The problem with BOTW is that it's obnoxiously popular in the LOZ fandom to the detriment of other games but also unfortunately it's genuinely really really fun to write fanfic for.

i got back into totk and although i firmly stand by my 'it could've been better' thta most definitely doesn't make it a boring game
#i was planning to fight ganon bc i've had the final showdown quest unlocked for a while now but have not touched it#but i wanted to fight the king gleeok first so i went to go that except i got lost and realized how little battery thingies i actually hv#so i was like 'that won't do!' and went to go get mine zonaite#and one thing led to another and suddenly it's 3 in the morning and i STILL haven't fought ganon#you can get so easily side tracked in totk it's just a lot of fun#after fighting the king gleeok + malice sand boss in depths i realized i very badly needed weaposn bc everything i had was breaking at that#point 😭#i spent an entire hour looking for a gerudo scimitar for urbosas sword. at least 15 of those minutes i was running around with the sensor l#oking for it before realizing that it beeps on npcs with it#and then i just fawking gave up#then i went to rito village to try & get revalis bow but couldn't find a swallow bow so i quickly gave up after learning my lesson with th#scimitar and just wandered around the outskirts before finding some sky islands i hadn't vitsited yet above the village ^^#& then i think i fought the lynels for majoras mask which got me a shit ton of stuff#<- but it was also a pain in the ass bc i literally forgot to fuse shit together prior to entering & so i was scrambling to fuse things#together inbetween lynel fights 😭#i ended up beating them but i had like 4 hearts bc everything else was gloomified bc my dumbass also always forgets to cook up#gloom repelling food#<- plus i am also trying to save my sundelions to upgrade the champions tunic#hv i told u guys that i drew the master sword & then realized I didn't hv a tracker on zelda anymore so i couldn't just find her whenever i#needed materials from her so i went back to my save before i got the sword so i could keep tracking her lol#i then put off pulling the sword forever . i hv it now but it took me a while

The merging of the two Hyrules is a fantastic idea because it solves so many problems for both.
Like Tia's Hyrule has already gone through TotK so while they have Light Shrines, Sweetpea already used them up. But maybe some things start looking different, ruins are more numerous, Shrines reactivate (which Sweetpea kinda gets annoyed about because 152 SHRINES! HE DID THEM ALL! HE HAS THE OUTFIT TO PROVE IT!), some people start getting their counterparts' memories. Temples start causing problems again. Flickers of Gloom reappear.
So over the course of this whole kerfuffle, the two Hyrules are merging partially due to Ganon, partially due to the Big Three essentially writing off Sage's Hyrule as a failure and this is the alternative to just... wiping it out of existence.
(Also the idea of Tia's Hyrule just rolling up at the Final Battle being like "How many times do we have to teach you this lesson, Old Man?!" is hilarious to me)
Meanwhile, Sage's Hyrule gets what's essentially a reality check that puts everything into perspective. Like they were so starved for hope and stability that they just latched onto the closest thing which was Natura which just conflated everything. Then they are shown a Hyrule where things were better. Not just because of the different Princess but because Hyrule gave itself hope. They pushed themselves to protect themselves and each other. They were kinder to each other and that made all the difference.
I think people who were similar enough to their counterparts (like Cece, Beedle, Koko etc) got merged together and now have two sets of memories while people who were too different (Sweetpea and Sage) or were dead in one Hyrule and aren't in the other (The Champions) or didn't exist (Aaliyah) are still separate people.
Natura would be saved but she gets put on house arrest in the castle to make sure she doesn't start a rebellion (or is the figurehead of one) before being put into Urbosa's custody. Tia doesn't like Natura but she knows it wouldn't be healthy for her to be so close to a so-called 'better' version of herself. Natura becomes a princess only in name while Tia becomes the Queen.
Thunderhead Islands is where the merging starts to happen so everyone is getting rightfully concerned about the implications of what is going on when Sweetpea and Aaliyah are effecting the reality of Tia and Sage's location.
I can't explain how excited I get to see you in my inbox :)
I imagine after they combine the shrines like...reboot in a way? Like, surprise! Now you have to do them all over again! Good news! There are now two more people who can help you out! Bad news! There are now 152 shrines to re-find!
Ruins are certainly popping up more, but there are also a lot more flourishing! New fauna and animals are popping up that were once thought to be extinct. It's like going forward four steps only to jump back thirteen miles. Rito is freezing over once more, the marbled rock roasts are back, the Zora domain is polluted and even the Gerudo are having trouble again (I haven't finished that temple yet ;-;) Sage and Aaliyah even start getting sick again.
Which sucks because not only are they dealing with the switch, but they're dealing with Ganon and now this whole merging business. People are reporting two sets of memories, those thought dead are no longer dead, etc. etc.
The big three just writing off Sage's Hyrule is both so heartbreaking and so in character for them. If they don't like something, they just...get rid of it.
(No bc that is so funny. They're just ready to rumble and Aaliyah's own hyrule is just 'I'm sorry we have to what now?')
Natura definitely was only a symbol of hope because that was the only one they had. The champions had been picked off, one by one, the hero had been downed, she was all they had left. When offered a different alternative, they're probably a bit resistant. However, it doesn't last long since Tia's own Hryule is just >:( We ain't doing that.
Those who were prominent enough people in the journeys were probably just merged, and like you said, now have two sets of memories. Unless of course they had two incredibly different scenarios. Like Sage and Sweetpea. Or if they never existed at all. Imagine half of Hyrule is just 'Who's the Sheikah Champion?' and the other half is "How tf do you not know? Her and Link are attached at the hip."
Natura is the only bit I cannot quite place. But I like the idea of putting her on house arrest. Because if we go with the idea that she's attached to this throne that people have given her, even if her real throne has fallen. Her starting a rebellion is probably not out of the frame as some people still blame the champions. And how can they trust their own memories when their standing right there? The only thing that's remained the same is Natura. SO that's the only reason I can see people following her until she's placed with Urbosa.
Thunderhead Islands being the starting place of this all is perfect because I can only imagine a Secret stone has that kind of power. So when Aaliyah takes up her own, it reflects her own desires and wants. And her biggest want is to see Sage again. Hence the starting of the merge.
It only worsens the worry when people start being like 'Weren't you just here?" and Sage is like 'wtf do you mean?' and they're all 'You and the Sheikah Champion were just here?"
Tipping them off to the merging.

My comment about Gaondorf's skin tone was actually more directed at previous iterations, I just added Totk-ver as the "extreme outlier" that's why I said they went extreme in his case, aka "Idk why they did that for this one, bc they really just burnt the bathwater."
Additionally, Riju and Urbosa have nothing to do with this, while they're key players, they're not Ganondorf. Same can be said about Naboru and the other Gerudo, they're just "not Ganondorf" but you could mention Koume and Kotake. Ya know? Like there's no need for anything major to stick out on them, because they're just on the supporting cast list. Ganondorf is supposed to stick out from the crowd, in a clearly apparent "evil" way. That's why I theorised they choose the green undertone against the red, because of the implications, and the nature of complimentary colours.
Side thoughts: For Totk Ganondorf, the reason for the green skin could have been that they really wanted to hammer home the Oni comparisons, which could actually make a lot of sense in this case. Oni with bright red hair and blue skin isn't a rare sight, and Ganon was originally blue with red, combined with the tusks. But blue and red, as already said, might look too cool, and not combine well. Not to mention that blue is Link's colour in Totk and Botw. Since he was already known as more green leaning, they decide to go full green, and just make this the biggest "foreshadow" to his final Demonic (Oni) form. Ganondorf basically goes through two Oni forms: "Blue" and Black. If I remember my etymology right, Japanese didn't distinguish between blue and green way back in time, so a character representing an oni, or ogre, being either blue or green probably still is accurate enough in that case. Like, there's so much of Totk-Ganondorf that kinda builds towards Oni even before his transmutation, when looking back at the finished "product."
I apologize for answering this a bit later, but I think I may have not been very clear in my first post. I understand why they used the green skin. Green skin and dark skin in general is often used to distinguish the "villain", not only in Japanese media but in other media in general. Is it always used? No, but it often a color reserved for characters that don't fall on the"good" side of the moral spectrum because people associate green skin with "evil", as you mention in the case of TotK Ganondorf. Nintendo is no stranger to understanding that some elements they have included in the past could be seen as offensive, and had them removed as a result. For example, the original emblem of the Gerudo was the moon and stars, and they had that replaced. Hyrule was once represented by crosses, and they also phased that out. Ganondorf always had a green undertone to his skin, but it blended in enough with natural skin darker skin tones that it was not the prominent feature of his skin. My point; Nintendo is not a small company that has no idea on how to check on sensitivity issues given that they are selling their product to an international audience. My argument against the whole complimentary color is that, in my opinion, it isn't necessary. When people speak of Ganondorf in terms of his evil, it's because of his sense of entitlement, the way he treats others, his methods of rule which involve deploying legions of monsters to destroy and crush anyone who opposes him. Him being green is just..there. Ask yourself; if he was not green, if he was the same color as the rest of the Gerudo, would it make him any less evil? Would it make it more difficult for you to distinguish? Is it that thematically important? Is green really the only way to make your character stand out?
For me, knowing all the real life negative associations and stereotypes that come with making your villain, who is already coded with orientalist and anti-semitic stereotypes, green feels like they are takin a step back on something that has little effect on the perception of the character's villainy while being hurtful to those that are affected by such stereotypes. It's interesting that you mention that Riju and Urbosa are not important because they're not key players, but then also mention that I didn't mention Koume and Kotake who are about as non key players as Riju and Urbosa. Yet, their skin tone is also green tinged to denote their "evilness" which again, to me, is not necessary and shows that the use of green skin is not being deployed only for the purpose of showcasing the main character :)

