Like when I was younger he was one of my favorite founders and I just realized I literally had forgotten his existence when my cousin asked me about the kite story and I was like ‘…who? OH GOD”
Definitely not ignored, he is just slut shamed now.
Honestly, he is just one of those figures you hear about in elementary school and then just don't ever care about again.

Sam Wilson had spent most of his life in uniform. As a child, he wore the grey slacks, white shirt and red checkered tie of Benjamin Franklin Elementary. To the great dismay of Darlene Wilson, he would often come home with his shirt pocket torn off from playing tag at recess, or covered in all sorts of things from rolling around in the bayou trying to catch tree frogs after school.

I don’t think I ever shared this before. I once posted this photo of ten-year-old Victor attending Ben Franklin Elementary in 1948 to a San Diego facebook group and surprisingly someone who is also in this photo reached out:
“I believe I am in the photo with Victor, 1st boy on the left, James Bertolino. He and I were in 1st through 4th grade together. At this time his family lived in Kensington as he attended Benjamin Franklin and was in my class. Our teacher was Dorothy Krieger. Victor left Benjamin Franklin after the 4th grade, he attended St Augustine after he left.  I became ill one day in class, and left school rather then go to the nurses office. Victor followed me trying to convince me to go back to school. I went on home.  As you can see Victor was huge even as a boy. He always appeared physically to be much older than his actual age. His desk was at the back of the room. He was friendly and did not lord it over anyone. I went over to his house a couple of times and he always was nice to me. We never saw each other after he transferred to St Augustine. The last time I saw him he was standing in front of the Orpheum theater in downtown San Diego. I was across the street, but did not approach him.”

Centralians speak during ACSCU Visayas Zonal Convention
The Association of Christian Schools, Colleges and Universities (ACSCU) held a Visayas Zonal Convention on June 9, 2022 with the Theme: “Shaping a Humane, Just, and Inclusive Society.” The convention was held via Zoom and was hosted by Silliman University.
The meditation was given by Rev. Francis Neil G. Jalando-on, Director for Communications of Central Philippine University. He was introduced by Ms. Grace C. Hughes, President of Fortress College. Before the message, Rev. Cris Amorsolo V. Sian, Senior Pastor, University Church, CPU, gave the opening prayer.
Rev. Jalando-on expounded the theme and that said “what is humane can be found in Jesus Christ. What is just can be found in Jesus Christ. What is inclusive can be found in Jesus Christ.” He shared three main points which are – First, what is humane is to love without boundaries and conditions. Second, what is just is what is right, and what is right starts with God. Thirdly, what is inclusive is to follow the perspective of Jesus. He ended his message with the words of Paul found in Galatians 3:28, “There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” This means that no barrier – be it race, economic class, or gender – should exists but all are in equal footing.
The second part of the program is the Keynote Message. The speaker was Prof. Franklin G. Robite, Former Chairperson, Department of Social Sciences, CPU. He was introduced by Prof. Janet P. Jaco, Vice Chairperson, ACSCU Visayas, and Principal of the CPU Elementary School. Prof. Robite connected his message about the theme with the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights. He also said that the Preamble of the Philippine Constitution also states that we need to have a “Humane, Just, and Inclusive Society.” He also answered the question, “What is the main enemy here?” He emphasized that the enemies are “Discrimination and Prejudice.” He explained how we are discriminated because of our gender, class, age, language, race, marital status, and many more. He also said that we need to challenge injustice and unfairness. He shared that this happen around us all the time may be in the form of jokes, stereotypes, and insensitive comments. We also need to report discriminatory content wherever we can find it. He also challenge the member institutions to seek to change school policies which are discriminatory.
After the Keynote Message, Rev. Dr. Bernabe C. Pagara, Dean, College of Theology Central Philippine University together with three persons from Filamer Christian Univeristy, Fortress College and Silliman University shared their experiences during the Covid-19 pandemic, and how schools are “Embarking on a Journey of Limited Face to Face Learning.”
The convention also had their Business Meeting presided by Judge Benjamin D. Turgano and was assisted by Dr. Earl Jude Paul Cleope. It was ended by a worship and installation and commission of the new set of officers.
The one-day convention was attended by more than 60 school leaders from the member institutions of ACSCU Visayas Zone. The Program Chairperson and Master of Ceremonies was Dr. Beulah Torres, Director, Office of Instruction, Silliman University.

