i presented on this panel a hot minute ago about like being trans in the workplace basically and it’s really so encouraging to be able to speak out to a range of ppl but especially to the older trades union guys who like, kinda have no idea about anything, but are actually super eager to learn and support this new face of labor organizing as their comrades all the same.

there was a question from a guy about like the use of queer nowadays tho, since i introduced myself as a genderqueer transsexual, and because when he grew up like that was so full of hate. and i answered like yknow, i wouldn’t broadly apply it still because it is full of pain for so many people, but as with AIDs activists in the 80s and 90s like, it’s reclaimatory, it’s meant to be punchy, it’s meant to make you uncomfortable.

but i keep thinkin n i’ve landed on a more solid answer for myself which is like. i’ve Really struggled with the word queer bc i grew up in a small rural conservative area where that was not said with love, where kids on rooftops threw rocks and called me a faggot when i walked by, where i couldn’t even go through a taco bell drive thru without being called a dyke. and the thing is now as times get a lil more socially conscious, as i live in a city with more liberal values, as i am in a workplace that at least claims itself to be LGBT friendly, i’ve realized that just because they stopped calling me a queer doesn’t mean they stopped treating me like one. so i think that’s why i’ve been able to take on words like dyke and fag and queer, out of pride And out of pure spite.

There's a lot of things I want to talk about and do now that my energy is back up. Though for the most part I have to get some life stuff in order. So, today I'm starting out on that. Personally I'd like it if the Milgram fandom at least on here could do some fun stuff over the intermission.

Some cool ideas,

Making a bunch of fanart of Es sleeping and dreaming about being on vacation over the intermission as everything is just going wrong behind them. Little guard on break signs.

Fanfics about Es going on break after trial. Little on break short fics. Kind of reminiscent of the Clock Over Orquesta collaboration. Fics about what the prisoners due over the intermission maybe them receiving the things they ordered over the trial. Just little slice of life stuff like that.

Of course, there's the anniversary and other holiday specific fan events that go on here. It just be nice to relax after trial two ends. Like a vacation.

Though before all of that there's some things that I'd like to note about the prison. Particualrly the song extraction.

Yuno notes that the interrogation room changes after the bell rings in her trial one voice drama. The prisoners seem to have adjusted to this fact over the course of the trials.

The room's...changing? With that the interrogation is over. From here, I'll be taking a peek at the mental images produced from your memories.

During Futa's voice drama before the bell rings we hear what is labeled as a mechanical sound. After which he goes-

What?! What's happening?! It's time, I guess. I'll be having a look...at what your justice is. So, this is what'll be extracting songs is it? Hmph. Do what you want!

The same mechanical noise noted in Haruka's first voice drama. The mechanical noise comes before the bell ringing in Shidou's voice drama too.

It's time, huh. So, this is what will be extracting songs, huh. It sure is intriguing. I wonder what mine will be like.

Given that Mu states the same thing as Yuno that the walls start shifting in her voice drama chances are Haruka, Yuno, Futa, and Mu were all not warned this was going to happen before they went in.

Ah! What is this? The walls are moving! What's happening? Times already up? We didn't get to talk much, but... I guess that's okayy. I'll be taking a peek at the inside of your heart now.

Unlike Shidou who seems to have been told beforehand this was going to happen. More than likely by Futa. This is played off as Shidou just being more composed than the others. Hwowever, as we come to see from Kazui's voice drama when he attempts to test out the barrier it's more than likely Futa just told the others what happened within his interrogation.

Simalarly to how Haruka spoke to Yuno after his interrogation. Where he states he felt a hit when the machine started.

20/06/16 Yuno: Hey, Haruka-kun, how was it? The guard put it like “your mental images are gonna be extracted!!” but what was it actually like? Haruka: U-uh…… I’m sorry. I don’t, really remember…… I spoke with the guard, and then a bell rang…… a-and I felt my shoulder get hit…… and then…… N-next thing I realised, time had passed, and it was over…… Yuno: Hmm~ You sure there wasn’t something fun that happened? You were smiling really widely when you came back, weren’t you? ……I’m looking forward to my turn~ Haruka: Ehh……!? ……ah, n-no, I��… n-nothing happened…… hehe.

Mahir's response while different from the others still registers that something strange is happening but she blames it on herself for getting overexcited.

W-what is this? Is it because my love exploded? No, it's the end of the interrogation. For goodness sake... As always, things never go as planned, do they? With you prisoners, I mean. Uh...Um... This is what'll be extracting songs, right? But, I'm not that good at singing, though. You won't necessarily be the one singing. Your mental landscape will present itself in the form of songs and videos- that's all.

This is something Genderqueer-mahiru brought up as tying Milgram and Caligula Effect together. So, it's important to highlight that Es in canon blatantly states that something which occurs within the Caligula Effect universe is also occuring within Milgram. Let's continue/circle back to Kazui.

Kazui's first voice drama displays to us that the prisoners are actually sharing information amongst eachother. At least Futa is explaining Shidou and Mahiru's responses and immediate guess that this was the thing that extracted songs.