I'll say something controversial: I feel like almost nobody cares about any weird shit with Yona/Sidon bc they're a straight-couple. I've been in the LoZ fandom for some time, and the amount of double standards for shipping are really just depressing. Mainly looking at Botw/Totk bc of the bigger amount of folks into it: M/F? Yeah do whatever, doesn't matter. If you dare claim that some point of proof isn't that clear cut tho? Fuck you! You're just huffing copium!! F/F mostly porn, but literally no one cares. Doesn't matter if what their relations are? Urbosa/Zelda? Sure they're like aunt and niece in the game, but now they fucking, we don't care! M/M "How dare you men can just be friends you weirdo." "Haha, fujoshi's just can't handle their precious ships being destroyed." Etc etc... Idk, just THE DOUBLE STANDARD.
See, I didn't want to answer this ask because I was hoping that the backlash against M/M ships in Western TotK fandom was dying down.
Although, when I say that, I should just specify 'against SidLink' because I've been seeing tons of Ganon/Rauru content or Tauro/Link content and no one has beef.
But, once again, a SidLink artist who has been posting their comic recontextualizing Sidon's marriage with Yona -- not even dismissing her character, merely showing how she would be supportive with Sidon 'having so much love in his heart to share' -- has been showing the pages of Instagram comments they've been getting about 'lol, cope harder', 'fujos just want everyone to be gay', 'so you we're hating women?'
Honestly, it reminds me of that window of time back in the MLP: FiM heyday where Equestria Daily was posting fics with every ship variable of the Mane Six or other female characters possible... But the moment they had a fic spotlight for an M/M fic (iirc it was for Big Mac and Caramel aka Horseshoes) there were a bunch of comments going 'Ugh, why are we posting gay fanfic now?'

LoZ BotW Wrap Up
Sadly this marks the last post of the original play-through, and I'm unlikely to pick it up from this point 4 years later [at least not until I'm actually able to let's play games like I'd prefer]. Which is kind of a shame tho bc like a fool, this means me saving the best for last never actually happened. Because the Gerudo man!!!
I remember I had a lot of thoughts on the Gerudo, because I always do LOL I am always intrigued by their role in the story just for the fact alone that Ganon is from this race and they often are in vastly different situations in each game because of it. Like in OoT they're at war with Hyrule bc of Ganon, but there are some who arent cool with that. In TP it's strongly implied Selma is descended from the Gerudo, but otherwise they seem to have been wiped out. Same for WW, where theres really no hint of them at all.
In BotW though they are flourishing really, and well aware of Ganons origins from them. Urbosa makes a point that he's their responsibility, and that she takes pleasure in helping to rid the world of him. So I have to think since they have good relations with others, that the Gerudo of this game hold no love for Ganon and had to work past that stigma. Its also interesting that [to my memory] they dont seem to have had a male Gerudo of significance since. Perhaps because of Ganon they haven't been observing the whole "that one male every 100 years gets to be king" thing? But the possibility of it certainly is still a thing, since you can buy male clothes for gerudo, albeit in secret
No I'm not going to talk about the gender and the cross dressing thing bc uuuuhhhh you know why =_=;;; I'm sure theres essays about it, I remember a lot of discussion about it at the time.
However I am interested in talking about those 8 matron deities the Gerudo here have??!!?! I love this! I am so fascinated by this and want to know more! It appears to be the only mention of any other religion outside Hylia to my memory. And one of them is even forsaken?? In the mountains??? What happened with that??!! I dearly hope that it might be something expanded on in TotK, but I may be asking for a lot lol
Side note also, I adore Riju, she's so cute and is carrying so much on those shoulders and the hat doesn't even fit on her head yet lmaooo
Extra side note, I actually really loved in the final memory viewing, that tiny hint that Fi is still there in the sword.
I did also get the Champion DLC, and while that first trial bit sucked ass, I did like the little memory additions we got for the Champions and the options to learn more about them in their diaries!
Except for Ravioli. That guy continues to suck
Also like.....Urbosa and Zelda's mom were so a thing. Like, the lesbian undertones are practically overtones LOL
I have no idea when I will play TotK, as atm the purchase of it isnt even on my mind right now [grad school be suckin my wallet dry atm] but one day I will get it and probably post about it, if not LP it by then lol
Overall I loved BotW though, it was a fun game to play and a very interesting take on Zelda. Its honestly the one that feels closest to the OG, which I think was the idea lol I'm interested to see how the series will move forward
DISCLAIMER: AGAIN, I HAVE NOT PLAYED LOZ TOTK YET, DO NOT SPOIL ME PLEASE. ALL QUESTIONS AND POSTULATIONS ARE HYPOTHETICAL AND DO NOT REQUIRE ANSWERS!!!

Anyways idk if anyone cares but beloved mutuals here are my thoughts on botw:
it was fun and a really nice game and I managed to complete it even if I suck at videogames so like. Gameplay wise I can't say anything about it except maybe that I keep forgetting which button does what but tbh that might just be me being stupid again❤ OH another gameplay thing I didn't like was my horsie being in danger. Stay away from her get a job!!!!!! Also all the times I got stuck in rivers and ravines and such and had to reload a previous save file bc I felt bad teleporting and leaving my horse down there :/
Plot wise I think I really liked the beginning of the game the most, it's still good as it progresses but I kept asking myself some questions that maybe are just really stupid and/or I just missed the answer to it but like. Yeah. 1. how the fuck did all the champions die against ganon? I can understand mipha bc she's a healer but urbosa??? Daruk who should be unkillable with his shield? Like girl I get link is special but this doesn't add up to me :/ 2. Why did zelda's powers never manifest before? 3. Where the hell did zelda grab that horsie from (during the final battle) like that is NOT one of my horsies
But yeah I'm still playing it and doing some side quests rn so maybe this^ will change
Also I guess I didn't really like how calamity ganon doesn't say anything like he's just there like. What is going on with him.......... I haven't played totk yet so I hope there's more about ganon in there but I'm a little sad about this for now (sidenote I did NOT think his battle was underwhelming GIRL it was annoying enough already having to wait for daruk's power to recharge bc I ran out shields and I still had to deflect that laser to kill him like. Do not add anything else. please. ❤❤)
Now for the open world, I really like open worlds in theory bc I love exploring but this place seems so empty? There are so many areas where it's just grass and like. Girl not even a pebble? Some fruit to grab? Girl? Also there should have been more recipes to cook they need to let me make scaloppine please please please you're nothing
But yeah it was fun and I kept dying in stupid ways and I can't wait to play the sequel!!!! I miss midna tho
Complimentary pic of my kitty yawning to thank you for reading my thoughts:

