MHA Class 1-A ProHero Headcannons
Because I wanna pretend Manga Chapter 362 isnt happening LOL. I was just texting these to a friend but thought I’d put them here too. So not too detailed or based on much, just for fun :)
Also I’m ignoring a lot of Manga stuff and spelling oofs. And ALSO also, two students dont get a happy ending :( just fyi.
____
Bakugou Katsuki: Bakugou wpuld be ranked #2 because theres no way he’s NOT gonna get to #2 if he can’t be #1
Eijiro Kirishima: He would be the #1 Hero
Izuku Midoryia: Deku would be at #3, and perfectly happy with it because he learns he doesnt need to be #1 to be the hero he’s always wanted to be
Shoto Todoroki: Todoroki, after spending a year in the Hero Industry, discovers his passion for police work and joins the police force. He realizes he’s never needed to be a Hero to help people, and he can follow his dreams his way
Ochaco Uraraka: Uraraka is the #9 Pro Hero(and 1 of 3 females in the top 10 rank)and takes part in a lot of sponsorships. Which at first made the public think she was shallow, and Uraraka thought for a while she was going to have to go on a super annoying talk show just to set the record straight. But then more and more photoage of her kindness and compassion in Rescue Hero Missions went viral and soon people didnt care that she was in so many ads because she was a good hero
Kyoko Jiro: Jiro is ranked #10, and is considered the most beautiful hero. Its un related to her work and rank, but the public has decided shes the most beautiful. Which actually makes Jiro really happy, because it gives her an outer confidence she didnt have in school.
Tsuyu Ausui: Froppy is not in the top 10 heros. However, on top of Hero Work she also stars in a childrens TV show :)) I just feel like she would LOL
Momo Yaoyorozu: Momo was on her way to becoming the 1# Hero, but only got to #5 before she left the profession. She went on to become a professional Financial Agent for Heroes trying to achieve personal goals.
Mina Ashido: Mina is the #5 hero
Tooru Hagakure: Hagakure is the #4 Hero, you could say she snuck up the ranks ;)
Tenya Iida: Iida is the #8 Hero. And while he of course works to be better and climb up the ranks, the world did eventually learn about the STAIN incident and he’s been having trouble with gaining public approval.
Mezo Shouji: Is the #7 Hero, and is considered a handsome hero. He’s super flattered because he was always considered creely looking. But now as an adult he’s considered mysterious and alurring
Denki Kaminari: Denki is the #6 Hero and is a huge role model for nerodivergents. It was a huge thing when he “came out” as having ADHD on live TV. It was when he was being interviewed after a mission and he kept looking all around. The reporter asked if he was looking for something, if there was a villain— but Denki just laughed and said “sorry i forgot my ADHD meds today!”.
Mashirao Ojiro: Ojiro became a teacher at UA for martial arts and self defense, and the students admire him for his soft and kind voice. All Might is loud(even in skinny form)and Aizawa can be harsh. Ojiro is the perfect balance :)
Fumikage Tokoyami: Tokoyami worked very hard as a Hero, but could never gain the public approval required even as an underground Hero. He and Dark Shadow went off the grid and now work as vigilantes.
Kouji Kouda: Koda works in more remote areas, a rescue Hero for natural disasters. He uses his quirk with the Local Wildlife that just can’t be found in the cities.
Hanta Sero: Works in very crowded and run down cities. Because he works in smaller yet packed places, he has a more personal relationship with the people he protects. Think spiderman
Rikido Sato: Because of his quirk, he wasnt liked very much. People thought he encorraged unhealthy diets, and that he looked big and scary. Rikido snapped after 3 years in the Hero industry, and is now a villain. He is known by other villians as loud and violent.
Yuuga Aoyama: An average Hero, but not a bad one. He often partners with Uraraka in advertisments and guest stars on Froppy’s kid show
Minoru Mineta: After watching a famous Hero become ‘cancelled’ for sexual assault, Mineta worked to change his veiw points. He’s making progress, but is staying out of the Spotlight just in case.
___
Ok I think that was everyone LOL. Again, these were just for fun! Not a lot of thought into them lol. Kay byyyye!

Lillian's Thoughts on Aoyama Division
Tumblr media
Tomi Chōten
"Tomi Chōten, also known as 'High Class'. Subject is a self-proclaimed 'socialite', making a living mingling with other members of high society. Subject was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, and has experienced little to no hardships due to his family's wealth and status. His mother, Okawa Chōten, works for Chuohku as one of our spokespersons. Like Kaori-san and Mei-san mentioned, despite the passion in all of her speeches, it is quite obvious to the trained ear that she does not believe half of what she is saying, and is only speaking because she is being paid to say what she does.
"Despite his persona, subject suffers from a well-hidden inferiority complex that he hides behind an arrogant and overbearing attitude. Subject appears to have a very high opinion of himself, but cannot handle failure or rejection. Subject is also afraid of disappointing his parents or peers, which only adds to his sorrow. It's believed this stems from his younger brother, who was cast out by his parents after failing to adhere to their strict lifestyle. Subject's paranoia is easily exploitable, not making him a threat."
Karada Kessaku
"Karada Kessaku, also known as 'Nike'. Subject is a well-known bodybuilder, specializing in events that showcase his impressive physique. Subject also works as a trainer, helping the women of his city and division by performing and scheduling sessions with them, which he helps them to get active and increase their stamina. Personal opinion states that these 'sessions' are little more than promiscuous rendezvous that he uses to exploit the women of Aoyama.
"Subject did not have a healthy childhood due to his father leaving his mother before he was born, and his mother dying when he was only five years old from sickness. Subject was primarily raised by his grandfather, whom subject would eventually come to love and respect despite his early attitude towards him. Subject possesses incredible strength and stamina, but has difficulty with certain mental issues. Subject is deemed not a threat."
Luis Kōkyū
"Luis Kōkyū, also known as 'El Dorado'. Subject is a famous chef and restaurant owner, which has made him well-known throughout all of Japan for his exotic dishes. Subject was trained how to cook by his grandmother, whom he loves and cherishes dearly due to her being the only parental adult to show him any love during his childhood. Subject's parents only married each other for money, and reports show that despite still being married, both have many partners on the side, which only increases subject's hate towards them. Personal opinion states that I can understand fully how Subject feels.
"As stated, subject received little to no love or affection from his childhood. And because of his physical appearance, subject was frequently ridiculed and bullied by his peers in high school, causing a great deal of animosity towards others. Subject was eventually approached by Subject Kessaku, who became his first friend, which continues on to this day.
"Subject is a calm and quiet individual despite his tendency to put on airs in front of certain people. Subject is not a threat, but caution should be used when dealing with him, as his persona greatly resembles that of Doppo Kannonzaka's of Shinjuku, in that he can explode once pushed over the edge, especially in regards to his grandmother, friends or physical appearance."
Jet Set Trio
"Despite the group being one of the earliest to form, Aoyama Division, Jet Set Trio, is not deemed a threat by Chuohku. The team formed after Otome-sama sent an invite to Subject Chōten, forcing him to enter. Team has only had one battle thus far, and lost badly against Ueno Division, Sakurai Clan. Despite love for and popularity for the division is still shown, despite the group's arrogant and uppity attitude, mainly shown by Subject Chōten.
"Interaction with group seems unlikely, due to their elimination from the tournament. However, if battle occurs, taking out Subject Kessaku first should be wise as he is the group's main form of defense. Afterwards, taking Subject Kōkyū out next would be the best course of action, followed lastly by Subject Chōten.
"Report and analysis on Aoyama Division, Jet Set Trio, is completed. Moving on to next available assignment."

DVHS Reread: Chapter I.I
I already had fun with the last one, so here’s the next!
His expression is unreadable, though I detect something like a mixture of suspicion and anxiety. It’s an odd mix, though maybe not for this situation. I don’t know. I’ve never been in a killing game before.
He technically has, though. I would trust his judgment.
“Self-imposed rules.” Abe’s response comes easily enough.
If you didn’t notice, his rules are almost exactly like the ones that Celeste suggested, again since he saw the original broadcast.
But I think this is a good group of people. With rules like this, I think we’ll be just fine.
Ha
Being a popular blogger must really go to his head. He’s acting like we’re his royal servants or something.
One of my friends called Aoyama “broke Togami” and I think that’s pretty accurate at the beginning lol
“It’d be a lot easier if you pitched in a little,” Rikimaru gripes, somehow maneuvering two chairs over at once in her heels. I’m pretty sure she could stab someone with those.
I don’t remember if I put this in specifically as foreshadowing or not but it’s funny that it kind of is.
“Aww, dismissed already? I though we would have a super-fun sleepover or something!” I pointedly ignore him until he sighs dejectedly. “Fine. I’ll go bother- er, talk to someone else. Toodle-oo!”
My mom and gf like my Monokuma impression. It’s not the best, but I do think I write him well haha
MONOKUMA THEATRE I
Brought to you by me explaining to my dad that, yes, I do have anxiety and am afraid of certain situations (perhaps irrationally)
To the left is the connecting hallway to the school building. According to Ikeda, that was where he, Ueda, Hamasaki, and Fujimoto got lost yesterday.
...I can’t tell if this is wrong or not. I literally said they got lost in the dorm area earlier in the chapter but the connecting hallway technically is and gets them to the gym, where they needed to be.
There’s a click behind me at the same time the monitor nearest me crackles to life. I yelp as I fall onto my back once the doors open behind me.
There are some moments where Camila is just. Me.
Sparing me from the rest of that sentence, Oshiro comes skipping in with Maeda, Yoshida, and Matsumoto trailing behind her. “You’re in a good mood,” I note, glad to have someone else to talk to. Maybe that’s bad of me, but it’s a good opportunity to get to know them. “Did you find an exit?”
“No,” Maeda grumbles as he collapses into his chair. He sends Oshiro an annoyed look. “She’s just always like this, apparently.”
I had lots of fun writing Oshiro as well.
I turn to talk to Hamasaki, but she’s already engrossed in conversation yet again with Fujimoto, probably about the lyrics he’s writing. Now I definitely get why Ueda called them lovebirds earlier. Their personalities mesh perfectly along with their talents. I lowkey expect them to start making out any minute now.
Me pushing my hamamoto agenda
“Alright, we should go in an orderly fashion. Why don’t we have one person from each group give a report on what they found?”
I’ll tell you one thing they didn’t find: the laundry room. Because, even though I was using a map when discussing this section, I somehow looked over the laundry room? So it just. Doesn’t exist here.
“It’s not that I’m suspicious of possible killers,” Abe finally says. He leans against the counter with crossed arms and sharp eyes. “I’m trying to determine which one of us is the one controlling all of this. You know- the mastermind.”
Don’t lie, you already know who it is
Monokuma’s red eye seems to glow wickedly. “I mean, you’ve forced my paw! Tomorrow, you will be handed your first motive. That’ll stick it to ya! Lazy bastards, can’t even start a killing game properly. Oh, how times have changed!”
I thought this part was clever lol
Now that he brought it up, I realize that the only clock in the room is broken, frozen at the time 11:37, strangely enough.
Get it like 11037

{one week} PART 1
xbakugou's!sis!reader (Hanta Sero)
(your name is Satsuki)
WARNINGS: Abuse, blood, name calling, anger, screaming, crying, mean words [No profanity]
~~~~~
Satsuki Bakugou had an even worse temper than Katsuki Bakugou. Yup, that lowlife has a twin sister who's also in class 1-a.
Sero, Mina, Denki, and Kirishima were in the common room when Mineta ran in. He was shivering and muttering.
