absolutely hilarious when Batman thought Tim and Cass, his most feral children, would balance each other out by working together.
Day 2 and Tim is shooting Cass with a gun for the bit

"the parallels between Bruce and the robins all becoming orphans young" ok that's nice but the parallels between Bruce and Cass both having lost their innocence after being confronted with death at 8 years old. The way they both have let the grief, the guilt, the impotence haunt them ever since and transformed it into more. The way they both, though in different ways, lost their parent(s). The way that the traumatic instances (and their upbringing until then) couldn't have been more different, yet it affected them so similarly and are the pillars for their current moral code and suicidal tendencies. Can't think about them too much or I go insane

thinking about the part in batgirl 2000 where babs and bruce are arguing about whether or not the video of cass's first murder is real or not. the fact that bruce went directly to the source of the video (cain) and didn't ask if it was faked but rather how. the fact that cain told him to his face that it was real and bruce still refused to believe it. the fact that babs believes it's real and still loves cass and tells her that it was not her fault. the fact that bruce cannot accept that cass is a killer, because he refuses to believe that someone who has taken a life could ever be as dedicated to the mission as cass is. the fact that cass's dedication stems directly from her desire to never see anyone experience what the man she killed experienced in his last moments.

One thing that is important to me when discussing Cassandra Cain is the fact that she didn't develop her anti-killing moral position because of the bats. Neither does she have her moral code because she's Bruce's obedient golden child. Instead she decided at around age 8 that killing anyone (even some random criminal like in the 2000 batgirl series) was fundamentally wrong because it made them feel fear and pain. Finding out the bat-code had a similar perspective about killing was more validation than anything else. She would be saving everyone she could with or without batman.
She created her own moral framework against that her (in the 2000 series at least) white father. In spite of the fact the fact that her father literally objectified and dehumanised her, she fought to speak and be heard. She chose her own destiny, Babs and Bruce just helped her along the way.
As an Asian character it's important to me she wasn't 'taught' morals by white Americans, but rather she has a code that she developed herself. She doesn't listen to Bruce half the time, and she's more loyal to the concept of the bat symbol than anyone who wears it. She consistently disobeyed him in her original run. All these things aspects help her avoid being just a character with white saviour undertones, and allow her to instead be a heroic beacon of life and compassion in her own right.

You guys ever think about Cass making a goodbye message for Barbara before leaving for a death match she’s prepared to lose on principle if all else fails? You ever think about how those two love one another so much but can’t understand each other the way they wish they could? You ever think about Babs trying to raise a teenage girl who was brought up by an assassin, qualifies as one of the most dangerous fighters on the planet, and throws herself in harms way like she doesn’t care if she lives or dies?? You ever think about Babs trying to give her a life beyond just crime fighting?? You ever think about how Cass didn’t want that for the longest time?? You ever think about Batgirl as a mantle and all the weight it carries?? YOU EVER THINK ABOUT CASS SAYING THANK YOU AND THAT ORACLE WAS LIKE A MOTHER, BEFORE LEAVING TO DIE AT THE HANDS OF SHIVA??? Me neither me neither me neither.
