I'm being holding hostage by a Pyramid Scheme since I know myself, let me Tell You'll.
Hannibal started It, and the I was watching Supernatural, after that It began with others shows with couple who look likes these two shows before, and now, I'm can see that all the way come back to where I Begin, because I started seeing K-dramas with a Hannibal relationship like.
That lead me to make a list with dramas, and I pass by a C-drama, that lead me to the way back when I watched these shows with heavy "bromance". All starded the same year, because these C-dramas where from all the same year, I came back to them and to watch more.
It's all intertwined, and the nostalgia feeling is crushing me.
(and not ALL shows in this Scheme where about a gay relationship, but one person in the show make me watch more shows because they're in, or Just because it's make Sense to watch the show after watching these other show)
(I can't put more tags, but have more, feel free to prolong the list guys)

A Bit of Appreciation for Voice Actors
Initially wanted to post this on reddit, but for some reason I can't so what the heck.
It's a well-known fact that many Cdramas, usually period dramas, are dubbed by voice actors. I'm probably an outlier here in that I'm not a diehard Cdrama fan (have only watched NiF, TU and Empresses in the Palace to completion, great shows btw) and I'm more of a Chinese audio drama listener. So while there is overlap in these industries and fandoms, I'm way more interested in the voice actors than the live action actors. And since they don't get as much recognition here I'd like to give a shoutout to them.
I like to joke that there are like 30 people in the Chinese voice acting industry. Once you recognize some of them you'll start to hear them in everything. According to an AvenueX video it's apparently a bad habit of Cdrama land to cast the same popular voice actor to all the leads, thereby making their voices indistinguishable. I initially noticed this with Bian Jiang for a time, who voiced Lan Wangji in The Untamed (and the MDZS donghua) and the ML from Ten Miles of Peach Blossom among other things. I remember just noticing him in nearly everything I watched from then on.
Another standout voice actor I've noticed recently is Gu Jiangshan who voiced Zhou Zishu in Word of Honor and Jin Zixuan in the MDZS (aka TU) donghua. Didn't really take note of him in those roles until I listened to him as Yuan Yang in the Beloved Enemy audio drama (there's also a Cdrama but he's not in that). He's really good in that. Like really good. I would have hated the red flag ML way more if it weren't for his voice acting. Side note, an Indonesian fan sent their regards to him during a fan signing and he was so surprised to learn he had overseas fans, which I think is so cute given that I am now one of those fans.
Another thing is I don't think live action dramas are the best medium to bring out these voice actors' skills, though I am happy it keeps them employed haha. It's not really to do with acting ability, but different mediums require different skills, and for voice acting, matching their performances to the actors must come with its own challenges. This is why I prefer audio dramas, as they have more freedom. A go-to example I have is that one devastating scene from The Untamed (I know, there are so many). Keep in my mind that Wei Wuxian in the live action and the audio drama are voiced by the same guy and just listen to thedifference. I wanted to cry the first time I listened to the audio drama.
All in all, I'm not uplifting one style of acting over another, though I do have my preferences. I just like good stories and appreciate those stories being delivered in the best way possible.