"Dude, you good?" Denki eyed him.
"SHE'S COMING TO MURDER ME!!" He screamed. A spike headed blonde slowly walked in with a murderous gaze.
"Oi Grape-Balls," she yanked Mineta out of the room and slammed the door. Soon, the sound of explosions and screams could be heard.
Monday was murder.
"Today I'll team you up for practice. In the future, you'll have to team up as pros so make sure you take this to heart," Aizawa droned. The teams;
Mineta - Crazy 1 (Katsuki)
Sero - Tokoyami
Momo - Ojiro
Todoroki - Sato
Shoji - Iida - Mina
Midoriya - Tsuyu
Uraraka - Jirou
Hagakure - Aoyama
Denki - Crazy 2 (Satsuki)
Koda - Kirishima
Satsuki shot a nasty glare at Denki, "Screw up, and an 'F' won't be the only thing haunting you in your nightmares."
Denki stepped behind his boyfriend, "She's gonna kill me."
"She wants to save people because otherwise she wouldn't be a hero," Sero snickered, draping an arm around her neck.
"Touch me again and I'll strangle you with your own tape," she snapped.
"That's kinda kinky..." Sero flashed a dopish grin.
"YOU FREAKING RAT!! YOU BETTER SHUT YOUR TAPE DISPENSING SELF UP BEFORE I KILL YOU!! She grabbed his ear and shook him violently.
"Alright, time to start," Aizawa stated, "First, Momo and Ojiro vs Hagakure and Aoyama."
Momo and Ojiro won. After several other teams had gone, it was Mineta and Katsuki vs Sero and Tokoyami.
"So Satsuki, I bet you're rooting for Bakugou, yeah?"
In response, the girl flashed a menacing glance. "I don't care who else wins, I only care about my win."
In truth, she was rooting for Sero's team.
Tuesday was alright.
Satsuki walked into class, throwing a hasty glance towards Sero. Right away, she took notice of the way he flinched when someone moved abruptly or would make contact with him. She noted the way he would tug down his sleeves every so often as if he was hiding something. Something was definitely off and Satsuki mentally scolded herself for not noticing sooner.
Either he harmed himself or he was being abused and Satsuki intended to find out and try to help him.  Throughout the day, she made sure she knew where he was and who he was with, keeping an eye on the boy. She remembered yesterday, Sero telling his friends he was going to visit his parents for a minute.
'Definitely his parents. He probably didn't willingly go to see them. I'ma palm his phone.'
Satsuki managed to swipe the boy's phone.
'The idiot doesn't even have a passcode.'
She scrolled through his contacts, clicking on 'Dad' first.
'The girl was horrified' was an understatement.
4:21 AM
Oi brat!
Your report card came
Your mother and I are disgusted
You better come tonight and explain you maggot
Or we'll be disowning you, you idiotic runt-faced mutt
She had enough. Tears were threatening to spill. She returned the phone without being caught, locked herself in her dorm, and cried about the fact that her *crush* classmate was going through this.
Wednesday was pretty depressing.
Today they had the day off to study for an exam the next day. Sero left for his house, Satsuki being the protective person she was, had sent his address to herself when she stole his phone. As she approached his house, she heard angry yelling, screams, cries, and whimpers of pain, clashing, and coughing. She notified Aizawa of the situation before knocking on the door.
All noise ceased and footsteps clamored to the door. It opened, revealing a ghastly man.
He had a sharp hooked nose, thin lips, patchy stubble, greasy, black hair, and beady green eyes. How could such a grotesque man be the father of such a beautiful boy...? Is what Satsuki's unconscious mind was saying.
"Who're you?'
"Like I'm gonna tell you that, Captain Hook," she hissed. He peeled his lips back.
"Get lost, girlie."
"Make me, bastard."
"Look here kid, get the hell off my property or I'll call the cops."
"Funny you think I let people walk all over me like that," she spat.
"So, why were you yelling?"
"...my coworker w-"
"No. That's not what I asked. I want the truth because he deeper you dig your lying deceit hole, the farther your lying ass will have to climb out of it. Just doing you a lil' favor y'know...?"
"Look, I know your dirty little secret but I'm gonna have to stop you right there. Now either you let me in or I go in by force," she sneered.
"N-"
"M'k, that's how you wanna do it then..." She shoved the male back and slipped inside, crouching next to Sero who was in a, pain stricken state and a small puddle of his own blood. Tears stained his face as his closed eyes moved around rapidly in his suffering.
She sat cross legged and gently hauled the boy into her lap. His waist against her torso and his head resting in the crook of his neck. Satsuki stroked his hair with one hand while the other rested on his waist, rubbing small circles on it with her thumb.
Aizawa arrived a minute ago and took control of the situation, capturing Sero's dad. Satsuki pressed a soft kiss to Sero's temple and whispered something in his ear.
"You're safe, I've got you."
Thursday was a beautiful miracle.
Sero had yet to wake up as he lay in Recovery Girl's office in bandages. It was 5pm and she hadn't slept in 2 1/2 days straight. She sat by his side the entire time, refusing any food or pleas.
"You gotta rest or eat," Mina begged.
"No. I'm leaving until elbows wakes up," Satsuki growled and glared at the pink teen.
That was earlier.
Right now, Satsuki sat and stared at Sero with a pang of dejection impaling her chest. He was in so much pain this whole time and she didn't even notice.
'What was it about yesterday that made me notice...? Damn, maybe it was because I finally accepted the fact that I liked the moron and I couldn't do anything about it....
Maybe I should've accepted it sooner. Then maybe he wouldn't have gotten hurt...'
Something on her face must've changed because recovery Girl took the girl's hand in her own.
"Dear, you did a good thing. The kind of thing a hero would do. And...Maybe even a lover~" The old woman said the last part in a teasing manner. Satsuki turned a shade of red and huffed, returning her gaze to the boy.
"I wish," she replied with bitterness and distaste, disliking the idea of not being able to be there for Sero, even if it was just as a friend.
6pm.
Kirishima and Denki decided to drop in and see how Satsuki was holding up. She was savage as ever. They started arguing but they didn't notice Sero beginning to sit up, wincing in pain as he went. They stopped what they were doing and looked at him.
"Welp, that's my cue to leave. Later," the girl trudged out of the room, feeling guilty.
"Huh, why was she even here in the first place?" Sero asked, throwing a confused glance at the door.
"She was the one that contacted Aizawa and they stopped your dad. She didn't even beat him up, she went straight to you...Brought you to recovery Girl yesterday morning and stayed with you since. Didn't eat, sleep, or drink," Denki said smugly.
"And when we tried to get her to eat or sleep, she snapped at us and refused to even stand up from the chair," Kirishima added with a knowing light.
"Oh...."
Sero didn't want to believe what his mind and heart told him to.
Friday was painfully endearing.
Sero wasn't yet discharged so he asked Recovery Girl to get Satsuki. She complied and went to fetch the Bakugou. When the duo entered the room, Sero made eye contact with a very pissed Satsuki.
"What?" She gnashed.
"I-I uh, just uuhh...Thanks," he whispered the last part bashfully, turning pink. The girl's face softened as she calmed.
"Whatever elbows.." She turned to leave but he grabbed her wrist, terrified of her soon to come reaction.
"Wait, at least stay. I want company..." He admitted with a triangular smile. Satsuki returned it with a faint smile.
"I guess I could spare a few minutes," she replied softly.  The boy was more than pleased with her calm response.
"Why'd...Why'd you do it...?" He questioned nervously.
"I-....I guess 'cause...." She stammered quietly, a shadow covering her eyes.
"You don't have to tell me, I was just curious," he smiled and rubbed his neck.
"Yeah, maybe later," she replied hoarsely.
"Hey, how come you're quiet...? You're usually ready to murder anyone that breathes," Sero laughed.
"Because the old lady over there would probably kick my butt if I was too loud," the blonde grumbled.
"Oh okay."
Saturday was soft Baku times.
Sero was finally released and he was immediately tackled by his friends. But he just needed to talk to one.
"Hey Bakugou, can I talk to you for a sec?"
"Whatever the hell you want, no."
"I don't want anything, I just have a question."
"Whatever," once the two boys were in a secluded spot, Sero sighed.
"I asked Satsuki yesterday but she didn't answer. Why'd she help me...Doesn't she hate everyone like you?"
Silence.
"Uh, Bakugou....You're kinda scaring me man..." Sero backed away a little. Bakugou threw his head back and started cracking up.
Once he calmed down, he looked Sero in the eyes and leaned closer to his friend's ear.
"The child has a thing for you~"
what.
Sero's eyes widened and he was left in a trance.
A little while later, Sero found Satsuki beating Mineta up.
"What's happening..?"
"THIS PERVY WORM GROPED MOMO AND SPANKED MINA!!" The girl bashed Mineta's head with her boot.
"Are you defending your friends?"
Sero got a hit on the head too.
But it wasn't hard, which surprised him. Satsuki had already left the room. He ran to catch up to her. Sneaking up behind her, he slithered his arms around her waist and rested is chin on her shoulder. She tensed up and shifted slightly.
"Wh-what are you doing?" She said in a scratchy voice.
"I just want a hug~" He purred in her ear.
She shuddered and lurched forward but brawn wise, Sero won. He let go and she turned to face him.
"That was a joke. But seriously, I wanna repay you. So...wanna go out tonight?" He grinned and her face had surprise written all over it.
"Uh...Sure, I guess," she turned her head away trying to hide her red face.
"Sweet, I'll pick you up at 5," he kissed her cheek and walked away.
Sunday was a date.
Not Letting Go (Yandere Bakugou x FemReader)
It was still strange to you, not being with Bakugou.
There was still a part of you that was surprised each time you walked past Bakugou’s table at lunch, each time you didn’t partner with him in class, each time you didn’t wait for him to walk you back to dorms. It went against every instinct that had been ingrained in you, and each time you went against those instincts, even nearly a month after breaking up with Bakugou, it still pierced you through with anxiety. It probably didn’t help that you still saw him all of the time, whether in class, at the dorms, or just around campus. But that, you supposed, was inevitable so long as you both attended UA. And it was, ultimately, something that you would be able to live with.
What you could not live with, however, were the seemingly infinite ways in which Bakugou had decided to make your life a living hell. Now, the two weeks or so after you broke up with him, Bakugou had left you alone for the most part. Other than, of course, the constant stares that you would find him giving you, stares that at first were smug and self-assured, then turned into confused resentment, and finally into bitterness. It was when that stare appeared that Bakugou seemed to have decided that he had had enough of sitting there silently and letting you get away with leaving him.
His first move was a relatively simple one. Somehow, he convinced each member of your class not to pair up with you for partner work, leaving you with no other choice but him. You, however, simply responded by working alone. Although, you still had to deal with Bakugou breathing down your neck, trying to brush up against you at every opportunity he could find.
Next, no matter how quickly you ran out of class once the school day ended, Bakugou would find a way to be right behind you. The first few days that he did that, he simply walked behind you in silence, as if he was trying to force things back to the days when he escorted you everywhere, insisting that he needed to stay with you to keep you safe. Soon enough though, he realized that you weren’t going to play along, simply ignoring him as if he wasn’t even there. And if there was one thing that Bakugou refused to tolerate, it was being ignored.
He moved then to take your hand as you made your way back to the dorms. Again and again, you pulled your hand out of his grip, Bakugou letting you with no more than a glare. He just had to wear you down, he reassured himself, to remind you of what you really wanted. Patience was never his strong suit though, so on the fifth day of you rejecting his touch, he simply tightened his grip and refused to let you out of it.