“Tell Me and I Forget; Teach Me and I May Remember; Involve Me and I Learn” - Benjamin Franklin
“I just want to make sure that you picked a good daycare for Henry.” Spencer exclaimed to JJ for what felt like the thousand times that day. “Children who spend time in day care could be more socially aware than children who spend no time in day care. According to Reuters, a 2010 study by the U.S. National Institutes of Health showed that children who attended a high-quality daycare were less likely to act out, in part because of the support, interaction and cognitive stimulation received there, and you want Henry to be socially aware, right, JJ?”
“Yes, of course I do, Spence is that even a question, “ JJ rolled her eyes at the question but knew that Spencer had Henry’s best interest in mind and that he wasn’t trying to be an asshole towards her. She also knew that he wouldn’t get off her back until he had proof that it was a good daycare. So she had an idea.
“Why don’t you pick Henry up from daycare at 4:00 so you can see if it is up to the Spencer Reid standard of excellence.” JJ told him, immediately a smile spread across Spencer's face. “Yes, yes that I can do and if it's not up to my standard we could discuss some other options I have in mind. I have 10 different pamphlets on my desk.” Spencer stated and picked up his satchel and headed towards the elevator noticing that the time was 3:30.
“Pamphlets!?!?” JJ sighed and shook her head knowing that she couldn’t stop Spencer from doing his research on a daycare center, even though she had only mentioned looking into one a month ago. 
But there was no stopping Dr. Spencer Reid from doing his research. But, deep down JJ knew that there was something special about this specific daycare center, no not something, someone.
Someone that Henry came home every day raving about and would sometimes even ask JJ if she could come home with him.
You
Spencer parked his care outside of Laugh n' Learn Academy gratefully that he was right on time and not a second late. He never liked to be late especially for something as important as making sure his godson went to a good daycare center.
Spencer was as determined as even to tell JJ that after his inspection the center was not up to his standards but, as soon as he entered the building his whole demeanor changed. There was something about walking inside that just made him feel happy and safe, a feeling that he had not felt in a very long time.
And that’s when he spotted Henry laughing and running around with the other children, his eyes looking around the playpen looking for someone and when he spotted his target he ran his little legs right over to her and jumped into her arms.
And that was when Spencer spotted you, it felt like the world had stopped rotating and in that moment it was just him and her the gorgeous stranger that was holding on to his godson with such love and affection, and in that moment Spencer wished that she was the one that he was holding.
You looked up to see what had distracted Henry, hearing him repeat over and over again “Uncle Spencer, Uncle Spencer!” and saw him looking and he felt his knees give out and nearly fell, he had to hold on to the reception desk to stop himself from falling over. She smiled at him as she put Henry down on the ground so he could run to his Uncle, that JJ had called earlier about to you that he was picking him up instead of her, JJ had also warned you about him saying that he was an odd taste but, you would get used to him.
But, you don’t think she was warning you about the way your body felt when you looked at him, you had never felt a feeling like this before. You felt like you were dying and he was the cure, you were the sunflower and he was the sun, he was the moon to your sun. 
The missing piece to your puzzle, your other half, your soulmate.
You finally got yourself together and brought yourself back to Earth and away from the fantasies that played in your head and walked over to the beautiful stranger, that you hoped wouldn’t be a stranger for long.
“Uncle Spencer, this is my teacher Miss y/n, she’s my favorite!!!” the little boy was excited for two of the most important people in the world (besides his parents and his godmother, Penelope) to finally meet.
“Dr. Spencer Reid, it’s a pleasure to meet you JJ called me earlier to let me know that you were picking up Henry, although she didn’t tell me much about you, I’m hoping we could change that soon.” You flirted with him a blush creeping up on both your faces, you never were so bold in your flirtations (especially not at work) but something about this man changed that. All you wanted to do was know more about him, you felt a magnetic pull towards him as soon as he walked into the room.
Spencer didn’t even know what to say, which was a first to him since he was always spurting out random facts and anecdotes. So that is what he did. 
“Did you know that in a study conducted by the Institute of Child Development at the University of Minnesota, children under age 3 who spend time in day care may experience more stress than children of the same age who are not in day care. Children in the study exhibited higher levels of cortisol, a stress hormone, when they were in the middle of full days at day care; the cortisol levels went down when they went back home. Those children were described as being more shy, a trait which could cause stress in a social environment. However, day care might not be the only cause of the stress; children inevitably must participate in some social environments once they reach elementary school-age.” As soon as he finished his rant embarrassment took over his whole body sputtering apology after apology.
All you did was giggle, which was a sound that Spencer could never stop listening to and wanted to hear on repeat, but he was also confused on why you were laughing but, before he could ask you answered his question. Like you had already known what he was going to say.
“You know JJ did tell me about your little rants, but I must say that was amazing and I know that you have the best interest in mind when it comes to your godson but, look at him Spencer does he look stressed out to you?” You asked him as you both peered over at Henry who had gone back to playing with his friends, a giant smile spread about his face as he waved at you both before he went back to playing. 
You weren't just some mindless worker only doing this job for money, you did this because you loved kids and watching them grow and develop and one day you hoped to open up your own daycare center. And Spencer had finally realized this, he knew that he would tell JJ as soon as they left that this center did in fact meet his standard of excellence.
But, he wasn’t going to tell her the real reason he had given the daycare his seal of approval.
You

