Avatar Zuko leaves the North Pole after the disastrous invasion of the Fire Nation. His mission: to seek out an earthbending master to help him master the final element in the cycle.
Because only the master of all four elements can stand against the Fire Lord and his armies. Only the master of all four elements can bring balance to the world once again.
Only the Avatar can fix what Sozin's dynasty has destroyed - even if most days, Zuko feels more like an exhausted, banished prince, suffocating under the tarnished legacy of his cruel father.
Showing up 3 years late with Starbucks: what's up, my fellow kids?
BOOK TWO: EARTH of the Legend of Avatar Zuko is now posting, with weekly updates

Kintsugi is the art of decorating your scars with pieces of Agni.
In the Fire Nation, the amount of golden marks are a sign of status. Only the Royal Family can afford to seal every single wound with Kintsugi. Such is the weight of this tradition that, among the ones with Agni's blood, it is the highest mark of dishonor to have a natural scar, for it proves you aren't worthy of the privilege.
After the Agni Kai, Ozai forbid Zuko's scar to be sealed with Kintsugi. The boy wasn't worth his title, his traditions or his pride. Zuko would be broken, but he wouldn't be beautiful. Not anymore.
(And sometimes it's easier to pretend he never was)

I wanted to go a bit more in-depth with this piece that I did for zukka week 2023 because i got inspired to do more insane clothing details. ID in ALT.
Ramble about the influences/inspirations below:
Design inspirations for Sokka's clothing are mainly Inuvialuit and Yup'ik, with Nenets, Tlingit, and Chukchi inspiration for the tassels, patterns, belt and beadwork. I mixed these with the ornaments canon shows us used by the Northern Water Tribe, and also in Legend of Korra. I got particularly excited about drawing from Inuvialuit sources since the tassels we see in canon look like they could be inspired by this. Going beyond canon's animation-friendly colour scheme, I drew from Nenets patterns/embroidery/sashes and Yup'ik beadwork for accent colours. I think in the future I'd like to find ways to incorporate more Tlingit-style patterns since I rarely see them in fanart (which is a shame - they're stunning), but since they tend to be very big I ultimately decided to only include them as a nod in order to keep the regalia recognisable as 'Water Tribe'. I wonder if I could start using Polynesian influences as well?
Zuko's headdress and particularly the shoulder garment and beaded embroidery draw heavily from women's clothing styles of Lê Dynasty Vietnam. The other main influence is men's royal clothing in Tang Dynasty China, and patterns worn by Mongolian Khatun. Since we have a bit more to go on in canon as to what fire nation regalia looks like, I blended that in as well. I got particularly excited about the embellishments on Lê Dynasty clothes because I could give a little nod to Zuko's dragon-fire by adding more colours to the embroidery. In the future I think I'd want to make the Mongolian influence a bit more obvious... perhaps even push the envelope by incorporating some Bashkir designs, though I'm not sure how well that will go.

Avatar Zuko Au!
If Zuko is Sozin's son, what happened to Roku in the story?
Also, does that mean that the avatar before Zuko was Kyoshi, right?
Damn, that's a bad tempered mentor if you ever ask me.
Since Zuko is Sozin's... does that mean that Azulon, the father of Ozai and Iroh was his brother right?
Damn, his nephews are a lot older than him.
And his great-grandaughter is his age!
In canon, Aang died relative young for an avatar because he was stuck inside the icerberg and that affected badly his health...
Would the same happen to Zuko? (Considering Kyoishi lived like 400 years, that would HURT!)
Also...
I LOVE THIS COMIC!!
And I love you even more for doing it!!
Best wishes!!! ❤️
Thank you for the well wishes! 😊
I guess I can answer these questions since there are no current plans for updating the comic. So:
Roku was still Sozin’s best friend growing up, and when Zuko became old enough, Roku was his firebending master.
Yes, Kyoshi is Zuko’s predecessor. But I definitely don’t think she was ever a bad tempered person. Based off the books and all backstory information we have from the show/comics, she always tried to avoid fighting where possible but never shied away from it if necessary.
Yup, Azulon was Zuko’s brother in this AU.
For that last question: who knows. I’m guessing that’s from LoK and to be honest, I never finished the show.

Concept: Fire Lords traditionally dress like the stages of the sun to match their reign.
When Zuko is first crowned, he dresses in the colours of dawn. Bright yellows and pinks and even purples. He starts to wear more traditional crimson-and-gold robes after a few years, the colours of midday when Agni is at his strongest. And towards the end of his reign, when he's getting ready to pass the crown onto Izumi, he starts dressing like the setting sun.

Okay so we know that Sokka is notoriously cool under pressure, BUT we also know that sometimes if he’s the ONLY one in danger his brain cells reduce to zero (see: bitter work).
All I’m saying is if he was cornered by Zuko alone in close quarters, I think his single brain cell would activate and he’d kiss him. Zuko would so startled that he’d stop attacking and Sokka could get away.
The comedic potential and potential fallout of this is just too good

Currently amused by the idea that Aang is a delinquent. Forget punk or prep, he has tattoos, he's constantly destroying public property, he's encouraging kids to run away from home, he's homeless, he has no qualms about lying or stealing, has gotten into street fights, skips school, acts out in class, and he has canonically gone to jail and made friends with the criminals there.
Short of drug use, he is the textbox definition of a delinquent, he just hides it with how fucking cute he is.