“Stop it,” you had hissed, partly in anger and partly in pain. Bakugou only seemed to hear the pain though, loosening his grip ever so slightly and bringing your hand to his lips as if he were about to kiss your pain away. Before he did though, something hardened in his previously soft eyes, Bakugou reminding himself that this was all your own fault.
“How long are you planning to keep up this tantrum?” he growled, his anger enough to have you wincing, even while he stroked the back of your hand with his thumb.
“As long as it takes,” you had tried to explain to him, “for you to realize that you can’t treat me like you own me, Bakugou.” None of your words seemed to register with him though, that is, except for the last one.
“It’s Katsuki,” he said with a disappointed frown. “You can’t call your boyfriend by his last name.”
Sighing at his single-mindedness, you spotted Iida and Uraraka making their way down the hall, and you slipped your way out of Bakugou’s grip to join the safety of their company. Bakugou stared at you intensely as you walked away, clenching his fists in rage at the way that you still seemed to think that those extras could take care of you like he did, that they cared about you the way that he did. His next move, he realized, would have to be to show you just how wrong you were.
The following day, at the start of lunch, you moved to join Izuku, Iida, Uraraka, Tsuyu, and Shoto at the end of their table, as was your new routine. It only took five seconds though before Bakugou had seated himself in front of you.
“Do you need something?” you asked stiffly, fighting the temptation to drop your gaze from the burning red eyes that seemed to only see you.
“Do I have to need something to sit with my classmates?” Bakugou answered with a smirk.
“K—Kacchan,” Izuku pleaded, “she doesn’t feel comfortable with you here. Can’t you go back to your own table?”
“Last I checked,” Bakugou scoffed, “we didn’t have assigned seating during lunch.”
“Be as that may,” Iida said, “if you continue to bother her, I will have no choice but to report you to Aizawa.”
“Report what? That I sat down at a table? That’s a pretty shitty definition of bothering.”
Sensing the full-blown argument that was about to break out around you, you grabbed your lunch with a roll of your eyes and left the table. It only took you a moment to spot where Jiro and Tokoyami and another moment to join them. Unfortunately, it only took Bakugou a moment to follow you. Exchanging a silent glance, your classmates seemed to agree not to get involved, turning their attention back to their food with sheer determination.
“I can do this all day, babe,” Bakugou told you.
“Good thing then that you only have till the end of lunch.”
With that you picked up your lunch again, this time moving to sit with Momo, Hagajure, and Ojiro. But once again, Bakugou was close behind. He was there when you sat down with Aoyama and Koda, and there again when you sat with Shoji and Sato. At each table, he was there, and each table either stayed silent or only protested weakly until they withered under his glare. Your options almost all gone by this point, you turned to the table you had looked forward to sitting with nearly every day for so long but now you weren’t totally sure would side with you.
“Hey, guys,” you greeted them, standing nervously at the edge of their table as Kirishima, Mina, Kaminari, and Sero stared at you in confusion. “If I sit with you, will you promise not to let Bakugou sit here?”
“But Bakugou always sits here!” Kaminari said.
“I know, but—”
“Don’t you think that this has gone on long enough?” Mina said with a pout. “I know you two had some fight, but you’re so good together!”
“It wasn’t just some fight,” you sighed, not in the mood to explain it.
“He really misses you,” Kirishima added. “He won’t actually say it, but he does. Can’t you make up with him?”
“I just—whatever. I’ll find somewhere else to sit.”
Cursing yourself for thinking they would side with you over Bakugou, you began to drag yourself towards the last table with one of your classmates sitting at it, wondering if you were really that desperate. As you approached Mineta, your doubt only grew, and you wondered if you should just accept defeat and turn around. Even though you didn’t glance back, you could still feel the return of Bakugou’s smug stare digging into your back, utterly sure that you were about to come crawling back to him like you should have done days ago. Still, you forced yourself forward, until you were sitting across from the purple-haired pervert himself.
“Uh, h—hi,” he stammered, already drooling at the fact that you had sat with him of your own free will.
“Hi,” you said bluntly.
“So, uh, what brings you—”
“Scram, you little shit,” came a voice from behind you, one that growled with a possessiveness that was intimately familiar to you. You watched as all of the blood drained from Mineta’s face, an image that you normally would have been thrilled to see, but now only informed you just how furious Bakugou was at your attempts to avoid him. Laying a hand on your shoulder and squeezing it tightly, Bakugou narrowed his crimson eyes at Mineta, threatening him in utter silence.
“S—sorry, Bakugou! I was just leaving, I swear!” Mineta insisted, scooping up his lunch as fast as he could and running to the other end of the cafeteria. Once again you were left with Bakugou, who quickly moved from standing behind you to sitting next to you, though he kept his hand on your shoulder the entire time.
“Haven’t seen you in a while,” Bakugou said, his eyes drinking in the image of you so close before him as if the sight of you alone was all that he needed to live.
“You see me every day,” you reminded him softly, fidgeting under his grip.
“You know that’s not what I meant. Seeing you in class, from a distance, when you won’t talk to me, won’t look at me, that’s not fucking good enough.”
“Well, that’s all you’re going to get,” you answered, about to stand up from the table. When you tried though, Bakugou stopped you, pinning you down with that one hand on your shoulder.
“I’m getting really sick of your attitude, you know,” he snarled. “I tried to be nice, to give you some space like you wanted, but I guess that was a mistake.”
“I didn’t want space,” you huffed. “I broke up with you. That means I’m not coming back.”
“See, that’s where I went wrong,” Bakugou said, his voice softer as he cupped your cheek. “I thought if I just gave you space, that you would remember that we belong together, and you would come back. But you being away from me just ended up making you confused. You need to be reminded that I’m the only one who can love you the way you need. Lucky for you though—”
“Is he bothering you?”
Turning around at the sound of a new voice, you saw one of the last people you expected standing there. It was Monoma from Class 1B. In all honesty, you had always thought he was kind of a jerk. He wasn’t even looking at you, instead staring at Bakugou with his usual self-satisfied smirk. But still, at this moment, it was as if heaven had found the one student at UA who wouldn’t let himself be intimidated by your ex-boyfriend.
“Yes, actually,” you told him. “He is.”
“How about you sit with me and my classmates? We in Class 1B won’t let him harass you. And given his reputation of bullying our class, if he tries to pull anything, I’m sure the teachers will intervene on our behalf,” Monoma practically bragged, holding out his hand for you to take. As you reached for it though, Bakugou pulled you back into his chest, leaning down to whisper in your ear.
“Don’t you fucking dare,” he ordered. At his tone, so darkly possessive, you faltered, your hand freezing. When you two were dating, that was the same tone he would use when you were in trouble, a tone that told you that something very unpleasant was going to follow. Even now, as you reminded yourself that Bakugou wasn’t your boyfriend any longer, you hesitated to disobey him when he gave you an order like that. So you let your hand fall, watching sadly as Monoma rolled his eyes and walked away. You weren’t able to watch for long though, as Bakugou grasped your chin tightly and moved your eyes back to his. Forced to stare into his eyes, you saw there the gaze that you had once loved so much, the one in which Bakugou looked at you as if you were the only other person who mattered, the only other person in the world.
Daisuzu shopping 💗
I thought about Daisuke's night at Kato's place and wondered if he'd ever consider repeating "the same mistake" again. Living a life of a commoner is strange for a millionaire, but he'll get the hang of it.
~o0o~
It was yet another busy day at the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department. The crew managed to catch the criminals responsible for the robbery of the "Space Jewelry" shop in Ginza, the Tokyo's most famous upmarket shopping district. After he filled the report and got himself patched from a fight with one of the resisters, Daisuke returned to his mansion with bandages and sterile gauze wrapped around his upper arm. It wasn't that deep but the cut on his maroon dress shirt wouldn't be fixed so easily.
Suzue had enough of constantly throwing away beautiful garments of clothes and Daisuke's closet was becoming emptier by each day. Therefore, she decided to do him a favor and buy the suits by herself. She got dressed in her beige trenchcoat after their meal and before she left the residence, Daisuke stopped her and asked if he could join her in whatever she needed help with. This surprised Suzue because he was never interested in these kinds of things, she was usually in charge of the purchases. Daisuke insisted because, after he spent his time at Haru’s place, he realized just how important it was for him to get involved in the everyday life of a simple man and learn how things around him work. And Suzue was never happier to comply.
Daisuke felt a little odd that he had to blend in with the large crowd of simple commoners, the busy traffic, and the constant commotion. Does Suzue really have to deal with this every single day? He suddenly felt self-aware and didn't know where to put his hands. He saw a couple holding hands and felt a little awkward because he didn’t know how Suzue would react if he performed the same thing. Therefore he extended his elbow in a gentleman-like fashion and offered her to take it. She smiled the sweetest smile and accepted it, he didn't even know what he found so compelling in this situation but it made him content as well.
They arrived at Aoyama boutique in one of the wealthiest neighborhoods around. And although it has a great reputation in fashion industry, they offered casual designs with hight quality and inexpensive prices. The moment they walked in, Daisuke was instantly drawn to the expensive section of the shop but Suzue needed to drag him away to the part they were looking for.
"But Suzue, these suits aren't as good as the ones on display."
"That's because every store has a simple costumer tactic they're using for psychological reasons. For them, it is important that they have strong in-store visuals and display their best products in front of the complex. Our current task is to buy a bunch of suits with high quality and lower price. Remember, we're buying you work clothes which are easily expendable but made of quality materials to make them last longer. Besides, you already have suits for special occasions at home."
"I know but.." Daisuke felt discouraged.
Suzue could see his uneasiness and eyes averting in thought "What's wrong?"
"The day I bought Abura Emirate's seventh prince's car-"
"You did what?"
"It's true. We needed the car to catch two young people responsible for the robbery of the chocolate store."
Suzue laughed softly "This is silly."
"I know. And the prince was looking down on my clothes for some reason. I lost my nerve and made a quick purchase."
"You were rough again?"
"Yes I was."
Suzue approached him and put her hand on his cheek "Maybe the prince was boisterous but you are old money, Daisuke-sama, and a person like him won't survive long enough in the royal district. You're the real deal, so I advise you not to bother with such people if that's what you really want."
Daisuke looked surprised and somewhat flustered. Suzue panicked a little when she realized what she just did and nervously told them to continue looking for his clothes.
After they finished with the shopping, Suzue couldn't help it but to head towards the Aoyama Farmer's Market with fresh homemade products.
"I thought we were going home?"
"I know but these products are healthier than those from the supermarket. I'm only thinking about your health, you'll thank me later."
Daisuke just watched her walking enthusiastically towards one of the stands and he was shaking his head while smiling. He found it cute when she gets so carried away. Suzue spotted the jam of her choice stacked on a high shelf, she tried to reach it but even her high heels couldn't help her. In vain attempts to get it, she didn't notice Daisuke standing next to her and taking what she wanted. Their hands barely brushed against each other and they nervously looked at different directions. He handed it to her and she thanked him.
Noticing her tension, Daisuke wanted to relax her so they wouldn’t find themselves in similar situations and not to make her nervous anymore. He could only guess why this was happening but, being clumsy the way he was, he couldn't fully establish the reason of her behavior. However, he tried and proposed to take her to Cheery Blossoms at Aoyama Cemetery. Suzue instead, became so flustered upon hearing his suggestion that he got worried and asked her if he should take her somewhere else which she refused because she didn't want to disappoint him if he really wanted to go there.