Revali and Teba relationship in Age of Calamity. TW: rant & analysis
(and possibly bad English, sorry guys)
It’s been more than a week since Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity was announced.
I’ve been complaining a lot about the plot choices, the clichés, the character development (*cough* KOHGA SUDDENDLY JOINING THE GOOD ONES despite all the 10k years hating the Royal family and worshipping Ganon but heh they wanted do make him a playable character, so I think that’s it), the fact that Link is even more stoic and unemotional than ever (in BotW he had his own reasons to be like that), the villain with no story, Terrako being unnecessary OP, and REVALI.
As you all know Revali’s not quite the typical nice and kind character you would expect (plus he’s a Champions and all the others are friendly and caring towards Link and the princess so him being not nice is something that caught us off guard). But if you like and know his motives you’ll understand that he’s not mean just for the sake of being mean in BotW. He had redeeming qualities, and I don’t even like calling them redeeming qualities because he wasn’t a villain, nor a bad person. His last chat with Link as a spirit made it clear enough that he now acknowledges Link as a real hero; “the real key of them all”. (I’m not talking about the different translation from the Japanese to the English one, I’ve made another post about it so if you’re curious to know what I’m talking about go check it!)
When I first encountered Revali I never thought he was a jerk. Instead, I found him hilarious and very charming. His attitude and cockiness towards Link was funny and refreshing. At last one character that simply didn’t accept Link but wanted him to show his true potential in con act, not just because he was the chosen one of an ancient story of a sword and a hero. But I can understand that some people don’t like the surface of his character. He is quite arrogant and proud, that is true. But again: this is just his character! Botw left us with this sad yet beautiful memory of him humbled at the end and it was just perfect.
But then they gave us a DLC (The Champion’s Ballad) in which we were able to see few but still new aspects from the champions.
We got to learn Daruk’s not 100 % brave as he wanted to seem bc he’s afraid of dogs. We got to learn Mipha is not only a little Zora who’s in love with Link, but a caring pricess and sister. We got to learn Urbosa is not 100 % severe and tough, she deeply cares for Zelda and everyone’s safety. She’s got that sass which I love personally.
And then, we got to learn something that honestly I would’ve never expected: Revali being vulnerable. And I’m not just talking about the Champions’ recruitment memory, I’m also talking about all you got to learn by his diary, the hidden dialogues. I mean, they are real. The writers decided to give more depth to his character. If BotW developers would’ve just wanted Revali to be a jerk, they wouldn’t have added these details.
We got to learn that he DEEPLY cares and fears for his people. He wanted to be the best so that his people would recognize and remember him. He opened the Flight Range because he wanted to nurture the next gen of warriors and then trained also the little ones.
There’s no one left who would even know me. But even so, it will always be my home.
It almost brought me into tears because I didn’t expect him to care so much about it. If he was so sure to be the best then he would’ve just said something like “I’m sure everyone’s still remembering me, I am the greatest afterall”.
So when I found out the Champions’ descendants were also present in Age of Calamity I couldn’t wait to see how Teba and Revali would’ve acted together.
And, to my biggest disappointment, the writers messed it up. They even messed THIS up. I had begrudgingly accepted his unjustified hate towards Link because... it’s Link? I had begrudgingly accepted that he was rude to Daruk.
At least I thought ‘well, maybe with Teba they will make him behave nicely’. And I mean, they did. Revali’s nice with Teba but... idk all I got to learn was that Teba respects Revali (more of a simplord-kind of respect) and Revali absorbs the compliments and just... goes ‘mhpf ’.
Then when Link enters Medoh to help them, Revali acted in his ‘well I didn’t need your help’ way. What left me shocked is how Teba reacted.
‘I didn’t know the Champion would be so...’ (Which many think he was about to say short but he was indeed talking about his personality. In Italian he says something like ‘I would’ve not expected it (this personality trait) from the Champion’
This left me puzzled. Why would Teba care about how Revali treated Link? And apart from that, he basically said ‘thank you’ to Link. So why would Teba notice this? Just to make the player feel more hate towards Revali? As if ‘eheh now finally Teba realized his childhood hero is a jerk how does it feel?? never meet your heroes!!!’
And then, in Medoh, this happens:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay I admit: I’m impressed by this translation because in the Italian one he only says: ‘Hm, good to know. At least it was good for something. But no one will match my skill even in 100 years’.
Which I’ve found... weird??? I mean the line isn’t dubbed so I suppose it was said in a sarcastic tone, but... still weird? Idk I would’ve expected something else since he cared so much about his people using his Flight Range. He should be proud but... he talks about his skill??? Right now??? What the heck?
Heh... But again... writing.
Then this also happens:
Tumblr media
And what made me furious is that we got NO ANSWER by Revali! C’mon! That was all he cared about, that people will recognize him. And you let Teba saying something like that without a single reaction from Revali?! Are you freaking kidding me? He basically said ‘When I come home I’ll tell everybody about you’. MAN WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU? I mean come on! I expected at least a chuckle, anything!
And at the end…
Tumblr media
Okay I’m gonna be honest, I almost cried. But I stopped when I heard that stupid and boring answer from Revali after what Teba had said.
“Hm.”
WHAT? WHAT THE F IS ‘HM’. I MEAN NOT ONLY YOU’VE MET A RITO FROM THE FUTURE WHO LOVES YOU, WHO HELPED YOU AND... YOU ONLY SAY THAT? Are you kidding me? Plus I hate we never got to see his face. Is he smiling to Teba? Is he even grateful? Is that ‘hm’ a nod? WHAT THE HELL. I HATE YOU KOEI TECMO.
Oh, yeah. I forgot. I’m playing Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity. Yeah. Nice gameplay and everything but no. I just pretend all of that never happened.
So in the end: Koei Tecmo just didn’t give a sht about chatacters, I got it. It’s just that they massacred my boy and I’m so upset 😭

How does Yiga Link get along with Zelda and the Champions?
OH BOY!
this is gonna get a little long:
At first, he doesn't get along with any of them. He meets Mipha and Daruk just before Zelda goes to recuit them as champions, and they end up linking Link and he likes them (tho he is in denial, mostly bc he doesn't know his new life, where he fits and where he belongs)
He doesn't meet Urbosa or Revali before them being champions, whe he does he doesn't like them, because the existance of Champions meant a bigger chance of Ganon to be defeated.
And speaking of chances of Ganon's defeat, he HATES Zelda. he even tried to kill her once, in hopes that it would give him a way back to the yiga, but at the end he knows it wont work and lets her go.
Zelda gives him another chance and welcomes him with the champions. Link doesn't want that place, but he didn't really had another choice if he wanted to live.
Litte by little he starts to change his mind of the champions, Zelda, and her sheika friends. he starts to genuinely like them, and they like him too.
With Mipha I'm not going to explain much bc soon I'm gonna post her first encounter with Link, and that sets off their friendship.
With Daruk I still have some things to think about, but they do like each other and he and Mipha are the first friends he makes after the Master Sword incident.
With Urbosa, things starts rocky, she doesnt trust him (specially since he kidnapped and tried to kill Zelda), and he doesn't like her that much either, he had already raided some of gerudo towns and had first hand fight with her, tho she doesn't know it was him (unless 👀). But as he warms up with the others and Zelda, she starts to give him a chance and they end up getting along, enough for her to leave Zelda under his protection a few times and encouraging him to be the Hylian Champion and Zelda's guard.
Things with Revali are hard. Revali thinks he has the rle as Champions bc he just happened to pick up the sword and doesnt think there is more to Link than that. One time Revali tells him that HE had to train his whole life to earn his place, that HE wasn't handed his position and Link loses it. He is quite the quiet person, but he snaps and goes off telling him that he had a huge disadvantage along yiga being hylian and still he trained, studied, and practiced to be the best and earn the place he had always wanted, a place that he DID earned but was stripped off him the moment the made glow that stupid sword. That shuts up Revali. Latter on they have a more calm conversation (still filled with some resentiment from both parts) but after that, little by little they start to get along to the point of being friends. (thing that Link completely forgets after he wakes up and thinks Revali had always hate him:)
With Zelda things are a rollercoster
At first she tries to be nice with him to get him to join their side. He is quite the jerk with everyone, even when he is alredy working with the rest of the champions so she loses her shit from time to time with him. It doesnt help the fact that he finds it funny.
After some time has passed and Link gets more soft with his new friends, his relationship with Zelda goes more friendly, he's still a little salty about everything but he knows when to stop and actually stops when he's bothering someone on porpouse. Zelda starts to find it quite amusing, even when he it goes towards her.
This may be the time when Zelda starts to fall for link, she doesn't admit it, but Purah and Impa know, even Robie and Urbosa. They make constant jokes about if, sprecialy Purah and Impa.
Then link betrays everyone to get back with the yiga and breaks Zelda's heart.
Link realizes he's on the wrong side of the fight and goes back with the champions, this time fully accepting his role as Hero and as Hylian Champion. He apologizes to everyone, specially Zelda and she quickly forgives him. She is happy he is back with them.
From here on, their friendship just goes stronger. Zelda admits to herself that she does like link. Link starts to see something on Zelda and starts to fall for her. Zelda wants link to be his guard (lot of people are not sure of that idea), link starts to like that idea and starts to get formal training. Zelda starts to see how good he is on his role.
Link turns into Zelda's royal guard and both are happy with it, but zelda starts to grow apart, intimidated and jelous of Link's skills. She starts to get mad that he follows her everywhere, link's confused and gets mad too, but he now follows his duty troughly, both bc of a new sence of porpouse and to piss Zelda off.
Zelda's jelousy turns into admiration after a while and she apoligizes to Link for her behavior, Link has to apologize too for his. Their relationship grows stronger.
From then on, they really can call each other friends. Link admits to himself his feeling towards Zelda. Both are pinning for each other but can't really say anything, unsure of the other one's feelings.
There comes a time when both know for sure how the other feels. They still don't say anything. Untill it's too late.
Yiga Link au tag!