From that moment on Spencer was a familiar face you saw when he had the chance to pick up Henry. You both lived for the couple minutes a day that both of you were together, because when you were together it felt as if time was at a stand still.
After what felt like weeks of Spencer picking up Henry and only talking to you for a couple of minutes before he made his quick escape, too worried that he was going to embarrass himself in front of you. He had finally gathered up the courage to ask you on a date.
And when he did it just felt right, like everything that had happened in your life had finally led up to that specific moment in time, and you couldn’t stop yourself from being overcome with joy at his question that you, of course, said yes without even thinking twice. 
And from that moment on, you and Spencer were inseparable, two halves that were finally put together, you were meant for him and he was meant for you.

I cannot say that I ultimately believe at love at first sight. What I do believe in is that there are certain people who have chemistry between them.

Road Trip: Westward Day 4: More DC
This summer, the kids and I embarked on a 10,000-mile cross-country road trip from Washington to Maine and back: ten days out, a short stay, then twelve days back. Along the way, we’re getting a brief taste of America through landmarks and sights that represent our nation, for better or worse. As of this writing, we’ve completed the entire trip.

U.S. Capitol Building, Washington, DC

We’re still in DC for the morning, because we have a 10am appointment for a Capitol Building tour through the office of Senator Patty Murray.
Senator Murray isn’t there in person; we are told that she is actually flying to DC from Washington. And her office is actually in a Congressional office building near the Capitol Building.
Senator Murray graduated from WSU with a degree in physical education. She became an elementary school teacher and then an activist for environmental and educational issues. At some point, a state congressperson told Murray that she would never be able to make a difference because she was just a “mom in tennis shoes.” Humorously, she incorporated this phrase into the campaign slogans for her state and federal senate races. She’s been a Washington senator since 1993 and remains the highest-ranking female senator.
While we waited for the tour to begin, we were amused by some of the items on the shelves in her office’s waiting room, like these Wheaties boxes:

It’s worth noting that Eastern Washington produces a lot of wheat.
Of course, Senator Murray does not give the tour even when she is in town. Instead, one of her interns does it. Curiously, he was attending college in Massachusetts, although he did have a Washington connection that I can’t remember right now.
The underground labyrinth beneath the entire Capitol/White House district is amazing, and apparently features several miles of tunnels connecting all the buildings so government staff can avoid going outdoors. Our guide led us through some of it, and then we rode the special subway that runs between the Capitol Building to the Senatorial office buildings.

This photo makes the Congressional subway look a lot faster than it really is. It’s not fast at all.
Inside the Capitol Building, we were guided past a long series of historical stairs, halls, plaques, statues, columns, doorways, paintings, and so on. The intern would stop now and then to tell an anecdote.
For example, there was a plaque that marks the cornerstone of the original Capitol Building… maybe. The guide pointed out that we don’t actually know where the cornerstone is. Apparently, after the initial cornerstone and foundation stones were laid, the builders and politicians threw a huge party, including the BBQing of a 500-pound ox and the consumption of quite a lot of alcohol. The next day, nobody could remember or agree upon where the actual cornerstone was. So the plaque simply marks one of the possibilities.

However, we did see the Capitol Rotunda from the inside:

Within the Rotunda are several large paintings. I’ve seen these in books before, but here they were in real life, and larger than I expected. For example, here is the Declaration of Independence, featuring Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, and a host of others.