And that's where they were, sitting on a bench and watching the peaceful sight of the beautiful cherry blossoms. Suzue was so thrilled to be there that she took pictures of the place and made selfies. She looked at them and commented how she couldn't wait to show them to Mrs. Kikuko. Now that she mentoned her, she wondered whether they should buy something for her as well and she went through all the possibilities of what they could bring her once they arrive home. Daisuke watched her with a soft smile on his face.
"Suzue is really amazing.. wait what am I thinking?"
Well, it's not true that Suzue wasn't amazing. of course she is. God she's incredible even, for the way she always took care of everything. Being surrounded by cherry trees just added to her unquestionable beauty. Her cheerful spirit and curious nature reminded him of someone close to his heart. Someone he loved dearly, a woman who left him a long time ago and not by her own fault. But looking at Suzue now, he realized that he wasn't unfortunate because he had her and that was everything he could ever ask for.
God was he in love with her? He couldn't tell. It's not that he didn't know, he was more worried about Suzue's reaction. How will she take it? Is it too risky to start off this soon? Is she still nervous being by his side? Why did she act this way? Why is she nervous when there's no reason for her to be nervous in the first place? They lived in the same mansion for so long. Why is he nervous upon thinking about her and her feelings? Oh. He thought he got his answers but he needed to check them first. He just hoped that he won't mess everything up.
While Suzue watched her photos and talked about plans for the dinner, Daisuke carefully tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and kissed her cheek. They looked at each other and what Daisuke wasn't expecting was Suzue taking his cheeks in both of her hands and locking his lips with hers. Daisuke was still somewhat hazy and Suzue smiled a little.
"Cherry flowers are really doing it for you, aren't they?"
"This doesn't minimize the fact that you’re beautiful the way you are."
Daisuke realized what he just said and he blushed. Suzue gave him a peck on the lips and stroked the back of his neck which sent shivers through his back. They looked at each other so lovingly that they didn't notice other people's presence until recently and not to attract too much attention, they decided to visit Pierre Herme's café where they shared ispahan- a delightful mélange of lychee, rose and raspberry. Daisuke insisted on feeding her with the excuse that she always spoiled him and that he needed to make up for it in a way, to which she let him. They had a great time together and they took a cake for grandma as well.
When they arrived home, Daisuke opened her the doors like a gentleman he was. Suzue took a couple of his bags to help him carrying them and grandma Kikuko saw them in the hallway.
"Hello children, how was your date?"
Suzue just blushed in embarrassment "W-what do you mean?"
"Haven't you spent half a day outside? Sounds like a date to me."
Suzue just took her things, excused herself and headed to the room to put Daisuke's suits in the closet.
Grandma smiled and Daisuke averted his eyes in amusement.
"How do you notice such this?"
"I had a hunch. So, how did it go?"
"It was fine. Without any complications or embarrassments for that matter. I.. needed some time to figure things out but in the end everything sat in its rightful place."
Grandma looked relieved and said "Sayuri was always shy about expressing her feelings but when she did, she showed it in the most genuine of ways. And every day you keep resembling her more. I'm glad you turned out the way you did, even if we have our own disagreements."
He smiled a little "Thank you, grandma."
And went upstairs to help Suzue with the stuff they bought. Maybe he couldn't see his mother again, but Suzue brought a positive change in his life. A change he'd always be grateful for and cherish.
To talk about Twice and villainy is to talk about class and criminality (I)
(Masterlist)
In contrast to the fantastical world that surrounds him, Bubaigawara Jin’s backstory, revealed in chapter 229, is completely unexceptional. Jin’s backstory is about class. Throughout this series, a sci fi fantasy where almost all the cast have superpowers, we are introduced to characters who’ve struggled with their Quirks, whether having one or not having one, whether having one that’s powerful or weak, whether they have Quirks that are stigmatized or not. Most of the series handles its sci fi prejudice in this way, by substituting real life characteristics like ethnicity (hero Ryukyu is of Ryukyuan ethnicity and from the colonized Ryukyu islands [source]), gender-based discrimination (including misogyny and transphobia), ability (Aoyama, Dabi, and other characters to a lesser degree have physical difficulties using their Quirks), and stigmatized physical traits (as several mutant characters mention being discriminated against) with Quirk conflicts. Ryukyu’s ethnicity, Rock Lock’s race, Magne’s transness, all the misogyny, and the real life disabilities of many characters who are missing limbs are given minimal or no attention, as these conflicts are replaced with Quirks-as-metaphor.
In this fantastical world, where we’ve supposedly left behind our prejudices about race and ethnicity, gender, disability, and so forth, and replaced them with prejudices about Quirks and Quirk compatibility, Horikoshi made the decision to make Jin’s backstory about class as we understand and live under it today. His backstory stands out as one that is utterly banal. Although Jin’s Quirk comes in later, it’s hardly the driving force of his struggle, because what he’s faced with is simply the unfeeling machinery of capitalism and the state apparatus. There’s no involvement from Quirks or Quirk society here; the world that starts Jin on his downward spiral is one that’s inextricable from our own, one that any of us (some more than others) are vulnerable to. That is to say, he didn’t become a criminal because he had an awesome Quirk that made him egotistical (or whatever people think criminals are motivated by), he became a criminal because his circumstances left him with few other ways to seek fulfillment, and possibly to survive. His Quirk was only a balm to the harm already inflicted on him by the economic realities of futuristic (and simultaneously contemporary) Japan.
A quick recap of Jin’s backstory from chapter 229: His parents, due to a villain attack, died when he was in an unspecified year in middle school (it seems ironic, and another example of BNHA’s cyclical events, that Jin himself eventually dies at the hands of a hero). At 16 years old, Jin was already working. He got into a traffic accident, although he was obeying the speed limit, and broke someone’s arm. His case was prosecuted and likely resulted in a record, but the officer in charge suggested that he may be able to “bounce back”; however, the person injured in the accident turned out to be one of his workplace’s clients, and the clients’ outrage resulted in his termination from his job. Eventually, isolated and lonely, Jin used his Quirk to become a villain, and it’s implied in the depicted panels that he mainly stole. An indeterminate amount of time after becoming a villain, Jin’s clones turned on one another, resulting in a bloodbath that traumatized Jin and resulted in split personalities. After this incident, he turned to Giran for help, who in turn introduced him to the League of Villains.
Systemic barriers
So why couldn’t Jin bounce back, as suggested by the officer? The reasons are many and diverse, not all of them stated in-text. I believe Jin’s specific circumstances merit some evidence from real-world Japan today, since there’s no statement nor implication that these things have changed in these respects, and because this is the frame of reference that Horikoshi and many of his readers are working with. In order to tap into the spirit of the work, it requires an examination of the circumstances and conditions under which the writers are creating, a recognition and acknowledgment of the social issues that may have shaped and influenced their outlooks. Thus, I think it’s important to contextualize Jin’s past not simply as a self-contained example of inequality in BNHA, but as a narrative that ties into the societal concerns of real-world Japan.
Tumblr media
The alternative care system.
This describes the system of institutions and fostering that cares for children who are unable to live with their parents (whether it be due to circumstances like neglect and abuse, or because of the parents’ deaths). In 2014, nearly 90% of children in alternative care lived in residential facilities as opposed to with foster parents (which has its own issues); these rates are much higher than in other industrialized countries, which mostly rely on the foster care system. Residents of the residential facilities report strict rules, child abuse, and bullying. [source] Usually people age out at 18, or even earlier at 15 if they choose not to attend high school. Requests to extend alternative care until an individual reaches 20 are usually denied. [source]
The economic outlook for individuals aging out of alternative care is not optimistic. “Once individuals lose their access to staying in an institution, combined with low wages for menial entry-level jobs, many young people cannot stay on the same job that the institution helps them find when they leave institutional care. If they leave that first job, they struggle to find another[...] Those who start working straight after graduating from junior high school and are forced to leave their institutional care facility may be at a particularly high risk of becoming homeless.” [source]
What does this mean for Jin? Since his parents died when he was in middle school, it could have taken place any time between the ages of 12 to 15. Jin was already working at 16 years old, which according to our information means he dropped out of school and no longer has government-provided accommodations. Depending on when during that middle school time window his parents died, he could have possibly not even entered into the alternative care system at all, entailing that he started to work right after their passing. Either way, Jin most likely quit school and started to work to support himself at 15 years old, forgoing high school and college, taking responsibility for his own shelter, food, bills, clothing, and so on. At an age when the UA kids are just beginning the best times of their lives, making friends, staying in the school’s dormitories, Jin was literally trying to survive on his own.
Tumblr media
Criminality.
This is a bit harder to pin down, and there aren’t many English-language sources regarding criminal justice studies, and very little that thoroughly breaks down the process. For details that we might want to know about, such as arrests and convictions according to race, ethnicity, class, mental illness, etc., those are even more lacking (possibly also in part due to Japan’s low crime rate). I’ll do my best to sum up what I do have, and maybe someone can correct me on this. Anyways, starting from the basics:
The motorcycle accident that Jin was involved in, which injured another party, is a prosecutable crime punishable by up to seven years in prison or a fine of up to one million yen. [source] Just to cover all my bases, yes, at the time of the accident, Jin was indeed a minor under Japanese law (although within an age bracket where he theoretically could be assessed and/or tried as an adult), [source] [source] but we’re not sure if/to what degree that was taken into consideration. Either way, the outcome is that Jin likely ends up with a record, according to the officer (or possibly prosecutor) who’s speaking to him. From what I can make out, getting a record from a traffic accident with injury means he was charged and probably went through summary proceedings in the lowest court, [source] though I’m unsure how this whole process would work if his status as a juvenile was taken into account.
There are a few things to point out here:
Arrest and detention (which I’m assuming is the lead-up to that conversation with the officer) are notoriously lengthy and pretty rough. [source]
Prosecutors have significant discretion in what gets pushed through to see charges and what gets dropped. This is one of the reasons, possibly the main reason, for Japan’s 99% conviction rate—prosecutors usually only press charges in cases that can bring about conviction. They can even take into consideration someone’s age, character, circumstances, etc. when deciding whether to prosecute or not. [source]
During this process, when someone is hurt in an accident, there’s a pretty big deal made of apologizing and offering compensation to the harmed party. These actions are viewed favorably when it comes to case review and sentencing, while arguing over fault and general disagreeableness hurts the case. [source] [source]
(PS: The line “you’re to blame as well” makes sense in the Japanese legal system as a facet of comparative negligence.)
(PPS: Given the ongoing debates over juvenile justice—the likes of which inspired Battle Royale—I wonder if the rather harsh results of Jin’s first encounter with law enforcement are also meant to be read more deeply?) [source; cw for child murder in link]
At this point, we have the question of whether or not Jin’s possible record impacted his inability to “bounce back.” This was also pretty difficult to find information about, and the answer is... maybe. While criminal records are held by the police, and prospective employers cannot access them, this is usually sidestepped by asking applicants to provide information about their own criminal records on a CV template (whether or not people do, or can even legally lie about this, and whether or not they can choose not to answer without impacting their chances of getting hired is not information I was able to find). [source] A certain stigma towards convicted criminals does exist, despite the criminal justice system’s prioritization of reintegration over punishment, [source] though as for further information about whether a record impacts someone’s employability and quality of life doesn’t seem to have been studied. Real world Japan’s declining recidivism rate, though not declining as fast as first-time offenses, seems at least to suggest that even individuals with a record can successfully reintegrate into society, [source] hence the officer’s suggestion that Jin can “bounce back” is not totally bizarre, although it proves short-sighted.
