientific projects, trying to build a better future with clean energy, etc. All good, except when you want your child to love you back. Especially if in the tiny amount of time you spend with him, you don’t show him any signs of affection.
What do we know about Maria? Her name, what she looked like, that she played the piano, and died at Winter Soldier’s hand on Dec 16, 1991. That’s it. She didn’t spend much time with Tony either. Remember, he even had a nanny, instead of a mother. Tony's words about her showed that he loved her, but he didn't talk much about her. Because she wasn’t present in his life enough. Why? Because…
School
Howard sent Tony to a boarding school.
Here’s in the S.H.I.E.L.D.s file we have this information about the school:
Tumblr media
“Phillips Academy, Andover, MA 1977-1984”
This means he was there from age 7 to 14. Howard sent him to a boarding school when he was SEVEN.
Phillips Academy Andover serves grades 9-12 only (it is a college preparatory school). Thus, either this is a mistake by the creators of the film/file, or Tony, due to his genius, became an exception. Since the early age he was already at school was also mentioned in IM2 tie-in comics, and in Earth-616 that was also 7, we can mark 1977-1984 as valid.
Tumblr media
Think about it again: Tony was sent to boarding school in another state when he was 7 years old. He spent another 7 years there, alone, among high school-aged teenagers. No parents around, no peers.
For example, even Hogwarts accepts 11-year-old children, and they live with their peers. Now imagine Harry Potter, at the age of 7, is thrown into a dorm with 7th-year students and locked there. Doesn’t make a person normal either, does it?
Nannies and Jarvis
Tumblr media
Since Tony was at the boarding school, there are two options for how he could have a nanny (mentioned in IM3) and spend time with Edwin Jarvis:
1) He was at the boarding school with a nanny. There is almost no possibility that the nanny was Edwin Jarvis because Jarvis was Howard’s butler and had other responsibilities.
2) He had a nanny at home in the summer and during short school breaks. In this case, his parents couldn’t even give him this little of their precious time.
In any case, he could only see Jarvis at home, a few months a year at most.
Tumblr media
Note: There is a date error in IM3, stating Tony was 14 in 1983. This is clearly an error and we can omit this detail.
Bullying
Remember this dialog between Tony and Harley in IM3?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
0:45:15 – Harley asks him how he knew he was being bullied at school. Tony doesn't answer. He gives him a non-lethal flash thing to "discourage bullying."
Tumblr media
We see that Tony knew exactly what was going on with Harley at school. Because that’s exactly what happened to him there. Harley reminded him of himself. Brilliant kid with no friends and practically no parents. He was bullied by 9th-12th graders.
If he had a nanny with him at the school, that probably made things even worse. He would be bullied because he has a nanny, and despite he has one to look after him.
In Part 2 we will discuss how all this affected him. Stay tuned.

feel free to ignore this but it truly p*** me off when people who are "rightfully" calling out wanda maximoff only cite her actions in WandaVision and beyond as if she hasn't been evil - acknowledged or not - for the ENTIRE TIME SHE'S BEEN A PART OF THE MCU!! like DUDE! are we FOGETTING about when she set the HULK on CIVILIANS or that she VOLUNTEERED for f***ing HYDRA!!! to say NOTHING of everything ELSE she's done in either AOU or CW. rant over
Oh I'll live and die right there beside you on the hill that Wanda was bad the entire goddamn time and it shouldn't have taken WandaVision for more people to start picking up on that

It's all part of the same game if you think about it. The audience hates Project Insight because it's Hydra and Hydra are the bad guys. But Ultron was supposed to be a "suit of armour around the world" and Edith has a funny nickname and "oh, isn't Peter such a nice kid". And the Accords only wanted to "hold the heroes accountable", they're not that bad.
What's the difference really? Framing.
Hydra was attacking Steve, Sam and Nat. They hurt Bucky, they almost had Fury killed. They're the bad guys. And...
Tumblr media
They're framed as the enemy. So naturally, everybody sees them as such.
