the specific Naboo religious sect that Padme belonged to believed very strongly in reincarnation
so the first time Darth Vader is introduced to Princess Leia of Alderaan once her father finally relents and allows her to take over his position in the Senate, when he takes note of her resemblance and looks up her birth date, his first thought is not "Padme's daughter survived"
it's "Padme reincarnated as the Princess of Alderaan"
he finds this conclusion fitting, and of course immediately pledges his loyalty to her
Leia doesn't know what this menace to society's deal is, and honestly doesn't care, and decides to use this to her advantage by telling her father
Bail, of course, is biting his nails thinking that Vader has figured them out, but thankfully no
this is about the time that Sabe and her fellow handmaidens show up, so Vader introduces them to Leia and they all naturally reach the same conclusion
when Ben distantly senses the disturbance in the Force and drags the whole Lars family off to come investigate, Darth "Anakin Is Dead" Vader takes one look at young Luke and doesn't even try to ask about his birth date (or, conveniently, his last name) before assigning him as "Anakin Skywalker Reincarnated"
Ben, hidden in the next room with Bail, is face-palming as hard as possible to try to distract himself from that particular shit show
and now that 'Padme' and 'Anakin' are in the same room, Vader of course tries to ship them, with Sabe's passive support
Bail, sweating: maybe,,, we should not encourage that,,,
Vader: Why.
Bail, full of hypocritical shit: uh,,, he's not suitable, for the future Queen of Alderaan
which only serves to offend Vader, because what, Baby Me isn't good enough for Baby My Wife now?
so Bail throws in a faked relationship with a certain spice freighter captain he hired on the spot to fill the role of his daughter's secret boyfriend
before Vader can get upset about Baby Padme dating someone who isn't Baby Anakin, Sabe eyeballs this dude with no official birth records and asks, what DID happen to Kenobi? or maybe that Captain Rex fellow from the war?
causing Bail to nearly stroke out, as he KNOWS that neither of those men are even dead, and in fact one of them is choking on his spit in the other room as he listens in!
(this fake-dating effort additionally backfires, not that anyone realizes it yet, because both twins start actually dating this scruffy-looking nerf-herder)
of course Vader immediately questions why Sabe suggested that Captain Solo might be Kenobi, and got hit with Sabe's "well, Skywalker was always psychosexually fixate on Kenobi, and all of us knew he was the hot one even if Padme settled for Skywalker"
Vader: ...What. Was that thing you said. About Skywalker.
Sabe: yeah, Skywalker literally couldn't shut up about the guy, even while he was having sex with his wife, luckily she was into that if you know what I mean
Vader: ...
Vader: no, that is the perfectly normal level of interest to have in Kenobi
Sabe, remembering the way Darksiders always seemed to fixate on Kenobi: ...uh-huh, riiiight
Vader decides he's Not Dealing With That, and pours that energy into his fixation on Finding Kenobi in order to kill him about it
Ben, one too-thin wall away, is seriously considering letting that happen so he doesn't have to hear any more of this
but, of course, eventually Sidious notices Vader's interest in the young Senator Organa
and Sheev Palpatine was, interestingly enough, from the same sect as Padme
which means that he quickly puts together what Vader has concluded about Leia as a reincarnation of Padme Amidala
but unlike Sabe (and Vader, who has seriously deluded himself), he is keenly aware that Anakin Skywalker can't have actually reincarnated into that farm boy who's spending all his time with the Senator now
so he's able to (correctly, for once) conclude that Luke must be Anakin and Padme's kid, who somehow survived all these years
and since the child survived...
well, he starts to eye Sabe a little more closely, and wonder how he can fit this into his plans for the galaxy...

According to leaks awhile ago Disney was possibly entertaining the notion of somehow reviving Kylo Ren/Ben Solo in a future movie. I would definitely be here for it. One of the things that many star wars fans loved about the EU was the Skywalker Family drama & lineage. Hell my first ever Star Wars story reading was the Cade Skywalker stories.. Disney has already shown and made it clear it's not bringing back old concepts in the same way. I feel Bringing back Ben Solo and having him and Rey establish the Skywalker lineage in this new continuity would be a great salvage. Hell probably would make the lineage stronger 😅. Not to mention a lot of fans loved Mara Jade and Luke Skywalker relationship. So the Ben & Ren story could also serve to fill that void. Not to mention the lack of power Luke was in comparison to his legends self. In this way this New Ben Solo could be what Luke was to Legends. Meaning this overpowered Skywalker Jedi Grandmaster. It's said the George Lucas mentioned that Luke was what Anakin could've become had he been whole and not half cyborg 😅. In this new canons we have Anakin fell and due to injuries couldn't fulfill his potential.. Luke gave up being a Jedi for a decade+(Seemingly in Canon he didn't achieve even half as much as he did in legends) ..So Ben Solo to me (with fully functioning limbs + being a practicing Jedi for decades)could finally be that character in modern canon.
How would they bring him back. Listen Anakin is a literal chosen one who was created by the force 😂. Have either him or the force bring back Ben as a act of balance for the force😅.
With Grogu being able to live a long time + a New Skywalker lineage their will be countless new star wars stories to tell . Hopefully Disney takes it more serious when planning the future movies💯

Help I accidentally started rewriting a sequel trilogy to star wars in my head bc I hate disney
So Lucas actually wrote an outline for the sequels and what we know of it is a MUCH more natural progression of the story. Luke is attempting to rebuild a jedi order, while Leia is attempting to rebuild a republic, but neither are going to happen overnight. The galaxy has fallen into chaos and crime lords are vying for power in the vacuum as the republic organizes. Scattered empire influence remains to be squashed, and somewhere in those circles of crime syndicates lies a much darker influence - Maul. None of this is me - it's all Lucas. I wouldn't change a bit of it.