These details illustrate the odds of what Jin is up against. They raise the question of why prosecution didn’t go differently, and they highlight the vulnerability of a parentless child up against the legal system. Jin, again, a 16-year-old (who also doesn’t appear to have legal counsel in the depicted panels), obviously argues his responsibility in the accident; furthermore, he’s unlikely to be able to fulfill the social graces required of a lenient case review. As a teenager who’s already working to support himself, without any family to lend a hand, he likely wouldn’t have been able to muster up the finances for compensation, medical expenses, property damage, etc. at a moment’s notice, and even in installments the payment probably would’ve been a strain. For example, the possible fine of one million yen is half the annual income of Japanese households which fell below the de-facto poverty line in 2008. [source] It seems plausible that his inability to see through the proper courtesies resulted in an unfavorable assessment, and a prosecution carried through to the end. We don’t know for sure how he was sentenced—judging by his return to work, it’s likely he didn’t do jail time—but even assuming a lenient sentence, this accident quickly catches up to him. With no one to fall back on, and no one to cut him some slack, a stumble quickly becomes a fall.
Tumblr media
Employer-employee relations.
The relationship between an employer and employee is one rooted in a power dynamic, where one side controls the time, the wages, and often the health of the other. A job and its benefits are usually the deciding factors of someone’s quality of life, so employees will work overtime, work while ill, and suffer any number of abuses to keep their jobs. Overwork, and the resulting health problems from overwork are enough of a crisis in Japan they’ve been named karoshi—death from overwork. The effects range from general, stress-caused health problems, to heart failure and suicide; what gives rise to these conditions are a complex mix of work culture, company culture, and common hiring practices. Essentially, workers are encouraged to present a loyal face to their company, and because of the structure of the job market, changing jobs isn’t easy. [source] [source] These facets of work culture also contribute to power harassment, an issue that has received growing visibility in the past decade. In 2019, 37.5% of surveyed workers reported suffering power harassment, often from bosses, including receiving excessive demands, degrading treatment, invasions of privacy, and sometimes physical abuse. [source] [source]
This drastically imbalanced relationship only receives a few panels in Jin’s backstory, but that’s all it takes to make the power dynamic clear. Within three panels, Jin’s boss assaults him, berates him, and takes away what he knows is the only source of income for a working-class 16-year-old with no family. An accident that happened is equated to an act of disloyalty because the wrong person was injured, which reflected poorly on the company Jin was working for; however, a double-standard exists. While Jin’s loyalty to the company is expected, there’s no reciprocal expectation for the company to care for the wellbeing of its own workers, instead prioritizing its image and its bottom-line. Employees can be fired at their boss’s whim, leaving the terminated party without an income nor benefits, looking at breaking into a job market that is intolerant of repeat job-seekers—even more so if the individual is someone without a lengthy employment history and without a higher education. This short interaction highlights the precarity of financial stability, where a termination from one job on one man’s authority can leave someone—even a kid—without any way of coming back and achieving a steady living.
So I read your theory about Hagakure being the traitor and even possibly being Tomura's sister (it makes so much sense!) and it reminded of Dazzler and Mortis from the Marvel comics (two siblings, disintegration and light powers, abusive fathers, etc., the similarities are endless).
holy shit. for those not familiar with these particular X-Men characters, or who need a refresher (which I sure did), Dazzler and Mortis are half-sisters, and Dazzler is this sparkly Aoyama-type pop star with light-manipulation powers (hmm) while Mortis, the younger sibling, has a literal death touch. as in she touches you and you just fall down dead. (HMMMMMM.) and it’s also worth noting that the two of these characters are separated during Mortis’s childhood and Mortis isn’t even aware she has a famous mutant sister until later down the line when they’re reunited. also there is the aforementioned abusive dad, who could symbolize either Kotaro or AFO tbh. wow. holy shit.
so the BnHA theory being referenced here is that Hagakure, who in this scenario is the U.A. traitor (yeah I’m still all-in on this and I will sure look dumb if it’s ever proven wrong lmao), is actually Tomura’s long-lost and very-dead older sister Hana! who you’ll all recall we met and fell in love with during the Tenko Flashbacks, only to watch her be viciously torn apart into bloody chunks by her brother’s quirk! which… hold up lemme do a quick self-scan… yeah I’m still not over that, as it turns out.
anyway so this was Hana before
Tumblr media
and this was Hana after
Tumblr media
I do recall thinking to myself at the time that this would probably significantly lower her chances of growing up to become Hagakure. sob. and so that theory was quickly put to rest.
– until very recently, that is.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
come again, Horikoshi? you’re telling us that the Noumu are all made from dead people? like, almost exclusively? and that these corpses can be infused with multiple quirks, or even have brand-new hybrid quirks created by combining quirks together? and that they can be programmed with whatever personality you want to give them, while retaining enough of their original personalities so as to appear convincingly human?? and programmed to believe whatever you want them to believe, and to work toward whatever purpose you want to give them? and you can even program failsafes into them to control them even further beyond that, and they might not even realize it’s happening to them?
well all of that sure is mighty convenient when you consider we have a traitor in class 1-A who apparently reports to the League of Villains but whose motives are still unknown, and whose physical appearance is also unknown for that matter! still, it’s a long shot. they did say “corpses”, not “various assorted bloody chunks.” and it’s not like Ujiko apparently traveled directly to the scene of the crime almost immediately afterward to just gather up all of the –
Tumblr media
– well shit.
look. I’m not fooling myself, this is for sure a crackpot add-on to the much-more-solid base Hagakure traitor theory. but I’m not gonna lie, I straight up love this idea though. for one thing because Shimura Hana deserved better, and for another because it does make sense to me that AFO, being the big fat jerkface he is, would want to keep a backup Shimura heir to torment All Might with just in case something went wrong with his first choice. it doesn’t take much to convince me that this man would look for even more ways to fuck with the Shimura family. because he is not a nice man. and fucking around with corpses to reprogram them to do his bidding was apparently his MO!! so yeah!
and Tomura might not even know. can you imagine?? his sister has still been alive (or well, ~alive~) all these years and he didn’t even know about it. what else is All for One not telling you, Tomura. I wonder.
anyway anon so thank you for bringing this up again and for also pointing out the parallels to the two X-Men characters, because while that could well be a coincidence, it is a very cool one. and tbh the more I read up on these two the more I’m wondering if it really is a coincidence ahhh. I need to stop doing this to myself lol. but it’s so fun though. ah. theories.
bnha + tdmm gundam AU
This is an AU I wrote on the todomomo discord server eons ago. Anything posted to this blog will be transcripts of old original work and not really edited, save for formatting. I have no guarantees if I will ever finish these AUs either so these will only be kept as an archive.
Heavily inspired by Gundam SEED/Destiny
Original transcript posted to tdmm discord: Aug 2018
BNHA MECHA/MILITARY/GUNDAM AU??? FT. TDMM + OTHERS.
JUST HEAR ME OUT OK:
idk when this is set but some sci-fi au where earth is at war w some enemy people and the military uses mechs
U.A. aka United Alliance is the military organization in charge of Earth's mechs
decades ago for idk.. WW III or something, pilots enlisted in U.A. piloting giant mechs (aka H.E.R.O.S. - “high efficiency robotic operating systems”) became protectors of citizens?? some shit like that.
the top pilots made a name for themselves were namely Toshinori Yagi piloting the TPHR-ALL MIGHT at #1 and #2 Todoroki Enji piloting the FLHR-ENDEAVOR
(Bonus: TPHR for "The People's HERO" and FLHR for, you guessed it, "Flame HERO" woooo)
but during the final mecha fight that subsequently ended WW III, Toshinori Yagi was declared MIA bc his mech crash landed on some coastal shore and by the time they found ALL MIGHT, the cockpit was empty and the pilot was gone
anyway fast forward >> U.A. has a cadet school and low and behold who do we find enrolled,,, aspiring young pilots Midoriya Izuku and Bakugou Katsuki
they both heard the heroic stories of pilot Toshinori and ALL MIGHT and woooo got into U.A.
also in U.A. ofc is Todoroki Shouto whos been groomed to be a mecha pilot since age 5 courtesy of Enji. D u h. (Enji's still piloting ENDEAVOR at this time but has it pretty set that Shouto will inherit piloting his mech)
aaand ofc we get the rest of class 1A in U.A. cadet school for various reasons
ANYWAY im not going into cadet school days bc thats boring but lets say ofc top of the class pilots are Izuku Bakugou and Todoroki that aces all the flight simulations blah blah blah
Also Toshinori was found to be declared MIA to the public but actually whoop. He's at U.A. as one of the boardmembers bc ofc that’s how im making the story work. Idk he was too injured and has too much ptsd that he cant pilot anymore and is looking for the next pilot to inherit ALL MIGHT (which is fixed up by now)
NOW INTO THE ACTUAL MEAT OF THE STORY - NEW WAR (WW4? I GUESS)
CADET KIDS ARE NO LONGER CADETS. THEYRE FULL FLEDGED PILOTS NOW AND ARE THROWN INTO THE NEXT WAR BC THAT WAS PART OF WHAT THEY SIGNED UP FOR. Whos the enemy? LoV ofc but i dont have a cool name for them yet LMAOOOO
K SO new war. New battle cruisers. New mechs yayayya
U.A. has 2 new battle cruisers: Sirius A and Sirius B, designated (1-A and 1-B DUH)and duh, the crew of 1-A and 1-B is gonna be classes respectively
1-A, Aizawa is captain of the ship LMAOOOO Momo's the crew's battle analyst on comms + nav, Iida takes the helm, idk whos gonna be on weaponry yet but I kinda wanna make it Tokoyami
Izuku Bakugou and Todoroki are mecha pilots ofc
they have custom made mechs that were made for them for mostly training so the models are pretty basic compared to ALL MIGHT and ENDEAVOR but eh they do the job.
I'm doing the hero name thing again so Izuku pilots OAHR-DEKU, Todo pilots HCHR-SHOUTO and Bakugou pilots.... EXHR-K.E.KILL
bc they’re custom they got to name the mechs so friggin Bakugou. I tried LMAO (if someone can guess the acronyms, bonus points)
also hey! they have a squadron of fighter jet pilots and hey! Its the Bakusquad!!!
each of the fighters have their own names too so you guessed it, their hero namessss ha..ha..ha..ha..
OKAY more people: Hatsume Mei's their engineer. She basically built the mechs and works under Powerloader that built the cruiser ships
Gran Torino built the fighter jets lol
uhh Tsuyu's probably the crew's nurse in the infirmary or smth. Chiyo is the head military doctor back at the U.A. base??? idk
Nedzu head of U.A. Self explanatory.
Fuyumi and Natsuo are there too!!! Fuyumi's part of the cadet teaching staff. Natsuo's a fighter pilot of another fleet
Anyway, TODOMOMO IN THIS AU
they met in cadet training. Momo was working towards being an analyst anyway so naturally they paired up for training exercises as comm + pilot top of the class. Aizawa's first choices when choosing who to enlist in for the 1-A crew
every time Shouto deploys for a fight Momo's hypervigilant in keeping tabs on him in the air bc honestly the worst is seeing a laserbeam aiming for his mech's cockpit
I mean she keeps tabs on Deku and Bakugou too but. y’know she has a bias loool
and god forbid if anything were to happen to Shouto bc the worse would be for him to be MIA or KIA bc this is a war. People lose their lives. She knows its what they signed up for but if she can help him avoid it, she will
but sometimes it cant be helped. Especially since she’s navigating for the other pilots and the ship
it doesn’t help that Shouto's kinda reckless in his mech fights when they get too intense. sometimes he'll ignore his comms all together and when he does that half the time he comes out of his cockpit injured bc nuclear explosions. Recoil. Life threatening occupational hazard. D u h
Momo's basically crying by his bedside in the infirmary every time that happens
and THE ONE INSTANCE WHERE HE IS OFFICIALLY DECLARED MIA, Momo loses it
bc its his fight against the enemy mech CRHR-DABI. Its in the midst of the enemy's unexpected assault. and the 1A and 1B are taking heavy fire. So she has to focus on Aizawa's orders. and Shouto is getting out range that she cant keep tabs on him. and he's ignoring her comms. so by the end of it, by the time the enemy ships and mechs retreat, HCHR-SHOUTO is g o n e
the dust clears up. Its raining. The fighting's stopped. All of the enemy forces has retreated so U.A. calls their pilots to retreat
2 of their 3 mechs have returned to the ship except for SHOUTO. And Momo's frantically trying to get through to him. But nothing.
