Using the bathroom in general is a human right and should be enshrined as such and I'm not joking. Too many groups of people are denied bathroom breaks or the use of bathrooms entirely--disabled people, blue-collar workers, children, homeless people, prisoners, students, the elderly. I'm surely missing other groups. Not using the bathroom when needed can cause serious, long-term damage, not to mention death. Free, clean, accessible bathrooms should be available everywhere. It's fucking cruel to deny someone the use of the bathroom, regardless of the reasoning. I'd rather every student in the world goof off and every homeless person make a mess and every worker "steal company time" than let one person suffer because they're denied the right to fucking pee in peace.

Cause I heard that people actually did have gendered bathrooms in their houses and I'd love to know how popular that actually was. Please answer only if you actually had this split, not if you've seen it in others. I anticipate the rate will be skewed, but I think the results will be interesting nonetheless.

gendered bathrooms are so fucking stupid.
there are two bathrooms at the starbucks i frequent. one women’s one men’s. and i just watched a lady wait outside the occupied women’s for 15 minutes before giving up and leaving rather than just using the unoccupied men’s.
before you ask if i’d be okay with a man going into the women’s were the roles reversed: yes. of course. it’s a single bathroom. it’s not like anyone is going to run into anybody while in the bathroom. it’s one door that leads to a toilet, sink, and changing table (both bathrooms have the changing table-- a win for dads everywhere.)
the only thing that separates them is the dumbass sign on one that says women’s and the other dumbass sign that says men’s.
and you bet your ass that if i need to go, and one of them is occupied, i go use the other. it shouldn’t be a big deal.
would getting rid of gendered bathrooms fix all of trans problems everywhere? no probably not. but if they aren’t designated for one set of people vs another set of people then you can’t really stop a butch or trans woman from going into the “women’s” bc she looks masculine, bc there isn’t a women’s.
there’s just the goddamn bathroom.

no but when you really sit down and think about it, you have to be actually batshit insane, mentally unstable and depravingly dangerous to be a man who actually feels comfortable walking into women’s spaces and taking up space as if you were ever welcome there. like physically and confidently walking into women’s restrooms, locker rooms, changing rooms, sports teams, lesbian bars, gatherings etc and not feeling an ounce of shame or embarrassment or guilt, but instead entitlement. like as a woman, this absolutely fucking baffles me. even hypothetically putting myself in the shoes of the men who do this makes me feel physically sick. like i literally had a full body cringe thinking about it. as women we’re taught to feel things like shame and guilt and embarrassment for taking up space in almost any public setting, so I guess this feeling just comes naturally to me, but like. how can you feel justified and righteous enough to demand to be let into these spaces where you aren’t fucking wanted? where is the self awareness and empathy?
like they keep telling us that these TIMs who “just want to pee” are supposedly less of a threat to us than other men but, the kind of man who feels entitled enough to pull shit like this is probably even more insidiously dangerous to women than your average man. it’s just so sick and twisted. they’re narcissistic, egotistical, porn-sick depraved men who are fetishizing us enough to want to emulate us, invade and use our spaces, date us, piss and change beside us, all while demanding to call them one of us, or else be silenced and labeled a bigot. as if we’re indistinguishable from one another and should be respected and treated as such. it’s terrifying when you actually think about it.