But Tony is not treated this way because we don't know his victims. His time as an arms dealer is completely forgotten like it never happened. The Sokovians are barely a second thought to AoU, not even Pietro's death matters besides a blink-and-you'll-miss-it picture of Clint's son + Wanda losing control for a moment. Not even in CW does she say anything about her own brother and the only discussion is about the death of an American. Tony's guilt doesn't translate into "shit, I made Ultron behind the team's back, this is my fault". It's "let's make this a team issue so that the responsibility is shared. And oh, Steve is so bad, isn't he?".
As for Edith, at no point during FFH is the existence of such a device discussed. Not even once. The drones are only used by the villain and we're supposed to believe that as long as that weapon is in the right hands then it doesn't matter if we sacrifice civil rights for "safety".
Zola's words during TWS apply to Stark and everything he did post-NYC invasion. Does it make sense character-wise? Sure, it does. Stark was unwell, he had been traumatized, etc etc. Cool, I get it. But why the hell does the narrative support everything he does instead of calling him out on it and stopping him?
He was okay pre-AoU but, man... he became insufferable afterwards.

A Second Chance
Tumblr media
CW: This is pretty self ship coded. It's vaguely fluffy so not really a need for a ton of tags, I'd think. It's a female reader fic. I'd say the reader and Pietro would be around in their twenties. It's definitely part of a possible series of one shots so it's the beginnings of a friends to lovers type situation. The only thing that could be maybe triggering is the kind of vague mentions of Pietro feeling "trapped" and the reader is there to kind of psychoanalyze him to a certain degree. I'm not sure how else to word that honestly.
Fandom: Marvel/MCU
Pairing: F!Reader x Pietro Maximoff
Word count: ~2.3k
Just a quick note that this would be well after Age of Ultron and I don't care if it's unrealistic, Pietro survived what happened in that movie because I said so (and yeah, that means this is the MCU version of Pietro, not the one in the X-Men movies) so prepare to suspend your disbelief or something. Or don't. I can't tell you what to do. This also means that the reader works for whatever entity really kind of popped up after AoU that the Avengers would sort of be working for before Captain America: Civil War.
Tumblr media
Pietro Maximoff felt like an animal trapped in a cage. He didn’t know why they were keeping him locked away. He had healed and was ready to get back out into the world. He felt like they had to know this, especially with all of their incessant poking and prodding. Whenever he asked someone anything, his questions were brushed aside and they would reassure him that he would be out of there before long. And then the cycle would repeat and Pietro would be left alone in the sterile room that reminded him of his time with HYDRA more than he let on.
It wasn’t the fact that he was getting antsy that pushed Pietro to ask when they were going to let him out. His sister needed him, didn’t she? At this point he was starting to doubt that Wanda was aware he was alive, although maybe that was the reason they were keeping him inside. Maybe they weren’t sure how to break it to her that Pietro had survived. It didn’t matter what the reason was though because he knew that eventually they were going to have to let him out and he wasn’t going to waste any time getting as far from this place as he could when that time came.
He paced the length of the room, moving at a natural speed for once. When he first woke up and was moved to his current room, he would run from one end of the room to the other. It didn’t take long before Pietro realized it wouldn’t do him any good. He wasn’t getting out and it only wasted his energy to zip around the room. At the moment he didn’t want to waste any energy on running around the small space but he felt that pent up energy building up and he hated that he didn’t have a proper outlet for it.
When someone knocked on his door, Pietro ignored it. It was common for someone to knock before dropping off food. If it was a doctor, they would enter without his permission anyway. He waited for the slot in the door to open and a tray to slide on to the ledge on his side of the door. It seemed too early for lunch but it wasn’t as if the speedster had any concept of time. He didn’t know how many days had passed, losing count quickly. He didn’t have the patience to keep track after a week had passed but he assumed he had been there for at least a month, maybe longer.