Aizawa orders her to stop trying. they'll send out a search team to investigate his last known location after everyone rests. Repairs to 1A and the mechs need to be made. They have to make haste, but for now, rest.
all the logistical post-battle crap is cared for first. Status reports, repair agenda, the next battle plan. The search team is sent out.
nothing.
they keep looking.
nothing for days.
keep looking.
they find it. HCHR-SHOUTO in a lake torn to shambles. The cockpit cut open. Blood stains trail out toward the forest it crashed in but no pilot nearby. (Bc hell ya im gonna recycle tropes loool)
Todoroki Shouto declared missing in action.
Momo gets the update and she’s devastated
but theres no time to mourn. A second enemy attack.
the Orion fleet is called in. ENDEAVOR's fleet.
and there he is. that mech. CRHR-DABI. again.
DABI VS ENDEAVOR wooooooooooooo
but this time its nearby the city. Civilians need to be evacuated. WGHR-HAWKS assists in protecting the city as much as possible.
but yup ENDEAVOR gets destroyed too. Enji comes out of his cockpit in critical condition. and the enemy retreats again.
more aftermath. More repairing, more strategies, more recovering the injured. Its a war after all.
U.A. works on building a new mech. ENDEAVOR #2. But Enji has to officially retire from piloting due to his head injury.
and his successor is missing.
there is no pilot.
that is until Shouto shows up again!!!!
he has new scar on the left side of his face.
he saw ENDEAVOR's fight.
he’s alive. He’s come back. And he's out to take down DABI.and you bet he made his dramatic reappearance like:
Aizawa, at a battle meeting with Momo, Nedzu, Toshinori and other UA officials: "Tell me Nedzu. what choices do we have? Enji is compromised. His successor is missing. We're out of pilots. Who’s going to pilot the second ENDEAVOR?"
Todo, walking casually through the door: "I will."
After thoughts:
hi yes pls imagine all the pilots in skin tight pilot suits and helmets bc HAHAHHAA NGL THAT WAS THE 5% MOTIVATION OF ME COMING UP WITH THIS AU 👀
also momo in a military uniform 👀
the mechs look like their hero uniforms. OAHR-DEKU is green & white in colour. EXHR-K.E.KILL is black & orange. HCHR-SHOUTO is red blue silver.
TPHR-ALL MIGHT is gold & royal blue. FLHR-ENDEAVOR is blue red and orange.
CRHR-DABI is grey and purple and is piloted by Touya who else would it be
the fleet that i said Natsuo was a part of is the Orion fleet.. Enji's fleet
now that I think about it, Aoyama is probably the designer behind the pilot suits
Shouto names the 2nd ENDEAVOR mech HCHR-REI after his mom
his mom is a civilian and is very much alive kthx Im not pulling some EVA shit here ok
> bonus tdmm mecha NSFW
ok so u kno the trope where izu has a quirk that lets him reverse time if he dies? so being the self sacrificial boi he is he acts with reckless disregard for his own wellbeing and will run into threats he knows will kill him if he decides he needs to redo something. obviously everyone forgets what happened after he goes back but can u imagine aizawa's POV of that? his train of thought as he tries to hold it together for the kid who is fucking dying in his arms? (1/2)
  and the whole time izu is comforting *him*, saying "don't worry, it'll be okay, I'll get it right next time". basically what im saying is make aizawa watch his worst nightmare play out in front of him you cowards. give me that Emotional Whump (2/2)
I’m sick so i need inflict my pain on others, so enjoy a whole ass oneshot. warning for shooters in a school, blood and general violence. and er, technically major character death. hes fine though!
There were villains in UA.
To call them villains felt almost flippant, faintly whimsical with connotations of dastardly characters. No, Shouta thought to himself as he desperately scanned the yard for his students, these were monsters. They swarmed along the grass like ants, dressed from head to toe in black protective gear guns all trained to mow down the slightest movement.
Most of the UA students were already inside the main building, behind it’s blast-proof doors. The remaining students were huddled with pros inside the dorms, praying they wouldn’t be found. All of the UA students were accounted for.
All except 1A.
They’d been training on the P.E. grounds. Shouta had left them to spar – just for a moment, one fucking moment – entering the main building to ask a passing Vlad about an upcoming cross-class training event. Then the blast doors slammed shut. Alarms sounded around them but Aizawa barely heard them through the sudden flash of panic. His students were outside. Whatever had triggered that alarm, they were stuck outside with. Without him.
Futilely, he slammed his fists against the cold metal. If he listened faintly, he could hear the panicked sounds of his students doing the same. His chest ached. Swallowing the irrational need to stay by his students, he raced through the halls to reach Nezu’s office. The mammal looked uncharacteristically alarmed, and that, more than anything, made Shouta’s heart beat faster.
Nezu took one look at him before he realised what was wrong. Brows pinched, he quickly rattled off the only secure exit during a lockdown. Shouta turned to run off.
“Aizawa!” The worried tone of voice coming from the principal, off all people, stopped him dead in his tracks. “Be careful.” With a single nod, he was out the door. He had only the barest of intentions of complying with that request; if he got his students to safety, he didn’t care what happened to him. They’d been through too much, too young.
It didn’t take long for him to find and exit through the small door on the side of the building, but it felt like an eternity. It took only a second for him to hear the explosions and the shouting. A large portion of his class was hunkered down behind a wall of ice, Bakugo, Kaminari and Aoyama taking out anyone who tried to flank them. They were holding it together, but there was panic in their eyes.
Looping his capture weapon around one of the jutting spires of ice, he pulled himself forward, rolling the last few meters behind the wall. The sheer relief on his student’s faces as they saw who it was made his eyes sting.
“Iida, report.”
“We were grouping together for defence, trying to provide cover so Uraraka and Yaorurozu could transport people to the room.” Iida paused, looking anxious. “But we were surrounded too fast. The only students on the roof are Uraraka, Yaoruozu, Koda, Sauto and Asui.” Shouta nodded, taking all the information in.
“Todoroki!” The boy glanced over from where he was reinforcing their wall. They were slowly losing ground. They didn’t have much time. “I have a way in, but I need you to give us cover to get there. Can you do that?” The boy didn’t hesitate.
“Yes, Sensei.”
Shouta gathered his kids along the edge of their cover, pointing out the exit to Todoroki. The boy sent a massive wall of ice sweeping before him, catching a few of the intruders in its edges. He pushed the crowd of students in front of him as they all took off, running faster than any of them had before. The intruders shot bullet after bullet into the wall of ice but didn’t manage to crack it until most of his students were already inside. He shoved in the stragglers, locking the door behind him. Bakugo tugged harshly on his shirt.
“Have you seen Deku?” Shouta’s heart dropped. “The bastard went to go find help, said he had the best shot. He wasn’t wrong, but…” Bakugo trailed off. The other students looked at him nervously. He swore.
“Find a classroom and stay with their teacher.” He growled, already setting off to find his wayward student.
“But, Sensei –“ Kaminari interrupted, trying to follow him. He wasn’t the only one.
“Go!” He shouted. The students were reluctant to leave him. Shouta tried to ignore the tears building in his eyes as panicked thoughts of losing his whole class crashed around him. “Please.”
Iida and Bakugo nodded, herding the rest of the class further into the building. Shouta violently scrubbed at his eyes before turning back to the door he’d only just left. He pressed an ear against the metal. No gunfire from close by. He had to hope they’d moved on. He was getting his student back whether it was safe or not, but he didn’t want to drag the boy back through a hail of gunfire. He could hear shots in the distance, but nothing close enough to pose any real danger to himself.
He unlatched the door and took off.
Shouta had no real evidence to where his student would be, but something told him to check the dorms. He knew there were still trapped students inside them, and it would be so like his student to have run off to help them.
It didn’t take long to find the pile on incapacitated intruders on the steps of the 1-C dorms. Stepping over them none too gently, he crept inside. There was a chance there were more of them left. Straining his ears, he heard two young voices, both unsteady and wavering. Abandoning all pretences of stealth, he sprinted towards them.
Slamming open the door, what he saw made his heart stop. Midoriya had seemingly risen to his feet to meet the possible threat, blood flowing steadily from an unseen wound. A student Shouta didn’t recognise had his hands clenched in shaky, bloodstained fists, clothing soaked in red from where he had presumably tried to stop Midoriya’s bleeding.
“Oh, Sensei –“ Midoriya slumped into him like a puppet with cut strings. Shouta caught the boy instinctively, gently laying him on the ground. He let out a tired giggle. “Sorry for getting your costume all messy again.” Again? Ignoring that for later, he held his student close, trying to put pressure on his wounds. The poor boy’s torso was littered with gunshot wounds, all bleeding sluggishly as his heart slowed.
Shouta felt tears building in his eyes. “Just hang on kid, I’ll get you to Recovery Girl, ok? It’s going to be fine.” The unknown student in the corner was shaking. Midoriya gently placed his hand on his.
“Its ok Sensei.” He said with a smile, blood stark against his white teeth. “I’m ok. Doesn’t even hurt that much.” Shouta choked back a sob, holding his student closed to his chest as if he could keep him safe. He’d already failed at that. His student coughed and he felt warm blood on his shoulder.
“It’ll be ok kid, just hold on. You’ll be fine.” Midoriya left out another tired laugh, shaking his head sluggishly.
“Not this time, Sensei.” Shouta felt fat tears rolling down his face. He burned. “I’ll get it right next time. Promise.” His kid’s chest slowed.
“Midoriya?” His voice cracked painfully. There was no response. He lay his student down, beginning chest compressions right away. He tried not to falter as all it did was send more blood pouring from his injuries. No chest compressions would heal the bullet holes riddles through his ribcage. Shouta slumped.
“Midoriya? Please?”
Present Mic Headcannons PT. 2
• Fluent in JSL, Japanese, and English. Knows enough French to get by and is learning Greek and Italian.
•Loves to travel! Learning about new cultures and people has always been an interest of his.
• Hizashi is a workaholic ((duh!))
• Has a horrible sleep schedule. Worse than his husbands since Aizawa actually takes naps! Zashi has gone 50 hours awake with just coffee, sugar, and pure determination. Midnight had to knock him out with her quirk and Aizawa had to strap him to the bed
• Headcannon suggested by @shouta-light -- mic likes to be on the same level as his students and keep up with what is "cool". He doesnt like being seen as old or having a big disconnect with his students
• still nervous of parents and rarely attends parent teacher conferences. He sends out detailed and colored reports to the parents instead
• if given a choice, hizashi would rather be cold than hot. When cold it's easier to bundle up!
