Note
hello! recently ive had an obsession with drinks, and almost each night ive been making one, ranging from chai latte to orange julius, to milkshakes. but ive been running out - do you happen to have any recipes? nonalcoholic would be preferable, and names are just fine too unless it’s not a wide spread concoction. thank you!!!
How about instead of a recipe, I give you some less-used ingredients and you can DIY some combinations?
Red Bell Pepper Juice! You can sometimes buy it at specialty stores, or you can blend/crush/mash some red bell peppers and strain the juice out yourself. I really like it combined with simple syrup and lime juice for a rich mocktail.
You can also use other vegetable juices in fun little drinks. Carrot juice can be surprisingly sweet. Sugar Beets are named that for a reason. There's a lot of folks down here in the south who just drink sweetcorn juice.
You can get a deeper, smokier flavor by braising your veggies until they char a little, before juicing them.
Seedlip Spice 94, for an herbal, conifer-like flavor. I love this paired with lavender syrup, in any clear soda. It tastes like summer!
Coconut Cream (not coconut water! It's different!) Can be used as a base instead of ice cream, with frozen mango for an ultra-creamy, richly flavored frozen drink. The ratios here will be different, so use your own judgement.
Consider going to a foreign food market, and buying like... random canned fruit you've never heard of. Using lychee syrup is delicious. You can also look around for fruits and drinks you've never tried. There's a whole world out there of packaged drink powders!
Gochujang sweetened with honey and lime, cut with ginger beer is... an experience. Get the ratios right, and it's addictive.
Think about muddling herbs/fruits into your clear soda, which aren't just 'mint and cucumber' - Basil and lime. Dill and apple. Blackberry and Anise.
Had muddled basil and simple syrup in some iced coffee recently. It was intriguing. Good? Not sure, but it compelled me.
Be adventurous and you'll never run out of new flavor combinations to try~

Bragging to myself because I am consistently following through on a food plan that is better for my autoimmune issues and more nutritious in general. Today I had a smoothie with raspberry, banana, apple, orange juice, dates, and beet juice; breakfast hash with mixed greens, sweet potato, roasted red pepper, eggs, and sunflower seeds; mint tea, seltzer w/ cranberry concentrate, ginger kombucha; and now I'm roasting vegetables (butternut squash, green + yellow zucchini, rainbow carrots) to have with mushrooms and tofu. I feel less sluggish :)

First Sabbat : Yule
Hi! :) So Yule is in a week an a half! I'm so excited!
I've wrote this little guide to celebrate Yule as a reminder or to help witches who never celebrated Yule before and want to!
This is my personal interpretation of the sabbat. If you celebrated differently in the past Yules I would love to hear about it!
I will be posting a small ritual to do on Yule (december 21) if you want to participate. If you don't have the time on the exact day I always give myself the liberty to celebrate 2-3 days before or after the date of the sabbat!
Much much love,
Juniper !
Tumblr media
Symbolism :
Yule for me is closely associated with the feeling of hope, optimism, dreaming and rest. Although it’s the darkest day of the year, from this point the days start getting longer! It might not be noticeble yet but it’s happening. To me this is the essence of hope and optimism, even if you might not see the change instantly, it’s about knowing that it will get better. It always does. An other aspect of Yule is about embracing rest and, therefore, dreams. At this point in the year, if you live in the north like me, it’s cold outside and there’s snow. To me it’s always an invitation to stay inside and sleep. Enjoying the sun going down early and getting up late to sleep in or go to bed early! We are constantly getting the message that we should always do something be productive or work toward something. As much as I agree that it’s not a good idea to stay in an understimulated job and strive toward nothing, I think rest and not overworking our mind is required. I think it’s actually really productive! So it’s time to rest and dream about the warmer days and what we want to accomplish in the next year! I always let this energy last until the next sabbat which is Imbolc (february 2nd). And yes, that means I’m against the hardcore, intense juice cleanse, gym and weight loss ‘’resolution’’ of January. In my mind it’s a big scam use to sell gym membership and make us feel bad!
