Dabih*wks being considered to have more weight than Dabitwice by the fandom that won't stop talking about Dabi having 'daddy issues' really sums up my problem with the false old man fucker allegations y'all give yourselves in general-You'll believe Dabi having a situationship with a guy who's not even in his mid 20s and also a cop to his disabled punk and make daddy kink jokes but don't think he wants an actual Daddy because 'creepy age gap' when Jin is literally only 31 to his 24 and neither have never expressed they view eachother as father and son.Which makes sense because Jin's not even teenage years worth older than him, much less old enough to be his dad LMFAO

Everyone likes Humaira “Hani” Khan—she’s easy going and one of the most popular girls at school. But when she comes out to her friends as bisexual, they invalidate her identity, saying she can’t be bi if she’s only dated guys. Panicked, Hani blurts out that she’s in a relationship…with a girl her friends absolutely hate—Ishita “Ishu” Dey. Ishu is the complete opposite of Hani. She’s an academic overachiever who hopes that becoming head girl will set her on the right track for college. But Ishita agrees to help Hani, if Hani will help her become more popular so that she stands a chance of being elected head girl.
Despite their mutually beneficial pact, they start developing real feelings for each other. But relationships are complicated, and some people will do anything to stop two Bengali girls from achieving happily ever after.

In Sensorium: Notes for My People- Tanais
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
“Fragrance has long been used to mark who is civilized and who is barbaric, who is pure and who is polluted, who is free and who is damned.” - Tanais
After listening to just a chapter of this entrancing memoir-meets-cultural history of perfume and scent, I knew I needed a hard copy. Tanais is one of those few authors who reminded me of that Vashti Bunyan song “I’d Like to Walk Around in Your Mind” - not in a creepy way, more of an “I love how this person thinks and wanna discuss a million things with them” way!
In Sensorium is in part a love letter to Tanais’ Bangladeshi heritage, presenting their personal journey in the greater context of the horrors of the caste system, the Partition, and the gut-wrenching violence exacted on women & femmes therein. They follow the through line of perfume and scent - the roles played by colonization, class, and climate; and how the drive to create beauty for its own sake knows no bounds.
Tumblr media
Creating beauty comes naturally to Tanais, a self-taught perfumer. After reading this book I had to check out their creations - I am after all the kid who collected perfume samples. Luckily Tanais sells tiny rollerballs of their scents for $8 so I could not only afford them, I could afford several! My favorites were:
Nymphea - an aquatic white floral of lotus and lily with the comforting warmth of sandalwood.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Matí - a tribute to little tablets of Ganges river clay eaten by expectant mothers in Bangladesh. This complex, earthy rose evokes coziness with its notes of cocoa and Ganges clay. These scents are both truly addictive.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I also bought the Heart Chakra lipstick, which looks green in the tube but turns a brilliant berry on me, fading to a popsicle stain (see below).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If you have an interest in memoirs by queer brown femmes, Bangladesh, perfume, or just love lyrical prose, you will be grateful for the journey.

The recipe book "Mastering the Authentic Flavors of Kacchi Biryani: A Step-by-Step Recipe Guide"
Certainly! A recipe for Bangladeshi Kacchi Biryani is provided below:
Ingredients:
To use as a marinade:
1 cup plain yogurt - 500 grams of plain rice - 500 grams of mutton or chicken
1 teaspoon red chili powder - 1 teaspoon each of garlic and ginger paste
1 teaspoon of powdered turmeric
A pinch of salt
Two large onions, thinly sliced; four to five green chilies, slit; for the Biryani
A couple handfuls of mint and coriander leaves
1/4 cup ghee or cooking oil 1/4 cup of hot milk
A small amount of milk-soaked saffron strands.
Instructions:
Thoroughly wash the rice and let it soak in water for 30 minutes. Drain, then set apart.
Combine the yogurt, salt, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and garlic paste in a big basin.3. Heat oil or ghee in a heavy-bottomed pot. Add the sliced onions and fry until they turn golden brown. Remove half of the fried onions and set them aside for garnishing.
In a heavy-bottomed pot, heat the oil or ghee. Add the thinly sliced onions and cook them in the oil until golden brown. To use as garnish, take half of the fried onions out of the recipe.
Fill the saucepan with the meat that has been marinated and the marinade. Cook the mixture until the oil separates from the meat and the temperature reaches medium-high.
Include the coriander, mint, and green chilies in the meat mixture. Stir thoroughly.
Evenly cover the meat mixture in the pot with the soaked and drained rice.
Saffron-infused heated milk should be poured over the rice. This will enhance the color and flavor of the biryani.
Place a tight-fitting lid on the saucepan and lower the heat. Cook the rice for 20 to 25 minutes, or until it is soft and cooked through.
After it is finished, turn off the heat and wait 10 minutes before opening the lid.
Serve hot with raita or salad and garnish with the reserved fried onions.
Enjoy your mouthwatering Kacchi Biryani!