• Loves to run and do yoga in the morning. He considers it "me time" and gives him time to think and clear his mind ((though sometimes it becomes us time when Shouta comes in to watch his husband work on his flexibility and poses))
• shouta and Hizashi have been living together since UA
• hizashi loves American music and often sings in perfect english! His favorite songs are (Hey look mom I made it by Panic At The Disco)(Walk me Home by P!NK)(Hero by Skillet)(Stars by Skillet)(wasting all these tears by Cassidee Pope)
• He is a mother hen. Helping others and brightening their day is what makes hizashi happy. Sometimes he Pampers and oversteps but his heart in always in the right place
•He carries medical supplies on him at all times. Sometimes just a few bandaides and stitching supplies and other times the full first aide kit. After fixing up shouta so often, he has picked up this habit
He got so good at patching himself and other up due to 2 reasons. 1-> his crappy home life with his bioparents forced him to become better at self care and wound treatment. 2->shouta gets into a lot of scraps as an underground hero and has always hated hospitals. So ever since they met I. UA, hisashi has been patching the other up and watching over his health
• he wants to offer Kyoka Jiro a place at his hero agency and Radio show after her graduation because of her love for music and her style. Yuga Aoyama is also being considered by Hizashi as a potential hero in his agency due to his positivity and abilities.
• Mic is lean muscle and toned! He has a rocking body but doesnt show others unless he truly trusts them (like shouta). He has scars and marks on his body from childhood abuse that makes him self conscious. The battle scars dont worry him as much since it is a part of the job
• Shouta has a cat and Mic has a salt water aquarium with many fish and two seahorses which are his "babies"
• Hizashi is a clinger. If you are a loved one, a friend, or someone he trusts then you will be cuddled, hugged, jumped on, and constantly touched throughout the day
• Loves birds (had a pet cockatiel as a child when his mothers first adopted him) but pigeons are weird and he is slightly terrified of them
• His favorite color changes with his mood ((but his favorite color combo is black and yellow -- wink wink --))
•Loves to swim. If there is a body of water nearby, sunglasses come out and his inflatable tube is ready.
• Hizashi doesnt mind being badmouthed or insulted or belittled (maybe a bit), but do any of the following to his family or loved ones and you're in for a world of hurt from the voice hero
• Hizashi seriously considered the hero name "The Yell Man" until shouta managed to talk sense into him
Thank you Loyal Listeners~
Let me know if you would like a part 3! I have so many more cute and quirky headcannons.
I'll be basing my future fanfictions off them.
Also! I have many Erasermic AU ideas. Would anyone be interested if I posted them? Along with their headcanons?
THANK YOU AGAIN CUTE PEOPLE!
They had beaten Taeyong when he had asked.  He had gotten on his knees before the leader of the Specters and implored him humbly to let him join.  He would be a model warrior, he had assured: would fight unquestioningly anyone who challenged the gang and never run away.  He could prove himself.  The Spectors’ leader had pointed to the full red circle on his white headband.  Don’t you know we don’t accept gaijin ?   I’m not a gaijin , Taeyong had argued, only to be met with a venomous cackle.  Taeyong was sure he had felt a thin rain of spit land on him from the force of the laugh.  What are you then, Zainichi?  That’s worse!  Then they beat him. That was seven years ago, but it still carried trauma for Taeyong.
Gassan-ya was not Taeyong’s favorite bar, but it was doing him good to laze there at the counter drinking alone, eating peanuts, and listening to a mixture of citypop hits from the jukebox behind him and a report on Mitsubishi’s rising stock values on the television hanging from the ceiling.  That’s what he had been doing, until the Specters came zooming on their souped-up bikes past the front windows, hooting and hollering in their white uniforms, and banging baseball bats and rusty pipes against the pavement as they went.  Taeyong cursed to himself upon seeing the group of boys speeding off to a battle, shoving a handful of peanuts in his mouth and swigging the rest of his beer before ordering another.
He could never figure out why he was always so enamored with the Bosozoku boys he saw; why he had felt a need to become one.  Was it his desire for a sense of identity and belonging?  A need to act out against his parents’ authority?  The terrifying thrill he got from imagining himself in battle, taking a bat to some poor young man’s head?  Was it self-hatred?  He figured the correct answer was probably all of the above.  Walking around for almost a quarter century in Japan with the name Lee Taeyong had naturally brought him nothing but rejection – professional, academic, romantic, you name it.  And those who had accepted him were often no better off in life than he was.  Two of his best friends were locked away for petty theft, after all.
So, Taeyong had tried to join a violent biker gang at the age of seventeen, learning to ride his dad’s old motorbike, style a pompadour, and roll his R’s in preparation to make his case.  He did it because if he was going to be an outcast he at least wanted to be an outcast that someone could give a damn about.  He liked the thought of letting off some steam in a grand way, of being a source of fear for prosperous average Japanese people, of claiming his own place in the warrior tradition.  And it would have pleased him to have one of those bikes too.
But it had gone horribly wrong when he did make his case, and now he was too old for the Bosozoku anyway.  He spent his days working at an autobody shop and his nights drinking and trying not to get too close to anyone.  You see, Taeyong was a sensitive boy, but he lived in a world where it didn’t pay to be sensitive.
The bartender slid Taeyong his Sapporo over the counter as the rumble of twenty Bosozoku bikes was finally fading into the night, and he downed the drink as quickly as he possibly could.  It was a nice night and he needed to get out into the fresh air.
Taeyong left the bar on the outskirts of Tokyo and rounded the corner to a sidewalk perpendicular to a small alleyway.  Taeyong noticed curiously the sound of what he could only assume was an interpersonal struggle coming from the alley behind Gassan-ya: feet scraping against asphalt, heavy breaths, and urgent growled arguing.  Against his better judgement, perhaps because he had exceeded his usual drink limit, Taeyong decided to investigate, clutching the switchblade he kept in his pocket and tiptoeing cautiously as if attempting to approach a spooked deer.  When he got close enough to see, he found two men in trench coats hovering over the man Taeyong recognized as managing the bar in some capacity.  In the dusky light it was hard to make out anything clearly, but Taeyong was pretty sure at least one of the men held a revolver.  Taeyong tightened his grip on the knife and peeked out from behind a stack of liquor crates since he didn’t know what else to do and his curiosity was getting the best of him.  As if that would save him.
“I’m sorry, we’re just a little short!” The man on the ground was attempting to explain – his voice hoarse.
“Well we’re sorry, but we need 30,000 for this week.”
“Please!” protested the apparent victim. “We’ll get it to you soon. Just – just give us a couple days.  I’ll do anything you need and we won’t be late again!”
Taeyong assumed the assailants would respond with something, but instead, the man on the ground seemed to spot him spying, their eyes locking, and Taeyong’s heart plunged into his stomach as the men in trench coats turned around and aimed at him.
“Come out, whoever you are,” said the closer one, “hands above your head!”  Were they cops?
Hesitantly, Taeyong crept out from his hiding spot and raised his arms as his lips attempted to form something coherent to say.
“What are you doing here?” Asked the other one.
What was he doing there?
“I – I heard something.  I thought it might be a mugging…I’m sorry, I’ll just go.”
“Don’t move,” said the first one.  He turned to his partner.  “Take him to the van.  Kid’s a liability.”
“Yes sir!”  The farther one approached Taeyong and all of a sudden, his mind was spinning not just from the alcohol but also from the battle raging in his mind between the urge to run and the knowledge that he could very well lose his life.  If he were a wild animal, he would be playing dead.
Evidently, Taeyong didn’t think quickly enough, because his kidnapper had already reached him and taken off his hat to cover Taeyong’s face with.  He was led to a van, then formally blindfolded and handcuffed and left to wait for the two men to finish doing whatever they planned to do to that poor bar-owner.
The next several hours were the most terrifying and disconcerting thing that Taeyong had ever experienced.  First, they took him into the city to somewhere in Aoyama, he was pretty sure, and proceeded to have a conversation about him as if he weren’t right there with a man named Gwang-suk (Taeyong noted the Korean name with a mixture of comfort and dread).  Should they kill him?  Please, no .  Should they let him go? That would be greatly appreciated .  Should they recruit him?  To do what exactly??? Taeyong had deduced at this point that he was being held by one or another yakuza syndicate, but beyond that he could not have been more lost.  Then, Gwang-suk suggested they take Taeyong to someone named Nakamoto and that was that: back in the car.
A twenty-minute drive and he was marched into another building and shoved into a chair at an oak desk and finally allowed to see his surroundings.  Taeyong heard a man and a woman talking muffled through a wooden door behind the desk which, when it slid open, revealed a handsome man with white hair and piercings wearing a snakeskin suit.  In fact, Taeyong was briefly distracted by just how handsome the man was.
“ Shategashira !” Taeyong’s kidnappers bellowed, saluting the younger man who was now seated at the desk facing Taeyong.
“At ease,” he said coolly in a rounded Osaka accent.
The man on Taeyong’s left spoke.  “We’re sorry to interrupt you and Ms. Hirai, sir!”
“That’s no problem,” said the man Taeyong could only assume was “Nakamoto.”  “Work is always my priority as you know.”
“Of course, sir!”
The two men recounted their version of events with great enthusiasm and Nakamoto listened.  When they were done, he looked at Taeyong straight-on and asked, “is this all accurate?”
The directness startled Taeyong.  “Um – yes, factually that’s more or less it.  But I was never trying to get into any trouble!  I promise I would never talk!”
“Yes,” said Nakamoto, seeming to search Taeyong’s face.  “I’m sure you wouldn’t.  But you see, the Inagawa-kai simply can’t afford any loose ends, as I hope you understand.”  So that’s whose custody he was in, Taeyong realized, only the third largest and second most powerful criminal organization in Japan – maybe in Asia.  No sweat.
“If you don’t mind me asking, what is your name?” Nakamoto asked.
“Taeyong.  Lee Taeyong.”
Nakamoto nodded knowingly.  “Mm, I figured that’s why you ended up here.  I deal with all the zainichi .”
Nakamoto was the first Japanese person Taeyong had heard say that word without even a hint of distaste and this fact only confused his fear even further.  Taeyong had never felt more helpless.  Here he was, with no idea how anything around him worked nor what it meant, his life so fully in the hands of this beautiful man across from him that it made his head pound.
“So, Taeyong.  Let’s figure this out.  Where are you from?  What do you do?  Tell me a bit about yourself.”
What is this, a job interview?
“I…well…um, I grew up in Shin-Ōkubo and I uh, still live there.  I work in an auto shop fixing cars.  I’m 24?  What else do you need to know?”
“We’re the same age,” remarked Nakamoto with a slight smile, and Taeyong wasn’t sure if this was supposed to be a means of connection between the two men or a subtle jab at Taeyong’s relative lack of status.  Either way, the nervous shaking in Taeyong’s body was beginning to fade as he became more and more confident he was not in imminent danger of death.  However, he couldn’t completely rule out the possibility he was being toyed with.
Nakamoto spoke again.  “How about your family?”
“We’re not very close,” said Taeyong.  “We only speak very occasionally.”
“Well,” Nakamoto responded, “we’re similar in that regard as well.  Do you have a criminal record?”
Taeyong was a bit taken aback by the question, but he was speaking with a gangster, so it wasn’t too out of the blue.  “I’ve stolen some shit, but I don’t usually get caught.  Spent a couple nights in jail for property damage a while ago.  Things like that, I guess?  I was sort of in a gang with my close friends in high school, but we didn’t do much other than loiter.  When I tried to join more established gangs I was rejected.”
“I see,” said Nakamoto, “well you could still always join a gang, if you haven’t already outgrown that impulse.”