Note
Hi absolutebl, our most reliable source of all things BL ;). Such a big fan of your blog, and thank you so much for contributing to the fandom in such a healthy and positive way. Sorry for the long ask: but do you by chance have any thoughts on "bromance" as a genre? Like, do you watch it? Do you have recommendations? Are you a fan of it? I'm sorry if it's an inappropriate question (you are absolutebl after all, this might not be your cup of tea). It's just that sometimes I find myself drawn more to the chemistry of some current bromance series out there than the currently-airing BLs (but that's just my preference. Maybe I just prefer the low heat, old school types). I mean, I actually do like high heat BLs, but some bromance series really just blow me away with plot and chemistry that I don't mind the romance as subtext only (I just finished Japan's Kei x Yaku and Korea's Beyond Evil and both just BLEW ME AWAY. It was intense in the best way. And China's Untamed will always be a special favorite). Any thoughts? Thank you in advance!
BROMANCES
Hi and thank you, I'm flattered!
Ah I have watched some, but in general since we have so many more actual BL options now, I don't bother anymore. They mostly just piss me off either way.
I tend to intentionally ignore them - censoring the censors, so to speak.
I have a few posts tangential to this though:
Tumblr media
Devil Judge & Korean Bromance Stuff
BL fandom picked up on Devil Judge, why?
devil judge, hallyu wave bromances, & non BL K-dramas
BL tropes deployed in The Devil Judge (2021)
Devil Judge... is it queerbaiting?
Tumblr media
Word of Honor & Chinese Bromance Stuff
Word of Honor
Chinese mf censorship, fight me
Mainland China Censorship Be Like…
Tumblr media
Some of the ones I guess I’d call bromances that I’ve watched:
Untamed (20 ep BL cut)
Word of Honor
S.C.I. Mysteries (actually one of my first BLs/bromances in general)
Find You In The Crowd
Love is Not Easy to Have
Swinging Blossom
The Fairy Fox
Beloved Enemy
His Cat
Till Death Tear Us Apart
Advance Bravely (this is more just censored BL)
Mr. CEO is Falling in Love with Him (same as above)
Legend of Long Yang
Customized Companion
Glass Heart
Past Youth
River Knows Fish Heart
Guardian
Mermaid's Jade
Broken Youth
Youth in the Breeze
Capture Lover
Precise Shot
Every Moment that I Think of You
My Esports Genius Brother
In Your Heart
There’s a bunch of early stuff out of China that is just barely censored, in that they don’t kiss (like the ghost boyfriend series), but it’s a lot more obviously gay than post 2016.)
I don’t keep track of the bromances from Korea (like At A Distance, Spring is Green) or Japan (with a few exceptions like Silhouette of Your Voice which is a yaoi adaptation) because they piss me off even more than China. It feels so cowardly. Or those wish side nods like Moment at Eighteen
It’s pretty simple...
if, if the characters were het and would have kissed in the drama under those circumstances, but they don’t because they are a same sex couple - I get really mad about it.
And I’m unable to get over that anger. Because the anger feels justified.
All that said, if you are someone who really doesn’t mind the great long con tease with no pay out these are the ones I liked despite myself:
Tumblr media
Recommended Bromances (in order)
Word of Honor
The Devil Judge
The Guardian (super under appreciated but a TON of fun)
Untamed
S.C.I. Mysteries (if you like police procedurals)
Advance Bravely
Capture Lover
River Knows Fish Heart
Precise Shot
Beloved Enemy (IF you come out of yaoi and don’t mind some seriously triggering tropes)
Legend of Long Yang (this is kinda the precursor to Untamed & WOH)
I have not seen Japan's Kei x Yaku (I had spies reporting in on it and decided not to bother, since it was also difficult to get hold of). I have see Korea's Beyond Evil and I am afraid I didn’t get the bromance subtext as much as you, and others, have. I guess the actors didn’t work for me?

RIP David Leland (20.4.1941 - 24.12.2023)
"As I’d left school with no qualifications at all, I was searching for something that I could do that didn’t involve qualifications. I couldn’t go to art school because you had to have an O or A level in art but I discovered that you didn’t need any dreaded qualifications to go to college to study to become an actor and I thought, yes! There we go! I was born to be an actor!"
"I think the writing started during the time I was training to be an actor. We were taught what was known as the Laban Carpenter psychology of movement, theory of movement. It had a language, a jargon attached to it, and we were encouraged to write scenarios – Al Pacino talks about this - which would give you a sensation of how other people behave. We would write scenarios and then perform them to each other and writing became a kind of secret obsession."

If you’re hoping to provoke me, harm me, lie about me, or be apart of seeing me fall down and struggle,
I’m praying you get on your feet, you find peace, you received blessings, God is with you and forgives you and gives me His grace to help me give it to you.
I wasn’t raised to harm others. What we do on this earth we will answer to God for.
We are not the same.

CEO Boyfriends BL
CEO Boyfriends is a pretty specific trope to Asia, and Cdramas love it best (irony). In the west, we have a similar trope more commonly called “billionaire boyfriend.” The difference is that the CEO version implies a strong office setting. While the billionaire trope implies a wealth barrier and display. Don’t get me wrong, they intersect and pretty much crossover (both implying a power differential), but there is a subtle difference in audience expectations.
Tumblr media
However, these aren’t common in BL.
Partly because BL tends to skew towards younger characters.
Partly because the funding requirements to properly execute this kind of character (and meet audience expectations) is prohibitively expensive for BL.
And finally because Thailand dominates BL, and they don’t really care about this trope. (Nor, for that matter, does Korea, our up-and-comer.)
I should add: CEO also often is ties to the “plucky/long suffering heroine” trope (AKA cinderella) and the “competency porn” trope (which is the idea that a person is attractive partly because they are very very good at something in a professional sphere).
BL With a CEO Theme/Aspect
Warning, a lot of these are not very good.
CHINA
Tumblr media
Irresistible Love: Secret of the Valet & Irresistible Love 2: Uncontrolled Love (2016) - Exists in 2 parts/movies, 2nd movie has two alternate endings: a kinda happy and a definitely NOT happy, usually found grey on YT. I not-so-secretly love this BL: Kidnapping, whipping boy, obsession, mutilation, very hard fought happy ending. Absolutely classic Chinese BL pre-censorship. It's a wild melodramatic ride.
Mr. CEO is Falling in Love with Him (2017 censored) - I actually kinda like this but it is very much censored. It has themes of revenge, salvation, infiltration, and domesticity. Hard to find and the rip is terrible. It’s clear it was filmed as a gay romance and then severely cut - like Advance Bravely.
Capture Lover (2020 censored) - the ending is a touch confusing but basically this is the rich kid seme with nothing better to do, put to work in an office, falls hard for the strict boss, moves himself in and aggressively seduces him. Like a grown up Addicted. (Features Han Jing Chen, China’s Singto.)
TAIWAN
Dark Blue and Moonlight (2017)
Tumblr media
HIStory 3: Trapped (2019) - it’s mafia, not CEO, but has a lot of the same tropes including flaunting his wealth, taking baby shopping, and NICE suits.
Because of You (2020) - it’s not QUITE there because it’s sort of more a messy soap of 3 rich brothers, but it has some of the tropes.
Tumblr media
More?
Some that don’t specifically quality as a CEO romance but are office set boss/subordinate or rivals, and might satisfy the itch around this power dynamic.
Beloved Enemy (China 2017)
Ossan's Love (Japan & Hong Kong)
Docchi Mo Docchi AKA Same Difference (Japan 2014)
My Day (Pinoy 2020)
My Lascivious Boss AKA ÔNG CHỦ, ĐỪNG ĐẾN ĐÂY (Vietnam 2021)
There was one other Pinoy BL that tried this trope but it was truly terrible and I DNF’d blocked it out of my mind.
What Zabb Man (Thailand 2022)
Cutie Pie (Thailand 2022) - this is more the billionaire BF trope
Hope this helps.