Yo what if the Champions’ spirits stuck around long enough to train the next gen? Hcs for that?
*blows dust off of ask* Sorry this took so long, hope you weren’t too comfy sitting in my inbox there. Alrighty! Time for some
Training Montages *Rocky Theme Plays* (Headcanons)

Ok, the first part of this post it just gonna be some of my thoughts into how the Divine Beasts actually work, because that’s kinda of necessary information if you wanna train them. So here is another one of my big boi head canon posts because sometimes I can’t shut up.
So firstly, the Divine Beasts can draw immense power from Hyrule which is stored over time and charges their giant laser thingys (Naboris draws power from the earth and makes electricity, Ruta takes in water from the atmosphere, Rudania is fire boy, Medoh has wind and thermal (from the atmosphere) generators, etc. etc.)
The Ancient Sheikah were like “hey wow these are really powerful beasts so maybe we should make sure that no one unworthy gets their hands on them”
Their solution was to have a spiritual bond between the beast and the pilot. Each Divine Beast has their own “soul” or personality and can judge someone of being worthy of piloting them. And only that person would have the power to use the Divine Beast to its full potential (AKA use the giant Anti-Ganon lasers)
Ergo, the Champions
When the died 100 years ago, their spirits stuck around because Ganon need to trap their spirits in order to get the Divine Beasts to actually work
[And then this would be a good segue-way into that cool idea where the Link has to fight the Champions taken over by malice, instead of the blights. BUT we’re not talking about that today]
Ok, so you know the story. Link frees the Divine Beasts from Ganon’s grasp. The spirits of the dead Champions command a legendary blow against the blight of Hyrule. Zelda and Link help save the day. Yay!
HOWEVER! The Champions are still there, their spirits persist.Turns out their spirits cannot go away, because the Divine Beasts don’t really wanna go without an owner, considering they’ve been controlled by Ganon for 100 years, so fair.
Basically, the Beasts wont let the spirit of their old pilots go until they find a suitable successor
Enter, new gen Champs!
Daruk/Yunobo
Training with a Divine Beast is not unlike trying to form a bond with a real animal. In fact, the Beasts do behave with a mind of their own, so that might as well be an on point analogy
Daruk struggled with Rudania because its personality was very stubborn and blunt, much like the Goron race anyhow. As said in my other post, Rudania’s personality clashes with the playful and loving nature of Daruk
The only reason Daruk even got the handle on things was becuase Link forced him to spend a whole day in the Divine Beast. We can only speculate that from that time, Daruk must have somehow formed a mutual respect or protective bond with the giant lizard
So essentially, when he’s training Yunobo, he does the exact same thing
“You just gotta walk around for a bit, Yunobo. Get a feel for ol’ Rudania. They’re a grump, but you’ll get along.”
“G-get a feel? We’re surrounded by lava! What if I mess up? What if your Divine B—”
“Your, Divine Beast”
“Right, right… but what if it doesn’t like me and tips my into Death Mountain’s core!”
Daruk gives a hearty laugh. “Kid, you helped save ol’ Ruddy from Ganon, remember? You’ve already got a good bond going. So just walk around for a bit and just take ‘em all in. Good luck!”
And he slams the door behind him, leaving Yunobo in the dark
But he’ll eventually get around to forming a bond. But Rudania’s probably a little grumpy that they’ve gone from reckless pilot who laughs too much, to timid teenager gifted with a powerful champion ability that he is self-conscious about
Daruk is hella encouraging with Yunobos training. The kid will eventually be the second best with his Beast. Daruk is patient with Yunobo because he sees himself in him. And he also teaches him some cool tricks like if you tilt Rudania just right, you get a cool slip and slide ramp that’s perfect for the hot springs
Urbosa/Riju [not a lot for these guys bcs I’m lazy and this post is long anyway]
Urbosa would be playful with Riju when they train, making goofy jokes about things, letting out a quick joke to lessen and tension Riju might feel from her anxiety to lead her people. At the same time, she also explains things with good detail
Riju is third best with her beast. Occasionally, she’ll be intimidated by Naboris’ strength and power, especially considering she had an incident with Patricia the Sand Seal back when it was shooting lightning everywhere
However, she’s the one to ask the most questions, half of which Urbosa can’t answer. She’s got that childish curiosity that serves well in her understanding of Naboris
Mipha/Sidon [also not a lot because using your imagination can be hard]
Mipha and Sidon just act like siblings, much to both of their delight. It’s less of training, and more of catching up on everything over the last a hundred years on top of a giant elephant.
Because they’re siblings, Mipha pulls little pranks on her little brother on purpose. But neither are really annoyed by it, as they both laugh it off
Like Mipha will tell Sidon to stand in a certain spot to see how the parts of Ruta move. Then she makes Ruta move in such away to splash the poor prince in gallons of water
You’re gonna ruin his handkerchief Mipha!
Sidon is the best at managing his Divine Beast out of the four, for not only does he have a strong bond with the previous pilot, but he gets along well with Ruta’s playful personality
Revali/Teba
Local birds butt heads because they’re both egotistical idiots
Revali continues to be as dramatic as usual, while also maintaining his image by claiming that Teba will probably never master Medoh as well as him
Teba respects Revali given that he was his childhood hero. Yet at the same time Revali isn’t exactly what he expected, and he’s not down to take this sass from a teenager
Perfect storm of dumb banter, because both have reluctance in the whole situation
Teba gives out a groan, frustrated. “Argh! This damn bird wont start its propellers. How do I get it to work?”
“Perhaps Medoh is still tired. After all, you’ve been complaining none stop all day.”
“Right, my voice is the problem.”
“Why don’t you sing her a lullaby, she’s probably so sleepy.”
Teba scoffs, “You’re kidding. There’s no way that would work. Beside, there’s no way I’m sing—”
“Why don’t you hold your tongue, my dear apprentice,” another groan escapes Teba, “You’re going to hurt Medoh’s feelings with that attitude. Tulin is your son, yes? Surely you’ve sung a tune or two back in his fledgling days?”
“Sure, but I’m not gonna—”
“Medoh wants to hear you s i n g~”
Revali is strict with his training, and Teba probably struggled with Medoh the most out of the four, considering that before Link came along, he had the mindset of killing Medoh.
Teba still repescts everything Revali is doing, making sure to call him “Master Revali.” And though he would never admit it, Revali’s feathers would always fluff with pride at the notion of it
Also he’s gonna call Teba his pupil/apprentice throughout the entire session
Angsty moment: when each Champion thinks their apprentice is ready, THAT’S the time they get their final rest and their spirits move on. Like, imagine Sidon wanting to Master Ruta to make his sister proud, but at the same time the day he does is when she is gone for good.
That looks like a good note to end off of! So yay :)

Do ya’ll ever remember how beautiful Zelda and Link’s relationship was in BoTw?
The beginning was comical, honestly.
Zelda dislikes Link because she thought he didn’t have to work for his fate, that it was given to him. She also can’t stand the fact that she doesn’t know what he’s thinking bc he expresses nothing and it bothers her that he’s able to get under her skin without even saying a word.
Link, as devoted as ever to his role, dresses in vai clothing so he can protect Zelda within Gerudo Town’s walls (because she used the law against him so he would be forced to leave her alone. I love how petty she is ngl). He then feels as though he failed his duty when he realizes Zelda is long gone and goes back home disappointed.
After Link saves her life at Kara Kara Bazaar (despite how she yelled at him a day before and said she didn’t need his protection), Zelda becomes determined to mend the bridge she quite purposefully burned.
The middle part gets interesting as we see them actually form a bond with each other.
With Zelda trying to be nicer and more understanding of his mute nature, Link answers her questions when she asks. Knowing his thoughts, Zelda can actually form an opinion on Link that isn’t based on her biased opinion.
She realizes that she wants to get to know Link, someone who faces a similar burden she knows all too well. So, she learns Link loves food more than anything. He’s always ready to eat something. Maybe even frogs so she can analyze its effects on his body or actions.
Link listens to Zelda, as she shares with him the problem she faces. He understands, just as Zelda does, that they both have burdens that have affected them both (Link’s muteness and Zelda’s passive agressiveness).
Zelda has Link stay with her in the castle so she can ramble on about the Sheikah technology and how they’ve accomplished the fear of controlling them. She knows he doesn’t have to be in the castle with her but she wants him to be there just so she can talk to him.
Link, unlike anyone else (except Urbosa maybe), has seen the toll not being able to access her power has taken on Zelda. He hears her pleas and even turns around when she asks the Goddess what was wrong with her. He doesn’t think for a minute it’s got anything to do with her, he just wants her to see that as well. He’s become so protective of her that whether it’s her doubting herself or the ground shakes, he is there incase she falls.
Zelda refuses to go into hiding when Ganon comes back, instead accompanying Link as he goes to face Ganon. She could have gone with Urbosa to see the Divine Beasts in action, but instead she stays with Link.
The end is tragic.
Link, unable to actually face Ganon, is forced to take Zelda and run for Kakariko Village. He sheaths the Master Sword when she falls, listening to her as she breaks down. He has to be there for her. If it had been when he was first assigned as her knight, he probably would have gotten her up so they could continue running for their lives. Instead, he takes the chance just so he can comfort her. Because he knows how hard this is for her and needs to remind her she isn’t alone.
Zelda begs Link to try and save himself. She is relatively unharmed, probably a few bruises but nothing from the Guardians. She knows he is close to dying, his wounds much too great for there to be any real hope. So when he makes a point to make his final act in this world to save her from the Guardian’s beam, there was no way she wasn’t going to stand between them. She didn’t know the power would unlock in that moment, all she knew was that she HAD to save Link.
Link, unable to stand anymore despite his best efforts, collapses. When Zelda helps him up, saying that he’ll be okay, he can’t help the look of disbelief on his face. He knows he’s about to die, the last thing he’ll ever see is Zelda’s face. But he knows she’s okay. She’s alone. If he has to go, he can.
But after this, the motivation becomes clear.
Zelda, upon hearing the voice and knowing what to do, refuses to let Link share the same fate as all the other Champion’s and her father. She takes the sword and the tunic, making it to their original destination while Link is hurried off to the Shrine of Resurrection. She instructs Impa to give him the tunic when he wakes up as well as where to go to unlock the final memory of their journey together.
She goes to the Great Deku tree, hiding the sword and speaking the Great Deku Tree. She even tries to have him relay a message to Link, but he doesn’t let her even speak. He knows she will see him again, so why should he tell him a message she can surely say to him herself.
And so, she goes into Hyrule Castle, ready to keep Ganon at bay while Link recovers. She wakes him when the time has come. She guides him, gives him warnings and encouragements. She watches as he regains his memories, becomes stronger, and earns back the sword she hid a century ago.
As Link arrives to assist her, she’s unable to contain Ganon any longer. Her power has reached a limit. By the time Link defeats the body Ganon had been preparing, she’s regained some of her power, able to send a weapon to him and point out weaknesses.
Then, she is able to finally seal Ganon away.
After the battle is even more curious.
She praises Link for his victory, but that isn’t what she wants to say. She wants to know if he remembers her. If she’s just a distant memory or a very real person in his mind. Whether he remembers how close they were. How she came to rely on him when no one in her life believed in her. (Again except maybe Urbosa).
Link (in this version got all memories back) stares at her. Stares at the girl who is the center of everything in this world. The girl who wanted him to eat a frog, the girl who yelled at him for following her, the girl who rambled on about ancient technology, the girl who stood between him and a shot that would have surely ended his life.
Of course he remembers her. How could he not?

