Mendelssohn: the profound respect he had for others

The way he’s so cordial with strangers and even the people he dislikes

Man always remembers his manners and acts cordial as his family has taught him

And on occasions, his bursts of excitement to the point of switching languages highlights his joy to see who his loves

Despite his disrespect and uncalled for criticism towards other composers, he still cares about his homeland

Even in his deathbed, he asked a soprano to sing the Polish national anthem

And he sent his siblings letters everyday when he was out of town

And through his ‘love’ letters to his friend, Tytus, you can tell he was passionate (;

“You don’t like being kissed. Please allow me to do so today. You have to pay for the dirty dream I had about you last night.” 👀 Chopin to Tytus — his ‘best friend’

We might never know if he actually meant it or if it was social etiquette back then, but the speculation is still there

Liszt: everything about him

this man truly was an underrated jewel in the classical word

He was generous to the point where he went broke from teaching music free of charge and holding charity concerts all the time

People from his and our time both misunderstand him for being a womaniser, but he was more than that

He never disrespected any female composers and even when he criticised by his contemporaries, he always kept his cool and even complimented some of them

When Chopin criticised him for playing his nocturnes the wrong anr demanded an apology, Liszt still continued to admire him

Tchaikovsky: his devotion and mellow kindness

He was sweet and shy. Unlike Chopin.

Having only a few close friends and a tightly-knit family, he was fiercely loyal and to whom he loved.

As a gay man in the conservative 19th century Russia, he could only seek solace with his closest friends — his sister being the closest.

When his sister passed, all he could was to dedicate the entire Nutcracker Ballet to her as a part of his self-expression died with her.

And she meant a lot to him. Not only a part of himself was buried, the fact he loved her so much despite his depression and dissatisfaction towards his life, showed how close he was to his family.

Recommended piece: Pas de Deux (it showed his lonely yearning for love in my interpretation; those whimsical melodies and how he missed both sisterly and romantic love)

Beethoven: man pulled 2015 pranks in the 19th century

Even though he scowled and raged throughout his life, he pulled pranks and laughed when his guests fell for it

He hid behind the door and scared his guests whenever they went through it

Laughing at their annoyed faces, he continued to turn annoyance to offence when he made his friends the butt of his jokes

To further gouge tears from his grumpy little face, he made more short songs solely as jokes about them

Besides being a hopeless romantic who made Fur Elise as a way to diss Elise, he wrote lyrics, “we all agree that you are the biggest ass” when joking about his violinist friend

Beethoven was either a great or absolutely horrible friend to have

Shostakovich: a genuinely good guy

Every lonely person’s wet dream

Showing up on time, being nice back to everyone who was nice to him alongside living life the normal way despite being a composer, he never raised any aggression tendencies like other composers (take notes Beethoven :/)

Love extended beyond family and friends. He threaded and worded his letters with kindness and manners, especially to those who asked him for advice

Even under his intense stress and anxiety during the Soviet Union’s surveillance, the man loved his family.

And that in itself was impressive.

Seungmin did not have the balls to ask you for a coffee. When he saw you walking out of the lecture, he tried to catch up but could not.

He hoped he would have a chance to talk to you in the Dean`s Ball in a few days. They were going to announce who was going to be valedictorian and he was hoping it was going to be you. He was perfectly fine being in second place if it means that you won.

So, he decided to wonder around the campus. He found himself in the music department building. He grabbed his coffee hanging around the building.

Noises of piano could be heard all over the building. He continued to wonder as he sipped his coffee and he took a look in one of the rooms, seeing his friend Chan in front of the piano almost having a meltdown. He knocked on the door and waved at him from the small window of the practice room. 

Chan ran to the door smiling and after chatting for a while, he found yourself in front of the piano. 

It has been years since he played but it almost was like riding a bike, came to him once you started. Playing your favourite piece by Chopin, Nocturnes, Op. 9: No. 1 in B-Flat major. His fingers almost playing the piano by itself. Not thinking about anything but just feeling the music and the notes. 

Thinking of your smile, the way you make him feel in peace even when you look at him. 

He did not need any notes for this piece. Knowing it by heart since he was 17. 

