then Izuku and Katsuki, who are already establishing their friendship and partnership again after years of bullying, strife, and misunderstanding, and are bridging the gap between their view of heroism, literally taking the best ideas from each other's practices, and relearning how to be friends, can TOTALLY have the potential to end the same, or similar way.

All I'm saying is it's not so far out of the realm of narrative possibility as people think. Their stories are actually very similar. And if you think that a couple that starts out with very unhealthy, problematic, and even toxic dynamics, cannot happen, it ALREADY HAS, with Catradora."

#bakudeku #Catradora is almost a blueprint for canon Bakudeku #or maybe a template #they're not QUITE the same #but they have similar themes. #like Bakudeku isn't a monolith it is not the FIRST EVER couple to feature some problematic elements early on in the relationship #pretty sure if we looked hard enough we could find something that even came long before Catradora #Catradora just stands out because it's also a same-sex pairing #I mean hell I must have a TYPE because I ship Zutara and did so really hard back in the hey-day of Avatar #And that relationship has a really rocky start as well #I'm just saying here #BKDK IS NOT THE FIRST OR THE LAST to have these problematic or toxic elements in their foundation #but the APPEAL of these fictional pairings is that the characters involved GROW from it #it's part of their arcs #the parties who are in the wrong LEARN that they are wrong and they CORRECT themselves #I'll stress that this is a great thing in FICTION #because lets face it #not every person in rl who has unhelathy and toxic behaviors IS going to change. #they're not being written with an overarching plot #so NO #I don't think it is AS prominent for a redemptive story like Catradora zutara even bakudeku to happen irl #and that's fair #but from a FICTION STANDPOINT #these relationships ARE FANTASTIC #and they DO show that you CAN better yourself. #That's whats important and why they SHOULD be included.