There was a second, more insistent knock on the door and this time Pietro moved cautiously but curiously toward it. No one knocked more than once and he thought that the sound held some level of urgency to it. His head tilted slightly as he listened at the door, not sure he would be able to tell who was on the other side if he tried. Someone knocked again and with a sigh, Pietro finally asked who it was. It was clear they wanted his attention and now they had it, not that he cared too much about who it might be.
“Pietro?”
He noted that the voice wasn’t familiar but it was soft and feminine and youthful. It wasn’t someone he had met before, as far as he could tell. They sounded hesitant which caught his attention more than the knocking. Not many people around this place were hesitant around him. Most seemed to know that there was security everywhere and he wasn’t a threat. He stepped closer to the door when he noticed the little slot had opened. He could see someone peeking inside but he didn’t recognize them. Pietro didn’t say anything but he did place a hand on the door, closing his eyes for a moment.
“I’m going to assume you can hear me, Pietro,” you continued. You cleared your throat. “My name is (y/n). Can I … can I come in?”
Pietro’s brows furrowed but he quietly backed away from the door. His new visitor had him too curious to not let her inside. He moved over to the bed and sat down but didn’t speak. He could be at the door and out of the room before anyone realized what was happening but his curiosity had gotten the better of him. Still he was being stubborn, not wanting to give anyone anything that they could use against him. If they were going to try to use him for who knew what, Pietro was going to make them work for it.
You walked in, opening the door wide enough to be able to slip in. The heavy door slammed shut behind you, making her jump as you heard the door lock, but you didn’t look back at the door. Your eyes were intently fixed on Pietro as soon as you saw him. Someone on the other side of the door gruffly told you that you had 15 minutes before they would come in and you muttered a curse under her breath.
Pietro noted that when you had whispered, it hadn’t been in English and for a moment he wondered what language it was. It sounded roughly like Sokovian but not enough that he was certain he recognized the language. He wasn’t curious enough to ask however. You bit your lip as you stayed near the door, looking him over slowly.
Pietro folded his arms across his chest but still didn’t speak. Instead he fixed you with an intense glare, his brows pulled tightly and a scowl on his face. You were pretty, which he noticed immediately, but he wasn’t going to let them lull him into a false sense of security. He might have been a flirt but he wasn’t an idiot. He wasn’t sure who had taken him in, SHIELD or HYDRA, and Pietro wasn’t sure he trusted either of them. That meant he wasn’t sure if he trusted you since he had no idea what your intentions were.
You swallowed thickly as your gaze turned down toward the floor. You weren't trembling but you looked close to it as you slipped your hands into the front pockets of your jeans. You stayed close to the door, timidly glancing at Pietro before looking away when your eyes met. Clearing your throat, you found your voice. “My name’s (y/n),” you repeated, not sure if he had heard you. Your gaze flitted around the room now to avoid making eye contact. “I’m here to talk.”
Pietro rolled his eyes, his arms still folded across his chest as he let out a sigh. He wasn’t sure he trusted that you were as timid as you seemed. It could have been an act. The fact that you seemed afraid of him annoyed the speedster as well. It wasn’t like he was going to hurt you. “I’m not feeling very talkative,” he bitterly said. “After all it’s hard to want to talk to people who keep me locked away in a cage.”
“Oh …” You looked up and stopped short at the look on Pietro’s face. Your lips curled up in a brief smile, trying to show you were there to help. Your hands fell to your sides and you shook your head. Your face softened as you took a couple of steps away from the door although you still kept some distance between yourself and the speedster. “I … I don’t think that’s what they’re trying to do here, Pietro.”
He watched as you moved toward him, his arms falling to his sides. He was still cautious so he stayed where he was, not wanting to let his guard down too soon. He especially didn’t want to let his guard down to a pretty face only to have it backfire. It was better to keep a bit of cautious optimism for the moment. Pietro wasn’t sure what you were doing there after all. He hoped that if he said as little as possible, you would tell him what he wanted to know. It seemed to be working so far although he wasn’t sure if you were as concerned about him as you appeared to be. He supposed it would be easy enough for someone to fake concern.