He does this from the very beginning by testing out the barrier.

Now then... I wonder how this will turn out. Sorry for the wait prisoner no.07, Kazui. ...Hm? Excuse me. W-what?! Sorry, just let this idot restrain you for a second. E-eh...! Kh...! You...! That's rude! Eagh...! Now, now... I won't hurt you, so don't be afraid... -Huh...? Ghaah! Nn... What's this...? I've suddenly lost my strength...?

When Kazui is just restraining Es he's behavior is allowed. However, after he states he has no intention to hurt Es suddenly his behavior is prohibited. Showcasing how much of a liar Kazui is right off that bat. Because he said that knowing full and well he absolutely did have the intention to hurt Es the only thing which is prohibited. Something he goes into after.

Hmm~ Hey! Are you listening to me, Kazui?! If someone tries to hit you their fist will suddenly stop... From Futa's accounts I had the mental image of an invisible wall. So, I was wondering about what would happen if I tried to restrain you. ... But the moment I tried it, I lost my strength. I wonder why? It was almost like I, myself, became oppossed to attacking you. Hmph, I don't know all the details either. I just know that a prisoner can't attack the guard. I see... Hehaha. But knowing that it's not like a magic barrier reassures me, as an old man. So there is a way to realistically explain it, at least... It might be something similar to hypnosis.

Then when the machine starts this is Kazui's response-

What's this? It's time to end the interrogation. It's a pity- we were just starting to get serious. Haa... What a relief. I've had enough of this.

Pretedning to be surprised but happy all the same for it to be over. I say pretending because we know from Amane's reaction that mostly everyone was told how these interrogations go.

Oh, my. Is it already over? It was a fun time. While we had some minor disagreements you listened to what I had to say. I am very happy about that. ...

Mikoto is an interesting case because he does not respond to the bell since at the time it rings he's apparently not conscious of the situation. It's like this seemingly both trials. I'm not gonna play these games with this man anymore. It's oddly conveninent that he doesn't have a reaction to the room changing both times. Even though he would know exactly how the room fucking looked before and would be waking up to a completely changed environment. Despite that he's rather calm. Even though this was something jarring for other prisoenrs to see happen in real time.

He's jsut here like yeah this might as well fucking happen I guess. He just wakes up in a changed room and just rolls with it. Both times apparently.

Since Kotoko has seen this happen several times already she's rather relaxed about it. The one shocked this time is actually Es.

...! It's time... Oh, well. Then we can leave things as is. All I've wanted to say has already been said anyway.

Again this is interesting because of how greatly it aligns with the Caligula Effect games. As well as telling fans that the song extraction machine is just not within the prison while the guard is asleep and the trials aren't going on. It's more than likley just summoned into the room when needed.

Meaning the prisoners can celebrate the trials being over by going at least we don't have to hear that creepy bell anymore. I'm also surprised none of the prisoners have like seen Jackalope cooking? Or there's not many fanworks about that. Like they all go to the kitchen as well.

Nischa headcanons because the little fellas have been infesting my brain like little invasive species:

—firstly, I believe in gay (no duh) and genderqueer he/him noel, and transmasculine bisexual poly mischa

—noel is in my mind significantly taller than mischa, like 5 inches at least (kinda like Andrew Rannells and Christian Boyle-style)

—noel cannot lift a damn thing to save his life, meanwhile mischa can somehow carry him with little to no effort (not in a “strong protecter and weak submissive” gross way, just in a “it’s most likely one would have more time and reasoning to put work into his strength, while the other may find it clashes with his ideals and interests” way)

—their contact photos for each other is just a game of “who can capture the ugliest picture of the other”

—mischa will get or show noel anything France related

—(goes without saying, but-) they both have very different ideas of what “romantic” music is… like noel will play soft, slow jazz like songs, and mischa would make them kiss and dance to Eminem

—going with that; their first non-noel’s lament kiss would be the most awkward thing ever, especially given how inexperienced they would both most likely be outside of it

—they find the most random things about each other endearing… like for example, mischa would be floored by Noel in his Taco Bell uniform for reasons neither of them quite understand, and Noel would be the same any time mischa smoked a cigarette in front of him (although this would have a more identifiable reasoning to it)

— if they had to share a bed together, it would result in either one rolling on top of the other, or one rolling on to the floor

—would 100% be the type to own a cat together as a sign of commitment

—one night before they were officially friends, Mischa randomly blurted out the thought of him and Noel getting matching tattoos together… it was never brought up since, however they’re still planning on it (this one is special to me cuz one friend made a drawing based off of it, and the other made a fanfic based off of the drawing)

— they would be one of those annoying couples who won’t directly do PDA, but get close enough that everyone would know why they wanted to take a bathroom break at the same time… if that makes any sense

—I feel like Noel would be the type to make mischa confess feelings first, just due to the fear of his luck making him lose their friendship over it