Was this the recruitment his kidnappers had mentioned?  How on earth to respond?  “Oh?”
Nakamoto laughed, a sharp sound.  He was apparently done dealing with his victim and turned to the larger of the men who had abducted Taeyong.  “Find someone to go back home with him and monitor him tonight.  I think we’ll make him a foot soldier.  It’s better than the alternatives.  Understood?”
“Yes, Shategashira !”
Yuta turned back to Taeyong, who had gone tense against his chair.  What’s a foot soldier?  For Inagawa-kai? Would he have a gun?  Could he even fire a gun?? What were those alternatives that would be unspeakably worse??? And what was he supposed to say to his boss????
Nakamoto addressed Taeyong one more time.  “I hope you understand that this is for your own good and that you won’t resent me. I'm confident that we can come to an understanding.  I’ll be seeing you soon.”  And with that, Nakamoto was back out the door and Taeyong was once more being hauled to his feet.
After walking home for the day I go to my room and immediately sit down at my desk. I type "Sludge Villain Incident" into the search engine, I get thousands of hits. After clicking on a few articles and videos, I find an amateur video taken from what seems to be a handheld device. The video quality isn't that good and it's also really shaky but it's the only video that taped the beginning of the sighting. The sludge monster appears to have a hostage, the camera zooms in to get a grainy image of 'Bakugo?' I would be able to recognize the utter hatred practically oozing off of him in waves.
None of the heroes are helping him, I am not able to make out exactly what's being said. I squint at the video on my laptop, closely examining the events that are transpiring, and then widen my eyes, 'The sludge from the villain is covering his nose and filling his mouth! He's probably not even breathing!' Then, for a split second, the camera steadies and focuses on Bakugo's face. A pleading look, devoid of the ever-present scowl on his face. I quickly pause the video before I lose the image. I sit there cross-legged on my desk chair staring at the frozen image before me. 'How is Bakugo of all people even able to make that face? He truly looks like he's asking for help, not that he was helpless. But in a way acknowledging the fact he couldn't get out of that situation on his own. How can you make such a face?' I think this to myself as I stare at the image. The emotion in his eyes striking a chord deep within me. I open a new tab and search for articles on the incident, and I find the aftermath of the situation. At this point, I'm not really looking for anything specific, but I come across the date of the incident. 'This happened this past summer?' I think to myself.
 I can't help but admire the fact that Bakugo is not only strong physically shown by the group exercise, but he is also mentally strong. After enduring such a traumatic experience, he's been able to remain mentally sound. I shake the torrent of my own experiences from my mind, and turn back to the computer. I start to do my homework before I get distracted by my past.
Max is at work late, so I heat up the leftovers from dinner the night before. I set the table for one and carry my reheated meal to my spot. I eat in comfortable silence, not thinking about anything in particular, my mind wanders to the reports that I read earlier that afternoon. 'Bakugo was stuck like that for a while.' My mind flashes the image of his pleading eyes back at me. 'He was devoid of oxygen until Midoriya tried to help him. It was clearly Midoriya because the camera was able to capture a somewhat clear picture of him as he ran to Bakugo's side. Why does Bakugo hate Midoriya if he saved his life?' I dismissed the thought for the moment and put it aside to address another day.
I've gotten settled into bed and finished my homework. I turn off the lamp on my bedside table and allow myself to fall into the dark abyss of sleep.
*Beep*
*Beep*
I wake up to the sound of my alarm clock informing me that it is time to go to school. I reach over, face still stuffed in my pillow to turn it off. I miss the first two times, but I finally hit the right button on my third attempt. I sit up and rub the sleep from my eyes, and simply sit there for a few moments letting myself wake up. I look over at the time sleepily, and see 7:50 am. My eyes snap open, 'Oh no, I hit snooze too many times! I'm gonna be late!' After flinging away my covers and jumping out of bed I rush over to uniform, I have set out and hurriedly start putting it on. I hop over to the bathroom to brush my teeth while getting my second sock on. I grab a slice of toast on the way out the door, then I immediately turn back around to grab my phone and backpack.
I am sprinting through the halls to get to class with the least amount of annoyance on Mr. Aizawa's face when I get there. I skid to a halt right before I enter the room and try to catch my breath. I speed walk my way through the door and make brief eye contact with Mr. Aizawa before falling into a deep bow as I make my way to my seat. I walk in front of the class, then round the corner of the front row of desks. As I approach my seat, I hear a faint tutting noise. I swing my head towards Bakugo and catch him rolling his eyes and looking away from me. I bump into my desk and a short brief screech emits from it, my cheeks slightly heat up from the attention being drawn to myself.
"Schaffer, if you're going to show up to class late, be quiet while doing so," A violent blush spreads across my face as I sit down, "I guess tardiness is a trend today because All Might is late, but he will be meeting with us later on during class. Today we will be doing a rescue training. It's going to teach you how to deal with disaster relief from fires to floods. You can choose to wear your gym uniforms or not, just know that some of your costumes are not well equipped for this training exercise. We're also going to be transported to a separate training location via bus. Anyways, that's it so get changed and let's go."
When the class gets outside, we all are instructed by Ida on the proper way to board the bus. ‘Does he think we’ve never ridden on a bus before?’ I think to myself as I board the bus, I end up in the back and sit next to Yaoyorozu, it's a bit cramped in the back row, but not too bad. I keep to myself, but a conversation between Tsuyu Asui and Midoriya peaks my interest.
"Your quirk is similar to All Might's in many ways, Midoriya." Tsuyu states.
A look of complete panic comes over Midoriya, a bit more than his usual worried or panicked look, a quick thought passes through my head, 'I wonder what that's all about?' Stammering, Midoriya responds, "R-r-really? I n-never notic-ed!"
I quirk my eyebrow in confusion, and then Kirishima pipes up, "That doesn't make any sense, his quirk is different in a big way. He gets hurt whenever he uses his quirk, and All Might doesn't. His quirk is pretty cool, way cooler than my hardening quirk. It's pretty boring, I will admit though that it's handy in a fight."
I frown slightly at his comment about having a boring quirk and then turn my head when I hear Midoriya say, "It's not boring, I think it's really cool and extremely useful."
"Don't forget that in order to go pro, you also need popular appeal." Kirishima adds
"My navel laser is the perfect well-rounded quirk because it's cool and also strong." says the flashy, self-centered blonde, Aoyama.
Ashido cuts in and says, "Your quirk is great and all up until you overuse it and give yourself a stomach ache."
Aoyama's face turns bright red after this comment. Tsuyu says, "Todoroki and Bakugo have really strong quirks, but Bakugo is a giant asshole. He'll probably never be popular enough to be the number one hero."
I try in vain to stifle a laugh, thinking to myself, 'This is what the class thinks of him? That explains why I was the only one who voted for him.'
Bakugo then yells, "Who the fuck do you think you're talking about Frog-face?!"
He then jerks his head in my direction and shouts, "What're you laughing at?!"
I start to turn my head with the intent of responding, but then decide against it and resume looking at the scenery we pass by. I think to myself, 'I’m pleased to know I’m not the only one who thinks that you have a flaming turd for a personality.'
We get to our destination and file out of the bus. The class walks into the large building and there are so many different things to look at. A person in what appears to be a spacesuit approaches the class and says, "There's a zone for any and every disaster and accident possible. There's a flood zone, landslide zone, and conflagration zone to name a few. I built this facility and I call it the, Unforeseen Simulation Joint!"
'Who is this?' I ask myself, and overhear Midoriya say, "It's the space hero, Thirteen! He's a gentleman hero who does his best work in rescue scenarios!"
Thirteen and Mr. Aizawa speak briefly and then Thirteen resumes talking,
"Many of you know I have a quirk called, Black Hole, it can suck and tear apart literally anything. This is a cool but dangerous ability that has a high potential of killing someone. I'm sure many of you have an ability that fits this description. In our society, quirks are kept under control for safety. The system we have in place right now may seem sound, but we shouldn't forget that if we're not careful we can accidentally kill someone with these amazing abilities. Through the battle training you were able to experience that your quirks have the potential to hurt others. Your powers are not meant just to inflict harm, today you will learn how to use those same destructive powers to save people. I want you all to leave here today with the understanding that you are here to become a hero to help others."
When Thirteen is done with his opening statement, he takes a deep bow. The lights flicker and the fountain in the center of the building sputters for a second. I walk over to my group of friends. I poke Kirishima in the shoulder and ask, "What do you think is going on?"
"I don't know, I hope everything's okay though." he says as he casually places his arm on my shoulder.
All of a sudden Mr. Aizawa shouts out, "Huddle up and don't move," I look around at everyone in their costumes, there is collective confusion apparent on their faces. "Thirteen! Protect the students!"
Kirishima puts his other arm that's not resting on my shoulder up to his face to look out at the figures appearing in the center of the building and says, "What the heck is that? More battle robots like the ones we saw during the entrance exam?"
I go on my tiptoes and try and lift myself up to see the figures he's talking about when Mr. Aizawa says, "Don't move those are Villains!"
"What villains would be stupid enough to come to a school full of soon-to-be heroes?" says Kirishima.
Yoayorozu asks Thirteen, "There are intruder sensors right?"
"Yes, of course!"
I think for a moment about the whole situation and then say, "Well, are they just here or are they at the main building too? Maybe the sensors aren't working because they have someone with a quirk that renders them useless... We're pretty far away from the school's main campus. There's not a lot of people here, but it feels like they picked this time specifically. So, maybe they're not as dumb as they look. Also they probably have an objective. This seems like a well thought out sneak attack."
Mr. Aizawa moves to the edge of the platform we're all on and says, "Thirteen take the kids back to the main campus, evacuate the building. Call the school. Like Schaffer said, there's a high likelihood that one of the villains is jamming the sensors with their quirk. Kaminari can you use your quirk to signal for help?"
"I can try!" Kaminari responds.
"There's too many! Sensei, you can't fight them all alone! Your quirk won't be able to nullify all of theirs. You work best as a subdue and capture hero. Your strength isn't head-on battle." says Midoriya.
Mr. Aizawa pulls his goggles up and over his eyes, then says, "A true pro hero, is well-rounded. Thirteen take care of my students."
He jumps off the ledge and plummets to the horde of villains below. My eyes widen in shock and awe as he's taking them down one after the other. Thirteen and the rest of the class start walking towards the doors to leave the building, but we're stopped by a dark smoky mass.
The smokey mass speaks and says, "I won't allow this. We are the League of Villains, we've come here with one goal in mind. To kill All Might, the symbol of peace. The schedule we intercepted promised he would be here. Perhaps he had a change of plans, it doesn't matter if they have. I still won't let you leave."
I quickly survey my classmates and see the fear in their eyes. I squint through the darkness and catch a glimpse of shiny reflective metal from the center of the mass. "There's something there in the most concentrated part of the entity." I say more to myself than anyone else. Then suddenly Kirishima is gone from my side and so is Bakugo from our group. I see them both dart forward.
*Boom*
"You'll have to get through us first!" yells Bakugo
Kirishima shouts, "Ha! I bet you didn't think of that when you were planning this!"
"You're right I didn't. We forgot that you're not just students, but you are also going to be the world's best someday,"
"Boys, get back!" Thirteen exclaims.
The talking mass, starts expanding rapidly, blocking out the light. My feet move instinctually, sprinting towards them into the fray, with nothing going through my mind other than, 'Save them.'
An ominous message rings out, "Begone. Writhe in torment until you breathe you last breath."
It's the last thing I hear before the darkness consumes me, and everything goes dark.