Leia and Han Solo have 3 children, as they did in the eu sequels - twins Jaina and Jacen Solo, and the youngest boy, Ben Solo. All 3 are studying under Luke, and they each possess unique skills. Jaina is a remarkable pilot and mechanic like her father, uncle, and grandfather, but she tends to prefer machines to people - they're simpler and easier to understand than the complicated emotions and drives of people - and can seem cold as a result, even though it aids her understanding of the force through humanizing droids and lower life forms. Jacen is strongly gifted in the force, but that talent makes him arrogant and easily bored and frustrated with training, like his grandfather, not aided by a brackish rogue spirit like his father. One thing everyone can agree on is both twins have their father's mouth. Ben is wise beyond his years and has a natural affinity for jedi teachings and politics, like his grandmother, mother, and uncle, but is stubborn and possesses his mother's righteous temper, and can sometimes even seem authoritarian when frustrated enough. None of them are very good at following rules and often wind up in wild adventures when they find reasons important enough to break them. Very much a 2 boys 1 girl trio to follow through the story (reflecting Luke, Leia, Han/Anakin, Padme, Obi wan/ what they half heartedly tried to do with Rey, Poe, and Finn)
Luke has studied ancient jedi texts ("the sacred texts!"), reviewed as much surviving documentation as he can of the jedi order of the old republic, and is slowly encountering more and more force sensitive children. But putting that all into practice, he is quickly realizing the pitfalls that led to the destruction of the jedi order and struggling to grapple with them. How do you a train a new generation without tearing them from their family? How can he forbid attachment when he himself holds so tightly onto family and friends? How can that be a path to the dark side when that's exactly how he stayed in the light and redeemed his father? He finds himself growing angry with Ben Kenobi and Yoda, who often visit during his regular meditations. He doubts his wisdom, fears he's accidentally leading his students down a darker path, and wonders if the jedi should remain extinct after all, and if their teachings should die with him.
Darth Maul is growing old, and knows his crime syndicate will crumble with infighting upon his death, and sith teachings while die with him as well if he doesn't find an apprentice to pass them down to. While he couldn't enact revenge against Kenobi for the loss of his legs directly, the perfect revenge against Kenobi's last surviving apprentice, and the last remaining jedi at that, would be to corrupt and steal an apprentice from his own lineage.
Sensing the trouble, Anakin has one last lesson to teach his son. They haven't spoken since his death. They haven't seen each other since the celebration following the Battle of Endor. Anakin is unlike the other masters who've learned to retain form in the Force. Luke senses this, but is much more interested in his insight into the failings of the Jedi order and how that led him to the Dark Side. Anakin sees many forces repeating themselves in similar ways, but the nature of the Force is cyclic. It's always trying to keep a balance. The only way to avoid the worst of history is to retain its balance. To retain balance in the Force, one must embrace all sides of it.
It's here Anakin demonstrates what sets him apart from the other Force Ghosts - he's a master of the Dark and Light sides, and while his intentions are wise and good, he is not afraid to use Vader to drive home a hard lesson. It's only through a fight Vader can reignite Luke's conviction, and with it the unwavering hope that redeemed his father. The jedi were wise but closedminded, and that blinded them to basic truths and let to tragedy. If this new jedi temple is to survive and avoid the mistakes of its predecessors, it must take lessons from both sides and embrace a balance, especially if Luke is save his niece and nephews from a fate like Anakin's.
Also Boba Fett survived and took over Jabba's territory, but has a vendetta against Han Solo and wants that man's head on a platter (or re-encased in carbonite). While Han's past as a smuggler provides needed insight for the republic into criminal circles, he's a particularly wanted man.
Leia's a tragically hands off mother by necessity with the state of the galaxy, though she loves her children fiercely. It's an easy decision to leave them in Luke's care, away from the worst of the conflict, and hopes to be able to bridge the gap when her responsibilities allow. In a brief quiet period of following the Battle of Endor, Luke began to train her first, realizing Force sensitivity is a large part of what makes her such a naturally fierce politician. Leia had to stop to take charge, though not before acquiring a few jedi skills, such as being able to attune to her senses purposely or employ a few mind tricks, that help her in the political and military arenas (perhaps even how to swing a light saber in a pinch - because let's face it, we've all wanted to see her wield a saber).

Loving all the commentary on the Obi-Wan Kenobi finale! One thing I'll add into the mix -
"I am not your failure Obi-Wan. You didn't kill Anakin Skywalker. I did."
While I do like the idea that this is Anakin taking responsibility for his choices/consequences, I primarily interpreted this as the Darth Vader Sith consciousness saying it permeated Anakin's consciousness. That Darth Vader won in the battle for Anakin's soul. To me this is a more comprehensive understanding of what the Sith are. They're not only their choices, but they are a seduction. They are a consciousness that permeates and overtakes an individual, their body, and their will. That doesn't mean those who fall weren't susceptible or went along with the fall, but it solidifies the power of the Dark Side into more than a single choice. It speaks to the grooming. It speaks to how suffocating it is to concede to the Dark Side.
This interpretation also underscores how Anakin fell so quickly in ROTS. In a matter of hours he goes from being terrified and horrified that Palpatine is revealed to be the Sith Lord to killing younglings, harming his wife, and attacking Obi-Wan. Literally, it takes like 12 hours for him to fall completely. If the Dark Side has a consciousness that overtakes and suffocates Anakin, it completes the arc of how and why he fell, and why walking away became harder and more isolating over Darth Vader's reign.
It also correlates to Obi-Wan Kenobi's line in A New Hope: "A young Jedi named Darth Vader, who was a pupil of mine until he turned to evil, helped the empire hunt down and destroy the Jedi knights. He betrayed and murdered your father." A different presence overtook Anakin - he was not solely himself anymore, if he was at all.
It also better articulates Ben Solo's misguided rage and overwhelm as Kylo Ren.
In both cases, defeating the Sith presence in them couldn't absolve their sins, but it could restore the honor and memory of the self that came before the fall.
And so both can be true: Anakin failed Anakin and made choices that compromised those critical parts of himself that could thrive in the good. But Darth Vader also struck down Anakin every time there was a possibility that Anakin survived. Quietly, but sure.
And, ultimately, it was attachment, compassion, and love that defeated the Sith consciousness. That which the Jedi feared but the Sith feared most. For Anakin, it manifested in Luke. For Ben, it was Rey. It also gives more credence to the "there is still good in him" line that ripples throughout the saga. Because the Sith are powerful, but not powerful enough to fully destroy those formed by and called to love. Anakin, Padme, Luke, Leia, Obi-Wan, Ben, and Rey. Redemption is possible where there is love, compassion, and hope.
This episode was a work of art. Thank you, Deborah Chow, Ewan McGregor, and Hayden Christensen for this gorgeous gift of storytelling and character nuance.
...gonna go sob again now 😭😭😭

If you could write your own or even rewrite a SW story or character arc and have then be canon which or who would it be and how would you do it?
OH OH OH I have SUCH a good idea for an original Star Wars storyline that I honestly am going to keep it to myself because I might want to turn it into an original novel one day.
I think SW has the dad-and-kid trope (so many characters), the Cliched Love Story trope (many characters), the Classic Monster trope (Vader), the Man and his Dog trope (Chewie and Han... yes, Han is the dog)... but what it is missing is another pivotal trope which appeals to a subset of the audience that they have yet to tap into and seem to have trouble tapping into.
