Beauyasha Week 💙 Day 1 — Angst OR Champion

i have no idea what they’re fighting, i just had an idea, didn’t think twice, and ran with it.

but hey! happy beauyasha week! i ambitiously tried to make mini animatics for each day, though only managed 1-3, 5, and 6. expect them to be rough and sketchy, as i was mostly just trying to see how fast i could make short animatics if i stopped being a perfectionist.

Without realizing it I'd already drawn half of the Mighty Nein in the past couple of weeks, so I might as well finish what I started hahah. So Jester and/or Veth next!

She was flying. Holy fuck, she was flying!

Beau tightened her grip around Yasha's neck and shoulders, and pressed so tightly together, Yasha could feel Beau's heart racing and her breath against her skin.

Yasha turned to look at Beau, smiling wide as her own grip tightened on Beau in return.

Then they were off, Yasha soaring through the air with Beau in her arms. She could hear their friend's excited cries beneath them, but Yasha was solely focused on Beau, who was hooping and hollering herself.

Yasha took them higher and higher, soaring above the clouds. Beau was giggling maniacally at their height. Looking at one another again, Yasha raised her brow in question, loosing her grip just a bit on Beau for her to understand. Beau's beautiful mind put it together quickly and nodded enthusiastically, dropping her arms from around Yasha's shoulders. Yasha gave Beau a bounce or two in her arms and then--

Beau was free-falling, Yasha diving down along with her, her ethereal wings tucked along her back. There was a wild look in Beau's eyes as they fell, but there was never once a look of fear. She trusted Yasha to catch her before the hit the ground.

But they were plummeting towards the earth. Yasha had dropped Beau above water and before hitting it, she circled around Beau and pressed against her back, arms around Beau's waist. Then Yasha righted them before impact, the flapping of her wings causing water to spray up against them. Another wild laugh and Beau dropped her feet, skiing against the current with Yasha pushing her along. Yasha zigzagged with her flying and Beau easily kept with the movement, rocking from side to side, foot to foot, Yasha's chin propped on Beau's shoulder for the entire ride.

They quickly approached a waterfall, but Yasha kept going. Just as they breached it, Yasha's arms tightened, and they soared over the edge, Beau once again shouting out with an excited laugh.

When they eventually landed, some ways away from their friends, Beau turned, cupped Yasha's face, and kissed her. "That was amazing," she exclaimed. She kissed Yasha again, pulled away, and whispered, "You're amazing."

Yasha nearly cried from happiness, and she answered the best way she knew how: she gathered Beau into her arms, and kissed her back.

Alright. Way back when the campaign ended I made a post explaining that while the appeal of lifespan angst isn’t necessarily lost on me, it’s an aspect of real life I don’t see the need to enforce on a fantasy world with an established afterlife, and I certainly don’t think 70 years from now that it’s as scary a prospect as it is in their 20s. I don’t really know a lot about god domains and I don’t care. What I do know is that the Good Place’s concept of paradise as nothing more or less than time, as much as you need, shook me in a great way and that’s the kind of joy I demand if I’m going to dive into real, non-resurrection death.

So here you go. 2.5k, slammed out in three hours and very raw. No time to overthink and water it down with too many explanations. I think it’s very joyful, all told. Beauyasha week 2022, Day 1: Angst or Champion