—mischa helps noel learn other languages, and Noel helps mischa in English class… many of these tutoring sessions end in whoever was being taught at the time flirting their way out of answering a question

— if they were to become end game, I don’t think they would have any kids, however I do think they would be absolutely extraordinary honorary uncles… like whoever’s child is lucky enough to know them would be spoiled shitless

—if they had to sit next to each other in class, Mischa would constantly be whispering the most random shit in Noel’s ear, and tapping his leg under the desk… naturally giving Noel impatience and butterflies 

—mischa has permanent little spoon syndrome… like to the point where even if noel wanted to try being the little spoon he would immediately reverse the roles again

—they would have days where they just go over to Noel’s house, and yell at the tv while watching either poorly written soap operas, or shitty reality tv…

—I don’t know exactly how to word this in order to make my point, but I feel like although he’s the more stereotypically masculine one, mischa is the more overall submissive role in the relationship (not even like- sexually, just in general when it comes to their day-to-day dynamic, personalities, and decision making)

—mischa will take surprise selfies of the two at the most randomly generated moments, and the one time noel managed to successfully get him back for this he immediately made it his phone wallpaper and got a printed out version

For someone talking about deconstructing the gender binary, you really are reinforcing it with this post. I know that you did not mean to, but you *did*.

You are implying that men cannot wear 'women's' clothing. That there are 'men's' things and 'woman's' things, that gender non-conformity from 'men's' things makes someone not a man.

When a transgender man makes a post saying that they feel represented by a characters gender expression, it is not really appropriate to respond to that by saying, 'Well, this stuff makes him not a man actually!'

You responded to his post saying those experiences of his manhood he saw in Crowley are not something men are capable of doing.

I am a man who wears women's clothes and looks androgynous. And I really, really ask that you consider not saying that doing those things makes people not men.

You can interpret Crowley however. But I view him personally as a transgender man *because* his gender expression is just like mine, and none of those things you listed are things men cannot do.

Crowley is canonically nonbinary and has been since 1990.

And I find it awfully funny the number of people who insist he’s “actually male” when it’s been in the text ever since the book, and Neil has stated multiple times that Crowley is not a man.

One way this is shown is by occasionally having him show up as a woman (Golgotha, Nanny Ashtoreth), and one is by having him wear women’s clothing. You can yell all you like about how there’s no such thing as gendered clothing, but the fact is, this show is being made in 2019/2022, when there are in fact men’s and women’s sections and wearing clothes associated with the opposite gender is, in case you hadn’t noticed, under attack because it’s bad to play with gender and be trans/nonbinary/both.

Maybe instead of yelling about “how dare you recognize this common shorthand!” you should ask yourself why it bothers you that genderqueer and nonbinary people got some representation who’s just out here living his life and not being A Very Special Episode.

Hannah Gadsby drops lineup of Netflix special Gender Agenda

“The last time Netflix brought this many trans people together, it was for a protest. So, progress,” Hannah Gadsby jokes in their new genderqueer comedy special Gender Agenda.

The Australian comedian signed a big deal with Netflix in 2022, after publicly slamming the streaming service for its handling of celebrity transphobe Dave Chappelle.

But at the time, Hannah, who uses they/them pronouns, had a request: that Netflix create a stand-up special featuring genderqueer comics from around the world.

That project is now titled Gender Agenda, and arrives on Netflix on March 5 with Hannah hosting and a lineup of seven performers.

They are Jes Tom, Alok, Asha Ward, Chloe Petts, DeAnne Smith, Krishna Istha and Mx Dahlia Belle.

Jes Tom has written for queer favourite Our Flag Means Death and recently wrapped the Elliot Page-presented one-person stage show Less Lonely.

Alok headlined the NYC Comedy Festival in 2021, and has appeared in Cara Delevigne’s Planet Sex and Netflix’s Getting Curious with Jonathan Van Ness.

Asha Ward is best known for being Saturday Night Live‘s youngest-ever writer.

Chloe Petts is currently touring standup show If You Can’t Say Anything Nice.

DeAnne Smith featured in Netflix’s Comedians of the World and is a regular on the Australian comedy festival circuit.

Krishna Istha was a writer for Season 4 of Sex Education and is currently working on a trilogy of performance pieces about trans motherhood.

Mx Dahlia Belle founded the Portland Queer Comedy Festival and took on Dave Chappelle in a high-profile open letter in 2021.

Hannah Gadsby told Variety, “There is such a wealth of brilliant genderqueer comics out there, but such a dearth of representation on the major streaming services.

“Meanwhile jokes about trans people are becoming more and more lucrative.

“So it seems only right that at least some of those jokes be told by actual trans people themselves.

“I am beyond thrilled to bring this lineup together, showcasing seven extraordinarily talented comics and to use my platform (and Netflix’s…) to hopefully help catapult them into the spotlight that they deserve.

“They (and I mean ‘they’ in every sense of the word) are some of the funniest, smartest genderqueer comedians from around the globe, and it was an utter delight and true honor to share the stage with them.”