Although his father did not think he had any ``talent`` and it was just ``a hobby`` he felt notes in his veins. 

He almost did not feel anything but everything at the same time. 

When he finished the piece, he saw Chan looking at him weirdly. He raised his eyebrows and annoyingly said ``what? ``. 

Chan did not know his friend was this good with piano. He had no idea. But Seungmin could see the wheels in Chan`s head turning. He got up from the stool and walked to him, feeling almost vulnerable. He knew Chan was amazing at music and everything about it. He knew classical music, producing, writing, singing or rapping. He was good at all of it. 

He felt ashamed and out of place to tell him he was interested in music before. He thought just like his dad, Chan would also say he was not talented and Seungmin valued his opinions. Chan`s passion and talent was undeniable. Seungmin knew that he could not handle him saying he did not have talent and he should just keep his musical side as an interest, not as a career. 

Chan felt that something was wrong but did not want to ask directly. He placed his hand on Seungmin`s shoulder and gave him a huge smile. ``Dude you were amazing. If I ever knew you were this good, I would have taken some lessons from you. `` He laughed as he stretched. 

Seungmin was speechless to say the least, but he did not want to make the situation awkward, so he laughed as well. ``Thanks Chan hyung. I have been taking lessons since I was 6. ``

Chan was even more interested now, and he gave Seungmin a smile.  ``You know what, I need help with something, do you want to collaborate on a project with me? ``

Seungmin was speechless once again and nodded. 

After spending days in the library, you felt the need to take a break. Wondering around the library building and chain smoking. You felt stressed since the valedictorian will be announced shortly.

You were trying to sort out your applications for the universities for your master’s programme and talking about yourself was making you even more stressful. You know you must talk highly of yourself in those applications, but you were feeling much more stressed. 

As you were standing outside, you saw one of your friends Changbin. You knew him from the society you attended in your freshman year. It was to simply make friends, but you enjoyed hanging out with them occasionally. 

Changbin was minoring in music production, and you knew that he was very particular about his music choices. You chatted with him for a while and decided to ask him if he was interested in going to the Dean`s ball with you. You thought you were going to need a company if you lose the valedictorian position to Seungmin. Someone to keep you sane and probably stop you from having a meltdown. 

Changbin agreed to your request.

Seungmin spent days after days in the studio with Bang Chan. He wanted to see ``what could Seungmin do`` turned into making him sing for the first time after years. Bang Chan constantly praised him and giving him actual constructive comments made him feel better. 

Bang Chan was working on producing a song for his contemporary music class. The song he wrote called Venom was the perfect embodiment of that concept. 

The icky rhythm and the rap parts he made his other friends record made the whole thing amazing. Seungmin was singing the pre-chorus. The blend between the rhythm, rap parts and the parts he sang which were vocal based, created a perfect balance of imbalance.

Since he was classically trained in music, this project was different to anything he knew but he was enjoying in too much. 

He recorded back-up vocals, the pre-chorus and the chorus itself. Bang Chan used 8 people in the song, including Seungmin and himself. Seungmin does not remember feeling this good in years, except the time he kissed you. 

He wanted you to hear it, he didn`t know how but he felt the lyrics in his bones whilst he was singing it. Thinking about you. Wanting and needing you. 

When the day arrived for the Dean`s ball, Changbin asked you to meet at the studio places in the music department, since he was going to be there for a few hours, and it was closer to the building the ball was going to be held at. 

You agreed and got ready. You decided to wear something simple but elegant, so you choose a black dress, straightening your hair and to make it a bit more interesting, you decided to wear a red lipstick. 

You took your clutch and made your way to the department building. When you finally arrived, you gave Changbin a call to let him know you were there, and he told you to come to the studio. Since you had time to spare you agreed but a little annoyed that he didn`t even have the courtesy to walk you to the studio from the entrance. 

You made your way there and softly knock on the door since you didn`t know if they were recording or not. Changbin opened the door with a smile, and you smiled back at him and when he invited you in, you saw Seungmin. 

Kim Seungmin in a suit. The second you made eye contact; you felt your heart skipping a beat and made your way inside. 

