YSP Presents “The Actor's Choice” Workshop
Join Madison WI’s Young Shakespeare Players (YSP) for a first-of-its-kind show in which the actors choose and present our favourite scenes from Shakespeare's body of work! With a wide variety of scenes (including selections from such great works as The Tempest, Hamlet, and The Merchant of Venice) showcasing each actor's distinctive talents, this will be a truly unique experience!
I will be portraying the dark and powerful 🖤 Hecate 🖤, goddess of witchcraft, as she guides the Weird Sisters in the ambitious Macbeth's downfall; and the flawed king with a poet's soul, 👑 King Richard II 👑, as he formally gives up his crown to the rebel Henry Bolingbroke (later King Henry IV) with beautiful language, sorrowful passion, and bitter, biting wit. I will also be participating as Seacoal, a foolish nightwatchman under the pompous Dogberry, in a scene from Much Ado About Nothing; and Demetrius from A Midsummer Night's Dream as he and the other young lovers celebrate their joined weddings by watching the Rude Mechanicals try to enact the tragedy of Pyramus and Thisbe (the keyword being "try" 😂).
Also starring @laropasucia as the twisted, scheming King Richard III, and the infamous drunken, bawdy knight Sir John Falstaff from King Henry IV.
Three great shows:
Friday, August 23, 6:00 pm Saturday, August 24, 7:00 pm Thursday, August 29, 6:00 pm
Performances take place at the YSP Playhouse (1806 W. Lawn Ave., Madison, WI — right behind Trader Joe's, near the corner of Monroe and Spooner).
As always, all performances are FREE!