Colors : Dark green, red, deep blue, white, silver and gold
Foods : Oranges, apples, caneberries, potatoes, carrots, beets, turnips, hazelnuts, almonds, walnuts, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, clove, Mulled wine, hot spiced cider, meat pie, ginger bread cookies, molasse cookies, Yule log (cake)
Spellworks intentions : dream working (spell bags, astroprojection, dream divination, etc.), spells to bring hope up, spells about renewal, spells for self-care and self-love.
Journal prompts :
What are my hopes for this next year?
What do I dream to achieve this year ? (we are not detailing the exact step to get to your goal yet, we are simply dreaming about what you want for yourself!)
How can I invite the energy of sleep and deep rest in my life ?
Activities : At home spa, watching holiday movies in pyjama, cooking, taking a walk outside while drinking a hot beverage, keeping a dream journal, decorating your home to bring in hope and optimism.

spicy green juice resippy
this is one of my favorite things. it's so tasty and more important it Tastes so much.
one to two bags baby spinach
3-5 campari tomatoes (obviously they don't have to be camparis, but camparis are a nice uniform size and they're tasty so i use them. i would say any tomato that you would eat by itself is good for this, like they should be sweet and flavorful, but don't waste your heirlooms because they won't be a dominant taste in the final product. cherry tomatoes are a good bet. if you're using cherries, i would say use a double handful)
2-3 honeycrisp apples, sliced. you can use another variety obviously but honeycrisp are the tastiest and the apples contribute a lot to the flavor, and also honeycrisp are very large so if you use another variety you'll need more
3-4 big fat carrots or 6-8 pathetic, skinny carrots. if you hate carrot juice have no fear, i also hate carrot juice. the final product is not overwhelmingly carroty, it's just got a little aftertaste. the carrots are mainly for texture, as the combination of carrots and apples adds an almost creamy texture to the whole endeavor
1-2 cups orange juice. pick one that you like because this will be a dominating flavor
some ice, because this drink is best chilled. if you don't want to dilute it, or have a tiny blender, you can freeze some of your fruits and veggies in advance instead. when i was in college and i had a tiny, shitty bullet blender, i would actually take my blender to the dining hall salad bar at lunch, fill it with ingredience (leaving out the orange juice which i would take in a separate cup) and then stick that in my dormroom freezer (and the juice in my fridge) then at dinnertime i would blend it all up. no ice required
1/8-1/4 BOTTLE (that's right. bottle.) of tabasco sauce. yes that much. trust me
pinch of salt
optional: other veggies i have tried in this and were good: celery, cucumbers. other veggies/fruits i have not tried in this but i bet would be good: pears, other dark leafies like collard or mustard greens, rhubarb stalks, peppers, potentially peaches or mangoes, melon. other veggies i have tried in this and sucked ass, DO NOT add: beets.
optional: other seasonings/add ons i have tried in this and were good: ground ginger, paprika, lemon powder, cayenne, red pepper flakes (but be careful: they will distribute the spicy unevenly and you might get a spiciness jumpscare). other seasonings that i have not tried but i bet would be good: lemongrass (powder or that paste you can buy at the supermarket or even fresh if you can get it), fresh ginger/ginger paste, powdered mustard seed, powdered celery salt, turmeric, dill, lemonbalm, mint, maybe old bay seasoning, potentially certain premade salsas though they would have to have no/minimal onions/garlic. steer clear of anything that's too umami-ish (don't like, add soy sauce or mushroom powder or anything like that) or anything with onion or garlic powder (i sometimes put garlic in my OATMEAL so if i am telling you not to put garlic in a thing, for god's sake listen), but other than that just go crazy in your spice cabinet. like add some thyme or something, sky's the limit
anyway. pack all of this in a blender, making sure the tomatoes are on the bottom to give your blender an easier time, then blitz it. i generally only add half the spinach on the first go, because it doesn't all fit, but once everything is liquefied there should be a lot more space and you can add the rest of the spinach.
my blender is a giant two liter vitamix, so if yours is smaller, halve the recipe. if you've got a bullet, quarter it instead, and also i would recommend using baby carrots and a smaller variety of apple (when i was in college i used mcintosh).
anyway, this recipe makes about four servings. store the leftovers in a tupperware with a good solid lid, because this stuff separates so tomorrow when you take it out of the fridge you're going to have to shake it pretty vigorously. it lasts in the fridge for at least four days but i don't know how much longer than that because that's the longest i've ever not drunk it.