We had hoped to end the tour with a visit to the U.S. Senate, which was in session. However, it was closed to visitors. But we could visit the U.S. House of Representatives, which was not in session. 
The kids were amazed at all the marble, sculpture, and other art and architectural finery we saw.
“There’s so much money behind all this,” said Luke, age 14. “Where did it all come from?!”
“Taxpayers,” I said grumpily. “My wallet is connected to all of this somehow.”

We ended our Capitol Building tour by walking through underground tunnels to the Library of Congress:

I hoped to see the Main Reading Room of the Library, but there was at least a 90-minute wait to get in. We didn’t have that kind of time, unfortunately. It would have looked like this:

Historically, the Korean and Japanese empires invented printing presses hundreds of years before Gutenberg did, but he was unaware of their technology. And the relative complexity of their languages made typesetting more difficult than in European languages.
We walked past a few other buildings, such as the Supreme Court building. On our tour of the Capitol building, we had seen one of the original Supreme Court meeting rooms inside the Capitol. However, before that, SCOTUS judges simply met wherever they could find room, which occasionally meant a tavern across the street. Imagine that happening today.
On our way out of town, we also saw Ford’s Theatre, where President Lincoln was shot in 1865.

Charlottesville, VA
In Charlottesville, we stopped at the famous Rotunda of the University of Virginia, with a statue of its founder and designer, Thomas Jefferson, out front. It was originally built in 1826, and rebuilt after a fire in 1895. The building is one of only four designated UNESCO World Heritage sites in the United States.

This is optional to read, but I think this is worth a read anyways, seeing as I explain how things will be. You can just vote if you’d like! If you do read this, and have any questions about anything you read, please come and ask me! I want to make this blog as fun as I can, both for me as the admin and all those following it!
Hi, me again! While I finish up the last of the teachers references, I come to you with another poll with another set of options related to the opening for the Alt. Aftermath AU opening, seeing as that’s why 75% of y’all voted for!
There are three main groups you can choose to ask, and I’ll give little briefs on what each group includes, who will answer questions the most out of the group (AKA who has the most freetime in order to answer questions), what they do for work (if applicable), etc. 
Group 1: This group consists of Roy, Harry, Sketch and Colin. 
In this group, Sketch will be able to answer the most questions alongside Roy. One works from home and the other has very small classes and not too much to keep track of.
Sketch works as an art teacher at the nearby elementary school.
Colin works as a robotics teacher at the nearby high school.
Roy works for a company that produces different things, such as shows, movies, cartoons, etc. He does the financials or whatever.
Harry works an office job.
Due to the reset, Sketch does not remember the events of DHMIS, while Colin and Roy don’t remember it very clearly.
Group 2: This group consists of Red Robin (Also named Robin, but I call them Daniel/Danny so I don’t confuse them with Post Robin), Blue Harry (Henry), Green Manny (Maxwell), Anthony/Tony, Vanellope/Veg, Breadly/Bread Boy, and Franklin/Fridge. Yes, Steve is technically apart of this group, but I want him to come in at a later point.
In this group, Danny and the kids will answer most of the questions most of the time. Danny doesn’t work (they babysit the kids I guess you could actually call that their job) and the kids, well, kids talk to themselves all the time, who really is gonna notice? 
At first, you can really only ask Danny, Max and Henry. Those three will segway into opening the other 4.
Danny is a babysitter.
Henry works a office job, just like Harry.
Maxwell is in elementary school.
Tony is a history teacher at the middle school. 
Veg is in middle school.
Breadly is in elementary school.
Franklin is a chef at a nearby bar.
In case you wanted to know, the Monster Cans (Addison, Benjamin, and Carmen.) also work at the nearby bar with Franklin as servers. Steve usually works there too as a chef.
None of them knows/remember DHMIS and as a result, they don’t know about Robin or Manuel, but Danny gets weird senses of deja vu and will sometimes act out of character. Hmm...
This group, will being one big group, is really two smaller groups that come together as one by midday. You’ve got the three kids and the four adults.
Group 3: This group consists of Post Manny (or just, Manny I guess) and Post Robin.
Ahh yes, Robin and Manny. Because they died during the events of DHMIS, they do not exist in the Alt. Universe. Or at least, not in the way Harry and Roy do. 
This group seems like it’s a small group, cause it is.
Why isn’t Shrignold, Lilith or Larry in any of the groups? Will they not be apart of this?
Of course, Shrignold, Lilith and Larry will definitely make their appearance in due time, but they aren’t the only ones that didn’t make the beginners list! Have a look at this list, as well as some roles some of them may have!
