The feather headdress worn by actor Tenoch Huerta at the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever comic-con presentation, is called a copilli.
The Copilli (plural: copiltin) can be translated as 'feather headdress' or 'feather crown' and it's made from 'precious' feathers that in the pre-Hispanic world represented the union between the earthly (us) and the divine (gods).
Made by mexican artisans: Hijos del Maiz
"The chosen colors were black and blue as a reminder of the personality of his character Namor, who lives in the depths of the ocean in a hidden underwater city and that apparently will have a strong link with the Mayan culture, belonging to the southern Mexico and part of Central America."

Please tell me more about neighbourhood PMCs in renaissance Italy
It would be my pleasure! (My research into this owes a lot to the excellent Power and Imagination: City-States in Renaissance Italy by Lauro Martines.)
Tumblr media
The first thing to note that, unlike the condottieri, these were not private military companies. Rather, the neighborhood military companies (in the sense of a military unit, rather than a profit-making entity) were self-defense organizations formed as part of a centuries-long political struggle for control over the urban commune between the signorile (the urban chivalry)/nobilita (the urban nobility) and the populo (the guilded middle class, who claimed to speak on behalf of "the people").
This conflict followed much the same logic that had given rise to the medieval commune in the first place. Legally, the communes had started as mutual defense pacts between the signorile and the cives (the free citizens of the city) against the rural feudal nobility, which had given these groups the military and political muscle to push out the marquises and viscounts and barons and claim exclusive authority over the tax system, the judicial system, and the military.
So it made sense that, once they had vanquished their enemies and established the commune as the sovereign, both sides would use the same tactic in their struggle over which of them would rule the commune that ruled the city. The signorile and nobilita formed themselves into consorteria or "tower societies," by which ancient families allied with one another (complete with dynastic marriage alliances!) to build and garrison the towers with the knights, squires, men-at-arms, and bravi of their households. These phallic castle substitutes were incredibly formidable within the context of urban warfare, as relatively small numbers of men with crossbows could rain down hell on besiegers from the upper windows and bridges between towers, even as the poor bastards on the ground tried to force the heavy doors down below.
Tumblr media
To combat noble domination of communal government, achieve direct representation on the political councils, establish equity of taxation and regulate interest rates, and enforce legal equality between nobility and citizenry, the populo formed themselves into guilds to build alliances between merchants and artisans in the same industries. However, these amateur soldiers struggled to fight on even footing with fully-trained and well-equipped professional soldiers, and the guild militias were frequently defeated.
To solve their military dilemma, the populo engaged in political coalition-building with the oldest units of the urban commune: the neighborhoods. When the cities of medieval Italy were originally founded, they had been rather decentralized transplantations of the rural villages, where before people had any conception of a city-wide collective their primary allegiance was to their neighborhood. As can still be seen in the Palio di Siena to this day, these contrade built a strong identity based on local street gangs, the parish church, their traditional heraldry, and their traditional rivalries with the stronzi in the next contrade over. And whether they were maggiori, minori, or unguilded laborers, everyone in the city was a member of their contrade.
Tumblr media
As Martines describes, the populo both recruited from (and borrowed the traditions of) the contrade to form their armed neighborhood companies into a force that would have the manpower, the discipline, and the morale to take on the consorteria:
"Every company had its distinctive banner and every house in the city was administratively under the sign of a company. A dragon, a whip, a serpent, a bull, a bounding horse, a lion, a ladder: these, in different colors and on contrasting fields, were some of the leitmotifs of the twenty different banners. They were emblazoned on individual shields and helmets. Rigorous regulations required guildsmen to keep their arms near at hand, above all in troubled times. The call to arms for the twenty companies was the ringing of a special bell, posted near the main public square. A standard-bearer, flanked by four lieutenants, was in command of each company."
To knit these companies organized by neighborhood into a single cohesive force, the lawyers' guilds within the populo created a state within a state, complete with written constitutions, guild charters, legal codes, legislative and executive councils. Under these constitutions, the populo's councils would elect a capitano del popolo, a professional soldier from outside the city who would serve as a politically-neutral commander, with a direct chain of command over the gonfaloniere and lieutenants of the neighborhood companies, to lead the populo against their noble would-be overlords.
And in commune after commune, the neighborhood companies made war against the consorteria, taking the towers one by one and turning them into fortresses of the populo. The victorious guilds turned their newly-won military might into political hegemony over the commune, stripping the nobilita of their power and privilege and forcing them either into submission or exile. Then they directed their veteran neighborhood companies outward to seize control of the rural hinterland from the feudal aristocracy, until the city had become city-state.
(Ironically, in the process, the populo gave birth to the condottieri, as the nobility who had lost their landed wealth and political power took their one remaining asset - their military training and equipment - and became professional mercenaries. But that's a story for another time...)

The more i think about it, the more content I am to live in a world where some of my bookshelf is stocked with unpublished fics written by friends- hard copies only a few are lucky to own. A world where much of my jewelry is made by those who took the time to cinch each metal ring with pliers and string, strange, wonky clay beads of their own design. Where a lot of my wardrobe is decided, not by what I bought on a whim, but what others who could sew and knit thought to make for me. Where the art in my house was painted and drawn by a pair of hands I've held, but only 300 followers on Instagram have seen with their eyes. A world where the folklore I tell my children is the DnD sessions I played with my party, and the fairy tales I made up when we walked along the hiking paths in the woods.
I want to live in a world where the people I call geniuses, artists and artisans are the people I personally love.
That is a world created by love.