Hi! Would you be able to do a hero x villain scene with a villain that's used to trapping their opponents socially but the hero would rather just ignore that and punch them in the face, and the villain is kind of in love and kind of murderous?
The villain staggered back at the force of the punch with a groan of pain. They cupped a hand to their bloody nose.
The villain's various soldiers and lackeys immediately moved to restrain the hero.
"No." The villain held out their other hand. "No."
The lackeys froze, uncertain.
The hero, well-prepared for the possibility of fight, paused too. They shook out their fist, shoulders squared.
"Nice left hook," the villain said, straightening slowly. When they dropped their hand, the break had already healed, leaving only the blood.
"Fuck you."
"Yes, that might help your anger issues."
The hero scoffed. "I don't have anger issues, I just don't like being backed into a corner. I told you what would happen."
"Mm. That you did." The villain's head tilted. "Bold move."
"Clear communication. Do I need to do it some more?"
The villain grinned, letting their blood drip grotesque and feral across their teeth. They took a swaggering step forward, even as they neatly adjusted their outfit and rumpled hair back to the veneer of polite society. It didn't reach their eyes. Their eyes had that wild quality too, burning bright and fierce with something that the hero couldn't quite read.
"People generally prefer me when I keep things civil," the villain said. "It's neater. Safer for everyone involved."
"You mean, people normally cave because they're scared of you?"
"And you're not."
"If there's going to blood, let there be blood. I won't be bullied. Certainly not by the likes of you."
The villain laughed, a soft and rumbling danger. They swiped their tongue across their teeth, cleaning the blood away, and closed the distance with another step.
Apparently, they hadn't learned the dangers of getting too close.
The hero swung.
That time, the villain dodged, driving their knee deep into the hero's gut.
The hero doubled over, wheezing.
The villain caught a fistful of their hair, using the grip to smash the hero's face in one startlingly deft movement, before tipping the hero's head back before the blood splattered across the floor.
The whole room had gone quiet; focused in on the two of them. Someone had cut the music.
The villain grinned again. "So pretty."
The hero spat blood at them, but the villain didn't seem to mind. In the next instant, the hero had wrenched themselves free with an expert move.
The two of them circled.
The villain did not have a reputation for violence, or at least not for getting their hands dirty. They were a sleek monster, crafted of fine clothes and the clink of glasses and clever words in the shadowy backrooms that ruled the world.
"You're right," the villain said. "I do prefer less...crude games, than this. We're a civilized species. We should know better. Do not mistake my distaste for incapability, though."
The hero snarled. "Silvered words doesn't make what you do less ugly."
"A moral high ground doesn't make you less of a brute, gorgeous."
"I'm not a brute, you condescending-"
"-temper, temper." The villain's voice was a purr. "Have I struck a nerve?"
The hero lunged.
The villain dodged.
They circled again, more evenly matched than the hero had expected. They'd thought a hard hit, the possibility of real danger, would reveal the villain's sniveling heart. The cowardice at the core of so many powerful, evil people.
"You owe me an apology," the villain said. "I was having a perfectly lovely time. If you give me one now, like a good little hero, this doesn't have to get...unpleasant."
"Your face is unpleasant. Everything about you and what you do is unpleasant. I'd rather not lie."
The villain's eyes flashed, a mix of rage and desire. Then, their power lashed out. The windows shattered. People screamed. People fell.
The hero stared around the room, horrified.
"Far be it from me to deny a guest," the villain said, drawing their power back to themselves. "Let there be blood."
The fight escalated from there.