You swallowed hard again and took another couple of steps until you were standing at the foot of the bed where Pietro sat. “I can’t help you if you won’t let me,” you softly said, your gaze still locked with his for the moment. You bit her lip and nodded to the bed, finally glancing away from Pietro. “May I sit?”
Pietro silently nodded and watched as you carefully sat down. You seemed like you were both terrified and worried. He wondered which would take precedence, although it seemed like it was going to be your concern for his well-being. He felt his features melt into something less intimidating but he didn’t speak, still not sure he could trust you.
Even if part of him wanted nothing more than to trust you. Pietro knew, in the back of his mind, that he could use a friend.
You sighed, reaching up to tuck some of your hair behind your ear. “I’m sure all of this has been very difficult for you. I don’t doubt that it feels a lot like we’re keeping you here against your will,” you said, nodding your head slightly as you spoke. “I know that you have no reason to trust me but I promise that I won’t lie to you, Pietro. If it was up to me, we’d be having this talk somewhere much more comfortable than this.”
You waited for Pietro to speak and when he didn’t, you let out a nervous laugh. Your eyes roamed his face before you looked at your hands as they rested in your lap. You were too nervous to hold eye contact with him for long. “I don’t have much time but I wanted to introduce myself. I’m going to be coming by every day and I won’t stop trying until you open up to me,” you explained.
You looked up and frowned at the distrust you saw in Pietro’s eyes. “I know how that sounds but I’m not going to try to break you. I’m barely a licensed therapist but that’s why I’m here. I need to evaluate you before they’ll agree that it’s safe to …” You shrugged, gesturing toward the door.
“Before they let me out of my cell.”
You looked up, your eyes widening as you shook your head. “No, Pietro. This isn’t a cell. You’re here for your safety,” you said, your frown deepening. “After what happened, well, no one was sure how you were going to react to being … alive.”
Pietro narrowed his eyes again and sighed, shaking his head. He wasn’t going to let you tell him to trust you and then freely give you that trust. He knew your name but he didn’t know anything else about you. Clearly you knew about him or you wouldn’t have been there. He didn’t like being at a disadvantage like this. If you wanted his trust, you were going to have to earn it.
You bit her lip as Pietro sized you up, your cheeks heating up as you took a deep breath. You glanced toward the door briefly, knowing your time had to be dwindling faster than you would have liked. It wouldn’t be long before someone told you that your time was up and you knew you had barely gotten Pietro to speak to you. When you looked back at him again, you smiled shyly. “We have all of the time in the world. As much time as you need. So tell me how I can win your trust, Pietro.”
Pietro shook his head, shifting his weight as he moved away from you. He didn’t like the feeling of being psychoanalyzed, even if you claimed that you were ‘barely’ a therapist, and he didn’t like that you had piqued his interest. He leaned against the wall at the head of the bed, trying to look disinterested. “It doesn’t matter.”
“It matters to me,” you said with a quick shrug. Your voice was gentle and a bit timid. You tried to smile as you watched Pietro process what you were saying, hoping he would believe you. “It matters to my boss and his boss. It matters to a lot of people. If you can’t trust me, I don’t know when they’ll let you out of here. I just want to help get you out of this room and out somewhere that doesn’t feel so stifling.”
Pietro laughed humorlessly, rolling his eyes as he looked away. He wanted to trust you. He wanted to get out of this room because he was tired of staring at these same four walls. The problem was that Pietro didn’t know where to begin so he figured he could keep feigning disinterest until you told him something that made him feel safe with you. You seemed unassuming but it didn’t mean you were. Pietro was well aware of that.
“I’ll come back later and see if you feel more talkative then,” you said with a nod. You slowly stood, pausing as you watched Pietro. Your smile grew a bit as he looked at you but it was still timid. “I think we’re going to get along if you’ll trust me. I think we can help each other actually. You just have to trust me.”
Pietro watched as you walked to the door. He debated for a split second whether or not he should push you aside when the door opened to let you out but he stayed where he was. He was still staring at the door after it closed behind you. He didn’t know if he could trust you but there was something that was telling him to try. Maybe it wouldn’t lead to anything but if he could get out of this place, he knew he couldn’t keep being so stubborn about this for long. Eventually you would stop trying and Pietro wasn’t sure what would happen to him after that.
