A little twist on Danny meeting Terry Mcginnis, aka the Batman from Batman Beyond

This would be an older Danny, maybe he stopped aging, maybe he didn’t, but at this point he’s been around the block a few times.

Danny first sees the new Batman as Fenton, not Phantom. Maybe he’s surrounded by members of the Jokerz gang, and Terry drops down to save this guy before things escalate. Danny could have handled things on his own but he’s not exactly going to tell that to the new guy. 

He takes a bit of a shine to Terry. He could just ask Bruce who the new guy is, but he wants to have fun with it. Terry is still new, a little sloppy, he needs someone to train him up a bit in ways old Brucie can’t do on his own anymore. So he decides to make a little game of things.

Danny slips into the role of antagonist/rogue, not for any nefarious purpose, simple to give Terry a proper challenge. It’s all a game and he’s just training the new guy, and if that involves LARPing a Villain, so be it. 

He leaves enough clues that Bruce figures him out immediately. The old man must approve, because he would have told him to stop otherwise.

Meanwhile, Terry is confused when the new villain he had been trying to catch saves him when things go south with a bunch of splicers

You know what I want to write. Like even a oneshot or something. Imagine for a moment, some sort of timeline where Terry and Matt Mcginnis exist, but Bruce still has all the children he does in canon. So a lot of children.

Now bring in Terry and Matt, but make them far smaller children than Bruce has had to deal with before. I am talking toddlers or near. Bruce now has to try and raise a literal toddler and baby with his childrens' insisted help.

thinking about terry and matt, how matt is just so so important to him. hes a headache and a brat but most importantly terrys little brother, and hes always gonna be his little brother, one of the most important people to him. and terrys his hero, both as just himself and as batman.

i bet matt imagined himself as robin. would daydream of fighting right beside batman without even knowing its terry. and what a terrifying thought it is for terry. his baby brother out there? doing what he does. (not that terrys thinking hes still a kid too)

does terry look at the suits of all the past robins and see matt in one too? theyre heroes, and matt wants ti be a hero, but terry, looking at all these kids in the past, who died or worse? theyre not heroes, just a cautionary tale.

DC Prompt: WFA Beyond?

Terry wakes up in a Cadmus facility and learns that everything he went through in canon was simply memories implanted in to his brain by Waller.

While trying to escape he finds pods with his younger brother Matt and other future/non canon Batfam members in them, all of whom think their implanted memories are real when in reality they are clones.

They do the only thing they can think of and go to Wayne Manor.

Ever see those posts about women having massive babies because their husbands are huge like Hawaiin/secretly Shaquille o neal?. No? Am I the only one who gets all the baby content despite being child free???

ANYWAY I feel like no one talks about the potential of any bio kid of Bruce being massive. Like yeah Bruce is normal sized and so is Damian/Helena/Terry but like what if they weren't? Thomas Wayne was a big dude and he wasn't even a fighter!

Can you imagine Martha carting around 4 month old Bruce who is somehow the size of a 3 year old and she just narrows her eyes at Thomas like this is your fault and Thomas just shrugs because Wayne men are just Like That™

Fast forward to Talia who sees Damian's projected growth and size and is like 'you want me to carry what???? Where?????' and like immediately sets up for him to be a test tube baby cuz ain't no way.

Diana (in that weird timeline where Bruce and Diana have a kid) thinks nothing of it and just has the baby. Both her and Bruce are warriors so naturally their child would be sturdy.

Selina bitches at Bruce every chance she gets because the fuck you mean her toddler is 4 but Helena looks like she in the senior year of high school and the star quarterback???

Terry McGinnis' mom immediately know that something is off because her husband isn't built like that and she has seen baby pictures of him and he wasn't this absolute unit at the age of 42 weeks.

You come home to find your boyfriend splayed out on your bed. His frame dwarfs your plushies and little throws, and your blankets are messed up. He looks sick.

“Babe?” you call worriedly, rushing to place a hand on his forehead to assess his temperature. He sighs exasperatedly and leans into your touch.

