Best of the Summer Games Hype Train (Part 2: Demos)
I promised I'd talk about the demos I played during the Steam Next Fest last month and I delivered! 7 profiles on cool, new/upcoming games are up on the blog now. Go read!
Another summer is upon us, ushered in for us gamers by oodles of announcements, a slew of sales, and (my personal favorite) the return of the Steam Next Fest! As I mentioned in part 1 of this summer games shenanigan summary, I’ve had a very, very busy June (hence why this post is like 2 weeks late). Still, I did squeeze in some time to speed date some fresh, new demos as I do whenever a Next Fest…
The devs behind Getting Over It and Ape Out are joining forces to take us on the toughest walk ever with Baby Steps.
Watch the debut trailer here:
Following in the footsteps of QWOP and Getting Over It, Bennett Foddy, Ape Out’s Gabe Cuzzillo, and Maxi Boch join forces for a new game that’s far from a walk in the park. Baby Steps, revealed at today’s PlayStation State of Play, is an actual walking sim tasking players to put one foot in front of the other without falling flat on their face.

The only problem with Ape Out is that it isn't fun. You spend about an hour wandering around procedurally-generated (why?) levels and hoping that the RNG isn't mad at you and that you don't get the bad luck of running into a rocket guy at the wrong time. It has great art design (although not really a style I'm a fan of) and great sound design (although, again, not a style I'm a fan of), but that isn't enough to carry the tedious, not-fun gameplay.
amazing episode EASILY one of my most favorite battle episodes of all time. How Ever is it insane of me to wish it went Just a little bit worse than it did. for the plot
It’s been a hot minute since I’ve posted here—not out of a lack of want, but more out of a lack of motivation. In that time, though, I’ve been testing out art styles, trying to find one that’s more horror-centric. So that’s what I have here!
Most of these are (naturally) from @naffeclipse, both Cryptid Sightings and Apex Polarity. They will never leave my brain <3