He wasn’t sure he wanted to find out either.

abruptly remembered that when I was on my way to the grocery store my brain went "okay but SteveNat deaging fic," even though deaging is not a trope I usually go for, because stressed-out teenage Red Room Nat and deeply confused teenage 1930s Great Depression Steve teaming up after *handwave* reasons.
meanwhile the rest of the post-AoU and pre-CW Avengers are chasing them in a panic but trying to find a Black Widow who doesn't want to be found is. hmm. extremely not easy and these freaked out teenagers have no reason to trust them.  Sam and Wanda have to go hunting for Bucky specifically to drag him into this clown chase.
unsure if Steve got deaged to pre-serum skinny Steve or if despite deaging he's still post-serum Steve as he would have been in his teens, though I’m kind of leaning towards still post-serum Steve because...reasons? to freak him out more. I like it when he’s freaked out.

I was wondering - when do you think Tony really started seeing Steve as a real person rather than as Captain America? I don't think he's there yet by the end of Avengers 1, but he definitely is by Endgame.
Part of me thinks it isn't until the Siberia scene in CW when Steve finally does something completely incomparable with Tony's idea of Captain America, but I'm not sure. It could be earlier. Thoughts?
TONY QUESTION!!!!!!! I love Tony questions. Thank you for the ask! <3
Now this is something that I have actually thought about because it's so, so interesting to me, and it makes everything make sense when looking how he treats Steve in those early stages. I actually have a google doc sitting somewhere with my ramblings about this. If I find it, I'll link it.
As for your opinion? We're on the exact same wavelength. I am a firm believer that Tony seeing beyond Captain America did not happen any time before CW. I'm so serious. If I was forced at gunpoint (a bazooka at least) to budge a little, maybe sometime between AOU and CW, but 100% not any sooner. And definitely not by the end of AV1 - that little handshake at the end was more of an acknowledgement of respect rather than a "Wow, Steve Rogers is an actual person and not just an irrelevant piece of the Captain America boogeyman I've built in my head all these years!". In fact, I'll say that Tony's immediate and unwarranted hostility towards Steve in AV1 is a direct consequence of Tony not seeing him as an actual person. I know you know this, but I'm just saying it again for whoever else may be reading.
And it makes sense for it to be a process, yeah? I mean, even when Tony has the realization that Steve is human, he then has to learn how to understand him. I actually think that seeing Steve as Cap rather than as Steve makes Tony a lot more comfortable, too. If he's just Captain America, then why would he care about Tony's obvious hatred of him (and it's funny because Tony intentionally pushes Steve's buttons to get a reaction but probably equally hates and loves whatever reaction he gets). If he's just Captain America then of course he would be so unbreakable, so resilient, so unwaveringly uptight and good and heroic. If he was just Steve, then that would be kind of daunting for someone like Tony, I think. God forbid Tony thinks, "Oh God, Howard wasn't exaggerating." Because that just adds another layer of insecurity/shame. To think Tony wasn't being compared to (in his eyes) this unreachable, larger than life legend - no, he was being compared to some random guy that truly embodies everything good.
Anyways, another reason why I'm pretty positive this didn't happen until at least after AOU is because of something Tony says to Steve in that movie. After they all have their nightmares, Tony says something like, "It didn't seem to affect you". Now, this is Tony both pushing for a reaction and actually seeing Steve as some stone wall that bad things just bounce off of. Tony feels unsteady, panicked and unbelievably worried and he looks at Steve and to him, Steve looks fine. Perfectly fine. Partially because Steve isn't letting his pain come through and partially because well, Steve's not new to this he's true to this lol. His nightmare is actually just his life. Tony isn't really seeing that though...or rather, doesn't know how to see pass Steve's facade in order to see it. He can't read him, he doesn't understand him, so he's taking Steve's reaction at face value. Which well, I'm not gonna blame him for, but it sure is interesting to think about...I love it so much. I love Tony so much, GOD.