He looked criminally good in a suit. The worst part was, he took his tie and jacket off, rolling the sleeves of his shirt to his elbows and his suspenders were visible.

He knew he looked good; you can understand it from the way he sits. 

This was going to be a long night.

Background: Oriiginally a sister-and-brother duo established in late 2002 in California, EXISTENCE FILTH remained dormant until their debut album, GEORGE BUSH'S DEATH DRONES, was released in September of 2004. The pair began work on another album, which, strangely, took them 13 years to finish and release. In the mean time, GEORGE BUSH'S DEATH DRONES had become a cult-classic online. Thus, on April 16, 2018, EXISTENCE FILTH released their second album to date.

The brother, bearing the psuedonym "SlvtFvck", recorded and wrote the majority of the songs on side A, whereas the sister, bearing the psuedonym "Malthus", worked on mastering side A and producing the majority of side B.

It is noted that while SlvtFvck's lyrical content is often far more overtly disturbing and shocking than Malthus', Malthus's lyrics built up far much more of the story being presented, and hid the darkest parts of it all behind implication and heavy suggestion.

Existence Filth's fanbase eventually became divided between those who disliked what they saw as blatant fetishistic displays, especially in tracks A4 and B3, and those who saw them as deliberate and unique artistic choices. The controversy made its way into the mainstream, leading to widespread derision by onlooking commentators and musical critics. The last track, in particular, became highly controversial and highly damaging for the band's overall reputation in the public eye.

My Headcannon about cores and animal-like ghost/non-human ghost in Danny phantom

So… before I forget it, I gotta write it down like… right now takes deep breath Hear me out As some may know, I absolutely hate with passion the B*tch Hateman take on ghost as "creatures of another dimension" because the same show showed the deaths of some characters like… PoinDexter- incident with bullying/suffocated to death in his own locker that now he hunts Cujo- When Axion labs no longer needed dogs to protect the place, they put down all the dogs, Cujo comes back from death looking for his chewing toy Desiree- heart broken after being exiled by the sultan who was her true love, being taken away from her greatest wishes she now grants everyone their most wanted wishes under a great prize Ember- the series didn´t openly said it but the lyrics of her song say she may have died in a fire after his boyfriend left her and she was chasing her dream of being a great artist so he and everyone can "remember her name", after her death with that mentality her only goal was to have world wide fame that would now give her power The problem comes when Butch tried to modify this in season 3 with him adding elementary powers and more monster-like ghost for him to say "monsters from another dimension"

But!!!, the fandom saves the day with the idea of… cores!! and ghost being all able to shapeshift

For anyone new around here basically cores are the main part of a ghost/soul inside of their chest that can have an elementary power besed of their personality/their death.So far I´ve seen Danny- ice core (because of his chill/brave/risk taking attitude) Danny- lighting core (because of his "death") Vlad- fire core/lighting core (because of his agressive/passionate nature and… yeah his "death")

