one of the things that's immediately apparent about white supremacy is that it badly hurts non-white people

perhaps less obvious is that an effective secondary purpose is to hurt almost all white people

b/c the bribe of white supremacy is *not* that it will improve your lot any, just that it will worsen someone else's conditions a great deal

what do the Confederate apologists say these days? "the civil war couldnt have been about slavery; 95 percent of all white people didn't own any slaves at all". as if only the people who actually own capital are the ones who will kill to protect capitalism today

and what's the bargain of capitalism to a poor person? well, they aren't some homeless wretch, are they? and if they work hard, the success of the billionaires will be theirs one day. they believe

for poor whites, white supremacy is the guarantee that no matter how poor, drunk, ignorant, & worthless they are, they will be better than best [slur] can ever be. even the hated whites. the hillbillies were allways white. the irish were always white. the italians were always white. european jews were always white. they were just the wrong kind of white, and so suffered horrible discrimination of their own, but they could always get in on hurting others if they wanted

meanwhile, East Asian Americans, South Asian Americans, Latinx, and Maghreb Arabs (as opposed to Levantine Arabs) didn't get to be white, and sometimes have suffered pogroms or expulsion or terrorist watch lists. but they, too, could take the blood money, be bribed into supporting white supremacy, if it meant someone might be guaranteed to be worse off than they. they could establish a floor of cruelty beyond which only Others felt

even prisons have their trustys. you can be a Black cop; you can be a Buffalo Soldier on a frontier fort. the Cherokee could participate in chattel slavery, the Mescalero could serve as US Army Indian Scouts

white supremacy will not make 95 percent of its participants better off, certainly not better off than they'd have been without slavery, genocide, capitalism. but it will make a lot of people much worse, and if you're white, if you believe hierarchy is essential & inevitable, then you believe that without it, it's possible you'll fall to the bottom & be regarded as badly as you've regarded others

so from a champion boxer like Jack Johnson to a Nobel laureate like Toni Morrison to a centrist president like Barack Obama, the grievous psychic & material wound is seeing that the essentialism you believe in /doesn't/ keep the best of those you hate from rising higher than you ever will. it doesn't matter if the president governs with policies no different than a white man or if he helps you, a poor person, have healthcare you couldn't afford otherwise

when injured, some people would like to be healed & ensure no one can be hurt the same way again. but others would rather see another person in agony just so they can say, "thank god i'm not like that poor son of a bitch"

Favorite piece of surrealist art?

I’m typically not a fan of surrealism, but I really love a lot of Zdzislaw Beksinski’s stuff. Very unnerving to look at.

Does the thought of aliens make you hopeful or terrified?

... Both? Maybe a little more terrified than hopeful, because I can’t imagine anything looking down at us and thinking we’re worth interacting with, or we would be kind to anything that came to us despite probably being horribly outmatched. I just don’t see it going well.

Do you know Zdzislaw Beksinski? What do you think of his art? It kinda reminds me of the first half of Pokemon Reborn in terms of the atmosphere.

i have not heard of him and frankly i am not convinced that that is a real name and not just a keyspam, but i guess google is backing you up on this one for some reason.

99% percent of these are heccin’ spooky but imma be real with you anon this one just makes me think of all the thomas the tank engine memes

1. Do you have any pets? If not, is there a pet you’d like to have? If yes, what are they, and are there any more you’d like to have? I have a few! I have 2 hissing cockroaches (Pen and Quill) a cat that lives with my gram (Dryadalis) and a chihuahua that’s really my mom’s (Guera)

2. Favorite Song My favorite songs vary weekly, so as of NOW some of my faves are Rats - Ghost, Work This Body - Walk the Moon, Let There Be Fire - Aviators, and BOOGIE - Brockhampton 

3. What’s one thing you just really find interesting, but wouldn’t go into as a job? When i was young i wanted to be a mortician, and then i found out that hard gore squicks me to my core

4. What’s your aesthetic(s) like? Hell a weird hodgepodge of gothic occultist, a human vulture, and ancient sailor?

5. What’s your favorite piece of art? and why do you like it? (can be ANY piece of art, classic, fanart, painting, whatever, if you can link it that’s good, if not, just describe it!) probably this by zdzislaw beksinski! he never titled any of his works, iirc, and actually burned a lot of them. nearly all of his works have a very distinct abstract dream like vibe to them, often being rather eerie. he himself didn’t view them as such, and was a very sweet grandpa type guy. I had to study him for a project in high school and sorta fell in love with his work. 

6. What kind of food do you like best? I’m big on pasta and steak, but if I had to pick like, chinese, mexican, italian, it’d probably be chinese

Good evening bats. I've recently been thinking about how trivial of a pastime upkeeping this account was when I began it a couple years ago. Honestly, it mostly started as an attempt to find goths, since I was the only one in my area and the college I was attending at the time didn't allow goths or anything that looked like them (seriously). I initially posted just whatever I thought would make those of the night laugh or smile, be it memes or horror quotes. I ended up sharing some random art by Jon Kenn, and people seemed to respond quite positively to it. I shared some more of Mr Kenns works, and that was the first step on a journey I could not have forseen or prepared for. I started sharing whatever art I thought could count as 'gothic', frequently accompanied by the dreaded "artist unknown". After a time and a few (retrospectively reasonable) concerned comments, I began to add 'if you know the artist please comment', which was reasonable enough I suppose, but still pretty lazy. As I became more interested and involved in the content I was sharing, it became so much more than what it had been. It quickly became more about helping the artists and giving free publicity than anything else. Anne Stokes, Anthony Clarkson, Boris Grogh, Trevor Henderson, Zdzisław Beksinski, and the innumerable other amazing artists I've found through this have helped me more than they can know, as I can always count on their art to make me think and relax. I didn't intend to cram my whole origin story in here, and hopefully it won't subtract from the impact this piece has to offer. The artists DeviantArt account credits this pieces creation to too much path of exile, which is understandable. His other pieces are wicked, and all worth checking out. Which you should do if you like this piece, and also follow him if you like his style. .