So... DLF if you're listening, hire me! haha
But otherwise I think one thing I really would have liked, although I understand why they did it in RotJ, is to alter Anakin's helmet-less Vader design. Like I really would have liked to see Luke burn Anakin's body in a different part-Jedi, part-Sith costume, rather than inside the shell of Vader. I think it would've been a great opportunity for them to visualize this "Third Body" ... not the Angel Anakin, or the Demon Vader... but the soul inside who is balanced, both, and finally at peace. I definitely would've made some cool costume adjustments there. Maybe when they reshoot some RotJ scenes (heard they were doing that) for the Ahsoka series, they will do some adjustments.
There is a lot of great art out there of "reformed Vader" on the internet which I think would be a great starting point. This, for instance, is one of my favorites from the artist Monsieur Charles Design:
Tumblr media
I'd also rewrite the entirely of the subplot of RotJ ... it was utterly awful although I LOVE Ewoks, give Leia something to actually do in RotJ, and alter the slave!Leia storyline and the "wise master" Luke on Tatooine at Jabba's palace storyline... because it is super hokey and honestly silly. It does nothing for Luke's character imo. Leia also deserved to speak to Vader while knowing he was her father - or have some kind of scene showing her reaction to this.
I'd also give Ben Solo/Knights of Ren/Kylo Ren way more backstory, give him scenes with Leia, plant evidence of Rey being a Palpatine all throughout the sequels (or keep her a Nobody), allow Finn to have his own plotline of freeing and liberating the stormtroopers.. there's a lot I would change. I'd also put more Obi/Ani moments in the prequels (something the TCW went and did) and expand upon Obi-wan's insecurity on screen. And lastly, of course, I'd include almost all of Padme's deleted scenes, and give her WAY more screentime with her fellow rebel conspirator Senators, to give her agency away from Anakin's storyline.
And I'd include the awesome OG storyline of her going to Mustafar to slit Anakin's throat, but being unable to because she loved him so much.
I just LOVE how every person with the ability to actually kill Anakin/Vader couldn't. Padme because she loved him, Obi-wan because he loved him, Luke because he loved him, and Sidious because he needed a slave.
Ahhhh... the agony of it.

Any thoughts on Star Wars? The sequel trilogy specifically.
Used to be more obsessed with that franchise than anything else in the world.
Tumblr media
Unlike most it wasn't The Last Jedi or Rise of Skywalker that disenchanted me. I was out after The Force Awakens. What a garbage movie, a soulless rehash of A New Hope that rendered the entire Original Trilogy pointless. Prior to the Disney buyout I was a Star Wars fanatic. I devoured obscure articles on Wookieepedia as a child. Teen me couldn't get enough Star Wars books, even trash like Darksaber. Ben Skywalker and Jaina Solo were my favorite characters from the old EU, and Lucas can seethe to his dying day but I thought Mara Jade was awesome. I watched the VHS tapes of the OT until they broke, and seeing Revenge of the Sith in theaters for my birthday as a kid remains one of my favorite childhood memories. On the original Xbox I must have played the campaigns for Star Wars: Battlefront and the KOTOR games over 20 times. When Disney bought the franchise and announced the reboot, I was sad but as a DC fan who came in with the New 52, I had some hope that maybe this would be a good thing. And hey, Legends actually got a decent ending with the Sith finally being completely destroyed and the Skywalker lineage living on. So I gave Disney a chance, went to see TFA with my family... and walked out depressed.
Now I don't care at all. Somehow I successfully managed to sever the emotional connection I used to have. Doesn't bother me when I see the franchise helplessly flailing about these days. I played Jedi Fallen Order and enjoyed that, I'll probably play the sequel, and that's the extent of my engagement with the franchise these days. My littlest sister is a big fan of Star Wars, or at least the Clone Wars and Sequel Trilogy eras. She likes Ahsoka, Anakin, and Kylo the most. She likes Rey. I don't flip out on her for being "wrong" and enjoying those movies any more than my dad did at me enjoying the Prequel Trilogy which he hates. My dad enjoyed the Mandalorian. I have fun talking Star Wars with them, it's been a blast to see my little sister finally get old enough to play through the KOTOR games. I just don't obsess over Star Wars anymore.
At least with Legends, as dumb as it got, I saw the Luke story I wanted to see of him rebuilding the Jedi and having a family. Legends Luke accomplished what his father could not. Legends Han and Leia got their happy ending despite the heartbreak of Jacen's fate. Their fates in the ST are just bafflingly awful. All three die total failures who accomplished sweet fuck all, in some cases outright regressing from where they were at the end of the OT, and the Skywalker lineage ends in total disgrace while the Palpatine bloodline survives through Rey. Whatever, I guess they'll just retell Legends Luke stories with Rey since they basically soft rebooted the franchise to make her the central replacement for Anakin and Luke. She's the one who actually ends the Sith for good and she's the one who will rebuild the Jedi. Long as my sister enjoys what comes next, I guess I'll just treat the Legends ending as my personal canon and treat the ST as fanfiction.

For the Blorbo etc fandom questions, do Star Wars?
Ok so I meant to do this a long time ago and couldn't find the post with all the questions on it and it showed back up on my dash (lol, dash) so lets do this!
blorbo (favorite character, character I think about the most): PADME AMIDALA. I saw her at nine in TPM and lost my shit and have never been the same. I love everything about her, even though they basically character assassinated her in the last movie. I am very picky about how she is done, though, because I don't think she's this perfect angelic kind soul, I think she more do no harm but take no shit and she's incredibly intelligent and the original idea they kicked around for ROTS where she lured Anakin to Mustafar to kill him bc it needed to be done is more true to her character than what did happen.
scrunkly (my “baby”, character that gives me cuteness aggression, character that is So Shaped): Does the Tooka/Loth cat count? bc I have an obsession. If not, currently its Baby Leia in the Obi Wan show bc dear god they did her perfectly. And also grogu but I think grogu is everyone's scrunkly
scrimblo bimblo (underrated/underappreciated fave): So many! First off, Rose got such a shit end of the stick. I adored her character so much and she would have been so great with Rey if they had been able to share any screen time. I also really love Ahsoka even though a lot of the fandom kind of shit on her, I never felt like she ways a mary sue or boring, she was a greatly developed character and she fit right in with Anakin and Obi-Wan.
I also kind of fell in love with Chirrut in Rogue One and I wish I saw more of him once the hype for that movie died down.