So far it has been told only ghost with great power can have an elementary core, so it leaves with the question: why do not only halfas have this and we get ghost like Nocturne, Vortex, Undergrowth, The far Frozen and they absolutely look not human if I´m going with the "all ghost are death people"? My headcanon for this is… They used to be human beings but training their power over an element has modified their apearence to adapt to that element! Maybe this can even justify ghost puberty (another headcanon as an excuse for Danny getting fangs or why the hell Vlad looks like a freaking vampire) it would be their cores getting too powerful it starts to modify their body in two ways: Based on obssesion- it would make them look more like something related to their obssesion, like… I like to think for example we got: Vlad- his obssesion being his love for Maddie it would be interpreted as an unhealthy love because he wants to have her more as a trophy, why?, well in the series it has been seen he doesn´t care if she gets hurt by his actions like killing Jack (that would hur her really bad because they have shown to love each other), kidnaping/killing her children (with Jazz in Secret weapons, he was perfectly fine with the chance of having her to fight Danny but when she turned around he was willing to kill her with the nanobots, with Danny… the many times he has tried to kill him to "join" him), he only wants to have her, so I think his core interpretated it as him getting a prey to suck the life out of here more than a partner, so his ghost half would be a vampire.Based on training- this one is the one I mostly came up to, it would imply the ghost not getting focused on their original obsession but instead trying to improve their power they got, especally if they focus on their core, my headcanons with this one are: Undergrowth- He maybe once was an activist trying to protect nature, getting killed by a great coorporation in the process (maybe thats why he instantly took Sam as an apprendice/queen) when he died he at first didn´t wanted revenge because he died in a good cause, that´s when he noticed because for his love of nature he had got the power to make flowers and all kind of plant grow, happy of getting paradise in his own way he would turn his liar into a giant garden, gradually getting better at it with training until his liar turned into a jungle with even sentient plants that behaved like animals (as we saw in urban jungle) finally changing his body showing how he got total control of this power, but maybe getting too focused on his power and looking anyone in te ghost zone had an obsession similar to his, alone and finally thinking his liar was not enough he tries now to overtake other liars for his plants (his children), maybe having a fight with the far Frozen territory (maybe that´s why Frostbite knows about him), even trying his original obssesion protect plants and nature in earth (urban jungle). The far Frozen- unlike Undergrowth who would be like the only one of his kind, Ice cores would be quite common to get because of different reasons leading to… when a ghost with ice core is willing to train it´s power they would either… die (destabilize) from hypothermia (like how Danny almost did) or completly master it, leading to… their bodies would change into the appearence of the far Frozen (maybe that´s also why Frostbite says Danny is more similar to them than from what he thinks) and so, the ghost with trained ice cores can try and go to the Far Frozen territory to ask for guidence or join them (I totally think Danny would go through this if he decides to regularly train his powers as he did through the entire series)

We're finally going to post the ref sheets of the characters starting tomorrow! It's about time we share the SagaVerse equivalent of the characters you know of and A LOT more of our original characters! We're excited to show you what we've been cooking for the last few months so we hope you'll enjoy this batch of characters! ^^

Polish music - because it’s not only Chopin [LONG POST]

As it’s Polish Independence Day (11.11) and @redhatmeg​ came up with the idea of celebrating it by posting about Poland/Polish people, I decided to make a post about notable Polish composers, adding links to their most famous pieces.

- Stanisław Moniuszko (1819 - 1872)

Known as ‘the father of Polish national opera’, one of the best composers of Polish romanticism. His work is characterized by usage of Polish texts and inspiration from Polish folk. His most notable work include operas such as Halka, Straszny dwór and over 300 songs compiled in Śpiewnik Domowy.

- Maria Szymanowska (1789 - 1831)

One of the first female composers in European history. Wrote over 100 piano pieces, including polonaise and nocturnes, preceeding Chopin. Toured extensively through Europe, inspiring other artists (Beethoven, Cherubini and Goethe dedicated pieces to her). Her salon in St. Petersburg was visited by prominent musicians, writers and painters of her time.

Famous composer of the Young Poland period, exponent of Polish colourism. He was openly gay - one of his partner was a writer Jarosław Iwaszkiewicz, who wrote libretto to one of Szymanowski’s operas King Roger.

11. what do they have in common with you? how are they different? would you get along with them?

Beauwolf and I are share a responsibility/guilt complex, religious trauma/indoctrination (though I dealt with mine differently lol), Lust for Women (and the reluctance of accepting it). and a similar relationship to gender.

Crescent was an acutely teenaged expression of anger and bemoaned misunderstanding, and we both have a smug case of main character syndrome. The way she thinks, though much more impulsive and emotionally-driven, is rationalized exactly the way i would think (because--and I can't stress this enough--she was an OC I made when I was 13). The funniest thing about her story upon rereading it was how often she was hungry lmfao

19. are they quick to anger? what sets them off?

Beauwolf doesn't know how to express anger, it's an emotion that kind of silks between her fingers. Her devotion to a cause and her discipline are such mental blocks to anything that isn't "get from point A to point B", that externally, at least, she's extremely monotone and mellow (though not humorless). I think it's very hard to crack that armor--not because she's so levelheaded, or anything, but because she's actually hopeless. A doomed-from-the-start martyr. She has no passion for herself, and so she feels no need to defend her right to exist, and hence she is mystifyingly angerless. Does that make sense?