Even after CW, I think among all the anger, grief, and guilt Tony sat with, it might have taken a while to untangle Steve. He's almost forced to sit down and really think about Steve, his motivations, his life, ect...I'd do just about anything to see it play out. Everything in CW, especially the Siberia fight, pushes Tony to make sense of Steve and his choices in order to figure out how everything went so wrong so fast. It's the only way he's gonna reach any kind of acceptance.
Endgame Tony is so special to me especially because of this exact reason btw. Like, thinking about how much introspection he may have done about his entire relationship with Steve and finally being at ease with Steve in EG....It means the world to me, actually. I love Tony so much. This put me right in my Tony feels, I'm so serious. THAT'S MY MAN, MY MAN, MY MAN!!!
So yeah! I don't think I can say anymore without rambling and going on 1,001 tangents lol <3

@seesternsstuff Oh boy this is a good question! Thank you so much!💕 I am mainly MCU stony, I admit I am not very versed in the other versions, so that is what we will be evaluating. Lets do one from each movie where they interact the most (Avengers, AOU, CW, and End Game). I even made snips for them 😊 (the quality might not be great, sorry!)
Avengers:
The put on the suit lets got a few rounds moment, compared to the put on the suit post explosion moment. The frenemie moment is beautiful (I love a good enemies to lovers, which they aren't, but the tention is still great!) Compared to the instant turn to lets work together come on—and Steve practically dragging Tony up and shoving him out the door! I love that tiny bit, and it feels underrated to me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
UOA:
There are a lot of moments to pick from in this one! The banter in the opening fight—beautiful. The pouty half-assed argument on the farm—perfection. BUT I'm going with the "I'm not in charge he is" moment on the Quinjet where Tony basically calls himself a sugar daddy and says Cap is the leader. I really just LOVE Tony openly saying no, he's the boss I just have the money. There are implications there, and I like them.
Tumblr media
CW:
Alright. This is where we start to get the heavy hitters. Steve stabbing Tony in the heart. Literally. Yes, they have been fighting on and off the whole movie, but THIS moment... the look on Tony's face when it happens; Steve's look of just exhaustion, with NO satisfaction. Its the moment Tony says, fuck we really are done...aren't we? And Steve is like, yeah it had to happen and I'm not happy about it. Their fucking faces!!!
Tumblr media
End Game:
Last one by the timeline and also my favorite 😭 Steve running to Tony when he returns from being stranded. He fucking bolted to him!!! Pep was right there too, but its HIM—Steve who runs to meet him, is the first one to touch him when he's back. And he doesn't just touch him. Steve GRABS his arm, it almost looks desperate. And, imo, you can see the look of "I'm safe now" in Tony. Like, just look at the gif. Look at him run, look at Tony's face, and tell me they both didn't just find home again.

Okey there's compared between Wanda action in age of ultron with sylvie in Loki season 2. The compared was about when they see the situation becoming bad.
Let's recap ultron in half of planning, then Wanda knowing what ultron want to do, she horrified not for herself but everyone then she trying stop ultron because even she in vengeful state to Avengers she no want everyone dead (about what happened in Johannesburg it's another thing that let's put a side for this discussion)
And then sylvie, Loki literally said there's will be problem because she kill her and sylvie saw the loom too that about explose that elwill ending all multiverse, she still not care about the disaster that on going, she started care when her McDonalds timeline was gone in front of her face when she literally being warned about consequence what she did
You see this compared? Which one actually care about other and which one that really selfish.
Oh btw while I still feel weird that Wanda just immediately join avenger after what she did, Wanda got her consequence her country was gone and her brother was dead. And sylvie? What consequence she got? Her McDonalds was gone but she still have tampad to go wherever she want, and she look Happy, there's no pain on her face or remorse.