“Need you,” he breathes, pulling you down to the bed with him.

“Terry!” you laugh, kissing his cheek. He pulls you in, lips connecting in a heated kiss. He parts his lips and you feel…fangs? “Mmh,” you mumble into the kiss.

Terry’s kisses move down your neck, hot and inviting. He pants, and you feel his teeth on the junction of your neck. “Just a little, baby?” he questions, and you nod. Do you know what he’s talking about? No. Do you trust your boyfriend completely? Yes.

Terry bites your neck, and you feel him sucking your blood. “T-Terry, what are you—” He pulls back, licking over the bite. It’s enough to sate him, you presume. Your eyes fall half shut, body tired from the quick riddance of a decent amount of blood.

“Shit, Y/n, m’sorry, baby,” he whispers, lips still flush against his neck. “Something happened on patrol.”

You chuckle. “I could tell.” You shiver and you realize that the window is wide open. “Terry, you left the window open?”

“I need to get back out there soon,” he says, “Needed to clear my head first. Needed to see you,” he kisses your temple, squeezing you tight.

You return his kiss with a multitude of your own, and soon he’s fighting to get out of your bed.

“Leave it unlocked for me?” he asks, his leg dangling out the window.

“‘Course,” you grin. “I expect you to be back soon, babe.”

Terry smirks, shaking his head and dropping out of your window, shutting it behind him. Now…How to explain to Bruce why he disappeared in the middle of a fight…

These people get surprised when they see each other in the street and run up for a brief, tight hug before saying goodbyes immediatly because they still have to run errands.

Chapter Fifteen: Afterschool

The twins and Dario returned home without Domenico. Jason was out with Claudia, and Noemi was fast asleep, so Angelo was the only one awake to notice. “Kitty, where’s Dom?” Angelo asked. Katerina ran to her room, and Cecelia followed closely behind. Dario tried to run, and Angelo caught him. “Oh no, you don’t. Where’s Domonic?” 

Dario frowned. “He’s at your school,” Dario whispered. Angelo set Dario down before slipping on a jacket and shoes. “Where are you going?” 

“To get our brother. You stay here and wait for Papá. Don’t tell him where we went… No matter what, scricciolo. Can I trust you?” Angelo asked. Dario didn’t answer. “What am I saying? Dario, wash your hands and eat a popsicle.” Dario nodded and let Angelo leave. He ran down the street and past the gym until he reached his school. 

Angelo stopped, leaning over and struggling for air while he looked for Domenico, and listened until he heard the sound of a struggle behind the gym. “Domenico—!” The older boy swung and hit Domenico in the nose, and Domenico staggered back, wiping the tears from his eyes. 

“Go home!” Domenico shouted as he stood across from his opponent. The other boy stood nearly a foot taller than him. “Go home!” Domenico wiped the blood from his nose. 

“Stop it! What are you trying to prove by fighting him?” Angelo screamed despite his hoarse voice. “Nico, don’t touch him! It’s me that you have a problem with!” 

Nico tried to take advantage of Angelo’s presence to strike Domenico in the face with his fist. Domenico stumbled backward, and Angelo moved forward until Domenico shook his head. “Are you going to throw a punch, or what?” Nico asked. Domenico shook his head at Angelo, and in the same breath, he punched the boy as hard as he could in the stomach and throat, climbed up the gate, and jumped on his back. Domenico wrapped his legs around Nico’s neck until the older boy dropped.

“Dom, that’s enough!” Angelo screamed. Domenico got off Nico’s shoulders and punched him out. Angelo grabbed Domenico, who leaned on him for support. “Are you okay? Let’s get out of here.” 

Angelo picked Domenico up and carried him to a bench near Giorgio’s. Angelo looked into Domenico’s eyes. “Are you alright?” Angelo questioned. 

“Why do you care?” Domenico mumbled. 

“Dom, I didn’t mean—. I did mean it, but I didn’t mean to hurt you when I said it—.” 

“You did… And I do understand. You don’t think I get it?” Domenico snapped.