Amar can’t wait to tell everyone his wonderful news: he’s found The One, and he’s getting married. But it turns out announcing his engagement on a group chat might not have been the best way to let his strict Muslim Bangladeshi family know that his happy-ever-after partner is a man—and a white man at that.
Amar expected a reaction from his four siblings, but his bombshell sends shockwaves throughout the community and begins to fracture their family unit, already fragile from the death of their mother. Suddenly Amar is questioning everything he once believed in: his faith, his culture, his family, his mother’s love—and even his relationship with Joshua. Amar was sure he knew what love meant, but was he just plain wrong?
He’s never thought of his relationship with Joshua as a love story—they just fit together, like two halves of a whole. But if they can reconcile their differences with Amar’s culture, could there be hope for his relationship with his family too? And could this whole disaster turn into a love story after all?

I’ve been meaning to make a post like this for a while, so here are some fiction anti-colonial/anti-apartheid/anti-genocide books that I read for the cultural studies concentration of my literature degree, that I think are super readable/accessible and don’t see recommended often:
1. The Association of Small Bombs by Karan Mahajan
Tumblr media
A novel about a boy who was a victim of a terrorist attack as a child and how he becomes radicalized by the same terrorist group that killed his friends as a young adult.
Additional/background reading:
youtube
2. The Story of a Brief Marriage by Anuk Arudpragasam
Tumblr media
a 24 hour snapshot of the last few weeks of the Sri Lankan civil war where the Sri Lankan goverment bombed a no fire zone, killing as many as 70,000 civilians, the vast majority of whom belonged to the Tamil ethnic minority. (this book is extremely graphic but very worth reading imo)
Background/additional reading:
3. White Teeth by Zadie Smith
Tumblr media
A post-colonial novel spanning several decades centering on two WWII veterans living in Britain; one a white Englishman, one a Bangladeshi immigrant.
additional/background reading:
4. An Imperfect Blessing by Nadia Davis
Tumblr media
A novel about the Indian community in South Africa, told primarily through the lens of a teenage girl and taking place during the dissolution of the apartheid state.
background/additional reading:
5. Home Fire by Kamila Shamsie
Tumblr media
A modern retelling of Antigone set in post-9/11 Britain and Pakistan.
additional/background reading:

I love your human designs for 31 min so much .. saw your CR Juanín post and other cultural based headcanons and I would love love love to hear any heritage/cultural hcs you have for any characters :D they're always my favourite thing to hear from fandom because of how unique it is to everyone .. hope you're having a nice day :)
Tumblr media
Thank you so much!!! I'm having a good day hope you are too :]
I try to add ethnic features to my designs and I'm glad you like them!
Okay so
Tulio is Chilean meztizo and unconnected indigenous roots (Mapuche)
Bodoque is Mapuche (but also I like the idea of him being mexican,, he's so mexican to me what else is more mexican than a stubborn asshole. Good rep for me right there 👆)
I just like the idea of Juanín being Cost Rican because of projection and also I don't see Costa Rican characters 😭 I don't think he'd be too connected since his family isn't around
Patana is mixed black latino (also unconnected indigenous roots)
Mario Hugo is wasian (white Latina mom and South Korean dad)
Policarpo is white (german bc of his middle name)
Huachimingo is indigenous African (im thinking southern African indigenous. Maybe Ndebele or Khoisan)
Maguito is Chilean-Argentine (since he was based off an Argentine magician)
Not exactly sure what I think of Guaripolo but Honduran comes to mind?
Mico is Afro Puerto Rican
Ccrm is Ecuadorian and Indian
Jackson Aceituno is Saudi Arabian and grew up in Spain (I've discussed with friends how he'd reconnect more with his culture + find peace in religion and i just really like the ideas dzksehbz)
Balón is Haitian
Guantecillo is Bangladeshi
Rosario is Argentine
Cindy is mixed latino and Filipino (has a filipino mom who was raised in japan)
Amapola is mixed white and black (idk what specific ethnicities rn 😭 I'm tired currently so sorry) (I hc her as that since I've seen someone say that in El libro gordo it said amapola and freddy were siblings. And while I couldn't find that myself while skimming through the book I've just ran with it)
Idk who else um
I think of corchetis as Mexican bc that is a very Mexican girl to me
Bombis Mexican too
That's all I can think rn, hope these are interesting!