Breath of the Wild Daemon!AU
Ok so! I’m working on an actual fic using these concepts and this version of the BotW world, but I thought that maybe some of you might be interested in my ideas so here! I’m putting pretty much everything under a readmore, because this is copypasted from my planning document, which got very long and doesn’t even have anything to do with the plot of what I’m writing ^^’
Enjoy!
Link’s daemon is a Hyrule Field Mouse (lol get it) named Firielore (fih-REE-ehl-ohr), Firi for short. From Fi, Ciela, and Farore. They settled early, when Link first drew the Master Sword. Historically, the Hero most often settles as a wolf, but other forms are not unheard of and he isn’t the first Hero to settle as something more unassuming.
Pre-Calamity, most people, even other knights, thought that Link and Firi’s behavior was odd. Neither of them ever spoke (Link is mute, but Firi can speak and just doesn’t), and Firi was just as stoic and inexpressive as her human. As a mouse daemon, she was always on his person, usually on his left shoulder as was uniform for smaller daemons of knights and soldiers, but was rarely seen out of that position except for when she would turn to increase their field of view or leave him briefly to scout stealthily around corners/over boulders and the like.
Relating to the issues that make him canonically selectively mute, Link’s lack of self preservation re: his Duty translated to Firi as well. Things like stretching their bond too far for too long for the sake of getting the scope of a situation or enemy, but not letting the pain show externally where someone else might be brought to their knees with it. Other things like Firi using herself as a distraction, running from Link’s arm to the Moblin’s to divide its attention and leaving them both exposed to give Link a chance to strike. The monsters don’t know the difference between hitting a daemon vs. its Hylian, and that makes the contact less bad, but not insignificant. There were rumors throughout the castle that Link and Firi had been separated traumatically or that the Master Sword allowed them the distance, but both are untrue- their bond was no different than any other Hylian, they just pushed it further in the name of duty.
Link and Firi’s character development (in the memories) is subtle just like in canon. Through the Yiga attack she is always on Link’s left shoulder, even when they and Zelda are just traveling. On the hill with the Silent Princess is the first time she’s not there- she hops off his shoulder when he crawls forward to look at the flower and she moves closer to it. After Zelda’s failure at the Spring of Power, Firi touches Zelda’s daemon to comfort him, just for a moment.
Firi had and has (Impa gave it to them with the Champion’s Tunic) a small set of custom armor for protection, but rarely wore/wears it; she’s fast enough that any attack that would possibly hit her in battle would probably kill Link as well. On the battlefield she would either deftly scurry around Link and warn him silently about attacks from behind, or slip into a small armored pouch that existed to protect her in one-on-one combat unless an opportunity to assist presented itself. In the present, she doesn’t participate in battle the same way she would 100 years ago (with the aggressive distraction and the like), moreso providing Link extra ears and eyes in a fight.
Post-Calamity, she is considerably more physically active, but she still doesn’t speak out loud- except very occasionally to Link himself. I.e when they first wake up in the Shrine of Resurrection, Link hears Zelda’s voice first and opens his eyes to Firi sitting on his chest, also saying his name. However, she’s still a very quiet daemon, especially considering that Link communicates via signing and it would be considered acceptable for her to talk for him. In Post-Calamity Hyrule she’s more outgoing towards other daemons and will greet them physically if appropriate.
Zelda’s daemon, Hylayrune (hih-LAE-roon), Layrune or Rune for short, is unsettled until the moment she awakens her power, when he settles as a Snowcoat Fox (Real life equivalent: Arctic Fox). His name comes from Hylia (all Zeldas daemons’ names start with ‘Hy’), (La)Nayru, Hyrule, and rune/ruin. Before he settled, he took atypical forms for the sacred princess’ daemon that were more representative of Zelda’s scientific pursuits, such as bugs (usually a bee), frogs, and lizards. Almost always, the Princess settles as a bird of prey (often owl, occasionally eagle or loftwing), or in some cases a small dragon (as the three dragons Dinraal, Farosh, and Naydra are said to be the daemons of the three Goddesses, with Hylia’s being most often depicted as a golden dragon or occasionally a huge, golden Loftwing).
Rune’s late settling, and his preferred forms before settling, were a huge cause of anxiety for him, Zelda, and their father. This is all tied into their self-doubt about awakening their sealing power and being able to fulfill her duty as the sacred princess, but it’s also personal for the King. His daemon is a Mountain Crow, which though known to be clever and resourceful are seen as a bad omen, even a curse, within Hyrule. It puts stress on his regime, and the idea that his daughter prefers frogs and lizards over forms that have become symbolic of the royal family and the sealing power is deeply troubling. Rune takes “appropriate” forms only at official appearances and ceremonies, and even then, usually a more wild hawk over an owl, eagle, or dragon.
Other characters:
The Old Man/King: Mountain Crow (real life equivalent: Raven)
Urbosa: Islander Hawk (with kind of a more desert coloration. real life equivalent: Harris Hawk)
Riju: Unsettled, usually a Sand Seal bc they love them
Impa: Blue-Winged Heron (real life equivalent: Great/Little Blue Heron).
Beedle: Hylian Retriever (A golden one, fight me)
Other random stuff/past Links:
- The Princess traditionally settles when she first unlocks/uses her powers, and the Hero traditionally settles when he draws the Master Sword. There are some exceptions, like the Hero of Twilight being old enough to have already been settled, and the Links in games without the Master Sword settling in other ways.
-Hero of Time and Twilight both had Wolf daemons. Their wolf forms are kind of a combination of them and their daemons’ appearances. Time had a lighter colored wolf and Twilight had a darker colored wolf.
    - BUT Hero of Time’s daemon is usually a mouse as a child, when he’s unsettled, alluding to past and future heroes.
    - The mouse thing (here and for the Hero of the Wild) comes less from personality and more from the feeling of facing an enormous dungeon boss as Link, like a mouse about to fight a lion.
-Both the Hero of Wind and Four Swords/Minish Cap Link also had mouse daemons.
    - For Wind this is because of the mobility he needed re: moving on a ship (also kind of like a ship rat? Disclaimer: I’ve never played WW)
    - For Four Swords/Minish this is because he shrinks down and is pretty much the same size as his daemon (she’d have to shrink a little bit too but not as much) and I just think that’d be really cute
-I’m not sure what Skyward Sword!Link’s daemon would be. Not a loftwing because it isn’t possible for anyone but a Goddess or a sacred princess (with Goddess blood) to settle as one, but I’ve never played SS so I can’t really say. It would have to be small enough to ride on a loftwing with him, or a bird of some sort- probably all of the people in Skyloft settled like that, now that I think about it. Maybe a beetle?
-Link from the original games probably has a wolf daemon, as well as LttP/LBW Link.
- Spirit Tracks!Link has a white dove daemon and she rides on his head like the birds in the game and its adorable
-Ganondorf always has a boar daemon in any iteration. When he transforms into Ganon they merge, similar to Wolf Link, but grotesquely instead of dissolving together in Twilight.
-Only the Hylians, Sheikah, and Gerudo have daemons
-The Sheikah have mostly same-sex daemons, with opposite-sex daemons being about as rare as same-sex daemons among the Hylians and Gerudo. No one’s quite sure why.
-The Zora have sort of a connection to their jewelry and weapons, but not necessarily a physical one. More of a literal “put your soul into your craft” type thing, which is why Zora armor is the way it is and most of the Zora have specialized livelihoods like sculpting and smithing.
-The Gorons don’t have a physical Thing, they have a special brotherhood with other Gorons. It’s why you rarely see Gorons traveling too far from Goron City, and almost never alone. They can be alone, like a Zora can be without their craft and affects, but it negatively effects them after a while.
-The Rito have their songs; though not all of them are musically inclined, its a cultural thing and not a physical requirement. Kass would be considered very spiritually aware and expressive, whereas Revali would not, but a non-musician Rito doesn’t suffer for it. There would only be an issue if there were no bards among the entire Rito race, and the songs faded from memory.