reports say that people being released from prison are given injections (or tablets? in food?...) of drugs that cause an overdose and death at home. paracetamol is the one i saw mentioned. so clearly a fast as possible liver flush is key. there is suppposed to be a medical antidote, but i have no word on that. but what if They cannot get medical care???
i am sure medical people in Iran are adressing this now- but to be safe PLEASE FORWARD THIS TO ANY PERSONNE IN IRAN. OR WHO CAN FORWARD IT TO THEM. THE GOAL IS TO GET THIS TO ALL NEIGHBORHOOD LEADERS.
here is a few things i found. bananas, beet greens and spinach. cabbage, cauliflower or brussel sprout juice. COFFEE ENEMAS. MILK THISTLE, AND DANDELION ROOT. orange carrot and ginger juice was also mentioned.
Liver Cleanse Recipe
In addition to the healthy foods and supplements mentioned above, you can give your liver a boost by starting with a quick, 24-hour liver cleanse. In the seven days prior to this short cleanse, eat the following foods:
kale
cabbage
lettuce
cauliflower
broccoli
Brussels sprouts
citrus fruits
asparagus
beets
celery
Avoid any processed foods, and eat free-range organic meats, refined carbohydrates and gluten sparingly. This preparation will help facilitate the cleanse.
During the week you are preparing your body, also try my Secret Detox Drink. It boosts your energy and helps you to detox and cleanse the liver. This recipe calls for apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, cayenne pepper, cinnamon and water.
Then, during the week of your cleanse try this liver detox drink. This recipe will help support your body while cleansing:
Liver Detox Drink
Dilute cranberry juice with a ratio of 3 parts water to 1 part cranberry juice.
Add 1/4 teaspoon each of nutmeg and ginger and a 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon into a tea infuser and let steep in simmering water for 20 minutes.
Allow to cool to room temperature.
Add the juice of 3 oranges and 3 lemons and stir. If the mixture is too tart, sweeten with your favorite all-natural sweetener.
Sip throughout the day.
You should consume a minimum of 72 ounces of this mixture and 72 ounces of water. After one day of the cranberry juice blend, reintroduce the foods you ate in preparation for the liver cleanse.
COFFEE ENEMAS ARE VERY GOOD. and not hard to do.
i have to go back to sleep- PLEASE SPPREAD THIS LIKE CRAZY TO IRANIANS IN IRAN, OR TO WHO CAN!
thank You!
God bless You!

Moderate Yin and Yang Food That Will Keep You Fit And Healthy
If you balance your diet with moderate-energy foods, you can easily keep your body and mind healthy. Avoid extreme yin and yang foods and have these moderate foods.
Tumblr media
Hello, I'm Hiroyuki Naka, a macrobiotic mentor.
Tumblr media
Last time I listed some foods with extreme yin and yang qualities that are difficult to balance. Here are some moderate-energy foods to balance your diet to achieve health and freedom.
These moderate energy foods are relatively easy to balance and can be divided into moderate yin and moderate yang.
If you’re sick, suffering from a cold, or the COVID-19 that’s currently sweeping the world, and you’re feeling physically drained, you should choose what to eat from these moderate yin foods or moderate yang foods I'm going to show you.
Let’s begin with grains.
Moderate yin grains are sprouted brown rice, green rice, oatmeal, sorghum, couscous, job’s tears, pressed barley, whole barley, whole wheat flour, whole wheat udon noodle, whole wheat somen noodle, corn, and polenta.
Tumblr media
Moderate yang grains include brown rice, red rice, black rice, whole buckwheat, barnyard millet, foxtail millet, common millet, quinoa, amaranthus, glutenous brown rice, whole wheat pasta, 100% buckwheat noodle, and whole wheat natural yeast bread.
Tumblr media
Next, vegetables.
Moderate yin vegetables are leaf vegetables such as Japanese mustard spinach, edible chrysanthemum, pak choi, Chinese cabbage, tah tsai, okahijiki (Salsola komarovii), Mitsuba (Japanese parsley), Daikon leaf, radish, wasabi leaf, turnip leaf, Seri (Japanese parsley), watercress, Mizuna greens, mustard leaf, and rape leaf.