Angelo frowned. “Is that why you beat Nico up?” Angelo asked. Domenico shrugged as he wiped tears from his eyes. Angelo carried him home, and Jason swung the door open and took Domenico from Angelo. 

“Dom! What happened to your face?” Jason asked as he sat on the couch. Angelo grabbed the first aid kit, shining a light in Domenico’s eyes. “What happened?” 

“I got in a fight,” Domenico mumbled. He bowed his head. 

Noemi gasped when she saw Domenico and held his face in her hands. “ My poor baby! What happened to you ?” Noemi asked. 

“I got in a fight at Angelo’s school,” Domenico answered. 

“With a—? Did you win?” Noemi asked. 

“Mia amata!” Jason exclaimed. “Did you?” Domenico nodded. 

Noemi smiled with sad eyes. “Who was it?” Noemi asked.

“Nico,” Domenico answered. Jason and Noemi exchanged glances before laughing. Angelo sat on the coffee table across from Domenico and cleaned his face. 

“No more fighting kids twice your size. Okay? We’re gonna let this one slide,” Noemi replied. Jason nodded in agreeance. 

“Nothing’s broken… I’ve never seen you move so fast. You’re gonna have to show me how to do that,” Angelo whispered. Domenico laughed before bursting into tears. Angelo hugged him. “Dom, you’re the best. I know I don’t tell you that enough. I’m sorry.” Jason and Noemi slipped away to let them talk. 

Domenico sobbed as he held onto Angelo. “I wanted to hurt him because he hurt you,” Domenico cried, “I’m sorry. I just—. I want you to like me again.” He gasped in between sobs, and Angelo rubbed his back. 

“I never stopped liking you. You’re my little brother. I wouldn’t be me without you… And now I owe you because I can tell everyone at school that Nico got beat up by a little kid,” Angelo chuckled. Domenico looked at Angelo with tears in his eyes and laughed. “You’re the best.” Angelo took the ice pack and held it to Domenico’s eye. 

“My head hurts,” Domenico whispered. 

“Mine too… Are you hungry?” Angelo asked. Domenico nodded. “papá brought home some melon gazpacho. I’ll make you a bowl.” 

Domenico nodded. “I had to take those punches, so it’d look like a normal fight,” Domenico explained, “I want you to know I’d never let a guy like that beat me up. I don’t care how big he is.” 

Angelo laughed. “You’re too smart for your own good. Are you sure you don’t want to go to school with me?” Angelo asked. Domenico laughed, shaking his head. 

“Too much science. I’d be bored,” Domenico replied. Angelo stuck his tongue out at his brother. “Angelo?” Angelo took a ladle and spooned gazpacho into two bowls. 

“When I get better, you can do your homework in my room like you used to,” Angelo whispered. Domenico smiled. Dario entered the living room with a popsicle and started crying once he saw Domenico’s face. 

“Come here, topino,” Domenico whispered, reaching for Dario. He scooped his younger brother up and squeezed him. “I won.” Dario frowned as he kissed Domenico’s cheek. “How are you today?” 

“Papá gave me an extra popsicle. I talked to a girl in my class. She made me a paper frog,” Dario whispered. 

Domenico kissed his cheek. “Topino! I’m so proud of you! Tell big brother,” Domenico replied. Dario let Domenico hold his paper frog as he hopped off Domenico’s lap. 

While Dario was distracted, Domenico crept to the twins’ room. “I lived,” Domenico joked. Cecelia crossed her arms. 

“You’re going to get in trouble,” Cecelia muttered as she turned up her nose. 

Katerina ran to him and punched his shoulder. “Oww! I used that flying triangle thing you taught me,” Domenico answered. 

“Did you win?” Katerina asked. 

“Kitty! Dom’s about to get in trouble, and that’s all you care about?” Cecelia questioned. 

“Did you get enough momentum on your jump?” Katerina questioned. Domenico nodded. 

“I won… And I didn’t get in trouble,” Domenico replied as he tapped Cecelia’s nose. “Don’t be mad at me.” 