Lastly, Cid from the Bad Batch Show. She's a grumpy, crotchety old lady alien who saves their ass and makes them pay for it and we never see those types in Star Wars. I even based an OC on her as a background character in one of my DA fics.
glup shitto (obscure fave, character that can appear in the background for 0.2 seconds and I won’t shut up about it for a week): Riyo Chuchi! She was such a kick ass character in TCW and we barely got to see her. Also love all the handmaidens for Padme, but especially Sabe. I love Captain Tarpals from the Gungans. And weirdly enough I really like Max Rebo and the two headed announcer from the pod race.
poor little meow meow (“problematic”/unpopular/controversial/otherwise pathetic fave): I am an unapologetic villain lover so obviously Kylo Ren/Ben Solo. I think his character is really tragic and the fandom at large either completely demonizes him or they completely woobiefy him and I like it in the middle. He did some really really shitty things that he shouldn't be off the hook for, but neither do I think the fact that Snoke manipulated him since basically birth and he's never been alone with his own thoughts and his own influence in his entire life until TLJ should be swept under the rug.
I really loved Hux in TFA and the vibe of like stepbrothers who hate each other and compete for Dad's approval with Kylo Ren over Snoke was hilarious. He seemed ruthless and cold and calculating and all of that is very sexy and then . . .they ruined it lol. I have my own version of him in my head that I keep and coo over.
DJ from TLJ is also that perfect mix of kind and self serving and chaotic and I desperately need more of him in any capacity, also Benecio Del Toro is unbelievely attractive.
And you know what, I'm gonna say it: I like Jar Jar Binks. I thought he was funny as a kid, I loved him in TCW especially those episodes with him and Mace Windu and I don't think he deserved quite the level of vitriol he got, he was clearly a fun character for children and the adults can fuck off. Also I quote him all the time
horse plinko (character I would torment for fun, for whatever reason): Probably Hux. I think it's fun to see him lose his cool, like he did with Poe in TLJ. And I am enjoying seeing Obi-Wan a bit of a wreck in his show.
eeby deeby (character I would send to superhell): When I was a kid it was Qui Gon Jinn, haha. If you read the Obi-Wan apprentice books he was such a dickhead, and even in TPM the moment he met Anakin, he just tossed Obi-Wan aside, even his last words were about Anakin, and you could tell it hurt Obi-Wan even though he was supportive of it.
Now it's Bastila Shan from KOTOR, I think she is an incredibly arrogant bitch and I definitely enjoyed turning her to the dark side and then killing her.

I remember pre TROS how Abrams said the ending of TROS was 'hopeful and satisfying'.....and how Ben/Kylo fans were so devastated when he was killed off.
We thought Abrams was deliberately being cruel...and maybe he was. But, I also think that from DLF's skewed perspective....the ending WAS 'hopeful and satisfying.'
Because they believed that making Rey an 'honorary' Skywalker would somehow make up for killing off the real ones. They crystallised it with having Leia as her mentor, teacher and mother figure. By having Luke suddenly becoming her adoring father figure. By having both their FGs smiling on her with love and affection at the end.
By having the death of the real one being the result of saving her....and then having everyone act as if he never existed. As if he served just one reason....to 'give Rey back to the galaxy.'
Heck, Ben finally atones for his father's murder...by 'giving Rey back to the galaxy.'
There actually are people who are cool with this. They argue that Ben achieved what Anakin couldn't, by saving the woman he loved. But that would be perhaps more acceptable if she'd loved him back. She did not.
Not a tear. Not a single mention of him. Just Rey Palpatine calmly accepting his sacrifice as her 'due'. After all - saving the last Palpatine is all the eeeeevil, woman abusing 'Nazi' was good for, wasn't he? What quite a few 'SW' fans have said. Which sadly has led me to genuinely dislike 'SW' fans.
There are those who think the absence of Ben's FG was purely for DLF to bring him back sometime in the future, and that would be great. But no one at DLF has mentioned this. And the official SW wiki has him labelled as dead, dead, dead. They want to move on.
At the end of the day, DLF wanted the SWU....but their OWN characters. Out with the Skywalkers and Solos...in with the 'new'. And what is so ironic is that the character they created as the last Skywalker and then villainised...turned out to be the most interesing of their 'newbies'. And also the most popular. The fact is....yes, quite a few SW fans on forums adore Rey and Finn - especially the latter - but the GA loved Kylo. No amount of 'resetting' an opinion poll on the SW website can undo that. I'm genuinely curious that if they ever do bring back the Trio....for movies, books, comics or live action tv....will they sell?

Excerpt from Hope
I've been skimming through the story since there'll be a few flashbacks in the new chapter of Fire Meet Gasoline so I'll be posting a couple excerpts over the next few days. Below is the solo sibling debriefing when they reunite after learning the truth about Darth Vader.
~
"It's history Ben," I state, having learned more than I could ever wish. "A Sith lord posing as a senator masterminds a series of events and manipulations to make himself chancellor. During which Anakin Skywalker, the chosen one, was found by the Jedi and he promises to keep a close eye on him and he does. Over the years he slowly twists him against Obi-Wan Kenobi and the rest of the Jedi until he personally names a twenty two year old Jedi knight to the Jedi Council as his representative." Ben blinks in confusion, not having had access to the same archives I did whilst completing my studies. "Giving him power that the council wouldn't. A constant voice in his ear promising what his master couldn't until he was as we saw him, on his knees before the Emperor."
"He killed the Emperor," Ben quickly adds. “He only died because the Emperor's lightning short circuited the suit and killed him."
"Really?" I say, caring little for Vader's fate, perhaps making myself more apathetic in Ben’s presence. "Convenient isn't it? That he just got to tap out before facing what he did."
"But not before he could of course give a heartwarming speech to tell Mom that Luke was right about there still being good in him," he says, believing he's successfully stirred the conversation away from Snoke and his voice wavers as he asks "How is she?"
There's mostly anger, but I can feel the slightest concern for her after the riot we saw on Theron.
"She's ruined Ben. There isn't any coming back from this."
"Well she didn't just lie to us she lied to the galaxy," he says and I can't fault that assessment. "It's her own doing, she should have known it would catch up with her sooner or later."
"Perhaps, but she doesn't deserve this no matter her mistakes," I say and he just scoffs.
"Since when do you defend her? She's been an absent mother your entire life-"
The look I give him is enough he shuts up and all I say is "You have no idea what we've been through Ben. None."
"Well I'm not the one who decided to put you up there with her in the senate to bear the brunt of it am I?"
My reply comes back just as sharp. "And if you had half the guts you think you do you would have been facing this with her instead of hiding away from it!"
"I'm not a politician."
"No, you're a Jedi," I say, that word having once held more meaning than it does now. "Like our grandfather was, and look where he's gotten us now."