White leek, parsley, celery, broccoli, and cucumber.
Snap peas, green peas, green beans. Sprouts such as bean sprouts, radish sprouts, and alfalfa sprouts. Lettuce.
Tumblr media
Edible wild plants come out in spring such as Fuki-noto (Japanese butterbur), and bamboo shoots.
Tumblr media
Mushrooms such as dried shiitake mushroom, fresh shiitake mushroom, shimeji mushroom, maitake mushroom, enoki mushroom, matsutake mushroom, nameko mushroom, and mushroom.
Tumblr media
Taro, konnyaku, horse radish, and ginger.
Seeds and nuts such as almonds, peanuts, sunflower seeds, walnut, and ginkgo nut are moderate yin.
Tumblr media
Moderate yang vegetables are root vegetables such as burdock, lotus root, carrot, daikon radish, dried strips of daikon radish, Japanese yam, and turnip. Round vegetables such as cabbage, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, pumpkin, and onion.
Tumblr media
Chestnut, sesame seed, pumpkin seed, and Yoshino kudzu are moderate yang.
Moderate yin beans are soybean, natto, tempeh, tofu, pinto bean, fava bean, chickpea, kidney bean, mung bean, edamame (young soybean), and soybean product such as fried tofu, soy milk, and okara (soy pulp).
Tumblr media
Moderate yang beans are lentil, azuki, black soybean, and Koya-tofu (freeze-dried tofu).
Tumblr media
Moderate yin seaweeds are nori, aonori, mozuku, agar, wakame, mekabu, and mehibi.
Tumblr media
Moderate yang seaweeds are hijiki, arame, and kelp.
Tumblr media
Next, fruit.
Moderate yin fruits are tangerine, orange, lemon, peach, Japanese pear, pear, melon, watermelon, grape, and persimmon.
Tumblr media
Moderate yang fruits are apple, berries such as strawberry, blueberry, raspberry, cranberry, and blackberry, and dried fruit such as raisin and cherry.
Tumblr media
As for seasonings, white miso, vinegar, barley miso, rape seed oil, olive oil, and corn oil are moderate yin.
Tumblr media
Natural sea salt, blended miso, rice miso, soybean miso, soy sauce, plum vinegar, and sesame oil are moderate yang.
Tumblr media
Moderate yin condiments good to eat brown rice with are perilla condiment, wakame condiment, and aonori condiment.
Gomashio (salt with sesame) and tekka miso are moderate yang.
Among pickles, Bettara-zuke, Nara-zuke, Nozawana-zuke, Asa-zuke, sweet ginger pickles, and German salt pickled cabbage Sauerkraut are relatively yin.
Takuan, Nuka-zuke (typical Japanese pickles made of fermented rice bran), Furu-zuke, and Umeboshi (pickled salty plum) are yang.
Among sweeteners, brown rice amazake, beet sugar, maple syrup, and apple juice are yin, and rice malt syrup is yang. Raisins are used as sweetener occasionally which is yang.
As for tea, Mugi-cha (roasted barley tea) drunk often in the summertime in Japan, green tea and herbal tea are yin.
Tumblr media
Hoji-cha, San-nen-bancha, Kuki-cha (green tea mainly uses stems instead of leaves), roasted grain beverage are yang, and dandelion coffee (roasted dandelion root) is very yang.
Tumblr media
And animal-derived foods of moderate energy compared to the extreme yang animal-derived foods I mentioned former are white-fleshed fish such as sea bass, flatfish, flounder, sillago, sea bream, cod, and tilefish, and river fish such as carp, crucian carp, sweetfish, trout, and rockfish, and shellfish such as Japanese clam, oyster, abalone, and turban shell.
Tumblr media
Those foods of moderate energy are relatively easy to balance, but if you continue to eat the same food as it is said to be good for health, you’ll get biased yin or yang anyways which leads to sickness or illness.
To avoid that, when you eat yin food, it is necessary to prepare yang food to make balance, and vice versa is right.

Top 10 Juices to Jumpstart Your Weight Loss Journey (and Keep it Going!)
Hey everyone! We all know the struggle – that extra weight that just seems to stick around. You might be watching what you eat, hitting the gym, or even trying out yoga at home for weight loss, but sometimes that stubborn weight just won't budge.