Crescent, on the other hand, is angry nearly 90% of the time. That was always how she was written, and always her main motivator. She is a gladiator in hell clawing her way out no matter the cost. This is because, unlike Beauwolf, she believes in her inherent importance. She knows she deserves better, and is enraged by the luck she's been dealt. Everything she does is somewhat backed by this kind of spiteful grudge. She's very quick to anger, and abrasive, though she's not always stupid about it, and it makes her fascinating to follow because most of her destiny is paved by the direct consequences to her actions.

Neither of them do lol. Beauwolf has nightmares; Crescent is always in survival mode, so she's a bit of an insomniac.

I’ve recently read a book that touches on the heart-mind/sun-moon/affection-reason theme and I could make some connections to Ichigo and Uryuu, as well as Jugram and Bazz-B. The theme was treated from a western pov and might have nothing to do with the eastern (and more specifically Japanese) pov on the theme that most likely served as inspiration for Kubo. I still thought it’d be interesting to discuss it.

Andrei Plesu (the author of the book „Despre inima si alte eseuri”, that roughly translates to „About the heart and other essays”) talks about the symmetrical analogies between the sun-the heart, the moon-the brain, and their associated types of knowledge or learning. 

It says that “...rational thinking is a lunar type of thinking, that, like the moon, it’s based on an exterior source. It’s indirect light, reflected, and cold.” This description reminded me of Uryuu (and quincy in general), who is overall the “brain” of the team, the rational guy, the smart guy that keeps his composure without being swept by feelings (heat) and comes up with plans, with strategies even in tight situations, he keeps his cool. He is seen as a more cold person, and even if I didn’t see it being voiced in the fandom as much, I think we can agree with Uryuu being associated with the moon/lunar vibes, just as Ichigo is associated with the sun. This despite having quincy already associated with the stars (a celestial body that emits light, like the sun!) (e.g sternritter = Star knight), and Ichigo with the moon (through his Getsuga Tenshou = Moon Fang Heaven Piercer). Plesu mentions the Goddess Athena, born from Zeus’s head(!), that has as symbol an owl, a nocturnal bird, a lunar symbol, making the connection with reason as a “reflection” (see light of the moon being indirect light/reflected, the saying to reflect on something as in to think about it). Plesu finds it surprising to our (I think he means us-westerners or romanians specifically) usual way of thinking to say that the reasoning we spontaneously associate with the light of the mind (this saying might not be part of the English language) is rather lunar, while the heart is rather solar. He does mention though that in other cultures the heart is the place, the organ of reason and not the head/brain.