Anakin Skywalker. It had to be Anakin Skywalker. Why else did the force lift around him like a kriffing sign? Even if it didn't make sense, she could see the pieces of their faces in his. The bridge of his nose like her brother's boyish one and the upturn of her mouth. For the first time, she had looked at someone and saw the map of herself. Sure, Padme looked similar to her, but she had no force signature to run along her soul like a warm blanket or a piece of sandpaper. This was something she had felt before. yet, the brunette could feel cold starlight over cold tendrils of despair and longing. Luke had said he was saved in his death. 'tell your sister that you were right' ran around her head on an average day. Had Vader known the day he had tortured her and blown up the only father that she had ever known? After all, Luke had lost his hand similarly. Luke's mournful look over the spasming hand still lingered for her. It hurt emotionally and physically. Leia was hard headed, but she believed in redemption. She wanted to imagine being the child of a man capable of good. Ben Kenobi wouldn't have surrounded or loved someone completely evil. Yet, the flickers of Bail Organa stabbed her heart like a vibroblade. If he was Anakin and not vader, was she right to fear? To look down on him the way that others did Han. it was confusion. Terror. Longing. A family. She had Padme here who had found her and kept her safe. the memory of how small she felt under the imposing height of Vader. It was vaguely comical to the Skywalker Organa girl thinking that this must have come from his genes. Unless whoever he had convinced to sire a baby as a jedi was a giant. Could he feel it over the bond they were creating? The way her heart leapt at the cage of her chest. Hope was Luke's thing. Boldness with forethought and aggression felt more her brand. Why were those eyes zeroed in on her? The watercolor of Luke's orbs. Maybe it was the missing of him and Han and the rebels that made her dare to dream. The loneliness a cold kiss of its own. Had the force brought her here to kill her at the hands of a handsome sinner who had created her? Or made some sort of clone? The force had always had a crappy sense of humor. Luke had given her the smallest of lessons. It was a painting of hot shadows bathing behind her eyes. Aggression was her usual response here. But the pain and confusion bled into a shock that felt like a cacophonist symphony. When the world of the festival had gone away, the last thing she expected was to be in the arms of what must be a ghost. it had to be a force ghost. Like Ben. Had to be. But Ben had never hugged the twins again. Never pulled them in. She had to have more info. Couldn't scream. Besides, what if this was Vader and he went after Padme? Surely, her Senatorial hero had been despatched by the empire all those years ago. Brown eyes felt heavy as they fluttered. It felt like safety in another life before her mind connected. The face that flickered. An angel or devil. No. Ask questions. A slight flinch shook her body. Not that she wanted to anger him or or put anyone else in danger.Breathe. Though it felt good to be held by someone familiar. There was no hope of grabbing her blaster at this angle. Okay was not a word for her at the moment. Han Solo would be necessary. He'd anger her or worry her into her usually snarling snorlac arrogant self. This place could be too much. "I- I don't know." its less sure than she has ever sounded. The broken girl hidden under general and princess making itself known. "You- You reminded me of someone." That was an understatement. How could this light be anything else?

"Ben Solo didn't had a reason for turning dark, he had a good life"
Okay first of all, i do agree he did good life, and before you come here and start with Han this Leia that, because, they were not perfect parents but-
Han: was the one that help him with insomnia when Ben was just a toddler, Han was the one who stayed with him when he couldn't sleep or stop crying (reminder Ben was chaced by the dark side). Han was so proud of him just for being his son, just because he was lying in his arms, Han was just so excited to teach him what he knew and Ben even wanted to be a pilot like his dad bc he just enjoyed him being around and his father's friends, we even have more sentimental ties to "uncle lando and uncle chewie". Han was so afraid of being a dad but just the moment he hold him Han protect him.
Leia: Leia leave her jedi path just because of the vision of her son dying, she was the one to be with him in important little things about him when he was a baby (like you know basic stuff like first steps, first words etc). She did had a bussy laboral life but she isn't the mother many of ya'll saying she is. Leia felt the dark coming after him since Ben was in her womb, after his birth she tried to protect him from the dark side until her power wasnt enough (REMINDER THAT SHE WAS FIGHTING AGAINST THE FUCKING SITH LORD THAT TURNED THE CHOSEN ONE TO THE DARK SIDE AND ENDED THE JEDI ORDER). She had so much hope for him to return to the light and didn't even cared about anything that happened, she just wanted him back.
Continuating with the main topic, he did had reasons but just because Ben's case was different from Anakin's doesn't mean he shouldn't had fallen to the dark side, With this, I have this concept that he didn't turn to the Dark side the way Anakin did (we all know that he was indeed manipulated by the same fucking man that ab*s*ed his grandson) but he was pushed and throwed to the dark side. Let me explain.
Let me start with Leia's pregnancy: she literally sensed the darkness and the light fighting for him (proves that Ben's light was so strong that it got him out of the darkness for years and sometimes by his own when his mother didn't notice it).
Tumblr media
She literally can feel the darkness watching her and her baby (know we know it was Ben the one they were watching).
Tumblr media
Ben had insomnia/sleeping troubles before turning 4, can you imagine what it should be for a kid? Ben was so much forced sensitive that he could sensed his mother and father fear and preocupation (just as normal parents do and normal children sensed things but plus a child that can sense 10 times more than a regular child) he experiment sensations, feelings, emotions and troubles (lonely, insecurity, preocupation, fear and sleeping problems) that many people don't experience until their teens or aduthood.
Summary: Ben Solo was chaced by a creppy old Sith Lord since the womb, his emotions where manipulated in his moments of weakness and experience fear, self doubt and anxiety before turning 5.
Tumblr media
"The dark side and the light both claimed me for their own the moment I was born, do you know how that feels?"
This quote breaks my hear because even when I thought he did had a choice in that very moment (he didn't killed luke or the padawans and he didn't wanted to kill hennix) he did thought he was the one who caused it and that he didn't had a choice but to be that, a murderer, but it breaks my heart too bc the firts part it's true the dark and light has been fighting from him.
Tumblr media
Then this, again my poor feelings, and again I do think Han and Leia didn't put in him any expectations, LIKE HELL, Han just wanted to travel the galaxy with his son and Leia just wanted Ben to be safe. I do think that his way of looking at things + Snoke manipulation, he came to the conclusion of this (at this point he already knew everything, that his grandfather was Darth Vader one of the most feared Sith Lords, -his uncle the jedi who defeated the Empire and blow up the Death Star, his father the greates pilot of the galaxy and his mother the last Princess of an ancient planet, war general and Republic Senator-)
In conclusion: Ben Solo wasn't a spoiled child making tantrum, he had his own ways very different from his grandfather, even his own parents (again, even thou I do think Ben is his parent's child an Organa-Solo as much as a Skywalker).