Well, listen up! While juice cleanses and fad diets might be tempting, a sustainable weight loss plan is key. Here's where juices can be awesome allies! Packed with vitamins, minerals, and water, they can help you feel fuller for longer, curb cravings, and give your body a healthy boost.
But with all those juicing recipes out there, where do you even start? Don't worry, I've got you covered! Here's my top 10 list of weight-loss friendly juices, along with some tips to make juicing a fun and effective part of your journey.
Hydration Hero: Celery Juice
Tumblr media
We all know water is king, but sometimes you crave something with a little more flavor. Celery juice is your low-cal BFF. At over 95% water, it keeps you hydrated while being super low in calories. Plus, it's packed with antioxidants and beneficial plant compounds that fight inflammation – a big factor in weight gain.
Tip: Celery juice can be a bit strong on its own. Try adding a squeeze of lemon or a cucumber for a refreshing twist.
2. Green Goodness: Classic Green Juice
Tumblr media
Think of green juice as a garden in a glass! Leafy greens like kale, spinach, and swiss chard are loaded with vitamins, minerals, and fiber (although juicing removes some fiber, you'll still get a good dose). They also help with digestion and reduce inflammation.
Tip: Don't be afraid to experiment with flavors! Add some sweetness with apple or pear, or a zing with lemon or grapefruit.
3. Belly Buster: Watermelon Mint Cooler
Tumblr media
Watermelon is practically synonymous with summer, but it's a weight-loss warrior year-round! This juicy fruit is high in water and low in calories, making it super filling. Plus, it contains L-citrulline, an amino acid that can help your body burn fat more efficiently. Mint adds a refreshing touch and aids digestion.
Tip: For an extra protein boost, add a handful of chia seeds to your juice.
4. Citrus Powerhouse: Grapefruit and Ginger Juice
Tumblr media
Grapefruit is a breakfast staple for a reason! Studies suggest it can help with weight management by promoting feelings of fullness and regulating blood sugar. Ginger adds a spicy kick that can also help curb cravings and boost your metabolism.
Tip: If the tartness of grapefruit is a bit much, try adding a squeeze of orange or a dash of honey for a touch of sweetness.
5. Beet It! Beetroot and Carrot Blast
Tumblr media
Beetroot might seem like an unusual juicing ingredient, but hear me out! This vibrant root vegetable is loaded with antioxidants and nitrates, which can help improve blood flow and oxygen delivery to your muscles, enhancing your workouts. Carrots add a touch of sweetness and beta-carotene, which is great for your skin.
Tip: Beetroot can stain, so be careful when prepping! Wear gloves or wash your hands thoroughly afterwards.
6. Tropical Twist: Pineapple and Spinach Surprise
Tumblr media
Don't let the spinach scare you away! This tropical blend is a delicious way to get your daily dose of greens. Pineapple is a natural source of bromelain, an enzyme that can help with digestion and reduce inflammation. Plus, it's sweet and juicy, making the spinach more palatable.
Tip: Frozen pineapple chunks are a great way to add a frosty feel to your juice on a hot day.
7. Berry Blast: Mixed Berry Medley
Tumblr media
Berries are nutritional powerhouses! Packed with antioxidants, vitamins, and fiber, they can help keep you feeling full and regulate blood sugar. This mix allows you to play with different flavors – strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, the choice is yours!
Tip: If you're using frozen berries, there's no need to add ice cubes.
8. Spicy Sunrise: Veggie and Ginger Kickstart
Tumblr media
Looking for a morning pick-me-up with a kick? This juice is your answer! Start with cucumber and celery for hydration, then add a zing with ginger and jalapeno (be careful with the amount!). Finish it off with a squeeze of lemon for a vitamin C boost.
Tip: This juice can be quite spicy. Adjust the amount of jalapeno to your taste preference.
9. Creamy Dream: Tropical Protein Powerhouse
Tumblr media
This juice is perfect for an afternoon pick-me-up or post-workout refuel. Combine mango and banana for a creamy texture and natural sweetness. Spinach adds a hidden dose of greens, while almond milk provides a protein boost to keep you feeling fuller for longer.
Tip: Use frozen banana chunks for a thicker, creamier consistency.