I've made this whole point before
~Wanda, both in Age of Ultron and WandaVision, was presented with a choice. Your wants and feelings vs the well-being of others and, both times, Wanda chooses others. Sylvie is given that choice and she chooses herself.~
My defense of Wanda is not to say she is justified, a hero or even not selfish. My point is just that she's not evil and even if she never gets punished, she does face consequences. The Avengers don't trust in at first in AoU, she has to live on the run after CA;CW, everyone in Westview hates her and she doesn't get anything she wanted. Those are consequences. No one reacts to Sylvie like the person who murdered a bunch of their colleagues. No one calls her out on causing the mess that now has to be delt with. In the end she just gets everything she wants, and Loki gets nothing and she smiles and walks off like it's nothing.
As I have to make clear did not watch season 2. So, may not the full context, but it honestly doesn't sound like Sylvie did anything. I'm also unclear if the timelines came back or they just hopped to a new one. But either way, Sylvie only cares about herself and if it is the latter and Sylvie it shows she truly didn't even care about the people there, she just liked playing house and the people around her were disposable. In contrast to Wanda who did love her family it did have that basic human empathy for the people in Westview. Waldron doesn't write his suppose hero, Sylvie much different than he does when he writes Wanda as a villain, just saying.

So... Criminal R x Avenger Wanda?
cw. stockholm syndrome. other dark stuff.
this idea has me feral. i'm just imagining wanda in her AoU era, all goth and bratty with the accent. i'm imagining a wintersoldier!r, who was formerly recruited by hydra, but became a lone wolf, like an assassin or something.
you're the avengers target, and they're constantly chasing you. but then you get sick of it and take wanda as hostage. and she doesn't mean to fall for you, she really doesn't, but she does (???) because of all that stuff about a different person under the facade they put up, she empathizes with you about forced into a world of chaos since young.... stockholm syndrome basically.
along the way, you grow knowledge of her feelings for you and you exploit that, being the criminal you are ofc. so like, sexy times. definitely handcuffs thrown into the mix, with gun play and maybe degradation? but then you realize you don't entertain wanda just for your amusement. there's some... hidden feelings there.
so now wanda's your captive, and the avengers are about to kill you, and you're growing feelings for their newly recruited witch? uhm.
absolutely spewing shite, don't mind me. how'd yall feel about this as a fic?

The War is Over and We Are... by Hecate
Rating: Teen
Summary: After they beat Thanos, Steve and Tony muddle through what is left of their relationship.
Ending: Open/Ambiguous but hopeful with a hint of Happy for Now.
Why I'm Reccing: So, I'm not sure why this one comes up at the beginning of the alphabet. Maybe there's a space in the title or something, I don't know. But I am so so so pleased that this was the first fic I read upon returning to Stony fic.
I actually almost didn't click on it, and I waffled back and forth for a bit, because while this takes place after Endgame (edit: this was actually published *before* Endgame came out, but after Infinity War, but for me, it still works just fine with canon if we just ignore the last 15-ish minutes of the movie -- which I do!) , it is ultimately a Civil War fix-it. And I'm always so nervous with those, because a lot of them tend to paint Steve as being completely in the wrong and that's just very far from my own take.
But this fic doesn't do that! Steve feels guilt for the role that he played in Civil War, and everything that came after it, feels guilt about not trusting Tony more at the time -- but he also still has his own feelings about the things that Tony did (including in Age of Ultron). Not a lot of CW fix-its focus on the fact that it happened in the wake of AoU, and I'm glad that this one did, because I think it provides another necessary layer and nuance. Not that this dwells on Ultron, but it does come up as Steve is contemplating how they started to fall apart, and what he wants his relationship with Tony to look like in the future.
Y'all, this fic.... I haven't even finished reading it yet, but I had to start typing this up because I knew it was going to be my first rec. It is just an amazing character portrait of Steve (and also Tony, in a way, through Steve's thoughts about Tony) that feels incredibly in character for Steve in a way that stays true to who he is in canon, while also adding more depth to his character.