Just brilliant tribute to the Last Skywalker story. As the author said: "I wanted to look at not only Ben Solo's life journey but to bring the Skywalker story to a close in a full circle kind of way. We look at the effects the Dark Side had on Ben and the Skywalker family and how much it really ate them from the inside until there was almost nothing left. Ben's life was ruled by resentment and trauma, and it was love that eventually brought him back to the light, just like Anakin."
Incredible monumental work that did what TROS couldn't do: made me cry my heart out. Absolutely must see for all SW fans. Do you guys want the catharsis? No problem, just watch this. ❤❤❤
This is indeed what we should have gotten in TROS. And this is the further evidence of the fact that SW fandom is much more creative and feel things deeper than Disney moviemakers.

TURN IT OFF — PART ONE
Tumblr media
summary — in which a gemini wedding doesn’t go as planned
word count — somewhere around 2.5k
paring(s) — vampire!poe dameron x fem!witch!reader / rey x warlock!ben solo
warning(s) — angst, a wedding, blood
notes — heavily based off of jo and alaric satlzman’s wedding scene from the vampire diaries. also the solo twins are in this so ben and kylo are different people in this
The wedding of Ben Solo and Rey was an event you worked your ass off to plan. Even though you was a witch, a wedding was something you wanted to plan naturally. No magic involved. Being a Gemini witch, however, did have its perks but it have many more disadvantages.
You were not born a twin, however Ben was a twin. They weren't 22 yet, which meant they were safe. But when they do turn 22, Ben and his twin would have to do something called the Merge. It's when two Gemini twins merge their magic. It's a battle of will and power.
The strongest twin will absorb the other twin's magic while the weaker twin dies. Then the victorious twin will lead the Gemini coven until the next line of Gemini twins are born. Now, Ben's twin— Kylo Ren— was put into a prison world because Kylo killed his foster family.
He was a sociopath. And the Gemini's locked him away. Ben and Lysa lived their lives free of Kylo Ren's shadow. Ben met Rey through you and they fell in love. You also had your own fair share of love with Poe Dameron.
You exhaled quietly and rubbed your hands together nervously, looking at the altar you prepared. You were wearing your bridesmaid's dress since you were the maid of honor. The dress was a nice lavender color and nearly touched the floor.
"Hey," A voice said from behind you. You turned around and smiled, already knowing who the voice belonged to. "Hi," You replied. Poe Dameron walked up to you, "You look nervous."
"It's not even my wedding and I'm anxious," You joked, laughing softly. Poe sighed happily and moved a strand of your hair behind your ear, "It's beautiful. Almost as beautiful as you."
You scoffed, "Get your twentieth century pick up lines out of here," You smiled.
"Oh come on, that line would've killed in the 90's," Poe replied.
"It's not the 90's, babe," You countered. You and Poe leaned in for a kiss. Another voice shouted your name, making you and Poe pull away from each other. Ben Solo beamed happily and walked up to his cousin.
"Hey, Ben," You smiled, hugging him.
"It's beautiful. You outdone yourself," Ben replied, hugging you back. You shook her head and pulled away from Ben, "It was nothing."
"So," Ben asked, looking over Poe and you, "When are you two gonna seal the deal?"
"We can't," You said softly. You and Poe looked at each other sadly and then Ben frowned, "Right."He said, "I'm sorry I forgot. He's immortal. And you're not."
"Yeah..." Poe mumbled.
"But that doesn't mean we don't love each other," You said, trying to lighten the mood again. "Right, Poe?" You asked, looking up at him and grabbing his hand.
"Of course," Poe answered, interlocking his fingers with yours.
"I'm gonna go finish getting ready," Ben said, "It's good to see you both." You and Poe smiled and Ben left you two alone.
"We could still do it," You said once Ben was out of earshot. Poe shook his head, "I'm not letting you throw away your magic for me. You love being a witch."
"Yes, but I love you too," You replied, letting go of his hand and turning her body to face him. "And if being with you means I have to give up my magic... Then fine. I'll give up my magic."
"Can-Can we talk about this later?" Poe asked. You nodded in agreement, "Yeah... The-The wedding starts soon... So... I need to go find Rey and make she's ready."
"Hey," Poe said softly, "Just because I don't want to turn you doesn't mean I don't love you." You nodded, "I know. You're just thinking about what would happen after... And I understand. It's risky turning a Gemini witch."
"I love you," Poe said.
"I love you too," You replied. You backed away from Poe and walked down the hallway toward the dressing rooms. You opened the doors and saw Rose fixing Rey's hair.
"Hi," Rose said, looking over her shoulder. You smiled, "Hi." You moved next to Rey, "How you feeling?" You asked.
"Good. I feel fine," Rey replied.
"That's good." You said softly.
"What about you?" Rey asked, "Are you okay? You don't sound happy."
You shook her head and smiled, "It's nothing."
"No," Rose spoke up, "What wrong?"
"It's just... Me and Poe, I guess." You replied.
"Is everything okay between you two?" Rey asked, worried. You nodded again, "Yeah... We're fine. I think we're good."
"You sure?" Rey questioned, "You've been acting weird ever since you agreed to plan the wedding."
"It's just..." You shrugged, "I might not get to do this. So... If I can help my friends do this then... That's enough for me."
"Right," Rose nodded in understanding, "He's immortal and you're not." Rey sighed and turned around, causing Rose to drop her hands from Rey's hair.
"Is that why you're upset?" Rey asked, grabbing your hands. "Because you and Poe might not have the chance to live a normal life?"
"I want a life with him. I really do... But... Normal just seems weird when it comes to our current lives." You answered. You sighed and smiled weakly at Rey, "I'm happy for you."
"I know you're happy for me," Rey replied, "But I know right now you're not happy. Have you talked to Poe about this?"
You nodded, "Yeah... We've talked about it." You shook her head and pulled her hands away from Rey's. "You're getting married. We're not talking about my relationship until after you've said 'I do'." You said.
About an hour later and the wedding was about to start. The sun had gone down and the moon was just rising. You were talking to Poe while drinking a glass of champagne. You finished your glass and waited in the back for the music to start.
Ben was standing by the reverend in the front, waiting for the ceremony to start.
Everyone began finding their seats and you exhaled shakily. "You ready?" Poe asked, handing you a small bouquet of flowers. You nodded and took the flowers from his hands.
"Yeah. Let's do this." You replied. The music started playing and you and Poe hooked your arms together and walked down the aisle. You and Poe unhooked their arms and walked to opposite sides of the altar.
Finn and Rose walked out after them and then did the same thing you and Poe did. After a moment, Rey appeared in the doorway and walked down the aisle. She smiled at Ben as she got closer and he happily returned the favor.
