For explnation for Duryodhana and Jason's differences I'm confused about more the later than former. Because with Gilgamesh he makes it very clear what type of indiviuals he favors.

But on the other one it's confusion both ways. I'm not sure what kind of person Jason is attempting to be; I just have a broad concept, and Artoria's taste in people has always been hazy, made much more so by the fact that the only individual she has romanced(properly) is essentially a mirror. Aside from that, the only persons she openly enjoys interacting with (to the best of my knowledge) are Kojiro and Diarumnd and I only see superficial similarities.

No, you're exactly on the right track. The only individual she romanced is Shirou who is a mirror of her will to help those in need. The pursuit of her ideal drove her to unite the tribes of the isles under her kingdom, which she ruled with machine-like impartiality.

Jason's story is very different. He never got to be king. His character was created as the example of good people doing bad things. Both in his life and his Okeanos summon, he fought tooth and nail for his kingship but Medea Lily's final message for him is that he couldn't make the utopia he sought because he had Jason's personality.

But Jason was looking at the same unreachable star as Arthuria. His ideal and her ideal are both varied groups of people united in mutual respect and equality. Whenever Jason rambled about his ideal national, he never failed to mention a kingdom without prejudice. Remember we're talking about the captain who conquered Heracles by saying "By my side, you will not be a monster".

Anon asks about the Nasuverse, which is a sprawling multiple anime, video game, visual novel universe usually with the title "Fate" where you can summon historical/mythological figures to do battle for you over the Holy Grail which may also be the source of ultimate evil if corrupted.

I'm one of those heathens that only respects Fate/Zero, which is the prequel series to the original timelines of Fate/Stay Night, Fate/Ultimate Blade Works, etc.

I've tried other franchises in the multiverse aside from Fate/Zero, I couldn't do it. I'm sorry guys, to me, they are complete trash and unworthy of contemplation.

Arthuria Pendragon is one of those strange, rare, people who fully embodies an ideal (in this case chivalry and the divinely anointed king). However, because of this, she is a failed king in that while she inspired her people she ultimately failed to keep them, was betrayed by those around her, and had little to no understanding of what it means to lead a nation.

Alexander the Great points this out to her and pities her for it, he believes she'd make a far better vassal under his command than a king in her own right.

Gilgamesh, however, is fascinated.

Arthuria is such a tragic figure to him, a classic tragedy given form, and one who never quite breaks even when the results of her efforts are shown before her.

This is the shit Gilgamesh lives for.

He wants to see just how far Arthuria can be pushed before she crumbles. And, if she never does, if she retains this hopeful naivite and someone worthy of being presented Excalibur in the face of everything that's happened, then she is something truly extraordinary.

Gilgamesh lives in a world that bores him in which the people he tends to meet, for this or that reason, are all the same. There are a few who stand out of the crowd: Kirei Kotomine in the depths of depravity and pure evil the man is capable of and Arthuria Pendragon on the opposite end of someone who despite everything refuses to be anything less than infuriatingly noble.

He knows, as of the end of Fate/Zero, that he will see her again when the next Grail War comes about. What's ten years for one of the most interesting people he's met? Who, the last time he saw her, was utterly betrayed by her master, faced her underling who she learned she'd driven utterly mad, etc.

I think his marriage proposals were actually quite genuine in that Arthuria was just that interesting to him.

The "pendragon|orkney" family does exist (as in mom(igraine)(she's alive), dad(uther)(he left them), morgan and lot, and nephews and nieces (morgan lost a bet to 5 year old arturia and had to name her kids after the knights) and more arthuriana characters are scattered around too, but they dont have an importance to the HGW part of the AU, with the exception of a few

They still call her Arturia (TECHNICALLY they call her Arthuria, because i love that name and no one will take it from me) because the few years that Uther was with them, he called Arturia "Arthur" because he wanted a boy and he couldnt cope (theres the History repeats itself motif and also misogynistic men like that still exist), so Morgan used Arthur*ia* as a nickname, and it stuck

This is where i will confess that im thinking of using a different name for Arturia, i already Kinda do in my notes. As in legal name (thinking of Aurlyn, which is similar but different enough). I would be doing the same with some of the Orkney siblings whose names would not be as common in the modern world or too obvious a reference, while still being named after the knights (Gareth would stay as Gareth cuz thats literally still a mormal name people use, but a name like Agravain or Mordred arent as common, ig. Or Gawain. And Gaheris. Actually only Gareth has a mormal fcking name)

ALSO mordred is Morgan and Lot's kid in this. No weird cloning in my modern AU. Genetics from the pendragon hit hard tho, they still look like Arturia

The reason why Cath Palug is there is because this AU follows the F/SN timeline, which is a timeline in which Chaldeas never formed. Therefore, Fou never learned to love people, teehee. He only learned to hate Merlin and King Arthur (?)

Also theres a modern Guinevere, tho her name is literally just Gwen, and Arturia and her met during high school Time but they werent Actually classmates (think like, tournaments or trips to other school/places). I called her "arturia's high school crush" in the tags of a previous ask but they are still friends and talk a lot

Every otaku producer on any at least decently-sized project is chained to very BIG MONEY merch contracts. Merch sales are one of the biggest cogs making the anime industry run and because of that, merch manufacturers expect producers not to allow anything that would make their products fail to reflect the contents of the show.

A recent example that sparked controversy about this is the new Tokyo Mew Mew reboot anime. Mew Mew is a series where pretty much everyone important has food names, but the early scanlators failed to notice how far this motif extended and rendered Quiche's name as Kisshu. This is spread in the fandom enough to make merch makers assume that was the proper way to spell his name in English and produce pins with the name Kisshu written in Roman letters. Thanks to that, over a decade later, the Mew Mew translator on Crunchyroll subs is forced to use Kisshu on her script despite knowing it's wrong.

But this is a Type-Moon post, so let's talk about Type-Moon instead. On October 29th, 2010, Nasu released Fate/complete material III, containing profiles for all Servants featured in Fate/stay Night. In his lack of English knowledge, he most likely relied on Google to learn how to romanize all those names. This generated two curious results: Arthuria was rendered as Altria, as the first search result for アルトリア would be the cigarette corporation, and Rider favored the French spelling Medousa over the English Medusa.

Flash forward to May 25th, 2016. At this year, Fate/Grand Order had already been released and proved itself a commercial success against all odds. In celebration of that, FuRyu Corporation sculpted the source of all evil.

FuRyu's figure utilized the erroneous "Altria" from Complete Material III. Here is where I want you to notice that FuRyu did not release a Medusa figure alongside it. "Altria Pendragon" is the only character in this collection.

Our next chronological stop is August 14, 2016. Merely 3 months after the FuRyu Altria figure began to spread its corruption through all we know and love. That's the day Fate/Grand Order Material I came out, containing profiles for Saber Arthuria and Medusa.

As you can see in the right corner, Medousa is no more. Due to having 6 more years to learn things and no merch contract forever chaining him to his spelling mistake, Nasu had the opportunity to correct Medusa's name, which also settled it as the name FGO NA legally had to go with.

So when I say FGO NA translators went with Tam Lin because it's literally illegal not to do so, I am talking about