Now for the sun-heart analogy and its solar/cardiac type of knowledge. It says that “there is a direct link between the sun and the heart, expressed through what is called the cardiac type of reasoning/knowledge, and it's like the light coming from the sun, coupled with a significant coefficient of heat. The knowledge or reasoning of the heart is light + heat.” It talks about the representation of this concept in old European sculpture, where the heart appears as a solar center, from which 2 types of rays may come from, alone or together. When from the heart come straight lines, it focuses on the “light” aspect of the heart, and when they are wavy, it focuses on the aspect of “heat”. “The wisdom gathered through reasoning of the heart is a mix of light and heat, as opposed to strictly intellectual truths, which are light devoid of heat, devoid of pure affections, which are heat without light, meaning the “blind” love”. It also says that after XVII, the heart appears represented only with the wavy rays, the connection with the light weakening, and „the falling of the intellect to the level of reasoning and the heart falling to the level of passion marks the beginning of modernity” but I digress… As I am close to sharing some final quotes on the cardiac type of reasoning, I wanna bring Ichigo to the table, because the way the author describes the cardiac type of knowledge reminds me of the type of intelligence Ichigo uses in battle, and in general as well. The cardiac knowledge or reasoning is described close to a spontaneous reaction, a reply, a sort of tropism initiated by the epiphany of reality. It is similar to intuitive thinking or taste judgment. A type of unifying intelligence where intelligence, emotion and the act itself coincide (he mentions the animal way of thinking, as a virtue and not at all in a degrading way. May I remind you of Hichigo and his horse-king analogy during his talk about instinct). I will share Plesu's example for better understanding. “When you see an object, you don’t think too much to establish if you like it or not. You simply like it or not from the first moment. Only after you start to elaborate, to find explanation, arguments, to build a plausible motive for your option. But the option itself is of the non-reflective adhesion type.”. The cardiac type of thinking is totalising, it takes place inside the world, with the heart you think and know as part of the world, and not as a detached observer, outside of the world. As I said, Ichigo is usually associated with the sun, and he is known as a more heated (hot-blooded) type of guy. He does use the other type of thinking as well, it is suggested sometimes that he tries too hard to rely on the logic, the geometric, the lunar type of thinking but during battles it is a disadvantage (Hichigo berated him for it and said to use instinct. I wouldn’t rush to put the “=” between instinct and cardiac thinking but essentially Hichigo guided him to his natural, and more stronger type of reasoning, which is the solar/cardiac type). During battle, Ichigo gets to know his opponents, to understand their motives, by observing them, by interacting with them. He explained it himself during a battle where he couldn't understand where his opponent was coming from (as in motivation) (I forgot the exact scene, maybe someone can help here). His gathering of information and processing, his thinking is reactionary, in the moment, as part of the world, visual - Aka cardiac/solar type. Uryuu however is cold-thinker, plans strategies in advance, takes the position of an outside observer - aka lunar type.

Since I mentioned the visual aspect for the solar/cardiac type, there is one more interesting theme, that of the heart that sees, present in various cultures and religions. "The heart knows by seeing. … The cognitive dimension of sight is confirmed by the fact that is the sense through which, for e.g.  angels access knowledge. Angels don't need to develop vast reasoning, to use complicated paths of logic to reach the truth. Angels know by watching/seeing. They see and understand. This is how the heart knows too: at once.". It is worth to specify that this implies that when the heart, like angels, sees it is also seen. "In the cardiac knowledge takes place an identification of the one that sees with the one that is seen, there is an overflowing of these 2 terms in the other." And when the heart is unclean, the vision is obscured. - what I was saying about Ichigo getting to know his opponent in battles. 

To sum it up we have the reason- the spirit of geometry, logic, discursive thinking, lunar type of reasoning - Uryuu Ishida. And on the other side the heart- spirit of fine nuances, intuitive thinking, solar/cardiac type of reasoning - Ichigo Kurosaki. It could be applied to other characters as well, of course, but I like that with these 2, it is clear that these are their main type of thinking and have the other type inserted as well. Uryu can get quite heated and have emotions lead his behavior/decisions while Ichigo sometimes overthinks or wants to use lunar type of thinking when his natural solar type would be of more use. It is worth noting that while they can use both types, using the one that is not their main/natural type is kinda like swimming against the current. 

Special mention of this for Jugram Haschwalth - lunar type and Bazz B -solar type. Thinking about how, like Ichigo and his opponents, Bazz could only settle things through a fight, and not a talk.  For 2 must lay their heart open on the battlefield to get to know the other, the truth, to communicate, for the information to flow between the one that sees and the one that is seen by the heart. It takes the heart to be present, involved, for a communication to take place, otherwise it is just empty talk, sterile words or silence (Jugram refusing to answer). It takes a heart to make a real move in a fight, otherwise it is just an empty clash of metal and/or flesh (Jugram refusing to respond to Bazz's attacks, but during his swift sword movements in their fight, I think his heart would at least briefly come in and out, it would be enough to transmit the true face of its bearer.)

excerpt from a passage i wrote a while ago about minuet reflecting on her childhood! im not super fond of the tone of this so i definitely need to rework it, but here it is for now!

and a couple of little notes on her tattoos

so the nocturne (minuet and scherzo) were created as part of an elaborate courtship ritual - scherzo (a flirtatious, light dance) fashioned in dawns likeness to impress him, and minuet (a stately, more intimate ballroom piece) formed from an ember astray to entertain night. part of the reason why night dotes on scherzo so much is because of the nocturne - he misses dawn, the mouthfeel of him - but dawn, who ends up completely horrified by the others' actions, sees the nocturne as this huge symbol of everything that is wrong with the world and himself. 