Rey walked up the small flight of stairs and in front of Ben. They turned to each other. "Welcome family and friends on this magical evening," The reverend began. "To the wedding of Ben Solo and Rey. I believe Ben and Rey have prepared their own vows."
Rey turned to you and you stepped forward and took the bouquet of flowers from Rey's hand and backed up again. Rey and Ben grabbed each other's hands.
Ben cleared his throat, "Neither of us should be here right now. We've spent our live dodging fate... And beating the odds. But because we did... I got to meet you. The most beautiful, hilarious, and intimidatingly brilliant woman I have ever known. You've inspired me. You've shown me that happiness is actually something that I can have in my life."
You glanced past Rey and Ben and met eyes with Poe. You smiled at him and he smiled back. "And so," Ben pulled the ring out from his pocket, "I promise to be with you and love you and dodge fate with you..."
Ben picked up Rey's hand and slid the ring up her finger, "For the rest of our lives."
Rey smiled as a single tear rolled down her cheek. Ben beamed at her and Rey couldn't keep her smile back. "Rey?" The reverend asked.
"Oh God," Rey said, "That's gonna be tough to beat." Rey sighed softly and grabbed Ben's hands, "Here goes. You are—"
Suddenly the doors flew open, catching everyone's attention. Kylo Ren stepped into the room and looked around.
"Oh my God," You whispered shakily.
"How are you here!?" Anakin Skywalker shouted, standing up.
"It took my forever, but I finally escaped your prison world," Kylo said.
Ben put a protective arm out toward Rey. "I was gonna wait until the 'till death do us part' bit, but... Seemed a little on the nose." Kylo added.
"Anyways, you all should watch what you put in your drinks. You don't know who could link all the Gemini's together." Kylo pulled out a knife and stabbed his hand. You exclaimed in pain, as did all the other Gemini's in the room.
You looked down at her hand and saw blood coming from her palm, although there was no wound, the pain felt too real. Ben winced and Rey looked at Kylo then Ben fearfully.
"What are you doing?" Katnina Arami asked.
"Isn't it obvious?" Kylo asked, "I'm killing you all." Kylo raised his hand and a loud ringing echoed in everyone's head causing them to scream in pain. Nearly half of the people in the room passed out from the pain. Kylo jerked his hand, causing the window to shatter inwards.
Kylo turned the knife on himself and stabbed himself in the heart. You screamed in pain, as did Ben along with the Gemini's in the room. "No!" Poe shouted. He used his vampire speed to get to you before your body hit the floor.
"Oh my God!" Rose shouted.
"Ben!" Rey yelled.
Poe bit into his wrist and held the open wound to your lips, "Come on, drink it. Come on..." Poe mumbled. You slowly grabbed Poe's wrist and pulled it closer to your mouth, drinking a couple drops of his blood to try and heal you.
Rose rushed down to Ben and Rey and tried to stop the bleeding from Ben's chest. "Why isn't she healing?!" Poe asked, turned to look at Rose.
"I think their lives are linked to Kylo's. Whatever happens to him happens to her and them..." Rose explained, crying softly. "I don't know what to do... I'm sorry."
Poe looked back down at you, "No, no, no, no. You're not dying." Poe said softly, "Not like this."
You coughed up some blood and cried in pain. "It's okay, I'm here," Poe said. Finn hurried to Poe and you as best as he could.
"It's..." You whispered, "It's okay..."
Poe brought you closer to him, "You're not dying like this," He said softly. You slowly moved her hand on top of his, "It's okay..." You managed to say softly, "I love you..."
"I love you too..." Poe replied, moving your hair from your face, "I love you too..." Poe could hear your heartbeat slowing down by the second.
"Ben..." Rey cried, her hands on either side of his face. "I'm sorry..." Ben whispered weakly. You exhaled softly and her hand fell from Poe's and onto the ground. Ben's head turned to the side and he closed his eyes.
"No!!" Rey screamed. Rose wrapped her arms around Rey in a comforting hug.
"Hey..." Finn spoke softly to Poe. Poe shook his head and lifted you up to him, he cried into your shoulder. Finn put a comforting hand on Poe's shoulder while also trying not to cry himself.
Poe pulled away from your corpse and looked around at the damage. There were dead bodies scattered around and glass littered on the floor. Then, you gasped for air and Poe looked down.
Finn, Rose, and Rey turned their heads in confusion. You coughed and groaned in pain.
"Holy crap..." Finn whispered.
"How are you here?" Poe asked softly, cupping the side of your jaw. You winced in pain and Poe saw a glimpse of what looked like vampire fangs.
Then he remembered you died with his blood in your system. "You need human blood." Poe said softly.
"Poe, what just happened?" Rose asked.
"She died with my blood in her system. She's in transition. She needs human blood." Poe said. Rose turned around and offered up her bloody hand, "Here."
Poe gently grabbed Rose's hand and led it to you. You looked at Rose's hand, smelling the blood on it. "It's okay. You need this to survive." Poe coaxed.
You took Rose's hand and licked a stripe of blood on the side of her thumb. Rose pulled her hand away and your eyes turned red and grey veins ran down from the bottom of your eyes.
"Poe?" You asked softly.
Poe helped you sit up. You looked around and barely remembered what happened before you died. You thought this was all a nightmare and you would wake up soon.
"What... What happened?" You asked.
But you were wrong.
"I'm sorry." Poe began, "Kylo came and he... He killed the entire Gemini coven by linking them together with some linking spell."
You shook her head in disbelief. You couldn't believe it. Your family was dead? Your witch coven was dead? Killed by someone you thought they handled a long time ago?
"No..." You shook her head, "No, no, no. You're..." You wanted to say 'lying' but you knew they were telling the truth.
"I'm so sorry, baby..." Poe said softly. Then Poe remembered what it's like being a newly turned vampire. "Hey," Poe said, gently grabbing the sides of your face, making you look at him.
"Listen to me, every emotion you're feeling right now it's heightened. It's bad, I know. You're feeling a lot of pain, right?" Poe asked. Now that he mentioned it, you did feel a lot of pain.
Your chest hurt, physically and metaphorically. Physically from being magically stabbed and metaphorically from your heart aching from losing your family.
Your mouth hurt. It was probably the vampire fangs growing in but damn did it hurt.
What you couldn't feel was your magic. It was the one thing you would have to give up to become a vampire. Your magic. You couldn't be a witch and a vampire at the same time. "But, you're gonna get through it, okay?" Poe added.
You had no idea what to do. You wanted to scream and cry. You wanted revenge. But the person that killed you and the Gemini's was already dead. You needed someone to blame. You thought it'd be easier to blame someone.