Jason knocked on the bedroom door. “Showers and homework,” Jason reminded softly. Cecelia high-fived Jason and took her pajamas to the bathroom. “Thank you, Sheils.” 

“No problem, Papá,” Cecelia answered.

“And stop teaching your brother how to kill people. I hear everything,” Jason whispered before kissing her cheek. “Also, thank you for giving Claudia something to do today… And no more fights. They’ll start noticing that you kids can do more than just box.” Domenico nodded. “You okay?” 

“Uh-huh…” Jason gestured with a tilt of his head for Domenico to follow him. They sat in Domenico and Dario’s room on the floor. Jason pulled at one of Domenico’s curls. “Papá, I’m okay—.”

“You don’t have to prove that you are who you are… Not to me… Not to anyone. Do you understand?” Jason asked. 

“Yes, Papá… But—. Well, how will—? I don’t want to be different—.”

“You’re not. You look like me, fight like Katerina, act like Mamma… And you’re responsible like Angelo. If anyone knew you, they’d see that you’re the same as your siblings in all the ways that matter,” Jason whispered. He lifted Domenico’s chin with his knuckle and smiled. “Your brothers and sisters are crazy about you. Mamma and I adore you… You want a hug, don’t you?” Domenico nodded. 

Jason pulled him into his arms and took a deep breath. “I love you, Papá,” Domenico whispered. 

“You’re so much like me… It’s scary. Do you know that? I want you to be better than me, though,” Jason replied. 

“I can’t do that—.” 

“That’s where you’re wrong. You can do anything,” Jason smiled.

Heroes & Villains The DC Animated Universe - Paper Cut-Out Portraits and Profiles

Terry McGinnis 

In the later half of her career as a shadowy governmental power broker, Amanda Waller became convinced of the essential role Batman played in the safeguarding of not just the United States, but the planet in general.  And yet, unlike Superman or Wonder Woman, Batman was mortal and vulnerable to the inevitabilities of time and age.  As such, she instituted a contingency plan known as 'Project Batman Beyond. ' 

This entitled obtaining a sample of Bruce Wayne’s genetic material and arranging for it to be introduced in the unborn fetus of a Gotham couple.  This couple, Warren and Mary McGinnis, gave birth to a baby boy whom they named Terry.  Bestowing young Terry with Batman’s genetic potential was merely the first step.  Next, Waller had to arrange for Terry to experience the same terrible trauma of loss that forged Bruce Wayne into Batman. 

As such Waller hired an assassin to murder Mr. and Mrs. McGinnis in front of Terry, thus replicating the trauma hat had ultimately molded Bruce into the Batman.  Fortunately this assassin could not go through with the murders and Waller ultimately chose to abandon the project.  

A few years later, fate intervened and Terry’s father was killed by an agent of the sinister businessman, Derrick Powers.   Happenstance resulted in Terry’s anguish ultimately leading him to an aged Bruce Wayne.  Terry stole Bruce’s technologically advanced Bat-suit and he used it to become the new Batman, eventually bringing his father’s killer to justice.  

Begrudgingly at the start, Bruce finally chose to train Terry and help him become the new Batman for a new era.  Chance had stepped in to fulfill Amanda Waller’s scheme and the world received the protector she so felt it needed.  Project Batman Beyond had come to fruition.  

Actor Will Friedle provided the voice for Terry, with the young hero first appearing in the bed episode of Batman Beyond, ‘Rebirth Part One.’

Terry McGinnis, stuck 15 years before he was even born, decides that ‘screw the timeline, the Joker must die’ is a good strategy. Helping the Red Hood enact his plan and get back into the family is a bonus. Terry McGinnis is one of my favorite characters, and the fact that this fic has him interacting with the Batfam is even more awesome. I also love the fact that Terry slowly becomes friends with Jason.

WOOOOO TIME TRAVEL FIX-IT AU TIME BABY!! I love plotlines like this where some characters get to better understand why others are the way they are, what formed them into the person that they know. And I also love that @blightwritesfic lets Terry fuck with the timeline a little. As a treat. Thanks so much for sending this one in!