i finished botw yesterday!!! and by that i mean i defeated ganon i didnt do all the shrines/side quests or anything lol
anyway the game is rly Good so here’s me spitting out my thoughts on it
the final boss was kind of anticlimactic? it was just.... too easy... it probably didnt take me more than 10 minutes at least thats how it felt like. the final form of ganon was rly cool tho.
also the fact that i hadnt planned on fighting ganon when i went to hyrule castle but then was like “WELP im here so might as well!” probably didnt help make the finale feel any less anticlimactic lol
ppl have said this before that the open world gameplay of botw makes it difficult to have a rly solid narrative which i agree with and i think this is one example of the freedom of the gameplay kind of hindering the pacing of the plot.... i dont think it’s Impossible to balance those things tho and i hope they figure it out for the next zelda game since im sure theyre keeping the open world gameplay. bc it’s Good.
i also did the champions ballad dlc!! which was rly fun! i still wish we got to see more of how theyre relationship w/ link developed tho bc the dlc was kind of just individual looks into their personality which was coool but Please... i want that good found family content im dying
also i didnt occur to me that the photo you get from kass can be displayed in your house so when i got the cutscene with link hanging up the photo and he’s smiles looking up at it iiiim sooooo ;__________;
also in urbosa’s diary when she talks about how zelda, link, revali, and mipha are so young and how theyre hyrule’s future and that she and daruk hope to help them see that future ;_____; IM!!! EMO!!!!
i understand that sometimes characters need to be Dead but also dont do this i’ll be Sad
and aaaaaalso daruk is so cool... and i wish his diary was less joke-y lol... like i feel like they couldve kept the part of his personality that’s simple and straightforward while also shedding light on the other aspects of his personality bc his diary is kind of just... food + also here’s how i met link! it’s basically him relaying stuff he sees happening but not much about himself
the gorons are a community that are very family-oriented! yknow with the whole brotherhood thing! and it’s reflected in daruk by him basically adopting link as an “official brother” and how willingly he is to die not just for his people but for all of hyrule... yes he’s a warrior but above all he’s a Protector and iDK I JUST THINK THAT’S SO COOL AND I WISH THEY DID MORE WITH THAT BUT WHATEVER!!!
same with mipha... i think she wouldve been a rly interesting foil to zelda... theyre both princesses w/ magic powers but while mipha is so beloved, zelda is kind of the opposite and thats rly interesting but she kind of just serves to be the tragic love interest.... i rly loved in her memory when she tells link “i will always protect you” like the wording of it is Active rather than Passive? her telling the Legendary Hero Who Seals The Darkness that she will protect him is rly cool...
but then yknow... when you free vah ruta and she talks about how she’s happy to play the role of support and im just... guuuuhhh... thats very typical for characters like her idk. im just tired of characters like her who are relegated to supporting roles and dont have much more to their character other than being timid damsels in love w/ the hero
especially bc i see hints of her being so much More than that especially in her champion’s ballad memory but it’s not enough bc a lot of her character hinges on the fact that she’s in love with link and how sad it is that she died without expressing her love which is rly awkward bc we dont even know how link feels about her at all overall the character writing for the champions couldve been better.... but zelda’s characterization is Really Good. A+. and usually i care more about story than gameplay when it comes to video games but i think botw was the most fun ive ever had playing a video game so theres that one last complaint tho... why didnt link and zelda hug at the end..... please.... theyre Friends....
OH WAIT. at the end when zelda says she thinks the 100 years she spent fighting off ganon probably made her powers fade away.... and how, now, she can accept that and she smiles AND ;____; MY DAUGHTER!!! SHE’S FINALY HAPPY!! IT’S WHAT SHE DESERVES!!

Sooo I finished AoC. Overall I loved it! And for everyone who’s still playing, consider: this is Hyrule Warriors. They’ll DEFINITELY add tons of dlc, both plot and characters. The OG Hyrule Warriors didnt even have Cia, Volga and Wizzro playable until a patch later.
So if you go out like me, feeling there could’ve been more on that front... there definitely will be.
Now my own thoughts under the cut
Overall AoC is just a good ol’ canon fix-it fanfic, but not a bad one imo.
some pros off the top of my head
I love love love love love the interactions between the champions and the champion descendants. All of them had me go “awww” at several points. if i listed everything it’d be like an essay but the dynamics are just so good and complement each other.
also the fighting styles for everyone were translated so well. i love the rito the most but good god anytime urbosa snaps a part of my soul leaves for heaven
Link literally chewing the scene was great. he did what he does best. being quiet and letting on that he’s a fucking dumbass
Impa’s and Zelda’s friendship is so soft. i have a lot of feelings for impa rn and i like the route they took with her.
the maps are so beautiful and it feels like you’re visiting almost every corner of botw
Not sure how to live with the fact that Master Kohga is over a 100 years old but also he’s so fucking much. Sure we all would love grittier Yiga and Sooga gave us an idea of that but also I can’t dislike this fucking goof
Terrako is the best. would i rp tiny guardian if i didnt overload myself with 92539508 muses? absolutely
the humor is really good. like. it never distracts too much from the atmosphere of hopelessness or derails it, it makes the champion’s interactions so much more likable
making the great fairies playable... i bow down to the huge mind that had this idea
puzzlers
This game both made me dislike and like King Rhoam more. They went hard with his stern doucheness and the guy’s vocabulary is almost made up solely of the word ‘duty’.  though i did like him actually admitting his faults to zelda and resolving to do better and from their following interactions you can tell he means it sincerely. and since that’s a happy end game we can assume his character arc is “makes up for having been a really shitty person” which is a nice change from the more straightforward character developments. but was an entire reel of “dad’s shitty parenting” necessary when the fact zelda suffered from the expectations was obvious from the first scene on and from botw. botw even had his diary in which he’s aware that he’s too strict bc of her role?? here he just acts like he doesn’t even realize it at all... so... he got some depth now but... mmm
it feels so much smaller than og hyrule warriors without adventure mode
who the fuck is astor. dlc wait starting now
I know they wanted this Calamity Ganon to look like Demise but all I could think of was Asura’s Wrath akjsdfgk
uhhhhh stuff that didnt jive with me
i guess they wanted to really show link pulling the master sword bc him obtaining it after becoming zelda’s appointed knight and meeting the champions seems nonsensical, especially since her dislike for him was because of it. if i make an aoc verse im probably gonna canon-diverge here
just like they went too hard with repeating over and over that king rhoam is a douche to his daughter they also went off the rails with revali. except while rhoam was just overdoing a fact already covered in botw and obvious from like 2 scenes,  revali’s attitude towards link makes no fucking sense whatsoever and really misses the point of his character as it was established in botw. i didnt like it at all
so at what point did the champions train again... the divergence here is confusing
i hope sooga comes back too...... pls
while i do love the interactions impa and urbosa get out of it, half of age of calamity really was zelda’s big angst. which would’ve been okay if botw didnt cover this in its entirety. idk why we needed the same arc being told twice. sure it’s important but making something thats already been explored the same focus felt like it distracted from other things we could’ve explored
barely seen anything of purah and robbie. robbie especially feels like a waste of a character. at least purah had a meaningful role but? was he just there for comic relief and to be the “told you so” guy.
really missing that we barely got any new characters from 100 years ago that wouldnt be alive in the future. maybe bc i went in with the expectations that we would. but the only new ones are astor and sooga which is a letdown.
what do you mean we can only unlock new outfits for link and one for zelda?? whats the point of postgame then please