10. Immunity Booster: Citrus and Veggie Medley
Tumblr media
This juice is a one-two punch for your immune system and your waistline! Grapefruit and orange provide a dose of vitamin C, while carrots and beetroot add antioxidants and essential vitamins. Ginger keeps the flavor interesting and may help with digestion.
Tip: If you find the grapefruit and orange too tart, add a green apple for a touch of sweetness.
ALSO READ: Can Buttermilk Aid Your Weight Loss Journey?
Remember: Juicing is a fantastic way to add extra nutrients to your diet and support your weight loss journey, but it's not a magic bullet. Here are some extra tips to maximize your success:
Focus on Whole Foods: While juices are great, don't ditch your fruits and veggies altogether! You'll get more fiber by eating them whole.
Portion Control: Juices can be high in sugar, so limit yourself to one serving (around 16 ounces) per day.
Balanced Diet: Pair your juices with healthy meals and snacks to ensure you're getting all the nutrients your body needs.

Can You Eat Beetroot Raw? Benefits, Recipes & More
Tumblr media
We often see beets cooked – roasted, boiled, or maybe even pickled. But have you ever wondered, "Can beetroot be eaten raw?" Turns out, raw beets are not only edible but also offer a unique flavor and some surprising health benefits. Let's explore the vibrant world of raw beetroot! All About Raw Beetroots Beetroot, also known as beets, are those gorgeous, deep-purple root vegetables you see in the produce section. While most people think of them as a cooked veggie, they're perfectly safe and surprisingly delicious eaten raw. Raw beets have a slightly sweet, earthy flavor and offer a satisfying crunch. Why Eat Beetroot Raw? - Maximum Nutrients: When beets are raw, they're nutritional powerhouses. They retain all their antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals. Cooking beets can cause some nutrient loss, though they're still healthy! - Unique Flavor: Love them or hate them, raw beets have a distinct taste that's different from cooked varieties. Some people find them sweeter with less of that intense "beet" flavor when raw. - Dietary Nitrates: Beets are famous for their nitrates. These natural compounds turn into nitric oxide in your body, which is awesome for blood flow and might even improve athletic performance. How Raw Beetroot Can Boost Your Health - Heart Healthy: Eating raw beetroot might help keep your blood pressure in check, which is important for a healthy heart. - Workout Buddy: Studies hint that consuming raw beetroot or beet juice could boost your workout endurance and give you that extra push. - Packed with Power: Thanks to antioxidants like betalains, raw beets help fight inflammation and protect your cells from damage. - Potential Benefits: There's even some research suggesting that the antioxidants in raw beets might have some anti-cancer effects. Raw vs. Cooked Beets FeatureRaw BeetsCooked BeetsNutrient ContentMaximum nutrient retention, especially nitratesSome nutrient loss during cookingFlavorEarthy, slightly sweet, and crunchySweeter with a softer texturePreparationRequires peeling (optional), grating, juicing, etc.Often easier to prepareAthletic BenefitsMay offer a stronger boost due to higher nitrate contentStill beneficial, but the nitrate effect might be lessened How to Prepare Raw Beetroots - Peel or Not? That's the Question: The skin of a raw beet is totally edible, but some people find it a bit tough. If you'd rather, peel your beets before enjoying them. - Wash and Trim: Give your beets a good scrub under running water to remove any dirt. Trim the root end and the leafy tops (save the greens for later!). - Get Creative: You can eat raw beets tons of different ways: - Grated or Shaved: Perfect for salads and slaws - Sliced: Enjoy them as a crunchy snack - Juiced: Blend raw beets into a vibrant and refreshing drink - Spiralized: Turn raw beets into "noodles" for a fun twist Yummy Recipes to Try Ready for some beetroot magic? Here are a few simple and delicious ways to try them raw: - Beet and Citrus Salad: Combine shaved raw beets, orange segments, a bit of crumbled goat cheese, and a drizzle of balsamic vinaigrette. Super refreshing! - Powerhouse Beet Juice: Blend a raw beet with carrots, apples, and a little ginger for a vitamin-packed energy booster. - Beetroot Dip: Think hummus, but with beets! Roast a beet, then blend it with chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, and garlic for a vibrant, flavorful spread. Don't Forget the Beet Greens! Those leafy green tops attached to your beetroot are a treasure! They're packed with nutrients and can be eaten raw in salads, sautéed, or even blended into smoothies. No food waste here! Myth Buster: Are Raw Beets Better Than Cooked? Both raw and cooked beets are good for you! Raw beets give you their absolute maximum nutrient power, especially those nitrates. Cooked beets might be a little sweeter and easier to digest for some people. So it comes down to your preference and what you enjoy most. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YDGcBuwwKpQ&pp=ygUZY2FuIGJlZXRyb290IGJlIGVhdGVuIHJhdw FAQs About Eating Raw Beetroot Q: Is beetroot safe to eat raw? A: Absolutely! Raw beetroot is completely safe and healthy to eat for most people. Q: Do I have to peel beetroot before eating it raw? A: Nope, you don't have to! The skin is edible. But, if you find the texture a bit tough, feel free to peel it before enjoying your raw beet. Q: Is it better to eat beetroot raw or cooked? A: Both ways offer benefits! Raw beets give you their full nutritional punch, especially when it comes to nitrates. Cooked beets might be easier on the tummy for some and can have a sweeter flavor. It's all about what you like best! Q: When's the best time to eat raw beetroot? A: You can enjoy raw beetroot anytime! However, if you're aiming for an athletic boost, consider having some raw beets or beet juice a few hours before your workout. Q: Are there any downsides to eating raw beetroot? A: Here are a few things to keep in mind: - Beeturia: Eating beets (raw or cooked) can cause a harmless but kinda surprising side effect – pink or reddish urine! - Digestive Issues: Some people might experience mild stomach discomfort when eating raw beets. If you do, try cooked beets, or introduce raw beets to your diet gradually. - Moderation is Key: Raw beets are healthy, but like anything, it's good to enjoy them in moderation. Q: Are there people who should avoid raw beetroot? A: Those with kidney issues should be mindful of the oxalate content in raw beets. Talk to your doctor if you have concerns. Expert Tip: To minimize potential digestive discomfort, start with small portions of raw beets and gradually increase your intake. Your gut will get used to them in no time! Maximizing the Goodness of Raw Beetroot Here are a few tips to get the most out of your raw beetroot experience: - Choose the Freshest: Opt for beets that are firm, heavy for their size, and have vibrant skin. The leafy greens should look crisp and not wilted. - Store Them Smart: Store unwashed beets in the fridge, wrapped in a paper towel inside a plastic bag. They'll stay good for a few weeks this way. The beet greens are best eaten fresh, within a few days. - Pair Them Up: - Combine with Citrus: The vitamin C in fruits like oranges and lemons helps your body absorb iron from beets. - Mix with Healthy Fats: Adding a drizzle of olive oil or some avocado alongside your raw beets can boost the absorption of fat-soluble nutrients. - Don't Overdo It: Beetroot is fantastic for you, but enjoy it in moderation, especially if you're sensitive to oxalates (naturally-occurring compounds found in beets). Fun Fact: Did you know that beets were once considered an aphrodisiac? The ancient Romans believed they sparked feelings of love and passion! Beyond Eating - Other Uses for Raw Beetroots While eating them is great, the fun doesn't stop there. Try these unique ways to use raw beets: - Natural Food Dye: Grated raw beets can add a stunning pop of pink to frosting, homemade pasta, dips, and more! - Beauty Boost: Beetroot juice can be used for a temporary rosy lip and cheek tint. Careful, it stains easily! Key Takeaways - Raw beetroot is safe, delicious, and offers unique health benefits. - Enjoy it in salads, juices, smoothies, dips, or even on its own! - Listen to your body and introduce raw beetroot gradually to your diet. - Pair raw beets with citrus or healthy fats for maximum nutrient absorption. Conclusion So there you have it! Raw beets are not only edible but surprisingly tasty and incredibly good for you. If you've always thought of beets as just a cooked veggie, it's time to expand your horizons. Whether you're looking for a nutritional boost, a workout enhancer, or simply a way to add a splash of color and flavor to your meals, give raw beetroot a try! I love adding thinly shaved raw beets to salads for an extra burst of sweetness and an eye-catching look. Have you tried raw beetroot before?