But you couldn't find anyone to blame. You pulled away from Poe and turned toward the ruins. You stood up on wobbly legs and Poe helped you stand on your own.
Behind you, Rose, and Finn stood up on their feet and watched the two vampires while Rey stayed by Ben's body. You took a couple steps forward before you turned back around.
"Why did this happen?" You asked, tears falling from your eyes.
"I don't know," Poe replied.
"They're all dead." You said, "My coven... My family. What am I supposed to do now?" You asked.
"I don't know what to do," You continued, "How am I supposed to— They were... I-I can't... I don't know how to..." You trailed off.
You began sobbing as you fell to your knees, overwhelmed with all kinds of emotions. Poe rushed to you and hugged you, bringing you close to him which allowed you to cry into his chest.
"I know... I'm sorry..." Poe whispered, stroking your hair.

Dear Lucasfilm,
This is not satisfying! Making Kylo Darth Vader 2.0 just so that he could die just like Darth Vader? Why? What was the point? To show that the Skywalkers were doomed from the beginning? That Ben Solo couldn't right the wrongs of his cursed bloodline? That's uplifting.
Also, he was redeemed before that! Anakin was redeemed in the moment he saved his son. Ben Solo was redeemed on the Death Star II when he was all alone and the 'ghost' of Han Solo told him it was never too late to do the right thing. (Although, turns out it was! Because you can't be redeemed and live.)
Oh, and Rey wasn't dead? What's with this "near death" bull****? You mean someone could have just taken her to a medical ship or whatever and he wouldn't have to die to save her? There were thousands of ships out there, I'm sure at least a couple of them would have had medical bays. And why did he die healing her if she wasn't dead? (And none of her friends went down to look for her after the battle? What if Ben hadn't survived? Were they just going to leave 'nearly dead' Rey there?)
With Anakin it was fulfilling because Luke had hope that his father could come back to the light, and when he did, it was like Luke's determined faith was the reason, and when he died, Luke mourned his passing, then got to see him in his enlightened Jedi manifestation, and we were "yay, Luke's love saved his father!" It was tragic, but we felt uplifted in the end because there was a meaningful message and proper closure.
With Ben, this is just depressing, because he made all of Vader’s mistakes, then died like him. It's so fatalistic. 🙁

So about TROS... What can I say? Devastated, heartbroken, angry and sad - that's how I feel after watching it. The plot was kinda rushed and looked like they tried to erase what TFA and TLJ have started. Even the characters behaved differently, they were not themselves in this one.
SPOILERS AHEAD, DON'T READ IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED IT YET!!!
I'm not gonna count all the flaws of the script - nothing is perfect. But I have to higlight some major ones so maybe my current emotions cool a bit.
1) Rey is Palpatine's granddaughter? Seriously? Rey who was a perfect example of that blood doesn't matter and you still can be a hero even if your parents are not some legendary family's descendants. It was literally answered in TLJ that her parents were no one, but no, they had to revise this part and try to fit in the wrong piece of the puzzle called Palpatine in TROS through Rey.
2) Ignoring Rose completely. Killing off Hux without any further ado. Force ghosts helping Rey but not Ben Solo even after he was redeemed. Leia's pontless death which could be made so meaningful if it saved her only son. I can continue with the list till tomorrow.
3) Now comes the worst part which makes me seeth with rage. Ben Solo and his unnecessary, meaningless death right after he was redeemed.
No, this will not be a hateful message saying it was awful and how dare you spoil the whole saga by killing off my fav character. No. I just want to ask why? Why are you so keen to avoid a full happy ending? Didn't he deserve to not only be redeemed but also stay alive after years of being manipulated and staying in darkness? Didn't Rey who spent nearly all her life alone deserve to finally be happy with someone who loved her with all his heart. If the only reason was to avoid a cliché of happy ending where everyone lived happily ever after, then I have to let you know that considering the movies released during the past decade, they prove that now such an ending is the most unique one. If it was to highlight Rey as the main character of the trilogy it was still a stupid move. Then don't call it the final chapter of SKYWALKER saga just to ignore and get rid of the last person related to them.
Ben Solo just disappeared in the force... You know, it wasn't even as meaningful as it was with Tony Stark for instance. No one even knows it happened, it's not even as big for the plot as it should be. Even Rey doesn't show much emotion afterwards. She was mourning Han much more expressively after all. It just happened and that's all, everyone carries on, no one even asks.
Considering that it was the final chapter of Skywalker saga he deserved to live and continue Skywalker and Solo legacy as he was the only one left of them. IMHO it was a huge disrespect towards Leia, Han, and Luke who are the backbone of the whole saga and even Rey who tried her best to bring Kylo to the light side and the fans who waited for it for so long. The movie is called The Rise Of Skywalker but for me it left the aftertaste of their downfall. As if they just tried to wipe them off from the saga. Ending doesn't always mean death, if a character lives it doesn't mean you necessarily have to make one more film about him. If you couldn't come up with how to make him interact with other characters after redemption you could just throw them to Anch-To as Rey was glad to do herself initially and just let them live happily ever after.
Rey called herself Skywalker in the end which didn't stir any positive emotions, only another try to justify the title of the film. She is NOT a Skywalker and never will be. She's an independent hero of the saga and had the right to stay as the one and not take someone else's last name or rather hide behind it.
Back to Ben's death. If he lived it would have been such a great message that one can not only change, be redeemed but also carry on after that unlike Anakin who died right after that. Sorry, but Anakin lived a life, had the chances to make his own decisions, wasn't manipulated from birth and after all was already quite injured man whose life was supported by his costume. That's logical for him to die right after the sacrifice and redemption. Ben is another story. You had such a great opportunity to make his story different as children shouldn't always fulfill the destiny of their parents and grandparents. Besides didn't we deserve at least one Star Wars couple who didn't end in tears? Didn't we have enough of those?
The purpose of this message is not to downgrade anyone's work. It's just to show that we're tired of the tragedies. Life itself is quite cruel, tragic and sad. Don't we at least deserve a happy ending in a fairytale like Star Wars. I was so excited about it and now the whole holiday mood is spoiled. And I'm not alone in my opinion.
Although I have to thank the cast for their awesome performance. They did the best with what they were given. Especially Adam Driver. That's another pain of mine as I think what happened to his character he's been working on so thoroughly for 6 years was a huge disrespect towards him. Maybe I'm wrong but I think that's the main reason he doesn't attend most of TROS related events. That's not what was initially planned for his character. But still he delivered it in the best possible way.
After watching TROS I couldn't even cry properly, just wanted to smash something which is so out of my character. Anyway, I guess this pain will live with me and thousands of SW fans forever. May the Force be with us!