breath of the wild zelda for the character headcanons?
aa omg! thanks for sending smth in! alright, lets begin aha
1: sexuality headcanon tbh here,,  i haven’t really thought over this w her aa gosh. i do kind of ?? see her as het im not too sure lmao
2: otp zelda x happiness
3: brotp platonic zelink!! gosh i just want them to be bff’s ok. i love them. let them be happy and shield surf together (( more like zelda’s trying to stop link from shield surfing bc he’s gonna hurt himself, the fool )) i also want them to explore hyrule ok link shows her all these cool af areas and they just have a blast taking pictures and goofing off hh
4: notp zelda and urbosa in a romantic setting,, no offence but… urbosa comes off as a mother figure to me ?? she just seems to care abt zelda in a motherly way
5: first headcanon that pops into my head honestly,, during her time w ganon i can’t help but imagine she had some sort of communication with him which helped her find out why exactly he was incarnating into.. well, a calamity. the first thing that pops into my head is the idea that she’d frequently converse with him and do her best to stay strong and ignore him bc she knew link would return to her one day, despite how long it was taking
6: one way in which I relate to this characteri guess like,, her self loathing in a way? im not too sure if i should call it that but i mean, i can relate to her not feeling strong or good enough for the power, thinking there’s something wrong w her bc she can’t do what she’s meant to.
7: thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this characterohh my god that one time she was running away from the yiga and just fell on her ass like zelda sweetie i love you and i would die for you but why did you just fall on your ass
8: cinnamon roll or problematic fave?cinnamon roll!!! oh myg os h i love this baby she’s so sweet and didn’t deserve anything that happened to her

