I think so much about the tragedy of Arctic and Foeslayer. They were both young, newly adults who were sick and tired of living under the oppressive rule of their mother's. They wanted freedom and peace from it. When Foeslayer and Arctic found each other and found common ground with their desires to escape their lives, they fell in love; both with each other and with the idea of running away from their family. That the other was their way out of their pre-determined life. That they had some control and now's the chance to run.
They weren't thinking and were running off of blind admiration and a dream of no longer being bossed around. They didn't know that their actions would bring forth a war. I think when the initial euphoria of being free wore off and the reality of the situation sunk in is when they realized they weren't so much in love with the other as they were with the concept of escaping their miserable lives.
But, here they are together. Dragons are dying because of their impulsive actions. They have two dragonets they have to raise. Each passing day they can't stand each other more and more. It was doomed to fail. A tragedy in every sense of the word
Arctic and Foeslayer are gazing at their newborn dragonet twins with passionate expressions. The not yet named white and dark blue dragonet reached and touched Arctic’s snout, her expression looking worried. A tingle spreading from her tiny talons to her father’s snout. It was so small, the action so incredibly small yet something in Arctic shifted. His ugly pained heart began to beat at a softer rhythm and a sort of relief and fondness settled over him so strong he nearly began to shake. His eyes burned. Foeslayer had noticed the large silver scales on her dragonets eyes, and knew that her dragonets knew exactly how much she loved them. And she knew love them irrevocably, unconditionally, forever. Arctic’s heart felt lighter. Strange energy and love buzzed in the air.

Whiteout didn’t know what she had done, she had no idea what her talons had just done nor what had changed, and she would likely not remember…
KoFi Link Here | I nearly finished reading Legends Darkstalker, despite Arctic being... like that, he is one of my favorite characters in WoF- at least in the prologue of Legends Darkstalker and his pov in Runaways.

[ID FROM ALT] A colored drawing of a piercing white dragon sitting in the foreground with his head held high giving a rather nasty snarl: baring his teeth as his blue eye looks towards the viewer. He sits in a rather minimalist background of a mountain range, it is night time with three moons shining in the background illuminating his white scales almost making him glow. [/END ID]

The second chapter in Darkstalker is still the funniest thing ever to me.
Arctic: "Jesus fuck, that baby is ugly. He looks like you."
Foeslayer: "I'm going to name him Darkstalker because it means that he'll stalk the dark and protect others."
Arctic: "You're weird as hell. I wish I divorced your ass earlier."
Darkstalker, Who Is Literally A Newborn: "Goo goo ga ga. (Father, I despise you with every fiber of my being. I have watched from within the constraints of my egg, this prison, as the love and life within you dwindles. I cannot forgive you for what you have done. You are the sole reason as to why I now much conquer the world.)"
Genuinely seen people going "arctic isn't that bad!!" Like HUH???? Like yeah maybe when comparing him to other morally bad characters he may not look "that bad" in comparison but that still dosent change the fact he was an awful abusive father and wanted to FORCE his daughter who cannonically has associative synesthesia "act normal"