Since this is ultimately a reconciliation(ish) fic, it kinda gives those early 2012 post-Avengers getting to know one another vibes in parts of the fic (though everything is tinged with heartache and grief -- even the "happy" moments). Which I actually think is sort of a nice bookend to their relationship. And while this fic is short (only 4.5k) and so never actually gives us a complete reconciliation, we are left with hope that they will find their way back into one another's hearts, that they will work through their guilt, and their trust issues, and find a way to make it work this time.
I don't know. It just feels like a very realistic portrayal of where they would be post-Thanos. And the thing that I really like about this fic is that, in staying true to Steve's canonical characterization, we can feel him holding himself back from Tony, keeping his emotions close to his chest, and just how much it's hurting him to do that. In fact, we see a lot of Steve's recklessness in this fic, the way he's almost careless with himself. Steve is not a perfect character, he is flawed, and I wouldn't want him any other way, and this fic hits his flaws perfectly.
And look, I just need to add something. This fic is, in my opinion, extremely underrated. It only has 146 kudos, but whatever. I've read some truly atrocious fics with thousands of kudos, so kudos aren't everything. But when I went into the comments, the very first comments were from people complaining about the fic, about how Steve didn't do enough for Tony in the fic, and frankly being outright argumentative with the author (this argument made up the bulk of the fic's 18 comments), and that.... that really sucks. Cause this was a truly beautiful fic, and the author didn't deserve that. No author does, but it was especially shitty to see it on such a brilliant character study of Steve.
Anyway, if you give the fic a chance, and I really hope you do, especially if you are a Steve fan, please show the author some love.
~.~.~
Follow me on my journey as I make my way alphabetically through every Stony fic on AO3.

Ya know, the more I think about it, the more Tony Stark annoys me and I’ve realized that the events of Infinity War (and ig Endgame too technically) are literally all his fault. Because it all started with him in AOU when he went behind his teams back to create Ultron without thinking through any of the consequences and being arrogant enough to think that everything would go right because he’s the one who’s building it. If Sokovia was never destroyed, then that woman wouldn’t have came to him in CW about her son’s death. Which then caused Tony to AGAIN go behind his team’s back, and get the Ross/the Government to practically punish and restrict everyone, which is already bad enough but then he gives a whole speech trying to guilt the rest of the Avengers for fighting and correcting the problem that he literally created in the first place. He’s quite literally the reason for the sokovia accords that brought so much tension among everyone and once again, if he’d never built Ultron, Sokovia would still be standing and Zemo would have never did those things. So really, Tony IS the whole fucking reason the avengers broke up and weren’t together to fight Thanos the first round. But even more than that, the avengers (besides Thor and Banner) could’ve been all together to fight Thanos, having a better chance, if only Tony woulda swallowed his damn pride and pettiness and called Steve when he needed back up, instead of just being like “mmmm no I don’t wanna talk to him so I’m gonna fight this universe level threat without that support”. Literally everything is Tony’s damn fault, all because he wanted to make Ultron.

re ur completely factual accurate 100% verified post abt the names that tony calls steeb,, they're supposed to be names that he has called him in canon right? i just can't think of a time he actually calls him steve?
yess he's called him all of those things in the movies <3 i think he calls him cap the most and he really doesn't call him steve a lot, from what i can remember it's just the 3 times but correct me if i'm wrong!!
in age of ultron everyone is messing with mjolnir and when steve steps up tony says "go ahead, steve, no pressure"
in civil war tony says to sam "i'm just the guy who needs to know where steve went"
in endgame tony and scott mess up their mission and steve's like what are we gonna do now? and tony says "you know what, give me a break steve"
and we could talk about that forever.. like aren't those the peaks of their relationship in a way because in aou they were more comfortable with each other than they'd ever been and they genuinely liked each other and none of their bad history happened yet, in cw tension was at an all time high but tony was breaking the terms of the accords that HE ADVOCATED FOR like 5 minutes after he signed just to help steve and he needed sam to know that he was doing this for steve, and in endgame they had come back together and moved on from the bad stuff and even though it's a high stakes situation that went downhill, he's still calling him steve 🥺