zelda blogging which is so deeply super spoilery, possible the most spoilery it’s ever been, so if you haven’t THOROUGHLY explored the central-north part of the map DON’T read it
aww some of these gerudo wear glasses! love it
i like the music here too but i kinda wish it had been the same melody from oot ; ;
omg riju is tiny!!! is she still young?!
aww her relationship with buliara is sweet they obviously care about each other a lot
AAAAAH THEY'RE TALKING ABOUT MY SWORD lmao maybe i should have gone to get it after all
oh my god a sand seal that gives you words of wisdom for food
ooh i get a free accessory for giving this lady some flint...hmMmMMmMMmmm
topaz i guess bc i'll probs need lightning protection soon? but no, i'm getting a helm...
haha sapphire to go with link's eyes?
ruby bc the flame armor is the ugliest and i wanna wear something else? LOL
went with sapphire iin the end MAY I NOT REGRET IT...
ooooh i shoulda been saving my gems....Dang
i mean, at least i have the 10k i need for the great fairy, but there's so much cool stuff here and i can't bUY ANY...
ah no i did get some opal and amber earrings :3
swim speed up and the ithers are just extra defense
"apparently the accessory maker and the teacher of the relationship class were both in a tragic love triangle, and now they are both single" nintendo this is an all women society please give me lesbians i BEG of you
ok, i need 1 ruby and 5 topaz to finish buying one of everything here. i'll remember
hahahahaha "you've gotta take your time when selecting gems and voe" wise words, lady
omg i found a bar but im too young to drink. nice, nintendo
lmao you can tell one of the ladies you're over 100 and she doesn't believe you dxkfjhg
ok so the hideout of the yiga clan is apparently to the northwest of here so i get to RIDE A SAND SEAL or surf behind one i guess. tbh im a little worried i'll break all my shields :/
i got a gerudo one that i really like!! goes with my scimitar and golden bow!
aww can i not wear accessories along with normal armor...? that sucks
LOL SEAL PUNS the options when talking to the sand seal lady are full of em im dying
wow i can't get this shrine unless i wind sand seal races which i can't do with the divine beast out LOL
jesus those sandstorms look so huge and terrifying...especially since i know they'll disable my map
i wanna explore but tbh i better just stick to the plot and away from those bad boys
oh JESUS i went to an outpost where they're monitoring the beast and it's. so big. and so loud and big and. so scary. oh my god, it's huge
oh FUCK i got too close and it started targeting me so i ran away and thankfully it stopped...definitely gonna take it easy on the exploration if i can help it
oooh no no no why is the air turning green out here...dnw dnw leave me and my map alone!!
uh, and where is my fucking seal...? i left it right HERE
ugh i had trouble mounting the one from before when i stayed in the monitoring outpost do they like leave if you stay gone a long time...? fml
awww this old gerudo never found the lovers pond ):
ugh i see so much stuff i wanna check out but im too scared to get off the seal for long :/ ESPECIALLY if i get stuck in a storm i'll want a way out
oh wow the air is so hot here even my gerudo outfit is useless
tbh, maybe that's a good thing, if i'm eating food i can wear armor with actual defense...much as i love these clothes they're great for getting your ass kicked
ok no seriously WHY does everyone from the yiga clan drop bananas..............
i know that everyone talks about how cool it is that this game just plops you down in the world and lets you figure it out for yourself without hitting you over the head with the instructions
but i just found a bow and some torches in a circle of lit torches with some obviously flammable banners nearby, so
i found the missing gerudo soldier!
"all i've ever seen them do is patrol and eat[in red text] bananas" LMAO WHATS THE DEAL MY DUDES
theres some bananas here on a table wtf do i do throw them at them?? lmao
OMFG LOL IT WORKED
dude pranced right over to it and pocketed it lmao
nooo i missed a chest...maybe i can get it on the way back out ;_;
LOL I FOUND AN ENTIRE ROOM FULL OF BANANAS
this is so funny dkjfgh fck
urgh i wish i could just...snipe them from here. it'd be so EASY
im actually not even totally sure which direction to go, im all turned around
ok, one stationary guy at the door maybe i have to move him?
NOOO I FUCKING FELL THEY SAW ME
i couldn't even fight they one-shotted me and mipha's grace didn't kick in! that isn't fair at all
at least i can get the chest i missed
lol and i cant save in here. perfect.
ok yeah im gonna have to look it up bc as far as i can tell this room has no exit all the hallways just circle back around into it
apparently i CAN fight them...? they're just really hard?
this walkthru is so unclear lol there's a hidden door i can find with magnesis on the right-hand wall WHICH RIGHT...
WAIT fuck i finally see the exit
ah ok. wrong room for the hidden door.
master kohga!! he just...knocked himself out with his own attack. lmao ok
fuck this is SO FUNNY he is so funny
i love it even his bones cracked
isn't what he used to be, apparently
wow this is a boring fight he has a lot of hp and he's so far away the only way i can attack is arrows
and now arrows aren't working anymore...? obviously i'm doing something wrong
maybe i can reflect the rocks back at him
ok google says to drop his things on his head
HAHAHA HIS SPECIAL ATTACK FAILED
this undertale naruto motherfucker im crying i love him
"pretty soon you'll be gone! and not just from my line of sight!" i'm CRYING
fuck the ball rolled on top of him and made him fall
"COWARD! I SHALL BE REMEMBERED!!!"
what a fucking legend i'll never forget you master kohga i promise
aaaand thunder helm retrieved
but i gotta rescue that missing gerudo!
ah good her cell is empty!
lol im skipping sooo many shrines rn...i'll come back to them later i swear
oh NOOOO i got a memory!!!
urbosa the prankster!!! witht he power of lightning at her disposal!! protective of princess zelda!! i'm dying!!!
also im sad so zelda's sealing power mjst be what she used to seal ganon away but apparently in the past she couldn't make it show up for her whole life...?
aw no poor riju the helmet is too big on her
(give it to meeeee)
ok it's time for the divine beast bit but before i do jack or shit im going to upgrade my armor as much as possible rn
ugh you can't enhance the gerudo clothes...geez
FUCK YES HERE WE GO!
aaah riju is talking!!! i always get so surprised!!!
i did it!! tbh i had a really hard time keeping up with her...a dash was too fast but regular speed was too slow
AAH URBOSA IS TALKING TO ME ;_;
ohhh wow it's really walking around while on it
oh man. it's so big. it's so big
oooh you rotate the insides of this one!!
i get the feeling now i should've done more shrines in this area afterall, they have the same sort of electricity theme and they would've been good practice
okay that was...easily the hardest beast so far
i had to use a guide TWICE and i could barely understand the instructions, PLUS i got two terminals by sheer dumb luck
oooh boy okay a lightning boss im assuming here we gooooo
LMFAO i suck so much at this urbosa was like "there is valor in dodging"
thanks zelda i missed your captain obvious statements
geeeeez i just barely got it
oh EW that never gets any less gross
ohhh my god
"I COULDN'T BE MORE PROUD OF HER" B Y E
oh my gOD?
she mentioned nabooru from oot BY NAME holy SHIT this continutity between games!!!
and "calamity ganon once took on the form of a gerudo that makes this all the more personal" jesus fUCKING christ
i feel so bad for ganondorf the man like
he didn't ask for this shit anymore than link or zelda
and at least they get to win most of the time he always loses and even when he does win he's hated, his win brings ruin
where's the fic where the only way to end the cycle is to become friends with him huh
or like, frankly: the true enemy isn't ganondorf but the evil that takes hold of him
when does he get to be the hero and fight it and smash it to little bitty bits!
oh lord and the blood moon as soon as i get back
do people like, see these towers popping up and beasts moving around? does it scare the shit out of them or make them hopeful?
anyway i hope now i can explore with less sandstorms
oh boy time to ride into a sandstorm gee i sure hope i dont get lost
LOL and first thing i run right into a camp of enemies just bc i was trying to stay in a straight line!!!! jesus
lovely! i am now hopelessly turned around in a sandstorm. i literally don't even know which way i came from
my sand seal is also STUCK lol
ah i passed through it! i'm right where i need to go!
omg I FOUND THE LAST GREAT FAIRY
i'm. i'm 500 short. oh my god
nothing i can't earn with 10 minutes of cooking, tho
huh...? she only asked for 1k...?
i could've SWORN i read someone asks for 10k at one point!
god what if i've been MISINFORMED all this TIME
ooh this one is orange and green
FUCK "i know what you're thinking...can't we just skip to the part where she enhances my clothes?" FUCKING PLAYED
holy FUCK just found my first molduga...i have to KILL one of these for a quest? jesus christ!
ohhh that actually wasn't too bad at all once i figured out the strategy...i've had more trouble with lynels and hinoxes
i'll be honest, the interactive map take a bit of both fun and "work" out of exploring...i look at empty areas and don't wonder "ooh whats over there" but think "ah i can just glance at that bit"
which should make me feel like my Pure Enjoyment of the game is being compromised, and i guess it does a little, but
i wasn't kidding when i said the need to explore was a bit compulsive so it's mostly a relief
ah from up here i see the sandstorm...i think it rotates around the desert? so, it's very possible to avoid and survive even if you do get stuck
anyway i missed several shrines but the quests for them are so complex and i am so Sick
of the desert. even worse than rain tbh
now the question is what to do next: master sword or rito beast
lowkey wanna wait until i get all four beasts before the sword, but
i know you do all four beasts and then ganon and that's it, so if i got the sword then it wouldn't help me for long
plus i'm a little tired of fighting the temperature and changing gear/eating food all the time, so......i guess i'll go check out the forest
maybe i'll see dinaal! i've only seen him once from veeeery very far away
im getting aaaaawfully close to hyrule castle i Dont Like This
lmao every time i catch sight of the divine beasts in the distance, the fact that i can SEE them from THIS far away, blows my fucking mine
they are SO BIG
im getting a much closer look at that flying thing and i'm almost CERTAIN it's a divine beast
just. jesus christ. so BIG
ohhh my gosh i can see the giant pink tree from here *_*
or maybe it's brown, maybe the deku tree is dead lmao
lol straight up skipped the bottomless bog and the enemies at the bottom bc i glided in from death mountain
whoa this tower has rock all over the top??
ah maybe it's so i can't glide to the big tree in the middle lol
not the lost woods if i don't get lost!
lol jk i got on top of it and there was a super cool sword here
aww rauru hillside...im sad
BRO im in the lost woods but its just playing the maze shrine music, i was so hopeful for saria's song
zora's domain having the same music set me up with false expectations t b h
omg if i go too high i die!! i can't follow my higher-ground instict here!!!!!
which is pretty cool but if all i have to do is wander around these woods with my map ON to find the master sword i am gonna be disappointed
even gerudo desert turned it off sometimes
ohhh okay if i wander off the path i also die i can't just go wherever i gotta follow torches i guess
mkay i googled it bc i got stuck and couldn't see anymore torches and it's wind direction! neat
see i feel a little bad about not figuring that out for myself but like...it's not Fun to die over and over bc you can't solve a puzzle. so #realgamers can shut the hell up lol games are for fun
the ember thing is SUPER clever tho and like i know this game is so like, praised bc it stops holding your hand, but i would have appreciated a TINY obscure hint
i did get as far as carrying a torch but i thought maybe i was burning off the fog or smth
omg i found korok forest!!!
oh
there's my sword
said "oh" out loud
kinda wish the quest had been more, idk
but.
mmm not yet. not yet. i'll talk to some koroks first
haha and the very first one tells me to go get the sword all right all right
man. i always remember now that fi's been in there since the ages of skyward sword, sleeping
tbh i kinda miss her
even though she's way more annoying than navi could ever DREAM of being
for all we complain about compaions, they're a zelda staple and it feels lonely without them
i know not having one makes for a stronger game, i do, but...
really though. the master sword quest was SHOCKINGLY easy. i know i looked up the ember thing but geez it's the first truly disappointing this about this game
and my brother told me they made you work for it lmao but that was. not even close to Work. i've had more trouble at bokoblin camps
like. fucking weak. tbh. i'm so sad like i can't believe this game let me down
OH MY GOD
I TRIED TO TOUCH IT AND THE MEMORIES OVERWHELMED ME
and like at first i was like "ok if link gets his memories back with the sword i'll give them that, that's pretty sick"
AND THEN THE GREAT DEKU TREE STARTED SPEAKING
AND IT WASN'T LOST WOODS MUSIC BUT IT WAS FOREST HAVEN MUSIC
and i straight up burst into tears
"i have watched over hyrule since time immemorial" i know i know i was there i know i missed him so much one of the very first major zelda characters i ever knew i know technically he hasn't been there since the very beginning but he was my beginning
and i didn't even think i cared about him that much emotionally but i also welled up the first time he spoke old hylian in wind waker
oh god link's not WORTHY of the sword yet yes okay i'm here for this i knew this game wouldn't let me down
idk why i never considered the big pink tree might be the deku tree like i joked about it just a few minutes ago but i didn't seriously consider it so i was so surprised
and all the koroks running around and i know i KNOW they used to be kokiri it's almost like i came home, Really Home, the forest was where link began for me, not hyrule proper, he was always a child of these woods
ohhh my god i gotta mop up my face stream is soon!! jesus fuck
oh god now he wants me to pull it again
what if i'm not worthy? what if i am?
i don't have long left to play but i CANNOT leave it here, jesus christ
okay. i'm gonna try. i gotta try. courage!
oh my god it takes your LIFE?
and he said enough when i was down to my last quarter of a heart!! i'm gonna cry i was so close link tried so hard but he wasn't ready yet
i could eat food to max out my hearts but where's the fun in that........
ok. ok. i need to. step back a moment. fuck.
there's hestu! oh my god buddy you finally made it home!! me too pal me too
im gonna save and quit here before i talk to him tho bc like. i gotta stream. but Wow. god Damn
I KNEW THIS GAME WOULDN'T LET ME DOWN!!!!
LMAO I LIED JK im playing a bit more after stream
i talked to the trial korok and "do all the shrines here, it's based on the trials the legendary hero himself did" im crying!!! thats some History!!!
oh my god the koroks are so CUTE??
oh no this is so precious they've been waiting for him
sdfgsfdg "nooo vegetarians everywhere nooo that's my face" i wish i had thought to taka e a snap of that but i cant get him to say it again
aw omg they set up little stores and they only have one of many items please please i'm so proud of them
they set up a little bed for me!! they don't even want my money to sleep there!! i'm sleeping in a tree again, just like i was in oot ;____;
tbh it's so fitting that i did the scary mysterious thing of trying to pull the sword at night and i'm meeting the koroks in the brightness of day
i saw a shield resting on this rock and i had a tiny heart attack like OMG THE HYLIAN SHIELD?!?
ok. ok. i did the trials. i'm gonna see if i can get the sword now??
lol i have the same amt of hearts im not leaving to find a goddess statue and i was trying to boost my stamina anyway but maybe the food boost will help? unless they dont let me use it, we'll see
aaah no it DOESN'T omg
well, maybe one more heart container will do it...?
ugh i don't wanna go back and do the desert ones
me: already fast-traveling
Great, A Sand Storm, Just What I Wanted
fuck i stopped by town and there's a secret club that sells gerudo clothes for men
LOL why.........do they think dudes will feel weird looking pretty? come on
they said there's a high demand so i choose to believe there are lots of gerudo transmen. anyway back to the forest i got two more heart containers i pray it's enough i was SO CLOSE before
I DID IT FUCK I ALMOST DIED BUT I DID IT
IM GONNA CRY JESUS CHRIST
ZELDA SEALED THE SWORD
she's been fighting 100 years and she has so much faith in link
more importantly she heard the sword speak to her im crying fi is in there fi and zelda/hylia meet again
her smile is like the sun, i would do much to feel its warmth upon me again ME TOO PAL im weeping my poor brave daughter i promise i'll save her i promise i promise
it's almost 7am but that was worth it. that was W O R T H I T