Hi again everyone! Time for another Spyro sketch. These are so much fun.
It’s Gildas this time. He’s such a doll, and I felt like drawing him happy and laughing. Out of all the older dragons, Spyro seems so keen to listen to him. I bet they have a good relationship.

Spyro the Dragon - Artisans:
“Time to revisit our favorite dragon’s first adventure. Spyro 1 may not be my favorite one, but there’s just something special about it that makes me want to keep revisiting it. Maybe it’s the fact this game has some of my favorite levels and visuals in the whole franchise. This homeworld is a good example of it.”
PS: the gameplay used for this gifset is not mine. The original video belongs to the user: prosafiagaming, on Youtube.

people who do comms as a sizeable chunk (or all of) their income!!!! i have Questions about how y'all handle them so i can get a better organization system down for them
up til now what ive been doing is putting out calls for comms just kinda whenever i need the extra money, but as ive talked about recently, i wanna start doing them regularly so im not Broke All The Time
my goal is to make around $400/m to start out, which equals out to about 10 sketches a month max. that said, i want a system in place to make this manageable in the first place?
ive seen some people do this thing where they make a call for people to commission them one month, send out invoices, then work on them over the course of the following month. how well does that work for y'all? or is there a system y'all prefer over that?

[Image ID: The word "Artisans" above a pixel music note.]
Since my Clans have cooking, pottery, and other early society inventions, they need a role responsible for crafting those items. They also need cats who can provide entertainment to their Clan, relieving the pressure of their daily lives with art and beauty. Therefore, we have the artisans. Like caretakers, we can split an artisan's responsibilities into three categories; crafting, trade, and entertainment. RippleClan has yet to find an artisan as of Moon 12, but when they do, they'll take over these tasks.
Artisans: Crafting
Artisans are responsible for crafting the tools and resources used by the Clan. With over a century of culture at their paws and generations of cats developing their skills, artisans are able to make a lot of goods! There are a lot of different crafts out there, but here are some of the most important/interesting:
Weaving: The Clans make twine out of materials like milkweed to craft baskets, which are perfect for storing food, herbs, and various other items.
Pottery: The Clans make frequent use of clay from the Great Northern River and the coastline to craft pottery. Pottery is great for storing liquids and other items too small to keep in baskets. It also allows the Clans to have cookware for various dishes!
Leathermaking: The Clans take the pelts of their prey and make leather out of it. This leather can line den floors, warm nests, or use to cover cats who have lost fur and need extra warmth. These coverings are some of the most complex crafts an artisan can work on. Currently, the Clans are experimenting with more customizable leatherwork, such as sleeves that can be worn over paws to fiddle with fire. Items like bags are some ways off, as baskets tend to do the job well.
Accessories: The Clans can make some accessories that are worn around camp, to Gatherings, or to otherwise boost appearance. Necklaces are the most common accessory (such as the simple twine necklace given to Twinekit upon her death), but tail wraps/bracelets are also popular.
Food: Artisans are the main cats responsible for cooking meals for the Clan using the resources gathered by caretakers. While caretakers tend the fire and large structures used for artisan crafts, artisans are the ones who work with them. This is why Downstar took up artisan tasks when she founded RippleClan, as her caretaker training sometimes crossed with artisan knowledge.
Woodwork: Most of the Clan's woodworking involves carving with twigs, sticks, and branches. The task of bringing down an entire tree is demanding, extremely difficult, and disliked by most cats due to the negative impact a dead tree has on the rest of the forest. As such, the Clans scavenge what wood they can or cut out branches from a tree trunk.
Tool-making: Artisans take stones and sharpen them into tools for their other crafts. A lot of their tools wouldn't be that familiar to human audiences, as they are designed to work when held in a cat's mouth or between two paws.
Artisans: Trade
Since artisans are responsible for crafting the tools of the Clans, they journey to their neighbor's borders and engage in trade. Most trade is a simple bartering system; one Clan gives another a basket in exchange for a pot, a jar of oil for a rare and brilliant stone. Artisans have a largely unspoken agreement on the value of certain items, based on how easily said resource can be obtained across all five Clans and its uses. The value also adjusts based on the quality of the work done. Artisans argue and barter about the value of their goods and what they should get in return. A good artisan apprentice learns how to craft a good argument, often joining codekeeper apprentices in their lessons on the subject. An outsider would likely be confused by the leaps of logic artisans make in their arguments, but it's just the language of trade.
Artisans are often joined by mediators when they need to discuss diplomacy or trade services as opposed to goods. Artisans do some of their best work during the Gathering, when everyone brings supplies for communal dishes and hostilities are forgotten for a while.
Artisans: Entertainment
When artisans aren't working on their crafts or going to the borders, they entertain their Clanmates. They learn songs, dance, and play some of the few instruments the Clans have made for themselves. You'll often find a few artisans performing at the Gathering or other Clan-wide holidays/celebrations. They make dye and paint on rocks or leather in a rudimentary canvas (the latter of which must be carefully stored to prevent damage). They even make carvings from wood and stone.
Like historians, artisans tell stories, but their tales are purely fictional. With fictional tales, they can play with morals and impart lessons on others without the suffering of real cats. They may supplement these stories with acting, carvings, and even some of the strangest accessories of all; masks. These shows and performances lend artisans to the task of holiday preparation and organization, making sure everyone in the Clan makes sure to take time off.
RippleClan... really needs an artisan.