im still figuring out the exact timeline but in perihelion + daybreak, minuets birth coincides with when dawns empire is demolished. she of course does not directly do this, but her destructive nature and status as catalyst of the end leads to her being labelled a bad omen, a sour hearth, etc. 

in reality this is because these gods are more or less forbidden to create (energy and matter are supposed to be conserved, not created or destroyed) but their  choosing to do so anyway dooms them all either way, minuet gets most of the flack for it and is repeatedly scorned for it and convinced of her own hazard. 

after dawn leaves the sect, he really struggles to engage with her - because she is a symbol of his past self, the doveheart despot, yes, but because he is aware that he's failed her as a father and he just does not know how to rectify that at all. dawn did not make minuet into what she is - but he discarded her, and watched idly as the world transformed her, as it transformed him. 

the most he can bring himself to do is impart upon her the same ideals he himself employs: resurrection via flame, as does the phoenix - as he does himself to cleanse his body and soul before retreating to the human world. this is why minuet is so careless for her life - she knows she is going to burn up and die a fiery death, and then she will be new and clean and fresh. may as well get her hands dirty now, while she can. as a result, minuet is an adrenalin junkie and a thrillseeker whose extreme hedonistic tendencies intermingle w passive suicidal ideation and also the glorification of suicide! think of dawn's seeded cult - cockhead and the dire doctrine of the aphelion vulture, and how passionately they glorify death. they worship the end! - in ofluxes Eden, this translates not as the cosmic cataclysm, but ego death and dissolution of the self. this was dawns work, as is minuet, who has an identity, yeah, but has been so weathered down by prophecy and function that she:

a) unwittingly perpetuates the cycle of abuse in interaction with her sister ("how dare you fucking complain! how dare you stand there and fucking act like you're suffering, like you dont want this life, this face, you were given." and then yunque goes "sorry being a pawn my whole miserable rotting un-life fills me with contempt!! bitch!" and then minuet explodes with the ol' AND YOU THINK I DONT KNOW WHAT ITS LIKE TO BE A PAWN OF MY FUCKING FATHER - not ours, but mine, because minuet is dawns only trueborn child and thus raised uniquely) and 

b) transforms herself into an Atlas, bearer of all burdens, saviour of her loved ones, just to feel good - to feel like shes capable of doing good. minuet is so angry and the anger will live in her forever!

and in the end:

dawn did that to her. minuet will forever be the protector, cursed by her fathers love, her fathers creating touch, always fighting to prove that shes worthy. dawn did that to her. minuet will always be reaching for something unattainable - to simultaneously fulfil her function and do something good with herself. 

dawn did that to her. 

minuet is dawns only daughter that he actually sat down and created and he infected her with his relentless yearning and his chronic discontent and his endless bleached ennui. (one of the images associated w dawn being a lush wildflower field - bordering a bone -white, barren beach) and, of course, he let courtesans and nobility and soothsayers carve maledictions and curses into minuet's flesh (her tattoos) to temper her 'purpose' - when he was the one who gave her all of that to carry. as a result, when jeunzi becomes aware of sublimes existence and goes to dawns last temple - she begs for his help. 

and dawn, knowing that sublimes been imprisoned for a reason, knowing that everything will go wrong Again Anyways, gives her a flaming knife with minuets prophecy engraved into it. so when jeunzi cuts sublime free with the knife, sublime will recognise it, and he will thank minuet - something that will benefit her centuries into the future when the sons of night start quarrelling again see, he does this to try help her build alliances because he knows shes more of a lone wolf type - but even that is just another burden for her to shoulder, another thing to fulfil. dawn does love her. hes learnt to, and he didnt love her for a long, long time. 

but he knows what he's done to his child more than any of the others because he alone broke the cycle of divinity. he knows the enormity of the consequences, from a very human perspective but he just . 

he just cant apologize. he just cant reach out to her. shes nothing but his eldest daughter. his greatest failure and most violent triumph.
